Finding one of the turtles asleep on the couch
Version: 🎞️TMNT Bayverse🎞️
Who hasn't fallen asleep on the couch at some point? It happens to all of us, it could even happen to turtles.
Tumblr media
⚔️Leonardo🍵
Like Donnie, it is very strange to see him asleep on the couch, but not impossible.
But for what you want, don't walk near this turtle if you see him collapsed on the couch.
Maybe you will say, why?
Well, Leo usually falls asleep on the couch only when he had a specifically heavy patrol and was also punished in the Hashi, and maybe you will say, What's wrong with that? Well, Leo ends a a little more tired than normal, which causes him to fall asleep, but also his reflexes to take over.
That's how it is.Walking near Leo when he is like this will probably only cause some accidental bumps. (Almost all in the abdomen and legs)
Casey was unlucky to find out after spending almost half an hour writhing in pain on the floor while he hugged his aching stomach.
Only Splinter is able to wake him up to go sleep in her room. (He is the only one with enough reflexes to avoid a blow)
Another thing, although it may not seem like it, Leo would be the guy with a very heavy sleep, Mikey could be playing his drums with all his energy, Donnie could be using one of his loudest tools, even Raph could be using the blender to prepare his protein shake, no one knows how Leo can sleep like that, but he'll wake up practically right away if a little bit of light hits his face.
Tumblr media
🥊Raphael🧸
He is one of those most likely to see you asleep on the couch.
Maybe there was a “Fast and Furious” movie marathon.
But everyone will know he's in the room by the loud snoring that echoes through the sewer.
No matter how hard you try to wake him up, it's just not possible.
Raph will just say 5 more minutes and he'll fall asleep again.
Although he is also an honest grump.
You could ask him anything and he'll grumble back at you.
And he will literally say anything you ask him.
Last time Mikey asked if he loved him (at first he just wanted to see him frown and take a picture), and in response he received an honest reading of how much she adored his little brother, no matter how many times she made him angry. (Mikey almost cried after that)
While asleep he is so honest that sometimes his brothers use him as a kind of psychologist.
Leo even apologizes for the times they have fought, Donnie sometimes lets out some insecurities, Mikey just wants to hear his brother say that he loves him.
But changing the topic.
If you want to wake up this big turtle, just move one of his weights and he'll be there in a second.He does not like the weight to be modified or altered if he has not been notified beforehand.
Do it and he'll be checking every weight he has for about an hour.
Tumblr media
⚛️Donatello ⚗️
Seeing him asleep is practically a miracle, because this adorable mad scientist doesn't sleep unless his body screams it at him.
So when you enter the lair and discover that the one on the couch is none other than Donnie, it's a huge surprise.
Of course, that also comes with certain caveats.
1. Don't try to wake him up or tell him to go to bed. (If you do, the thought of going back to sleep won't cross his mind again.)
2. Don't try to prank him when he's in that state. (Everyone learned the hard way that they shouldn't do it, and I'm talking about EVERYONE, even if you are their partner, revenge will come to you if you dare to do it)
3. Do not touch anything that has been left lying around.
The last one is the most important. Don't try to tidy it up, don't try to pick up the trash, don't even think about moving that plate with a half-eaten slice of pizza on it.
For heaven's sake, don't do it.
Because when Donnie wakes up and notices something different, he'll spend a full hour complaining that it wasn't a mess, it was a materialized brainstorm.
That's right, it seems that the empty soda can that Leo had thrown over had a purpose.
So if you don't want to have a dramatic Donnie, don't move anything around him.
Tumblr media
🎉Michelangelo🍕
He is the one we will always see asleep on the couch.
Most likely, he tried to defeat a final boss from his most recent video game. (Courtesy of April)
So sometimes you could see his fingers move.
Donnie discovered that it was a combo that Mikey creates in his head and he writes it down so when Mikey wakes up he applies it. (And he copies it for when he wants to have an advantage)
But you should be careful if he stayed up late because of a horror movie marathon.
Because at any moment you can hear him screaming as loud as his lungs allow... and then he falls asleep again.
That's something everyone has experienced when Mikey is asleep after a horror movie.
Leo almost always loses his balance due to his brother's unexpected scream, but in the end he considers it as involuntary training for his reflexes.
Raph ends up breaking his comic book, or his water bottles burst from the force with which he crushes them in surprise.
Donnie ends up breaking his keyboard, or an experiment explodes.

Wait,how much time have spent in the story from Chapter 1 to 12?!
I remembered Leo said 2k12 Leo was infected by krang just six hours ago
From chapter 1 to chapter 12 is roughly 20 hours.
Tumblr media
Their birthday party is obviously sometime at night. Leo says that they had pizza for dinner and cake, so their party probably was an hour or so. While they’re out on the roof tops you can clearly see it’s nighttime, maybe 10 or 11pm. A few hours after that, let’s say 1 am, they discover the Kraang and fall into the Rise Universe.
Tumblr media
Leo states that it’s probably around the same time there as back home, so they only will have about 4-5 hours or so until sunrise. They meet the Rise turtles, and after some pizza end up crashing in one of their room for the rest of the night. Well, accept for Leo and Raph, who probably only slept for 20 to 30 minutes before going off on their next adventure.
Tumblr media
You can see in this page that the sun is rising from the East. It’s probably around 5-6am when the harbor get’s blown up.
Tumblr media
While that’s happening, Mikey and Donnie even say that they haven’t been sleeping for that long, and that it’s about morning.
Tumblr media
Later when 12 April and Casey meet Rise Leo, she explains basically everything I just said. “They disappeared sometime last night after their birthday party. We thought they had gone home, but this morning we discovered that they hadn’t been back since we last saw them.”
Tumblr media
A short while after that, the Donnies meet up with Casey Leo and April and you can see in this cut to a little blurb of Draxum that it’s the insufferably early hour of 9am.
There aren’t many clues to infer durning Leo and Raph’s fight, but as the author I will tell you that it’s 10am when they get their mystic weapons and another hour until they get to the abandoned subway station. Their fight doesn’t actually last that long, maybe 10 to 15mins, but it’s very action packed. A little while after that and the others come. So we’ll say it’s maybe 11 ish when it cuts to them on the train headed for Splinter April and Casey’s location.
Tumblr media
Splinter states that they’ve been waiting over and hour for them to come. They were most likely supposed to meet there at the same time and Rise Donnie admits that in addition to poor scheduling, they also had a few “technical difficulties” (12 Raph and Leo). By now it’s 1 or 2 in the afternoon, and they’re plotting their next move.
Tumblr media
When Donnie is talking with Splinter about Leo’s issues, he estimates that the pills he gives Splinter will last a few hours, so you assume that the entirety of the TCRI debacle was 3 to 4 hours.
Tumblr media
A little after that, you can see in this panel that the sun is up in the sky, though not quite perfectly, it’s early afternoon and there’s a storm brewing. (If I’m totally honest I fudged the sun a little because it looks cooler like this)
Once again, there are very few clues as to the amount of time that has passed during their adventure in TCRI. And even afterwards it’s hard to tell because of the heavy storm. I will just say that they spend roughly 4 hours there. This is including the time it took to get there, the time inside, and the time after when the building explodes and 12 Mikey is gone.
Chapter 10: Retribution spans approximately and hour and a half. The bit you mentioned is in Retribution
Tumblr media
Rise Leo is clueing you in on how long it’s been since 12 Leo was under Krang’s control, and also flabbergasted by the fact that it’s been such a short amount of time and Leo is already on his feet trying to save the day. Of course he doesn’t know about Healing Hands, hence why he takes Leo’s exhaustion as he’s in pain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the Leos get’s back with Mikey, it’s sunset, around 7pm. It’s not super obvious in Retribution, but by the beginning of Hell on Earth the sky is washed in sunset colors and you can see the sun setting in the west in the backgrounds.
The Crystal Shards is basically just a continuation of of Hell on Earth with not that much time passing between them.
I don’t usually make a ton of references to the exact time in my stories, but there are lots of ways you can sort of guess what time it is and how long it’s been. I won’t say I make it easy though🤣
Good question! :]

Somnambulant Soulmates (rise Donnie x gn reader)
rise Donnie x gn reader
Prologue, Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6
Word Count: 4873
Content: movie night, fight scene, brief text messages (it was a doozy to write but still really fun!)
Chapter Artwork: Here
Waking up before noon was a chore.
Not necessarily because you stayed up late, also not because you forgot to set an alarm, but the combination of the two made last night’s sleep enticingly prisonlike.
You only awoke when your bedroom seemed suspiciously bright, your rest suspiciously long. Having work at noon and not wanting to miss it, you shot up in bed, frantically padding for your phone in its place beside you.
Checking the time revealed that it was a comfortable while away from when you had to be at work, not even eleven yet.
Checking your telephone also revealed numerous notifications filling up the screen.
Not that it was odd for you to wake up to a bunch of text messages, but yeah, it was.
When you opened your phone, you saw that the group chat that had been made at April’s birthday party was the culprit.
Shoot. You’d almost forgotten that it even existed. Outside of the pictures from April’s party and a few memes, not much had been sent.
That was, until last night, apparently.
You scrolled to the top of the new messages, getting to work on reading through the slew of them awaiting you.
Today 1:58 AM
Leo: so I recognize that we’re all busy people/yōkai/mutants/unspecified, but we’ve got some free time tonight if you guys would be game for a movie night?
Mikey: Yeah baby! I’m SO down!
Leo: …
Leo: we’re the ones inviting people over so this was more for everyone else, you know?
Mikey: oh. right. knew that.
Today 3:17 AM
April: I’m game! After like seven because your girl has work :))
Donnie: Aren’t you on your fifth job this week?
April: Isn’t your forehead on its fifth inch?
Raph: f
Leo: f
Mikey: f
Today 4:23 AM
Casey: HECK YEAH, I’LL BRING SNAKCS.
Casey: *SNAKCN.
Sunita: You can do it Cass
Casey: **SNACKS!!!
Sunita: It’s a yes from me btw
Casey: Your sarcasm is not appreciated, goopy one.
Casey: Junior is with me right now. I hope you find it suitable that I have invited him along.
Leo: wait, Jr’s not in here? lemme add him rq
Leo added an Unknown number
Maybe Junior: A movie night sounds great! I’m assuming we already have plans to get pizza? If not, I’ll gladly pick some up.
Mikey: You /know/ we’ve got pizza covered, baby! All you need to do is show up
Maybe Junior: Sounds great!
As you caught up on the conversation, you thought about your schedule for the day. Sure, you had work, but only until six, and you didn’t have anything the next day. Some social interaction sounded nice, even if all of the people you were hanging out with all seemed to stay up until ungodly hours.
Today 10:48 AM
You: gosh dang are all of you nocturnal?
You: also yes, I’m absolutely down for a movie night! where at?
April: Remember that one patisserie we ate at in SoHo? Just meet me outside of there and I’ll lead you the rest of the way ;)
You: bet
With that, you rolled yourself off your mattress, slapped on some jeans, a shirt, beanie, fanny pack, boots, snagged some breakfast for the road, and started off on your way to work.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The day at work proved drudgerous.
Thankfully, nothing terrible happened, and you didn’t have many bad interactions with customers, but it was so painfully dull. It had been insipid, realistically, since April had left, but it provided a steady pay and got you by. Such is the life of a retail worker.
The boredom you experienced at work was quickly warped into excitement as your shift ended and your walk to meet with your best pal began.
After a brisk journey, you landed in front of the patisserie that you and April had visited only a few weeks prior. You scanned the area, grinning as your eyes landed on her leaning against the brick wall by the building’s entrance. No sooner than you noticed her, she did the same with you.
“Hey!” April waved you over.
“Hey!” you responded as you walked over to her, taking in the familiar area around you. Coffee shops, hot pot stops, standard commercial buildings and advertisements galore, but not many residences.
“Hey April, where do these pals of yours live anyways?” you asked, still surveilling the nearby edifices.
“Oh. About that…” she started, and you looked at her.
She seemed nervous, almost.
“It’s fine if they live a while away. I could use the exercise.”
She clicked her tongue on the roof of her mouth anxiously. So it wasn’t that.
“What is it?” you asked, the smile you had slowly draining from your face.
“It’s nothing bad, just- let me show you.”
April slipped around the corner and into a dim, adjacent alley while you trailed her like a confused sheep. When she stopped abruptly and looked at the ground, you came up beside her and followed her gaze.
You started rethinking everything that had brought you to this point as you both stared down a slightly ajar manhole.
“The sewers.”
“The sewers,” she confirmed grimly.
“No, you’ve got to be kidding right now. Wherever the hidden cameras-slash-film crew are, they can come out now…”  You paused. You didn’t truly expect anyone or anything to happen, but it sure would’ve made you feel better if it did. However, after a moment filled with the distant sounds of cars and people, you met her eyes again. “We’re really going in there?”
“Yep.”
“Does it not smell like, I don’t know, sewage?”
April snorted. “Oh, no. There are measures put in place to spruce the lair up. We’re talking industrial-grade air fresheners. I helped Donnie put ‘em up years ago.”
“... So it did smell?”
“Man, just get in the sewers!”
