A 3 Star read for me | I say
He says
She says
Someone should count every mention of "say" in this book, I bet it's a huge amount.
I had to check the publishing date because that book feels really early 2010s to me. It was published 2013 so I guess it's fine, but the 2010s vibes are there. Strongly. It kind of feels like something you would find on wattpad
I do like that it's an easy read, or listen if you're on audiobook, and the chapters are really short which I LOVE.
I didn't really feel the tragic ending tho. It told me that it was sad but I didn't feel it.

My months of rest and relaxation // day 49
Today I originally planned to take most of the day off to have a small trip with my mom, but in the end we did not manage to. We still managed to take a couple of hours in the afternoon to grab a tea together. I have not been super energetic these past couple of days so it was fine. I have done quite a lot in the morning, as I created almost all the spreads I needed in my reading journal both for the end of 2022 and for the beginning of 2023, so I am really happy about that. I plan on finishing the day off by continuing reading Baptism Of Fire. I want to finish it before the end of the year, and I am pretty sure I can manage to do that, but I have to be consistent. As for the rest I want to dedicate my week to resting and finishing setting up my bullet journal and my reading journal. These are my only goals for the week.
Productivity:
Updated my reading journal
Did the 2023 set up of my reading journal
Posted the second chapter of my journaling 101 series
Practiced Irish on duolingo
Worked on a couple of future posts
Self care:
Read first thing in the morning
Listened to music for most of the morning as I was working on my reading journal
Spent part of my afternoon with my mom
lunlun's reading challenge // day 28
Is there a book you are waiting and excited for?
At the moment on my tbr I have a couple of books I am really excited about. Mainly the seventh and eighth volumes of The Sandman, which I got for christmas. I am also really excited for The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrell, since Hamnet was my favourite read of the year.
📖: Baptism Of Fire by Andrzej Sapkowski
🎵: Burn The Witch by Shawn James

i'm trying to surpass my goodreads annual reading goal.
you may be thinking, 'thats ambitious'. well my annual goal is 10, so not that much. and i am trying to get really into reading. so here is my hypothesis.
it takes me around two-three weeks to finish a standard length book, when im really invested into it, (which is what i am trying to do for every book). there are about fifteen weeks left in 2023. so if you do the math, i could read five more books this year if i am on top reading form. at the minute i have read seven books this year so hopefully i will be able to do it. i will update you all if i am able to achieve this. love goodreads.

The assumption that people who read 100+ books a year are “only doing it for clout” and “don’t retain anything” is tedious and needs to stop being spread around
SOME of us have 1000+ book TBRs that are also constantly being added to and need to get through them before they die

a more specific version of my reading goals poll
i like the broader categories of the first but seeing answers start coming in has made me more curious, especially about how many people have a goal of 100. if you want to vote on the other poll too it should be running until the 7th. and as always feel free to leave your specific number in the tags!

A 5 Star read for me | This book was PERFECTION
Erin, girly, come here and let me give you a kiss.
FINALLY, after what feels like forever I found a good wotch book. I love witches, I want to read all about witches but no book hit like this. NO. BOOK. It's such a cute and funny and cozy read for spooky season!
The little breakup at the end was unnecessary but I can look over that. I devoured that book! The writing was great, the plot made sense, the romance was amazing, the characters have my heart
Love love LOVED IT

Three months after Oscar went to prison, Bosie wrote a poem called Rondeau:
If he were here, this glorious sky,
This sweet blue sea, these ships that lie
On the bay’s bosom, like white sheep
On English fields, these hours that creep
Golden in summer’s panoply,
This wind that seems a lover’s sigh,
Would make a heaven of peace as high
As God’s great love, a bliss as deep,
If he were here.
This great peace does but magnify
My great unrest that will not die,
My deep despair that may not reap
One poppy, one poor hour of sleep,
Nor aught but pain to wake and cry,
‘If he were here!’
Bosie poem.

April/May Reading Blurb
It's already May 1st which means another month of reading to plan out.
I am steadily chugging along with my Reading Goal for the year. I am 8/12 books in and feeling great about it. My most recent April reads were The Stillwater Girls, The Woman In Me, and Counting The Cost.
I recently suffered the loss of someone that I grew up with. It gave me quite a shell shock and now I am left navigating this grief.
I am thankful for books in times like these. Till next time.

I’ve been seeing this or similar statements going around: “Making your reading goal 50+ takes the fun and joy out of reading!”
It’s okay to reassure others that they don’t need to read 50+ books if they can’t, but if people want to and are able to, let’s not lie to people and say it takes the joy out of reading. That may be the case for you but it might not be for everyone else so stop saying things like they’re law.
