got recognised in public
Earlier today while I was out to buy some Red Bull (not sponsored, but I wish), someone actually recognised me as "NorthaDawn, Titanic guy", which is still pretty surreal to me as I don't consider someone who would be notable for public recognition, haha
They were cool about it, I gave them a signature and we both went off with our day. This is like the third time I ran into someone who recognised me in public by my art name, and if you're one of the people I ran into reading this now, hello and thanks for the support! Hope you enjoyed our small interaction!

Mindful Leadership for a Productive Team
Great teams work hard, but they also work smoothly. A positive, productive workplace creates an environment where employees want to excel and stay motivated to achieve success. Small shifts in your company’s leadership approach can significantly impact how your employees engage with the workplace.
Productivity thrives when employees experience encouragement, involvement, and respect.
The Power of Positive Reinforcement in Employee Productivity
In many ways, a person’s work ethic is a reflection of who they’re working for. Employees who know their contributions matter are more likely to stay engaged and work with extra effort. Recognition and rewards fuel motivation, and you’ll notice greater productivity and workplace morale as a result.
But positive reinforcement doesn’t just mean handing out bonuses or promotions. Instead, you must focus on creating a culture where feedback is frequent, meaningful, and tied to specific achievements. A simple "great job on that report" or "I appreciate your creativity in that project" can go a long way to validate employee effort. Public recognition, small incentives, or even personal thank-you notes can reinforce behaviors and keep your team working toward success.
Once you start a chain of positive reinforcement, stay consistent with it. As an example, Google and Apple implemented this quite effectively by embedding recognition into their daily operations. Google’s peer-to-peer bonus system allows employees to reward each other for great work, while Apple pays out cash and stock bonuses to eligible employees.
You don’t have to be a massive company to make positive reinforcement a key feature of your work culture it doesn’t require a tremendous budget, and you can get started right away.
Start by acknowledging wins, big and small. Make feedback part of team meetings and celebrate employee milestones. A workplace that recognizes effort tends to see better performance, stronger collaboration, and higher job satisfaction.
Implementing Mindfulness and Well-being Strategies for a More Focused Team
When your workplace prioritizes mindfulness, it could see lower stress, increased engagement, and better productivity. Employees who feel mentally clear and supported can typically make better decisions, work more efficiently, and experience greater job satisfaction.
Mindful team-building helps create an environment where employees feel present, focused, and valued. Activities like guided group meditations, gratitude-sharing circles, or end-of-week reflection sessions can strengthen team connections while bringing down stress levels.
Some companies incorporate mindful listening exercises, where team members practice fully focusing on a colleague’s ideas without interruption for deeper communication. Others introduce creative outlets like journaling or art breaks, allowing employees to reset and express themselves in a low-pressure way.
You can also give employees time to practice mindfulness on their own. Encourage employees to take short breathing breaks, practice gratitude, or use guided meditation apps. Even a few minutes of mindfulness each day can alleviate workplace stress, improve concentration, and boost energy.
Workplace well-being isn’t a quick fix. Companies that invest in improving employee well-being create a culture where people feel supported. Flexible schedules, mental health resources, and open conversations about stress lay the foundation for a positive workplace culture. Supportive leadership also plays a key role in combatting employee burnout. Managers who check in regularly, respect work-life balance, and lead by example set the tone for a healthier workplace.
Companies like LinkedIn and SAP have seen success by embedding mindfulness into their culture. LinkedIn offers in-office and app-based meditation sessions. SAP gives employees a mental health day and encourages them to get mental health support when needed. These efforts lead to happier, more engaged teams.
Structuring the Work Environment for Success
A well-designed workspace keeps employees comfortable, focused, and productive. Ergonomics is more important than most realize, as inadequate ergonomic support may cause posture-related aches, vision strain, and chronic joint stress, leading to long-term health issues and lower job satisfaction. These factors may lead to increased absenteeism and lower morale in turn.
Both office and home workspaces impact how well employees perform. A cluttered, poorly arranged desk can be distracting, and an uncomfortable chair or incorrect monitor height can lead to fatigue. Simple adjustments make a big difference.
In the workplace, provide adjustable chairs, monitor stands, and ergonomic keyboards to help employees maintain good posture and reduce strain. Also, encourage proper desk setup—feet flat on the floor, screen at eye level, and wrists in a neutral position—to prevent long-term injuries and support focus.
There are simple changes you can make in the work environment, too. Natural lighting reduces eye strain and boosts mood, and standing desks or movement-friendly setups help prevent stiffness.
Encouraging Smarter Decision-Making for Greater Efficiency
Decision fatigue happens when employees face too many choices throughout the day, and their ability to think clearly declines. It can drain mental energy, slow productivity, and increase workplace stress when an employee gets to this point. Even small decisions, like choosing a task to tackle first or which meeting to prioritize, can add up, leaving less mental bandwidth for important work. Simplifying decision-making helps employees stay focused and efficient.
You can start combating decision fatigue by standardizing processes. Have clear workflows, checklists, and automation tools in place to eliminate unnecessary choices and allow employees to move through tasks without overthinking. For example, you can set default meeting durations or create templates for routine emails to remove guesswork and save time.
Another strategy is to use prioritization frameworks like the Eisenhower Matrix or the Pareto Principle. These methods help employees categorize tasks based on urgency and impact, so it’s easier to focus on what truly matters. By introducing structured decision-making approaches, you can create clarity and reduce unnecessary stress.
Also, invest in staff training to help employees make quick, confident decisions and improve efficiency. Encourage team members to trust their expertise and use predefined guidelines. Role-playing exercises and real-world scenarios help employees sharpen their judgment for faster problem-solving.
Finally, delegating decisions at the right level builds a stronger team. When employees have autonomy over their responsibilities, they make quicker choices without waiting for approval. This can speed up workflow while keeping employees accountable.
Building a Culture of Productivity and Positivity
You’ll need intentional changes in the workplace for it to thrive. Positive reinforcement keeps employees motivated, mindfulness reduces stress, and ergonomic workspaces improve focus. You can also help teams work smarter, not harder, by simplifying their decision-making processes. When leaders prioritize well-being and efficiency, they build a stronger team and a healthier work culture. The result is all wins, like higher engagement, better performance, and long-term success.

