This tool will update daily shortly after 4 p.m. ET on weekdays, excluding federal holidays. Weekend and holiday transactions accumulate to the next business day. Weekly data (totaled from the daily data) will update once the previous full week’s data are complete. Vertical dashed line indicates new administration. Totals are the sum of outlay categories, excluding Public Debt Cash Redemptions. On January 27, the Trump administration ordered a freeze on certain federal spending. This announcement, subsequent legal and policy action, and reports that the Department of Government Efficiency has gained access to payment systems have introduced uncertainty about whether particular programs and departments are being funded in accordance with the law. This data interactive shows actual daily and weekly processed outlays to key programs and departments, as well as to states, Congress, and the Judiciary. This tool only reports outlays of federal funds, meaning the actual transmission of funds from the federal government to another entity. This tool, therefore, allows users to track federal government spending in real time. To use the interactive, select your desired time period (one, three, 12, or 36 months), outlay frequency (daily or weekly outlays, or a seven-day simple moving average, in billions of dollars), and up to nine categories (which can include programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program [SNAP], agencies like the National Institutes of Health [NIH], and other recipients of federal funding). One can select or search for outlays to these line items using the “Federal outlay categories” bar. Labels for the outlays in this interactive have been edited for clarity and consistency over time and may not directly match those found on the Daily Treasury Statements. Not every outlay category is present for the entire time series. The glossary lists the names of the outlay line items available in the interactive, abbreviated (both as reported in the Daily Treasury Statements and the interactive), and in full. This interactive makes no adjustments to the data, meaning that cyclical, seasonal, idiosyncratic, and expected variation in patterns of outlays over time remain. Because this tool only reports outlays, one cannot discern directly whether there is a gap between obligated funds and their outlay. Furthermore, if federal agencies have changed the rate at which they are newly obligating funds (e.g., by declining to sign new contracts), those changes would only gradually be reflected in outlays. These data are downloadable and can be used for secondary analysis. This tool is a work in progress. Please contact Lauren Bauer ([email protected]) if you have questions or suggestions.

My payment for the ficlet:

Could I just get Zedaph being a silly? Thanks!
S.O.S / 88
words: 2,587 warnings: implied robot injury / abandonment a03 link! (i have an a03 now!!)
When Zedaph had first found her in the scrapyard, she’d been little more than a telegraph sounder. She wasn't even capable of making dihs or dahs, just dots and dashes. She was, by every definition of the word, useless; discarded, unuseable, utterly inutile… Broken. But Zedaph had never believed in such a word. Things were never really broken; just… temporarily decommissioned! They could be in states of disrepair, but never beyond repair. Everything could always be mended, rebuilt, improved; everything could always be fixed. That was why he came to the scrapyard in the first place. Zedaph knew what it was like to feel broken. He felt sympathy for every machine discarded by its creator in a wasteland of flotsam and jetsam, deserted and dejected. And so, whenever he wandered across one of these poor orphaned apparatuses, he felt it was his duty to try to give them what their inventor had not: A home. A purpose. Besides, it was much easier to fix an abandoned machine than to make one from scratch, especially back when he hadn't had the funding to afford his own materials. Upon closer inspection, it looked like her developer had intended for her to be a translator of sorts. A humanoid polygotic interpreter AI which had been designed to serve as an assistant to foreign diplomats and ambassadors. Scavengers had had their way with her, however, and so she didn't even have the tools left to serve as a functional morse code transliterator, let alone a functional world-wide translator. There was a twisted sort of irony in the fact that the AI meant to translate for others was unable to even properly translate her own thoughts and feelings into words, able to process the words being spoken but never able to understand them. Able to talk but never able to speak. A translator who couldn't even translate herself.
For the first few weeks when Zed had been working on fixing her transmitter, she always kept repeating the same string of sounds: Dot, dot, dash. Dot, dot, dash. She made the noise so often, it became an association, and Zed decided that was just what he would call her in meantime - a bit of a mouthful, sure, but wasn't Dot Dot Dash a better name then Unnamed Abandoned Appartus Number 21? It was just a temporary title until he found a way to get her communications sorted and she could come up with their own name, anyway. Though it turns out, she had been saying her own name, in a way: Dot, dot, dash. E-E-T. Ease-Enhancing Translator. Her hostname. He'd only figured that out when he found the marque on her forehead about three weeks into her repair. For a genius, he could be a little bit stupid, sometimes. Maybe really stupid. When he did finally figure out how to repair her transmissions, for about a month she was stuck only speaking in Dutch, because he'd accidentally selected the system's default of Netherlandic as his preferred language instead of his own of English in his excitement to get her up and running. And, with her operating system now in a foreign language, it was incredibly difficult to figure out how to turn on her bilateralism. Not his brightest moment. But it didn't mean it didn't lead to bright moments. Even though they couldn't communicate, at least not through language, that didn't mean they couldn't communicate in other ways. That didn't mean that, over that month, he didn't learn that she was an absolute menace at Mario Kart (Guess the Dash part of her name really rung true!), that she'd become an immediate fanatic of Hamilton, and that Sesame Street was her favourite comfort show. Just because they couldn't exchange words didn't mean they couldn't exchange glances, exchange touches, exchange laughs, exchange smiles. Just because he couldn't understand a word she said didn't mean he couldn't understand that he was falling head over heels for her. It took an embarrassing amount of time and effort, but eventually, inevitably, he finally managed to repair her communication system. And, finally, they managed to have their first conversation.