With that impetus, you cautiously helped her kick the cover askew, then open, and tentatively placed yourself on the first rung of a ladder built in a wall. Before you continued your descent, you narrowed your eyes at your companion.
“If this is some kind of trick, I swear-”
This time April didn’t indulge you with words. One sight of her deadpan sent you carefully yet swiftly working your way down into the sewers.
Despite being underneath the ground, it was still bright enough to see in front of you, see the rungs methodically moving up as you went down. You attributed your ability to see to the light creeping in through the entrance above, so when April followed you down and worked the cover back in place, you were immediately plunged into darkness.
“Woah, it’s, uh, a bit dark down here,” you called, definitely not clinging desperately to the ladder.
“Oh, right! You’re not really used to this,” April laughed lightly.
“You could say that.”
“Here.” After a moment, a bright light shone from above you. April’s flashlight. In the now illuminated cement structure, you looked up to see her flash you a smile. You mustered up an uneasy one back at her and crept the rest of the way down.
You almost collapsed in relief at being back on solid, albeit sewer-water-dampened, ground. At least it didn’t smell like sewage, just like she had said.
April landed beside you swiftly, giving you a nudge before bounding down a tunnel. “Come on. It’s this way!”
You sighed before coming up beside her.
“Once again, I feel I just need to ask for legal purposes, this isn’t an elaborate hoax or scheme for my demise, right?”
“I promise! Look, just relax.This’ll be fun!”
“Alright.”
You two meandered through the tunnels in a comfortable silence, the only sound coming from the echoes of your steps and the constant drips of faraway water. With how many chambers you had moved through, you contemplated confirming that she knew the way, but the confidence with which she walked convinced you well enough.
Eventually, a light came into view at the end of the passageway, and you could faintly discern the sound of indistinguishable chatter.
“Right here,” April exulted, jogging up to the exit and stepping out into the light.
You tailed her. As you drank in the scene around you, it was drastically contrary to what you would expect of a sewer dwelling.
The room had the spaciousness and height of a gothic church, though the decor was certainly less ornate. In lieu of flying buttresses or stained glass, the architecture in the lair consisted of graffitied walls, string lights and drainage pipes, which presumably led to more rooms. For an underground home, it was very bright and comely. The most notable feature of the room, however, was the huge skate ramp in the center of the room, the deck almost reaching the ceiling.
“See? Not a slaughterhouse.” April grinned.
You playfully raised a brow. “The night’s still young.”
You took to surveying the ground floor for anyone else.
Off to the side of the grand atrium stood Raph, Casey, and some kid who you’d never seen before. You could only presume him to be that ‘Junior’ character from the group chat.
Well, maybe you weren’t giving him enough credit. He wasn’t a kid, per say, as his built physique and the stubble on his chin made evident, but his bright eyes and how exuberantly he spoke to Casey accentuated his youthful appearance.
“Hey y’all!” April called as you walked over to the three.
Raph and Casey both greeted you with enthusiastic grins, Casey additionally giving you a light slug on the arm.
The new one, however, had a much more interesting reaction. His eyes widened upon seeing you, but maybe he just wasn’t expecting to see a new person. Reasonable, you supposed.
You decided to put your best foot forward, offering a hand shake and your name.
After a moment of just staring at you blankly, he blinked himself back into the present and shook your hand firmly.
“Casey Jones. Nice to see- or, meet, you,” he smiled widely.
“So you’re Casey?” you looked Cassandra mischievously. “And you’re Casey? Are you two related or is that just a coincidence?”
All ongoing conversation stopped for all of them to exchange a look.
April cleared her throat. “Well, about that-”
They proceeded to tell you the craziest story you’d heard in your life. They detailed how when, a couple years back, the Krang invaded and ransacked the city, the kid before you had been portaled from the future by older versions of your current turtle friends. The icing on top of the cake? Casey, the new one, is Cassandra’s son.
“What in the back to the future- you’re from the future?! Dude, you are from the future. That’s the most- I don’t want to say ridiculous but- it’s the wildest thing I’ve ever heard. Did you know me? Ooh, am I cool? I hope I’m cool. Also, no pressure to answer anything, just know that this is literally the most excited I’ve been all day.”
“Yeah, I knew you,” he nodded exuberantly with a bittersweet gleam in his eye. “The coolest commander I ever knew, aside from Commander O’Neil.”
“Commander?! Man, that’s wicked! Sorry if bringing this stuff up is weird or sad.”
“It’s fine,” he reassured. “It is odd seeing you, but I’ve gotten used to it. And it’s sort of nice.”
You smiled warmly at him just as the others’ conversation caught your attention. Casey mentioned something about everyone already being in the projector room, then April brought something up about getting this movie night on the road. You couldn’t agree more.
“So, should we head over there?” you proposed.
“We’ll grab the snacks and meet up with you!” Raph flashed you a toothy grin before smirking at Casey. Original Casey, not Jr. “Race you to the kitchen!”
“You’re going down, reptile!”
The two bounded off. You, April, and other Casey stood stupefied.
“Us too, future boy!” April challenged before breaking into a sprint after Raph and Casey. Casey Jr. shook his head lightheartedly before racing after them.
Just as you thought you’d be left standing like a deer in headlights until they returned, two giggling figures emerged from the sewer tunnel you’d come through, one blue, one orange.
“Hey Mikey, Leo!” you waved
“What’s up?” Leo smiled.
“Not much- woah!” you exclaimed. Mikey had already ran up to you and was currently squeezing your ribs in a tight hug.
“Hi,” he said, grinning widely.
“Hello.” You patted his back once, twice, awkwardly. “I think everyone’s either grabbing snacks or already went to the projector room, wherever that is.”
“We’ll show you the way!” Mikey was practically bouncing. “We’re gonna watch that new JJ movie! It’s a sequel to Pluto Vacation Part 77, but a prequel to Part 4,” Mikey explained exuberantly as he all but dragged you toward the projector room.
“Arguably the worst JJ movie, but let’s not delve into that right now,” Leo muttered.
“JJ?” you slanted your head.
“Jupiter Jim!” Mikey clarified. He let out an audible gasp and stopped walking when he saw you were still confused. “You don’t know Jupiter Jim! Omigosh! Wha- How? I thought I knew you!” The box turtle shook your shoulders.
“Easy, Miguel,” Leo moved Mikey’s hands off of your arms. “It’s not their fault they’re uneducated.”
Your stupefied expression soured. “I was about to thank you for coming to my defense, but I think you just made it worse.”
“Shhh, it’s alright. Don’t you fret, we’ll get you fixed up in about 800 films, reboots, and comics. Onward!” The two brothers started back up on their way to the movie.
“What? How many?” you asked, exasperated. You did not have the time nor attention span for that.
Leo and Mikey continued walking with you tagging along. The red eared slider just shrugged. “Chill, we’re not getting through all of them tonight. We’ll marathon as many as we can, though. I think the one we’re starting on works well enough chronologically.”
“I’ll take your word on it.”
You entered the projector room. The only person who was currently there was Sunita, though you almost didn’t recognize her in her yōkai form at first. You’d only seen it one other time at April’s, and you had lost your mind when she turned into a sludgy green puddle of googlyschmootz. You’d thought that she’d spontaneously combusted, but nope. That was just her insanely cool true form.
She was seated on the ground, eagerly staring at the projection of the menu screen of the Jupiter Jim movie on the wall. Behind her sat an orange, worn out sofa, and to the right of it was a gray bean bag chair.
“Sunita!” Mikey exclaimed, ran up to her, and took a seat beside her while Leo covered himself with a blanket on the couch and scrolled on his phone. “How long have you been watching the menu screen?”
“An hour,” she said nonchalantly, still not daring to take her eye off of it. “The score is just so good! I physically cannot look away.”
You squinted. “But you don’t need to look to hear the- nevermind.” You settled down in front of the bean bag, using the chair as support for your back.
Once you were seated, the sound of footsteps fastly approaching signaled the arrival of more people.
Casey ran in first, bags of popcorn tucked under her arms, followed by April, with chips, Casey Jr., soda that certainly wouldn’t explode once it was opened, and finally Raph, arms full of candy. All of them were out of breath; you inferred they raced here like they had earlier. Casey boasting about her superior skills proved your hypothesis.
Raph muttered something about having the most to carry as he sulkily plopped down on the couch. Casey landed between him and Leo, still smiling victoriously.
Casey Jr. set down the ticking time bomb that was the carbonated beverages he had sprinted through the lair with on the ground beside him as he took a seat by Mikey.
April clicked a couple of finger guns your way and sat beside you. She also decided to use the bean bag chair to rest against.
You were about to propose starting the movie before you realized someone was missing.
“Wait, where’s Donnie?” you whispered to April.
“Probably in his lab. Push comes to shove, we send Mikey to sucker him out of his room.”
“Is the lab here?”
“Yep. Just on the other side of the lair.”
“I might be reconsidering my whole stance on the whole ‘living in the sewers’ thing.”
April laughed lightly.
Suddenly, you felt the bean bag you two were resting against gain another commuter, the action bouncing you both.
You tipped your head back, meeting eyes with a nonchalant Donatello resting behind you.
“Personally, I recommend it. Technically not tax evasion if the government can’t find you,” he shrugged.
“It also helps that they don’t know you exist,” April jabbed lightheartedly.
“For legal reasons, I’m gonna pretend I heard none of that,” you averted your gaze jokingly, slowly tipping your head back down.
You heard your companions snicker, then joined them in their laughter.
Soon, once Raph saw that everyone was present, he hit the buttons on the projector until the movie started playing.
While the movie opened up on, you guessed it, Pluto, snacks and drinks began to proliferate throughout the room and even eventually made their way to you three on the bean bag.
The movie was fairly obviously made on a low budget, as the shoddy camera direction and presence of a boom microphone for five minutes showed, but it was self aware about its campiness. Sure, the lore and character relationships were an absolute cluster, but it was still entertaining. Plus, the prosthetics used for the aliens looked phenomenal, and some scenes were genuinely eerie.
All in all, it was an enjoyable watch, made even more so by April’s occasional humorous comment and Donnie researching behind the scenes facts when something seemed intriguing to him.
As the credits rolled, you took a big stretch.
“That was a bit creepier than I thought a Jupiter Jim movie would be. Consider my timbers, shivered,” you admitted.
“I thought we reserved ‘shivering timbers’ for nautical excursions, same as ‘ahoy,’” Donnie commented. Man, he could really work sarcasm into any conversation. It was impressive, really.
“Hey, you can just drop it now, Don-Tron… That ship’s sailed.” Leo smirked.
“Wow. Boat puns. Stooping low today.” Donnie crossed his arms.
“Please, if we were stooping low, we’d bring up your internet history,” Mikey jumped in on the shenanigans. “But I’d much rudder keep this civil.”
“...”
“Continuing on,” Raph changed the subject. “I guess Pluto Vacation IV makes the most logical sense?”
Donnie and April cheered. Mikey and Leo groaned.
“Hey!” April exclaimed. “We agreed not to trash on each other’s favorites.” She then gestured to you. “Plus, they’ve never seen it, so we’re doing this. Got it?”
“Fine,” Leo and Mikey spoke unison, the former rolling his eyes as Raph placed in the DVD and started the film.
The film started, once again, with a killer score, just as Sunita had said. Maybe she had a point about not being able to peel your vision from the screen-
Suddenly, a horrendous beeping noise shrieked from right behind your head, causing you to snap your head around immediately.
“What is that horrible- oh wait that’s me.” Donnie tapped on the tech gauntlet on his forearm and made the alarm cease. At the same time, someone paused the movie.
“What was that?” you exclaimed, cautiously uncovering your ears.
“Hmm,” the turtle hummed. “Seems like we’ve got a 2100-47 in progress.”
Somewhere in the distance, you could hear crickets chirp.
“Oh, right, no one reads the manual. Art heist, going on right now, Hudson Street.”
You looked around the room, wondering what the heck any of that meant, but everyone else seemed determined, ready, like superheroes.
“Wait wait wait, what just happened? What was that look?” Silence met you. “Wait, you guys are trying to fight crime? Right now? Seriously?”
You looked to April, who only smirked in response.
“Dang you guys are not slash j right now,” you remarked, gaining a small laugh from the soft shell behind you. “Do I have to stay here or..?”
“I don’t think so,” April spoke up.
“There are plenty of us. What could happen?” Leo pitched in.
“Besides, in the future, you were always able to hold your own,” Casey Jr. beamed. Okay, if you had him backing you up, the guy who knew a future version of you, you couldn’t let him down.
“Alright. I’m ready. At the very least, I’ll be moral support,” you shrugged.
“That’s the spirit!” Casey shouted. “Now let’s go!”
Just like that, your peaceful movie night turned into all of you rushing through the main room of the lair, those with weapons and masks grabbing their respective tools, and climbing up to the surface.
Immediately, Raph, Casey, and Sunita began scaling the rooftops in the direction of Hudson. Leo used his blades to form an electric blue portal, leaving a tingling sensation in the air after he leapt through. Mikey took out a chained instrument and, after latching it to lampposts, swung through the night. The mechanical shell on Donnie’s back converted into a jet pack-adjacent piece of technology with a seat, allowing for him and April to whirl off in the direction of the fighting.
