A Prissy Girl’s Guide to Fall

back by popular demand, i’m here with another prissy girl guide! this post is a bit late for the fall but it’ll allow you to finish the season off in a pretty fashion, and transition to the winter smoothly. i’ll be discussing the look i’ve been adorned in as of late and my fav products i’ll be using for the spirit of fall! 💓

what’s the look this fall?

the look this season is “divalicious barbie.” voluminous hair, tapered square nails and fur details + neutral color palettes. add in a few pops of pink and some sparkly detailz and you got my look this fall. “sexy chic.” i’ve been really leaning into the vibe of a runway supermodel diva emulsion. as you may have seen, my birthday outfit drew from many inspirations, focally the early nineties alaia runway shows. just immense glamour, class and girliness with a healthy dose of sexy.

first and foremost…

the weather is turning so a lot of us are catching colds. take care of your health and rest. protect your immune system and dress according to weather. i almost always get sick around late september/early october and its because of the dip my immune system takes due to the change in climate.

preparation

some of you are in school like me. one of the reasons the fall is my fav season is because it’s time to get back to the basics. you should be developing new study routines around this time or perfecting the ones you have already

When he saw his name written on his shirt, he thought that was a truly incredible idea and would definitely make one with his name on it for him to wear too.

"You're so cute, I swear." Kaku would speak shyly with a smile before pulling you into a kiss.

Ran is clearly the type of guy who likes to show off whenever he can, seeing you wearing a shirt with his name on it would make him feel very special and even though he doesn't show much excitement, Ran loves any show of affection and love from you.

He would definitely show up wearing a t-shirt with his name on it, making sure you took several photos together wearing similar clothes.

"We're an envious couple, don't you think?" Ran would say giving you a hug, he would spend the whole day being silly for his honor.

𝐑𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐮 𝐇𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐢

Rindou usually pretends that he doesn't love a clichéd type of romanticism, but deep down he loves receiving demonstrations of love from him, making him always think you're the cutest person he could have ever met.

It took him a while to notice his name printed on your shirt, however, as soon as he laid eyes on you, he smiled and hugged you with a slightly shy expression.

"For me? I loved it." Rindou would say with an awkward laugh, also appearing the next day with a t-shirt with his name engraved on it.

He's a sweetheart, Sanzu loves receiving shows of affection, any kind of affection, Haru considers all the things you do to please him special.

"You're wearing a t-shirt with my name on it? That was really cute, y/n." He would say shyly and a little embarrassed, despite that, Haruchiyo would love to see you wearing that t-shirt and would definitely buy one with your name on it for him too, even if he just wore it away from other people's eyes because he was a bit reserved, Sanzu I would love to match his shirt with yours.

As much as it may not seem like it, Kokonoi loves romanticism and clichés, so small displays of affection make him feel like the most loved guy in the world.

As soon as he saw your name printed on your t-shirt, he would smile and let out a brief laugh, hugging you right after.

"I don't think a t-shirt would be enough for me, how about I give you a necklace with my name studded with diamonds?" He would say, buying the jewelry right away just to see you flaunt it a little, Kokonoi wouldn't waste any time and also make one with his name on it to honor you.

Inui has a certain difficulty in showing feelings, despite this, he always loves absolutely everything you do with the aim of making him happy in some way.

The idea would come from him, but he certainly wouldn't think that you would accept the proposal, however, as soon as he saw you wearing the shirt a few days later, Inui was genuinely happy.

"I also need one with your name on it, let's use it together." Seishu would speak with a smile on his face, he loves displays of affection and maximum cliché romanticism, for that reason, he never bothered to match his clothes with his.

Wakasa is the type of guy who is extremely difficult to please, despite trying to remain tough, his heart melts for you, so he ends up secretly loving all your romantic acts.

"Cringe" Wakasa would say as soon as he saw you with a t-shirt with his name on it, despite that, he would just be trying to annoy you a little since he simply loved the idea.

The same day he saw you wearing the t-shirt, Wakasa would buy one with your name on it, however, he would definitely not wear it in public just because he had a tough pose to maintain, even so, he would show it to you as soon as the clothes reached his hands.

I've teased you with it before, but now we need a full writeup. Justice League Antarctica?

If I was a man prone to drinking I want you all to imagine this is the moment where I am approached, grizzled and sitting at a bar. Upon hearing those words in that order I neck my shot and sincerely consider throwing myself through the plate glass window.

And yet I do not drink and live FAR too high up for that, so here we go.

The "JLAnt" as they are semi affectionately known can be traced back to one Paul Booker, enemy to the Green Lantern under the name Major Disaster due to his ability to cause natural disasters and accidents of probability at will. On his then most recent escape from prison he heard the news announcing the foundation of the then untested Justice League International. Assembling a group of C List or below supervillains including:

Big Sir: AKA David Ratchet, not so much a supervillain but a man of low mental faculties due to an engorged brain gland leaving him easily manipulated but superhumanly strong

Clock King: AKA William Tockman, a normal human whose obsession with time and time pieces resulted in a large array of clock themed gadgetry

Cluemaster: AKA Arthur Brown, sort of a Temu version of the Riddler, a failed game show host trying to make himself feared as the second best user of his own gimmick

Mighty Bruce: An unknown small time criminal who had befriended Booker and seemed to only be there for moral support.

and Multi-Man: AKA Duncan Pramble, an archeological assistant exposed to an unknown chemical compound allowing him to revive with a new set of superpowers every time he medically dies.

