Rei x Reader (Part 1?) I’m in Love with the Antagonist!

A/n - Life’s been kinda rough, and I don’t think I’ll go back to writing requests just yet. I just felt inspired by the latest episode of I’m in Love with the Villianness (Hated the Lene and Lambert plot tho). Idk if I’ll make this a series.

DISCLAIMER - This story is heavily inspired by the anime/manga, I’m in Love with the Villianess. Literally the same kinda plot with diff characters, but no knowledge of the series is needed to read this.

“Incompetent! Are you dosing off right now? Honestly, I can’t believe a prestigious school like Hope’s Peak doesn’t give out entrance exams to be rid of nitwits like yourself.”

Rei’s harsh words echoed through your mind as you read them off her text window. Her dialogue wasn’t spoken aloud, only a single “Hmph!” voice bit accompanying her written speech. You liked to imagine her voice as stern and demeaning, adding a few of your own headcannons to it.

 Rei Mekaru was a girl who worked her way to the top, and looked down on you, someone she thought was nothing but useless and spoiled.

This girl was your escape from reality. The daily pressures of work and school, trying to socialize but not having anyone who shares your interests, and parents who only demand more and more. With life’s chains wrapped around your body, straining your every movement, your sole outlet of freedom was this silly otome game.

Funny enough, Rei Mekaru was not a love interest, but the antagonist of the story. In this game you could ramble about for hours, the MC was a student of Hope’s Peak’s 79th class, the Ultimate Baker. It may have been a choose-your-own-path type of game, but when your favorite character wasn’t a love interest, it felt a bit limiting. The love interests consisted of the nine boys in your class: Utsuro Maeda, his twin Yuki Maeda, Tsurugi Kinjo, Kinji Uehara, Yamato Kisaragi, Mitsuhiro Higa, Teruya Otori, Haruhiko Kobashikawa, and Kakeru Yamaguchi with specific events, affection levels, and cgs for each character. 

You had your favorites, but weren’t really interested in any of them. Instead, you’d comb through their routes to explore new dialogue and cgs with Rei Mekaru, who over the course of the game, ignores, humiliates, and tries to best the MC in every way. 

She was just so cute!! Rei may seem cruel, but she has a distorted view of the world, sorting people as competent and incompetent, thanks to her backstory of being abandoned by her parents and studying to keep herself off the streets. It was a shame for it all to be sidelined in favor of the love interests. 

Your eyes drooped, and you began to fall asleep to your favorite game for perhaps the hundredth time. But that was okay, the game’s background music and annoyed sprite of your favorite character was enough to keep you content, even after a rough day of being worked to exhaustion.

You were jolted awake by the sound of a hand pounding on the school desk you had been resting your head on. 

“Incompetent! Wake up! Have you not heard a word I was saying!?”

Rei looked pissed, now straightening her posture and glaring down at you.

“…Oh my god….”

You weren’t in your bedroom anymore. Hell, you weren’t even in your world anymore. You didn’t need to look at the classroom scenery twice to know you were in Hope’s Peak. And you wouldn’t, as the beautiful and familiar girl in front of you captured your complete attention.

Rei Mekaru was here in front of you. This wasn’t a cosplay or just a dream. The girl whose design, backstory, and character you loved so much was standing right in front of you, with her classic annoyed expression and her voice as irritated and angelic as you imagined. 

“…Do I have to repeat myself again?” She sighed, “You-...?”

Were your eyes sparkling? Maybe, you resembled your designable avatar, and was basically an anime character now. Were you shaking? Not a bone in your body could remain still, and you fought the urge to hug her right there. 

“You are amazing…” You breathed. 

“Wh-What..!? D-Don’t speak such nonsense!” Rei looked completely taken aback. 

You still couldn’t believe it. Not only were you in your favorite game, but you could do and say whatever you wanted! You could spend time with Rei! You could get close to her! And maybe even…!

You took a breath. She is a person, not an object. You couldn’t force herself into anything. Plus, this game is supposed to be centered around boys.

But with your knowledge of her future, her past, and her character…

You may be able to forge your own path.

⭐️ Kizuna is so touch starved, she doesn’t even know how to react when you first hug her. She just stands there and cries but when you ask she just says that she had something in her eye.

