It's what would happen if me and Angeal got FF-to-KH-ified a la Cloud + everyone else.
And it would absolutely start with me and Angeal being together already, but then I meet Terra. And he's really cute and handsome and sweet and we fall in love and I'm like "You need to meet Angeal."
And Terra's like "I know, you just make him sound so intimidating." "He's nice, I promise."
And then when I finally DO take Terra home to meet Angeal, he sees this 6'5" beefy supersoldier with the most solid jawline he's ever seen and all his fear goes out the window and immediately turns into
Tumblr media
And Angeal thinks he's just so cute that he gives him a smirk and says something along the lines of "Looks like I'm just destined to be surrounded by puppy boys."
And Terra loses his gay little mind.
Thanks in no small part to Owen indulging me for ahem reasons, I'm now offering you all a concept whether you like it or not.
Kingdom Hearts AU Angeal and Adriel ship

had the dumbest idea for an au where all of the Magic Mountain crew are a different type of magic-user
going with a d&d-based setup, since that's the quickest way to get seven distinct kinds of mages, and also I like picking subclasses
only drew Grian and Gem for now bc I'm lazy, but featuring:
-Grian as an Aberrant Mind sorcerer (who taught him fireball why would you teach him fireball)
-Gem as a Fathomless warlock
and the others would be:
-Scar as a druid (has a bad habit of flying directly into a window in wildshape form, and popping back into his regular form with a comedically loud thud)
-Joel as a Fey Wanderer ranger (the fey in question is of course Lizzie)
-Mumbo as a wizard (I don't have anything beyond this yet, but just, *gestures to the entire man*)
-Impulse as an Armorer artificer (I went back and forth a bit on options for Impulse, but "bonded to a suit of magical armour with cool mods" seemed like the best fit for his cyberpunk thing this season)
-Skizz as a bard (that man was made for Bardic Inspiration)

Please give a crash course on everything F1 because I’m so curious and I want to understand your posts but the full extent of my knowledge is that the “F” stands for Formula.
I am so sorry that it took me so long to reply
(love the crash course pun, I'm always happy to infodump about f1)
F1 is a motor racing series. It's the highest class for international open wheel single seater racing, and it's governed by the FIA (you'll find out that I don't like the FIA very much. I think its corrupt).
In f1, there are 10 teams with two drivers each. Each team tries to build the fastest car within a set of regulations. Said cars are marvels of engineering.
Teams and drivers 2025:
Red Bull
Engines: Honda RBPT
Race drivers:
Max Verstappen: Career number: 33 Country: Netherlands
Liam Lawson: Career number: 30 Country: New Zealand
Mercedes
Engines: Mercedes
Race drivers:
George Russell: Career number: 63 Country: United Kingdom
Andrea Kimi Antonelli: Career number: 12 Country: Italy
Other drivers: Valtteri Bottas (Third)
Ferrari
Engines: Ferrari
Race drivers:
Charles Leclerc: Career number: 16 Country: Monaco
Lewis Hamilton (omg it's happening): Career number: 44 Country: United Kingdom
McLaren
Engines: Mercedes
Race drivers:
Lando Norris: Career number: 4 Country: United Kingdom
Oscar Piastri: Career number: 81 Country: Australia
Aston Martin

Fernando Alonso: Career number: 14 Country: Spain
Lance Stroll: Career number: 18 Country: Canada
Alpine

Esteban Ocon (❤️): Career number: 31 Country: France
There are two championships, the wdc, won by individual drivers, and the wcc, won by the team. Championship points are accumulated by finishing high in grand prix races. Points are awarded to top 10 finishers:
Tumblr media
The typical layout of a grand prix weekend is this:
Friday:
Fp1 (stands for final practice one. It's for experimenting with setups, tires and strategies)
Fp2
Saturday:
Fp3 (after this cars are in parc ferme. You cannot change the setup of the car in parc ferme)
qualifying:
Q1 (first stage of qualifying. The five drivers with the slowest lap times around the circuit are eliminated)
Q2 (the next 5 slowest drivera are eliminated)
Q3 (shootout for pole position, which is the number one spot on the starting grid)
sunday:
Grand prix time baby! (The main race. The starting order is that as determined by qualifying+ penalties. Points are awarded to the top 10 finishers and tire compound must be changed at least once)
Sprint weekend:
Friday:
fp1
sprint qualifying (qualifying for the sprint race)
Saturday:
sprint race (shortened race. Points awarded to top 8 finishers. No obligation to change tires)
Regular qualifying
Sunday:
grand prix
Tires:
Tires in f1 are provided by pirelli. There are 5 dry compounds:
Tumblr media
the C1 is the hardest compound, best for long runs as it's long lasting but comparatively slow. The C5 is the softest, best for qualifying as it's fast but degrades quickly
There are 3 of these compounds used per weekend. The quickest are the sofas, the slowest are the hards and the balanced options are the mediums.
Wet weather tires:
Wet tires have a blue stripe and are rarely used as they are for extreme wet weather that normally warrants a safety car
Intermediate tyres are commonly used for wet races. They are theoretically between slick tyres (dry weather tyres) and full wets
flags in f1:
Tumblr media
(ATP I'm too tired to give my own explanations for the flags, so have this cool infographic)
Virtual safety car: all cars must reduce their speed by 30%
Safety car: all cars must follow the safety car. There will be no overtaking
Stats:
link to a Wikipedia list of driver records
Link to a Wikipedia list of constructor records
Random Drama and funny stuff that happened in f1 that I will be referring to:
The Monaco curse was basically Charles Leclerc being utterly unsuccessful and unlucky at his home race. Broken in 2024. (Yk what I'm going to do with this)
Ferrari strategy is a joke based on Ferrari screwing up their strategy all the time in 2022
The underwear and earrings thing aka the FIA being stupid incidents are the FIA deciding they are a strict secondary school and creating regulations on underwear and jewellery
Brocedes aka the silver war is a homoerotic teenage friendship going wrong in a dramatic intra team rivalry. Occurred in 2016.
The briefcase incident where Gerahd Berger threw Ayrton Senna's briefcase out of a helicopter because he was bragging about it being practically indestructible
Berger putting 99 frogs in Senna's hotel room because he knew Senna would spend all night looking for the 100th. His response? Did you find the snake.
Seb Vettel and his finger
Seb Vettel and his bees
Vettel giving Hamilton's hotel room number to some grid girls
Roscoe and Leo interactions!! (Roscoe is Hamilton's dog and Leo is Leclerc's- some real Argos potential here)
Sergio Perez stealing Roscoe as an April fools joke
Penelope (not that Penelope- I mean Max Verstappen's niece) turning up on Verstappen's streams
Seb Vettel being a nerd and listing all the championship winners since the beginning of F1.
Papaya rules is basically McLaren giving their drivers as fair treatment as possible and it costing them in the wdc (epic fans- don't you see the vision?)
Esteban Ocon and Lewis Hamilton racing remote control cars
This is Hamilton's first time year at Ferrari in pursuit of the 8th wdc
This one is serious- Abu Dhabi 2021 is an incident where Lewis Hamilton was cheated out of a record breaking 8th world championship because the race director decided to invent some new rules
Good articles for learning more about F1:
what is f1
begginers guide to f1
f1 rules and regulations
f1 for beginners (video)
thats it ig bai bai
-Aikya
@eve-will-perceive is there anything important that I missed? This was completely off the top of my head (can u pls add more random drama I'm too tired to think of an more)

