Summary: Where Reader gets kidnapped with Aaron Hotchner and forced to do things that puts them in an uncomfortable position, and Dr. Spencer Reid is determined to help reader get back to a new normal.

A/N: this is my first time writing for CM I’m in the early seasons so I’m not too familiar with these characters yet but thought of this plot. I also am not familiar with tumbler so Please leave any suggestions! I am trying my best thank you!! Semi-proofed read!

It was a normal day for everyone at the BAU chaotic but nothing out of the ordinary for the members

“Hey, I was thinking” Spencer said as he suddenly appeared by your side as you were walking towards the break room to get to the coffee machine. He looked nervous but that was a constant for him.

“How about we-”

“Meeting room, now.” JJ says cutting off the man next to you

Spencer sighed but nodded and you gave him an apologetic look as you made your way with him right behind you.

“Okay todays case takes place in Phoenix, Arizona there have been multiple murders the past month and bodies turning up in canals” JJ says as she showed pictures of the victims

Men and women, tied up together with marks covering their bodies and bruises on their faces. It was a brutal attack.

“Are they tied up together?” Morgan asked, JJ nodded “He takes them in couples, tortures them, makes them commit acts on one another, then discards them in the water canals at night when no one is watching.” she says “This is James O’Connell and Lorie Matthew’s unsubs most recent victims, they were out on their third date together and never returned to their homes”

She flashed more photos of them, there were stabbings in their genital areas meaning the unsub was most likely a sexual sadistic murderer which only meant from here on out if continued the murders were only going to get worse.

The team talked amongst each other throwing out ideas of how the unsub portrays themselves

“This can’t be one person right?” You ask “It’s two people, wouldn’t that be a lot to handle for one person?”

The others nodded seeing what you were getting at but still unsure “He has a weapon, with a gun you can get anyone to do anything especially if there’s an unfair advantage” Hotch says

“Right” you muttered but still not fully convinced

“Wheels up in 30, we’ll discuss more on the jet ” Hotch tells the team and exits the room you sighed gathering your belongings “Agent aren’t you from Arizona?” Prentiss asked

You looked up at her “yeah, Phoenix”

“I didn’t know you were from Phoenix” Reid joins the conversation “uh yeah it’s not really much to talk about, but hey maybe I can actually be out on the field this time. Tired of being in the station.” You confess to them

“Yeah, I’ll be sure to let Hotch know, he’ll definitely let you. You will be a big help.” Prentiss says as she walks out you nodded and stood up from your seat

You were still considered a newbie despite being on the team for a year and a half, you weren’t really out with Hotch and Prentiss when you got a case mostly sticking with Reid and that’s how you guys got so close

“Here’s a map of where the bodies were left” Reid says and hands an already marked up map “familiar?”

You looked “yeah. This canal is in a neighborhood.” You furrowed your eyebrows and looked at him “This neighborhood it’s not the wealthiest, a lot well at least back then most of the people minded their own business which makes sense why no one seen the unsub.” You tell him

“How do you know that?” He asked “I used to live in this neighborhood.” You pointed on the map right next to where the canal is “My friends and I when we were younger used to walk around there. That canal was a shortcut to get to and home from school.”

“So you’re really familiar with this area.” He said you nodded. Spencer can feel your nerves and laid a comforting hand on your shoulder giving it a squeeze before guiding you out the room

“You guys are welcome to set up here, and take up more space if needed. This case needs to be solved. Nothing like this has ever happened.” Officer Flake tells your team you can tell this has been stressing her with the way her body looked so tired and her eyes looked un-rested. You were happy to be able to help.

“Thank you, we will get right on it.” Hotch told her and from then on out the team hung up pictures and maps with sticky notes that had every detail needed to try and understand this unsub.

“Morgan, Rossi you go talk to the first victims families gather as much information you can. Prentiss and I will talk to the second victims families and do the same.”

Hotch looked at you and you thought it was going to be something different but he frowned “You and Reid stay here. Continue profiling him.”

You agreed not wanting to protest, Prentiss sighed and gave you an apologetic look but you brushed it off and turned to Spencer “Let’s do this.”

In about and hour or two you and Spencer determined the unsub was definitely a male, the unanswered question was if it was two, and if it were two unsubs they had to be very similar to each other.

“So unsub possibly unsubs definitely male, not good at romantic or sexual relationships that’s why he takes interest in these couples, has to work in a setting where he is able to see these couples which can be a restaurant.” You say to Reid going over your guys notes he nodded listening to every detail that spilled our of your mouth trying to see if anything could’ve been missed before the unsub was officially profiled

“Guys, another body has been found in the same canal as the recent one. This time it is only the male.” JJ says as she hardly rushed into our area “what? Is he purposefully making it easy?” You ask

“Maybe this wasn’t the plan for him, maybe it was a mistake.” Reid suggests “a mistake?” You questioned

“Yeah unsub has to live close to that canal, it’s been used more than once maybe he got rid of the body twice in that canal because it’s closest. The murdered victim had to be a lot to handle for this unsub to just leave him, probably didn’t have enough time to find another canal.” Spencer tells you and it made sense

“Okay, let’s go.” You grabbed the keys throwing them at Spencer who smoothly caught them and made your way to the black SUV

When you got to the scene Hotch, Prentiss, Morgan, and Rossi were already there “Have anything?” Hotch asked Spencer nodded and went through the profile

“He has to live around this neighborhood.” You say almost confidently, Hotch licked his lips “suit up.” He said looking at you sternly causing you to quickly make your way to the SUV to get a vest “need help?” Spencer asked noticing the way your nervous hands fumbled the vest

“Uh yeah sorry, I’m a bit nervous” you embarrassingly confess “yeah, I was too.” He half smiled and tightened the vest remembering his first time out on the field

“Be safe.” He told you with a serious tone you looked deep in his eyes “of course.”

