I think there's something that needs to be said about encouraging readers to leave feedback.
For me it's not about "tell me my writing is amazing and stroke my ego"
It's more about "please engage with me so that I can experience your joy secondhand and foster a connection with you"
I understand that not everyone wants this in their reading experience, some people are shy and a million other reasons why maybe someone wouldn't want to engage and that's perfectly fine!
But what I'm trying to steer away from is being a passive content creator with passive consumers. What I want to steer toward is fostering a community that is essential to fandom. I want to see your reactions because it makes me feel like I'm a part of something.
On encouraging reblogs —
I understand that not everyone is comfortable reblogging, especially explicit content. This is ok!
But just consider that the only reason you were able to enjoy a fic or fanart is because someone else shared it, and by not sharing it yourself you are potentially robbing someone else of the opportunity to enjoy it as much as you did.
As OPs our reach only goes so far and this website relies on reblogs in order for anything to truly get seen by a wider audience.
So that's really it! That's why I encourage these two things at the end of every story I post. Not because I'm trying to be demanding and "make people feel bad" if they don't do it.
I know most other social media sites encourage mindless content consumption and that's just the way of the world nowadays, but I am from a time when community was at the heart of fandom and I just don't want to lose that.

(ID in alt)
Hello Tumblr! I am posting this on behalf of the Queer Liberation Library, who don't yet have a Tumblr, but have promised me they're working on it. Some of you may remember them from the Twitter Poll I was involved in a few months ago where Hunger Pangs: True Love Bites beat multiple award-winning, trad-pub queer authors with a hefty 69% (nice).
For those of you unaware, the Queer Liberation Library, or QLL, is an organization fighting to build a vibrant, flourishing queer future by connecting LGBTQ+ people with literature, information, and resources that celebrate the unique and empowering diversity of our community.
And today, June 12th, 2023, they launched their fundraiser to try and reach 15k so that they can start purchasing digital licensing for queer media and hopefully open their digital doors to library patrons across the US in 2023 with as many queer and trans books as possible.
You can check out their newly redesigned website here:
(If you are in an unsafe space and need to exit the webpage quickly, there is a quick exit bar at the top that redirects to a weather page. When I spoke to them about their web design they were also open to accessibility suggestions and are potentially working on a dark mode for those of us who need it.)
If you know me, you know I am unequivocally pro-library, both as a reader and a queer writer. But with the current rise of homophobia, transphobia, and the proposed ban on books taking hold in certain States, the importance of having protected access queer books cannot be over-emphasized enough.
The QLL aims to protect that access, aiming to provide FREE access to queer and trans media (ebook and audio) to patrons regardless of location within the United States.
They are funded entirely through regular donations from their supporters and their now annual Pride fundraiser, where they hope to afford the cost of not just library books but also maintaining their web presence and staff.
I cannot emphasize enough how much this project is a labor of love for everyone involved and its importance.
And just to clarify, I am not involved in any way beyond raising awareness. When QLL reached out and asked me to retweet their fundraiser tweets, I readily agreed and offered to post about it on Tumblr because I believe in their mission and the world they are trying to build.
One where queer and trans books can't be banned or taken off of shelves because of bigotry and hatred.
If you would like to donate to the cause, you can do so here:
They've already surpassed their first 2k, and it'd be absolutely wonderful if we could help them reach their next milestone. And if you can't give, please consider signal boosting this post.

