Bloodline ability: Flying Dutchman

Gamigins can create spectres, ranging from abstract balls of light to more humanoid ones. These spectres can possess and manipulate objects much like a poltergeist. At close-mid range, Gamigins have full control over the actions of the spectres, but at longer ranges the spectres can only follow very simple commands, given to them beforehand. Also, spectres cannot alter the physical properties of an object in any way; they can merely move it. They can however activate any intended functions of a tool.

Backstory:

The Gamigin family isn't a particularly prestigious or high class family, but they have built up a decent level of respect within their small corner of the world. The Gamigins live by one of the most brutal and dangerous seas in the demon realm, one too vast to be crossed by flying. They essentially function as guardians, helping ships navigate dangerous sea routes, rescuing drowning demons and manning the local lighthouse. It's quite a tough job, even for an aquatic demon, but the Gamigins take it with a quiet but resolute diligence that those around them have come to acknowledge.

Bio:

Pretty much as said above. Davy spent his days on the high seas, fighting the elements and guiding ships through storms, slowly but surely building up a decent reputation within the circle of Lady Levy. At some point she invited him to become a teacher at her school; after all with his experience, he'd be able to provide the students with a lot of real-life survival knowledge.

Unfortunately for him, Gamigin REALLY didn't fit in at Levialon. His rough-around-the-edges personality and messy approach to life didn't exactly align with Levialon's focus on good manners and discipline, and the other teachers weren't exactly enthused with him. At some point he decided to move away, and transferred to Babyls. It's not 100% clear whether he moved because he was transferred or transferred because he moved.

Gamigin is the senior's Practicals teacher. Since he spends most of his time in the senior's buildings, he is not very well known to the younger classes.

Personality:

Gamigin is a pretty quiet person who tends to keep to himself. Not necessarily out of shyness, more because he's vaguely out of it. To others he comes off kind of messy and disorganised, wandering away wherever the wind takes him and coming back whenever he pleases, usually mysteriously damp and smelling of seawater. However he is by no means incompetent. An incredibly practical, no frills person, Davy doesn't waste time on anything but the most important, integral survival skills and drills them in like a drill sergeant.

Simply put: Davy only expends his time and energy when it's something vitally important. However when that important moment comes, he is always the first to act. He's a quietly observant person, who pays a surprising amount of attention to others even if he doesn't show it.

Davy cares about other people, but doesn't necessarily know how to socialise. After all he spent years in the middle of nowhere, where the only interaction he had with others was making sure they didn't die. It matters to him that people have the ability to protect themselves in any situation, but he can't help but see others as living in a fundamentally different world from him. Two ships passing in the night, if you will. He doesn't really expect anyone to stick around long term, so he doesn't really put that much effort into forming a strong emotional attachment with them. He doesn't feel positively or negatively about this, it's just kind of a neutral fact of life. In practice though, that means he has no particular social skills and doesn't really put effort into learning any. He's kind of awkward.

Trivia:

•While he's away teaching, the sea/lighthouse isn't unmanned, don't worry- the rest of his family are still around and they're doing fine without him. In addition, the amount of ships navigating the area, and periods of bad weather are pretty seasonal, so there are definitely plenty of peaceful months in the year. Davy does still take time off to pitch in during the busiest seasons.

•Davy's room is on the bottom floor of the teacher's dorms because he sleeps in a giant water tank.

•Has a LOT of scars all over his body. He does deal with chronic pain from old injuries.

• Younger students are scared of him but the senior students tend to see him as kind of a pathetic mop. The kind of teacher who's pretty chill about being the butt of the joke.

Likes:

• Water. Babyls is inland and therefore has much less access to bodies of water, so he will embrace every single opportunity to be in water. Has gotten in trouble with Dali about running up the dorm's water bill before.

i think my favorite character I’ve written into my Courts is Rime, a cat that died and came back, and later would joke that they just couldn’t bear to leave their life partner, Opal

truthfully they DID die, of sickness, a mixture of starvation and dehydration, sickness sapping away any strength to eat or drink, making it impossible to keep anything down. He died, for a full night he was dead, and the next morning was awake again

There’s no nine lives system in my Courts, Leaders dont get any extra lives, if they die, they’re dead. And the funny thing is, Rime is part of a cult that worships death and its cycle in life. Cats are ceremoniously eaten by their group-mates, with both consent from the deceased and their closest family member. If their family member refuses, the cat is buried instead.

My favorite thing is detailing the changes that happened to Rime after coming back.

Rime basically dies and comes back very, very different. Personality wise, they’re the same. But he doesn’t have a scent anymore, no eyeshine, he rarely has to eat or drink water. A workaround, and a fav design note to him, is that Opal, his life partner, helps the insecurity of not having a scent(or at least, only having a faint scent of death) by tying a mixture of heather and lavender into his fur.

More context: Opal and Rime have been life partners for longer than they’ve been in the cult together. They met while young, and the bond between them was solidified when Opal picked a fight with a cat way bigger than both of them. Rime immediately threw himself in between them, and defended her. They got two scars on the bridge of their nose, between their eyes, for the trouble, and both of them ended up hightailing it out of there to avoid getting hurt more.

The relationship between them is currently the only one in my Courts - it's completely platonic, they’re dedicated life partners, call each other mates occasionally, and while Opal is pregnant, her kits aren’t Rime’s and Rime’s intention is only to help her raise the kits and act as an uncle rather than a parent. They’re both dedicated to each other and closely bonded. Opal and Rime’s designs are some of my favorites, alongside Puffin and Finch, two others in the cult, though Finch was born into it and Puffin was adopted as a kit.