Forming themselves under the well worn "Injustice League" name the groups clashed in the aftermath of the Dominator invasion and the Injustice League was pretty sharply put down, causing the members to scatter for a few months. It wasn't until they all happened to be at an unemployment office in New York City that Booker tried to restart the idea with the theft of a valuable diamond. With a truly ghastly accident of fate the villains arrived at the same moment another group of thieves were attempting to make off with the gem. Battling the other group over rights to the treasure the Injustice League triumphed just as the police and media arrived in response to the museum's silent alarm. Because none of the villains were very well known or seriously feared they were quickly spun as having turned over a new leaf, an idea that excited Booker to some degree. Whether in genuine excitement for an off ramp to his criminal life considering his later trajectory or some kind of con taking shape in his mind's eye we may never know. Pleading his case to the JLI's at the time manager Maxwell Lord, he decided to kill two birds with one stone. Appointing the inexperience alien Green Lantern G'nort as 'leader' and sending the group to found a new Antarctic branch of the JLI, probably assuming that the desolate continent would keep them out of sight, out of mind and out of trouble.

Until about an hour after the group turned up and discovered a research station overrun with maneating mutant penguins because sometimes life has a VERY avant garde sense of humor. The group battled the foul fowl and with some late assistance from the JLI and the JLE managed to contain the threat but their...less than stellar performance left Lord thoroughly frustrated, laying off the group with a month's advance pay and a kick in the rear on their way out.

It really is one of those little farces of history, a bunch of no name criminals who happened to be in the right place at the right time. Twice, and got themselves into a comedy of errors that would be hackneyed if it ever showed up in print.

Most of its members were scooped up by the Suicide Squad under unknown circumstances and perished along the way but Major Disaster seemed to have been genuinely bitten by the hero bug at some point along the way and he joined a short lived "substitute" Justice League that turned into a real position for the man. He remains in the JLA's reserves to this day, has been a part of their Justice League Unlimited initiative and seems more than happy keeping himself out of trouble...ironically.

The Wolfkiller Cloak

So I have this thing where sometimes I see something on screen and my brain just short-circuits. It scratches my brain just right, I need to have this, I need to make this. And that’s what happened in nearly every episode of Interview with the Vampire, but especially in season 2 episode 3 “No Pain”. 

This cloak has seared itself into my brain. The soft shine, the drape, the movement of the fabric (as Lestat is dragged across the floor and smashed against the wall) had bewitched me, body and mind. So I went out researching and decided to make one for myself, based on this pattern for a hooded cloak.

The fabric I used was stretchy velvet (for budget reasons, 6m) and a black lining fabric with a small diamond print (for fun, 4m). The pattern I used doesn't include a lining and I did think about leaving it out but in the behind the scenes footage (and when Armand smashes him against the wall, thank you for that) you could clearly see that there clearly is a dark lining on the inside of the cloak and my brain decided leaving it out just wasn't an option. So I just cut out the front and back piece twice, one velvet and one lining.

It might be 35°C and sunny outside, but you gotta press those seams. At least for the lining fabric. Then we can pin the lining to the the velvet, sew them together at the collar and start hemming the sides. Be warned. It's a lot of fabric, so you're gonna need a lot of space. I would also recommend (if you're using a stretchy fabric like me) to pin and, if you're able, even sew the hems while it's hanging on a hanger. Yes, I handstitched the sides and bottom hem. Ever since I started looking into historical reconstructions, I have kind of fallen in love with the lack of visible seams. Not to mention that hand stitching has also become something of a favorite pastime of mine while rewatching IWTV.

Now I shortened it, which was quite hard to do simply because it's so much fabric and I don't have a mannequin. So I hung it up, pinned where I wanted to cut it, tried it on, took a video, so I could see the where the cut would be and went from there. Took me a few tries, but I'm quite happy with how it turned out.

Now that that's done, we can attach the shorter layer and the hood. My biggest issue was finding some fur, but lucky for me, I was cat-sitting for my downstairs neighbor who has been working as a theater seamstress for 40 year and who was out of town for the weekend, visiting her son who, unbeknownst to me, also worked for a big theater company. And both of them had made it their personal mission to find me some faux fur. And they did. This incredible faux fur was everything I wanted it to be. A wolf-gray with a red shimmer and some darker spots. I was over the moon.

And it was totally worth coughing up hairballs for the rest of the evening. In the original pattern there actually is a hood lining, but I just replaced that with the fur. I would absolutely recommend stitching the fur and the hood together, as the pattern instructions say. Do as I say, not as I do.

The other issue I had was the fur on the hood. I had ordered a faux fur hood attachment for a winter jacket, but the look and the feel just wasn't the same. So I went on ebay, as I so often do late at night, and kind of hit the jackpot. A fox fur stole, not one person bidding on it, 3 days left to go. Yup, I got it. 30 bucks plus shipping.

I mean, come on. What a difference.

The last issue, the final problem so to speak, was the fact that there was a big border of velvet on the inside of the cloak. Now I tried attaching a long piece of velvet fabric, but it just wouldn't sit right and after the 3rd time attaching and reattaching and getting increasingly frustrated I simply took the easy way out. I cut out a triangular piece of velvet and attached it right where the cloak would open. Sue me.

And there you have it.

And because it's summer rn and I don't have the energy to head outside at night to take some actual pics, I decided to whip something up in photoshop.