Adult Swim Games titles to be delisted by May
Note, dated May 9th: Duck Game and Small Radios seem to be having their original store pages transferred to the studios/devs! This likely means that the affected and potentially affected games will be safe. I'm not going to update this post anymore, lest it grow too long or too complicated to follow along with. I'm going to turn off reblogs so that previous, unupdated versions of this post do not circulate.
Tumblr media
As the week has gone on we’ve seen even more developers come out and confirm that they too were contacted by Warner Bros. Discovery — the parent company behind Adult Swim Games — and informed that their titles would be delisted “within 60 days”. The latest developer to break the news is Team2Bit, makers of Fist Puncher which has been on Steam since 2013.
Tumblr media
I encourage you to read the full post by dev Matt Kain, but these excerpts from the post that breaks the news says a lot by themselves:
We've asked that Warner Bros. simply transfer the game to our Steam publisher account so that it can stay active, but so far they have said no with the reason being that they made the universal decision not to transfer the games back to the original studios and do not have the resources to do so. No, the transfer process is not complicated. It likely takes about 2 minutes on their end: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/gettingstarted/managing_apps/transfer
And, I feel this needs to be said somewhere… but… Videogames are art. Videogames connect us. Videogames are important. Videogames are part of our cultural heritage and should be preserved.
Kain says the team will keep on pressing Warner Brothers for the game to be transferred to them.
The initial news of game retirement was broken by the developer for puzzle game Small Radios Big Televisions, Owen Deery. Deery has made the game available to download for free from the Fire Face website (his solodev company).
Tumblr media
Games confirmed to be retiring:
Fist Puncher (Confirmed - available on Steam)
Small Radios Big Televisions (Confirmed - available on Steam / PS4 / Fire Face website for free)
Soundodger+ (Confirmed - available on Steam / the itch.io release is unaffected)
Other games not yet confirmed and the platforms they are available on are listed here and here, and screenshots of the list can be found under the readmore.)
You can see all games published by Adult Swim Games on Steam listed here.
This post is actively being updated, please be patient.

I hope people in the OSC (and other fandoms in general) who are ok with or neutral about Kosa realize that not only will we lose a bunch of platforms that allow us to interact with each other (Tumblr, discord, Ao3, Wattpad, Twitter, YouTube, etc) but will also get rid of at least 80-95% of our fandom.
The OSC consists mostly of people between 13-17 who (if Kosa goes through the Senate and Houses of Representatives and gets passed as a law) will most likely no longer have access to YouTube and other social platforms which actively kills almost all the people who read and watch Object Shows!
By visiting and sharing animated shows like II or BFDI those creators make money which gives them the means to keep making their shows and paying their animators, voice actors, writers and so much more. This bill will actively get rid of most of the people who watch these shows which will cause a large loss in support and revenue for these creators and will most likely mean the end for any smaller object show.
Object show comics rely on people sharing them around in fandom spaces since they’re not animated and put on YouTube like animated object shows are. By losing these spaces and the people who support their content these creators will no longer be able to reach a large audience and get the support they need to continue their comics. This means that we will lose a lot of the comics that the OSC has!
Most of the content you see in the OSC is made by minors, which this bill will actively destroy and thus kill this fandom and many others!
So I am begging of you OSC and other communities, Please please please sign petitions, tell your senators and representatives that you don’t want this bill to pass, and tell anyone that you can reach about how this Bill is a violation of privacy and minors' rights! Re-blog anything you see with helpful information about what Kosa is and keep talking about it! We need to tell people about it so that this doesn’t go through the Senate. Remember, the final day is February 26, we don’t have that long!!!
Here’s some helpful resources:

update on situation
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Hi all, We've been made aware today of really troubling messages sent by Ludeo on social media, which understandably have caused a lot of upset and concern among community members, and our moderation team.
Staff are really concerned about Ludeo being linked to Rain World and promoted to players. We feel we have a responsibility to make players aware of this, discourage account-linking, and also to talk with the publisher and advocate that this deal doesn't go ahead.
We also understand that members are upset and want to raise awareness about the situation, and how important it is to speak out against companies like Ludeo.
We are also obliged to keep the server free from sensitive or distressing topics, specifically because it often leads to arguments, causes a lot of stress for users to witness & staff to handle, and becomes a breeding ground for a lot of misinformation. There are plenty of spaces online to discuss sensitive topics and as a video game server we're just not equipped to handle them.
As a result, and due to staff and helpers overworked from trying to moderate this, we've made the decision to lock the server for the next 48 hours at minimum. The hope is that the publishers will have made an announcement or decision by then and we'll have a lot more clarity on what's happening next. This server is moderated by volunteers who are independent from game publishers and all associated legal connections. Please do not DM Server Staff during this time as we're all either extremely busy or taking a break. Your best way to contact the publishers are the links provided below:
Twitter: https://twitter.com/akuparagames
Website: https://www.akuparagames.com/contact-us/
Server Staff do not support Ludeo. We're extremely distressed by the recently emerged posts and would sever all connections the company has with Rain World's publishers in a heartbeat if we could. Developer post: https://twitter.com/VideocultMedia/status/1764695214088765644
(@,Courier is also closed and will not accept messages during this period.)"
---
By [AG: Buddy]:
"Hey, folks. I've been keeping up with Ludeo stuff all morning and taking the time to talk to a ton of different people about it. I've been talking with James, I just got out of a call with server staff, and I've spent some time with my team at Akupara talking through everything we've seen about Ludeo. I'm not in a position to announce what we're doing yet but I do wanna just quickly say to all of you: If it matters to you, it matters to me. It'll probably be a day or two before I can sit down with James and write the Ludeo Announcement™ but once I make sure everything lines up, I'll post to make sure you guys know where we're at. Until then, -Buddy"

