Beat Bonetail tonight just before chapter 7, and afterwards I got so excited that I decided to take on Prince Mush!

Surely, I thought, if I could beat the pit in a day, I could beat the champion of the Glitz Pit! Surely!

Question Re: The Pure Hearts and Flipside/Flopside

So I've been trying for a while to create as accurate and comprehensive a timeline of the events of 1500 years before Super Paper Mario as possible, and I've run into a major snag. Was Flipside the site of the Pure Hearts' creation with Flopside made after that once problems arose? Or were the Pure Hearts created first and then Flipside and Flopside were simultaneously created together afterwards? We know those are the only two possible options, because the Pure Hearts are confirmed to have existed by the time Flopside did. Based on all this, it can be definitively said that Flopside was created after the Pure Hearts were. This leaves two possible options.

One: Flipside was created first as a base of operations for the activities of the Sages related to the plan to oppose the Dark Prognosticus, among which was the creation of the Pure Hearts, and at some point the influence from other dimensions proved to make the town unstable, prompting them to create Flopside both to counterbalance that and to make sure only the heroes could reach the Pure Hearts.

Or Two: The Pure Hearts were created first, and Flipside and Flopside were constructed simultaneously afterward in order to ensure it would be stable.

Personally, for a number of reasons, I think the former is more likely, but I'm looking for as much evidence and as high a quality of arguments as I can get for either side of this. My personal argumentation for this is as follows:

. The Sages should only know that constructions in the interdimensional space Flipside resides in would be unstable if they had tried to do so before, and there is no particular hint of a failed experiment before Flipside, making it more likely that it became apparent *after* Flipside came about that instability would occur and that is why Flopside was made.

. Flopside had a specific purpose for its creation related to the ensuring the Pure Hearts and the Heart Pillars would only be reachable by the heroes in addition to its stabilization purpose. The same is not to my knowledge said of Flipside or to the town as a whole, which could imply Flopside was built under different circumstances and for a somewhat different purposes than Flipside, in turn suggesting a different time.

. It is said by the tower enthusiast in Flipside that the Flipside Tower had been there since the town's founding, but that statement is notably absent from his Flopside equivalent.

. The Flipside Pit depicts the Red Pure Heart with a background of Flipside and Flopside, which implies strongly that Flipside had already existed when the Hearts were scattered at the very least, and likely beforehand.

But, I'm open to having my mind changed on this. If there are any bits of evidence and info, questions, interpretations, or arguments people have, I would love to see them.

When I play through Paper Mario TTYD casually, I usually complete the Pit of 100 Trials after I beat the game, and the Remake is no exception! LOL Time to crank up the speed with all my ATK-increasing badges :)

yooooooo to celebrate the upcoming Paper Mario TTYD HD release, my second GF if doing a run where she beats the pit of 100 trials in Chapter 1.

she only has Goombella and Koops, she upgraded Koops once with a shine sprite, now its all down to skill, items, level grinding, and sheer force of will.

I've been grinding. I'm on level 58 now. Amazy Dayzees are giving less and less star points and are becoming less frequent in Twilight Trail. It's actually quicker to go though the pit of 100 trials. I can get through the whole dungeon in an hour and a half. The last ten floors give you more Amazy Dayzees than going back and forth through Twilight trail 10 times does. Not to mention the Pit is fun.

In both versions of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Nintendo Switch version shown in the footage), if Mario reaches the highest possible level (99), he will no longer do a thumbs-up animation at the end of battles, and instead simply tip his cap before the screen fades out.

This takes many hours of grinding, since most battles starting with Level 40 only give 1 Star Point and as such the player would need to win between 5000-6000 battles just to go from Level 40 to Level 99, so this will likely never be seen by the vast majority of players.

It will be impossible to see the thumbs-up animation again on that save file.

Session One; Getting Distracted is Job One!

Okay, so next stop is this floating city named Glitzville. Is it like that final city place in Final Fantasy 7? Wait… this one is rocket powered?!? Dude I need to see that! Goombella pack your books! We’re going to Glitzville!

Um… how do I meet this Don Pianta bloke? I’ve run four circuits around this port and haven’t seen hide nore hair of any Pianta’s besides the guy in front of the casino.

Oh there’s a badge shop? Nifty! And they get more stock as I progress in the game I guess which is also cool. Heck, this mouse girl (which I’ve been informed that they are either called a Nomadimouse or a Lil’ Mouser) with a heart on her tail seems like a nice lady. Maybe I can bring her some fancy cheese from Glitzville. But for now I’m going to get some badges. It’s a Mario game. I can find coins just by squishing the roaches so why would I ne-

(Finds the person who is supposed to tell me how to meet the Don in a back alley)… B-but I burnt all my dosh on badges… I only have two coins left game! Why didn’t anybody tell me?!?

Apparently there’s this place called the ‘pit of 100 trials’ that a kid needs my help to save his father from. Easy peasy. I can take care of that after I get some of my Mysteries cooked by Zess T.

Ooo! I got a Zess T. Tea. And it heals 20 Flower Points! Oh I’m keeping this.

Alright time to save the dad! I’m sure he’ll just be on like floor 8 or something. He is a Toad after all. He can’t have gone that far down.

(Reaches floor 18 and finds the Toad dad and a Pokey) A. How did you get down so far against Dull Bones and Fuzzys? B. What was the plan for when you found a spiked enemy Mac? I’m the guy with the hammer not you. C. You better be worth the Zess T. Tea I spent getting to you…

Yay the kid is reunited with dad and now I can play a new game at the casino. I wonder what else is down here… know what? Speaking of Casino that kid by the Casino said that something scary was down the grate, let’s put a pin on giving the Robbos their dosh for now and see what’s going on.

Ooooo! A dark underbelly of a dank dark town. Groovy! I like this development.

Oh… good… the trampolines developed spikes… glorious.

Oh sweet there’s a fast travel point. I think it lets you travel once you put the star in the door? Maybe? I’ll have to test it when I get that glittery star from that glittery island.

That’s it for this session. Next time I’m going to go give that bloke in charge of the Robbos a piece if my mind and a chu k from my wallet.