pendragon showdown: who would've won?
tl;dr:
real pendragon showdown result: love wins (very briefly)
hypothetical pendragon showdown result: eeeh. probably guinevere
so. my reasoning! here's things we know (/i remember) about every pendragon:
arthur
gun: one revolver. it's the x.caliber, but that alone probably doesn't have much over other guns. he takes it from nimue & later murders sheriff stone with it. i'm assuming taking camelot was the intended Special Purpose & the reason arthur is so attached to it. (he's "more gentle with [it] than he ever is with [lancelot]". i love that line. fucking comedian.) this is also implied by merlin in the stories, thank you merlin.
in short, let us assume the gun is not special in any mechanical way. the rest of what it does in the story is Not shoot guinevere or lancelot, and then presumably melt under The Concentrated Power Of The Sun. unless morderd put it in the capsule with arthur. in which case, it probably froze under The Concentrated Power Of The Vacuum Of Space.
speed: safely in the middle. he's the last one to shoot in the gunfight at the dolorous guard ("finally, there's arthur"), but we can probably assume it's because of song reasons, and maybe all the staring he and stone were doing at each other. it's given that he's slower than gwen, and it's also said he "could beat [lancelot] on speed", so. middle.
guinevere
gun: a very fast one, presumably. lol. probably also a revolver? (personal hc is she uses two revolvers, but that's beside the point.) so let's assume sixshooter! functionally her setup is the same as arthur's.
speed: basically her main character trait. she's faster than both arthur and lancelot.
lancelot
gun: he shoots rifled slugs, so safe to say he's using a rifle.
speed: reasonably the slowest shot re: the other two. depending on what kind of rifle he's using, he might need to reload, but since he lays out like 4 stones in a couple lines of the gunfight and doesn't get shot by the rest in the time it takes, i'm guessing he's got something that shoots multiple without reload.
to be entirely fair, it's possible - and probably more practical - that he has a sidepiece and that's what he's using when he's in close-range. this is also probably the only instance in which he'd pose any threat to guinevere & arthur. but since we only get mention of slugs and arthur draws faster than him in close-range too (re: above), let's just assume rifle, and he's mad fast with the aim or whatever.
hypotheticals!
almost immediately we can conclude that arthur is fucked, on account of guinevere is going to go for him first. shooting lancelot, who's slower, would not be a smart choice. that's really it. if she shot lancelot first, she'd just be making it easier on arthur on both the 'shooting her' and the 'any conflict he may have about killing his spouses' fronts.
if they all decide to draw simultaneously - which is what i'm presuming here, because which one of them might commit to killing the others first is a different question - then guinevere is inevitably starting the ordeal, and doubtless the survivor is going to have an easier justification of why he shot her. again, seems like shooting arthur is the better move here.
now the events past that mostly really depend on what you think, so i'm just putting forth my thoughts. we can ask here if gwen can shoot two people before lancelot shoots one. if we decide yes, then it's gwen's victory from the beginning and the squabble was a bit pointless. but there's something to be said for it in dolorous guard, where when she first draws, she kills two people in rapid succession ("guinevere draws quickest/her shots are clean and sure/and ezra and ezekiel lie bloodied on the floor") still, for the sake of going further, let's say she can only reliably shoot one.
by the time that's done, lancelot's probably over any inhibitions and is fixing to shoot gwen. this again depends on a couple of things - how quick we think he can be, where's he grabbing his gun from, what gun he's grabbing:
if this is a sidepiece - revolver or whatever - then, yeah, he can probably nail gwen while she's shooting arthur and win that way. lancelot's victory.
if this is a rifle, as we assumed before, i really don't think he'll get it up before gwen lays him out. i can't imagine his accuracy would do him much good in this one - sure, a slug will be nasty close-range and they'd have to close someone's casket, but it won't help speed. lancelot is the slowest out the three of them, and judging by his gun (and the sharpest aim, to a point), he's a marksman. he brought a rifle to a cowboy standoff in dolorous guard. gwen can probably kill him before he can be a threat.
that being said, it's really hard to be definitive. they're all playing mind games with each other, and they know each other way too well to surprise anyone, and that could lead to surprises on its own.
i'd give victory to gwen simply because of how much her speed and ferociousness is stressed in the album - she's the one urging them on, plowing ahead, always first, never hesitating. she shoots a woman in the head four times presumably as an example. when arthur reminisces about his dreams of a better world she literally tells him to stop whining. which is incredibly funny, but it's also very vivid. she does what she has to do, and sometimes she does more, because her hand is fate, her word is law, and you will fear her. if she didn't love as passionately as she fought, i think she might've ended up the captain. a very lonely captain, but you know.
anyway, those are my thoughts. share yours! i'm sure there are different solid interpretations :'>