i am not going to parody myself by posting yet another song from the smithsonian folkways' classic labor songs collection but i did burst into tears when "we just come to work here, we don't come to die" came on in the car while i was driving to work. the occupational safety and health act was passed fifty-five years ago last week. countless workers died to get that legislation passed, and it was, i cannot emphasize this enough, a weak liberal compromise from the outset! it was inadequate! OSHA has never been equal to its stated purpose of protecting workers from occupational hazards, it is not radical, its existence was always a placatory measure in place of real worker power on jobsites! we knew that then & labor power has declined so much that i'm sitting here like, mourning an agency which was designed to undercut unions, which is no disrespect to any individual person who worked there, many of whom did vital work with great care, or at the national institute for occupational safety & health, which has recently been liquidated, functionally ending black lung surveillance programs & removing part 90 coverage [rule that allows workers with early signs of black lung to be moved to less-dusty jobs without penalty, prolonging their lives in the face of incurable disease]. all of these measures were always insufficient to begin with! but now there's not even an effort to pretend that the government should protect the people from whom it draws its authority, because they are just straight up shamelessly KILLING FOLKS AT WORK AGAIN. on top of the baldfaced murder being done in the name of law enforcement. and we're all just supposed to pay our fucking taxes and stuff, jesus wept
#anne feeney rocks#i am going to lose my goddamned mind#black lung gained public recognition the first time because UMWA conducted an aggressive [very literal] unionization campaign#& then an aggressive strike campaign during the second world war. & then again miners organizing around UMWA#shut down the sector & forced the issue. 'pres. nixon we ain't got much but we sure got electric power - black lung benefits now'#well they don't have that fucking leverage anymore! they don't have the union density or centralized control over a vital resource!#so what the fuck is the point! guys are getting black lung in their fucking 30s & the scientists who can help catch it & prevent it#have been laid off & the coal operators don't give a SHIT. they won't be held liable for a fucking MINUTE. evil! i'm losing it#anyway you know the answer i know the answer mother fuckin jones knew it. but i'm miserable for the moment#irredeemable whining#us politics#industrial dust inhalation disease