Summary: after spending most of your life traveling in time and teletransportating everywhere you ever wanted, you decide to stay in a certain year, not knowing that it would result in getting romantically involved with one of your favorite actors during his rise to fame.

People often think that time traveling and teletransportation is fun, and it is, but after some time it gets… boring.

You discovered your unique abilities when you were just a teenager, basically still a kid, quickly learning how to control those weird moments in which you could just appear in any year or place that you wanted by simply snapping your fingers.

Since then, you visited every city that you ever dreamed of, every year that seemed interesting, and witnessed some historic events with your own eyes, better than any history book.

But now? You decided to calm down for a while, staying in 1976 to live in San Diego for a few months until you can decide what city is the next one in your map.

You have a lot of money for the moment, going back to 1898 to steal diamonds and gold was an easy task, so you don’t have much to worry about, just focusing on burning off your small fortune and have fun around. Maybe you should go to the comic con this evening? you have seen the flyers on every street, and it looks like a good plan for a saturday.

Yeah, you love comics, you have a big collection, but the real reason to go would be to see Mark Hamill in his youth. You remember watching a lot of his movies when you were still a normal kid, so it would be nice to catch a glimpse of him before all that fame hits him like a lightning strike.

After thinking about it all morning, you decide to go.

And half an hour later you’re already walking down the street, wearing some cute clothes and a little bit of makeup, not expecting much more than being just another nerd from the bunch.

The streets are calm, not as busy as they usually are, and everyone seems to enjoy a good time under the bright afternoon sun. But when you get to the comic con then it is a different story. There’s more people than you expected and a tedious long line to get tickets.

However, you don’t have anything better to do, so you wait, leaning against the wall with your arms crossed, simply watching everything around you.

Finally, after some long minutes, you buy your ticket and get in, excited to see how it goes and what new things you can add to your collection.

It’s not a big place, but it’s not small either. There’s a lot of stands with comics for sale, booths with merch for the newest movies, autograph signings from famous illustrators, and of course, the main stage for the press conferences.

Sadly, that stage is still empty, so you still have a lot of time to look around. And that’s exactly what you do, calmly checking out the comics and merch, even more when you get to the star wars table, delighted to be able to see that vintage logo, the small x-wing figures, the printed shirts and the posters and photos.

So, without thinking it twice, you buy a few of those things, hoping that maybe, with a little bit of luck, you’ll get them autographed and then go back to 2030 to sell them for a fortune.

Suddenly, the people cheering and loud voices through the speakers snap you out of your thoughts. The press conference for star wars has started and you’re still away, too lost inside your own mind to realize that you’ve missed the first few minutes.

Taking you newest purchases in your hands, you quickly make your way to the main stage and sit on the last row of chairs. It’s not super near like the front row, but you can perfectly see everything, to the microphones, to the pretty blonde boy who can’t keep still as the two other men answer questions about the movie.

And you never expected Mark Hamill to look that good. You’ve seen famous singers, models, or even roman emperors with your own eyes, but none of them compares to him. He is literally hypnotic, almost like a cosmic being, and now it makes sense of why they chose him to play a hero from another galaxy.

His face, his smile, his everything is just perfect, and with such a beautiful sight the time goes by incredibly fast.

If you could take your phone out to at least have picture of this moment, you would, but you don’t want to attract curious looks from everyone, so you just stare, letting out some dreamy sighs and saving every detail in your own mind.

Once the conference ends, you get up from your seat and walk back to the stands. Perhaps, if you get more lucky, you will find another vintage piece to resell in the future.

And you do, you manage to find some more things that will surely catch a collector’s eye. But when you’re heading to the exit, ready to go back home and call it a day, a familiar blonde hair makes you stop dead in your tracks.

Mark Hamill is there, just a few feets away from you, talking to another man while the other persons walk past the Star Wars stand, oblivious to the fact that they’re ignoring the guy who is about to become an international superstar and the biggest heartthrob of the decade.

And then he looks in your direction, with those piercing blue eyes, smiling slightly, probably finding it cute that you are nervous and not daring to come closer. But how does he expect you to be confident? has he never seen himself in a mirror? he’s the closest thing to an angel and that makes your heart race uncontrollably fast.

“Come say hi, i don’t bite” Mark says, letting out a soft chuckle, his voice kind but teasing.

For a moment you stay still, too impressed with him that you don’t even know what to do. And the fact that he directed a few words to you just makes it worse. In moments like this, you wish that you could be at least a little bit more extroverted and less awkward.

However, you don’t wanna lose the opportunity, so you do your best to approach him and talk normally despite your horrible anxiety.

“Mark, uh- hi, i… i’m one of you biggest fans, been following your career since texas wheelers. Can’t wait to see you in Star Wars.”

Actually, you started following him since you watched the fall of the house of usher as a teenager, but you can’t tell him that for obvious reasons.

And by the way he smiles and tilts his head to the side, it’s not difficult to guess that you’re probably the first fangirl who has come across his path.

“Well, if you liked me in that shitty sitcom, you’re gonna love me in this new movie.” he says, trying his best to lighten the mood.

“Oh, that’s for sure. I’m gonna go the the cinema a couple of times” you answer, as if you didn’t already saw all of his movies on your laptop more than once.

“Sounds like it’s gonna be a total success thanks to you” mark jokes and you smile.

“Star wars is gonna be a success, whether i watch it or not, believe me.”

Mark raises an eyebrow, suspicious as to why would you have so much faith in a new sci-fi movie that not even him believes in.