You stood still. You had nary a clue what to do or where to go or- just about anything, really.
You looked over at the only person still beside you and wondered how Casey Jr. planned to get over there.
He looked back at you brightly and stepped beside you.
“Hold on!” Before you could question why, the youth revealed a grappling hook-esque contraption on his wrist, tucked the other arm around you, aimed at a lamppost, and sent you two soaring through the air.
You instinctively clung to the poor lad, who was somehow managing his own and your weight. The wind lashed at your face harshly as you dipped and soared, swinging off of every suitable lamppost or rooftop you passed.
As soon as you started to feel ill, you two landed on solid ground in an alleyway. However, the dread from that was quickly replaced by what you saw there.
Numerous goons were there, some loading crates of presumably stolen items into a large vehicle. The others were already engaged in fighting off your friends.
Their faces seemed unnatural, borderline demonic, and the fact that all of the creatures  had the same exact face did not make it any less uncanny.
The Caseys and April were steadily beating them down with hockey sticks and a baseball bat respectively. Raph and Sunita had seemed to head straight for the truck to salvage the stolen art. Donnie, Leo, and Mikey appeared to be pure agents of chaos, distracting and fighting goons with any means necessary.
“Standard goons. We’ve so got this.” Leo confidently utilized his blades, trapping one of the enemy in particular in a loop of falling infinitely to dizzy them. You weren’t so sure. There were a lot of them, and you were almost getting taken out by your own side.
“Heads up!”
You barely had time to duck out of the way of Mikey’s weapon, a ball attached to chains that were literally on fire, as it whipped just over your head.
“Heads down would be more appropriate!” you called.
You stumbled forward in an attempt to catch your balance. You were barely able to prevent yourself from falling, but you managed to stay upright. No sooner than you steadied yourself, a low hum emitted from the space right in front of you. The air vibrated tensely; it reminded you of how Leo’s portal felt earlier, but that turtle in particular was already busy behind you.
Just as everything clicked in your brain, another portal tore through the air in front of you. This one was colossal, filling up the entire alleyway in its amber glow.
Your breath quickened as you cumbersomely took one step back, then another. Your wide eyes remained transfixed on the gateway in front of you.
Out of the otherworldly portal emerged a ginormous spider, about as tall as the portal itself, four legs acting as legs, the others similar to arms. Well, as similar as spindly spider limbs can be to arms. The arachnid’s six glowing red eyes bore deeply into yours, her jagged teeth curled delightfully into a wicked grin.
Perspiration permeated every pore of your being. Every limb went stiff, each muscle rendered taut. You probably would have screamed if not for fear of bile rising up your throat instead.
“Big Mama…”
“Oh, what a delectable surprise!” Big Mama delighted, her uppity, whimsical tone in such stark contrast with her imposing demeanor. “So many turtle-y boos, and- oh, this is pos-a-bubbly splendiferous!”
Her eyes narrowed in on you, but she didn’t take any action. She simply surveyed you, then the damage her lackeys had taken so far, then what all had been recovered, before they fell back on you.
“Come now, my minions!” The spider ordered coolly, almost excitedly. “We have far more pertinent prerogatives.”
Obediently, immediately, the identical servants ceased their fighting with everyone and filed through the portal behind Big Mama.
With one last nefarious smirk, she disappeared just as she had emerged: in a flash of auburn light.
All of you stood tensely. No one so much as breathed as if an action as insignificant as that would somehow summon the gargantuan spider and her lackeys again.
“So…” Leo’s lighthearted timbre cut through the atmosphere, “who’s up for Part 79?”
“Leo, not the time!” Raph corrected, and the two started to squabble.
“I think I’m gonna call it a night,” you said shakily.
“You okay?” April placed a hand on your shoulder
“Yeah. I’m all good! Just had enough excitement,” you shrugged coolly out of her touch, hoping that you were concealing your panic better than you thought you were. “I’m right around the corner so I can just walk over-”
“I could walk with you.”
You paused, looked at who had said that. Donnie. You tilted your head at him, fairly certain that everyone else was just as perplexed.
He retracted about as much as he could into his shell at the attention. “For safety, of course. Because, you know, that was a really oddly timed exit and they could be waiting nearby and-”
“I get it, I get it,” you reassured, sparing him from digging a deeper grave. “I’ll gladly take the escort.” You turned to address the rest of the bunch. “Thank you very much for having me over, guys, it’s been real. A-A little too real, maybe, but fun either way. Goodnight, gang!”
You waved goodbyes and exited the alleyway, a purple-clad turtle in tow. You walked silently, still hardly processing what you had just witnessed. His presence was still pleasant, even if no words were exchanged.
Only when you were about a block away from your home did you speak. “So, do you guys experience stuff like that all the time or is the physical embodiment of arachnophobia a special occurrence?”
“Yeah, that was pretty much the usual, but Big Mama’s just about the worst of them. It used to be Baron Draxum, the warrior-alchemist-sheep man who made us, but he’s been rehabilitated.”
“Pardon? Your dad’s a sheep man?”
“No, my dad’s actually a rat. Draxum’s just my creator, father at best.”
“Oh, okay.” You nodded along as if you grasped any of that. But if he was a turtle, then how would a rat or a sheep- oh, you were reading into it too much. It didn’t matter though, as you had already arrived in front of your complex. You walked up to the porch and turned toward him.
“Thanks for walking me back. I appreciate it.”
“Yeah, yeah, don’t mention it.”
You two paused. Were you supposed to walk away? Have more conversation?
After a moment of just looking at him, you gave him a small salute. “I’ll see you around, ‘Tello-”
“Wait!” he said before speaking more quietly. “I made a prototype of the technology I told you about at the library, if you want to come over and check it out sometime?”
“Oh, would I?” you beamed. “That sounds wonderful. I’m free tomorrow morning, if that works for you?”
“Y-Yeah, tomorrow’s great.” He smiled brightly back. “Great!”
“Does eleven sound good?”
“Eleven works.”
“Cool.”
“Cool.” He clicked his tongue, rocked back and forth on his heels.
“I’ll see you then.” You did finger guns, internally cursing yourself for it.
“I bid you adieu.”
“Right back at you. Goodnight!”
“Goodnight.” He finally made his way off the porch before shooting off into the sky with his battle shell, and you could finally head up to your place.
That was quite possibly the most awkward farewell you’d ever had. Very sweet, yes, but awkward nonetheless.
At the very least, you’d made it home in one piece. You couldn’t wait to see him- you meant, see his invention tomorrow.
METRONOME OF AFFECTION (2012 Raphael Hamato/Reader) Warnings: some pining, some light insecurity, lots of fluff, friends to lovers word count:1794 notes: tumblr wouldnt let me post this all at once so i was forced to break it up.
Protecting a city as massive and crime filled as New York was far from an easy task, no matter how many people were on the team, and in some cases, the team could add more to his plate than they took anything off of it. From small annoyances, and petty arguments to full on battles, it didn't take long to wear Raphael down, he could feel his patience falling away from him like loose scutes. Every little inconvenience and setback sticking to him like algae on his shell. By the time that the bright moon, clouded by the fog and smoke rising from the city, had begun to set over the skyline, Raph's feet were dragging with every step, his very bones ached, and what risked becoming a permanent scowl had carved itself onto his face, his mouth curving downward, pulling awkward lines down his jaw from his beak. The group had all been heading towards their go-to sewer cap, located in a small, cramped alley in the Italian district, right next to a small Mom-and-Pop pizzeria that they had April and Casey frequenting on their behalf. The closer they got to their equivalent of a doorstep, the more Raph's appetite lessened and a strong sense of dread set into his chest. He did not want to end his less-than-ideal night with going back to the lair, with people who has spent the past six hours doing nothing but getting on his nerves, only to brood and stew in his misery, holed up in his room or the dojo until the stars rose yet again as the next evening dawned, where they would all rinse and repeat their ass-kicking and name-taking routine, he needed an escape, and he knew exactly where to go. He had stopped walking, letting his brothers and friends build a gap between them as he slowly melded with the shadows, turning and heading east. After five minutes or so, he would send them a text, just before he arrived at his destination, letting his family know that he was okay, and that it was just a bit early for him to crawl back to the sewers to hide from the world again. Pausing after sending the text, letting the dim blue-light from the screen minimally illuminate his face, he hesitated on their fire escape. The window led into their living room, and he could tell that there was not a single light on in their apartment, save for a small night light kept plugged into the hallway outlet, so that they didn't trip if they had to get up in the middle of the night, as they so often did. The last thing he wanted to do was disturb their sleep, he knew that with everything they had going on in their life, that they weren't getting nearly enough, and yet he couldn't stop himself from at least slipping in to use the first aid kit they kept underneath their bathroom sink, and making sure that they were okay. He placed his fingers underneath the window, and let out an exasperated sigh when it lifted open without resistance. The number of times he had warned them to keep all their windows locked was as impossible to count as the stars with the naked eye. He faced the evil of the city every night, he knew what hid in the shadows, he knew the monsters that would give anything to hide in their closet or under their bed, he could be counted among them, though for contrasting reasons to the other freaks and low lives. Silently crawling through their window, with some struggle due to his sheer size, he made his way to the kitchen first, grabbing a glass of water, and some of the snacks they had begun buying once Raphael's visits became more frequent. He smiled to himself in the dark of the kitchen, his heart touched at seeing that they had restocked his favorite snacks. After having a quick bite, he snuck into the bathroom, taking out the first aid kit an patching himself up where needed, which fortunately for him, was not much, he hadn't gotten more than a few cuts, and only had to remove two bullets. He slid the kit back into the cupboard and shut the door behind him, walking as quickly as he quietly could towards the end of the hall, where their bedroom was.
The door was closed, but he could hear their soft breathing behind the door. Their breaths were slow and even, and he was sure that they were in a deep sleep. He felt as though he shouldn’t intrude, but they had always told him that he was always welcome, no matter the time or the day, and maybe, he thought, he should just do a quick check to make sure a necklace they forgot to take off wasn’t choking them and that there weren’t any intruders or creepy-crawlies hiding in the room, waiting for the perfect moment. And so, he slowly opened their bedroom door, cringing at the low squeak that resulted. He froze, waiting for any sign that he had disturbed them, but their breathing did not change, and they only slightly shifted. It wasn’t the first time that he had shown up in the middle of the night, and though he always felt so guilty about it, he knew how it usually ended, with them tucked close to his plastron, as the two cuddled close underneath the comforter, drifting off to sleep, with only a small stream of light creeping in through a small crack in the blinds. And yet, though this was far from his first time entering without prior notice, he was afraid. Afraid that it would be the last straw, that they would turn him away, tired of his company, tired of his existence. Despite his fear, the turtle took a step into their room, and then another. He walked around the perimeter of the room, checking the closet, the blinds, and any other potential hiding spots, before making his way over to the side of the bed. He did not lift the covers, just stood there, blocking the small bit of window light, and casting a shadow over their form. They looked so peaceful that he couldn’t help but just stop and stare, unable to fathom how someone as gruff and rough around the edges as him, someone with a shell even harder than their head, could end up with someone who made them feel so soft. Looking down at his friend, the one he had loved for what felt like several lifetimes before his own, he felt a sense of hopelessness. He loved being close to them, and yet he was so sure that they could never feel anything more than platonic, if even that, for him. Sometimes his brain turned its rudeness towards him, yelling at him that they only ever kept him around out of the kindness of their heart, out of pity, that he was a charity case, that they would never willingly want to be with a mutant such as him. In a moment where he wanted to be close enough to crawl inside their skin, but was to fearful of the rejection, he could only grant himself any sort of reprieve from the tightening of his heart, by lightly brushing his finger along their face, tracing swirls on their cheek. Being with them was as torturous as it was heavenly, they gave him a safe haven when he needed an escape, but with their gift of hospitality, their bright smile and caring eyes had planted a seed of sickly sweetness deep within him. He didn’t know how they had managed to reach through his plastron to tug directly at his heart strings, puppeteering him like a string marionette, but they had and there was no one else he would rather have such control over him. And just as he was about to let his hopelessness consume him and leave, their eyes slowly blinked open, their head lolling to face him as their gaze followed his arm up to his shoulder, jaw, then face. A sleepy, almost drunk-like smile graced their features, and his heart swelled. In a moment of vulnerability, they had smiled at him, so genuinely he was convinced that it couldn’t have been an act of pity.
“Hey, Big Guy.” The exhaustion seeped into their words, slurring them. His voice caught in his throat, and he coughed, clearing his throat.
“Hey.” He replied, trying to pull his hand away from their face, unsuccessfully, as they grabbed his wrist and tugged them towards them, lifting up the covers for him to crawl under. He sat down on the side of the bed, undoing the wraps on his feet and hands, and taking of his belt an harnesses, finally taking off the bandana as well, before finally climbing into bed with them. It was a small bed, twin size at best, which did not leave much personal space between them. He hovered his hands on his side, until they shifted forward, hugging him as they buried their face in his shoulder. “Sorry for waking ya,’ Doll.” They shook their head, nuzzling into him some more in the process.
