Realize Model Blade Liger

As someone who mostly builds Gunpla, but has also built a motorized Zoids model kit recently, this feels very Gunpla. Like, if you enjoy Gunpla, and you want a change-up, you'll probably enjoy this. That being said, it's older Gunpla, being very polycap reliant, but does have interesting joint placement for good posability. It's very interesting.

The Good: Very detailed, good build quality, a lot of posability. It has a couple features like the quite articulate side blades, effect parts for said blades, and opening vents along the head and legs. It also has a few optional parts in different mane parts and pilots so you can recreate the specific first Blade Liger or the mass production model in case you wanted to paint it red or something.

The Bad: There are a few gaps, like on the neck, that could have used a bit more plastic filling in the gaps so they look good in more poses. I'm also disappointed the tail is a solid piece. The only way I could think to make it posable on this scale is maybe wrap shell parts around a large wire? But I wish it had one or two joints to it.

The Scale Issue: So these are 1/100 scale compared to Zoids' usual 1/72 scale. And, honestly, I feel like them being 1/100 creates a few issues? Like, I wish these were 1/144. It's partially because they feel like they're going for a very Gunpla feel and should match that scale, but there's a bit more to it than that. Like, the smallest pieces are about half as big as a Gundam's face, it's got big polycaps, thick detail lines; they feel like they could be easily scaled down, which would also benefit in reducing their price.

The Details: As the name may suggest, these are pretty detailed kits. There are a few prepainted parts, like the blades and tail. I really just added panel lining to bring out the details. I also chose to use the first Blade Liger parts and pilots.

Overall, it's a very interesting kit. I wish it was a bit smaller, and I feel like the kit kind of accommodates my opinions, but it's still very cool. If an RM Zoid kit comes out that you like, I'd say give it a chance. These're cool, and this isn't even the only one I've built. Though my opinions of the Blade Liger are a bit higher than that of its rival...

Columbo and the Knight (1984)

put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.

Realize Model Geno Saurer

When it comes to bang for your buck, this one feels like it deserves it more than Blade Liger. Blade Liger is good, but Geno Saurer has a lot more moving parts, more interesting gimmicks, and is bigger. That being said, I had more issues with Geno Saurer than I did with Blade Liger, so let's get to discussing those.

The Good: As I said, the Geno Saurer has a lot more moving parts than the Blade Liger, and is therefore a bit more posable. You have to work the joints a bit more, but it has good range in most places, an actually posable tail, plenty of opening vents, heel spurs, leg thrusters, backpack cannons, etc. While the Blade Liger has better flow, Geno has more options.

Like the Blade Liger, the Geno Saurer also has its fair share of gimmicks. It has its choice of pilot, forehead cannons, and mouth guns, as well as having all the opening vents along the body and an effect part so you can recreate it using it's signature attack, along with some for the back cannons.

The Bad: Like I said before, you really have to work the Geno Saurer more to get it into a good pose whereas the Blade Liger is very easy to get to look good.

The biggest issue I had with the Geno Saurer, however, was parts fragility. I had two or three breakages on parts for the head, mostly the cannons on it. It's been a bit, but I think the smaller cannon I didn't use just straight broke, and one of the fins on the bigger one bent, which was not an issue I had with the Blade Liger. Just saying, be careful when cutting and handling parts, especially the light grey sprew.

The Details: For the most part I just panel lined this guy. Because a lot of it was black I didn't even have to do that much? One thing I did do, however, was I painted the interior of the beam effect metallic blue. It was clear before, and I think the color adds a lot.

Overall, it's a pretty good kit, but seems to have some fragility issues to look out for. That being said, it's pretty cool. I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually got a Geno Breaker based on this guy. Not sure I'm gonna get it, but if you don't like this one then wait for it in red.