SO. I'll be covering the bill with a more powerful reader and sub bill because your works have changed my brain chemistry, masochist bill because I'M GOING INSANE AN I NEED TO BE SEDATED, and bill with a reader that likes to tease him (with a more powerful reader version and a just a human version) because I need to study his reactions to teasing like I'm Stanford studying like... Science + math = triangles or something.

So I actually made an entire oc for this literally as soon as I finished reading the og post, which I will refrain on ranting abt, but the idea of a reader that's more powerful than bill is fascinating to me.

Because like, he's bill so he's obviously gonna try to get under your skin, but imagine a reader that sees his attempts to annoy them and just... Like laughs? A reader that finds his attempts almost endearing? Reverting whatever bill did back to before with just a snap and maybe a passing comment about his mischief.

It would drive him mad I think, he'd be rlly annoyed and pissy about it.

Or alternatively, a reader that does get angry when he tries to annoy them, (a loud and aggressive angry or a quiet festering angry both yielding different reactions from bill) and Bill takes it as motivation to keep annoying you (and it's definitely only because he thinks it's funny and totally definitely no other reason).

Thinking about the way that bill literally talks about going out of his way to inflict pain onto the bodies he "possesses" (? Idk if that's the word I should use) made me think. Like too much thinking too many thoughts, to the point that I at multiple points almost wrote a small drabble in my notes app about it. (I would've if I could think of any words to write down when I need them 😭)

But like he's definitely some kind masochist right?

I can't think of any scenarios for human reader he made a deal with and bill for this category but imagine with me pls, a HUMAN reader, that he made a deal with (is actively trying to manipulate), causing him PAIN somehow (directly or indirectly), and he... DOSENT MIND? because 1. He's gonna have a mental breakdown because of it probably, and 2. He dosent JUST not mind. It's like EXCITING but not normal exciting.

So basically he'd be freaking out.

And with a reader that's more powerful than him? I think it'd be clear as day. Going hand in hand with the angry reader that's more powerful than him thing above, he would absolutely get off on annoying them until they snap at him (specifically the snap at him part). And when reader notices, they're obviously gonna make fun of him because hes being pathetic lol.

I think I have run out of masochist bill words now so onto the next topic.

Exorcist gang! (I'm so sorry it took forever to get to your ask. I kind of dropped the au for a long time and just now got the motivation to pick it up again.)

Right on the money! I just narrowed it down to three because I can't do anymore(lazy ahh). But they can't actually drive motorcycles because none of them have a drivers license so they just try to seem badass by saying they are a biker gang. All christian but they have no idea how it works and do things looked down upon by the christian community. Left Victoria. Middle Stephanie. Right Kamaria. Kamaria got a tattoo of the upside down cross to seem cool but she knows it's St. Peter's cross so it's kind of a double meaning for her. I also gave Kamaria three toned lips because I jst found out that exists and I had to include that in some character. Atleast one.

Maybe one day I'll draw them as angels just to do it.

Are there still feelings? Kind of, they just aren't over eachother yet. Right now tho they are mainly enemies. Valerie(Vaggie) is kind of like Blitzø(relationships wise), but less of an asshole. It was mostly her fault they broke up though. She was uninterested and embarrassed by Kamaria almost all the time so ofc Kamaria doesn't stand for shit and ended it before it got worse. Valerie is like that with Charlie in some ways, but of course that's for growth purposes.

Oh also Valerie dated Lute too before she dated Kamaria so it's just this entire problem within the group bro.. Like, Lute is not over Valerie and not in a "I am in love with u still." Way, but in a "I hate the way you walk, the way you talk, I hate the way dress-" ahh way(and in an i am still in luv wit u way but shh). Lute has no idea why Valerie broke up wit her ass and takes it out on Kamaria. Kama takes no shit and bounced out that place quickly. Good for her ig. Just a few months later, Sakunosuke Oda was killed, Dazai left, and Chuuya hit the ground. Hard.

“I get it now. Why you had to leave, I mean.”  There must’ve been something in Chuuya’s tone, because suddenly it’s like Dazai sees him in a completely different light. His expression is far, far more open than Chuuya is used to, though still barely a movement for the average person. He can see Dazai’s mind racing, calculating possibilities and outcomes and just once, Chuuya wishes he would simply stop and feel.  Eventually, Dazai says slowly, carefully, “I… honestly didn’t think you would care.”

edit: i realized this said plot arc and astrid's character arc doesn't rlly count but for plot arc: hiccup & snotlout's arc of learning to respect each other more in riders/defenders of berk. basically the screaming death arc!!

astrid's in the first movie... it's near perfect and her role in the story is so vital bc her mind being changed makes stoick's mind being changed so much more believable. astrid's arc is such an interesting throughline to see the movie through. astrid being the most viking like of the teens and taking everything so seriously only to decide to give hiccup a chance (yes she was hanging off a tree rlly high off the ground and then only apologized bc toothless was whipping her around as payback for her attitude lol) but once toothless calms down that's when astrid rlly sits back and gives toothless & hiccup a chance & you just. see her relaxed for the first time in the movie and smiling so wide and it's SOOOOOOO. i love her so much.

for reading, i haven't done a lot & i am kinda particular abt what i read (i heed tags & stuff seriously!! they're there for a reason!!) but!! from recent memory & my bookmarks

promises, promises is by @artinandwritin and it's abt her httyd ocs and @beebooca's oc set post the hidden world (except the dragons are still there!!) and it's such a fun exploration of the effect things can have on oc characters based on what happens to the canon characters they're connected to!! it's very good (and i am honored to have helped beta read :'))

translations by @bignostalgias is a hijack fic where jack frost ends up on berk after following silver dream sand (and ends up becoming "alive" again) and there's the whole thing where he's confused abt how berk exists and seems to be behind modern day and dragons exist. everything is so thought out and carefully put together and i just can not wait for more!!