New ImpactFrame info post!
Bills continue to be a concern, so here's an updated post containing general information about: [1] - Standard Commissions [2] - YCH Commissions [3] - Demo Reel/Freelance Work
Commissions!
I am generally open for them!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you have a character you'd like drawn, be it a tabletop character, a fursona, an oc, or what have you, please reach out if you'd like art of them! (Open to both sfw and nsfw)
If you're looking for something that doesn't match what's laid out on the commission sheet (like a ref sheet, PNGTuber setup, etc.), please reach out and we can discuss potential options and pricing!
You can contact me either in DMs or via the contact points listed at the bottom of the price sheet. Please read the terms!
YCH Commissions!
Available on my Ko-Fi page!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
YCH Commissions are open on my Ko-Fi page!
Do you want to see your character idling before a fight or reaching a new power level? If so, then please follow the link to my Ko Fi page! Since it's a lot clearer what you'll be getting out of these from the start, payment for these is generally taken up front when you order one of these. (Because of that, they're actually the quickest way to financially support me and my ability to eat!)
Demo Reel!
I have one!
While I am open to working on individual commissions, they're nowhere near the level of paying the bills on their own. I'm on the hunt for a proper art/animation job that'll help me claw my way out of the hellhole that is retail work. If you have a film or game project that needs a 2D animator or happen to be recruiting for a studio, I'd be happy to hear from you!
youtube
Oh hey, you made it to the end! Thanks for reading all that, hope you have a good day!

Sir what do you animate in?! I need a program 😭😭 please and thank you 🛐🛐
Hi roenters!!
I use Toon Boom Harmony Essentials! I was very lucky when I was younger, my grandma bought it for me and I have used it ever since :,)) Before it I used Flipnote Hatena, and before that I used post-it notes and hand-drew little flipbooks!
If you are committing to this software, I recommend the one-time purchase! If my software was a monthly or yearly subscription, that would stress me out 😱 But it does have an option to buy just a month of use if you want to get a feel for it! It has functions for blurring and softer color usage, but I rarely use them as I don't know how to use them super well nor do I know just how much it is capable of with that sort of stuff. It does what I need it to do very well, which is 2d animation with generally flat colors done by hand!
Here is a short screencap of a Theratpy page update I just finished for my Devoted+ patrons, flicking thru my layers and a couple basic software functions:
I also stream animating sessions via twitch, if you ever have any questions feel free to hop in and ask during a stream as well!! :)) It's the best and quickest way to ask me anything about Theratpy or my setup and whatnot and get answers in real time!
Hope this helps!! <3 beetlerat

george russell is interviewed during the drivers parade, baku - september 15, 2024 (transcript under the cut)
[fans cheering throughout] Interviewer: "George, can we start with you? Lining up P5 on the grid today. From what you've seen in the long run data, how confident re you feeling going into today?" George: "I heard none of your question there, but I'm excited for the race day and… [laughs] Yeah, it's gonna be an interesting one. Baku always throws up a lot of unknowns, and obviously got Lando starting out of position. I don't think it'll be long before he's in the mix and even probably fighting for a podium, 'cause they're just so fast at the moment. Obviously Charles has always been exceptional around here, but often in the race they're not as quick as they are in qualifying, so I think there's a few opportunities to be had." Interviewer: "Have the team focused the setup more on the race today, and if so are you feeling confident that you can be up on the podium?" George: "Definitely we've got a faster racecar than quali car. I think we're the quickest team in the straight, which would be pretty handy for racing, for the race start, DRS, defending, attacking. So I hope we can take advantage of all of that speed in the straights, but ultimately if the guys around us are a little bit quicker we won't be in that fight." Interviewer: "Thank you, George. Good luck."

This is based off my repeating arcs theory.
I wasn't sure at first if Arc 8 was suppose to be the mirror to arc 4 at first due to the introduction of Echidna, but after @artbyfinnbrown pointed out the similar ends of 3 and 8 (particularly that top notch Rem and Priscilla comparison), I'm convinced 9 is the next 4.
Arc 9 has also already had alot of big mirrors setup to 4. Otto with the book of wisdom recently complaining about Subaru saving everyone rather than Roswaal, Subaru's group attempting to talk to the dead (Echidna/Priscilla), even melancholy and vanity both being in close proximity (Clind in main/Pandora in sidestory). But I believe the most important mirror is the current locations of everyone.
In arc 4 the camp was split in two locations with Subaru forced to pick between the two. Arc 9 so far has the entire Emilia camp split into four different locations if you count Subaru's group at the tower, but I don't actually think something bad is going to happen there.
The reason I think the narrative has brought Subaru to the tower right now is because the library of Taygeta is the quickest way for Subaru to see all of the seperate Emilia camp groups across Lugunica have been killed, and he will be forced to pick between the three.