“How do you know? are you a fortune teller?” he asks.

“Something like that” you say, not wanting to give many details about your weird life. And before he can ask anything else, you hand him the two star wars posters that you just bought an hour ago. “Would you sign this for me? please?”.

He lets out a soft chuckle at your vague answer and then he is kind enough to autograph both of your posters with a black marker, taking his time to write more than just his signature, all while wondering if you are telling the truth or if you just want to mess with him.

Unfortunately, when Mark is almost done signing the second one, another person interrupts him, telling him that someone named Gary is looking for him to discuss some things.

“I need to go” he says, handing you back the two posters. “It was nice meeting you, maybe next time you can tell me the numbers to win the lotto.”

And with that, he just smiles one last time before turning around and getting lost in the crowd. So you stay there a few seconds, incredibly shocked with that first encounter.

His smile and those last words repeat inside your mind over and over again, only for you to realize that yes, he really believes you were messing around with him, but it doesn’t matter to you. The moment was perfect despite his lack of belief.

After that, you just hold the posters against your chest, making your way out of the convention and blushing all the way home.

The next time you meet him is even more unexpected.

You’re sitting on the warm sand of the Malibu beach, feeling the ocean water on your toes, just having some time to yourself while admiring the beautiful sunset, totally captivated by the bright orange in the horizon.

It’s calm, and soothing. The sound of the waves and the slight breeze allow you to shut down your thoughts and relax for a while.

“I knew that your face was familiar” a male voice interrupts your sacred moment as he sits on the sand next to you. “You’re the fortune teller from the san diego comic con a few weeks ago.”

Of course, that’s a voice that you know quite well. And when you look to your right, Mark is there, talking to you again, looking more handsome than ever with an unbuttoned shirt and golden hair getting messy because of the breeze.

“Yeah it’s me” you answer, slightly confused. “How did you recognize me?”

“Well, someone like you is not easy to forget, you have something… different that makes you stand out from the rest.”

Your heart starts to beat fast again. Hearing him say that you’re unforgettable is more than a dreamy compliment. But, deep down, you know that he probably says that because you are from a different time, you look futuristic, and strange, and that’s what always catches everyone’s attention.

“It’s fine, you can say that i’m weird” you laugh, nervously playing with the sand beneath you.

“No, actually i think you’re quite pretty.”

Your cheeks go red immediately and a dumb smile appears in your lips. What are you supposed to say? you’re too shy to flirt back, so you decide to change the subject.

“What brings you to malibu?”

“I love this place, so i wanna move here” he says, in a more serious tone while looking at the ocean. “What about you?”

“Funny” you say, almost thinking that the coincidences are starting to be too much. “I live here, ten minutes away from the beach.”

“Looks like we’ll be neighbors then” he raises an eyebrow. “I got my eye on a nice property in the shore.”

“Great! come by whenever you need a cup of sugar or whatever”

“I’d probably ask for something more than that.”

With that you just let out a good laugh. If another man said that to you, you’d probably roll your eyes, get up and walk away. But it’s different when it comes to him. And you’ve heard guys say so much worse things in your native years of 2020’s that he almost sounds cute.

“Sure, i can give you some salt too if you need it” you joke around, just to see him smile, with those pearly white teeth and pretty wrinkles on his cheeks. Something that could easily overshadow the incredible sunset.

And you’re too lost in his smile to notice the way he is staring at you, with the same infatuation and curiosity.

“You’re not from here, do you?” Mark asks once the laughter is over. “From the states, i mean.”

There’s that question that everyone always makes. And the one that you always have to lie about. What are you supposed to say? that you are actually from the states but you look different because you were born in 2010 as product between two people who were used for experiments by the government and somehow managed to scape from it? he would call you crazy instead of fortune teller this time.

So you use the same made up story that you created for everyone who asks.

“I was born in spain, but my parents migrated here when i was five. Sadly, they passed away a while ago after i turned sixteen, so now i’m alone in this country.”

“Oh i’m sorry” he says, the smile fading from his face, regretting to touch such a sensitive topic. “I shouldn’t have-“

“It’s fine” you cut him off. Your parents are safe and sound in 2031, living their best life, so you don’t want to bug him with that. “Why don’t you tell me more about yourself?”

And that’s all you needed for him to talk for long minutes, with no intention to stop soon. But you can’t complain, his voice is really soothing, and his stories are entertaining, enough for you to listen attentively for some time, just saying one comment occasionally or laughing at his jokes.

Once more you end up being hypnotized by him, exactly like the first time, or is it that you’re just easy to impress with a pretty face? you’re not sure, but when you realize, the sun is completely gone and it has gotten super late.

You need to go home. And Mark, being a total gentleman, offers to walk you there, because there’s no way that he would ever let you go alone, even less at night.

The playful conversation keeps going all the way there, while walking close to each other, almost bumping shoulders. And when you get to your front door, he holds your hand, carefully, as a way to ask you to don’t go inside yet and stay with him just a few seconds more.

“Will i see you tomorrow?” he blurts out, patiently waiting for your answer, with a nervous smile on his lips.

How could you say no to him?

“Probably” you say, feeling your cheeks get burning red. “If not, you know where to find me.”

You really plan on leaving it there, clearly not expecting much else, just a dramatic goodbye to end the night. But before you know it, he pulls you closer, placing a hand on the nape of your neck to lean in for a kiss.