“You’ve got nothing to be sorry for, Raph. You know I’m always happy to have you. It’s been too long.” He gave a light chuckle, caving to the cuddles they both craved, and pulling them even closer to him.
“It’s been three days.”
“Exactly, that’s far too long to be without my love.” Raphael sputtered, and he was sure that if reptiles could blush, that he would be red as the first roses, dyed with the blood of Aphrodite herself.
“You love me? Like, love me, as in, a more-than-friends kinda way?” He couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“’Course I love you, Raphael, you think I’d let anyone else break into my apartment at five in the morning to wake me up for a cuddle sesh? You’re my everything.” As embarrassing as it was, he could feel his tail thump against the mattress behind him.
“You’re my everything too.” Raphael replied. He wanted to tell them that he loved them too, but the words were too heavy in his throat, and too scary for him to let escape just yet, so he settled for mimicking their last sentence, and lowering his beak to gently press against their forehead, to mimic a kiss as closely as he was capable of with his beak. Giving them a tight squeeze, he shuffled even closer to them, nuzzling the top of their head, and drifting off to sleep, with their hearts synching to beat together as a metronome of their affection.
Rise headcanons bc I’m bored at work
-Mikey is a vegetarian. He tried salami once and hated it, has refused to touch meat since
-Leo and Mikey were warriors cats kids (no I will not elaborate)
-Leo was the first out of all of them to speak, his first word was “Papa”. Donnie followed soon after, but he spoke a full sentence like “father, I require the sustenance acquired from chickie nuggie” and it scared the shit out of Splinter
-Donnie and Leo play Rock Paper Scissors every time they’re asked which one is older
-As kids Donnie and Leo were neck and neck for height, but they measured on their 10th birthday and Donnie was taller and has been taller since
-They all picked their birthdays when they were old enough to talk coherently, Raph let Mikey pick his birthday and Leo and Donnie argued over when their birthday was for 2 hours straight until Splinter got fed up and made them each pick a number, one got to pick the month and the other got to pick the day
-Raph adores romance movies, him and April often have movie nights where they watch rom coms and stuff like that together
-Mikey crawled everywhere until he was 5, then randomly got up and just started walking normally one day
-Raph has dyslexia
-Donnie made a PowerPoint presentation about autism and how he had it and showed it to Splinter
-After the events of the movie Leo was afraid to leave Raph alone for weeks, and couldn’t fall asleep unless he was in the presence of at least one of his brothers
-So. Many. Sleep piles
-After the movie Leo developed agoraphobia, a fear of wide open spaces, because of the prison dimension. He’s gotten better about it over time but it still makes him nervous
-Splinter wouldn’t let the turtles leave the lair for weeks after the Krang invasion, especially while they were still injured, and would check on them often just for the peace of mind of knowing they’re safe
-Donnie retrieved the recording of what happened to Leo in the prison dimension, and couldn’t bring himself to let the rest of the family hear it. He lied and told them the recording was lost in the fight
-Mikey is a menace about keeping his coat on in the winter, and multiple times has been carried back to the lair after getting tired from being so cold
-Battle shell attempt #126 was just Donnie strapping Mikey to his back
-Raph can carry all of his family members at the same time (including April, Casey and CJJ) and is very proud of it
-Leo still does Fortnite dances because he knows it pisses Donnie off
-Donnie and Mikey play just dance together, their favorite song to do is Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley and they both dance for their lives to be the winner
"I know"
"Do u want to see what I added today?"
"Sure buddy"
(insane rambling below!)
Scrapbooks! Scrapbooks! Hell yeah!!
Hello to the 5 ppl seeing this👋 Ima be real Im running on 7 hours of sleep after 5day grind brain mushy rn and I scribbled everything maniacally by memory at 3am after having one of those revelation moments so I have no idea what I'm missing lmao. This is actually the first time drawing them like this 2. Really proud of it
and B4 u ask anything hear me out.
So like tmnt2012 mutant apocalypse am I right?
Yeah it's flawed and pacings off and stuff BUT! The implications it left behind are haunting and it has been stuck in my brain for years. One of the things that stuck with me was the fact that Raph and Don had stuff like April's tessen, Mikey's stuffed bear head, The Creeps containment jar, and Casey's skull(horrifying btw) with them and that it's like :((
I fully believe it was Donnie who collected and carried them everywhere in their car. Not only for Raph(to help with this memory)but also for himself.
Why? Well maybe I'm reading 2 much into it and it's also partly a HC of mine but also bc canonically Donnie has a bit of a hoarding habit collecting trinkets and pictures and stuff. He likes to keep things around that hold a lot of significant value to him.
We see this in The Creeping Doom during the intro
Tumblr media
AND I swear he's got a literal wall of family photos in his lab somewhere I can't for the life of me find it but I know he did! He even took some to the farmhouse with him when they escaped during the invasion.
They're memories yk? Reminders..
Ok im having difficulty expressing this shit rn words r failing so like give me ur brain 4 a sec.
Imagine ur donbot.
You're stuck in a cold metal limbo for the rest of ur last remaining family members life. Everything and everyone you knew and cared about is dead and gone. Over thousands of species and ecosystems that made ur world unique wiped out. No more animals no more wild things no more blue clear skys. Death can't come for you. Not in a way that matters anymore.
And no matter where u go you are haunted by shadows of what once was. There are so many echoes and ghosts and cultures and stories and lives that were buried & left to rot by the gaping maws of fear & the desperate need to survive. No one cares for the past and the only other person around you can't remember it. Time will claim its domain again and there will be nothing left except empty metal husks to show sentience even existed in the first place.
Like holy shit he was just a kid bro and he never got the chance to even reach full adulthood!!! I can't possibly imagine the grief and guilt he must've carried with him all those years. He lost EVERYTHING
His family. His home. His world.
Did Donnie even get the chance to mourn??? Do u think his new body allowed it? Do u think he even ALLOWED himself to mourn? He had a hurt amnesiac brother who still needed to eat, who could still starve and bleed and die if they weren't careful enough.
So between his habits and the ✨Angst✨ and human pollution, him hoarding random ass things Wall-E style and making these shitty little scrapbooks or keepsakes didn't seem so far fetched to me. I also highly doubt there was enough time or resources to build shrines or graves in the middle of apocalypse. But yk honoring/preserving the memories of the things and ppl we love is natural for us so like SORRY if its a bit cringe of me wanting him to have SOMETHING to comfort him during the really bad days.
Even if its more bitter than sweet
Bonus doodads cuz I was indecisive:
The 1st was purple tinted cuz of donbot vision get it hehehe
Random Girlfriend Moments
Summary: The turts do the opposite of laugh
Leo
Invites you for a cuddle sesh in his room. Because he misses you even when you both hung out yesterday.
Heart eyes when he walks in with snacks in hand to you sitting on his bed reading his comic collection.
You caught him grinning. You knew that look.
"What are you up to?"
"Nothing, just thinking that my girlfriend is beautiful."
Cheeky
"Really? What does she look like."
Starts high-key comparing you to a pepperoni pizza. Which is low-key high praise coming from him.
He wanted to hear your cute giggle when you get shy, but instead...
 "That's her? She sounds ugly. You got some low standards, Leo."
The furrow between his eyebrows when he frowned could almost compete with Raph's. It was cute.
"Not funny."
Donnie
Was pulling his 6th all-nighter, working on a weapon upgrade for his bo-staff.
Worried for your boyfriend, you came over with pizza and calming tea in hand. He didn't even hear you knock.
Completely ignores your efforts to get his attention and eat.
"The beta stage is complete! All that's left is to test out its durability in battle and see its adverse effects on opponents!"
"Why don't you test it on me and get it over with?"
...That got his attention.
"It's going to hurt."
"No pain, no gain."
"What if you collapse?"
"The best sleep of my life."
"Darling, I know this is completely out of my character and I definitely will not be doing this again, but, do you need a hug?"
"I need you to eat and sleep."
"Okay"
Raph
You begged asked him to teach you how to ride a skateboard.
He would've been fine teaching you if you weren't so adamant about learning on the ramp inside the lair
Like, have you SEEN it!?
It DEFINITELY does not pass safety standards.
But you pulled out your trump card...the ✨puppy eyes✨, and he couldn't say no to that.
So now, he was sweating bullets CANONS with how nervous he was with you on top of the ramp.
His brothers sat at the bottom, making bets. Finding the prospect of you falling flat on your face is far more entertaining than playing video games.
"Do it! Do it! Do it!"
"Stop encouraging her! This is serious!"
"She's gonna be fine."
"Babe, it's gonna be awesome! Who knows, maybe falling on my face might make me prettier."
Let's just say that he refuses to teach you how to skateboard after that.
Mikey
To him, were nothing short of an angel.
 Everything little thing about you, he finds so aesthetically pleasing no matter what you said or did.
You would've had bed hair and drool on your chin, and he'd look at you with the anime glitter filter on.
As such, anyone who dares insult your beauty would have to go through him and his razzmatazz. Even you.
"Babe, how are you so pretty?"
"Pretty ugly if you ask me."
Dr. Feelings was more than ready to sit you down and give a 10-hour presentation on how you were not ugly.
"Sweetie it's a joke."
"Oh, are you saying you're a joke now? Well, let's talk about that."
2 hours in and you were already numb from the waist down sitting in one spot.
He wasn't finished though.
Never again...
P.S: Hello everyone~ it's been a while and I'm really sorry about the slow updates. Finals are coming up and I just wanted to take a break and write something fun. So I hope you guys enjoy this short one!!
P.P.S: this is my first time using hdcs and I'm pretty sure I did it wrong -w-
I still dont know who you are, I only know that I'm still lonely chap 2
Donnie has a bit of a late night breakdown, but all is well when they take care of their family, and theyre rewarded with twin cuddles (chap. 1)
Donnie couldn't sleep.
They should be excited. But they just felt numb. It's not fair.
Just a few hours ago they were fine. They were so excited! Happy!
But now they can barely feel anything.
Whilst they struggled with identifying emotions, they still felt them, in fact they were a rather emotional person, so it was very noticable when they were gone. And they didn't know what to do.
This has happend throughout their entire life, but has become far more frequent since The Technodrome.
You would think that having an issue for your entire life would mean youre able to cope with that issue. Especially having a sibling as well-versed in psychology and emotions as Michael is. But apparently, that isn't how it works.
Having awful emotional permanence surely didnt help. It's very hard to keep a diary of your feelings when you forget about them immediately after you stop feeling them. Which makes it really hard to ask for help.
Emotions are exhausting and confusing, but Donnie thought they preferred having them to not.
The only time they didn't want to feel was after Shelldon... NOPE! No. He's back. Hes ok. Hes alive. No need to go back there ever again.
They decided to go and get a drink... and maybe check on Shelldon on the way. And their siblings. And Papa. But only because they couldn't sleep, and they were heading that way anyways.
They swung their legs over the side of their bed to get up, realising their mistake a moment too late.
"SHIT!" They exclaimed as they fell to the floor, legs unable to hold their full weight.
They covered their eyes with their palms as they let out a shaky breath.
Fuck.
Why do rhey keep forgetting about that.
They let out a quiet sob as tears started to wet their palms and the shock made their emotion flood back. Desperately trying to comfort themself, they pulled their knees to their chest, grabbing their plesiosaur plush from their bed and holding it close, burying their face into the well-loved stuffed animal.
Its not fair. Its not fucking fair. They just wsnted to be a normal-ish teenager. Sure, they can still technically do most of the things they used to be able to do. But it was diffrrent. Which meant that they were different. And they didnt like change.
They cant skateboard anymore, and they might never be able to again. They loved skateboarding.
Logically, they knew that with their enhanced healing, they would more likely recover than not, but it had been a fucking year and they'd made barely any progress.
And sure, their family were very accommodating and understanding, but they didn't get it. Not in the way Donnie needed them to.
It made them angry, and they hated themself for it. Because its not their fault.
They would never want anyone to see what they saw, to feel what they felt. But it just sucked sometimes. It was so isolating and lonely. They just wanted someone to understand. To really, truly know them. To listen to them and go 'yeah, i get it'.
But they never would.
Because if The Technodrome was to be beleived, and they see no reason why she would lie, nobody else had seen what she showed them. Or if they did, they didnt survive to tell their story.
But they all went through horrific trauma that night. Raph was literally mind controlled and Leo was trapped in the prison dimension with Prime for fuck's sake! There was no way they were talking about this and risking bringing back those memories, they wouldn't do that to them. No matter how painful and isolating it was.
They stayed there for a little longer, breathing deep, shaky breaths and listening to their own heartbeat.
Now they really needed a drink.
Thankfully, they had created a new, more comfortable battle shell for prolonged use. Though it wasnt really a battle shell more like a get-around-the-lair shell. They kept it next to their bed so they could put it on when they woke up.
After taking a second to put their glasses on, they put their battle shell on, securing it.
They released the spider arms and made their way to the door (after tucking in the plesiosaur plush, of course).
The kitchen light was on when they got there, which wasn't surprising as the others tended to forget to turn them off after getting snacks.
