That other story was romantic and cute as shit, but it made me remember what happened to me at a party once.

There was this guy there, he was very charismatic and all the girls wanted him. This one chick in particular I remember was constantly leaning against him and rubbing his arm. He was polite but kind of ignored her.

We both happened to sit on the couch next to each other. We talked about something and he asked me if my hair was natural. "The color isn't, but the wavy curly thing is." He sighed, swirling the murky dregs of his drink—something local, bitter, and mercifully free of frog slime. Me time, he’d told himself. A blissful hour without Naxar’s chaperoning while Roak was handling drop-off duty for Roe; insisting that going via their own volition would avoid any "temptations" to go anywhere except school. Koschei wondered if maybe he should've pressed to go with, but with how much time he spent with them already, perhaps it would be healthier to give the two of them some space and enjoy some well-earned father-daughter bonding. Besides, if there was anything he could reliably thrive on to pass the time, it was this—the thrill of outthinking, outplaying, outlasting. “You’re shuffling the deck sideways,” snarled the largest gambler, claws scraping the table. Koschei’s silvery horns, etched with that cryptic symbol, caught the light as he shrugged. “My friend, if I cheated, you’d be thanking me for the lesson.” He took a slow sip, the calm in his voice a blade sheathed in velvet. “I just know how to play the game.”

The saloon's ambient chatter died. Four sets of eyes—three livid, one amused—locked in a silence sharper than Koschei’s claws. He could taste the violence brewing, sour and electric. Typical.

"He didn't cheat." Came a slurred voice.

"I've calculated thirty-two billion different possible outcomes for your game. This was one of them. If he'd cheated, the outcome would be duffer...differend."

The cybertronian stood up, swaying slightly on his feet.

"He may be bending the rules, but he didn't cheat."

A System of “Dominance & Submission”. How this explains Male behaviour.

Men function in a system of dominance and submission, where they love to thrive usually at the expense of others. Those “others” are usually Women. There’s a reason why Men are flooding to the political right, the political right operates under a belligerent hierarchal system that excludes people on the basis of gender, class, race, and sexuality, ostracising most people in our society. Prioritizing the privilege whilst undermining the marginalized directly falls in line with how Men operate within the “dominance and submission” system, this explains why Men are flocking to the political right & manosphere in droves. It’s really about benefiting themselves at the exploitation of others.

The reason why Misogyny and the hatred of feminism are at an all-time high is because Men want to feel dominant and if they can’t feel dominant amongst other Men, the “easiest” way they deem to experience that feeling, is over Women. When women are no longer restricted or controlled. Men see this as a huge disadvantage because they’ve lost all their bargaining power and women no longer need to opt into these relationships, as the artificial dependence on Men has been removed.

Although we still live in a hierarchal system broadly speaking in our society, it no longer applies to the dynamics between Men and Women in relationships as Women can choose to opt out completely. Men have lost their monopoly of power over Women and they feel like they’ve been done a great disservice. That’s why we keep hearing about the “male loneliness epidemic” and “disenfranchised young men” The only thing that Men feel disenfranchised by is the fact that they no longer can have a free wife slave for just existing as a Man. Men feel like they’ve lost their social standing in society and that is rooted in having a false and artificial sense of superiority over Women.

Men’s struggle to value the humanity of people around them and their lack of introspection/EQ will keep them stagnant and unable to move forward in society. Women’s ability to incorporate and adopt what we deem both “feminine” and “masculine” is the reason why Women are outperforming Men in education, academic achievement, workplace participation, and social influence.

The reason why Men are failing in modern-day society, it’s that Men are incapable of adopting what we deem “feminine” traits such as cooperation and collaboration amongst their fellow human beings because they are socialized to be individualistic and self-serving. And to see anything that’s related to Women as “beneath them” or “women’s work”, because once again they see Women as inferior and less than. Their inability to think and act beyond this binary of “dominance/submission” and “masculine/feminine” is the reason why they’ll continue to fall further behind.