this chapter made me so emo about Keiichi. I still don't really get what his deal is but for him to start out as a bully and a petty rival, and then this??
boy loves his hometown so much that he literally has no greater ambition than to live and die in it. meanwhile his brother has his sights on the NHL; Rou is aiming for the Olympics. is it heartwarming that Keiichi treasures his home so much that he can't see anything beyond it, or sad that he has hundreds of photos of the same factory smokestack that he's already planning to die staring at??
I don't know. but Noda could have easily made Keiichi the hotshot rival who thinks he deserves the best in the world, but instead he made Keiichi a big fish dreaming only of his small pond.
(from Dogsred ch. 28)
#there's also the extra layer of how these chapters keep casually bringing up how fleeting this all is#19 year winning streak destroyed in a day. the winners? town destroyed in a tsunami in a day#last year's hotshot players now public enemy number one#'your dad would have been the best player on the team if wasn't for the injury in college'#it feels like everyone who goes into professional sports has to acknowledge what a short shelf life there is#you get ten good years maybe twenty and then you have to retire and do something else#keiichi's lack of ambition is kind of surprisingly refreshing. he wants to play for the local asia league team and thats it#you shouldn't HAVE to aim for worldwide recognition! VERY few people will ever get that!#but at the same time. keiichi just keeps saying 'we just gotta win our throne back' but almost everyone else around him is thinking about#what comes after that. what else they want to do.#in the last chapter keiichi looked down on rou because he thought rou was bringing down their chances of regaining the throne#but rou immediately shot back that all keiichi is aiming for is high school while he's aiming for the olympics#like. you cant BE rivals when it turns out youre aiming for different things!#anyway im rambling#its like theres some instinct in keiichi that recognizes this is fleeting this can't go that far. keep your dreams pragmatic#dogsred#manga caps#dogsred caps

do u think when Marc meets little kids (all decked out in gear to support him 🥺) he thinks of his little kid self and how much love and devotion HE had. Turns the whole thing into something just as lovely and pure as he possibly can because he recognises how important stuff like that is. waaah.
#ok I’m putting this in the tags bc it’s decidedly NOT a rosquez post. On purpose#but do u think he thinks abt himself w his model vale bikes and ofc that whole thing changed bc of how their relationship changed#but do u think for a second it’s not even about that anymore it’s just like#that recognition of how dedicated u have to be to be a kid like that#and the whole thing takes on an even more pure/lovely vibe because of his own experiences#like to recognise someone who is the same as u#and to not turn it into something ugly but rather to make it even more beautiful BECAUSE u know the reality of the other side of it#this post does not detail the complexities of my thoughts on <- that whole thing btw.#but anyway I made myself emotional thinking abt it#ALSO disclaimer I don’t even mean mean that Marc thinks abt vale all the time etc etc#I just think. being a fan of the sport in that specific intense way was a very big part of certainly the public perception of MM so like.#in the sense of that feeling moreso than anything else idk#ANYWAY this is just silly yapping <3#for more annoying adjacent yapping u will have to see my twitter since I refuse to do this often#marc marquez#motogp

sorry i’m gonna keep yapping. i think batman and superman are about tied for how iconic they are in the general public but i think batman is a rare case of how everyone knows his name & his backstory & his entire deal. with superman the average person will probably know hes an alien raised by humans, they know his powers, and they know his weakness is kryptonite. but (mostly due to how vague the explosion of krypton usually is) i don’t think his backstory is as well known, and clark kent -> superman is less common knowledge than bruce wayne -> batman (still pretty common just not as common i don’t think). and lex is really the only villain of his that could be considered well known and even then i don’t think anything about him is common knowledge. BATMAN on the other hand. everyone knows his backstory, everyone knows his vibes. his weapons aren’t as iconic as superman’s powers but are still fairly well known. but everyone knows the story of his parents getting shot in front of him so he becomes a vigilante, and his Code against killing is so well known (even though superman has the same morals i think it’s more associated with batman). the batcave. the batmobile. robin. his rogues gallery. i just think in terms of how well known they are in the general public that batman has a lot more about him that i would consider somewhat common knowledge
#the names & visuals of batman and superman are about tied in terms of recognition#but i think the general public knows more about batman than they do superman#my source is myself from like 5 years ago before i got into dc#anyways you can ignore this post i don’t even know what i’m talking about anymore

