Well said! I think of examples like King Richard 🎾🥎

and Chris Gardner (Pursuit of Happyness' speech at the fence about protecting your dreams)

Aside from that fact that both movies portray a real person that have been wonderfully encapsulated by a talented method actor called Will Smith,
It shows how the fathers passed on their idealism, determination and courage to their children.
Even without being rich or successful in the eyes of society, they spoke with conviction of their goals and encouraged their offspring to chase what was theirs relentlessly.
These scenes in which passionate dialogue with guidance for the young are also teching moments for the audience. People from all places and all kinds of family situations get to hear paternal advice. Some may havy been fortunate enough in their live to hear similarities between the actor and their own guardians' advice. Other people have found a surrogate father because they have never been with a kind and caring father figure that sees them as they are and wants them to prosper in the real world outside of the family home.
It reminds me how popular the character Iroh has gotten from Avatar: The Last Airbender. While being the brother of a cold man that deliberately burned his son's face for the sake of tesching him a lesson, he exudes warmth, compassion and patience for his nephew. Its worth noting that Iroh is the older brother and has a past of ruthless conqueror and Army General, but the loss of his own son (fallen soldier) made him leave the army behind and reevaluate his life philosophy. His wisdom comes from pain, grief, regret and the will to be a better man and kinder human. Also Zuko is the replacement for the son he lost, so in a wqy Zuko is his second chance. I assume Uncle Iroh tolerates Zuko's immature frustrations with him, as he understands him being socialized in the militaristic Fire Nation and sees his old self in Zuko's foolish ambitions and search for identity. It could also be atonement for the sins of his previous life. All that shoes how layered and complex the humour and good-natured appearance of Iroh is, who was introduced as charming but sensous character before the 3rd season shows us his fighting prowess. So while the viewers only learn this information about his loss and grief later, the prince Zuko knows this for years but fails to take this into account when he, frustrated and blinded by his desire for recognition in the Fire Nation, he bluntly insulted his uncle, abandoned him twice, the first one being brief in duration and the second time being a betrayal and return to the Royal Palace of the Fire Nation.

Forgiveness is a virtue. The sentence by Iroh "I never was angry with you, only sad that you had lost your way." sends chills, is a tear-jerker and exemplifies the undying love and concern for the well-being of one's children.
Tumblr media
The fandom has realized this, having been guided and comforted by Iroh alongside Zuko, and refers to him as Uncle Iroh, uncle being used as term of endearment in this case, showing that he is indeed a surrogate parent to us all.

You know what makes me really fucking happy?
Just humans being humans.
Like I’ll be walking down the street and I’ll see a little kid doing the lik toddler run with that lil belly laugh and there dad just walking behind them casually with a soft smile cos the kid isn’t really running that fast. Or that one girl in the caffe slurping her ramen noodles as the steel curls up and touched her face softly.
Or historical records of just. people being people. Like a drawing from 1732 of a chicken in pants. Or at historical sights and there’s names of thousands of people from thousands of years ago that says shit like “Dave was here - 1862” and I just.
Yes.
Or like. Someone just soaking up the afternoon as it hits there face. That old couple round the block who go on annual Tusday walks with there dogs, one in a stroller and the other in ones arms so neither dog gets a walk but they (both oldies and doggo’s) sure are having fun.
HUMANS BEING HUMANS.

Another complicate-your-own-life-drag-someone-else-and-call-yourself-a-hero movie dropped and everyone is in awe. Still though, so far Arrival is my top tier of fucked up. Knowing a person will suffer from an incurable illness and die and still go on with giving birth to them? Hell why the fuck not, after all I get to cHeRiSh EvErY mOMenT Of iT, which is so deep, right? Man what a world

I know we’re supposed to root for the guy and his success story in The Pursuit of Happyness, but his wife was working double shifts for four months?  For months?  While raising a kid, and presumably doing housework, stressing about money because rent was three months late.
He’s not bringing any money in, calls her last minute in-between shifts to go get her kid, because he wanted to do something else.  Then he talking about taking an unpaid internship for months, which probability wise shouldn’t even land him a job?  He lost their life savings? Poor woman.

"You got a dream...