The further that Men continue to fall behind the more the government will have to create more artificial reasons for them to exist at the expense of Women, by rescinding Women's fundamental human rights in the US - they’ve taken Roe V Wade off the table, conservative lawmakers are planning to take no fault divorce off the table, fully well knowing that Women predominately file for divorce. It’s to control women’s movement, to create an artificial dependency on Men, to give Men a reason to exist ultimately at the expense of Women.

We know that single lonely men are one of the most dangerous groups in society and the government recognizes this. Men are dependent on Women in their lives to thrive, reproduce and have a life that’s worth living, just like a parasite is dependent on a host to survive. When Men struggle, Women have to suffer as a result of this and it’s like a self fulfilling cycle of nature trying to figure out what the male part of this population is really good for.

Understanding this system of dominance and submission will explain 90% of their behaviours. Men are wired to function in this inhumane system due to socialisation, the only way I believe men can break free through from this mindset is if they stop viewing the world through an androcentric & patriarchal lens and start seeing Women as human beings and to start seeing the humanity in the people they’re around. Most Males will probably not, but those Males are bound to be left behind by everyone around them, these Males are moving further to the right wing, joining futile movements like the manosphere and the red pill, trying to justify and find meaning in their existence within these movements. Where they promote “traditional masculinity” but none of it is in line with their actual reality. There’s a certain level of cognitive dissonance Men are going through currently in the modern world. - (I will go in more detail about this in another post)

long time coming but I'm happy to report I have finally finished Elov, Wallace and Lesley's profiles in my OC directory ! ദ്ദി ( ᵔ ᗜ ᵔ )

also here's some slightly reworked titbits about them that are still relevant from an old retrospring answer, as a treat:

Elov:

- he was his father's muse up to his late teen (replacing his mother who resented him for it). His father's work was very controversial because of it's eroticism being present even when photographing his underage son, though nothing was ever done about it as the work remained ambiguously artistic. - he started going to clubs meant for adults as early as 13 because his parents knew a lot of people. He almost never hung out with people his age. - his need for thrill is def pathological. Boredom drives him insane, he has to be doing some sort of stupid, dangerous shit constantly and only thrives in chaos. This has led him to self-sabotage a lot, including fucking up his relationship and chance at stability with Wallace. - he thrifts most of his clothes and has very rarely worn an outfit more than once since he started killing. His goal is to look as trashy and provocative as possible so he has no qualm picking lingerie, tiny dresses, mini shorts and skirts in the women's section. He sometimes also steals clothes from the villas he breaks into; he discards those all the same. - his modus operandi is to hitchhike in the evening and wait for an unsuspecting guy to pick him up -if he gets picked up by a woman, a couple or a family, he will simply hitch a ride without harming anyone. When it is just a man he will usually wait either for an empty stretch of road or for the guy to respond to his flirting, wether by stopping and engaging in more or flipping out and trying to attack him/get him out of the car. Elov likes to play rough and fight, the thrill comes from the uncertainty of his own survival so he will pick men who are bigger than him (not complicated). He's not scared to strike when the car is still moving but his favorite situations is when he gets to make the first move when sex was initiated, totally surprising his victim, though he sometimes treats himself to striking at climax. - he's a messy, careless killer. Once his victim is dead, he steals whatever he needs from them, changes his clothes (he always has a spare in his bag) which he will just throw in the next container and at most drives the care a little further off-road, but that's the most he'll do in term of disposal. Leaving tons of evidence behind is part of the thrill. - his favorite food is those little canapé with fish roe, creme fraîche, chopped red onion and lemon. In general, he loves tiny appetizer food, probably because he grew up eating mostly this since his parents were so often invited to gallery openings and such. It does means he quickly developed a palate for very 'grown-up' foods such as raw oysters or blue cheese, in part in an effort to act mature for his age.

