Akash&Payal
Akash & Payal
aka Payesh...
Parallel leads Payal & Akash's storyline was added in as a zest. It was like them, fresh air to the intense love saga. It was used correctly and really developed the Arnav & Khushi storyline in a different dimension but attached to Payesh's story. It even connected and created some frustrations for Shyam as well unintentionally.
The two are like sweet and spice roles with their own background music...a pretty soothing one...Hey, Hey...Ho Ho...
In fact, I would love to say that they played an instrumental role in orchestrating Arshi's life together. Payal loved her sister, Khushi... whereas Akaash had a great way of dealing with ASR in his own sweet and calm way. He showed a genuine fondness for Khushi even when things were wrong. I'd love to see him develop a very open brotherly affection for KKG, but CVc did not deliver that.
Before Marriage
Akash is the soft-spoken type and Payal hardly spoke, and all. Arnav & Khushi portrayed passion, whereas CVs initially used Payash to add cuteness to the drama. Akash and Payal didn't really need any words to describe... they both communicated with their eyes as well.
Akash's simple and ordinary looks and Payal's shyness reflected through her eyes were just beautiful touches... they seemed very similar to Arshi are opposites but carried their own incomparable charm!!
The drama at the cliff brought these two together, later Arshi will be on the same cliff but with a whole lot new level of intensity
After Marriage
I would love to see Akash come out of that mummy's boy shell after his marriage and get his act together to be his own man. He did show us some backbone initially, but it went down the drain after a while, and his silence made it difficult for Payal to take her place in that house peacefully, especially with Manorama. A typical sas bahu drama it became. As many characters of IPK lost their originality, Payesh were the same.

Yet, I knew this side of the story showed a typical Indian man who shows no difference from the herd of this imperial men society. Payal and Akash provided a gorgeous contrast to the story before and after marriage. The couple set each other off, and I thought the show underestimated the value they could have with these two as a second lead.
I'm certainly not talking about hour-long stares but some good character development with both. Payal and Akash in the Gupta and Raizada house provided a pivotal benefit to the show. They possibly allowed the hate/love track to be extended more constructively later.
Their relationship felt incomplete to me, leaving me with this thirst to know more...
Forgot to mention
Akash has his fav color, Pink and all the colors belong to the pink family.
Wearing the same here, but seems like it is reflecting a dangerous color for Mamiji🤣

♡simui er payesh♡
hey!
back with a twist on dessert! Ready to shake up your sweet tooth with something unexpected? Imagine noodles reimagined as a delectable treat – this recipe will completely transform your idea of indulgence! This dessert is known as Simui er Payesh.

These are the four main ingredients for simui er payesh: whole milk, vermicelli, sugar, and ghee.
If you've been keeping up with my previous recipes, you'll know that the key to a great dessert is attention to detail. For Simui er Payesh, the star ingredient is roasted vermicelli. You can find it at most Indian grocery stores, or you can roast regular vermicelli at home with a bit of ghee until it's a beautiful golden brown.

Important Tip: When roasting the vermicelli, keep a close eye on it. You want it to be golden brown, not burnt. Trust me, I've had my fair share of 'oops' moments in the kitchen. Once the vermicelli is perfectly roasted, set it aside and get ready for the magic!

Add some whole milk (the richer, the better) to a pot and bring it to a gentle boil. Add the roasted vermicelli and let it cook until it becomes soft and tender. Now, it's time to add the fun flavors! Ground cardamom, saffron, and sugar to taste. The saffron will give the payesh a lovely yellow hue, and the cardamom will fill your kitchen with a heavenly aroma.
Fun Fact: Saffron is one of the most expensive spices in the world! It's often called 'red gold.' So, use it sparingly, but don’t skimp on it. Your Simui er Payesh deserves the best!

Once the payesh has thickened to your desired consistency, it's time to add the finishing touches. Stir in some chopped nuts – I love using pistachios and almonds. They add a delightful crunch and make the dessert look even more enticing.
Simui er payesh can be served hot or cold, but I prefer it hot. There's something about the creamy, warm pudding that just hits the spot.
In Bengali culture, serving sweet dishes like simui er payesh is a way to welcome guests and show hospitality. It's like saying, "Welcome to my home, have a taste of my heart!"
until next time!