"So… what's your name?" It was a bit odd, asking the question; such a simple, innocent question, but it felt wrong. It was the sort of thing you asked somebody you just met. But they hadn't just met… not really. It felt like they'd known each other for years. All their lives. And, yet, these were the first words they'd ever spoken to each other. He - literally - knew her innerworkings inside and out, and yet, he didn't even know her name. They knew everything about each other, but at the same time, nothing at all. The robot replied with a simple answer to a simple question: "Dot, Dot, Dash." "Oh — oh my goddess, oh dear, oh no — did I accidentally set you back to Morse Code again?!" Oh, this was horrendous, he'd been trying to help but he'd put her back all the way back to square one— "No, no," A jittery, high-pitched sound came out of the android's voicebox, a soft laugh as she reeled Zed's hand away from her inner panel. "That's my name." "It is?" Zed asked, baffled and still slightly breathless from the scare, before he jumped slightly with the startled realisation, "Oh — oh! Oooh, Because, that's what I've been calling you — no, no, nonono, that's — that doesn't have to be your name, you see, I just… well, it felt awful drab calling you by a model number, and you always used to go dot, dot, dash!, So I was just using it as a placeholder, which, I… which I am realising, was perhaps slightly insensitive, it's little better then calling you boop beep bop, now that I'm thinking about it, it would be like naming a dog woof woof… Oh my gosh, I am so sorry—" "— I like it." "—Oh, I'm such a dunce, imagine calling a duck quack quack, or a chicken cluck clu— wait, you… what?" "Yeah!" She smiled. "It's silly! Who cares if it's a bit on-the-nose?" She booped his nose for emphasis before she continued, "It feels like me." "O—oh! Well… well, in that case. It's… It's nice to meet you, Dot Dot Dash! I'm Zedaph." He held a hand out for her to shake out of cordiality. Dot stared at his outstretched hand dubiously, her features almost betraying offence at his attempt at courtesy, enough to make him almost begin to worry it had been a test to see if he'd fall for calling her such an offensive name and he'd fallen for it, like an idiot… and before he had a chance to profusely apologise again and retract both his hand and his statement, she abruptly grabbed him by his offered hand and pulled him in… …to a hug. "Zedaph… I've watched you fling an oreo from your forehead into your mouth on multiple occasions, you once bit into an onion like an apple and then rubbed it on your face to make yourself cry, you sleep with a mint condition package of Minions playing cards underneath your pillow, your favourite colour is red even though everything you own is pink… I already know you, Zed. And you know me. Just because we didn't know each others' names doesn't mean we didn't know each other… and it certainly doesn't mean this is our first time meeting. This isn't an introduction… it's just… finally getting a chance to say hello." "O—oh." Zed felt his voice crack. There was nothing between them now, no barrier, language or otherwise. His voice was soft as he whispered, "Hello." Her voice was softer, a smile on her lips, as she whispered back, "Hallo."
Not another word fell from either of their lips. They didn't need words. Sometimes, actions were more powerful than words. And their lips' actions spoke louder than any sentence they could have strung.
.. / .-.. --- …- . / -.-- --- ..- .-.-.-
Safe to say, everybody on Hermitcraft loved Dot. And not just because she was one of the most talented people on the server - which she was, indisputably. She'd been built as an interpreter, but her skills were far from confined to linguistics…. she made the most thrilling commercials and logos for the shops in the Shopping District in all of it's history: Lookie Lookie at My Bookie, Shade-E-E's, Beefy Stores, Lamps Plus, ODEA… that was just to name a few successful bussinesses' whose success could wholly be attributed to Dot. She was also an absolute marvel when it came to the political field, somehow simultaneously making adverts for both Mumbo, Scar, and Plopper's mayor campaigns without either party realizing she was also advertising for every opposition, playing every side of the spectrum. And then, later, she pulled the exact same thing with HEP, The Podzol Party, and The Mycelium Resistance… This feat was one that could either be attributed to her astounding intelligence or the Hermits' astounding lack of intelligence. She was also a stupefying film director, and, in a similar vein, a stupefying music video director! Maybe too stupefying of a music video director. He still had nightmares about Bohemian Keralisody. And he couldn't help but still be a little lingeringly offended that both Poultry Man and Iskallman got their own fan edits but Wormman, the significantly cooler superhero of the server, got ziltch. Not that it was personal, just an astute observation from an outsider with no stakes in the superhero business whatsoever. He really didn't get why Poultryman of all people was her favourite superhero… to the point she'd requested he manufacture her a pair of bionic chicken wings. She even had him provide her with a chicken soundboard so she could communicate with her new brethern… which she had specifically requested not be made with real chickens' voices, as they could not consent to being recorded and doing so would infringe upon their rights, so the soundboard ended up just being Zed going buck, buck, buckawk! into a microphone for her at various pitches and inflections to use as she saw fit. She even ended up making an alter ego by the name of Stanley in an attempt to become Poultryman's sidekick, despite the fact there were much cooler superheroes out there to sidekick for besides a chicken in a trenchcoat. For completely random example: Wormman. Wormman was much cooler! And actually looking for sidekicks! Not that Zed was jealous. Not at all! Just a third-party observation.
