Importance, Significance, And Rituals Of Devutthana Ekadashi
Devutthana Ekadashi, also known as Prabodhini Ekadashi, is one of the most important Ekadashi in Hindu culture. Indulge in puja shopping online for this pious occasion.
Tumblr media
One significant Ekadashi vrat performed by Hindus is Prabodhini Ekadashi, also known as Kartiki Ekadashi. This day, also known as Dev Uthani Ekadashi, falls on the auspicious Shukla Paksha (the waxing phase of the moon) Ekadashi tithi in the traditional Hindu month of Kartik. It occurs between October and November. Devotees keep fast on this day and offer their prayers to Lord Vishnu with premium puja samagri.
Dates and Times for Devutthana Ekadashi in 2022
Devutthana Ekadashi: November 4, 2022, on Friday
Parana Time: From 06:47 to 09:01 on November 5, 2022
End of Parana Day Dwadashi: 05:06 pm
Start of Ekadashi Tithi: November 3, 2022, 7:30 p.m.
End of Ekadashi Tithi: November 4, 2022, at 06:08.
Prabodhani Ekadashi's significance
Lord Brahma initially told Narada the story of Prabodhini Ekadashi. The explanation for this story in the Skanda Purana is clear. Lord Brahma initially told Narada the story of Prabodhini Ekadashi. The Skanda Purana provides a thorough explanation of this narrative.
However, this Ekadashi is particularly important to Hindus because it heralds the start of auspicious celebrations like weddings, Grah Pravesh, and other events. Additionally, it is believed that by doing Vishnu Puja on Prabodhini Ekadashi, worshippers can achieve salvation, or "moksha," and enter "Vaikunth," immediately after death.
Observances on Prabodhini Ekadashi:
On Prabodhini Ekadashi, worshippers bathe in revered rivers or bodies of water.
The devotees who observe this vrat rise before dawn. After taking a bath, they go without food or water for the entire day.
The vrat observer visits the temples of Lord Vishnu in the evening and takes part in the puja ceremonies performed there.
A drawing of Lord Vishnu is painted on the site of worship on the day of Dev Utthana Ekadashi. They opt for puja samagri online shopping to purchase all essential puja items from online puja stores.
Fruits and vegetables are used to honour Lord Vishnu. Additionally, devotees design images of God on a Pounder (Okhli) and fill them with seasonal fruit, sugarcane, jujube, sweets, and water chestnut (Singhara).
Then, devotees pray to their lord with puja items online to awaken from his nap and bestow blessings on everyone while singing bhakti songs or bhajans.
Then, while chanting "Utho Deva, Batho Deva, Aanguria Chatkao Deva, Nayi Soot, Nayi Kapas, Deva Uthaye Kartik Masa," devotees blast the Shankha.
It also signals the start of the sugarcane harvest. The farmer conducts a puja in the field, cuts sugarcane ceremonially, distributes five canes to a Brahmin (priest), a blacksmith, a carpenter, a washer-man, and a water carrier, and keeps five canes for himself.
To awaken Lord Vishnu, you can also chant the Devutthana Ekadashi Mantra.
“Uttishtha Govinda Tyaaj Nidran Jagatpataye.
 Utthite Cheshtate Sarvamuttishtottishtha Madhav.
Shardani Cha Pushpani Grihan Mum Keshav.”
The Swaminarayan sect regards Prabodhini Ekadashi as a significant Ekadashi. The day honours Swaminarayan's master Ramanand Swami's Diksha or religious initiation. The day also honoured Swaminarayan's transfer of power from Ramanand Swami on November 16, 1801. As a result, Swaminarayan devotees conduct a waterless fast and present the gods with fresh vegetables.
Conclusion
Additionally, get all the necessary premium puja kits, spiritual frame, and puja thali items from PujaShoppe so that you may celebrate all the holy festivals religiously.

Ganesh Chaturthi Puja Guide: How to Celebrate with Devotion and Tradition
Tumblr media
Ganesh Chaturthi, one of the most widely celebrated festivals in India, marks the birth of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed god of wisdom, prosperity, and new beginnings. This festival brings families and communities together to welcome Lord Ganesha into their homes and hearts with great devotion. Here's a comprehensive guide to performing Ganesh Chaturthi Puja, ensuring you honor the tradition while invoking the blessings of the deity.
Preparation for Ganesh Chaturthi 2024
1. Selecting the Idol:
The first step is choosing a suitable idol of Lord Ganesha. Traditionally, the idol is made of clay or eco-friendly materials. Opt for an idol that resonates with your devotion. It’s also essential to consider the size of the idol based on the space where the puja will be performed.