You walked back to Hotch “We can’t waste anymore time, Prentiss, Morgan take the left neighborhood look for any clues, anything out of the ordinary, Rossi and Reid take the right neighborhood look for the same, We will take this center neighborhood. You know it best right?” Hotch asked you “yes”

“He has to be in this neighborhood, it’s closest to the canal and easier access.” You tell Hotch he nodded and with that everyone broke off into their groups

Why would he only leave the man? Why all of the sudden change in the murders? So many questions ran through your mind as you searched the neighborhood

After a while you came across an abandoned house well at least it looked abandoned. This house screams trauma, it always had. Memories resurface in your head walking through this very neighborhood and seeing this house.

“It has to be this one.” You tell Hotch “I agree.” He said and with that you guys pointed your guns Hotch clearing the area around before knocking on the door of course there was no answer and he busted it down clearing the entry way “take left wing, I’ll take right.”

“Alright” you said and separated from your partner doing as he said then all of the sudden everything went black.. and that was all you can recall about entering that house…

You opened your eyes, head spinning, vision blurred and body sore “huh” you breathed as you felt something wet dripping down your face you go to touch and see red immediately panicking you get up and look around you were in a room, a dark room your feet chained to a pillar. How did this happen?

You didn’t want to be loud, and let the unsubs know you were awake but something told you they already knew since you could hear voices behind a door your heart raced uncertain of what you were about to face

“Hello princess” a guy creepily smiled as he opened the door with a bowl of something in his hands you quickly sat back down not wanting to intimidate the unsub

“Brought you a present.” He placed the bowl in front of you

Water.

“Where is Hotch?” You asked sternly not wanting to let him know how truly scared you were

“Aaron Hotchner.” The guy repeated you nodded

“Well sweetie, you’ll see him soon enough.” He evilly laughed your mouth fell open slightly but you closed it real quick “he’s ready sir.” Another voice said “bring him in”

You got up on your feet and there was Hotch being pushed in with a bag over his head and his hands chained together in the back of him, you felt bad seeing your boss in this state, this wasn’t supposed to happen.

The unsub pulled the bag off of Hotch and dragged him closer. Your guys eyes met, he looked worried not really scared but his eyes softened once they landed on you “get down” the unsub screamed at Hotch and he did as told “we don’t want any problems.” Hotch said trying to reconcile with this crazy man

“Right.” He laughed in our face as he rolled his eyes “I know what you guys are, and I know you guys are onto me.” He tells us “I can’t let you guys ruin me”

“Well to be quite frank sir you already ruined it for yourself by kidnapping two agents, you need to end this now! We have a team out looking for us and trust me when I say they’re really good at their job.”

He didn’t sound scared at all, and if he was he was doing a damn good job at not showing it “yeah well we’ll see how long it takes them.”

You sighed as you threw your head back onto the brick wall “Jordan come in here!” The guy yelled and another one entered.

I knew it was two you thought

Jordan came in gun drawn on “what demands do you have for these two agents?” The older one asked Jordan creepily smiled and laughed

Yeah these two definitely have a hard time with romantic relationships.

“Remove her top.” Jordan demanded your heart dropped, there definitely could’ve been worse situations than this one but he was your boss, and so much more older than you, you had to see this guy everyday for the rest of your work life.

You look at Hotch and he bit his lips he looked angry but you knew he was just trying to come up with something to distract them “I’m not doing that.” He flat out said

“Why not?!” Jordan asked losing his temper and pointing the gun at your head “This bitch will die!” He said throwing a fit like a toddler

“Because his hands are chained to the back of him” You said Hotch looked at you “He needs them in the front of him.”

Jordan smiled and nodded “you want him to touch you.” You wore a disgusted face seeing how excited it made this guy

“She’s right. I can’t undress her if my hands are not near her.” Hotch agreed, you were glad he understood that you had a plan I mean why wouldn’t he? He’s smart.

“Try anything, and I’ll be so quick to shoot the both of you pigs!” The other guy who still hasn’t given his name shouts and Jordan nodded “You’ll make it worse if you try to pull a fast one.”

“We wont” Hotch said assuring them as he showed his chains to them waiting for them to be removed, your arms weren’t chained but your feet were so you had to think fast and carefully of a solution but everything happened in an instant it was hard to recall what went wrong

“You asshole!” Jordan screamed as he fell back causing the other unsub to quickly jump onto Hotch trying to gain control again

You pulled the unsub off of him slamming him onto the floor but then the back of a gun collided with your face instantly making you back off

“Shit.” You grumbled holding your face and then hear a gunshot go off making you look at Hotch he winced as he held the side of him “fuck.” You muttered quickly moving towards him

“It’s fine, it just grazed me.” He assures. You looked at him with panic “I told you sons of bitches what would happen!” Jordan yelled hitting his hand on the wall upset with what just went down

“It’s fine, calm down.” The older guy said “his hands are to the front now.”