Anyways. You'd think, surely, being the top graphic designer, commercial producer, film producer, and music video producer in the game was impressive enough of a resume… no, her awesomeness didn't stop there, not even close. She also dabbled in the armour stand business, and even further, became one of the server's best castle architects. Which was quite was a feat, given it seemed every season at least somebody had to build a grand castle of some sorts. But her castles were better than all of them - better then the NHO Castle, The Red Sky Bay Castle, Coe's Quest Castle, Wels' Cathedral, Bdubs' Castle, The Area 77 Castle, Stress' Ice Castle, RentheKing's Castle, The… wow, Zed was just realizing, Hermitcraft really did have a lot of castles. But, digressing! Her castles were the best castles. And that wasn't even just him being biased in his girlfriend's favour - that was just a fact. If monarchy on Hermitcraft didn't have a reputation for ending with a HoTgUy to the face, he would have crowned her Queen of Hermitcraft. It seemed the only thing she couldn't do was hit the high note in Hamilton's Burn… an feat she was coming closer and closer to achieving every day, which terrified Zed, for he was sure once she did so she'd become the epitome of perfection on all fronts and would transcend this mortal plane in a state of sublime quintessence.
Luckily for Zed, though, Dot had no intent to transcend. As much as Zed raved about her accomplishments, which were impressive in their own right, she wasn't going anywhere while she hadn't completed her greatest accomplishment of all. Her life's mission. Dot wanted to make sure nobody ever struggled like she had again. Words, vocabulary, verbality… Language itself was it's own 55-pin ladder puzzle. She was built to be a translator, and a translator she would be… not just for other languages, but for languages within languages, for inflections and undertones and connotations and implications that might as well have been their own language. She didn't want to let linguistic barriers to prevent somebody from living their best life… from saying hi to the love of their life. If she'd given up trying to speak English, she'd have never gotten the chance to tell Zed she loved him in words he would understand. And if he had given up on repairing her auditory processor, she'd have never gotten the chance to understand when he told her he loved her in words she'd understand. She still had a long way to go to be the global translator she was built to be, she didn't speak near seven-thousand languages nor with the fluency she would have liked, but that was okay. Because one of the languages she could speak was English - and, if anybody struggled with the language, just like she used to, she wanted to be there to help. To be what Zed had been to her — a teacher, a friend, and a crutch. The first person she helped, of course — coming full-circle — was Zedaph himself. The conversation went a little something like this: "Zed, dear, could you bring Danny's leash downstairs?" "Hm?" "I asked if could you bring Danny's leash downs—" "Come again?" "I SAID COULD YOU BRING DANNY'S LE—" "PARDON??" And that was how they learned that being in constant proximity to loud industrial machinery and exploding himself for comedic effect on a near-daily basis was not very good for his eardrums. It didn't take her long to diagnosis him with partial hearing loss, prescribe him with proper ear protection, and invent something to help. CCs she called it, or Closed Captions. Not a very original name, but it got the point across! She never really understood Zed's tendency to give things elaborate names like The Chickenerator, or Zombie Plinko, or The Celestial Cosmodrome… well, actually, she supposed she couldn't blame him for that one, but, the point with the first two still stood! The CCs were a simple device; a pair of contact-lenses that provided real time, accurate translations of what was being said in the corner of the wearer's vision. It was even toggleable! A subtle way to get subtitles in your subsidiary. And it wasn't soon after she'd made Zedaph his pair that word spread, and GeminiTay appeared at her doorstep to politely inquire what it could cost to have a similar device manufactured for herself. Gem didn't suffer from quite the same plight as Zed, but instead with an auditory processing disorder, which made Dot realise how helpful her invention could actually be to the Hermit masses… whether hard-of-hearing hermits, second-language hermits, hermits with auditory processing disorders, or even just hermits who preferred reading over listening… She was helping people. Even if only two, the fact she could even just help two people struggle a little bit less with the language she had struggled with for so long made it worth it. It made it so, when Zed praised her for how indisputably awesome she was, she could smile, and say, without hesitation, "I know!"

Bribery retrial set to begin
FEDERAL COURTS
2021 conviction for paying off two Dallas council members was thrown out on appeal
The federal retrial of a Dallas developer accused of bribing two Dallas City Council members is scheduled to begin, with jury selection starting Monday.
A Dallas jury convicted Ruel Hamilton in 2021 of paying bribes to then-council members Dwaine Caraway and Carolyn Davis to help his low-income housing developments.
He was found guilty of two counts of bribery and one count of conspiracy to commit bribery.
The jury acquitted him of the fourth count: use of an interstate facility to commit a Travel Act violation.
Hamilton, 69, was sentenced in November 2021 to eight years in federal prison.
He was granted extra time to report to prison due to health problems and never began his sentence.
A retrial was necessary because the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in August 2022 vacated — or threw out — the conviction, saying the jury was not properly instructed on the requirements of the law.
The appeals court ruled that the jury was improperly told that a finding of quid pro quo — something given in exchange for something else — was not necessary to convict.
