Fun Fact
BuzzFeed published a report claiming that Tumblr was utilized as a distribution channel for Russian agents to influence American voting habits during the 2016 presidential election in Feb 2018.
Since I started my Tokyo Revengers playlists (all linked below), here are some revelations that I’ve made -
Hanma absolutely BLASTS the Notorious B.I.G ✨ also ngl he’s the type to play yung gravy, Eminem, and MGK
Chifuyu is a Frank Ocean girlie. He’s also likes Drake, Rae Sremmurd, and Cardi B probably.
Kazutora, being the absolutely loml, is similar to me - he’s got everything under the sun from $uicide Boy$ to XXX to Arctic Monkeys and if it has any kind of guitar riff 😮💨
Now Baji… Baji is all about vibes, right? He’s got a lot of Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Ski Mask and whatever else sounds great while committing arson 😃
The fact that Rae Sremmurd, specifically Swae Lee, and Spider-Man, specifically Miles Morales, crossed over so prominently is a dream come true for me in particular.
This is what we were listening to around this time 6 years ago in 2018. Yep, that’s right, 2018 wasn’t just a couple years ago. The last 4 years alone have been a fever dream. Where were you at the start of summer 2018? Was it a time to be alive?
This is the time when Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover released ‘This Is America’ because of the shit show that America was and still is, especially after that orange man Trump was President for only a year and a half. Jay Rock made a Jock Jam Anthem for that year with ‘Win.’ Cardi B enlisted J Balvin and Bad Bunny on what would be the song of the summer with ‘I Like It.’ Nicki Minaj was racking up collabs and celebrating her Asian culture with ‘Chun-Li’. Rita Ora unintentionally caused a lot of controversy with her self-proclaimed pro-bisexual anthem ‘Girls’ with Bebe Rexha, Charli XCX, and Cardi B, leaving a bad taste in most LGBTQ+ mouths. Janelle Monae’s softer take, ‘Pynk’ with Grimes, struck a much better cord with a viral video celebrating the VaJayJay and seemingly was her way of officially coming out. Ella Mai strikes it big with her breakout hit, ‘Boo’d Up’ which was the song of the summer for all the Bae’s. Ariana Grande makes a return to music after a horrible year in the aftermath of the terrorist attack at one of her concerts that killed innocent fans with ‘No Tears Left To Cry.’ Post Malone continues to make hits with ‘Paranoid’ and ‘Ball For Me.’ Selena Gomez releases the single ‘Back To You’ for her record breaking Netflix show ‘13 Reasons Why’ and the always-controversial Kanye West gets inspired by Trump to run for President while toting a MAGA hat to which TI represents the hip hop community and basically everyone else by saying “Nah Bruh” with ‘Ye Vs The People’. What a time alright.