You looked at Hotch and felt disappointed not with him but just with the events taking place today you look at the two guys in front of you and they knew how badly you didn’t want to be in this situation

“We got to make this quick.” Jordan says and he grabs you buy your hair making you go closer to Hotch “undress her!” He yelled

“What do you get out of this!?” You shouted “You’re a loser! So scared of woman you can’t touch them yourself?”

He got angry, and wrapped his hands around your neck “I’m not scared of anyone.” He said “get off of her.” Hotch shouted as he kicked Jordan in the leg to push him away

“You bitch touch me one more time, and I swear this bullet will be in the center of your forehead!” Jordan screamed as he had his gun pointed to Hotch

You and Hotch tried your best to stall as much but it was getting clear and clear as the seconds passed that time was running out and maybe your team was going to be late in rescuing the two of you

“Now go on.” Jordan said Hotch sighed and you just nodded towards him “It’s fine.” You assure him even though you were struggling more than you were showing “I’m sorry.” He whispered but you looked away not wanting to make eye contact with anyone

“Slow,” Jordan whispered and nodded. Knowing Hotch didn’t want to give him the satisfaction he unbuttoned your blouse fast “God dammit!” Jordan yelled as he threw a punch at Hotch you winced not liking the noise of it all

“Hotch don’t!” You tell him “Don’t make it worse, just listen to them. Please.” You beg not wanting him to get more hurt than he already was, you couldn’t lose him here. That was the last thing you wanted was to be alone with these two.

He took a deep breath as much as he didn’t want to give in to them he could tell how scared you were so he agreed “Now her pants.”

Hotch grimaced “stand up sweetheart” the older unsub demanded of you tears started welling in your eyes, you looked at Hotch and he was turned facing the wall as his hands found the button on your pants

“Look at her! Don’t you want to see what she has to offer, don’t act like you never wondered about her. Seeing her everyday would make any man go crazy.” Jordan smirked, you don’t like being perceived as what Jordan was saying and you knew a thought like that never crossed Hotch’s mind but it still made you uncomfortable

Once your pants were off you stood there in your bra and underwear you felt so little standing in a room with these two men “come forward” the older one said to you and you did as asked, he grabbed a sharp knife and ripped your pants so they were not around the chains he then pushed you back and tears fell down your face and landed on Hotch

He looked up at you seeing you stare into the wall, he stood up and wiped them away “Now sweetie, don’t you want to return the favor?” Jordan asked

“No how about we start getting to the fun part already.” The older guy said with a menacing smile “kiss her”

“What are we in 5th grade?” Hotch asked “You guys are sick, and I promise when I get my hands on the two of you, you’ll wish you just died.” He said his eyes not leaving them

They both just laughed until the older one stopped and slashed his knife into the side of you, you groaned falling down holding the cut it wasn’t deep but it stung bad “fuck”

“You’re gonna keep talking?” Jordan asked Hotch, Hotch helped you up and put his hand on your wound putting pressure on it “It’s okay.” You say reassuring not only him but yourself as well

“Do it now or she gets stabbed this time in her throat!” You closed your eyes shut trying to go to a different place trying to pretend like none of this was happening but it was hard with Hotch’s rough hand on your chin and you being able to feel his breath near your neck

You knew he felt just as embarrassed about this and you weren’t sure how he was keeping his composure so well, after these events you weren’t sure if you were even cut out to be in this field, you felt so fragile so weak and helpless.

Once you felt his lips on your neck you squeezed your eyes shut “there you go” Jordan said “come on sweetie, you scared to touch him? You ever touch a man before?”

“Shut the hell up” you said as your hands found your way onto Hotch’s arms you were humiliated and had given up hope until finally by some miracle the door had been thrown down “in here!” Someone shouts and you turn to see police officers with their guns drawn on the two suspects

You never felt so relieved before “Hold up, hold up.” Hotch said with his hands up and stepping in front of you “unlock me, and give me a cover!” He demanded quickly an officer came with bolt cutters releasing him and another left for a cover

Hotch took off his blazer and covered you in it and next you were cut free you took a deep breath of relief so happy to be out of this nightmare “A blankets on the way.” Hotch told you “thanks.” You said as you looked to the floor you can feel Hotch’s eyes burning into you but you couldn’t look at him

Once Hotch was handed the blanket he covered you and finally stepped away where the two of you were guided out the house, you were in a different location not the house you both had busted in earlier

You looked around and seen your team they all looked worried and relieved and unknowing of what you and Hotch just went through, your eyes found Spencers and quickly looked away from him.

You were mandated to go to the hospital to get checked and that is where they gave you stitches for your stab wound, you wanted to go alone but JJ and Prentiss were not going to let that happen

You could tell they wanted to know what went on while you two were kidnapped but decided against it seeing the state you were left in, they knew you were undressed but that was all that they were told

“Hey, want to get some food? We can just eat in the hotel and watch a movie?” JJ suggested to you “I’m sorry guys, I just really need to be alone after this.” you tell them they both nodded

You looked at your feet and wiggled them and seeing the bruising from the chains, it felt nice being free.