Federal appeals courts have disagreed on whether the main federal anti-corruption statute in question criminalizes only bribes or also covers gratuities.
The U.S. Supreme Court settled the matter for now in June 2024, ruling 6-3 that the bribery law does not outlaw gratuities.
The majority opinion by the six conservative justices described gratuities as “payments made to an official after an official act as a token of appreciation.”
The ruling was criticized by some legal observers, who called it part of a concerning pattern by the Supreme Court of narrowing the scope of federal anti-corruption laws.
The retrial
The Hamilton retrial had originally been set for November 2023. It was delayed due to the defense team’s multiple challenges of the government’s evidence.
Hamilton also unsuccessfully appealed Senior U.S. district Judge Barbara Lynn’s rejection of his attempt to have one of the three remaining charges dismissed on the grounds of it resulting in double jeopardy.
Hamilton has been free throughout the proceedings.
The retrial, at the federal courthouse in downtown Dallas, will take an estimated two to three weeks.
The background
Dallas prosecutors argued during the first trial in 2021 that Hamilton paid Davis and Caraway for their support — and approvals in one case — of his development projects while they served on the council.
His company, AmeriSouth Realty Group, built apartment complexes in southern Dallas neighborhoods.
Hamilton was accused of funneling bribe payments to Davis through her nonprofit of choice, run by a close friend and associate.
The roughly $40,000 in bribes Hamilton paid to Davis from 2013 to 2015 included “illegal campaign donations for the candidates of her choice,” prosecutors said.
In exchange, Davis lobbied for Hamilton’s Royal Crest housing project and voted to recommend that it receive valuable state tax credits for low-income housing, according to prosecutors. Hamilton’s project never received the tax benefit.
The 5th Circuit judges wrote that Hamilton received nothing “tangible” in return for his payments.
A footnote says that a broad reading of the federal bribery statute invites a “hoard of constitutional problems.”
Reading the law as if it covers “all sorts of interactions with local public officials raises First Amendment, federalism, and due process concerns,” the judges wrote.
The first trial
Davis pleaded guilty in March 2019 for her role in the scheme but died four months later in a car crash that also killed her daughter.
Caraway, 73, resigned from office in 2018 after pleading guilty to unrelated federal corruption charges involving the former Dallas County Schools bus agency.
Caraway was sentenced in 2019 to more than four years in prison for the bus case and testified against Hamilton during Hamilton’s first trial.
Caraway was never charged in the Hamilton case.
Count three, of which Hamilton was convicted in the first trial, relates to a $7,000 check he gave Caraway.
Prosecutors said during the first trial that Hamilton paid Caraway in 2018 for his help in placing a referendum on the council agenda that the developer hoped would increase voter turnout and benefit his candidates of choice.
During their conversation, the two also spoke about a proposed real estate development Hamilton wanted to build in Caraway’s district at 11th Street and Bonnie View Road in east Oak Cliff, court records show.
Hamilton’s lawyers argued that he is a naturally generous man who donated money to charity and wanted to help Caraway with medical expenses.
Caraway was released from prison in 2022 and is listed as a government witness for the retrial.
Former Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings also is listed as a witness.

Writing Commissions! (Fandom Discount, See List Below!)
Hello, everyone! I’m opening commissions for writing! I’m a fandom writer, so unfortunately I don’t write completely original content. I have a plethora of fandoms for you to choose from and my rate is $2 for every 100 words. Payment would take place after the story is finished. Here is how the process goes!
We discuss what you want and what your budget is.
I write. I don’t like writing with a solid word count goal in mind because depending on what you want, I might end up needing to stretch it out or cut it down and no one likes a choppy story. So I write until I feel the story is complete and has fulfilled your desires, and we calculate the price from how much I’ve written.
When I’m halfway done, you get to read it and see if it’s going in the right direction. If you don’t like it, I will then rewrite but rewrites will only occur at that halfway mark!
When the project is finished, I will then ask for payment BEFORE delivery. If there are any edits you want me to make, I’ll make them free of charge! (So long as it doesn’t involve rewriting the entire story, that will then be a separate payment.)
I have a couple rules, as well!
I can write some freaky NSFW stuff. Too freaky, and I might dip. Otherwise, it any NSFW will come at an extra charge. ($5 every 100 words)
I can write original content, but it will be twice the price due to the fact that I have no prior information to go off of for world building.
Here are some examples of my work: Phoenix Rising Hogwarts Mystery Surge of the West Avatar the Last Airbender I Am My Monster Steven Universe Flight from Vere Captive Prince

How to Find Best Mortgage Broker in Ontario
Ontario's housing market has been on the rise, with home prices increasing by over 15% in 2024. The stress-test rules now require many buyers to qualify for smaller loans than they expected, making it even more important to find the right mortgage broker. In Greater Toronto, the average home price hit $1.1 million in March 2025. This means that small differences in mortgage rates can translate into tens of thousands of dollars over the life of a loan. Working with the Best Mortgage Broker in Ontario can help you save time, money, and stress.
What You’ll Learn:
How to choose the right mortgage broker
Steps to research brokers in Ontario
Key questions to ask during interviews
Ontario-specific programs and incentives
Ontario Housing Insights:
The OSFI stress test, which increased on January 1, 2024, requires borrowers to qualify at the higher of their contract rate + 2% or the five-year benchmark rate (currently 6.45%).