Wallace: - before his arrest, he was a cellist for the Uppsala Chamber Orchestra. He would also offer private cello lessons on the side. - he also had a cat named Mitzi who he was really fond of. Sadly for Mitzi and despite his sister trying to pretend a family member did indeed take her in after his arrest, she was put down. He wasn't fooled in the slightest by the lie. - nonetheless, he still has a fondness for cats. Their feisty temper amuses him. On the other hand, he doesn't like loud and unruly dogs much. - he was closeted until his arrest. During the only phone-call he had with him after, his father made it very clear that to him the most vile part of his murders was their homosexual nature. - the only family he still has contact with is his younger cousin. They sometimes dine together once he is free but rarely as she lives in the capital, is busy with her studies and, despite holding onto the memory of the nice cousin who shared her fondness for music strongly enough to still see him despite everything, she's still just wary enough not to feel comfortable staying at his place, even though he has never harmed a woman. This hurts him, but also that's what you get when you killed people, so he doesn't say anything about it. - he doesn't have much of an opinion on his nickname but dislikes being called like this to his face. - he successfully sued for breach of physician-patient confidentiality when his unauthorized biography was published. This went public and stirred much conversation about wether or not someone like him should be allowed the right to privacy. - his very first kill was actually reported as an accidental death by auto-erotic asphyxiation that he merely 'discovered'. It was only revealed he had intentionally left his friend, who he had offered to "spot" for, die after the publishing of said biography, as he hadn't confessed to it even to the court. He told his former therapist that he was so deeply transfixed by it that he found himself unwilling to help, he also mentioned the unreciprocated romantic feelings he harboured for the victim and admitted to masturbating to the scene before calling the police, details the press ate up and he wishes had stayed private. - before meeting Elov, Wallace wasn't really interested in trying to apply for parole even if he was nearing the end of his 18 year sentence, in part because he believed it was both hopeless and that he had nothing to return to anyway. Elov convinced him by showing his interest in him wasn't merely edgy morbid fascination- or perhaps he just let himself be convinced that he saw more in him than just a potentially dangerous boyfriend to titillate his adrenaline addiction. - even though he has explored much of the underlying issues that led him to murder in his youth and has agreed to how wrong what he did was, he cannot grasp remorse beyond the concept itself, which frustrates him greatly. Nonetheless, this awareness did lead to his therapist judging him to no longer be a threat to others. - before Elov grew tired of having to wait for his parole to end, he had planned to use his Scottish citizenship to move there with him and start anew, even thinking of registering for civil union. That's how infatuated he was with him. If his prescription hadn't ran out he might have been able to move on from the relationship, though with much difficulty. - he learned quite a bit of cooking in prison but became most interested in it when he applied for parole, as him and Elov made plans to live together. He was a decent cook before he was arrested but he tended to neglect feeding himself correctly, generally only eating real meals during family dinners and when eating outside. - his favorite food is black pudding with a simple side of mashed potatoes. Funnily enough, he does prefer the swedish blodpudding to the scottish one, though he likes both and did crave a full scottish breakfast as soon as he knew he would be released, which he did get to eat (though it paled next to the real thing). He is no picky eater and has always been eager to try new cuisine.