Donnies hands shook slightly as they took out a glass from the cupboard, then the cordial from thr cupboard below it. The shaking persisted as they made their drink and put the cordial away. Thry took a sip. Then another. Then downed the whole thing. They hadn't realised just how thirsty they were.
They left the glass in the sink, far too exhausted to wash it right now.
Since Papa's room was closest, they decided to check on hin first, then Raph, then Mikey, and then check on Leo & Shelly at the other end.
Their dad always left his door open at night so that he could hear his children and they could hear him. Donnie stuck their head through the door and listened out for a moment, some of the tightness in their chest dissipating as they heard him snore. They didn't feel the need to check any further and turned to their next destination.
As they approaced Raph's room, they could already hear her snoring, but decided to go in and check on her anyway. Walking further in, they saw that Raph had dropped a couple of her stuffed animals in her sleep, and took moment to put them back properly.
Pulling the blanket over her a little more, they gently stroked the side of her head with their thumb, snoothing out the creases in her brow. Once Raph had settled down and started to smile slightly, Donnie got up and made their way out of the room and towards Mikeys, feeling lighter than before.
Mikey was a very quiet sleeper, so Donnie couldn't hear anything outside of his room.
Making their way in, Donnie made sure to tidy Mikeys desk whilst still leaving everything out and in view so he didnt forget about anything.
Mikey was sound asleep in his bed, completely sprawled out with the blanket tied up in ways Donnie wasnt sure they could do if they tried. Nevertheless, they managed to free Mikey from the blanket without waking him – thank you extra arms – and lay it over him instead so he didn't get cold.
They stayed for a moment longer, just watching him breathe, until they felt secure enough to leave him alone. It was truly incredible how much calmer they felt now compared to when they first got up.
Donnie, Leo, and Shelldon all had rooms on the opposite side of the layer, with theirs on the end closest to their lab, and Shelldons between them and Leo.
Leos room was on that side because of twin reasons. As much as they loved to make fun of eachother and get in dumb fights, they really were part of eachother. If either one needed any sort of comfort or help, the other – no matter how angry they may be, will always be there for them. They understood eachother like nobody else. And they will do anything to keep it that way.
Gently pushing open the door to Leos room, they made their way over to his bed. Leaving the haphazardly stacked comic books just the way he likes them. From the looks of it, Leo had fallen asleep on his phone, so Donnie made sure to put it on charge, gently removing Leos mask and fixing his blanket. But Leo was a much lighter sleeper than everyone else, and opened his eyes, blinking a few times before letting out a scratchy "Tello?"
Shit.
"Yeah, its me, Lee, sorry for waking you Ill-"
They were cut off by Leo gently grabbing the sides of their face, his face scrunching up in concern, " 'v you been crying?"
They cringed. Ah. Right. They didnt wash their eyeliner off. God they probably looked like such a mess right now. "Yeah, im- im- im okay now though. Go back to sleep."
Leo grabbed their hand and pulled gently, clearly inviting them to join him.
"Sigh. Alright, fine, but I have to go check on Shelldon first, ill be right back. Promise." They gave Leo a kiss on the head and stood to leave after he nodded.
Well, they were spending the night in Leos room now, they supposed. They were grateful for it to be honest, they didnt really want to be on their own right now.
As they entered Shelldon's room and saw the droid charging, they felt the last (biggest) bit of their anxiety melt away and they were so releived they could cry.
They quickly made their way to his bedside, lowering themself to kneel next to him.
Then they did start crying. He was there. Their son. Their baby. Safe and comfortable and alive. They gently caressed his face and neck, careful not to wake him. Leaning over, Donnie gently kissed him on the top of his head. He's right there. And he's okay.
Donnie stayed there for a few minutes, just watching him. They wanted desperately to hold him. To take him in their arms and never let go. To make sure nothing can never harm him ever again. But they didnt want to wake him.
Soon enough, they felt almost all of their anxiety leaving them, so they left back to Leos room.
When they got back, Leo wasnt asleep, and was clearly trying very hard to stay that way.
Donnie sat down on the edge of his bed where Leo cleared the blankets for them. They took their battle shell off very carefully so they didnt hit Leo and placed it next to the bed. Then they took their glasses off and put them on the bedside table before moving themself to lie next to Leo, resting their head on his bicep and wrapping their arms around him. "G'night. Love you." Leo managed to get out before immediately passing out. "Night Leo, I love you too." Donnie replied, feeling warm and safe and secure for the first time that night before they joined their beloved twin in sleep.
Character Analysis: 2012 Season 5: Mikey
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Literally Mikey
Ok but seriously, as a person with ADHD, watching Mikey in this series is hard. Like wow! Ableism and stereotypes! Fun!/sar. In the first 2 seasons Mikey was a interesting character! He was fun and make pranks but he wasn’t reduced to a annoying character. He was empathetic and help take care of Leatherhead. While he was a bit of a “ditz” he’s also very smart. He has a night emotional intelligence, and can do chemistry. Heck, he was trapped in the Dimension X and became a survivalist. That would have been so cool to see a bit of what Mikey had to go through, or some of his adventures.
As the seasons progresses, Mikey was placed in the background. And he became less and less important to the show. He became more “immature”, and more of a jokester. The shiw even says that Mikey has the maturity of a 6 year old. Which, if you didn’t know, is ableist.
The whole family going into Mikey mind, is could have been a way to explore Mikey’s character. Because while Mikey is the joker and was place in the background, there was elements of him growing. Him having anger issues, which his anger being the biggest persona he has. Him being the best at mooning without thinking, him taming a crocodile! His negative traits could have been a way to explore his character. His eating habit, can be seen as both an eating disorder and a symptom of his ADHD. (Since people with ADHD have a higher change of binge eating disorder). His prankster and jokers can be seen as a way to him cope with the stress and his family problems. Heck, that was an actual episode!
For Mikey, he is a mix of a scrapgoat; a person who is blamed for the wrongdoings, mistakes, or faults of others, especially for reasons of expediency and The Mascot. A Mascot’s role in the dysfunctional family is to distract from problematic behavior, usually through humor or social skill.
Mikey also is implied to have Maladaptive Daydreaming. Or some type of Dissociation disorder since he “goes into his mind when things get rough” or something along those lines. Maladaptive Daydreaming symptoms are
Intense, vivid daydreams that present as a story, with characters, settings, and plotlines
Daydreams that are triggered by real-world events or sensory stimuli
Unconscious facial expressions, repetitive body movements, or talking or whispering that accompany daydreams
Daydreams that last for several minutes to hours
A strong or addictive desire to keep daydreaming
Trouble focusing and completing daily tasks due to daydreams
Trouble sleeping
Maladaptive daydreaming may develop as a coping strategy in response to trauma. The inner world may feel safer than the experience happening outside. For example, people with maladaptive daydreaming found themselves engaging in the behavior more frequently.
Dissociation is a mental process of disconnecting from one’s thoughts, feelings, memories or sense of identity.
Some symptoms are;
Feeling disconnected from yourself
Problems with handling intense emotions
Sudden and unexpected shifts in mood – for example, feeling very sad for no reason
Depression or anxiety problems, or both
Feeling as though the world is distorted or not real (called ‘derealisation’)
Like Raph, Leo, and Donnie. Mikey also died. His was murder was well. He was killed by Newtralizer ( season 5 episode 5 + 6) and came back and gain temporarily Electrokinesis. Personality I think he should have keep it, and have his powers act like a heart monitor. (Since Bishop didn’t want him to overuse his powers or it might kill him.)
As for his family, Mikey seem closer to Leo and sometimes Donnie. With Leo he and Mikey have a more sweet older brother and little brother dynamics and the two talk about cartoons. With Donnie, Mikey try’s to hype up when the two are on mission. And he try’s do chemistry with him. With Raph, while Mikey does get verbally and physically abused by him, Mikey is the one that jokes or picks on Raph.
With Splinter, there wasn’t any one on one scene they had. But the way Splinter talks about Mikey, while mostly positive, it seems like splinter doesn’t know how to dealt with Mikey’s ADHD and sees Mikey in a negative way some times.
For me, Mikey is my second favorite turtle in this series. While I don’t like that he was shoved to the side in the later season, and he did get on my nerves from time to time. I do think he’s a good character, i just want more characterization from him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Y/N sits at one of the many tables in The Dreaming's library. Flicking through a book belonging to a man who survived a fatal accident, according to his girlfriend's book anyway, she had yet to read anything that would suggest the accident would have been fatal. She closes the book, carefully placing it on the table in front of her, instead of slamming it down in frustration like she had done the first few times she hadn't found anything, causing Lucienne to scold her quite vigorously, much to Raphael's amusement.
A heavy sigh leaves her mouth, annoyed as it was the 436th accident someone had 'miraculously' survived and she had yet to see any obvious indication of her father's influence. It made her wonder, out of all the universes, why was he laying low in this one? Was it all the different immortals, all the different ancient powers, making him more cautious? If that was the case, surely he would just leave, but no. He stays. Why?
"I can see the cogs turning in your mind from here."
The Angel jumps in her seat, annoyed but also proud of how good Lucienne had gotten at sneaking up on her. She smiles tiredly at the librarian as she puts away the books she was carrying on the bookshelf next to her.
"How many have you gone through?"
Y/N picks up a book from one of the many piles stacked on the table. "This will be the 437th." She sighs again, "Where's Raph?"
"Sleeping. Like you should be." Lucienne gives her a stern look as she sits down in the chair opposite the woman. Set on trying to convince her to go to the room Lord Morpheus set up for her a few hours after she arrived in The Dreaming, almost three months ago.
The Angel waves her hand, dismissing the statement. "I don't get it."
"Get what?"
"What is my father doing, or not doing in this case? Everywhere Raph and I have been, we've always been able to physically track him, or find someone who met him. Interacted with him. But now? Nothing!" She throws her hands in the air, "I don't get it. What's changed?" Lucifer drags her hands over her face, "Sorry. I didn't mean to rant at you."
"It's okay. I know you're tired, go get some sleep. You can come back with fresh eyes."
Y/N smiles cynically, "I can't."
Lucienne frowns at her, seeing there's something she's not saying. Something Lucienne has noticed happens a lot with The Dreaming's latest guests. "Why can't you?"
She swallows the lump in her throat, hating how affected she still is by her father's actions. "Because I won't wake up," she pauses to collect her thoughts, "If I go to sleep, I'll get pulled back. Back into my own, personal hell."
"Y/N..." Lucienne starts, seeing Lord Morpheus heading towards them from where he was investigating the newest section of the library, 'The Ghost Library' as Matthew had dubbed it.
"My father cursed me," she interrupts, already sensing him, "my siblings got me out, to the best of their ability. But my father is the only one who can truly break it."
"I'm sorry." Lucienne says, sympathetically.
She smiles sadly at Lucienne, "It is what it is. Any questions? Lord Morpheus?" Y/N turns to look at the Dream Lord.
He freezes, surprised she noticed him as she seemed, elsewhere. "I believe I have found someone who encountered your father."
She shoots to her feet, her chair knocking against the table. "Who? When?" She asks, fully prepared to find the person's book and read every page.
"I'll show you." He holds his hand out, making her eyes widen when she realises what he means.
"You'll show me their dream?"
He nods, "I'm choosing to trust you." His voice darkens, "But if you do anything to break that trust, there will be consequences."
She nods, ignoring how turned on she was by that. "I understand." She grabs his hand, inhaling sharply when every one of her nerves is set alight, Morpheus feeling the same thing judging from the look in his eyes. He reaches into his pocket and grabs a handful of sand, throwing it up into the air. The sand swirls around them, Y/N looking around as it obscures the sight of the library, she looks back at Morpheus as he watches her with an intensity that makes her what to squirm. She holds her ground, holding his gaze even as the sand disappears, revealing a sunny park, Central Park if she's not mistaken.
"We're here."
She lets go of his hand, goosebumps rising on her arms as her body cools down drastically from the broken contact. She looks around the park, staying where she is as Morpheus watches her to see if she can figure out who they're there for on her own. The back of her head tingles as she stops to look at a woman sitting on a bench rocking a baby in her arms, the child's screams making her flinch. She looks at Morpheus, nodding towards the struggling mother. He nods, confirming she's who they're there for.
She grabs his arm, pulling him behind the tree sitting opposite the woman. Morpheus raises an eyebrow at her.
"Later." She whispers, the tingling at the back of her head turning into a searing pain. She watches as a man walks up to the woman, her instincts screaming at her as he reaches out and touches the baby's forehead, the man murmuring something to the woman, too low for Y/N to hear.
The man walks away from the woman, whose face is streaked with tears of relief. She waits a moment before following behind him, Morpheus following behind her. They walk the entire length of the park, following the man as the dream changes into someone else's, they make their way through the streets of what looks like Paris. He turns the corner, the scenery rippling to signal they're about to walk into another dream, they turn the corner after him when she freezes in place, dread washing over her as the searing pain in her head disappears and her instincts settle.
"He's gone."
"He just disappeared?" Lucienne inquires.
She nods, flicking through the pages of the book of the woman, Daisy, whose dream they had witnessed interacting with her father. Morpheus does the same with the last person who saw her father in their dream, where they lost him.