The average home price in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) hit $1.1 million in March 2025, while the average price in rural Ontario was $630,000 in Q1 2025.
More buyers are seeking affordable housing options in cities like Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Ottawa.
What Does a Mortgage Broker Do?
A mortgage broker acts as an intermediary between you and lenders, such as banks, credit unions, monoline lenders, and private lenders. Instead of dealing with one lender, they gather your financial details, find the best mortgage options, and guide your application through the approval process.
Why Choose a Mortgage Broker?
Access to More Lenders: Brokers work with a variety of lenders, giving you access to a wider range of mortgage products than just the big banks.
Expert Guidance: They’re familiar with Ontario-specific regulations, including the OSFI stress test and down payment rules.
Save Time: Brokers handle most of the paperwork and communication with lenders, making the process more efficient.
How Do Mortgage Brokers Get Paid? Mortgage brokers are commission-based. This means they earn a commission from the lenders once the deal is closed, so their services come at no extra cost to you. Since their payment depends on a successful deal, brokers are motivated to find the best mortgage fit for you.
What to Look for in a Mortgage Broker
Experience & Expertise
FSRA Licensing: Ensure your broker is licensed through the FSRAO database.

Finding Reliable Kitchen Renovation Contractors In Hamilton
Renovating your kitchen is an exciting journey that can transform the heart of your home into a space that reflects your lifestyle and needs. Whether you’re looking for a modern upgrade or a complete overhaul, choosing the right contractor is key. If you’re in search of Kitchen Renovation in Hamilton, ON, this guide will help you navigate the process and make smart choices for your project.
Why Kitchen Renovations Are Worth It
The kitchen is more than just a place to cook — it’s where families gather, where meals turn into memories, and where design meets function. A well-done kitchen remodel in Hamilton, ON, can increase the value of your home, improve efficiency, and enhance everyday living. However, to achieve the kitchen of your dreams, you need a contractor you can trust.
Step 1: Start With a Clear Vision
Before you even start looking for contractors, take some time to think about what you want from your kitchen renovation. Do you need more space? Better lighting? Modern appliances or custom cabinets? Having a clear vision will help you communicate your ideas and expectations clearly to your contractor.
If you’re aiming for a custom kitchen renovation in Hamilton, list out specific elements that matter to you — whether it’s quartz countertops, a kitchen island with seating, or open shelving.
Step 2: Look for Local Experience
When it comes to finding the best kitchen renovations in Hamilton, ON, local experience matters. Contractors who have worked on homes in your area understand the local building codes, weather conditions, and neighborhood styles. A company like Kreative Construction & Renovations has earned trust by providing top-notch kitchen makeovers across Hamilton.
Look for contractors who can show you a portfolio of completed projects in Hamilton. Seeing their previous work gives you an idea of their craftsmanship and whether their style aligns with yours.
Step 3: Read Reviews and Ask for References
Online reviews can tell you a lot about a contractor’s reliability, professionalism, and quality of work. Sites like Google, Houzz, and HomeStars often feature customer testimonials and star ratings. Be sure to read both positive and negative reviews to get a balanced view.
Additionally, don’t hesitate to ask the contractor for references. Speaking directly with past clients can give you honest insights into what it’s like to work with them. Ask questions like:
Was the project completed on time?
Were there any surprises or hidden costs?
How did they handle communication and problem-solving?
Step 4: Check Credentials and Insurance
Make sure the contractor you hire is fully licensed and insured. This protects you in case of accidents or property damage during the renovation. In Ontario, all professional contractors should carry liability insurance and workers’ compensation coverage.
A reputable company like Kreative Construction & Renovations will have all the necessary certifications and will be happy to show them to you. Don’t take risks — working with licensed professionals ensures your project meets legal and safety standards.
Step 5: Get Detailed Quotes and Compare
Once you’ve shortlisted a few contractors for your kitchen renovation in Hamilton, ON, request written quotes. These should include:
Labour and material costs
Timeline of completion
Payment schedule
Warranties and guarantees
Avoid contractors who give vague estimates or pressure you into quick decisions. Take your time to compare quotes, and remember — the cheapest option isn’t always the best. Look for value, quality, and transparency.
Step 6: Visit Showrooms or Schedule Consultations
If possible, visit the contractor’s showroom or schedule an in-person consultation. This gives you a chance to meet the team, view material samples, and get a feel for how they approach design. For those interested in custom kitchen renovation in Hamilton, this step is especially helpful to explore your design options.
Kreative Construction & Renovations, for instance, offers consultations that help homeowners make informed choices based on layout, budget, and personal preferences.
Step 7: Communication Is Key
A smooth kitchen renovation depends heavily on good communication. From the first meeting to the final walkthrough, your contractor should be approachable, attentive, and responsive. Clear communication helps avoid misunderstandings and ensures that your vision is executed correctly.
During your kitchen remodel in Hamilton, ON, your contractor should keep you updated on progress, discuss any changes before making them, and provide timelines you can count on.