⭐️ Her relationship with you was the first time she had ever been able to open out and be vulnerable, she’ll probably try and shove you off the first few times you try and hug her. But she’ll start accepting them after a little while.

⭐️ Kizuna loves your hugs and after a little bit of time she’ll start to get pissy if you don’t hug her that day.

🏹 Oh my god! Physical touch is her love language as well! The first time you hug her, she will try and lift you up and spin you around, and spoiler alert! It doesn’t go very well.

🏹 But from this day forward the two of you have an unspoken competition to see who can hug each other the most. And she’s the Ultimate Sharp Shooter. So you are really in for a treat. She’ll commit a lot of sneak attacks

🏹 Kiyoka just loves hugs all around. Unlike Rei, she’ll do it in public without any hesitations. She has no shame when it comes to light PDA.

Akane Taira

🫧 Another touch starved girlie, she also cries when you first hug her because she has barely ever had gotten physically affection from her life as she grew up in an orphanage and then she served Utsuro, someone who wasn’t keen on anything.

🫧 Akane loves you so much and she’ll probably end up copying your mannerisms of constant physical affection. And despite this Akane will always blush a deep red when you hug her.

🫧 Although she loves you to no end, Akane would end up feeling slightly overwhelmed by the affection every so often. But she stilled loved to be my your side even when she feels overwhelmed.

Ayame Hatano

👟 Ayame gets so embarrassed and blush when you first hug her. Despite being hugged a ton platonically. She love you and Ayame just doesn’t know how to handle it.

👟 She had never been good with romance before and she wasn’t good at it starting then either. But Ayame loves when you surprise her with hugs especially on days she’s just feeling overall really down about everything.

👟 Ayame loves when you hug her after a race even after she has already told you not to over and over because she’s sweaty but always do so anyways because you love her and don’t care if she’s a little stinky.

Mikako Kurokawa

🔮 ANOTHER TOUCH STARVED GIRL. Please give Mikako all your love, she deserves it. She won’t cry when you first do it, as she’s become used to hugs thanks to Yamato.

She initially dismissed you like everyone else for being a prodigy who she thought didn’t have to work as hard as she did in life so she was rather surprised but pleased to discover your skill as a nurse comes from hard work and determination much like her teaching abilities.

As someone with a disappointing family, she is sympathetic to your backstory about your horrid family and is proud of you for taking the step to improve your own situation over just hoping for someone to save you from your family. She would love to hear about how you managed to get your hands on medical textbooks and equipment since your family obviously couldn’t have been the source.

If you want your family to be put away for their abuse, Rei would be happy to help with some of her connections through the students she’s taught and acknowledged as competent. She would discourage the idea of you asking Kinjo to help as even if he’s the Ultimate Police Officer, he can be a bit manic and she thinks she can help you find better people to get on the case, however she will enlist Kinjo’s help if she can’t get someone better.

If you two were put in the killing game together, she would only be willing to cooperate with you for most of the game, she’d take your autopsies over Inori’s and would help you figure out who the culprit is and how they did it but she wouldn’t spell it out for you, you’re competent enough to learn how to become a fully fledged nurse while being abused by your family at home and by your peers at school, she’s sure you’re competent enough to figure out who the culprit is from your investigations together and some hints she’s willing to give.

On days where your past is haunting you, she would help you feel better by taking you on a date in a place like the library or somewhere that you two can simply relax and chat so you can unwind from stress. It’s during dates that you really get to see Rei’s softer side and she may even open up to you about how her life on the streets affected her since she feels much more comfortable being a little vulnerable around you.

She was extremely excited to be classmates with you due to your talents both coming from the medical field. It’s extremely likely that she’s at the very least heard about you prior to coming to Hope’s Peak as people have speculated how well you two would work together as teenagers with extensive medical knowledge who outclass working adults.

Kanata’s heart would break when she finds out you gained so much medical knowledge because no one would treat your injuries. She did worry about the bandages around your body but she didn’t comment on them as they were well bandaged and she just figured they were from an accident. The fact they come from abuse from your family is devastating to her. Considering how she comes from a loving family, both biological and adopted, she struggles to fathom how someone could be so heartless to their own family though she is reminded that she’s had a few surgeries on people who were attacked by their spouses or romantic partners. It really hits her how cruel people can be when someone she’s close to is a victim of abuse. 