i know some people are absolutely incensed that Arcane dropped the ball on the classism and discrimination and poverty and all those plotlines they had introduced but the truth of the matter is that Arcane always framed any type of Zaunite insurrection/revolution against Piltover in bad lighting and claimed that any fight/war for the freedom and wellbeing of future generations is ultimately evil because it gets people living right now killed
Vander is the most sympathetic Undercity leader/hot shot only because he is supporting Piltover's superiority and oppression of the Undercity. he has a deal with the cops to ensure that he will keep his people obedient and subservient to Piltover and the cops. he aids the status quo and thus Piltover's exploitation of Zaun; he never encourages pushing for change in any manner, violent or non-violent, instead always pressuring those around him (esp Vi) to just take Piltover's scraps and mistreatment because you wouldnt want to lose your loved ones, would you? (which is just like, a threat. an actual threat that figures of authority like cops make to their victims to keep them inline) Completely ignoring the fact that people in Zaun HAVE, ARE, and WILL BE losing loved ones to police brutality, disease, toxic/radioactive exposure, famine, poverty, gang violence, etc. BECAUSE OF PILTOVER.
Arcane is/(started out as) a great show but it was always most sympathetic towards Piltover and the status quo. it never pushed for Zaun's independence/freedom in any meaningful way--and whenever it did deal with Zaun potentially becoming its own nation? it didn't show the power of revolutions, of class actions, of uniting and protesting and fighting back--it just said that if you sit your ass down tight and let the oppressive government shit on you enough, you might eventually be granted some rights--unless you fuck it up with a rocket, of course. but that's not how real life has ever worked
not only that but any attempt at fighting back is literally shown as being plain violence for violence's sake. we dont see or hear anything about how silco or vander planned on rebuilding the Undercity/Zaun, how they wanted to expand infrastructure, how they would support the people and keep them safe--Arcane doesnt paint revolutions as the complex operations they are, they just show us the violence of them and nothing else. like really, all Silco wants to do is use Shimmer to scare topside--but that's not how revolutions or fighting against opressors works! because Piltover will be scared, yes, but that just means they will double down harder on all the violence and restrictions. that's obvious. not only that, but lets say Piltover gets scared and retracts from Zaun completely--Zaun seems to be heavily dependent on trade from Piltover to get what they need to survive. Silco doesnt mention anything about how to fix that. and that to me just plays on harmful stereotypes about any and all kinds of social movements. all of the real work is reduced to violence.
i dont have a closing statement im just so pissed at how theyre handling the classism in s1 now that im rewatching it
#arcane#league of legends#arcane netflix#arcane lol#arcane show#arcane league of legends#like let us be fucking for real. i just started rewatching the show and all of the scenes with vander guiding vi are pissing me off so bad#esp in light of season 2. because i was mad!! i thought they fucked it up!! and they did!#but the fact of the matter is that arcane was never trying to say anything about classism. classism was just there#they propped up vander as THE RIGHT kind of zaunite and what was he??? complicit in and an assistant of Piltover's oppression of Zaun#according to arcane the more you strive for zaunite independence the more evil you are#you should be like vander instead and work nicely with cops! or be like vi and either become one or fuck one or both#who gives a shit that cait and vi could be gassing infants and killing terminally ill zaunites in their pursuit of jinx#who cares about the implications of using a gas that can and will spread even when used in controlled environments!!!!#theres no way a fucking gas could potentially affect anyone besides its intended targets!! no way for sure!!#even if the environment is open and accessible to the public and could leave behind residue!#if the zaunite is not supporting piltover then theyre not a person#thats why zaun only gets any positive recognition when theyre either helping piltover#like coming in to fight against noxus or ekko and his firelights sabotaging silco#ekko is the only zaunite allowed to be outright pissed at cait becuase hes quick to calm down#and also dont get me started on cait going 'this is all a misunderstanding' girl they KNOW how bad it is down there and they DONT CARE#THEY BENEFIT FROM THIS IT DOESNT MATTER HOW SHIT EVERYONE IS DOING AS LONG AS THEY BRING IN PROFIT

ik the civil war 'it always ends in a fight' line is like. really heavy bc of the amazing delivery (sebstan you’re great) but like. imagine it in a deadpan voice paired with an unimpressed look instead. steve fucking rogers who does not care to walk away from a fight irrespective of the likelihood of losing it just because its the right thing to do, who bucky has had to pick up out of an alley more times than anyone cares to admit, that same steve fucking rogers drops into buckys apartment and tells him that people are coming to arrest someone who hasn't done the thing they're accusing him of, and oh yeah, that person is steve's true north. but it won't end in a fight. sure.
#ik bucky is not in a place he’d be snarky to steve (yet) then#i also know steve’s holding out for actual public recognition of buckys non-responsibility here#but mmmm#stucky#bucky barnes