It’s soft and gentle, a quick peck on the lips, and it’s over before you can even realize what happened. But it makes you feel like the luckiest girl in the world, with thousands of butterflies fluttering in your stomach and a heart that threatens to get out of your chest.

“Good, cause you still owe me the numbers of the lotto.” He says, returning to his funny side as he lets go of your hand.

But you’re way too shocked by the kiss that you can’t even think of a good comeback. So you just smile and say goodbye to him with a wave of your hand, getting into the safety of your home and immediately closing the door.

Maybe Mark wonders if he overstepped your boundaries. Or maybe he thinks that it’s really cute how you got so flustered. You will never know.

It doesn’t matter, though. You’re so happy that you could burst into tears or giggle to yourself the whole night. Maybe you should even go to 2031 to tell your mom exactly what happened, and she would be happy to know that you finally found a decent man instead of a total jerk.

But first, you need to calm down, and probably listen to some romantic songs while praying that you’re not just another notch in his belt.

Almost six months later you are nervous as hell. Probably more than that. You are terrified.

It’s only a matter of minutes until you and Mark arrive to the ziegfeld theatre for the star wars premiere in new york, but you’re still stuck in traffic, in the leather backseats of a very luxurious car. And when you look out the window, you can already see loads of people around, which makes you feel extremely overwhelmed.

Obviously, you think that you’re managing that anxiety and nervousness quite well, but you don’t, and Mark can easily tell how you’re not having a good time just by the way your hands play with the seams of your expensive silk dress or the fluff of your synthetic fur stole.

“Take a deep breath, please” he tells you, taking one of your hands between his. “It’s gonna be alright.”

Sure, it’s easy for him to say that when his job is to literally have cameras on his face all the time. He’s used to it, but you’re not. And what scares you the most is that this would be the first time in which you appear together in public as a couple.

What if his fans don’t like you? what if you can’t stand all that sudden attention? what if-

“Please” he repeats himself, squeezing your hand. “Just a few pics and we’ll go inside. Can you do that for me?”

“I’ll try” you nod, a shy smile lingering on your lips as you turn your gaze away from the window to look at him.

He looks so calm, and so so handsome. It doesn’t matter if you already watched him getting ready all day, seeing him with that black tuxedo, bow tie and hair combed back, makes your breath falter and your head feel dizzy.

That’s how you realize that you’re screwed. You already fell hard and face first.

Has he fell hard for you too? yes. All this time he has done nothing but prove that he loves you, in ways that you never expected, yet you still can’t comprehend how you managed to pull such a man. It feels unreal.

Minutes later, when you finally arrive to the place, Mark gets out of the car first and then goes to your side to open the door for you, even offering you his hand as an extra help, because he knows that it’s hard to walk with high heels, and also because your legs are trembling due to your nerves.

“I know you can do this, sweetheart” he whispers to you, inviting you to hold on to his arms instead of his hand. “Smile at everyone and that’s it… and please don’t faint.”

You take a deep breath, gather the courage necessary, and then start walking beside him, gripping his arm so hard that you fear to wrinkle his tux.

There’s a lot noise, bright lights everywhere, a multitude of photographers, journalists, press and a much more that doesn’t help with your nerves. It makes you nauseous and sweaty, but you try your best to deal with it, concentrating on Mark and not on anything else.

As soon as you both step on the red carpet, you can practically feel all eyes on you, with the camera flashes immediately going off over and over again. Most of the photographers are focused on Mark, he is the star after all, but some others pay attention to you, the mysterious girl by his side.

And it’s only when you’re being blinded by the intense flashes that you get a slight sense of guilt.

You shouldn’t be doing this. You already messed up his whole timeline. He was supposed to appear on all this pictures with somebody else, with some other girl from his time.

But do you care? not one bit. This is like a dream come true.

And while you’re too deep in your thoughts, posing for the cameras and controlling your nerves, it’s almost impossible for you to notice that soon a few of the photographers find something better to focus on.

This time they don’t point their lenses at Mark, or you, or the expensive clothes that you decided to wear for the occasion…

Cadybear's MC Wardrobes: Evie Ayana, OG HSS Book 1 (Part 1). Featuring some edits by me!

This is a new series that was inspired by @tveitertotwrites's Outfit Replacements Series.

How this series goes: With each book, for a MC I'm invested in, I'll assess each of their in-game outfits. How much do I like or dislike the outfit? Is this something that suits my MC's style, or does it make me go "My MC would NOT wear/own this"? And for the outfits that my MC would not wear or own, how would I alter or replace them? I'm not going to use screenshots from the actual game because I can't be arsed. Also I want to use the different sprite expressions to express how my MC would feel about each outfit.

I like to think this is a good opportunity to elaborate on my MCs' dress styles, and show off some edits :D

First up, we'll be assessing the wardrobe from OG HSS Book 1, for the one and only, my beloved Evie Ayana! However, I've had to make this into two parts because of Tumblr's 30 image limit.

Directory for the other parts will be included in the reblogs after I've completed the posts for all books!

Ch 1: "Sweet Dreams" Pajamas

The pants are nice and 100% in Evie's style. Evie LOVES soft fuzzy textures and loose cozy soft pants.

The camisole top, on the other hand, is... not really her taste. It's a bit too short, and the lace trim isn't quiiiite her thing.

Verdict: Only partly in Evie's wardrobe. Alter by replacing the top.

Here's what this outfit would look more like in Evie's style. As well as some alternate pajamas she'd have, because she would absolutely adore those mint-colored smiley-face ice cream pajamas.