If you ever wanted to pursue getting your family arrested for their crimes, she would encourage you to get Kakeru on the case, as the Ultimate Lawyer, he can definitely help you assemble a case to get them charged for child abuse so you don’t have to worry about them anymore but she won’t push the matter if you want someone else to handle the case, this is your family matter after all.

She would love to introduce you to her adopted family, especially her father, as she firmly believes you deserve to experience what it’s like to have a proper family and with how selflessly the Andos were in taking her in when she had nothing, she’s sure they’ll be able to help you experience the familial love you never got.

In the killing game, you two are major sources of comfort to each other over being unable to save the lives of your classmates. As medical professionals, it’s extremely frustrating and upsetting that you two are never able to save your classmates as they continue to die one by one due to the motives given by Monokuma. When making autopsies she would love having your help so she doesn’t potentially make any mistakes in identifying injuries and causes of death, while she she is confident she can identify them, it’s always good to have a second opinion.

On days where your past is haunting you, she would try to take your mind off it going on dates with you in places like the park. She usually doesn’t go to places like these because she’s so busy with work and she would normally spend time with you talking about patient stories or general medical knowledge, she would comfort you by trying out something completely different from those activities since you may not want to discuss them when in that state. If you do still want to discuss them she’d be happy to chat about it but it wouldn’t be her first idea in helping you.

We had been locked in this killing game for two days. Two days that I investigated all day long, only to end up no further ahead than the others. From time to time I stopped at the antique store, where I saw Teruya. For some reason, he spent a lot of time in this room, although I didn't see much point in it. Even today, I continue my research. Thinking of finding some information, I enter the antique store. Teruya is there, as usual.

Hi, Teruya.

The boy turns to me, surprised at first, before smiling broadly.

Oh, hi, (Y/N) ! What'cha doin' her' ?

Just tryin' to investigate. And you ? I see you here everyday, do you really find this place interersting ?

Even if it's not going to help us get out of here, unfortunately. Suddenly, during the discussion, Monokuma appears and tells us that he has prepared a mobile for us. Yuki therefore decides to go see what it is before everyone else, but a few minutes later, we hear a cry. His shout. So we all rush to join him, and we find him in a bad state in front of one of the computers. After a short explanation of what Yuki saw, we decide to watch our DVDs too.

After the video I was watching is over, I let out a scream of terror. That couldn't be true, could it ? This video had to be a montage, right ? I look at my comrades, trembling. They too have an expression of terror on their face. Some like Teruya or Satsuki even started to cry, panicked.

C-Come on... T-This is a joke, don't you think ? T-This video has to be manipulated ! You don't trust that, do you ?!

But unfortunately, my words did not reach anyone. Anyway, no one would have taken me seriously, would they ? After all, I'm just as horrified as they are.

Guys, (Y/N) is right. Let's calm down and forget what we saw, okay ?

K-Kinjo...

Yeah, psycho cop is right. This has to be some bullshit manipulated by Monokuma.

The discussion continues until just about everyone has calmed down. Then, we leave the room one by one, returning to our usual activities. For my part, I decide to go see Teruya. He seemed really affected by the situation, after all. Who would I be if I didn't help my classmates feel better ? As usual, I find the merchant in the antique store. I approach him slowly.

Teruya ?

He turns to me, his tears still falling a bit. Slowly, I step up to him and take him in my arms, gently rubbing his back and whispering reassuring words to him. I have no idea what drives me to give him so much affection over others. Maybe it's just because I feel the need to protect him ? The young boy buried his head in my neck, and I heard him sob. I feel his body shiver in my arms as I continue to reassure him. After several long minutes, he finally calms down and I hear him whisper a weak "Thank you". When I move a little to look at him, I see that he has finally fallen asleep. So I decide to carry him and take him to his room. Once there, I put him in his bed and then go out, now going to my own room. Shortly after, when I was on the verge of sinking into Morpheus' arms, the announcement of night time is heard.

The next day, as usual, we meet in the refectory. However, this time Kiyoka and Rei are missing. Worried, the others decide to go looking for them. After a long time, I finally hear a scream. So I rush to see what's going on. Once there, I find Akane in front of the girls' bathroom, her eyes glued to...a corpse. Kiyoka Maki's corpse.

GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!