“Okay Agent, here are your release papers.. You should be good to go.” Dr. Santana says as she hands your papers over and smiles “okay.” is all you said as you exited the room

You had gotten sweats and a shirt from somewhere not sure who's it was but it was given to you “Agent, you know at any time you can talk to us right?” Prentiss asked making sure you knew you weren't going through anything alone

“Umm yeah, I'm fine. Just check in with Hotch for me please? He needs it just as much as I do.” you told the both of them “Yeah of course.” JJ responded

You smiled at both of the girls and turned around quickly the same smile disappearing you walked to the black SUV and prentiss drove you guys back to the hotel you were staying at for the night

You didn't want to hear any updates from the case, it was done, it was over and they were long gone.

“Your hotel card.” JJ said as she handed you the room key you smiled and took it “Spencer grabbed your bag and put it in there. Need anything before we leave you?” you shook your head and made your way to the stairs, elevators were a no for you.

Once you made it to your established room you tried to get the card to work the door but it wasn't going “what the hell.” you sighed you continued to try

“Everything alright?” a deep voice asked you turn quickly and saw Hotch you tried to speak but no words wanted to come out so you just nodded. He eyed you knowing you were lying so he gently took your card and pressed it against the scanner

Green. Door was opened.

“Thank you.” you say as you looked down waiting for him to leave “Are you good?” he asked “yup”

“Agent.” he sternly said causing you to finally meet his eyes and there you broke down falling to the floor not able to keep it in not that you were able to from the beginning but these were hard sobs that had been needing to come out since you were released from that house

Hotch quickly grabbed you pulling you into him “I'm sorry.” you apologized and he held your head “Dont be, we had no control over what happened today.” he comforted you and you looked at him shocked to see tears welling in his eyes

“I don't think I can continue.” you say to him “Today made me realize I'm not as strong as I thought I was, I'm not made for any of this.”

He wiped your tears for the second time today and shook his head “Agent you're stressed, trust me as the days go by its going to be in the back of your mind.”

You shook your head “Its not, I'm not going to forget.” “Everything alright out here?” you hear another voice and look to see spencer he was confused and worried when he seen the way you looked so broken

Quickly you tried to compose yourself wipe your tears and step away from Hotch “Its fine.” you tell him “Are you sure?” spencer asked again “I need sleep.” you tell the both of them and scurry into your room slamming the door and locking it

The two men looked at each other worried “She needs time.” Hotch tells the man in front of him “What happened?” Spencer asked but Hotch just shook his head “She’ll tell when she's ready.”

“I want to help her, I need to know.” Spencer demanded but he got nothing in return he sighed and watched Hotch walk away

He knocked on her door but no answer “Look you don’t have to tell me what happened today, but I need to know you’re good. I can’t leave you like this.”

The door slowly opened and Spencer walked inside “Just sleep in here..please.” You said Spencer nodded and made his way to the extra bed. . .

WIP Wednesday 2/12/25

It is once again Wednesday! I have four fics on offer this week because I may have accidentally started another one. Neil Finds a Baby Part 5

It was a long night. Neil finally got the baby to sleep after finishing off the bottle and changing his diaper again. He made sure it was warm enough inside their room to sleep without a blanket, then lay pillows around the baby so it wouldn't roll under the bed or into the wall. He lay down on the bed and fell asleep around 3 am.

He woke up to crying at 6. He changed the baby's wet diaper then tried to rock him back to sleep. After about ten minutes, he gave up and tried making another bottle. He threw his dirty shirt over his shoulder when he burped the baby this time and rocked the baby again. This time he finally fell asleep and Neil joined him.

The baby slept longer the second time. Neil was thankful for the quiet. He woke up before the baby this time and made a plan for the day. He needed to keep moving. His plan was to make it to Arizona. He'd found a small town on a map that he thought would work well. Even with a baby in tow, he thought it would still be a good place to hide from his father. He could get bus tickets from Fresno to Las Vegas and figure out something from there. He would probably need a baby seat if he wanted to take a car from Phoenix to Millport. He would also probably need to find a place to stay where he could hide the baby.

Neil decided to start his day by visiting Walmart again and finding a parenting book. He could read through it and return it when he was done. He was reasonably sure that he could stay one more day in the Motel 6 without his father finding him. That would give him some time to figure out what he was going to do with the kid. First, though, the kid needed to wake up.

8. Where are you from?

This is always a crazy and complicated question for like no reason. Most people rattle off where they are from and are done with it...sigh.

I was born in Germany, am both American and German and have moved around all my life. Like 20 times between being a military brat and having been in the military myself. I currently live in Germany but certainly am more American than German culturally. My native language is English.

I have literally had people get annoyed at me that I'm like, oh I've lived there and there and there because most people have a strong identity with where they are from.

I claim Phoenix Arizona as home though, because it was the place I felt the most connection to out of everywhere I have ever lived.