Lesley: - he currently has seven rats and an old Irish Wolfhound named Thaddeus that used to be the family dog. He cares for all of them as diligently as he tends to the garden and the orchard. He's most comfortable when he's surrounded by animals and plants, but he's also deeply lonely. - he only vaguely identifies as male, but it's mostly because he has trouble identifying as a person to begin with. His body feels foreign to him and he prefers not to see too much of it, stripping only to shower, where he tends to dissociate heavily. - he had trouble with people following the incident so he was home-schooled. - to this day, he feels uneasy being driven anywhere and prefers to be in control of the vehicle. He drives an old beat-up 1980 suzuki carry to work. - his grandfather was quite interested in "new" technology and would let him play on his computers (starting with a commodore 64). This is what got him into tinkering with computers. - his modus operandi is to befriend suicidal users online, offer to meet in person, drug them and slit their throat to offer them a quick death wether or not they still spoke of wanting to die when they did meet. - he was only nineteen when he first killed, making him the one who started the youngest, but he also is the one who has killed the least, as befriending his victims is slow and does not always work. - despite Elov thinking he is one, he does not considers himself a killer. On the other hand, he's more preoccupied with being unable to tell wether Elov does wish to die or not than with the fact that he has a killer under his roof. Elov's promiscuity is not helping with either, and Lesley is too touch-starved for reason to prevail. - his favorite food is curries in general and his grandma's hand pies which contains, you guessed it, curry. He has learned to make them and still do to this day. He also kept the habit of drinking 'Chocolate de Maní' (a sort of roasted peanut and cinnamon warm drink, which despite the name contains no cocoa) every week-end even after his grandparents passed. Ironically, even if he is ok with seafood, he dislikes fish. He's very set in his habits and does not really seek new flavors.

Right now, America is on the brink of a new era of extreme anti-abortion violence, one where radicals can terrorize women and doctors unchecked. This kind of dangerous free reign is right around the corner—not just in states with bans, but everywhere. And it’s been gift-wrapped by men who campaigned as abortion ‘moderates.’

On Thursday, Donald Trump pardoned nearly two dozen extremists convicted of attacking abortion clinics across the country. The activists, who our felon president called “peaceful” and “elderly,” forced their way into clinics, terrorized patients, and blocked them from entering the building for care. In Michigan, that included a woman whose pregnancy had just been diagnosed with a fatal abnormality and whose health was at risk. In DC, a patient was forced to climb through a window to access the building, while ‘pro-life’ activists refused to let another woman see a doctor even after she collapsed in pain. And the protesters that Republicans depict as praying grannies? One told a Manhattan clinic “we’re gonna terrorize you so good,” and crushed a staff member’s hand in a door. Another was found with a half a dozen fetuses hidden in her home. What Trump offered last week weren’t just pardons, they were permission.

In fact, both Trump and JD Vance promised at the March for Life that anyone who harasses patients or attacks clinics will “never have the government go after them ever again.” Vance told the crowd, “We stand with you.” That’s not a symbolic gesture or empty promise: Abortion, Every Day has discovered that on the very same morning of the march, more than thirty Republican legislators held a private meeting with anti-abortion activists where they pledged to repeal the FACE Act—the federal law that prohibits blocking or doing violence to a reproductive health clinic. At that event, U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs made their intent chillingly clear: “God demands justice,” he said. Meanwhile, as Republicans advance legislation to undo the FACE Act, the Department of Justice announced that they won’t enforce it anyway. Not unless there are “extraordinary circumstances...such as death.” In other words, anti-abortion activists can do anything they want short of murder.

It’s not a coincidence that this is all happening Trump’s first week in office. With the anti-abortion movement eager to roll out a slate of deeply unpopular restrictions, giving extremists the green light to attack patients and providers without fear of arrest is, at least in part, a way to buy the administration time and goodwill. But let’s be real: Trump has always loved emboldening bullies and inciting violence. This is the same man still pushing ‘post-birth’ abortion lie, fully aware it puts providers’ lives at risk. He thrives on this shit.

If and when the Trump administration does roll back access to abortion medication—whether through the Comstock Act, or FDA rules—more patients will be forced to seek care at clinics. And wherever patients go, more protesters will follow. That means clinic escorts and defenders will need our support more than ever, along with providers and abortion funds. But we’ll need to do more than the logistical work of ensuring people can get care—we have to make it clear, again and again, that everyone has the right to seek an abortion without fear, shame, or harassment from assholes.