(“Iron Legacy Anon”)
Turn 7:
Last time on (“Robotic Engineer Superheroes Fight Sticklers about Chess Board Specifications”), our heroes tried their best to beat down the trio of invaders. Eventually knocking Trey and Riddle out and got to talk to Catter. After informing Catter of the situation, they began to calm down… When suddenly Riddle got back up and transformed into a new form and became a serious threat.
Anyway we zoom back in and… It’s the collars again, that’s all that can be seen… An utter flurry of collars as Riddle tries anything and everything to grab a non-present 5 of Diamonds… Of course, when you have 50 billion collars everyone’s bound to get hit, though, The chessboard and the engineer have it particularly bad with three instead of two… Atleast Omnitron X and Taychon seem to not be affected too badly by the sudden infernal shocks from the collars… Though, many people’s stuff was snatched for being “contraband” including… The checkers variant on the board, The Wrangler, and one of Omnitron X’s electro-deployment units.
Next up we cut to the chessboard. Altough it might be hard to do damage with all the obstructions the king marches on, commanding its pawns to march as it continues the speed and animates a pawn. As one rounds to the final square and returns home, its form begins to shift… Promoting into The Queen, the King finally had his powerhouse on the field…
Meanwhile, The Engineer was careful to not incur the wrath of the collars, choosing only to work on upgrading his last building, The Teleporter… With his full setup at his command, he chuckled as his devices got to work… The Dispencer funneled valuable resources to the World’s Quickest Woman, however due to the many collars around everyone’s necks the healing actually turned to hurting… The two sentry guns made sure, however that the damage would be more than reflected onto Riddle. The teleporter gave the chessboard the opportunity to set up the patrol variant, though it wouldn’t do much. Anyway, The Rook launched at Riddle once again, smashing with maximum efficiency due to the Cassablanca variant even with the obstructions due to the collar.
Taychon, meanwhile had enough of these damned collars! She burst towards the powerful magician, because she knew… Nothing could stop her… Whenever she felt like slowing down she would just get faster and faster… (Real flavor text by the way.) She wrapped up the many lines of the leash seemingly attached to the collar the speed and sudden reaction almost blinding Riddle…
“Real talk… These collars amuse me, they seem very applicable to so many situations… I wonder how they work every time I dismantle one to remove them… But quick lesson kid, nothing, and I mean nothing slows me down!” Taychon said, jumping up and out of the window of Unity’s Playground, up across the window of the front desk, and even higher past the security station, her secondary lab, and even the command station… She spontaneously jumps off of the building and spins rapidly, slamming Riddle into the grounds at ridiculous speeds!
(If I was actually writing a superhero story, this is where I would have it end. But unfortunately Taychon is 9 damage short of the KO and having Omnitron X having a big moment with self sabotage seems not the smartest after such a big moment. Just for pacing reasons.)
(For tax purposes, that combo was a Supersonic Reponse into a Lightspeed Barrage… But I mean, This is much more cool thematically for a 17 damage big attack… Also a Taychon power experiment flubbed.)
We cut back to on the ground, where Taychon, Omnitron X… And really everyone else have been dragged to the ground floor. Omnitron X, seeing Taychon injured from a mixture of sources, decides to heal all the other heroes… With Catter and The King splitting some of the rays. Beginning it’s reset process quickly, it noticed Riddle wasn’t quite defeated… So it made sure, ditching it’s unnecessary parts for a major electrical blast through the collar… It gave a curt wave to The King, who took the signal and had it’s pieces surround and properly capture the Overblotted enemy… The two knights hopped across the battlefield to surround the enemy and made sure that the Housewarden was out cold…
The King, confident in its victory announced “CHECKMATE.” before turning to its former opponent in Catter… “Catter Diamond, please acquire a dragonfly pin as soon as possible.” Aiming to mark him as an ally acquired through a Dragonfly Variation like play, before turning off itself and the rest of the Chessboard… Catter was very confused about the board’s strange request. And turned to Dell…
The Engineer replied… “I think it likes you? Not sure really what’s going on in that box to cause that, mostly just do the definite stuff like the mechanical parts…”
Catter however… For all of that, had taken an interest to the strange chessboard. And asked… “Hey, Dell, could I make a video showcasing the cool chessboard? I think it would be happy to see me again.”
Dell sighed… “Make sure you don’t break it…”

[Something was off in Vincent's apartment. Specifically, one of his plants was mysteriously absent from its usual spot with just the amount of sun it liked - and in its place laid a piece of paper, written upon in glittery pink gel pen. It read as follows.]
"Hiya Vinnie!!
Nice place! I've seen it before but I figured I'd compliment the setup this time. Nicer than the orphanage LOL. Anyway, as you have by now noticed, your beloved... I don't know plants, but your friend is gone. I have it.
If you ever want to see this thing again, you will bring me and/or my sibling a dessert a handwritten letter of apology. I can't promise not to drop it out a window if you take too long or do anything to upset them too much before you comply. You can choose the dessert, but make it good
Yours sincerely, E. Koizumi ʚ♡ɞ"
[In one corner was a scribbly looking drawing of a black haired girl winking with her tongue poking out. In one hand, she held a familiar looking potted plant, while the other posed to make a little victory sign.]
At this point, he's admittedly not surprised to see the empty spot, but still in distress. He's also not surprised to see the drawing resembling Esmee in the corner. He anxiously reads the note under his breath, gasping when the line about dropping it out of a window reaches his sight. He only skims the rest, already racking his brain for the quickest chocolate mousse he could make.