13. What talents do you have?

Not many 😆 Or at least it feels that way sometimes because none of them are relevant in the grand scheme of things? I've always been one of those people in search of what they are good at, like I have no real talent in art or music, have tried to dabble here and there. I'm really good at baking and cooking. Like, I genuinely believe I have a talent at that. I'm the type of person who can take 7 ingredients and no recipe and make something. I'll never be master chef level but I am pretty good.

I was one of those people that never studied and passed a test. I have a photographic memory, in the sense that I can read a page of info 5 minutes before a test and memorize it (temporarily).

I can write. I've always been good at writing. I can write a lot and detailed in a short amount of time. Which is a great talent to have in academics (and fanfic). Whether the quality or content is good is another thing entirely.

21. Have you ever been to the hospital?

I used to work in a hospital so yes, all the time 😆. But as a patient, yes, several times. I've had several surgeries and medical issues that have deemed that necessary that I spent far more time in a hospital than I would have liked. I have a couple of chronic disabilities that make going to specialist appointments at hospitals necessary.

46. What is your personality type?

With the MBTI I'm a INFP, the mediator. For the Enneagram I'm a 6, the skeptic.

69. Extrovert or Introvert?

I answered this one in another ask, but both. I am an ambivert. Even on the MBTI, although I come up as an introvert personality, I always score as like 52 percent introvert. Somewhere in the middle. Like, I need social interaction at times. But then I need my alone time too.

71. What makes you nervous?

I have anxiety...so...everything? 😆 No but for real. Silly things. Being the passenger in a car makes me crazy nervous. When there is a lot of tension in a room. Crowds where the atmosphere is charged. I can go to a concert for example, or a convention and be fine but if there is a demonstration or something, I can't be there. I'm too on edge. Also, public speaking or being in front of a crowd. Tension in movies. I can't watch horror movies at all, but even in thriller movies or action movies, if the tension ramps up, I am so so nervous.

73. Do you correct people when they make a mistake?

I try not to be that person. But yes. Often.

95. What are your weaknesses?

Math. Running of any kind, even prior to my leg injury, I was probably the slowest person in any given run test. Reading a map or giving directions. I can barely tell my left from right. Any sort of hands on artistic craft.

It was a mother’s job to worry, and his mother had had a hell of a time since they’d arrived in California. Michael kept reminding himself of that every time his patience ran low. Most women in her place would be behaving the same way when faced with the prospect of their family becoming vampires. Yet the eldest Emerson couldn’t help his steadily growing sense of irritation as she fussed. Perhaps some of the Boys’ attitude had worn off on him, but he didn’t appreciate being treated like a child no matter where her concern was coming from.

He was nineteen, not nine. The turmoil of the divorce had already caused him to defer for a year. If he did it again, he may very well lose his scholarship - and that was a possibility Michael wasn’t willing to entertain. He and Star would be fine in Arizona. He had lived there practically his whole life. It wasn’t as though he were going to a foreign country or another planet. He knew the lay of the land well, and if he needed help…his father and half of his paternal family was still living in Phoenix. They’d have all the help they needed and then some, even if the help wasn’t coming from her. And that was the rub, wasn’t it?

Eyes softening the tiniest bit, Michael sidled up beside her and drew her into a sideways hug as he nodded in response to her questions. “The truck’s packed. We’ve got a map and extra gas. We’ll be okay, Mom,” he promised her. “And hey, Thanksgiving’ll be here before you know it. We’ll come visit again then, okay?”

Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to announce her running mate by Tuesday, when she will hold her first rally with her pick in Philadelphia. The two will barnstorm cities in seven swing states in four days. In addition to Philadelphia, they’ll hit western Wisconsin, Detroit, Raleigh, Savannah, Phoenix and Las Vegas. The stops will mark the first major campaign swing the presumptive ticket will make since Harris became the all-but-certain Democratic presidential nominee following President Joe Biden’s sudden departure from the race. The tour also underscores that the campaign believes the electoral map has expanded since Biden passed the baton to Harris. The details of Harris and her running mate’s schedule were first shared with POLITICO by the campaign.

Harris’ decision to kick off her tour in the biggest city in Pennsylvania is sure to set off speculation about her vice presidential pick. One of the top contenders being vetted by Harris’ team is Josh Shapiro, the governor of the swing state. If Harris chooses Shapiro as her running mate, Philadelphia would make an obvious place to roll out the news, given that he hails from the area’s suburbs. But it’s also a diverse, vote-rich city that every presidential nominee must tend to thanks to the state’s 19 electoral votes, and it’s possible Harris’ plans don’t signal anything beyond that. A Harris campaign aide cautioned against reading too much into the first city chosen for the tour.

Harris said a decision about her No. 2 spot on ticket has not been finalized. Asked by reporters on Tuesday if she has selected her running mate, she said “not yet.” Harris is planning to interview potential vice presidential nominees in the upcoming days, said people familiar with the vetting process and granted anonymity to speak freely. Other names in the mix include Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and her yet-to-be revealed VP pick will begin a swing-state tour on Tuesday, August 6th in Philadelphia, PA.

Arizona Cocktail Weekend is a drinks event where Bars put Phoenix on the mixology map In addition to hospitality pros.

Events take place across the city. The three ticketed, signature events of the weekend – Cocktail Carnival, Top Bars and Last Slinger Standing – are placed at spaces in and around downtown Phoenix.