Something a little unusual happened at work today, and I thought I might turn it into a bit of a Tumblr psa, if you will indulge me.
A young woman rang our doorbell and asked if she could come in and have a look around. She was not a member, nor did she have any connection to one. She may or may not have been Jewish, but I'm going to guess not, seeing as, well, most people aren't.
The reason she came by, in her words, was that she wanted to look around and "heard we were special," whatever she meant by that. She had also looked on our website before, so if she just wanted information, she could have called. Our phone number is plainly on the bottom of every page. It is very likely that she was genuinely just curious, and maybe she was interested in learning more about the temple or Judaism in general. Whatever her reasoning, we had to send her away.
I feel like that may seem harsh, but unfortunately, we cannot be as open to everyone as we want. It makes us appear standoffish at best, but safety is very important, especially with the state of antisemitism in this country and the fact that we have small children here every single day. Safety is our biggest priority. Ask any Jewish person who goes to services even every once in a blue moon, and they will tell you why.
I don't want to turn people away at the door. I want to be welcoming and show curious people the way we do things, but that isn't safe in our world.
If you are interested in Judaism, there are resources online. If you want to see a synagogue, you can contact one in your area and set up a time to come by, though please note that not everywhere allows that, and people are especially busy this time of year in the lead-up to the High Holidays.
Please do not just show up randomly for a look around. We can't differentiate the malicious from the genuinely curious by sight alone.

My access to AO3 at home was recently blocked by the website filtering program my husband maintains. Aghast at the atrocity, I was compelled to tell him of my outrage in prose.
Tumblr media
Dear Internet Overlord (husband),
I pen this missive with an air of utmost dismay and disbelief, for it has come to my attention that your internet system is exhibiting a most egregious behavior—the blockage of access to the AO3 website.
The sheer audacity of this act is an outrage of the highest magnitude, and I find myself compelled to express my profound displeasure in the most vehement terms. To compound the injury with an insult, the site category has been labeled as "tasteless."
Tasteless, I say! I implore you to reconsider such a gross mischaracterization, for the AO3 realm is a sanctuary of literary and artistic brilliance. It is a place where words dance upon the page like nimble ballerinas, and where the brushstrokes of creativity paint a canvas of unparalleled beauty. (Admittedly, there may be a smattering of less refined content, but let us not dwell on such trivialities.)
Picture, if you will, an artist of words, now shackled and denied the opportunity to share their craft with a community that thrives on supporting and nurturing such artistry. My very soul, once vibrant and full of creative vigor, is in danger of withering into the desolate existence of a literary crone—miserable and deprived of the camaraderie that AO3 provides.
I beseech you, noble custodian of the virtual realm, to rectify this atrocity with the urgency it deserves. Failure to do so may force me to embark on a quest into the perilous wilderness (or the nearest Starbucks, whichever proves more accessible) in search of alternative sources of the exalted webpage that is AO3.
Alternatively, I may succumb to the depths of madness, rendering me unfit to share in the responsibilities of co-parenting. In such a lamentable event, I would, of course, be compelled to bequeath unto you the solemn duty of tending to our progeny for all eternity. The choice, dear sir, rests in your capable hands.
Yours incredulously, AJ Constantine
His response:
Dear AJ Constantine, I hope this message finds you amidst some peace, despite the trying circumstances you've encountered in attempting to access Archiveofourown.org.
First and foremost, please accept my deepest and most sincere apologies for any frustration, inconvenience, or distress these technical difficulties may have caused you. I understand that Archiveofourown.org holds a special place for individuals such as yourself seeking solace, inspiration, and community, and I deeply regret any disruption to the refuge it provides. I recognize that your connection to the content on Archiveofourown.org goes beyond a mere online presence—it's a source of joy, escape, and connection. The pain and suffering you may have endured due to your inability to access the platform is not lost on me, and I genuinely empathize with the impact it may have had on your life. I have identified and resolved the issues and reinstated seamless access to the website, and I hope that this will alleviate the distress you may be feeling. (Please don’t leave me over this. Think of the children.) Your husband
(I decided not to leave him over it, but it was a close call. 😁)

