Why did Apollo favor the trojans in the Illiad?
So, dear Anon, I've been thinking about how to answer this question since I got it a couple days ago and I think I kind of want to make something clear before I get into it.
The Iliad by itself as a poem only covers some of the events that occur in the final year of a long protracted conflict that had been brewing for at least two decades and was an active war for ten. Within the space of the Iliad itself, the motivations and affairs of the major players are often referenced but there are many, many parts of the story that are not there because they belong to a different story cycle that has been since lost or was never recorded with words. In the space of the Iliad Apollo's motivations are questioned a lot - his pride is questioned by Poseidon who thinks Apollo should be just as angry at the Trojans as he considering Apollo was treated equally as poorly by Laomedon while they worked together. His honour is questioned by Hera who chastises him for taking the Trojans' side when he'd proclaimed that Achilles would live a long life and prosper at Thetis and Peleus' wedding. His own sister calls him a coward for refusing to fight when Zeus gives permission for the gods to go wild on the battlefield. For all that there's this image of Apollo in the Iliad as some staunch and unwavering protector of the Trojans, believe it or not, I largely think of Apollo as neutral in the war.
Which, I suppose, comes back to the question - why did Apollo favour the Trojans? The truthful answer is that I don't know. The Iliad and all its connected stories isn't something I've done enough research on to have an answer or a reference to an answer off the top of my head. The reasoning I'm aware of is that Apollo was a Patron God of Troy and really a god doesn't need any reason besides that to protect his people but it's not like Apollo abandoned the Greeks either. Calchas is the biggest example of that I can point to - descended directly from a priest of Apollo and one who attributed his mantic power to the god, Calchas was pivotal in ensuring the Greeks even got to Troy in the first place.
From a personal perspective however, I think Apollo was more dedicated to the house of Priam than he was the city of Troy itself. Apollo's affection for that house and all its members ran deep - from his admiration of Hecuba and Hector to his love and attempted courtship of Cassandra to his blessings given to Helenus, Deiphobos, Cassandra, Troilus and even his partnership with Paris - Apollo loved the house of Priam. When you think about the times Apollo lashes out against the Greeks, it's generally because they've done some nonsense to earn his ire. The plague was caused by Agamemnon disrespecting his priest, his aid in the slaughter of Patroclus was because he didn't respect him, his minor grudge against Diomedes too was because he tried to test Apollo's mettle and well, the less said about Achilles the better. Apart from his obvious favouring of Hector in the skirmishes, Apollo doesn't really oppose the Greeks. He has a ton of reasons to by the time the Iliad rolls around, including avenging the death of two of his sons, but he remains mostly satisfied with conducting his father's business and overseeing the war from a somewhat professional perspective. To me, it's always been less about Apollo caring about the fate of Troy as a city itself and more about him just really wanting to protect the people in the city that he's come to love and respect.
Of course, I encourage you to take my words with a big tablespoon of salt - like I said, I don't really know enough about the facts in particular to give a solid, confident answer but I can give you my interpretation of it. Maybe consult someone like @littlesparklight for a more comprehensive and grounded response 🤔

I put free on in the car because I was thinking about Bucky but I'd never listened to it outside of your video and was confused that it's a little different. Is there another version you used?
hi i meant to reply to this yesterday sorry! under the cut bc i wrote a long answer oops
no it's the regular version but i chopped it up a bit for my purposes. i always want to be concise with my videos and only use the parts of the song i need; i never want to just fill a verse or chorus with footage that's not actually adding anything to my message just for the sake of using the whole song (obviously it's different when the length and Build-Up of a song are part of the point/arc of the video like in my somebody to love and bat out of hell videos).
for free, i cut the second chorus ("i hear the music...") entirely because i wanted it to only appear once and be the centerpiece of the video (the dancing section).
i moved the second refrain ("picks me up, puts me down") to the end of the song so that i could put it after the lines "but there is nothing else that i know how to do / but to open up my arms and give it all to you" to make it the culmination of the gale-specific section of the song and an echo of the first time we hear the refrain (first time: about the war, second time: about gale). i also added an extra "picks me up" to the end of that so the song still ends on a high note. :)
i also trimmed a single line from the second verse ("i said okay, but let's discuss this at the hospital") because i didn't think it fit lol, and it made it easier to cut that verse directly to the first chorus after i moved that second refrain. and then, last but not least, i shortened the instrumental intro and outro to just a couple measures because i wanted to get right into the action, which felt right for bucky. plus i had already decided not to use any dialogue in the video so i didn't need any extra instrumental space for that.
so basically yes it's the same version, i just frankenstein-ed it a little (a lot) to realize my Vision and create the arc i wanted for bucky! normally i don't chop up a song that dramatically (i'll often trim songs, but don't usually move sections around like that) but it felt important and i followed my heart hahaha
that was a lot of text, but here is a visual diagram of the changes i made, my final draft from back when i was editing it (my previous versions had a LOT more scribbles on them lol):