Red Flags to Watch Out For
Here are a few warning signs that a contractor might not be reliable:
Requests for full payment up front
Lack of a written agreement or quote
Poor communication or missed appointments
Unclear timelines or cost breakdowns
Negative or inconsistent reviews
Trust your instincts. If something feels off, it’s okay to walk away and choose someone else. Your kitchen is a big investment — don’t settle for anything less than professionalism and quality.
Benefits of Working with Kreative Construction & Renovations

Surrogate Parents For many infertile couples, the assistance of a surrogate mother represents one last hope for becoming a genetic parent. They thus turn to surrogate mothers, or women who bear children for couples who cannot become parents through normal pregnancy and childbirth (Gentry). With careful preparation on both sides, surrogate parenting can be a viable option for couples to conceive a child and add to their family. For many critics, the concept of a surrogate parent still retains the tinges of the 1986 Baby M. case, where the surrogate mother refused to give the baby to the intended parents. Others charge that this practice provides another opportunity for couples to exploit poor women. However, statistics show that the practice of surrogacy is steadily growing. Figures from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) show that there were 1,210 attempts at surrogacies in the year 2000, doubling the figure from 1997 (Hamilton). Since 1976, experts estimate that from 15,000 to 16,000 babies have been born through surrogate mothers in the United States alone (Kornreich). The rising popularity of surrogate parenting stems in part from new technology. In the Baby M. case, the surrogate mother was also the biological mother, because she was artificially inseminated with the intended father's sperm. Today, however, 95% of these types of pregnancy involve "gestational surrogacy," where the intended parents sperm and egg are used to create an embryo, that is then implanted into the surrogate's uterus. Though more expensive than traditional surrogacy, this type also insures that the intended parents are genetically related to their child (Gentry). For many surrogate mothers, the fact that the baby they are carrying is not their genetic child makes it easier to think of themselves as helpers or "aunts." Though many people worry of another Baby M. case, statistics show that out of 15,000 to 16,000 surrogate births, there were only 23 cases where the surrogate mother refused to relinquish the baby. Most of these cases were largely attempts to negotiate better payment terms. Reproductive law specialist Andrew Vorzimer adds that in most cases, the courts ruled in favor of the intended parents (Katz). New techniques of matching a surrogate mother and the intended parents have also given surrogates a more respected role in the process. After all, despite the compensation package, surrogate mothers rarely agree simply because of the money. Instead, they are women who have had children of their own, and are motivated by a desire to help other, childless couples. As a surrogate mother states, "those children needed me to walk them across a bridge to their parents" (Glazer). Other critics charge that couples who opt for surrogate mothers are merely selfish people who do not want to face the inconvenience or discomforts of a pregnancy. Such criticism, however, is unfounded. Most couples that opt for this technology have already been trying for years to get pregnant, through a variety of means. This includes Marla Cullington, who could not get pregnant due to fibroid tumors in her uterus. Like most mothers, Cullington declares that she "would give anything to be carrying (her) babies" (cited in Glazer). Also, the vast majority of physicians who specialize in reproductive endocrinology would not work with intended parents unless there is a clear evidence of medical need (Glazer). The cost alone is enough to discourage all but the most motivated parents. Though the expenses vary, many specialists agree that a couple could spend up to $65,000 in surrogate fees, hormone treatments, agency/lawyer fees and other related expenses (Kornreich). Also, in addition to infertile couples, the technique of surrogate parenting helps other people have families as well. Gay couples and single women are among the other people who have used surrogacy to become parents. Finally, a study by British psychologists has shown that couples who achieve parenthood through surrogacy exhibit better parenting skills than many parents who have children on their own. The study, the first scientific research on the effects of surrogacy, found that such families "are generally closer and better adjusted than those begun in conventional fashion" (cited in Gardner). Conducted by the Family and Child Psychology Research Center at London's City University, the study found that "surrogate" families rated higher that traditional families in indicators such as the mother's warmth and enthusiasm in talking about their children, the quality time spent by the mother and father with their child and the emotional attachment between mother and child. Experts ascribe this to the fact that many such couples have been waiting for years to become parents (cited in Gardner). In conclusion, despite popular fears and a well-publicized court case, the practice of surrogacy continues to thrive. New reproductive technologies as well as more compassionate and cooperative agreements between both sides have helped to address the previous problems associated with the surrogate process. Many infertile couples that cannot have genetic children any other way thus see surrogacy as a last chance to travel the road to parenthood. Works Cited Gardner, Marilyn. How would you achieve your dream of having all Americans be business owners? It doesn't seem very practical?
it's certainly not easy. there will have to be a pretty major restructuring of our economy. but tbh these tariffs are a good start.
first of all we'd have to radically simplify the process of creating a business. kill the paperwork. automate tax compliance. one-click llcs with built-in accounting. make it as easy as setting up an account for social media.
need access to capital. my dream is to nationalize the fed and restore something like hamilton's national bank. give your average citizens access to microgrants and zero interest loans.
make basic economics and finance a fundamental part of public school's curriculum. just imagine: school projects like "start your own business" and "make your first $100" and "how to pay taxes" and so on.
invest in shared infrastructure. community workshops. ghost kitchens. market places. makerspaces. (remember when covid hit and a lot of cities closed down their main streets to cars and they became these bustling hubs of pedestrian traffic and commerce? imagine if cities just made these places permanent market places where small business owners could peddle their goods and services?)