Sony A7CII Thoughts After Two Months
Tumblr media
PROS:
The A7C was already one of my favorite cameras of all time and this improves on it a lot more than I thought when just seeing the specs. The added front dial alone makes it many times easier to control than the older model, and lets me use my typical Sony setup that I’ve grown accustomed to (aperture on front dial, shutter speed on rear dial, and ISO on the scroll wheel).
This is the quickest operating Sony camera I’ve owned. I think they kind of lulled me into forgetting how fast cameras can be going from off to on and taking photos. The A7RII was slow as heck with each subsequent model I’ve owned getting faster and faster (A7III to A7C to A7RIV). This new Sony is at a level of speed that makes it hard to go back to using the A7RIV which I still own (for now).
The autofocus is superb. I still haven’t really put it through its paces since I got the camera in the winter and the lack of light plus uncooperative weather has made it tricky to go out and shoot, but from what I have shot it’s nearly flawless. It’s way better than any camera I’ve owned before. It also has some really neat autofocusing modes, like the ability to focus on the eyes of birds. I’m not really around birds close up all that often but it worked really well at an exotic bird place in Jersey I went to recently.
The camera is 33 megapixels, which is a nice compromise between feeling like it’s sometimes too much (61) or too little (24).
The in-body image stabilization is really good. It’s certainly the best I’ve used in any camera so far…although to be fair I’ve never used a Nikon/Canon/Fuji/Olympus body with IBIS, only Ricoh (GRIII), Panasonic (GX7 and GX85), and Sony.
It can lower the shutter when switching lenses so dust doesn’t get in there. Not gonna lie it seems kind of dangerous and something that could potentially damage the shutter, but so far it’s kept the dust out.
CONS:
The viewfinder isn’t great. I’ve never really been an EVF snob since I’ve been shooting on mirrorless EVFs for over a decade now (I had a V1 back in 2013), but going from the A7RIV to this makes it kind of stick out. I also recently handled an A7RV, which really blows it out the water. With autofocus lenses it’s no problem, but using manual focus lenses is more difficult. On the plus side, it automatically goes into peaking mode when you manually focus, even when using adapted lenses or lenses without electrical contacts.
The camera only has one card slot. Not a huge dealbreaker considering every other camera I own aside from my A7RIV is the same in that regard. A second slot even if it was a micro would have been great though. A nice thing about the A7RIV is that I’ve never left home without a memory card because even if I forget one there’s always another in there.
No joystick. Again, not completely necessary but it’s nice to have. Most of my subjects aren’t humans (or animals, or other things that the camera can instinctively detect) so there are plenty of times I want to position the focus point myself.
Slow flash sync and shutter speed. This camera is like the A7C before it in that it only flash syncs up to 1/160. It also only shoots up to 1/4000.
Still don't love the flip screen because it makes quick waist-level shooting a pain in the ass. I wish they went with the A7RV style screen.
Speaking of, all the new perks on this camera make me want to use it a ton more than my A7RIV, but it also makes me want to get an A7RV. Maybe I'll sell my X100V since the prices are nuts right now...

Everyone throws around the word ‘passion’ without understanding its true meaning. We’ve been given a unique way to focus on a task, with complete dedication—locked in like a missile. That predator way of thinking is sports. In this world, you must either be a predator or risk becoming prey, so everyone develops a unique set of survival skills. Some are naturally gifted, while others adapt out of necessity. This evolution stems from need, not passion. Passion means honing a unique skill set until it consumes your entire focus. They are called apex predators. Just like Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen—two very different driving styles, but they are the only ones who could break simulations and outperform the car. There are very few who could do this.
From the legendary 2021 season to the great qualifying battles of 2022, Max has excelled in F1 in 2023, with 2024 bringing real heat to the competition. In 2026, Max and Kimi Antonelli should join Mercedes. Kimi is Mercedes’ answer to Oscar. Now, new talents are emerging ,  the Simulation generation. Some could argue otherwise, but it’s  a really talented pool of drivers. Oscar’s performance accelerated Kimi’s entry, but Kimi’s speed ensures that if the setup suits him, he can outperform anyone, leading the team to build the car around him. But if Max decides to join Mercedes in 2026, there would be chaos . The number of meetings, , lawyers,  corporations and contracts agreements involved  would be massive. Kimi is skilled, but with Max, they get a 3-time World Champion, as it stands , the Championship of 2024 is also led by Max. Let’s wait until the end. They get to experience a generational talent, a proven driver who always finds car’s limits and then some. Max is the man, and he is also not old—very young, with a lot of career ahead. Then Kimi might get a firsthand learnings from a World Champion, however you may want to take it. It’s all for Max’s to lose, like Hamilton in 2022 with George Russel. But 2026 should be Max and Kimi, Lewis and Charles, another solid pairing. Arguably the quickest driver on his day in qualifying, able to maintain blistering pace when setup and strategy work—and sometimes manages to work it out even without them. And then you have a 7-time champion of the world. One of the greatest ever to do it and shows no sign of slowing down. Still the driver to beat on his day, no contest.