Lucienne sighs, "Your father is quite allusive, isn't he?"
"He's always been good at hiding from his kids," she finds the page, "consciously and not." She frowns, skimming over what should have been the words detailing the woman's interaction with her father. "I don't believe this!"
Morpheus's head shoots up from the book he's reading, "What is it?"
"He's not here! My father's not in the book." She hands Morpheus the book.
"What?"
She turns to Lucienne, "It details her going to the park, but skips ahead to her meeting her friends, her baby healthy. No mention of my father."
"Are you sure it's on the same day?"
"Yes, it says it is."
Lucienne looks at Morpheus, who nods to confirm. "How is that possible?"
"I do not know."
Morpheus looks at Y/N, who meets his gaze before looking at the piles of books she had already been through, "I wonder how many others he doesn't appear in?"

Not as Thick as Blood (2012 TMNT Fic)
Chapter 2/2, 5k words
Summary:
“What if he found something bad in his DNA test?” “Bad? Like what?” Leo asked, and Mikey shrugged, but Raph’s face grew dark. “Like a disease? Or maybe he found out that our expected lifespan is only, like, 20 years or something,” Raph mumbled, not taking his eyes off the screen. --- Donnie gets curious about his and his brothers' genetic makeup. He ends up finding something he didn't expect, and Mikey feels like his entire world has been thrown off balance.

It was almost impossible for Mikey to get out of bed a few short hours later. His alarm pierced his ears, causing his head to throb as he fumbled with his phone, desperate to shut it off. When he managed to silence the unforgiving noise, he felt himself being coaxed back into sleep by the blessed silence, but he knew he had to fight it. If he went back to sleep, Leo would have to come wake him, and he was already anticipating that today wouldn’t be a good one. He needed to get up. He couldn’t make things worse… He had to… had to…
His whole body felt heavy, and despite trying to get himself to move, he couldn’t find the energy. He dozed, his consciousness slipping against his will, until a jolt of panic surged through his body, and he pushed himself up suddenly. He had to get up. No more sleeping.
He looked at his phone and grimaced. He’d somehow fallen asleep for another 20 minutes. Everyone else would be eating breakfast, left to provide themselves with something since he wasn’t there. Grimacing, he forced himself to stand up, grab his mask, and head out of his room. Maybe he could still salvage things? It wasn’t like he made breakfast every single day.
His body seemed to move on autopilot as he walked to the kitchen, tying the orange fabric around his head in an attempt to seem normal. He was tightening the ends into the bow he preferred, about to round the corner into the kitchen when he froze. His brothers’ the other turtles’ voices carried out of the kitchen, their voices hushed as if they were trying to keep from being overheard.
“We have to say something.” That was Leo.
“What are we meant to say?” Raph. He sounded agitated, although that wasn’t out of the ordinary.
A sigh, then Donnie’s voice joined in as well, confirming that all three of them were having a serious conversation without him. “I don’t know, but you know how Mikey is. He feels things stronger than the rest of us. The longer we wait to talk to him, the worse it’ll get.”
Mikey had heard enough. He bolted back to his room, fighting tears, biting his lip in frustration. He knew this was coming, he knew they were going to tell him he wasn’t a part of the family anymore at some point. He’d foolishly hoped that he’d have more time, but now he had to face the truth and get ready to leave. No time for crying.
He'd already made a mental list of the most important things to grab: a warm hoodie, a backpack stuffed with granola bars and bags of chips and a blanket, a handful of first aid supplies, a stuffed elephant Leo had found and given him years ago. He needed to get to the bathroom to grab his toiletries, which meant he was risking getting caught before he could leave, but he’d rather not have to worry about finding a new toothbrush or bar of soap.
Utilizing his ninja training to the best of his abilities, he crept from his room towards the shared bathroom, feeling relieved that voices were still coming from the kitchen. He should be undisturbed—
“Mikey?”
He jumped about three feet in the air and immediately fell into a defensive stance, relaxing only slightly when he saw Leo exiting the bathroom.
“I was starting to get worried since you hadn’t gotten up yet,” Leo said, a crease forming on his forehead as he looked at Mikey with concern. “What are you carrying?”
He fought to keep himself from wincing. He really, really didn’t want Leo to take his supplies. “Um…” He hesitated, trying to think of an explanation, when Leo held out his hand. It didn’t seem to be overly demanding, Leo’s body language calm, but he didn’t know what Mikey was hiding yet. Swallowing his panic down, he slid the bag from his shoulders and placed it in Leo’s waiting hand.
The sound of the zipper opening seemed to echo around the hall, taunting Mikey. What kind of ninja was he, not even making it to the bathroom without getting caught? And now he was going to face the consequences of his own incapability.
Leo rummaged through the bag, Mikey wincing with every crinkle of a food bag. He only observed the contents for a few moments, but it seemed to stretch out for eternity as Mikey waited, petrified, for Leo’s reaction.
Finally, his brother Leo looked up at Mikey, lowering the bag to his side. “Are you going somewhere?”
It wasn’t what Mikey had been expecting him to say, and his brain fumbled for a second to figure out what the appropriate response was. “Um. Yeah. I am.”
Leo’s frown deepened. “You know you’re not allowed to go topside without someone else with you.”
Mikey didn’t know what to say to that, how to explain that Leo didn’t have to worry about him anymore. “I know you sneak out by yourself sometimes,” he said instead, and he forced himself not to facepalm. That wasn’t helping! “Raph does, too.” Shut up, Mikey!
Leo shrugged. “I guess we do. We never plan on staying out for long, though. Not long enough that we’d bring food and bandages.”
“I’m always hungry, and I’m a klutz, I’m just being prepared.” Mikey was starting to get a headache. If it was from lack of sleep, or irritation, or stress, Mikey didn’t know. He just wanted to leave.
Well, no. He didn’t want to leave. But anything was better than this conversation, right?
Leo reached down into the bag and pulled out the elephant. “And bringing Kiki with you?”
His face flushed in embarrassment, which quickly shifted to anger, and he grabbed the plush toy from Leo’s hand. “Why are you interrogating me? If you’re going to take the stuff from me, just do it.”
“What’s going on?” Donnie’s voice appeared behind Mikey, and he turned around, seeing that Raph was there as well. He gripped Kiki tight as he tried to keep himself from breaking down. Why wouldn’t they let him leave? This was hard enough as it was!
“Why would I take your stuff?” Leo asked, and Mikey’s head pounded. Was that a trick question?
“What stuff?” Raph asked, arms crossed. The bag was passed to him by Leo, and Donnie leaned over to look as Raph examined the contents. “Are you running away?!”
Mikey couldn’t help but flinch at Raph’s tone, loud and angry. But then he got confused. Why was Raph upset? Why… why were any of them upset? Donnie’s expression was one of shock and, perhaps, some underlying pain at Raph’s outburst. Leo just looked worried, eyes studying Mikey in a way that made him want to pull into his shell and never face the world again.
“Mikey, is there a reason you’re trying to leave?”
Mikey forced himself to meet Leo’s eyes, to determine if it was a trick. He didn’t understand. His brothers the other turtles didn’t make sense.
Nothing made sense.
It hadn’t made sense since they’d learned the truth.
That realization felt like it tore through Mikey’s plastron, and he collapsed in on himself, pulling his limbs close to his body as he slid to the floor, just barely managing to remain outside of his shell. He was embarrassed enough as it was.
Shaking as tears started falling, he pulled his knees in towards his chest and wrapped his arms tightly around himself.
Nothing made sense. If he wasn’t their brother, why was he still here? Why was he here in the first place? Did he deserve to be among them? Surely not. He was a mistake. He should have never been mutated in the first place. He wasn’t one of them. Their similarities started and ended with the fact that they were mutant turtles. Why did that hurt so much? Nothing had truly changed, but everything was different nonetheless. And it hurt. It hurt, so so much.
Which was why he had to leave, even if that hurt too. He couldn’t handle the reminder that he was different when his brothers looked at him with those awful glances.
Not his brothers.
He didn’t have any brothers.
He trembled as uncontrollable sobs overtook his body once more, and he began to feel lightheaded. Distantly he noted that he was likely dehydrated after crying the night before, and crying now wasn’t helping him at all.
Just another screw up. Damn it.
Someone was speaking softly, murmurs coming at him from several different directions, but he couldn’t make any words out. His hand was taken into someone else’s, a calloused thumb rubbing over the back of his hand gently as those soothing murmurs continued.
He found himself relaxing eventually, although he had no idea how much time had passed. It was inevitable; he always calmed down when his brothers were there.
His brothers… his former brothers.
“That’s it, Mikey, deep breaths.” Leo’s voice grew clearer.
“You’re okay, Mikey. We’re here.” That was Donnie’s voice.
“We aren’t going anywhere,” Came Raph’s voice, softer than Mikey had heard it since Leo’s coma. “And we’re not letting you go anywhere, either.”
That cleared his thoughts a little, and he remembered what was going on. He coughed wetly, clearing his throat, and sniffled. “You don’t have to,” he told the other three weakly. “I’ll be okay, and you won’t have to deal with me being around.”
The world was still a bit blurry, but he could tell that each of his brothers—the brothers expressions shifted at his words.
Raph’s was easiest to read. His eyes sparked with anger, but it was put out quickly. “Of course we want you around, why wouldn’t we?” His voice was still soft, gentle, but it wavered a little.
“Mikey,” Leo added, “we don’t ‘deal’ with you.”
“Sometimes you annoy us,” Donnie continued, “but that’s just how brothers act. We all annoy each other sometimes.”
Mikey frowned. Surely Donnie hadn’t forgotten…? “But… but I’m not… I’m not…”
There were strong arms around him suddenly, pulling him into a tight embrace. Raph’s face was pressed into Mikey’s shoulder, muffling his words some, but he was still able to catch what he said. “Screw Donnie’s bullshit DNA test, Mikey. I don’t give a fuck what genetics say, you’re my little brother.” There was something uncharacteristically desperate to Raph’s tone.
It took Mikey several beats to process what Raph had said, and in that time, two more bodies had surrounded him, Leo and Donnie wrapping their arms around him as well, leaving Mikey at the center of the three of them.
“You’re our little brother,” Leo insisted, his voice cracking… was he crying?
They stayed like that as Mikey’s brain worked through what was going on. Suppressed sobs from multiple sources filled his ears.
Nothing made sense.
“But… but why would you want me to be?” is what he finally asked, unsure of how else to react to the situation. Then he yelped as something lightly hit his arm, taking him by surprise. Raph was nearly growling, and Mikey was almost scared.
“Don’t you dare say that ever again, okay?!” Raph demanded. “Of course we want you to be our brother! Just like you have been our whole lives!”
Donnie sniffed, then added quietly, “Well… unless you don’t want to be our brother. Um. In which case…”
“Donnie,” Leo cut in gently, but Mikey was shaking his head emphatically at the suggestion.
“No, I—I want to be your brother,” Mikey managed to say, hoping it was alright to want that. Even if he probably didn’t deserve it.
Arms tightened around him even further, and the four turtles seemed to let out a collective sigh. “Alright then, little brother,” Leo said, and Mikey couldn’t help the small, watery, tentatively hopeful smile it caused to form on his face, “why don’t we get you some breakfast? You must be hungry.”
“Mmm.” He was, but he didn’t want to move yet. It was nice like this, his… his brothers surrounding him tightly, like a protective barrier from the awfulness that had been the past few days. But, inevitably, his stomach growled, and one by one the others, his brothers, pulled away. But they all stayed within an arm’s length, and if he reached out, he could grasp any of their hands if he wanted. Things still felt shaky though, and he didn’t want to push his luck. They could still change their minds, a voice in the back of his head whispered to him, but he tried to ignore it as he pushed himself to his feet.
Leo patted him on the shoulder and gave him a watery smile of his own, which Mikey managed to return. “How does an omelet sound?”
“Sounds like something I’m not letting you anywhere near,” Raph replied before Mikey had a chance. “Burning down the lair is not gonna make today any better.”
Leo rolled his eyes and commented something about how his cooking wasn’t that bad, while Raph shot back a remark about the time he’d broken the toaster so severely Donnie could barely fix it. They pushed each other lightly as they argued, the conflict far from serious. Mikey was glad they were acting like themselves again; he hadn’t noticed, but this had been missing since Donnie’s test results had been shared. The mood across the whole lair had shifted. It was a relief to see things going back to normal.
Well, at least in terms of the elder two. Donnie, who trailed behind Mikey as the group made their way to the kitchen, was quiet. He’d been quieter than the others during Mikey’s breakdown, too.
“Alright, Mikey, whats going in your omelet?” Raph asked as he opened the fridge, which pushed the thoughts of Donnie’s behavior from his mind. Okay, he really was starving.
He sat down after giving Raph his request, and listened as Leo and Raph chatted, with an occasional comment from himself or Donnie.
Things didn’t feel quite like they used to, but at least Mikey didn’t have to leave now. He could stay, which meant that everything else could be figured out later.
===
“Everything else” happened to include training. Despite not being present for what had occurred earlier, Splinter seemed to be aware that something had changed in Mikey’s behavior. Unfortunately, despite his brothers’ help earlier (and they were his brothers, they kept reassuring him), he was still feeling inadequate when it came to ninjutsu.