Sam attended the Top Bars event on Sunday at Warehouse 215, where the attendees enjoyed a variety of bars and cocktail lounges all in one location. The bartenders showcased their skills by crafting signature cocktails using small-batch distillers and producers rather than focusing on brand owners.

Although Sassenach's was one of the sponsors, it wasn't mentioned in the Arizona Cocktail Week program. This event seems to be an extension of his winter tour at wine shops, where fans are still eager for more JAMMF. 🤦‍♀️

It's important to clarify that Sam is neither a spirits maker nor a producer of his drinks, 🥃 nor is he a bartender. How should we evaluate SH's attendance? What exactly was Sam doing behind the cocktail bar? Was he serving mixed drinks🍸🍹 or was he acting as the host of the party?

Additionally, Alex, his business partner overly dependent on Sam, who seems to be consistently by Sam's side, is essentially attached at the hip. Alex also appeared to be clinging to a bottle of Sassenach gin and leftover items from the winter tour, including Sassenach stickers, napkins, plastic cups, and pins. He even forgot his rock tour T-shirts.

When a fan hopes that he whispers "Sasseach" in her ear at a drinking party, I don't understand what she means. His female fans buy him drinks not for the contents of the bottle, but for the character he portrays in a fictional series. Therefore "You will not market another kind of customer that you have already got”.

* What was Alex doing there?

* Maybe He is not an observing Muslim or has a different interpretation of his faith. But Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar began on the evening of Friday 28 February and will conclude on the evening of Sunday 30 March —it is unlawful for a Muslim to knowingly and willingly partake in, support, or promote an event where they expect to be amidst alcohol drinking.

Hello!! I'm sorry if you've already answered this, but I was wondering how early you queued up for your ritual? Mine is in a few days, and I'm not sure how early to plan to be up and out the door. I would love to get barricade or close to it if I can! I was also wondering if you had any other tips for waiting in line for a while? Hydration and SPF are definitely gonna be a priority for me.

P.S. I always see you answering questions for others here in a very thorough and non-judgmental manner, and I really appreciate the positivity you bring to the fandom! Thank you for being around and creating such a welcoming space. It's one of the biggest reasons I've stayed interested in engaging in the fandom side of things.

I think I have answered this on Tumblr already, but I don't mind talking about this again lol, especially since I think it was only in a comment on a post and not an actual post. I never mind going into details either. And thank you so much, there are some really shitty spaces in this fandom 👉👈🥹 I'm just trying to help keep the vibe on Tumblr friendly and welcoming. Nearly everyone here has been super lovely, so I'm lucky to be part of this side of the fandom 🖤

In Phoenix my friend group (four of us) showed up a little after 5:30 in the morning. There were four people ahead of us who lined up at midnight and 3:30 am. Because the pit was so small for the Phoenix ritual (I'm guessing 200 people max), only about two dozen people were in line by eight in the morning and every single one of us was on the barricade. This will be different for every venue depending on how it's sectioned off (pit vs seats vs lawn/grass etc.). So for a larger venue with a bigger pit section, you'll likely see more people lining up earlier in the morning.

The venue itself was extremely hospitable and allowed us inside the lobby area to use the restroom and refill our water bottles, except during soundcheck from around 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Obviously that's a venue thing, and not something I had ever experienced before, but you may get lucky, especially if the venue has security hanging out with the line in the daytime. Another tip if you haven't checked already, see if there are Fast Pass options for your venue that you can purchase as an add-on from Ticketmaster or through the local box office. Regardless of what time you show up or your number in line, those with a Fast Pass will always get through the doors first.

What I did before I knew that using the venue for water and bathrooms was an option was check out the surrounding area on Google maps. The Arizona Financial Theatre is in Downtown Phoenix, so there were a number of restaurants and I think a CVS within a half-mile that people from the line would occasionally visit (it also gave us a reason to walk around the venue and check out the tour busses lol). If this is an option, you can also scope out the venue the day/evening before the ritual; this is especially helpful if there's another concert going on that day, so you can see where the line forms for your venue and what the sunlight situation is like.

Since I didn't drive and I showed up to the venue using rideshare, I made the mistake of wearing my ritual outfit and makeup the entire day. It wasn't awful, but I am now sporting fishnet tan-lines on my legs 😆 What others did was show up in their pajamas or general street clothes, and closer to doors they changed into their ritual outfits and did their makeup in their cars. That's probably the only thing I would have done differently, to be honest; bring your outfit with you, and dress for the weather accordingly that day. Keep an eye on your weather app, especially if you're travelling and unfamiliar with the area you'll be waiting in. Also, check to see what time the sunrise happens in that location, because that's what made my friends and I decide on lining up at 5:30. No band is worth getting harassed in the middle of the night for, especially if you're in an all female/femme group.

Something that goes nicely along with SPF and hydration is earplugs. I bought knockoff Eargasm earplugs off Amazon since I knew I'd be going to a festival and 2 concerts within a week and didn't want to go deaf. They worked amazingly for me, in the pit at SNW, on the barricade in Phoenix, and at the back of the venue in Albuquerque, plus I didn't have to deal with my ears ringing for hours after.