𓆩♡𓆪 skz during nabo borsho. 𓆩♡𓆪
BANG CHAN would be the first to wake up. He's been practicing how to pronounce 'nobo borsho' properly all night. You're fast asleep, excited at the prospect of New Years coming the next day. As soon as it's midnight, he pokes the side of your stomach. "Shubho... shubho nabo borsho babe," he says with the biggest smile. (Ugh. This man.)
LEE MINHO is watching you pick out the best, most fresh hilsa for nabo borsho. You are not settling for any less. He watches you talk in rapid Bengali with a smile on his face. When you're finally home, he's already put the leftover rice in water and is standing in front of you with an eager smile, aprons and spatula in hand. (Bonus: He remembers to but kashundi! Get yourself a man that buys you kashundi!)
SEO CHANGBIN is helping the rest of the Bengali cultural committee where you live haul the numerous boxes of prasad from the truck to the distribution center. He flashes you a big smile, enamored by you. Living with you has caused him to pick up enough Bengali to slightly understand what everyone is saying. Regardless of that though, he is all the thakuma's favorite. (Because why not?)
HWANG HYUNJIN watches you get ready. He knows you're not good at putting on a sari, and so, after numerous Youtube tutorials, he pre-pleats your sari and keeps it ready for you. When you shoo him out of your room to go socialize, he helps your younger cousins in making a rangoli, thinking of you fondly. (No wonder it suspiciously looks like a rose with your initials.)
HAN JISUNG clears his throat loudly in the comfort of your home and starts singing. At first you're confused, but then you realize that he's singing "Aye Re Chuti Aye." You tell him that it's the wrong holiday and he looks distressed, just to give you a Han Jisung concert with the right songs two hours later. (Ok but IMAGINE HIM SINGING ARIJIT SINGH?!?!)
LEE FELIX will not let you inside the kitchen at all. Absolutely not. You can see him hard at work, although you have next to no idea why. His brow is scrunched as he's taking extremely precise measurements and ushering you out. Finally, he comes up to you. "So... I... Um... tried to make payesh-" you're to busy attacking him with a hug to let him finish. (And btw, it's almost as good as your didda's!)
KIM SEUNGMIN is wearing a white kurta. He's wearing chappals. He's sitting on the floor with a banana leaf and is absolutely determined to celebrate nabo borsho the way your family does every year. He eats with his hands, attempts to converse in broken Bengali and wins over your family in every way possible. (I love him sm.)
YANG JEONGIN is the loudest person in the crowd as you're dancing during the cultural fest you have partaken in. He has spent weeks with you, helping you to rehearse. He even picked out your outfit and jewelry, and it couldn't be more perfect. He gets you food and water as soon as you're off the stage and smothers you with kisses. (He would probably offer to sing a duet with you too, and who knows, you might just take him up on that offer.)
a/n: ok so this was entirely self-indulgent lmao. i'm really sorry if you don't understand half the stuff on here but to my bengalis (and anybody else with their new years today) SHUBHO NABO BORSHO AND HAPPY NEW YEAR LOVELIES!

♡chanar payesh♡
hi!
Today, we're exploring the sweet, creamy delight known as Chanar Payesh! This Bengali treat is a must-have for anyone with a penchant for milky desserts and soft chana balls. Let's jump into this culinary adventure!
Step 1: Making the Chana Balls We’re going the convenient route with store-bought paneer, which makes the process quicker and just as delicious.

Crumble the Paneer: Start by crumbling the paneer into a bowl. The finer, the better – get those hands working!
Sweeten It Up: Mix in some sugar with the crumbled paneer. This will give our chana balls that sweet kick.
Shape the Spheres: Roll the sweetened paneer into small spheres. They should be about the size of marbles – just like the ones you lost under the couch as a kid.
Size Matters: Be cautious not to make them too big; they’ll puff up in the milk, and you don't want chana giants in your payesh. To be frank, I made them a bit too big. I didn't think about the fact that they would increase in size in the milk, so be sure not to make the same mistake I did.
Step 2: Preparing the Milk Time to get that creamy, dreamy base ready.

Boil the Milk: Pour whole milk into a pot and bring it to a boil. Rich, full-fat milk is your best friend here.
Spice It Up: Add cardamom seeds to the boiling milk. You could use saffron for a yellow hue, but I wanted to keep my Chanar Payesh pure white, so I skipped it. Your kitchen, your rules!
Reduce the Milk: Let the milk simmer and thicken, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
Step 3: Adding the Chana Balls Now for the magic – combining the creamy milk with our sweet chana spheres.

(notice the before and after)
Simmer and Soak: Once the milk has thickened, gently add the chana balls. Let them soak and simmer, absorbing all that creamy goodness and expanding slightly.
Step 4: The Finishing Touches Time to add some flair!
Nutty Crunch: Soak some pistachios and almonds to remove their skins easily, then chop and sprinkle them over the Chanar Payesh. This adds a delightful crunch and a touch of elegance.

Fun Fact: Chanar Payesh is often made during Bengali festivals and special occasions, bringing joy and sweetness to celebrations. It's pretty much a combination of roshogollas and kheer to put it simply.
So there you have it – the ultimate guide to making Chanar Payesh, a dessert that’s as delightful to prepare as it is to eat. Whether you're a kitchen pro or a newbie, this recipe is sure to become a favorite in no time.

Stay tuned for more scrumptious recipes coming your way soon. Until then, happy cooking and even happier indulging!
Dig in and enjoy!

Teorus X Desi Reader!
I'm bored and I have the urge to write HCs, so here it is.
This ended up being more Bengali than desi, but oh well.
Teo has a sweet tooth, and loves milk. He absolutely loves it when you make him payesh on his birthday. It becomes his new favourite food. He asks you to make it every week.
You cook mach bhat from time to time, and Teo does not like having to separate all the bones from fish.
He also definitely loves other mishti(sweets) like rosogolla. When you take him to a Bengali wedding for the first time, he finishes a dozen of rosogolla at once. Plus, he downs a load of doi and ice cream after that.
Don't forget alu bhaja. Teo and you devour tons of them every night at dinner.
He finds you talking in Bengali cute and wants to learn it too. :)
He finds it cute even when you argue with him in Bengali. (Don't cuss him too much please.)
Teo loves hearing Bengali songs that you sing, especially those about love.
He definitely doesn't have a crush on Suchitra Sen.
IMAGINE TEO IN A KURTA. I WOULD DIE FOR HIM.
He sees you wearing mehendi, and wants to wear it too.
When you introduce him to your family on both your mother and father's side, he wonders why on earth you have so many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Your parents will definitely love him more than you. You cannot tell me that they wouldn't go "How did such a fine boy end up with this good-for-nothing girl?" :')
He will be so flabbergasted at bhai phota. Why is the line of his sisters-in-law not ending?
Thank you for reading! I really enjoyed writing this. :3