2. Setting Up the Puja Area:
Cleanliness is crucial in setting up the puja area. Choose a clean, sacred spot in your home, preferably facing east or west. Place a clean cloth or a wooden platform as the base. Decorate the area with flowers, rangoli, and lights, creating a festive ambiance.
3. Gathering Puja Essentials:
Before the puja begins, ensure you have all the necessary items like turmeric, kumkum, sandalwood paste, betel leaves, betel nuts, coconut, fruits, sweets (especially modaks, which are Lord Ganesha's favorite), incense sticks, diya (lamp), and flowers. Aarti thali and a small bowl of water are also essential for the rituals.
Ganesh Chaturthi Puja Guide
1. Pranapratishtha:
This is the most significant part of the Ganesh Chaturthi puja, where life is invoked into the idol of Lord Ganesha. The priest or the head of the family performs this ritual by chanting specific mantras and offering flowers, turmeric, and rice grains (akshat) to the idol. The belief is that Lord Ganesha descends into the idol to bless his devotees.
2. Shodashopachara:
After Pranapratishtha, the deity is worshipped with 16 forms of offerings known as Shodashopachara. These offerings include water for bathing the deity (Abhishek), fresh clothes, sandalwood paste, flowers, incense, light (Aarti), and naivedyam (food offerings, including modaks). Each offering is accompanied by specific chants and prayers.
3. Ganesh Aarti:
The Aarti is the most vibrant part of the puja, where devotees sing the praises of Lord Ganesha while rotating the Aarti thali in front of the idol. The Aarti, which is usually performed twice a day (morning and evening), is accompanied by the sound of bells, claps, and conch shells, creating a divine atmosphere.
4. Prasad Distribution:
Once the Aarti is completed, the prasad (sweets and fruits offered to the deity) is distributed among family members and guests. Sharing the prasad symbolizes sharing the blessings of Lord Ganesha.
5. Visarjan:
The conclusion of Ganesh Chaturthi is marked by Visarjan, where the idol of Lord Ganesha is immersed in water, symbolizing his return to Mount Kailash. The Visarjan can be done on the same day or after a specific number of days, depending on family traditions. During the Visarjan procession, devotees chant “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya,” asking Lord Ganesha to return soon next year.
Significance of Ganesh Chaturthi
Ganesh Chaturthi is not just a religious festival but a cultural celebration that fosters unity, joy, and devotion. It’s a time when people come together to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha for wisdom, prosperity, and the removal of obstacles. The festival also promotes the values of eco-friendliness, with an increasing emphasis on using biodegradable materials for the Ganesha idol and puja items.

Mythological Origin:
The offering black sesame seeds to shivling originates from Hindu mythology. According to ancient texts and legends, lord Shiva, the supreme god of destruction and change, is often depicted with an ornate garland of black sesame seeds around his neck. Rich in essential nutrients, antioxidants and beneficial oils, these seeds promote overall health and well-being. In the context of religious rituals, the offering of black sesame seeds is considered a purification that cleanses the body, mind and soul of impurities and negative energies.
Associated Rituals and Practices:
Offering black sesame seeds to Lord Shiva often involves certain rituals and practices. Devotees may chant sacred mantras, perform abhishekam (ritual bath) or pray as part of the worship. Chhath Puja- The Divine Celebration Of Faith And Spirituality
Just like any other festival, Chhath Puja brings happiness into our lives. This pious celebration encompasses faith and devotion. Let’s know more about Chhath Puja.
Tumblr media
The day of Chhath Puja begins exactly like any other pooja day when we bring home puja thali items. While we know the general rituals of Chhath Pooja, this article mainly focuses on detail. So, if you are an enthusiast, we recommend you read till the end.
Chhath Puja Festivity Rituals Of Each Day
Day 1
The first day is popularly known as Nahay Khay which is the day of body purification. Parvaitin begins the devotion by taking a bath in holy water. After purifying the body and soul, they cook bottled gourd as well as rice along with split chickpeas. One can only use ghee and rock salt here. Furthermore, they can break their fast after eating this food.
Day 2
Being the second day of the joyous celebration, Kharna is the day of fasting the whole day. However, Parvatin can consume food only after sunset. Cooking prasad and taking immense care of it, is important. Moreover, for the preparation of prasad, one must only choose organic ingredients. People helping the worshipper for preparing prasad have to bathe and clean themselves. After sunset, the Parvaitin offers prasad to Chhath Maiyya.