My cry was much louder than Akane's, so everyone eventually came running to see what was going on. Eventually, a body discovery announcement sounds. However, Rei has not yet joined us. The others inform me that the teacher cannot be found. She eventually arrives after a long time, and Monokuma appears to start the investigation.

During the trial, I remained silent for a long time, listening to everything the others said. However, I have a lot of objections to make. It's only when Mitsuhiro finally accuses me that I break down.

That's bullshit ! Shut your fucking mouth, Higa ! Seriously, don't you think YOU'RE suspicious ?! You're literally accusing everyone since the begenning of this fucking class trial ! Do you have something to hide ?! Because you're acting exactly like a criminal right now !!

The room becomes silent. Everyone looks at me with an expression of shock.

How do you expect me to calm down, Kurokawa ?! This crazy bastard is literally accusing everyone but him and acting like a fucking criminal !!

Mikako gives me a very slight smile. Then the trial resumes.

After a good thirty minutes, we come to the conclusion that Mitsuhiro is indeed the culprit. He is therefore executed before our eyes. After the execution, we are treated to a huge crack-up from Tsurugi, who forbids us to "call this criminal a friend". What I answer with a magnificent slap.

Why should we listen to you, psycho cop ? You don't even see us as friends, so why would you care about what Higa is ?!

I turn my back to him, ready to leave the room.

And anyway, the true criminal is the one behind that fucking pedobear !

With these words, I leave the room, leaving behind an outraged Monokuma at my words and a shocked Tsurugi at my behavior. When I finally arrive in my room, I collapse on my bed and fall asleep immediately.

The next morning, we all gather in the refectory. There, Tsurugi gives us a new speech, inviting all those who do not want to follow his orders to leave the room. Rei gets up and heads for the exit.

The redhead leaves without saying anything. Annoyed by Tsurugi's remarks, I bang my fist hard on the table as I stand up.

With these words, I leave the room. As I walk away, I see Kinji and Kizuna come out as well. Without paying attention to them, I go to where there was the gate that prevented access to the stairs that go up to the second floor. As I thought, she was no longer there. So I go up to the second floor and start exploring it.

After a few minutes, while inspecting the metal plates that block the windows in a classroom, I hear the door open and a voice I immediately recognize.

Ah, hey (Y/N) !

I turn back to the little merchant. He approaches me, a broad smile on his lips. Why do I feel like he's happy to see me ? And why, as soon as he walked into the room, did my worry and stress evaporate ?

Is your investigation goin' well ?

And above all, since he came out, my anxiety has returned. And I don't know why, but when he's not around I feel lonely. What effect does he have on me ? Why do I feel like I need his presence so much ?

I sigh again before finally going back down to the first floor. Who can help me understand this feeling ? Kakeru ? Kinjii ? Haruhiko ? Yuki ? Tsurugi ? No... Definitely not Tsurugi. And I doubt Kakeru and Kinji know enough about it. And Yuki ? I don't really trust him. So only Haruhiko remains. Yeah, I'll ask Haruhiko.

On this thought, I therefore begin to look for the young pilot. Looking for him, I come across Rei. She informs me that she saw him on the second floor. So I go back to the second floor. And, indeed, the young man is there, in the corridor. I approach him.

Hey, Kobashikawa !

He turns to me, slightly surprised. I guess he didn't expect to see me.

Ah, it's you, (Y/N) ! What do you want ?

Can I talk to you about something ?

Sure, what is it ?

Okay then follow me !

So I follow him to the first floor, then to his bedroom. He ushers me in and tells me to sit on his bed, which I do.

Haruhiko comes out of his room and we follow the lucky guy to the bathhouse. When we arrive, I see that Tsurugi, Kakeru, Kinji and Teruya are already there.

It's our fault, (Y/N) and I were talking together in my room.

Well, let's get ready !

With these words, we get ready in the locker room and then we go to the room with the bathtub. It's hot there and by dipping my hand in the water I see that it is at the perfect temperature. Without hesitation, Teruya goes straight into the bathtub. I join him quickly.

I look at the merchant, surprised to see him respond so quickly. His gaze turns to me, then he smiles.

Immediately my cheeks turned red. Then, I feel two hands push me towards Teruya. The little merchant catches up to me and gently places his lips on mine. I feel him giving me some space, he probably thinks I'm going to push him away. But this is not the case. On the contrary, I tenderly respond to the kiss. After a few minutes, we part and I manage to whisper a "Me too", my face being totally red.