hanzashiro rambles
thinking about hanzawa and tashiro again and their pingpong-esque relationship, how tashiro will say the craziest things to him (that no one else will dare to say) and hanzawa just hits him back with the same attack formation. they're both always on the offensive just like in pingpong and i love that about them, they both just hit each other with stuff and keep going with it. equals of their own right, like kghr. tashiro trying to bridge that gap between them and beat him at pingpong until hanzawa's...gone now, graduated. did the gap then disappear?
thinking about hirano laughing uproariously at just kagi eating his cookie so eagerly "Hahaha, I s-see!" and hanzawa killing himself laughing at just tashiro's favourite subject being gym "PFFFT…PFFT-ppppfft…I-I see…" there's something there too
hanzawa's roommate's name rhyming with tashiro is funny to me too like, im sure it's nothing, but consider if it's not
hanzawa staring daggers down at a head-bowed tashiro in the pizza extra as a seated kuresawa stares hard at tashiro....flashing forward to the guidebook extra where tashiro talks about the post-sempai loneliness as kuresawa pushes his white lensed glasses up in his classic i-know-something-secret style... i'm sorry, that extra honestly deserves its own separate ramble but jeez the hanzashiro is so so so heavy, the chapter starting with a hanzawa who transitions into tashiro-esque whiny (lovingly) and then curiously after, opens up into tashiro's viewpoint, also lamenting not being yelled at anymore, he must lowkey enjoy that on some level... not even to mention the exact same wide eyed look shared at them both on separate pages, in separate directions, one realizing his attachment while the other realizes his separation
and since im rambling in every direction i also just remembered miyano mentioning in his grad voice msg that hanzawa had brought up his own love life with him????????????? and it sounded like he barely said much because miyano remained VERY INTERESTED to hear more. insanity. csf leaking everywhere. wdym he talked to you about his love life. no one else.
lastly. about guidebook extra tashiro: "It's gonna be just a little lonely...when the sempai are gone." so yknow how rn in kghr, Hirano is starting off where kagi was in like vol1 chp 1(?) with his romantic development, like when Hirano was in the stands at kagi's bball game and kagi found him and smiled super wide, and then the same thing but reverse happened in chp 24, showing his romantic development is literally starting from the very beginning like when kagi's did and took the time to fully blossom (that was all @burrythebusy 's bigbrain) WELL HEAR ME OUT BUT this is tashiro's ground zero. him and hanzawa were both shown, closeup might I add, to be starting to miss everyone/everything too, very interesting that those two characters in specific were shown closer-up by sensei. I think the end of highschool is ground zero for them, for their connection growing further and sensei beginning to write/show more about them and their development. gap is gone baybeee

Anyways, I think it's a common misconception that Infinite simps for Ian Jr, but Ian Jr would never reciprocate feelings
What if the feelings are mutual but each of them thinks the other does not feel the same
Like Infinite thinks Ian Jr is cool, and that he can see right through his attempts to be cool and edgy (even if he also simultaneously thinks he is how he tries to be). He wants to please Ian Jr so he can win him over, or at the very least so Ian Jr will keep him around. Pathetic Jackal trying to impress his crush and make his crush see him as super cool and great, but also afraid that his crush can see through him and will notice every slip up or mistake. Doesn't think Ian jr feels the same but wants to make it happen by just being so appealing
And what's funny is that Ian Jr *does* see right through him. He can see that Infinite is pathetic and cringe. He *does* notice when Infinite slips up and fails. Except that's what Ian Jr likes about him. Does this make sense? Someone would be like "Infinite is cringe!" and Ian Jr would counter with "I know! It's what makes him appealing!" Or at the very least he knows and doesn't care. But even though that Ian Jr can see Infinite's attempts to look cool in front of him and what would be Infinite's attempts to woo him, it does not occur to Ian Jr that Infinite likes him romantically.
Ian Jr looked for Infinite after he "went missing" (I have not played forces. I heard Infinite got trapped in the phantom ruby or something? Idk I'm thinking from a specific comic I'm pretty sure Ian made), but Infinite doesn't know this. Infinite isn't just acting the way he does because he wants to prove himself better than Shadow, but also because he frankly wants to make Ian Jr swoon (and be considered cool by the mobian he thinks is just so incredibly cool), and Ian Jr doesn't know this.
This could be solved if they just talked about it, but they won't!😂
Because Infinite is dedicated to his plan of winning over Ian Jr without having to reveal himself (basically getting Ian Jr to confess and choose him)
And Ian Jr believes Infinite doesn't feel that way and is just glad Infinite is around and alive at least, so he doesn’t see any reason to talk about anything
Idiots idiots someone should force them to kiss
It wouldn't fix this, but it would be funny