His brothers had the DNA of a great ninja master in their blood. Mikey did not. It made sense why he wasn’t as good as them, and he’d been trying to accept that there was nothing that could be done to make up for his genetic disadvantage. He could work as hard as possible, and he still wouldn’t be able to keep up with their inherent abilities.
“Michelangelo,” Master Splinter’s voice rang out through the dojo, “you will face me alone today.”
Oh, great. Just what he wanted, on top of everything else, now he was going to be humiliated. He couldn’t refuse sensei, though, so he stood up from his seiza and shifted into a fighting stance, one that was more defensive. He stood no chance against sensei, so his best bet was to try to last as long as he could.
“Hajime!”
He braced himself…
And Splinter did not move.
He wanted to groan. He hated when sensei did this, forced them to be offensive. Gripping his nunchaku tightly, he advanced on Splinter, trying to find an opening. Of course, there were none, so he was left blindly attacking whatever part of Splinter he could reach, hoping that one of his hits landed in a way that could give him an advantage.
Not four seconds later, he was on the floor, gasping to refill his lungs as the air had been knocked out of him when he fell.
He waited for Splinter to call the end of the spar, confused when the order didn’t come. He pushed himself onto his knees, and was halfway to his feet when the world flipped and he was sent to the floor once more.
The order didn’t come again.
He wanted to scream. He was already being humiliated, and now Splinter was dragging it out? All while the others watched? What if his failure was what caused them to change their minds about wanting him?
He was a little more strategic with the way he attempted to return to his feet this time, rolling away from where Splinter was and coming up on one knee, bracing himself for an incoming attack he could dodge before leaving himself vulnerable by trying to stand. When none came, he brought himself to his feet and immediately darted to the side. Sensei was still not attacking directly, so Mikey approached, feinting an attack to his face before shifting his body down low, attempting to knock Splinter off balance.
It didn’t work, and Mikey once again found himself on the ground. He was getting frustrated.
No order to stop came.
He forced himself back up, covering his vulnerabilities as he did so, before flipping backwards, putting space between himself and Splinter. It gave him a chance to study his sensei, but no obvious openings were visible to him still.
Which meant he had to make one.
He darted for Splinter, getting within reach before rolling to the side, swinging his nunchaku out. He was trying to make it appear as if he was trying to catch sensei’s arm in the chains to pull him off balance, but it was a misdirection. Now, Splinter just needed to fall for it, and…
There!
He brought his knee up, determined to end this however he could, and struck his sensei right in the balls.
Splinter might be a master ninja, but even he was not immune to such an action. He did not double over or cry out in pain, but his movements stuttered, leaving Mikey an opening to force Splinter off balance, this time succeeding. Splinter did not go crashing to the ground, but Mikey managed to get a jab at his side, causing Splinter’s balance to slip from him further, before Mikey finished by using his nunchaku chain to wrap around sensei’s leg. He pulled, and Splinter went down.
A few moments passed where everything seemed to freeze in the dojo, before Splinter finally let out the order. “Yame.”
There was a pause, and then three cheers echoed off the dojo walls, his brothers exclaiming excitedly over Mikey’s victory.
“That was insane!” Leo praised, and Mikey had to stop himself from preening. This wasn’t earned praise.
“I only won because I broke the rules,” Mikey said sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head.
Splinter had risen to his feet and placed a hand on Mikey’s shoulder. “While the use of, ahem, the specific strategy you utilized is not strictly ninjutsu, the ability to adapt to your own abilities to win a fight, especially against a more skilled opponent, is something you have always excelled at, Michelangelo.” He smiled. “I don’t believe your brothers would have utilized such a move against me, even if it were their only chance at victory.”
“So… I did good?”
“Yes, my son. But please do not make a habit of targeting… that specific area during training.”
Mikey barely heard the second part, because his brain had nearly shut down at the word “son”. Splinter still thought of Mikey as his son. Splinter was still his father.
He had no idea how worried he’d been about that until it had been said aloud.
Training continued, but Mikey didn’t feel fully present for it. Fortunately, he wasn’t subjected to any more sparring, and working through his katas was something he could do in his sleep after 15 years of working on them.
Then training was over, and Splinter dismissed them.
“Michelangelo,” Splinter called out before he could leave, drawing him out of his thoughts. “Doubt and hesitation are deadly enemies. You only managed to claim victory today because your frustration overshadowed your fears. A true foe will not allow time for your frustration to grow. You must be confident in yourself and in your abilities.”
Mikey looked down. “Hai, sensei. I just…” He didn’t know how to explain his feelings.
“You have spent just as many years training in ninjutsu as your brothers. Their skill has nothing to do with any blood relation they might have to me, and yours does not depend on that factor either.” Splinter once again placed a comforting hand on Mikey’s shoulders. “You are incredibly strong and talented, my son, just as much as your brothers. Where you falter is in a lack of dedication, which has nothing to do with the source of your DNA.”
He'd known about his dedication issue; it was not news to him. But it had been easier to blame his shortcomings on something outside of his control. He felt himself flush with shame as he nodded. “I understand.”
“I believe that, were you to devote yourself fully to the art, you could become the most formidable out of your brothers,” Splinter told him, and although his tone seemed deathly serious, Mikey couldn’t fully believe that. Really, him? He was nowhere close to the others’ levels.
“Thank you, sensei,” he said instead. Splinter smiled softly.
“I am proud of you, my son,” Splinter told him. “And I cannot wait to see how you thrive as you grow.”
Mikey leaned forward, wrapping his arms around Splinter, letting out a small, content sigh when his father’s arms tightened around him in return.
===
Things got easier. Constant verbal acknowledgements that Mikey was their brother, encouragement from one of them to prank the others, even just small things like letting Mikey choose what game to play were among the minor but meaningful changes his brothers made to reassure Mikey that he belonged, that he was wanted. That he was loved.
It had been a few weeks, and Mikey had been sleeping better, no longer plagued with worries about being cast out by his family. He beat Donnie a few times in training, and even managed to outdo Raph once.
“You’re next, Leo!” Mikey had promised, and Leo had scoffed and insisted it wasn’t ever going to happen, but there was a grin on his face when he said it.
There was still something bothering him though. And it was something he didn’t know how to fix, or what he was supposed to do about.
Donnie was avoiding him.
Sure, he wasn’t leaving the room the second Mikey walked in, or refusing to respond to direct questions or comments Mikey sent in his direction, but he never initiated conversations, and always kept what he said in response to Mikey’s efforts curt and with little room for further discussion. And while Leo and Raph had stopped giving Mikey those awful, awful looks, Donnie still did from time to time.
Donnie probably thought Mikey hadn’t seen. He wasn’t as sneaky with the glances as he thought.
When Donnie announced, once again, that he was retiring to his lab rather than joining the rest of them for a movie, Mikey couldn’t keep ignoring it. He groaned, maybe a little bit overdramatically, and asked, “What is his problem? Why can’t he just tell me whatever it is I’m doing that’s making him want to avoid me so I can stop doing it!”
“You’re not doing anything,” Leo told him. “He should talk to you.”
“Yeah, well, try telling him that!” Mikey groaned again, pressing his face into the couch cushion as he rearranged himself, sprawling out so that he took up most of the space. Raph grunted and shoved him back, but Mikey didn’t move.
“He’ll come around,” Raph said. “Now stop taking up all my space.”
Mikey sighed and sat back up, trying to push thoughts of Donnie from his mind so he could focus on the movie.
===
Two days later, there was a knock on his door. Mikey was mildly surprised to see Donnie lean his head in.
“Hey, Mikey. Can we talk?”
He’d been better about getting worried about his family deciding he wasn’t wanted, but he couldn’t help the fear he felt at Donnie’s words. The anxious way Donnie was standing meant that the conversation couldn’t be anything good.
“Sure,” Mikey told him anyway, pretending that he thought he could handle whatever was about to be said.
Donnie seemed to be slightly relieved that he’d been granted entry, and he shuffled in awkwardly, sitting down on the end of Mikey’s bed, a full two feet between them.
It felt very different from the night a few weeks ago when Mikey had made Donnie drop his mug, but somehow it also felt the same.
“Um…” Donnie’s hands were fidgeting, and he was staring at the floor. “Okay, I’m not really sure where to start, but I guess… I owe you an apology.”
Mikey blinked. “For what?”
Donnie let out a bitter laugh, one Mikey couldn’t understand the meaning of. “A lot of things. For doing the DNA test in the first place, for telling everyone what I found, for avoiding you because I was scared that you hated me…”
“Wait, hold on, what?” Mikey leaned towards Donnie, only half aware he was doing so. “You thought I would hate you? Why would I do that?”
“Why wouldn’t you?” Donnie insisted. “I told you something that basically changed your whole worldview, and I know you have been struggling since you learned about it. And that was my fault.”
Donnie looked so ashamed, and Mikey was pretty sure he was close to tears. Which, nope, Mikey was all done with tears. There had been enough crying over this whole situation already, and he wasn’t going to put up with any more of it. “How was it your fault that your test told you something you didn’t know? Wasn’t that the whole point of doing it?”
“Well, yeah, but—”
“Look, Dee, you didn’t know what the test was going to find, so stop blaming yourself.”
“I shouldn’t have done it in the first place! I should have realized that there was a possibility of an outcome like this and thought better before I let my curiosity get out of hand!”
“Hey.” Mikey gently placed his hands on the sides of Donnie’s face and forced his brother to look at him. “Sometimes you do dumb science things because you’re curious. Like the time you were messing with April’s psychic powers at the farmhouse, and she got her brain fused with that bird mutant. That doesn’t mean I’m mad at you, okay?”
Donnie didn’t look like he believed Mikey. Shit, he needed to be more convincing.
“Honestly,” he continued, “the thing I’m most upset about is the way you keep looking at me.” His voice grew quieter as he debated admitting what he was about to say next, but he figured sharing the fear was a better way of dealing with it than ignoring it. “It’s like you see me differently, even if you say I’m still your brother.”
Donnie’s eyes went wide. “What—no, no, Mikey, that’s not it at all!” He grasped Mikey’s hands tightly, as if he could convey his thoughts through the physical bond. “I felt so guilty about the entire thing, I didn’t know how to deal with it. I was worried that it would make you feel different, even though nothing had changed, and… and I guess I was so scared of that, I started treating you differently anyway.” He bowed his head. “I did the exact thing that could make this whole mess worse. I’m such an idiot.”
“Hey,” Mikey snapped. “You’re a lot of things, Dee, but you’re not an idiot. You’re the smartest person I know. Sometimes you do dumb things, especially with other people’s feelings, but you’re not an idiot.” He pulled Donnie into a loose hug, rubbing his hand on his shell, mirroring the comforting action Donnie had provided him with a few weeks ago. “I don’t hate you, so stop hating yourself, okay?”
Because that was the whole issue, wasn’t it? Donnie had been hating himself for everything that had happened. For Mikey’s reactions, for doing the DNA test in the first place, all of it.
Mikey had been a wreck since that day. It hadn’t dawned on him until that moment that Donnie could be just as much of a mess.
His brother sniffed, leaning his head on Mikey’s shoulder. “I messed everything up,” he insisted weakly.
“Nah,” Mikey told him simply. “And even if that’s true, it doesn’t mean it can’t be fixed.”
The two of them sat together like that, perched on the edge of Mikey’s bed, breathing together and not releasing the hold they had on each other. A part of Mikey laughed at his past mindset; how could he have ever thought that he wasn’t their brother? The awkward yet comforting conversation with Donnie was one that could only happen between siblings.
“Are you okay?” Donnie asked once the silence had stretched on for a while.
Mikey nodded, and found that it was honest. “Are you?”
Donnie nodded back. “I really am sorry, by the way.”
“I know.”
“I didn’t mean to treat you different.”
“I know.”
“I don’t think of you any differently than I did before.”
“I—”
“If you say ‘I know’ again, I’m leaving.”
Mikey laughed, tightening his hug slightly before letting Donnie go. His brother’s eyes were a little bit red and puffy; oh well, guess tears hadn’t been entirely avoided. But Donnie was meeting Mikey’s eyes easily now, and there was a spark of humor in them that had been desperately missed.
“Do you want to watch Crognard with me?”
Donnie smiled, accepting Mikey’s hand after he had stood up, and allowed himself to be pulled to his feet as well. “That sounds great.”
They went to exit Mikey’s room, but he stopped in the doorway. “Hold on!” He rushed back inside and headed to the corner where a bag had been discarded. He pulled out the two bags of chips that still remained weeks after they’d been put there and passed one to Donnie. “Can’t watch Crognard without our snacks!”
The two of them, in much higher spirits than they’d been before, made their way out to the television, where they were joined by their other brothers, the four of them settling down together as they turned on the show.
A bag, now empty, sat forgotten and unneeded in Mikey’s room. He didn’t have anywhere to go. He belonged right here.