I read a post today that I personally found quite upsetting, advocating to make invasive crabs popular to eat. It was treated like this great way to save the ecology l, but what about those individual crabs, those beings? It feels so unfair and it’s not their fault that they’re invasive! This was from what used to be one of my favourite blogs, that I have since unfollowed, but part of me regrets not having started a conversation. How would I go about that? This is clearly not someone who cares about these individual crabs and their lives, so how can I persuade them that this is not a good idea?

I see this argument put forward quite often, about various invasive and/or unwanted species. Interestingly, it is very rarely put forward by actual conservationists, and far more often by groups who have something to sell you (in this case, crab meat.)

The truth is that even aside from the fact that this would be completely inhumane, it also just wouldn't be very effective. If demand was created to the extent that these crabs were being fished in large numbers (which is what you need to actually reduce crab numbers), you then have a thriving commercial market, and companies whose profits depend on the abundance of those crabs. These corporations now have a profit motive not to solve the problem. That is also ignoring bycatch of native species, which may make the problem even worse.

We see this play out with deer overpopulation, people kill and eat these animals too, but numbers of roe and white-tailed deer are still kept artificially high precisely because people want to pay to hunt and eat them. Hunters and farmers then oppose the reintroduction of species who would naturally control the numbers of deer in the wild, as would crab fisheries as soon as selling invasive crab meat became a profitable enterprise.

We already know what works: Strict movement controls for live animals, fertility control, population monitoring, and more funding for solving the problem. Those who advocate that we should eat invasive species are asking the animals to pay the horrible price for what are invariably our mistakes, and simultaneously, for humans to benefit from the problem that we created in the first place.

15/03/2025-Beautiful panoramic views of the thriving farmland habitat at this precious nature reserve in some brilliant sunshine including bright yellow in flower gorse, a stunning Corn Bunting that we got excellent views of hearing one sing well too, sheep, some of the gorse and Roe Deers at Martin Down.

Other highlights included Red Kite, Kestrel, Stonechats, a surprise Little Egret sighting at this location, Mediterranean Gull heard, dandelion and dock leaves with Woodpigeon and daffodil good to see at home and Buzzard, primroses, snowdrops and daffodils good to see on the journey there and home.

Cool Heritage/Family Facts about Band of Brothers Characters:

George Luz had Portugese-descended parents and nine siblings.

Eugene Roe was Cajun, as shown in the show, but his early life was most likely more interesting than we know. Historical records say Eugene was born in 1922 in Bayou Chene (translated from French as Oak Bayou), which was a small, unincorporated community located in the Atchafalaya Basin, which is the largest swamplands in the United States.

Bayou Chene was a community settled in the 1830s, located approximately 40 miles north of Morgan City, Louisiana. The U.S. post office was established there in 1858. The settlers there ran a church, a school, a merchandise store and the post office, which were all located on the bayou. In the 1920s it had approximately 500 residents, most of whom had lived there for generations after settling there from other communities both within and outside of Louisiana. They were swampers, lumberjacks, trappers, farmers, fishermen and moss pickers.

Despite occasional flooding, Bayou Chene thrived until the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927 destroyed much of the community. This would have been when Eugene Roe was five years old.

The community rebuilt but declined after construction of the Atchafalaya Spillway levees and dredging of river channels caused repeated flooding of the community. While we know the Roes at one time relocated to Morgan City (Most likely due to the flooding), what used to be Bayou Chene now no longer exists, and now lies under 12 feet of silt. So when we talk about Eugene being bayou, the man was BAYOU.

Ronald Spiers was actually born in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Lewis Nixon's mother, Doris Ryer Nixon, was an American civic leader, particularly on the home front during World War II. She became a national vice-president of the American Women's Voluntary Services (AWVS) during the war. The AWVS was a key organization for coordinating volunteer activities in support of the war effort. She had founded the California chapter, and had served as its first president.

She was also the founder and president of Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc., and state commander of the California Cancer Society.

The reason Joseph Liebgott was good at haircuts was because his father was a barber. He also spoke the Austrian dialect of German, which was often confused with Yiddish by other military members.