After this magic moment, I promise to get Teruya out of this killing game, and it is on these magic notes that the killing game continues.

Akane loves how clingy and affectionate you are. She's really touch starved and clingy too, so she definitely appreciates your affection and will return it to you tenfold.

The only time when she'll reject your affection is if you hug her while she's doing a chore like washing the dishes or cooking, while she absolutely adores your hugs she takes her job very seriously and she knows distraction might be dangerous so she'll politely tell you to stop and promise you a cuddle session later.

She doesn't mind if you're clingy in public, she is too. By now, your friends are used to you hugging and kissing each other every 5 minutes.

At least akane doesn't randomly try to hug utsuro anymore cause she has you now.

Rei mekaru

Good luck trying to give her affection because she will reject you almost every time and probably call you an idiot too, her personality explains it all she is not an affectionate person at all.

If you try to hug her, she'll pull you away. If you kiss her cheek, she'll glare at you and if you try and kiss her lips she'll just blush alot and pull back.

She's slightly more accepting in private, she'll still blush, but at least not pull you away. There are moments when she needs it, though, like when she's grading tests, coffee and your hugs give her the energy to handle stupidity.

She actually likes to give you small affectionate gestures as a reward for passing tests, stuff like cheek kisses or cuddles so that you're encouraged to study more, don't you dare tell anyone that though.

Hibiki was a bit stubborn when it came to hiring a wedding planner, but cracked under the pressure of preparing a wedding and agreed after less than a month (She still claims she can do it herself, she just hired her for you)

She's there for you if you ever need to rant or vent about the drama in your friend group, as she's  vented to you many times about annoying fans or her colleagues going missing 

However, she had no idea had bad it was until your wedding day. She didn't mind the expensive and flashy decor, thinking you had been the one to pick it out, but when she learns how possessive your planner had been? Hibiki won't hesitate to tear her a new one, only stopping when she sees the state your in

"Y-Y/n! Don't cry...! It's going to be okay. It was all Helen's fault! Not yours! H-Hey...we don't need her. We'll make our own perfect day! I-I promise...I'll make it happen!"

Hibiki postpones the wedding, turning the venue into a private concert just for you. She sings your favorite songs before taking you to a five star buffet. The two of you treat yourselves to a nice spa day, and take time for yourself 

She fired the planner, and probably gets Kanade to help her leave a bunch of anonymous bad reviews. The planner is forced to quit after also being spammed by Hibiki's angry fans

After making sure you were alright and getting rid of the planner, Hibiki decides that she'll plan this wedding once and for all, pushing away Kanade's help.

It took a lot of her blood, sweat, and tears to do everything herself, being one of her first independent projects, but it was worth it in her eyes as she saw your face light up.

The two of you were going to have the wedding of your dreams, planners be damned!

Rei Mekaru:

Rei didn't have any objections to a planner, being too busy to plan the wedding herself. As long as you hired someone with good reviews from a reliable source, she was fine with it

She tried to decrease her workload in favor of spending more time with you, but she only found you getting more stressed and anxious about your wedding

She tried not to press you on it, but was getting increasingly worried about you (Not that she'd admit it, of course) Rei eventually confronts the planner, who assures her that nothing is wrong and everything is going well

She doesn't believe it for a second, easily deducing that the planner was the cause of your stress. To confirm her hypothesis, she asks to see some of the decor, knowing exactly the kind of decor that you'd like

As she expected, it was nothing like how you'd want. Rei confronts you in private about the planner, and what she's doing, but you assure her that you don't mind, and since the planner is your friend, you don't want to hurt her feelings or push her away

Rei knows little about friends, and knew/cared even less about feelings before she met you. She told herself to trust you, and not meddle in things beyond her understanding. With her own work piling up, she eventually decided to leave the wedding to you and your friends 

When you break down, she can only blame herself and that damn planner. She fires her on the spot, and ushers your friends away to give you space.

"...Y/n. Don't be so hard on yourself. I should have payed closer attention to you, perhaps then I could have prevented something like this. Apologies, Y/n, but I'm here now." 

Rei is fine with getting eloped, but she wants this wedding day for you. For once, she completely pushes her work to the side, even cancelling a few lectures, and hires a better planner. 