My dad and I were chatting before bed when he said "damn shame Republicans hate Democrats too much because you almost saved the United Healthcare ceo"
And I stared at him in confusion until I remembered I convinced Democrats to write the active shooter alert system bill in 2022 & Republicans said no. Since my Twitter is gone, the thread of me @ everyone is gone. And when Trump got re-elected, I removed the video discussing the bill concept for public comments. It fully slipped my mind because I went from pulling teeth & being reluctantly patient to full on cussing, cursing, and hexing the government by the end of 2023.
I hope that Twitter DC staffer is having a good laugh- I bet their bosses are pissed wwwwww
I don't remember the exact wording I wrote to the White House when I cussed out Biden for funding war crimes (2023) & the bill itself (2022) but I did list consequences I foresaw that are happening now, so suck to suck if nobody listened & are on the receiving end of massive hexes
I guess my dad is right, the GOP technically killed Brian Thompson in 2022
#mun post#the downside of being a death witch with foretelling and pattern recognition is nobody listens until it's too late#the fed collectively moving to shut down tiktok after i cussed them out was their biggest mistake with public relations so I already#hexed and cursed many of them - they should've never fucked with Death#168 Republicans killed Brian Thompson because nobody wanted to hesr me out except th3 handful who still are at DC trying to fix the mess#i wish them the small handful the best because being inside doesn't mean they can do major change when their bosses are for greed and wealt#over democracy and the well being of the masses#o7 active shooter alert system bill- you will be deeply missed#united healthcare#and since all the public comments and thread information are deleted- Congress is on their own to figure out what to do- I refuse to assist#unless they send me 100M and total protection from all military practice and weapons testing on the US public#my dad was like WTF YOU FORGOT#and i was like WELL TO BE FAIR WOULD YOU GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T HEWR YOU OUT#and he was like YOU KNOW WHAT? FAIR- THEY SHOULD'VE LISTENED TO YOU- NOW THEY GOT EVERY CEO ON THEIR DOORSTEP BEGGING FOR PROTECTION#like i hexed everyone complicit in genocide qnd democide with ironic death#the gods and the people get to decide how it plays out- the engraved bullets is sick af#i predicted the wealthy would get shot inevitably in the next 6 yrs- i never said how because that's not my jurisdiction#artemis and apollo only came into my life recently and have doubled down on what i can see and have seen- but Death is gearing up to topple#an empire again and I told people as early as summer 2019 bht nobody cared sooo

Did you just want me to draw art of them?
#they look cute. that's most of what I can say. ;;#I'd like to avoid only going halfway on these responses- it feels wrong of me to do that to a character that I'm sure is loveable#that said. for riddle.#I probably would've given similar if not the same response as I did for malleus#I only know them by recognition of their face#I don't have much thought on personality because I don't know them well I'm sorry#I don't know anything about ace attorney beyond jokes that reached the general public#Asks#Ask Mew#airsacae#pancake-moth#ace attorney#gyakuten saiban#pearl fey#twisted wonderland#riddle rosehearts

I don't believe in the devil so you probably can't sell your soul to him but I do believe that if you get famous enough that people start treating you like a two-dimensional character instead of a real human being you run the risk of getting trapped on the other side of the fourth wall and once that happens the narrative can Get You. which is basically the same as selling your soul for fame but who knows
#translation:#fame creates an incongruent combination of mass public recognition and alienating isolation that drives people to psychological limits#frequently resulting in a desperate attachment to one's own life story as a coping mechanism#which inevitably places one's sense of identity in the audience of that story rather than in the actual self#leading to extreme behavior patterns that are easily perceived as fiction-like and thus reinforces the cycle of fictionalization.#sometimes it is just a real curse tho.