Ch 1: "Cool for School" Starter Outfit

Perfect. All the yes. Very gender. Especially the smiley face button and the kitten button. 100%, Evie's fall casual outfit. (I kind of like also that both she and Emma wear tops with horizontal stripes for their fall casual outfits)

Verdict: Part of Evie's wardrobe, and is Evie's official fall casual outfit. Keep it as is.

Ch 1: "Morning Jog" Starter Outfit

Not bad, but the sweater top is definitely far too short for Evie. She doesn't cares much for leggings also, she far prefers slightly loose soft pants.

Verdict: Not quite part of Evie's wardrobe. Alter by lengthening the sweater and stretching the leggings.

Here's what this outfit would approximately look more like to suit Evie's tastes (yeah, unfortunately some of these outfits don't like it when I use the Liquify tool to stretch them). This one, she'd love as an outfit for pajamas, lounging around the house, or for a cool day workout.

Ch 1: "Cardi Cute" Starter Outfit

This outfit truly is super cute, I love the floral pattern and the heart necklace and so would Evie. This is one of the few more fem-leaning outfits Evie would be comfortable wearing– she is okay with skirts or dresses every now and then, so long as A) they're loose/flowy, B) mid-thigh length or lower, and C) absolutely no leg/thigh slits.

However, she'd far prefer this as a spring casual outfit. Something more flowery, light, and carefree like this outfit is far better for spring, both weather wise and aesthetic wise.

Verdict: Part of Evie's wardrobe. Keep it as is (but use it only in Book 3).

Ch 1: "The Bombshell" Premium Starter Outfit

I love this floral print, and so would Evie. But this length of top is not her style, and neither is the choker(?)-style necklace.

Evie doesn't really care for midriff/belly-revealing outfits unless they allow her to put her abs on display (and even then, she's still very picky about the style), and, well... obviously the in-game f!MC sprite does not have abs. PB give us muscular f!MC options challenge (failed).

Of course, even if the sprite did have abs, the top wouldn't really show them. So it's not worth the diamonds to me.

If it was longer? I absolutely would spend the diamonds (though probably for it to be a spring outfit).

Verdict: Only partly in Evie's wardrobe. Alter by lengthening the top and making the choker necklace into a regular necklace.

Here's what this outfit would approximately look more like to suit Evie's tastes.

Ch 1: "Dare to be Different" Premium Starter Outfit

Evie would love this shade of blue and definitely would own the necklaces. She might find the flower crown cute (but probably wouldn't wear it much).

However, both the dress on its own and the outfit as a whole are not her style at all. Especially not the yellow leggings. They do not look good with this color dress.

And it feels more like a semiformal/party outfit to me anyways, so yeah. Maybe some other MC I make would like this, but not Evie.

Verdict: Only partly in Evie's wardrobe. Keep the jewelry and the flower crown for other potential outfits, but ditch the rest.

Ch 2: "Summer Fling" Premium Outfit for Brian's Pool Party

NOPE! Absolutely not! The style of top combined with how short it is, is not for Evie at all. And you wouldn't catch her DEAD in short shorts.

She might like some of the jewelry, though. But that's about it.

I could edit or alter this one, by replacing the shorts with jeans and then making a longer version of the top... but even then, I don't think this kind of top is quite her style.

Verdict: Evie would NOT own this. Replace entirely. Keep the jewelry for other potential outfits, but ditch the rest.

The outfit that m!MC gets is much more her style. May not be as attention-grabbing, but it's her way of being the hottest girl at the pool party. Though she would also be the type to just show up to the party in her regular casual outfit. That works just as well too.

Also, here's that edit of Aiden in the outfit again because I like it better on him. <3 <3 <3

Ch 2: Swimsuit

I like this pattern print and so would Evie. And she'd definitely love to wear a bikini to show off her abs. Though... preferably with a pair of swim trunks. That style of bikini bottom is just a HUGE no-no for Evie. I mean, she probably would wear it for comfort, but just underneath her swim trunks

Also, the bracelets... they're cute, but they're a rather odd addition to this outfit. IDK.

Verdict: Technically part of Evie's wardrobe, but needs the addition of an extra piece. Keep the outfit itself as is, but alter by putting swim trunks over the bottoms.

Here's what this outfit would look more like to suit Evie's tastes. Plus an alternate swimsuit that I headcanon she'll wear in other events.

Ch 6: Football Uniform

My baby jock girl in her first uniform. The utter joy expressed in the slow-printing "My first uniform!" text in the scene is so absolutely deserved.

Look at her. So gender. I'm so proud of her.

Verdict: Technically not in Evie's wardrobe because you have to return uniforms at the end of the season, but the point is, Evie would love wearing it. Keep it as is.

The football uniform is, of course, determinant on activity choice. Even though Evie's canon is being a jock in all three books, I'll also review the band and cheer uniforms, because I can.

BONUS ROUND: Ch 6: Band Uniform

So snazzy! In the AU where Evie joins band, she would absolutely rock this outfit. Especially the top.But I don't think she'd like wearing it for the outdoors band practices on hotter days.

Verdict: Technically not in Evie's wardrobe because you have to return uniforms, but the point is, Evie would love wearing it (in the band!Evie AU). Keep it as is.

BONUS ROUND: Ch 6: Cheer Uniform

Evie's going to second Jade Ali on this one: "You won't catch me dead wearing one of those tiny skirts".

Verdict: Technically not in Evie's wardrobe because you have to return uniforms, but either way, Evie would NOT wear this. Alter by replacing the skirt with pants and lengthening the top.

