Hahaha, we're gonna do some would you rather's over the next couple weeks. This one feels a little out there, but if you had to pick a new read between a stepbrother romance or a brother in law romance, what's your go to?

I personally like the stepbrother romances when they become lawfully joined after they're already grown up and it has forced proximity and the will they won't they tension.

Some of the favorites have been Gas Or Ass by Eden Conner, Credence by Penelope Douglas, and Eyes On Me by Sara Cate. Do you have any other recommendations? I'd love to read them😘

Awks Feels!!

Q: How do you tell a boy you have feelings for him without being awkward about it?

Short answer: You don’t. It’s always awkward!

Long answer: All relationships require a degree of vulnerability, so if anything’s going to happen, you’re going to have to put your feelings on the line. But that doesn’t mean that you have to just pen the dude a sonnet out of the blue.

I’m a firm believer in show-don’t-tell, as in, convey your feelings through actions first. Ask him to hang out. Get to know him. Flirt with him a little. And then maybe shoot him a direct, mature text (yep, I think it’s OK to do this over text). Like, “I’ve gotta be honest, I’ve had a lot of fun hanging out with you lately, and I like you a lot J ” And if he doesn’t respond, you can always move to Siberia, I guess.

May I ask your opinion in regards to the story of this book, "Batman: The Killing Joke"?

May I also ask your opinion on what made Alan Moore's Batman story different (or his approach to this Batman story) from the other Batman stories at the time?

So I responded....

Dear *********-

Even though I do not know you, I am glad that you have taken interest in the graphic novel genre. I hope my response helps.

Alan Moore is a renowned story-teller, especially in the comic/graphic novel genre. As you may or may not know, "Watchmen," "V for Vendetta," and his other book "From Hell" have been made into major motion pictures. He has an incredible understanding of culture and his talent to translate that onto the page is masterful.

In "Batman: The Killing Joke," Moore focuses on the primal drives of of good and evil. Batman, a man with bountiful resources and success, wishes nothing more but to help the Joker and the city of Gotham. The Joker on the other hand, a man suffering from physical/mental deformity and tragic background, wishes nothing more but to perpetuate evil and cruelty. The idea being that a person is crafted by their circumstances. Batman reflects good, Joker reflects evil, all due to their upbringing and background.

Batman, in his plight of taking up the cape and mask, hopes that by making Gotham a better place, people like Joker and others won't be forced to suffer and therefore commit acts of evil. If the circumstances of Gotham City were made better, then the citizens would reflect that and evil would subside. The problem being in all of this is that you can never eradicate evil. There must be a balance between both good and bad. Here in lies the conflict that makes "Batman: The Killing Joke" so important. Moore uses Batman and Joker as symbols for a larger truth. While Batman may try to fully eradicate crime in Gotham, it will always be there despite his efforts. Joker is the embodiment of that fact.

It's one of the rare times we actually get some backstory/history about the Joker. We learn that he has motivations, he was forced into a corner, and evil forces led to his transition into a super villain. Most Batman stories assume that the Joker relies on pure insanity and has no motivation. This is not true.

Why is this all important? Moore crafts a Batman/Joker dynamic that is now a mainstay to the franchise. The popular Batman film "The Dark Knight," which came out in 2008, was partly inspired by this book. The sheer thematic power of the story, along with great artwork from Brian Bolland have made "Batman: The Killing Joke" a classic.

I hope this helps. The book is short and can be read in one sitting, so if you're looking for a quick read then you're in luck. I definitely encourage exploring the world of comics and graphic novels. I too used to only read classic and contemporary fiction. Now that I have been familiarized with the genre, however, it has easily become one my favorites.