BAN KOSA !!!
I wanted to bring peoples attention to this since NO ONE has been talking about it.
In just 4 days, Congress will vote on a crucial bill known as KOSA, which poses a serious threat to the anime and manga community in the United States. Alongside the EARN IT act, this legislation has the potential to result in a complete ban on anime, manga, fanfics, and any mature content due to the vague classification of "gore and violence."
While the bill is being presented as a measure to protect minors, it is essential to understand that its implications go far beyond that. In reality, KOSA could lead to a blanket ban for all individuals, regardless of age. The bill claims to offer a way for adults to access content by confirming their age, but upon closer examination, it becomes evident that adult viewers will be at risk of having the content flagged and taken down.
This is an alarming development that requires immediate attention and action from the anime community. We cannot allow this bill to pass unnoticed, as it will undoubtedly have severe consequences for the freedom of expression and creativity within our community.
To make a difference, we urge you to take action and voice your opposition to KOSA. You can start by visiting the link provided: https://www.badinternetbills.com/. This website allows you to email your state representatives directly. Moreover, if you provide your phone number, you will receive a call that will conveniently connect you to all your representatives' offices. They will provide you with a script to read from, making it easy for you to express your concerns effectively.
It is crucial that we all unite and stand up against this threat. Last year, we narrowly escaped the passage of this bill, but it seems that Congress is making another attempt this year. By speaking up and making our voices heard, we can ensure that our rights to enjoy anime, manga, and creative works are protected.
PLEASE VOTE ON IT, it will take two seconds and it'll help. Thank you ya'll <3
If you can't vote, likes, reblogs, shares, ALL ARE APPRECIATED

How to watch OFMD on iPlayer from outside the UK
Hey crew, the second season of OFMD is finally making it to the UK!
You can watch live on Monday, 5th February at 10pm GMT (5pm ET) or stream it at some later point.
👉 We want great numbers! 👈
So please consider tuning in even if you're outside the UK (it's free). Here's how:
1. Get a VPN.
I use CyberGhost, but there are a number of other VPN services that work. NordVPN and ExpressVPN are recommended here and they have free trial periods.
2. Connect to a VPN server in the UK.
Many VPNs have servers that are optimized for streaming from particular sources. Use one of those these.
3. Go to the BBC website and set up a free account.
You'll need to give them some info like an email-address, birthdate and a postal code (they won't check if it's accurate). When they ask for "Country", select "United Kingdom". If they ask whether you have paid your TV licence fee, say yes (they don't check that either).
4. Access the iPlayer via an App or your browser.
Our Flag Means Death airs on BBC 2, so if you want to watch live, that's your channel. You can also just type the title into the search bar.
Season 1 is already available on the BBC, so feel free to give it a test run.
---
Feel free to add comments / info or ask if anything is unclear 😊💜

Would anybody be interested in an Anti-Zionist Torah study group, set up through Patreon?
We’d read Torah portion every week and discuss it together through an anti-Zionist, leftist lense to keep our connection to Hashem strong through our radical journey towards liberation. This would be open for all; Jews and Jews in the process of returning home (you’re always one of us!) who need that guidance.
- It’d be fully flexible, so you can join at any time you’d like.
- Contribution to conversation isn’t necessary! If you just want to read along and read discussion then that’s up to you, but any discussion is important and welcome!
- Our weekly portion would mostly likely follow Torah parasha (this weeks is Beshalach), unless there’s astronger preference for just starting from the beginning (Genesis)!
- There’d be an option to donate/subscribe through Patreon, which all donations will be donated to a Palestinian organisation of our choice, every month! Evidence of such will always be posted. We think that’s a fun way to raise money for important causes!
We hope to have our website running soon, and access to the Patreon would be available there! We’ll also utilise it as a platform to post our newsletter!
Let us know what you think and hit us with any ideas! If you’d prefer to have anonymous input, please preface your message in our ask box with [STUDY] so we can see it! We get a lot of asks!