Lewis dominated, I would say, even in McLaren. Lewis was lethal. You see him in your mirrors, and you approach him differently. Aggressive. He has learned to control his aggression, and now it is coming back. And with the 2026 rule change, Lewis is one of the few masters remaining of old-school cars, without DRS. Very intelligent. So is Max. Very sharp, very dependable driver. He doesn’t make mistakes too often now, and even if he does go over the limit, he most often comes back better in the next race. Max is aggressive. He is toning it down and focusing on the craft. His craft is beyond exceptional. Rain master, very adaptable, he could get as close to the indicated lap time consistently, and sometimes even surpass that.
McLaren will have Piastri go to Red Bull; McLaren doesn’t suit him. He is the best driver on the grid right now, but he needs to manage his tire wear, which he is able to match with Lando, which is impressive. Oscar is the Kimi Räikkönen of our generation, in terms of racecraft. All or nothing. Very aggressive, very calm, keeps everything under control, even when the car tries to slip away from him once in a while. Red Bull needs Oscar. McLaren needs someone to play second fiddle to Lando Norris. He is where the money is at. Mark Webber’s plan is to make Oscar ,the Australian World Champion, and he needs a team like Red Bull to develop the car around him. To get a 2nd Red Bull driver to match and get the championship points. Red Bull doesn’t budge if the championship is not at stake, like 2023, where Max alone racked up both of them with Checo in 2nd. It was just a flex. With Checo likely retiring in 2025, Max could move to Mercedes, Oscar to Red Bull, and McLaren would then seek a second driver. Lewis vs. Charles vs. Max vs. Kimi vs. Oscar vs. Lando, and our headmaster of F1—Fernando Alonso. But you still cannot beat him without breaking a sweat. He’s arguably the greatest driver, despite his history of joining the wrong teams, he rarely makes a mistake on track. The most gifted driver, with the likes of Jim Clark, Ayrton Senna, and the greatest of the greats. Still young, still hungry for that one drive that F1 owes him at this point. He should do something as quick as he drives (I mean really fast) to get something done at AM.
Ferrari is cooking, Mercedes is cooking, McLaren has already cooked, Red Bull is cooking for a feast because when Red Bull dominates, they come purely to rewrite history books and add some extra pages to it. Williams is cooking. Alex Albon is a very quick, very aggressive driver. His Williams stint is legendary. Then Carlos Sainz, he has always improved wherever he went. He is the guy with the most experience in adapting to different styles and design philosophies of the car than anyone on the grid. Still very young, very quick, very adaptable, reliable driver. Audi is cooking. No one knows for sure what Audi might bring to the table. If they could bring Sebastian Vettel to drive for them, that would be legendary. But it would take a lot to convince a 4-time World Champion, who, as I could see, is itching to race because the racing is so good. No true racer can miss that, even if it is for a new team. Sebastian, when his car is under him, no one could beat him. His Red Bull stint is legendary, but so does his Ferrari stint till 2017. 2018 and 2019 were tough, but he had his memorable moments and few wins and podiums. Sebastian’s talent truly visible again in 2022, COTA USA GP, where Vettel overtakes K-Mag, of all people, round the outside, on the last lap of the GP, and with such aggression. No wonder he wants to come back. The Aston Martin stint was too much effort with too little points. He needed to cool down, chill out, then come back and show why Vettel is ranked among the greats. People with no knowledge of F1 quote that one clip from Alonso about him. Vettel has the greatest career of them all after Michael Schumacher; no one has seen such domination. From 2004 to 2007, there were 3 different champions in the span of 4 years, but when Red Bull, Adrian Newey, Horner, and Vettel cooked, there was 1 champion for 4 years. Great driver, great for PR, very good business-wise, very skilled, knowledgeable, kind, and humorous German boy, who wins like a well-oiled machine, like a swiss watch, very precise, but he has broken simulations and exceeded the car’s performance in more races than I could remember. Sometimes, it was just Vettel in the Red Bull , doing the impossible if he gets the right environment . Audi would do anything to provide that. With him and Binotto, it’s tough, but it might just work out. Alpine is cooked, it’s done, it is toasted. Haas was onto nothing up until 2022, but Komatsu-san is making a very delicate meal, and we see Haas pop up in top 10 in qualifying. With the rule changes, Haas could fight because their team principal is one of the most experienced engineers on the grid. Been here since 2003. That era is coming back. Ocon’s experience and Bearman, who is also a very talented, proven driver, would make a cool pairing. Ollie Bearman could feel the heat, but so could Ocon. Strong lineup.
But everything written above could completely fall apart. However, if there’s one thing that remains constant, it’s that everyone involved in Formula 1 is deeply passionate about the sport—otherwise, they leave or get replaced. Passion is the unwavering belief that you still have a chance, and the determination that won’t let you give up.