This last thing isn't so much of a tip, but! Since you'll have the time while waiting and you're trying for barricade, learn the lyrics to an Empire State Bastard song or two. Specifically the last song of their set, The Looming. It's one of their more "chill" songs and has clean vocals. One of my friends started singing it back to the band during her second ritual of the tour, and Simon (the singer, and also likely one of baby Vessel's influences) got so happy he pointed her out in the crowd. Then you can make some British Millennials™️ very jealous by boasting about how the dude from Biffy Clyro pointed you out in a crowd.

This also isn't much of a line tip either, but if you're planning on filming/taking photos, use ESB as your test subjects to tweak your camera settings. That way you're not fumbling so much with your phone while Sleep Token is on stage.

Welcome to the Badlands Series

Summary: After Bren's return, Nix gets shocking information that pushes her to figure out the types of magic that are weaving their stories. She gets an unexpected answer and more questions.

Things were certainly different after Bren came home. It was clear that his bond with Lydia was closer, almost child and mother in nature. Which was good in my opinion. He needed a positive parental figure in his life.

He also seemed calmer, as if his magic wasn’t weighing him down anymore. Or, at least not as much as it had before. My knowledge of druid magic was less than zero so I had no idea if the trip was really all he needed or if he found a healthier way to express that power.

The longer we were here in the Badlands, the less I understood. Which was unacceptable to me. Two different types of magic was brought into this world when Bren and I took over Jacobee’s old barony. But there was another type of magic already established here according to Bren. It just hadn’t reared its ugly head yet.

I decided the best course of action was to find anyone with books on the Badlands. The first thing I did was get a map of the Badlands and an old map of the US to compare and try to figure out for once exactly where we were. Once I had locations down, the information from the books would make sense.

It took most of the day and my entire desk, but I was soon able to figure out where the Dragon Barony lay: Texas. Roughly, anyway. In fact, the very mountains we found Meraxes were the mountains that bordered Mexico. Making the estate close to where Austin once stood. I did the best math I could and found that Rojas territory was mostly New Mexico with Chau’s being parts of Northern Arizona, parts of Utah, and parts of Colorado. I wish I had looked at this map before the spontaneous trip a few months back. We were practically in Chau’s backyard when I proposed to Sunny.

I then moved the other direction and figured Quinn’s property was mostly Louisiana with parts in Arkansas. Would explain his shitty accent. It was no doubt a mix of a Southern accent, Creole, and an aristocratic twist he tried to add.

Lydia came in at that moment and cleared her throat when I didn’t turn around at the sound of the door opening. “Nix?”

I looked up from my desk and raised an eyebrow at the sheet of paper in Lydia’s hand. “Is that wedding stuff?”

“Yes and no.”

“Well, that’s not concerning or anything.”

“Not your wedding, anyway.”

I blinked at her. “Bren’s not engaged or I would have Quinn’s nuts in a jar on my desk.”

Lydia balked at the image. “No, thankfully. Well, not yet. I convinced Bren to hold court.”

“Hold…court…” my brain could only link those words to one world I knew. “Lydia, we’re barons, not kings.”

Lydia smiled. “Not that kind of court. Here.”

She held out the sheet, and I carefully took it from her. It was an invitation meant to be sent to all the baronies, calling for them to submit a suitor for Bren’s hand. It was a courtship court.

“Ah. And you actually got Bren to agree to this?”

“He’s lonely, Nix. He did what he did to free Sunny for you, but now…”

I let out a long sigh. “Yeah, I know. You do realize this means that asshat is allowed an entry. I really don’t want that man stepping foot in our barony.”

“Unfortunately, it’s the rules for court. But, a separate invite is being sent to Waldo and Quinn’s…”

“Will get lost in the mail?” I asked, hopefully.

“Only for a day or two.” She chuckled at the face I made. “Speaking of invites…”

“I know, I know. I’m having two different sets made. One for our allies, and one for those who will not be allowed to attend.”

“Oh? May I see this one?”

I pulled open a drawer and pulled out the mock-up I had for our enemies.

To Whom It May Concern:

During the month of October, House Enduring will be conducting the wedding ceremony of Baroness Phoenix and her soon-to-be Lord husband Sunny. If you have received this notification, you have not been invited.

If you choose to step foot on Dragon Barony lands during this month, you will be burned alive by Meraxes.

No trial.

No conclave.

Straight to execution.

And if anyone has an issue with that, Baroness Phoenix will take your barony with Fire and Blood.

The Dragon Lords of House Enduring.

Lydia raised an eyebrow at this. “Does Bren know?”

“Not yet. I wanted to wait to see how he was after his trip with you out East.”

Lydia smiled and finally sat across from me. “It went well. Bren found his deity.”

I nearly fell into my chair. “He WHAT?!”

“That was my reaction. You will have to get the full story from Bren, but from what I understand, he can control his powers better without it draining him.”

A deity. An actual deity. What the fresh fuck was going on?

“Nix?”

If Bren’s deity was real, did that mean others were as well? There were so many from the world Meraxes came from.

“Nix?!”

Did this mean they were real, too? Could I communicate with them?

“Nix!”

I jumped at Lydia’s voice, having completely forgotten she was in the room with me. “Sorry, Lydia. My mind went elsewhere.”