create a safety net that incentivizes risk taking and innovation and experimentation. so universal healthcare, basic income of some kind, liberal debt forgiveness, etc. whatever it takes so that starting a business doesn't risk a death sentence.
tax incentives. forgive the first $50k of small business/self-employment income or something (don't quote me on this -- just an example).
kinda related to nationalizing the fed and restoring the hamiltonian national bank: create some kind of government supported "universal basic bank account" where any prospective business owner gets easy access to bank accounts that can handle payments, invoicing, tax withholding, etc. even hooks into irs, state compliance, and benefits systems.
make platforms not so predatory. regulate marketplaces like etsy, uber, etc to enforce platform neutrality: cap take rates, ban dark patterns, require transparency in search algorithms, etc. or better yet: fund and federate co-op platforms as public utilities. don’t just empower individuals; de-fang the digital landlords.
#just a few ideas#there are probably more#but i bet if we did the above seriously at scale we would have millions of more people being self-employed#as independent self-sufficient producers#and america would be richer and healthier for it

How to Lower Insurance Costs for Your Trucking Business?
Running a trucking business comes with many operational expenses, and one of the most significant is insurance. While insurance is essential to protect your fleet, drivers, and cargo, the costs can quickly add up if not managed strategically. Lowering insurance premiums doesn’t mean cutting corners; it means making smart, informed decisions that reduce risk and improve safety. Here's how you can effectively reduce your trucking insurance costs.
Invest in Driver Training and Safety Programs
Insurance companies closely evaluate the safety record of your business. One of the best ways to improve your standing and reduce your premiums is by investing in comprehensive driver training programs. A well-trained driver is less likely to be involved in accidents, which in turn reduces claims and keeps your insurance costs down. Regular safety meetings, compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and proactive defensive driving courses can all play a crucial role.
Maintain a Clean Driving and Claims History
Insurance providers favor trucking companies with clean records. If your business has minimal claims and your drivers have few or no violations, you’re more likely to receive favorable insurance quotes. This makes it vital to regularly monitor driving records and encourage your team to adhere to best driving practices. Implementing telematics and dashcams can also provide evidence in disputes and help keep your drivers accountable.
Upgrade to Safer and Newer Equipment
The condition of your fleet plays a large role in determining your insurance premiums. Older vehicles are often seen as higher risk due to potential mechanical issues or lack of advanced safety features. Investing in newer trucks with modern safety technologies—such as collision mitigation systems, automatic braking, and electronic logging devices (ELDs)—can lead to lower premiums. While the upfront costs may be higher, the long-term savings in insurance and maintenance can make it worthwhile.
Optimize Coverage Based on Business Needs
It’s important to regularly review your insurance policies to ensure you're not over-insured or paying for unnecessary coverage. For instance, if you no longer haul certain types of cargo or serve specific regions, update your policy accordingly. Consulting with a licensed insurance broker can help tailor your coverage to match your current operations without compromising protection.
Improve Credit and Financial Stability
Insurers often evaluate the financial health of a business as part of the underwriting process. Companies with good credit scores and stable financial records are seen as lower risks, which can lead to more competitive rates. Maintaining organized financial records, managing debts wisely, and ensuring timely bill payments can all contribute to better insurance terms.
Work With Experts in Trucking Advisory Services
One of the most effective ways to lower insurance costs is by seeking guidance from professionals who understand the trucking industry. Experts offering trucking small business advisory services can help you evaluate risk, identify cost-saving opportunities, and connect you with reputable insurance providers. Their industry knowledge can be a valuable asset in negotiating better rates and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Conclusion
Lowering insurance costs for your trucking business requires a proactive and informed approach. From enhancing driver safety and maintaining clean records to upgrading equipment and consulting with industry advisors, there are numerous ways to reduce premiums without sacrificing coverage. By implementing these strategies, you can improve your bottom line while safeguarding your business on the road.

When Should You Consider Hiring a Business Broker in Hamilton?
If you are looking to buy or sell a business in the Hamilton area, the process can feel overwhelming. From valuation and negotiation to marketing and paperwork, there are numerous complex steps that require expertise. This is where a business broker in Hamilton comes into play. These professionals have the experience and knowledge to guide you through the entire transaction process, ensuring you achieve the best possible outcome. But when exactly should you consider hiring a business broker? Let’s explore the key reasons why and when hiring a business broker like Premium Mergers & Acquisitions may be essential to your success.
Understanding the Role of a Business Broker
Before delving into the timing, it’s important to first understand what a business broker does. A business broker in Hamilton acts as an intermediary between buyers and sellers, handling much of the legwork involved in buying or selling a business. They are experts in evaluating businesses, determining their worth, and marketing them to potential buyers. Additionally, brokers manage negotiations, facilitate due diligence, and help with the legalities of the transaction. In short, they simplify a complicated process, ensuring that the sale or purchase goes smoothly.
When Should You Consider Hiring a Business Broker in Hamilton?
While it may seem tempting to navigate the sale or purchase of a business on your own, there are several key reasons why enlisting the help of a professional business broker in Hamilton can be invaluable.