TRANSMITTERS.
  — origin, significance, design & logistics
Tumblr media
Inspired by the above image, which was accessible on the band's website prior to the album being released and for some time after. This was an interactive image; tuning the knob on the right to different frequencies caused different short videos, the 'transmissions' shorts, to play in the screen of the device. This device does not appear prominently in the music videos (or anywhere else for that matter) though it may be part of the device seen in Na Na Na (here.)
Most of the transmissions have been archived [here]; tw for flashing images. There are no direct scares but some of the audios are loud and/or jarring, and the vibes of several of the shorts can be a little disconcerting.
When it came to fandom, a lot of us started out on twitter (as there were official accounts of characters from the world of Danger Days already found there, run by various members of the band(?) and other creatives responsible for the killjoys universe) and thus in-character posts were restricted to 140 characters. We mostly did dialogue-only interactions and pictures. This, naturally, begged the question – how were the characters communicating this way, through 'voice' and images? We latched onto the transmitter as the obvious answer, and the idea of transmitters and practice of talking-only interactions stuck across the years even as writers moved to other websites and forums in order to do longer writing.
Controlled (and Contraband) Communication
Transmitters are a creation of Better Living Industries. Presented to the common public as a communications device, they were devised and designed as tools for disseminating propaganda, increasing advertisement exposure, and monitoring civilian perception of the company and its opposition. Snowballing off of the wireless accessibility and its uses both socially and as a way to receive news and safety broadcasts, phones and similar were phased out in favor of these devices. In time, it became mandatory for a city household to have at least one transmitter, "in case of emergency."
The problem with radio signals is that they aren’t so easily regulated as BLi would like. There’s a margin of forgiveness in tuning, close is close enough to listen in – and therefore there’s a margin of evasion, and a plethora of back doors. BLind’s opposition took advantage of this early on and have only gotten better at it with time. These days it’s all but impossible for the city to eradicate a rouge signal.
Transmitters aren't strictly necessary in the inner zones, where populations are closer together and news can travel by word of mouth, but are vital in the outer zones to get wind of dangerous weather or animals that might be moving through, as well as to call for help or send word ahead of yourself. Killjoys aren't always the most trusting, not even of each other, but it remains true that the 'joy that tries to lone wolf their way through the zones is likely to be dead sooner rather than later: it's wise to keep connected, even if only to listen
Pirate radio stations are the quickest and safest way to spread words that BL/ind doesn't want anyone saying and, of course, the best way to find a solid wall of music to keep company with. Signals are so loose and most get bounced around until t's hard for BLi to say where any of the chatter is coming from. Radio hosts who have tower setups that reach across multiple zones are well-known and often at least vaguely venerated. Striking down a DJ is a black mark on anyone, and when the city manages to pin them down and take them out entire swathes of the desert go dark. DJs fill the silence with music and conversation, keep you connected in a disjointed desert, and bring word of disasters both natural and of the curated Better Living variety. Anything and everything to help zone runners keep running.
Dr. Death Defying of the WKIL is the most known and celebrated of the DJs, broadcasting from who-knows-where on the regular, guiding the new kids and the Fab Four alike out of the stickiest messes with crow crews and back to the dust bowl called home. Other recognized broadcasters include DJ Hot Chimp, an elusive and eccentric rabblerouser up north, Rockin’ Jay and L-E-N’s both belong to the Web that guards zones 03 and 04, and RKO of a station called The Fence which broadcasts through the night from somewhere near the southeastern edge of the zones.
All the Bells and Whistles
A mutli-tool of the modern age, transmitters can connect to other transmitters, receive public broadcasts and informational text files, and store information. In the simplest possible terms, transmitters are capable of short range radio broadcast and long range radio reception. It might help to think of them as souped-up walkie-talkies that can pick up radio stations and broadcast TV, or smart phones as they might have been imagined by a person in the 70s or 80s (i.e. sans wifi). The biggest difference from, for instance, older cellphones is their limited connection range and lack of smart interfacing. Hence the comparison to walkie-talkies. This idea of them has also informed their design. Though there is no real way to gauge the size of the device from the only official appearance of it, it seems safe to assume most transmitters are roughly palm-width handheld devices.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've taken to mentally comparing them to Sony's line of “Watchman” devices (1982-2000) in terms of approximate size and range of styles. (Killjoys, of course, tend to paint theirs.)
All transmitters broadcast and receive audio and text. All transmitters are capable of receiving and displaying images and video broadcast, though may not have a camera of their own. Some have typing interfaces, while those that don't often have dictation tech. Voice and text tend to get across a transmitter’s max range relatively undisturbed, but videos and images are known to pick up distortion and sometimes fragment before they get where they’re going. Text and images can be passed device-to-device similar to chain email, though stored locally on the device instead of in an online repository. Most transmitters have some amount of memory or other means for storing messages the owner may have missed out on, similar to a home phone’s message box. Generally speaking they can hold a few minutes of video, a moderate amount of recorded audio, or a lot of text — the specifics, of course, vary by model.
Most also have the ability to trigger recording at any time, so a user could grab a song or a piece of radio talk off the waves and hold the file on their device. Anyone who wanted to keep such things long term would be smart to move the recorded material onto a different device. This can be done by connecting the transmitter to another device via hardline though I expect some have more of a traditional inbox style that requires tapes for the recorded audio. (Or memory and tape capabilities. The combinations get wild!)
A vast majority of transmitters are battery powered, though some rechargeable options exist for unreasonably high prices in Center City. Average battery life is weeks long, and can of course be rationed by turning the device off between uses.
As handheld devices, their broadcast range in incredibly limited. Exact numbers vary from model to model and effectiveness varies by terrain. On average, someone with a mid range transmitter in an open, flat part of the zones can expect to transmit out 5-6 miles, and receiving range depends almost entirely on the broadcaster's setup. Lower end models might only reach 1-3, and anything with a base range any higher would be either expensive or custom, and further would rely on elevation to gain their reach. A transmitter could be equipped with the parts and power to broadcast to the moon, but it wouldn’t matter if the user couldn’t get the physical height to let it cast out. The higher it is and the less obstructed its signal, the wider the signal goes. Savvy killjoys use natural formations, ridges, and hills to boost their signals; with the aid of height a mid-range transmitter might get out to 10 miles or even further every now and then, which may be the thing that saves their life! but it’s going to come down to luck. Antennae are helpful, here.
This is a limitation of the technology’s capabilities and the earth’s curvature, not a question of smarts and power supply. Radio stations have towers for a reason! and that’s what makes DJs and the Web so important in the zones. Wide broadcast and long range communication are impossible without something really tall to send from. The infrastructure that would allow it simply does not exist and could not be easily created, powered, or supplemented.
Someone in the city with the same device could only expect something like two miles (or less) of clear messaging due to signal obstruction. Roof to roof would get one more distance, but if the message is illicit it puts the broadcaster in a vulnerable position. Messaging trees —where one person passes news to another, person to person until it reaches the intended destination- are incredibly common for both social and underground communication in the city. There are actual phones and phone lines in Center City, though they are mostly found within secure buildings and are typically limited or else entirely closed internal systems. All hard lines, no wireless (which is true of most of Better Living's servers and networks.)
City transmitters are often limited in one or more ways; some have their reach drastically cut down, while others might not be able to call out at all and only receive official BLi broadcasts. Generally, the more privileged the citizen -the closer to “Center City” they are- the more options available to a buyer. This is both a question of cost and a matter of what BLind will permit a person to own and have access to. Citizens of the outer city have to save to get their hands on a decent model, and those in the Neon Slums have the most limited devices, which are commonly bugged for surveillance as well. Some citizens, the killjoy sympathetic and the bold, will take their devices to a servicer who checks for bugs and remove certain software based limitations, ‘lockpicking’ the devices. It’s a risky endeavor. Both owning a lockpicked transmitter and being caught altering them are criminal offenses that can get a person punished or even detained.
Killjoys transmitters vary wildly in their production and capabilities, depending on how much the killjoy in question relies on it. (As mentioned, they’re borderline accessory in the inner zones but a must-have survival tool further out.) Some killjoys are capable of getting their hands on the newest, shiniest works of tech, while others use rejects rescued from BLind’s dumping ground or even patch them together from parts scavenged from burnt out cars and old-world establishments. Unless a killjoy is after a locked one on purpose, it’s safe to assume every killjoy transmitter is lockpicked. Smart killjoys get their stolen and recycled transmitters checked for audio taps and tracking bugs, or learn to spot the signs and clean the devices themselves.
Any zones technician will recommend taking your transmitter to someone who knows what they’re doing. BLind gets creative with their spy tech, changing designs every year and burying betrayal behaviors under necessary functions. It’s a good idea to be safe rather than oh so very dusted.
In years since taking over as the main lane of communication, wily transmitter users have figured out how to make ‘private’ calls between two specific devices. It used to be a very complicated process, as it involves hiding one signal behind another, but became so popular than many lockpicked transmitters have easy to remember shortcuts for it. One or two button presses and a chat becomes harder to hear. As one might guess, though, the entire system being founded on radio the way that it is means that the security of these privatized calls only extends so far. Killjoys mostly rely on distance to keep their conversations away from BLi’s overachieving ears, while those in the city having dangerous talks would be wise to meet in person and whisper, or find a way to obscure the meaning of their words.
A dive into transmitter etiquette is in the works! I will link it here when it's done.