I feel the need to elaborate on my very bold ‘Raph is the only ninja turtle that would be a good dad’ take
(I’m gonna use the 2012 turtles but I feel like these apply to most iterations)
All of the turtles are decent enough with kids, but Raph is the only one with the actual paternal behaviour, Leo is more of a teacher and both Mikey and Donnie both fall under the ‘fun but reckless elder brother’ but on opposite ends of the spectrum
Like Leo is definitely copying master splinter with his parenting style, like if he had kids they would defo call his sensei or master Leonardo instead of dad. But he would also be that one really nice teacher everyone had who would let you sleep through class if you were struggling and would play die hard on the last day of school before Christmas.
While being categorised as the same thing, Mikey and Donnie are wildly different in their ‘fun but reckless elder brother’ ways.
Like Mikey is the type to wake you up at 2am to tell you that he heard that Donnie was gonna do a drag performance to California Gurls at this drag bar on the other side of the city but you’d be like 15 minutes late because Mikey ate a slice of pizza he found on the ground on a dare but you’d still have the time of your lives and he’d totally be able to convince you to dress in drag and Join Donnie. He’s more fun less reckless.
But on the other hand, Donnie would make 2 dozen pipe bombs and ask you if you wanna go throw them into shredders hideout and obviously you say yes but you get caught by the foot and it turns into some James Bond breakout sequence because Donnie has to get to this drag bar on the other side of the city and he tells you that you can’t come because he’s got a sneaking suspicion that Mikey knows about it but before leaving you in the lair he hands you like 7 more pipe bombs and tells you to go crazy. He’s Reckless and fun but he’s less reckless and more dangerous.
Ralph’s really the only one that you could reliably call a dad, like he’s not as overly strict as Leo but he isn’t taking you to drag bars at 2 am to watch his brother perform because you have school the next day. He’s also best in his element with small kids, opposed to the other 3 who really can only deal with older kids (10+) I can guarantee you that if Raph hadn’t been fighting Slash when he crashed in on Leo’s teatime with that little girl he’d have sat down and joined in with zero hesitation. He’s also everyones go to guy when they just encounter children in the wild. Oh? There’s this lost child? Don’t worry uncle Raphs on it. The foot starts employing child ninjas? Give Raph half and hour and those kids will be on the side of good. God forbid he finds a mutated child or else splinter becomes the grandfather to some random mutant lizard he picked up cause Mona vaguely mentioned something about wanting kids in the future.
To summarise, Raph is a dad

Leonardo’s forgotten how much time has passed. His head jolted up, squinting from the sudden shift. His head felt groggy and discombobulated, yet comforting. He didn’t feel the usual tiredness that accompanied him like a right-hand man.  How much time had passed?
He checked the clock hanging near Chloe’s nightstand along with the oddly shaped lamp, the numbers 2:43 flashing in bright red. Thankfully, she was using military timing for her clock. Leo tried getting up from his spot, only to be weighed down by your limp head.
A smile crept on his face as he observed your sleeping expression; it looked so calm, so peaceful, almost as if your mind was empty from all doubts and fears. It looked so appealing, he couldn’t help but stare at it. Carefully propping your head on his hands, he laid you down so that you were leaning on the floor instead of on his shoulder. His hand lingered on your cheek, longer than usual. He quickly jerked away, his heart convulsing in strange, swift patterns. As he quietly climbed through the window, he glanced back at you and Chloe. Something had changed that night. He couldn’t recognize it, but something had shifted, possibly in or out of his favour. With one steady breath, he leapt out.
He quietly hopped over the turnstiles, careful to tip-toe back onto the beanbag or into his room where he could try and rest his head, key word being try. Before he could attempt either, a lamp flicked on, revealing Raphael’s irritated expression, more than his usual ticked off expression.
“Alright, hero boy, where have you been?”
“Just…patrolling. Doing solo missions is like, my thing.”
“No. Solo missions have never been your thing and when it has, it’s always gone for the worst. What’s going on?”
“Nothing!” he stated. “Nothing going on here, nope! Just usual Foot clan occurrences!”
“Really, Leo? You’ve been gone for hours and you think we’re going to let it go? You think me, Donnie and Mikey wouldn’t understand?” he said, pausing. “You think me and Donnie wouldn’t understand?”
“Salaì!” he blurted out. He kept blinking rapidly, thoughts whirling in his brain faster than he could process. Raph stared with his confused expression as Leo tried to stammer up a follow up. “I found someone who could help with Salaì, they could be the one who murdered those Foot Clan members.”
“We can’t bring someone in, they could bring a whole ambush onto us! Splinter’s already on our asses after slacking off, what would he say if we bring someone else from the surface?”
“Look, I’m the leader, I know this is going to work. Trust me, Raph.” he stated. Raphael’s face contorted, almost trying to comprehend the shift in his brother’s attitude. His eyebrows furrowed together and apart in a twisted pattern. After an excruciating minute of this, he finally let out a frustrated sigh.
“Fine, but if this goes wrong, I fucking told you so.”
You’d been mind blank all day. Compared to yesterday, you were a whole different person. What used to be paranoid silence with glances casting down hallways and hideaway shadows were now dull glances into nothingness with occasional gleeful smiles.
“Okay, what’s going on with you?”
Snapping out of your fog, you darted your gaze back to Tina, who was staring at you with confusion.
“What do you mean?”
“You’ve been completely silent all day and all yesterday! Something’s going on, isn’t it?”
“No, nothing going on. You don’t have to worry.” you reiterated, leaning against the grocery aisle, eyeing several boxes of hair dye.
“It’s the halloween party, isn’t it? We have plenty of time to gather a costume, don’t worry.” she stated, playfully slapping you on the head. You flinched, the impact hitting you harder than expected.
“So, by your logic, should I go for a more smoky boot blue alien or a two-toned haired tall alien?”
“That’s a new idea, did you get it from one of Maise’s old sci-fi shows?”
“Yeah…” you said, an aching feeling settling in your heart. “Yeah, I got it from that. I’m thinking of just mixing them both together.”
“Good idea, you can look double lame.” Tina remarked. You felt a buzz echo from your pocket, digging your hand through it to reveal your phone displaying another message.
leo:
Hey there!
y/n:
hey whats up
leo:
I need your help again. It’s on something important.
Only if you can, of course.
Your heart practically answered for you.
y/n:
sure, just give me a few mins
see you there :)
leo:
:))
Those three symbols imprinted a grin on your face. They quickly retracted back. Has it gotten that bad? You tucked your phone back to your pocket, before approaching Tina.
“I gotta get back home, are you good here?”
“Yeah, I got all I need. Thanks.” Tina said, patting you on the back as you sped off. A buzz from her phone made her jolt towards it.
tina:
Casey, what is it?
casey derulo:
Ok, i need you to confrim something w/ me
tina:
Confirm, and what?
casey derulo:
arent they acting a bit weird?
tina:
Yeah, they’re way more jumpy than usual
they’ve been staring at their phone like a fucking lovesick bug
casey derulo:
wait
WAIT
OH SHIT
tina:
What?
Casey what is it
Casey
Bitchboy answer me
casey derulo:
nvm
tina:
fuck you
Tina sighed with frustration, turning her phone off and continuing her shopping. Whatever drugs her friends were on was their business, not hers.
You walked down the familiar sewer you’ve walked down a million times before. Your headphones playing an old sci-fi show and filling into your ears. The familiar proclamation from the main protagonist was interrupted by a faint TV static noise. Like an actor and their on-screen cues, you followed the sound, pupils widening at the sight of Leo and another turtle mutant huddled close to the TV watching a show you had playing on your phone just before.
Quickly whipping out your phone, your fingers zipped across your keyboard.
y/n:
hey im here
:)
You slightly snickered watching Leo read your text, then dart his head towards you, eyes more shocked than ever. He quickly got up from his seat and approached you from behind the turnstiles.
“Hey.”
“Hey,” you said, this time with a wider smile. Leo’s expression remained the same. “What do you need my help for this time?”
“It’s… about one of our missions. We’re trying to figure out where a certain vile fiend is hiding and I think you can help.”
“Alright,” you answered, chuckling at his adorable proclamations. You knew he used outlandish language but now, you were hyper aware of it. It sent another pulse through your heart. A purple-banded head popped up from the background looking at you with confusion.
“Ah, you must be the friend Leonardo was talking about?”
“Yeah, that’s me. Nice to meet you…”
“Donatello, I’m the brains,” he stated, shaking your hand. Your eyes spotted a red blur from the background.
“Who’s that?”
“Oh, that’s Raph. He’s in a bit of a mood today.”
“Huh, okay,” you said. “So, what do you need my help with?”
You could feel Raph’s eyes indent the back of your head. While you were examining the canister they found from who knows where with an odd hexagonal insignia, you kept praying that his gaze would diverge somewhere, someone else.
“Raph, lay off them, okay?” Leo’s voice demanded. In a huff, Raph arose from his position and berated Leo, calling him an ‘idiot’ and ‘a true leader’. You didn’t pay any mind to that, your mind was only focused on the pattern. You’d seen this object before, and couldn’t quite put your finger on it. An odd object with a canister in the middle, you had seen this before.
Wait.
You’d seen it in Chloe’s room.
“What did you say this was again?” you remarked. All eyes previously focused on the bickering between brothers darted towards you.
“It was a mutagen canister.”
“Which you found from the Kraang, an alien species?”
“Yes, exactly, why?” Leo asked, his eyes laced with concern.
“There’s fingerprints on this, on the glass right there, and assuming the Kraang don’t have fingerprints, means that they have multiple scientists on the inside. If we either rescue them, we can halt their plan long enough to take them down.”
“So smart, brah!” Mikey thanked. You stared at Raphael, who was crossing his arms and staring daggers at you.
“Anyway, I gotta get home, it’s getting late. Just text me if you need anything like this again.”
“We will, don’t worry,” Leo said, staring at you while patting you on the back. It was as if his eyes were like magnets with the amount of times you found yourself staring into them. A realisation dawned on you at that moment. It was a realisation that came earlier but you weren’t sure. Doubt encircled your mind along with worry. You quickly broke it off, hopping away building by building until you disappeared over the horizon.
“Is that your new lover, Leo?”
“W-what? No! Of course not, they’re just friends.”
“When have we heard that before?” Donatello remarked.
“Enough, we are friends.”
Tina woke up to the sounds of pounding on her glass window. Irritation immediately filled her mind as she slipped on her slippers and approached the window. Darkness enveloped her room except for one ray of moonlight streaming in. A shadow covered her, standing on the fire escape, still banging. She slightly opened the window, frustration slightly lessening once she saw your face.
“Oh, it’s you. The fuck are you doing here?!” she hissed, sliding the window open. “It’s two in the morning, and if I lose my goddamn sleep because of-”
“I’m in love with Leo.”
“...Casey’s maths tutor?”
“Yeah…” you muttered.
“...Come inside,” Tina said, stepping aside and allowing you to hop inside. You rested on her soft wool carpet, making yourself comfortable as she rested on the side of her bed, her face illuminated by her lamp. “So, how did this happen?”
“I was babysitting Chloe and he knocked on the door, asking if he could help. I let him in and we spent the whole night babysitting and it clicked then. It’s been going through my head since.”
“He…helped you babysit? Like willingly?” she asked.
You nodded.
“Damn- okay, but is he nice?”
“Yes, he is.  Look,” you said, showing her your texts.
“He texted you a couple of times, and that’s it?” Tina said,
“Look I- I know I’m being a bit bold with this, but you need to trust me. My gut is telling me this is a good one to bet on. I’ve begged like this before, but this time it’s gonna last. Please Tina, you have to believe me.”
Tina sighed, rubbing her hand on her temple. She grabbed a nearby cup of tea, feeling the lingering warmth emanating into her hands.  “Fine, I’ll trust you on this. Again. Now, do you wanna plan Halloween costumes?”

Fanmix game! List three songs you associate with either your blorbo or your otp, then pass this on to three other people!
Congratulations you get three songs for three blorbos cause I'm indecisive as shit
Bumblebee:
"My Tears Ricochet" by Taylor Swift, because ever since I used a line from this in interdimensional, it has been permanently tied to that fic forever in my brain (you can see it here)
"Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley, which is also related to interdimensional because there's a bit where Bee friggin rickrolls Kestrel (which can also be found here)
"I'll Keep You Safe" by Sleeping at Last, a song about protecting the person you love and believe in, which is central to what Bee's like and how he behaves
Rise!Donnie:
"Weird Science" by Oingo Boingo, cause first of all that song name, also honestly if anyone's going to go the Frankenstein route, we know it's gonna be him
"Mainframe" by Kat McSnatch, which is not only a song about copmuter tech, but one that, and I say this lovingly, is the most obnoxious earworm I have ever heard
"Robot Rock" by Daft Punk, because songs about robots, and also a song with exactly two (2) words is the kind of thing you could listen to for hours on repeat
Bay!Raph:
"Family" by Mother Mother, which is all about being as crazy as the family you love more than anything, and few songs sum up the Bayverse better than that
"What's Up Danger" by Blackway & Black Caviar, another song about being a little crazy, this time in a way that makes you excited for danger and reckless
"Brother" by Lord Huron, another song about staying with your family, this time even if it kills you, and being unwilling to give up on family even when facing the impossible