If Evie did cheer (it's not quite her thing, but she isn't completly closed to the idea), she'd much rather wear pants like in the m!MC's cheerleader uniform. But would still want a sleeveless top, to better show off her biceps.

Ch 9: "Eye of the Tiger" and "Hear My Roar" Premium Tiger Mascot Suits for the pep rally

Both of these are pretty good, I think Evie would really dig that white one. But at the same time, I'm not fully sure she would be up to wearing a mascot outfit. She'd be worried about how hot and sweaty it'd get in there.

But at the same time, I also want that scene where she accidentally throws a school logo t-shirt into Aiden's face. Especially since it parallels with a later scene later on in the same chapter where he accidentally hits her with a crumpled up ball of paper.

Verdict: Keep both outfits as they are, but whether or not Evie would wear them is still being decided. Come back to this later.

Ch 11: "Garb of the Enemy" Premium Disguise for sneaking into Hearst

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Nah

Aside from the comfy-looking jacket and the cute bow, this just isn't Evie's style (though at least the skirt isn't as small, lmao).

I think she'd also question why no one else in the group can wear a disguise, and would doubt the ability of this outfit to truly disguise her.

So to her, it wouldn't be worth it to wear this. Have Julian be the fake Hearst cheerleader instead tbh. I mean, he did do that in Prime once. It'd be a pretty neat little bonus callback, especially considering the more mature Choices!Julian likely wouldn't be as embarrased about it as Prime!Julian was.

Verdict: Evie would NOT wear this, not even for the temporary questionable disguise. But she would only partly own it. Keep the jacket and bow and maybe alter it for a different outfit (Mia probably would let her), but ditch the rest. Let Mia burn it later lol. Well, after Julian wears it as a disguise.

Now, Max's letterman jacket for the m!MC on the other hand... Evie would still be unsure about being the only one in a disguise and its effectiveness as a disguise, but it suits her much better and she'd be more willing to wear it. I mean, just look at her!

Aaaaand because that's the 30 image limit, we'll return in Part 2!

i can't let go of the melon, because it would shatter and it would be a mess, so instead i balance it on one hip and use one hand to pull my t-shirt out from where it's tucked into my skinny jeans and pull it down as far as it will go. i secure the melon and i do not look at anything or anyone while i walk the 30 metres to the car.

once back at the department i discover that the melon hauling rsulted in a rip that makes my jeans stretch to a fetching 10cm x 10cm diamond window and that i have put on panties with a lace panel in the back on this day. luckily i packed shorts that day because of the heat.

It wasn’t his proudest moment yet Joker wouldn’t spend his quiet night at home any other way. Sitting in front of his pretty girl, getting pampered really wasn’t as bad as it seemed, even if he looked absolutely ridiculous while doing so.

“So? How does it feel?” You asked. 

Joker thought about it long and hard and flickered his gaze up to you, catching a curious gleam in your bright e/c eyes, staring back at him. You arched an eyebrow, waiting for a response. 

He wrinkled his nose and sighed. “It tingles.”

“Okay…? Does it tingle because it's actively working or tingles because it's uncomfortable? I don’t want you breaking out or anything.” 

He went to scratch his face until your hand stopped the motion. “J, stop or you’ll wipe it off! You don’t want all my hard work getting ruined now do you?” You smiled and wiped your own hands off on a nearby towel. 

Joker looked handsome despite wearing a cow print spa headband with a blue bow on top. It kept his freshly washed hair away from his face as the moisturizers, toners, serums, creams, and countless other products absorbed into his face. 

He sat at your ring lit vanity to let you apply just about every product you owned to his face, all with a grumpy frown for almost an hour now. You were nearing the end (that’s the lie you’ve been telling him for the past twenty minutes) until you slapped– literally slapped– another product into the apples of his cheeks.

And that’s where he was right now. 

Letting some flowery smelling acid that he couldn’t even pronounce, eat (safely) at his skin. If it made you happy… he’d endure the odd textures being patted, slapped, and blotted on his rosy toned face. 

He secretly enjoyed being doted on but he wouldn’t admit that aloud. 

“It. Just… tingles Bunny ‘tis okay.” He mumbled. You took pity on him and kissed his bare lips with a flourish. At least he enjoyed that. 

“Alright J, but you’ll tell me if it starts to irritate you any? I want to help combat your bad skin habits, not make them worse.” Of course he took offense to that and made a face. 

“What bad habits?”

You crossed your arms and leaned back on the vanity, still standing in between his legs. Did he seriously not know the damage he did to his skin for years? 

“Joker. You leave heavy greasepaint on your face for weeks at a time for years without cleansing your pores and you think that’s not bad habits? Who would’ve thought you had freckles under that ghastly white paint?!” 

You giggled at the pout Joker unknowingly made and plopped down onto his lap. He automatically opened his arms to hold you close. “I didn’t care bout it doll, not until you, err.. educated meee on iT.”

“Exactly! I can’t believe you hid such a handsome face all these years.” You cupped the back of his head and admired his unique beauty up close.

It was a privilege only you held. Joker was truly a diamond in the rough and it still baffled you that he chose you as a partner. “This skin routine is beneficial, even if it tingles.”

You finished off Joker’s routine with a swipe of a hydrating lip balm. It felt funny applying it to someone else for a change. 