Note
this drs thing is not gonna work for rb and it’s gonna make everyone slower and then rb are gonna dominate even more AGAIN 😭 and then the tps/fia are gonna be like what can we do about Red Bulls dominance?!?!?
What can they do, that’s the q isn’t it. I thought we cud sit together and do a very gentle analysis of these AMuS rumors, translated by the ever iconic house of tifosi heavyeight tami, and its accompanying cunty lil graphic of top speeds in spa, wid and without drs
Tumblr media
"No other car gains that much speed with DRS activated than the Red Bull. Ferrari was able to close the gap a bit. Mercedes and McLaren still have some work to do. The DRS effect plays massively into Red Bull's cards wherever there are three DRS zones or the DRS sections are disproportionately long. Apparently F1 has plans to only allow DRS in the race and not in quali anymore. If those plans succeed, it would hurt Red Bull the most."
Lets start wid something that shud be immediately obvious: removing DRS in quali is not just gonna ‘hurt’ the team wid the most powerful DRS, its gonna hurt all the teams, regardless of how their own DRS performs. DRS, and the suspension/front and rear are all built in conformity wid the new regs, they're a complete package, drs is not just a magical button that lets Verstappen drop .800s on his teammates head like a super power. Its a natural progression of what what was once a simpler, less ambitious race-focused project: reduce drag, help cars overtake, stay awake, period. Quali’ purpose is to put together the fastest lap. Literally the whole point of measuring performance over one lap is that u need the car to achieve its top speed. DRS can help wid that, but not all drivers know how to maximize their quali setups, let alone DRS, which is how u get a dawg like sharl vs somebody like lance stroll.
Despite the scary picture AMuS is trying to paint here, there aren't always 3 drs zones and they're not always ‘disproportionally’ long. Monaco a perfect example of this. rb19 ‘DRS advantage’, if u wanna call it that, in Monaco quali, had nothing do wid super gains on a straight. Max and Nando both used that single DRS activation zone to improve their exits. Thats flat out, pure skill, and there is not a button in their car that cud have told them how to do it. Max did it so well he bagged an all timer. Thats the best possible lap u cud have put together in Monaco and like it or not DRS actually gave Nando a fighting chance, levelled the field up until Max pulled those final sectors out of his ass wid pure mastery of his ground effect car. So here u have a drs aided quali session that still went down to the wire, because drs, again, isn’t just a magical speed button anymore, and it does work as part of a whole, driver and setup.
Now lets break down fig. 1: Top-Speed-Vergleich GP Belgien 2023 🌷
As u can c its a top bitches only event, it excludes some interesting torpedo cars I wud love to analyze too, like for example that ungodly Williams.
Also some comments on Spa. Spa has 2 DRS zones. Its a particularly representative circuit because of its mixture of long straights, low and high speed corners. Its an old school type of track, very cerebral, very strategic. Its the longest track in f1, and one of the quickest too. Obvi u got eau rouge. But then also the kemmel straight. So overall a pretty good place to give these machines a stretch and put tire management skills to the test.
rbr gains 20,3 kph wid DRS open, but without drs, top speed is still a whopping 320,5 kph. Rocket. However,
Ferrari gains 19kph wid drs. Their top speed sits at about ~2kph less than rb19 wid or without drag, cud have been a comfortable pole for sharl wid how the Ferrari car was setup. The only reason he didnt get it was because he couldnt put a good lap together.
15,3kph gained from mclaren's DRS. No DRS, they settle at 311,6 kph. Mclaren never did benefit much from DRS, but they seem to be hunting down a rbr solution for that, and wid moderate success. Mclaren particularly monstrous in medium speed corners, prolly one of the best cars in the grid. Spa not so kind to them in this regard. Still, a very VERY strong lap from Oscar in the shootout ((no drs)) to nearly take it from Max ((11 tenths to pole)). Imo Max cud have hustled a lil more, he chose not to, this time it was enough.
only 10 kph gained wid DRS for M£rc's surprisingly respectable top speed of 319,8kph wid Lewis’ setup. 0,2kph separated them from the rb19 rocket when drs isn’t available. Softs and an empty tank are the w14s best friend. BUT
DRS added ‼️25 kph‼️ ((😐)) to GR's m£rc in Spa. Even tho this is a bigger gain than even the rb19 it’s not at all representative. His top speed was already lacking in comparison to Lewis' at 327,5kph. Difference between the m£rcs and their DRS efficacy can be explained wid George's very aggressive setup for Sunday that didn’t quite work even though it was a nice try. w14 has the operating window of a ripped plastic bag.
AMuS absolutely correct, 20,3 kph less on a straight wud hurt rb19 in quali, as its literally the highest advantage gain wid drs. However, even tho again all of this is speculation, we're just going by whats being reported, and they've had some misses lately, rb19 still the 'fastest' car wid or without drs. 340,8kph and 320,8kph is still the top of the table.😐 Lets not even bring management, drag, aerodynamics or god forbid, driver skill to it. Realistically, the teams that are able to fight Max for p0le either via outstanding conditions or new formats that don’t allow drs, f£rrari and m£rc, have both failed to capitalize on Sundays and beat Max for 8 straight races. Thats because rb19 is not a drs powered rocket, its simply the best ground effect car in f1, and the drs is a result of that, not the other way around.
So. What IS the purpose of a drs quali ban? Whats the justification for something like that? Wud they bring up 'entertainment value' or, worse, attempt to make it about 'competition'? And what type of message does that send to these other teams, to fans and drivers, and the culture of f1 in general, about the grids own competence, or lack thereof?