She becomes much more involved, in both the wedding and taking care of you. Despite being aloof at times, she doesn’t hesitate to comfort you whenever you feel stressed again

Eventually, the wedding is in full swing, and better than either of you could have possibly imagined. 

Kanade Otonokoji:

Kanade was probably against the idea of a wedding planner, wanting to be able to go through everything with you herself 

She considers herself to be a jack of all trades, so she just thought it wasn't necessary, but with some drama in your friend group, you told her that it could lessen the stress for the both of you 

She agreed to it for your sake, but a part of her was already plotting to murder the planner

To her surprise, this wedding planner brought chaos in itself, driving your friends against each other

She hated the way it was bringing you down, but she got to have you all to herself! 

She catches on to the way the wedding planning is ignoring your ideas, going for the grandest and most expensive decor, even if it wasn't what you wanted

With her money from tours, she preordered decor that would be more to your liking in advance, and curiously waited to see how this would play out

Kanade feels an ounce of guilt, when everything comes crashing down on your wedding day, but as she sees how helpless you are, she falls back in love with you 

"Y/n...don't worry darling... this isn't your fault. Your future wife will handle this herself, and give you the wedding you deserve...Fufufu~."

You couldn't be more grateful to have her as she stays by your side, wiping your tears away, and cuddling you for the rest of the day

Surprisingly, you never hear from the planner again, and all the expensive decor is gone within the day

You're in complete awe as Kanade brings out the decor she bought, preparing the wedding herself down to the last detail

It's perfect for the two of you, and there's a smile on your face the entire day

Yamato Kisaragi:

Yamato didn't mind having a wedding planner, and encouraged it after hearing how the two of you became close friends rather quickly, but he did notice your best friend becoming slightly jealous

He wanted the day to be the perfect day for the both of you! (mostly you)

Over the next few months, he could tell that you were becoming stressed, so he suggested for you to enjoy some time with your friends and bridesmaids! However, this only seemed to stress you out more...

He deduced that the wedding planner had something to do with it, and could easily tell that the wedding she was preparing for you was not what you had in mind

As one of your bridesmaids, Mikako eventually tells him what's going on, and the drama within your friend group. Despite Yamato's excitement for a wedding, he isn't afraid to postpone it to put your happiness first

But you keep insisting that everything was fine. There was nothing going on between your friends, your planner, and this decor that just wasn't you...

Yamato feels nothing but guilt that he couldn't prevent you from having a breakdown on your wedding day of all times, but he postpones it and the two of you spend the day together

"Hey, it's okay, Y/n. All I want is to spend the rest of my life with you. This wedding is just a ceremony to celebrate that! I just want you to be happy on your wedding day, that's all that matters, okay?"

He tells the wedding planner what happened and how he appreciated her service, but he felt she didn't fit your needs well (The only character here who politely fires her)

He leaves it up to you on if you'd like to still be friends with her, and hires a trusted planner recommended by one of the Kisaragi foundation employees who listens to you this time

A few months later, he finds himself moments away from crying his own river of joyful tears, seeing you walk down the aisle

In case you don't know Tf2. The Medic has little regard for the Hippocratic Oath and and is deathly curious about human flesh and/or pain, regularly performing crazy and unethical experiments. But for some reason they work and actually helps a lot in the medical field. Rei Mekaru

When Rei first met you during the Killing Game, she figured you were some poor naive incompetent soul. She just figured you were a Kanata 2.0, especially with your personality.

But that changed during the first trial and investigation where whenever conversation about her body, you were leading the conversation. Immediately shooting down whatever brain-less idea one moron had come up with. And that intrigued her.

During chapter two she had gotten your secret; S/O might have experimented on the bodies of those who were unlikely to make it. This intrigued Rei even more because you had made so many improvements to the field of medicine.

She was slightly shocked but you saying yes almost immediately.

After that, for every investigation Rei would make sure that you could properly investigate the bodies and would only ask you information about the corpses. You impressed literally everyone and you earned a far better title to Rei than an incompetent.

After you survived with her she would probably ask you out.

But when word got up of your unethical experiments, Kinjo and Keisuke were not happy whatsoever.

After the Killing Game, you were definitely not hired by the Kisaragi Foundation, Tsurugi definitely considers you a criminal. So you have to work at a hospital.
