What's the ideal length of a fanfic chapter?

I am at least a few weeks out from finishing my fic, but I'm just thinking ahead to how I want to put it up

It's a 5+1 fic, so has automatically got 6 chapters. (Julian is stuck for six consecutive days in a timeloop.) Originally, I was just going to post 1 chapter every week as I edited it, but while Chapter 1 is a friendly 3,500 words, Chapters 2 and 3 are both just over the 10,000 word mark, and I'm only halfway through Chapter 4 but it's shaping up to be at least 15,000, somehow!

So my options are:

The Original Plan

I aim to publish one 10k+ word chapter each week.

Pros: It's as intended, each "day" of the story happens in full, within its own chapter. Good if you like long updates?

Cons: Since I don't *actually* know how long editing will take, I might not be able to keep to a weekly schedule and timings may vary. Pretty lengthy chapters.

Plan 2:

I cut each of the original chapters in half for publishing, and either:

2a - I aim to publish two 5k+ word chapters each week.

Pros: It's still mostly as intended, each "day" gets published in full, just in two parts. Shorter chapters

Cons: Timings may vary again, since it's a lot to edit in a week. The story is split up slightly arbitrarily.

2b - I publish one 5k+ word chapter each week (cutting the original chapters in half)

Pros: I should be able to stick to the weekly schedule for sure. Shorter chapters

Cons: Each "day" of the story is cut in half, probably at a somewhat arbitrary point. 1/2 of Chapter 4 is still going to be 7-9k in length 😅

Plan 3

I publish one or two 3-6k word chapters each week. I'd think of the story as one long tale rather than as The Six Days and split up the current chapters into smaller ones at places I feel are suitable.

Pros: Shorter, more even, chapters. Better pacing Being able to stick to a weekly schedule (and possibly an extra chapter every so often)

Cons: Completely abandoning the 5+1 structure Story won't be told as intended

Anyway I got a request for a bottom Messmer fic and y’all my requests aren’t even open atm I don’t even know if I do a decent job with Messmer. I am very tempted to repurpose one of my favorite MK fics as a bottom Messmer fic, are we interested in seeing Messmer being a messy demanding bottom? I know the request I got was for a subby bottom but I don’t know that I have it in me lately to write an entirely new fic. The Wegovy has been making me feel just awful as of late and if the fucker didn’t work so well I would stop it all together but I’ve only lost about half the weight I’ve wanted to so I need to try and stick things out longer. My point is I just haven’t had any energy, motivation or ideas lately but modifying an existing fic is something I can definitely do, so how we feeling?

I don’t know if any of my Elden Ring followers are also Mortal Kombat fans so there’s maybe a small possibility you’ve already read the fic? I don’t think there’s any overlap though so it’d be new to y’all. Of course I will adjust things to keep it Messmer compliant and struggle through the Old English the best I can “verily tarnish, plow mine arse,” LOL

Nothing much is going on with me, nothing exciting in my dating life or pitiable parade of medical maladies today so yeah I’ll update y’all on liver stuff in a week or two.

Summer has me really bored and im considering starting and/or re-watching a show. Im stupidly indecisive so

Ok guys so I'm totally stuck on deciding who to pull for and I need peer pressure to get me to decide lol

Context:

I've been playing hsr for a few months now and have a number of main dps characters (Blade, Imbibitor Lunae, Acheron, Dr. Ratio, and Himeko) but I don't have a ton of good sustainers (I really only have Lynx, Natasha, and Baliu so no good shielder). I kinda need a sustainer like Aventurine to have a more comfortable gaming experience, HOWEVER, Boothill is very sexy and cool and I'm totally here for his silly design. So far it seems like Boothill will be another dps character which I don't need very much but I don't have any great physical characters. I have a lot of imaginary characters (including two dps characters) but I don't have good sustainers. I like both of them a lot and despite being incredibly fond of Boothill, Aventurine is a favorite too.

I'm also really into the end game content and combat if that makes a difference lol. However, my favorites usually take a bias and I will pull for a character just bc I like them even if they won't be the most useful in the meta side of the game.

I really doubt this will help at all but I'm a devout Kaveh main in Genshin if that gives y'all a feel for the characters I like lol.

Who should I pull for? I'm guaranteed to win my 50/50 and have some pulls saved (not enough to guarantee a 5 star but quite a few).