Day 3
On Arghya day, the parvatin prepares special cookies called Thekua. This amazing Prasad has wheat flour, jaggery, ghee, and sugar in it. Additionally, rice laddoos, or “Kasaar” is made up of jaggery, ghee, and rice flour. In the evening, the Parvatin goes to the riverbank and offers Arghya to the evening sun. On this day, Parvatin performs parikrama by taking soop and other premium puja samagri in their hand. All rituals should be done facing the Sun.
Day 4
Finally, this day marks the end of the Chhath festival. On this day, Parvatin offers Arghya to the rising Sun. On this day, worshippers seek blessings for more richness as well as prosperity. Further, they distribute thekua and other prasad to poor people.
The main prasad of Chhath Puja includes two rice puddings along with ghee and pure milk. One rice pudding has jaggery while the other does not. Consuming Prasad and distributing it among all family members is highly auspicious. During the fast, the Parvatin has to take care of a lot of things. For instance, they can only sleep on the floor and their mind must be free from all distractions.

Explain the basic: Offerings
Desclaimer: Everything I will talk about is information that I got from books and sites online and even videos on YouTube. In my years of practice, I learned as much as I could out of curiosity and what works best for me. I suggest you do the same by learning as much as you can on your own (I will be here making posts teaching this kind of stuff) from multiple sources.
Offering to deities and entities in general is a practice found in many cultures and religions around the world. Every deity or entity that you make an offering for has its own symbol. For example, Apollo is the god of the sun; music, art, and poetry; writing something or singing for him can be offerings.
Tumblr media
There are many religions that take on the act of offering as a sign of respect and devotion to that specific religion. Here are some examples:
Hinduism: Offerings (puja) often include fruits, flowers, incense, and food, placed before images of deities in temples or home altars.
Buddhism: Offerings may include candles, incense, flowers, and food, placed before statues of the Buddha and bodhisattvas.
Christianity: Candles, bread, and wine are common offerings, especially in the context of the Eucharist.
Shinto: Offerings of rice, sake, and other food items are made at shrines to honor kami (spirits or gods).
Paganism and Wicca: Offerings might include seasonal fruits, flowers, wine, and personal tokens, placed on altars dedicated to specific deities or nature spirits.
All these religions have common practices that we can see and see over time; all of those are not rules but more something you can do or not do. (Especially because no one has the same opportunities.)
Altars: A dedicated space where offerings are made. This can be a simple shelf at home or an elaborate structure in a temple.
Purity: Many traditions emphasize the importance of purity in the offerings, meaning they should be clean and handled with respect.
Timing: Offerings are often made at specific times, such as during festivals, holy days, or particular phases of the moon.
Intention: The mindset and intention behind the offering are crucial. It should be given with respect, devotion, and a pure heart.
Tumblr media
These offerings can take various forms, each carrying its own significance and purpose. Here's an overview of the different types of offerings and the common practices associated with them:
Types of Offerings
Food and Drink:
Fruits, grains, and vegetables: Often used in offerings to symbolize abundance and gratitude.
Cooked meals: Specific dishes that are favored by the deity or entity.
Drinks: This can include water, wine, milk, or other beverages. In some traditions, alcoholic drinks like mead or sake are common.
Sweets and desserts: Cakes, candies, or other sweet treats, especially those that are traditional or culturally significant.
Flowers and Plants:
Fresh flowers: Often chosen for their beauty and fragrance. Certain flowers are associated with specific deities.
Herbs:: Sacred or medicinal herbs may be offered for their symbolic properties.
Incense and Aromatics:
incense: Burned to create a fragrant smoke that is believed to please the deities.
Essential oils: Used for anointing or in diffusers to create a sacred atmosphere.
Candles and Lights:
Candles: Lit to symbolize light, purity, and the presence of the divine.
Oil lamps: Used in many traditions, often with ghee or olive oil.
Objects and Symbols:
Statues or images: Placed on altars as representations of the deity or entity.
Jewelry or precious items: Offered as a sign of respect and devotion.
Money and Valuables:
Coins or currency: Offered in temples or shrines, sometimes used to support the upkeep of the place of worship.
Jewelry or precious items: Given as a form of sacrifice or in seeking favor.
Actions and Devotions:
Prayers and chants: Recited to honor the deity or entity.
Songs and music: Played or sung as a form of praise.
Dance: Performed in some cultures as an offering of movement and energy.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
Offering to deities and entities is a deeply personal and culturally rich practice. It serves as a way to connect with the divine, show gratitude, seek blessings, and maintain a reciprocal relationship with the spiritual world. The specific items and practices may vary, but the underlying principles of respect, devotion, and intention remain consistent across different traditions.