You smiled once you were done and leaned back to admire your hard work. Joker’s face looked like a dewy, glazed doughnut. A grumpy doughnut, but hey you weren’t picky.

He cracked his neck after sitting for almost an hour but stared at his reflection in the mirror. Ehh not bad. 

He watched you put away the excessive amount of products back into their designated spot. He still didn’t see why you went through all this trouble every night with him. What did you get out of this? He looked the same in his opinion. 

You squealed when Joker grabbed you around the waist and attacked you with kisses. He knew the products on his face wouldn’t smear but you still laughed and told him to cut it out.

He grinned and yanked the ridiculous headband you placed on him off before lifting you up bridal style.

1/2 A couple of months ago, Amazon became available in my country, and I took the opportunity to order the Kyoshi and Yangchen novels (plus the complete collection of Calvin and Hobbes). When they arrived I realized that even though I've been an atla fan since it first came out, these books are the first piece of (official) atla merchandise I've ever owned. I kinda wanna own more, but other than the original artbook

2/2 and the "Beasts of the Four Nations" book that has been delayed for who knows how long now, I'm not really interested in anything else. However, it got me curious: what atla merchandise do you own? Do you have all the comics? DVDs/Blu-rays? Any figurines? Do you keep them all in a shelf specifically reserved for avatar products? :P

Good choices! (Both the Avatar novels and Calvin & Hobbes. I have the paperback complete collection box-set and it's a delight.)

Anyway, fun question! I was going to take a picture, but I realized I have too much stuff to photogenically arrange. I do not have an Avatar display, and in fact I currently am in dire need of extra shelving and only have a few haphazard displays of various things, with most of shelving given to my increasingly-chaotic library. I do have my Diamond Select Aang figure flying over my dresser, so that's nice.

As for what I don't own:

I didn't get any of the McFarlane toys because I didn't like some of their sculpts and the articulation was very low. Likewise, I dropped the Diamond Selects line because their sculpts were getting worse, their articulation had never been good, and once the McFarlane line came out I knew I'd have options. The BST AXN toys are the best yet, but they seem to be done with their line and haven't gotten to the Dangerous Ladies, so that's probably another false start. I'd just like a line of toys which collects all the major cast members in a cartoon-accurate standard style with enough articulation to do some martial arts poses. Is that too much to ask?

I also haven't bothered with the Korra comics or art books since I'm not a fan of the animated series. The stuff I've acquired for Korra literally came from someone at a convention shoving the product at me, hence that cardstock art print I can't identify.

I waver on whether to get the Avatar Legacy books, since their art looks nice but they have the 'smell' of non-canon material to them. I'd probably pick them up if something brings them to my attention while they're discounted, or if I receive them as gifts. I have absolutely no interest in the Avatar cookbook since I don't cook and, again, the 'lore' included probably isn't even close to canon. I might be interested in the Beasts book, but I need more info on it; I'd be interested in a real reference book or new material, but not something that just slaps some new art on the info already collected on the wiki. I don't care about the kiddie books.

All my signed items were obtained myself at various conventions and are made out to me by name. NYCC has been a big help there for the books, comics, and posters, although Baltimore Comic Con has pulled its weight, and I have to give big props to my local anime convention for getting me a Dante Basco signature for free, even if I didn't own a Blu-Ray set at the time to get signed. I attended a dual-signing at NYCC one year with Gene Yang and Faith Hicks, but I was the only one with an entire box full of stuff, so I had to narrow down the Yang stuff to just the first volumes of each trilogy in order not to get kicked out of line. And yes, I deliberately left out The Promise; I couldn't even get that one signed ironically.

I have a lot of Avatar Legends stuff for a game I'm never going to play because I have no friends. I backed the Kickstarter out of interest and support for the brand, and then I've gotten a bunch of free extra stuff via giveaways at NYCC, but I don't see the point in buying expansions/adventures for a game I'm not playing.

Movable Type X

That was Chinese in 1140 by Bi Sheng (990-1051 AD). He used clay for printing. Wang Zhen made wooden movable type, around 1297.

Metal Movable type X

That was Koreans, 13th century Goryeo. Jikji is the first book to be printed with metal movable type.

So you might be wondering... so why don't all those other men get credit? It goes like this: After Catholic Spain took over Islamic part of Spain, i.e. Al Andalus, they tried to purge all mention of Islamic influences on the continent, which included any innovations that Islamic peoples made. This incuded maths sciences and arts. This kinda half failed since you still have Gothic churches with pointed windows. But basically the idea was to purge any credit given to Islamic people.

According to the first article the people that brought the idea to Europe were Uighurs, Chinese Islamic Peoples via the silk road. So there would be high motivation to purge any credit to other people during that time period, thus censure.

Thus Gutenberg mysteriously invented it on his own they say out of thin air using Chinese invented paper. OMG. You mean the added cloth fibers that made paper strong enough to withstand printing mysteriously appeared in Europe and then people were suddenly cut off from China? Ya gotta be kidding me.

To me, this is like saying Europeans invented boats. Independently invented writing. And were unaffected by Mongols invading. Ya know, the White revisionist history that says Europe never traded and mysteriously invented Science and ALgebra [algebra an Arabic word? Al gebra]. (But it was the Greeks that invented Maths) Babylonians. *sighs* I went over what Europe actually invented independently of the world already.

You should see Europeans lose their crap every time I edit the page on Gutenberg to fact check them. But the adjustable type mould is boring~~ I don't think fonts are boring at all. They help people with disabilities read better. Why do you think it's boring?