When You Need an Accurate Business Valuation
One of the first steps in selling a business is determining its value. A business broker Hamilton can help you assess the true worth of your business, taking into account factors such as revenue, assets, liabilities, market conditions, and industry trends. Without a solid valuation, it can be difficult to set a realistic price, which may result in undervaluing or overpricing your business.
If you're looking to sell your business, a fair valuation ensures that you receive a price that reflects its true market value. For buyers, a business broker Brampton can ensure that you are paying an appropriate price for the business you are interested in. Premium Mergers & Acquisitions, with its experience in the industry, can offer precise and trustworthy business evaluations to both buyers and sellers in the Hamilton area.
When You Want to Market Your Business to the Right Audience
Selling a business is not simply about listing it on a marketplace and waiting for a buyer to come along. To achieve the best price and terms, you need to market your business effectively to the right audience. A business broker Burlington has access to a wide network of potential buyers and a deep understanding of how to present your business to attract the right people.
Premium Mergers & Acquisitions, for example, employs a sophisticated marketing strategy to promote businesses to qualified buyers. They leverage both traditional and digital marketing methods, ensuring that your business reaches the people who are most likely to be interested. They also maintain confidentiality throughout the process, ensuring that your business remains secure and protected.
When You Need Help With Negotiations
Negotiating the terms of a business transaction can be one of the most difficult aspects of the process. It requires a delicate balance of assertiveness and flexibility, and a deep understanding of both the buyer’s and seller’s needs. This is where a business broker Burlington becomes invaluable.
Whether you’re selling or buying a business, a business broker Brampton will act as your advocate during negotiations, helping to secure terms that are favorable to you. They are skilled in managing the complexities of price, payment terms, contingencies, and other deal components. A broker like Premium Mergers & Acquisitions can also help manage any emotional aspects of the transaction, which can sometimes complicate negotiations. By relying on their expertise, you can rest assured that the deal will be structured in a way that works best for you.
When You Want to Ensure Legal and Regulatory Compliance
A business transaction is not just about agreeing on price and terms. There are numerous legal and regulatory issues that must be addressed throughout the process. Failing to properly navigate these issues can lead to costly mistakes and even legal trouble down the road.
A business broker Hamilton understands the regulatory landscape and can help ensure that your transaction complies with all relevant laws. They can assist with drafting agreements, managing confidentiality agreements, and ensuring that due diligence is thoroughly conducted. By partnering with Premium Mergers & Acquisitions, you can have peace of mind knowing that all legal requirements are being met and that the transaction is legally sound.
When You Want to Save Time and Effort
Selling or buying a business is a time-consuming and labour-intensive process. It involves everything from gathering financial documents and preparing business reports to screening potential buyers or finding the right business to purchase. If you're already running a business or managing other responsibilities, taking on this additional work can be overwhelming.
A business broker in Hamilton takes care of the heavy lifting, allowing you to focus on your day-to-day operations or other priorities. With their guidance, the process is streamlined and more efficient. Premium Mergers & Acquisitions helps save you both time and effort by handling the tedious details of the transaction and ensuring that things move forward smoothly.
When You Need Confidentiality
Confidentiality is one of the most important aspects of selling a business. If word gets out that your business is for sale, it could cause employees, customers, and competitors to panic, which may lead to negative consequences for your company. A business broker Burlington can handle sensitive information discreetly, ensuring that your sale remains confidential throughout the process.
At Premium Mergers & Acquisitions, maintaining confidentiality is a top priority. Their professional approach to business transactions ensures that all parties involved are protected and that your business’s reputation stays intact.
Conclusion
Hiring a business broker Hamilton can make all the difference when it comes to buying or selling a business. Whether you need an accurate valuation, help with negotiations, or assistance with regulatory compliance, these professionals can provide you with the expertise and resources necessary to achieve a successful transaction. At Premium Mergers & Acquisitions, their team of experienced brokers is dedicated to helping businesses in the Hamilton area navigate the complexities of buying and selling, making the process as smooth and efficient as possible. If you're considering selling or buying a business, the right time to hire a business broker is when you want to maximize your chances for success and ensure that the transaction goes smoothly.

Taking Writing Commissions!

What Is SIP Abacus?
SIP Abacus is a globally recognized educational program designed to develop mental arithmetic skills in children aged 5 to 12. By leveraging the ancient Chinese abacus, the program trains children to perform complex calculations mentally, fostering both left and right brain development. This dual-brain stimulation enhances concentration, memory, and overall cognitive abilities.

SIP Abacus offers a tiered curriculum tailored to different age groups and skill levels:
Junior Module (Ages 5–7): Focuses on basic abacus techniques, number recognition, and simple arithmetic operations.
Foundation Module (Ages 8–10): Introduces more complex calculations, including multi-digit addition and subtraction.
Advanced Module (Ages 10–12): Covers multiplication, division, and mental visualization techniques.
Grand Master Module: Prepares students for competitive exams and enhances problem-solving skills.
3. Multiple Learning Centers
SIP Abacus has established centers in key locations across New Zealand:
Auckland: Mount Roskill, Flat Bush, North Shore, Henderson, and Takanini.

These centers provide in-person classes, ensuring personalized attention and a conducive learning environment.