“Does it have anything to do with this?” She tapped at the map on my desk.

“Kinda. I wanted to figure out how the portals worked.”

“Portals?”

“Yes, as in plural. The one that brought Bren and me here, the one that brought Meraxes out of my story, the one that brought me Dark Sister, and the one that gave Bren his powers. I’m barely familiar with portal stories, only reading one that was widely published. And while the basics are the same, everything else is wildly different so I’m flying blind in a way.”

“I will be honest, there are times I forget you and Bren weren’t raised here. Especially in the moments I see you as my children.”

I smiled at this. “Funny, considering I’m probably close enough in age to be your sister rather than your daughter. But I still see you as a mom, regardless.”

She laughed. “True, your face does hide at times your age.”

We were quiet for a moment as she looked over my map and all the notes I made. “Do you think you’ll find answers?”

“I think I have been, in a way. Not direct answers, but it’s hard to ignore what I’ve seen.”

“And if you find the portals?”

“I think there’s a better chance of me approving of Quinn for Bren. If these portals are still around, they are what’s feeding mine and Bren’s magic. But there will be no more transporting. Of people, anyway. I’m fully convinced that window has come and gone.”

“Does that make you sad?”

“In a way. There are people I miss. And my dog.”

“You had a dog?”

I smiled and tried not to tear up. “Yeah. A tiny dog that followed me everywhere. I had a small dog because I lived in a small place. If I got a dog again, I would probably aim for something bigger. Something that could chew through certain barons.”

“Isn’t that what Meraxes is for?”

“Yes, but a dog could run through the trees without destroying them.”

Lydia and I both laughed.

“Maybe one day one of the hunting hounds will have puppies.”

“Maybe,” I agreed wistfully. “In the meantime, I have a wedding to plan and portals to figure out.”

“The first one being more pressing since it is July.”

“Mother fucker,” I groaned.

I stayed in that office way longer than I should have, even forgetting it was my night to make dinner. Sarah had made it without complaint, but her face did show concern when she dropped a plate off for me. Sunny had offered to take the Colts out on their first scout and so I hadn’t seen him all day. With Bren locked away to figure out his deity, no one but Lydia was around to remind me to eat.

But even she couldn’t keep my mind on task.

“I hear you’re on a hyperfocus train again.”

I looked up and smiled at the sight of Sunny in the doorway, still dirty and sweaty from his ride. My brain was about to go another direction when my stomach caught my attention.

“Damnit.”

Sunny sighed. “Nixy, you need to remember to eat.”

“Sunny, I’m lucky if I remember I have a body.” I sat back and took the sight of him in. “I see the trip went well.”

“Focus, Nix.”

“I am,” I smirked.

He pointed at my plate and I pouted but grabbed a roll, tearing off a piece. “Killjoy.”

“You need to eat. And by that, I mean food.”

“We’re still making up for lost time.”

He finally smiled. “I know. And we will. Later. But right now, I need you to eat some of your food and then follow me. We came across something on our trip and Lydia demanded you be the one to make the decision on what I should do.”

“Demanded?!” I don’t think Lydia once pulled rank on Sunny, considering he was still technically below her until we married.

He nodded. “Demanded. And not as a Regent, as your mother.”

“The fuck?!” I quickly ripped open the roll and stuffed some of the chicken into it as I stood up. “Lead the way.”

Sunny frowned but obliged when he saw me take a bite. He quickly lead me out of the house and past the gates of the estate, where a few clippers were holding onto ropes. And at the end of the ropes…

“I still can’t believe we brought a wolf home,” gripped one clipper.

“You try arguing with the dragon!” Shouted another.

“Wait,” I placed my hand on Sunny’s arm. “Meraxes was with you?”

“Not the whole time. In fact, we came across her on our patrol. She was curled in a ball and wouldn’t let anyone but me near. That’s where we found the wolf.”

“A monster is what you found!” Came Sebastian’s voice. “No wolf is that big.”

He was right. This ‘wolf’ was twice the size. And when it turned its angry head in my direction, I could instantly see why.

“Direwolf,” I breathed.

“What?” Sunny looked down at me

“That’s a direwolf. What the fuck is it doing here?”

“What’s a direwolf?”

But I didn’t answer as I moved carefully up to the beast, noting its all-black fur and brilliant golden eyes. The moment she laid eyes on me, she immediately sat and I was able to let out a soft breath.

“It’s ok, you’re safe here.” Reaching over carefully, I removed the ropes around her neck.

“Don’t!” Sebastian shouted.

But it was too late and the next thing I knew, she lunged at me.

“Nix!” Sunny ran for me but stopped short at my laughter.

“No! Stop trying to lick my face off!”

The direwolf was doing full-body wiggles as she kept sniffing all over me, her tail wagging happily.

“Glad she’s friendly,” I could hear the panic in Sunny’s voice. “Now, what the fuck is a direwolf?!”

“A symbol of House Stark and very magical. Like, people can put their minds into these creatures and use them as an extension of themselves.” I managed to sit up and began to scratch the wolf’s ears. “But only a select few people. They must have the blood of either the First Men or the Children of the Forest.”

“In other words…”

“The portal brought me another gift.” I let out a shaky breath. “And proof that those gods are listening.”
