About "Twin Flames"
If you scroll through the witchcraft, tarot, or divination tags with any sort of regularity, you are bound to come across the mention of Twin Flames - and you may be thinking, “oh, this is just another flaky term for soulmates”. You’re partially right, but it’s also a cult. The Harmonious Twin Flames Universe is a cult that was created by Jeff Divine (formerly known at one point as Ender Ayanethos) and his wife, Shaleia.
Much like Scientology, HTFU aims to take your money by exploiting your weaknesses - specifically, a desire to love and be loved by a soulmate. HTFU relies on similar cult models as L. Ron Hubbard’s Scientology and Keith Raniere’s NXIVM; combining new age concepts with religious belief, as well as multi-level marketing and wellness. Twin Flames recruiters often use YouTube or other social media platforms, offering divination readings using numerology, tarot, angel numbers, etc., to essentially cold read a new recruit and get them interested in the HTFU.
One of the main features in the HTFU is the use of the “mirror exercise” which aims to take any event that left the participant feeling sad or unhappy and re-frame it in a way that places the blame directly on them. It is specifically designed to adjust someone’s thoughts and keep them within the cult, and rapidly becoming more dependent upon it.
How:
By offering courses for ascension” and instruction on how to “clear blockages”. Participants pay for these classes and begin a cycle of instruction which frames every bad thing in their life as being their fault; and that they must continue to pay for further teachings to remove these spiritual blockages which prevent them from ascending to their more divine self - which will make them deserving of their own perfect Twin Flame.
Additionally, because the HTFU demographic is a majority of women, former members of the cult have stated that the leaders and the readers will attempt to even out this imbalance by informing cishet women that they are actually the embodiment of the divine masculine in their Twin Flame relationship. The gaslighting is real, y’all.
Former members have cited abusive behavior amongst the leaders and inner circle members; this information can be found in books, podcasts, news articles, and documentaries that have been created about the HTFU over the last few years. The point of the cult is to create a vicious cycle of emotional abuse that keeps its victims dependent on expensive classes that give nonsense answers and shift blame back onto the victim, which then keeps them coming back for more.
Why it’s Important:
Current spiritual and witchcraft communities can use similar language - a repetition of jargon and buzzwords that shut down critical thinking. No, witchcraft as it currently stands, does not have a specific cult that I can tell you to watch out for; but it is important to familiarize yourself with the language so that you know what to look for. Influencers can be dangerous; people who put themselves in a position of authority, promising things such as:
-Online attunements, alignments, or initiations. You know how reiki has attunements and you have to pay for them in order to level up your reiki skills? Yeah. That’s because reiki is a holdover from a cult too. The internet has made it so much easier to work these kinds of grifts as well - because everything can be done online, over zoom or a voice call; and well, sometimes it “doesn’t take” and you have to get the ritual done again…for a fee, of course. But hey, maybe you’ll get a discount if the first one didn’t work!
-Things that build dependence such as the promise of exclusive mentoring, healing sessions, guidance and ritual. In and of themselves these are not necessarily a red flag, but it’s how the person behaves, how they attempt to steer a customer’s mind that makes the difference. Do they try to keep you coming back for more? Do they tell you that you are under some kind of attack? Do they make you feel special or chosen?
-Perpetuating an Us versus Them mentality that is both hostile and isolating. A charismatic leader will also portray themselves as a victim of unfair persecution; and with this they look to get you on their side, make you isolate yourself going to extreme lengths to defend and protect them - after all, you may be “the only one they can trust”.
There can also be specific focuses on things like the law of attraction, spiritual hygiene, and paid-for purification rituals to clear your miasma or put you in tune with your higher self/guardian angel/guiding spirits/etc. These practices can be extremely exploitative; not just taking a customer’s money, but also creating a mentality of blame - if things are still going wrong, they feel as though they haven’t been purified enough or they’re not “clean enough” to reach their guardian angel/attunement/higher self/whatever. Additionally, the fear of things like spiritual or psychic attacks, psychic vampirism, or spiritual parasites cultivates this feeling of dependence upon a person who appears to be wise and powerful that can “save” or "protect" the victim.
The capitalism and the consumerism of the current witchcraft community is literally setting us up for a cult. The substantial increase in influencers working to monetize their craft by selling expensive services and classes is already a very good entry point for someone who wants to take things further and create a very dependent, very parasocial, very exploitative relationship with a group of loyal followers.

Phy vol.26 - キズ KIZU feature (Dec 2024)

Interviewer: First, there’s something I want to ask Lime.
Lime: Oh, me?
Interviewer: Before the shoot, you were filming the members just chatting. What was that about?
Lime: I upload videos to our blog magazine, so I was filming for that. But I also save them to a hard drive as a record. I think it’ll be fun to look back on them in a few years.
Interviewer: So, it’s like making memories? (laughs)
Lime: Yeah, memory-making (laughs).
Reiki: He’s been filming us like this for about a year now.
Lime: Ever since I got this camera.
Yue: We each have our own blogs, so when we run out of things to post, we just upload videos. Fans definitely love it.
Interviewer: And you looked so happy filming them just messing around. It was like a dad recording his kids growing up (laughs).
Lime: Hahahahaha.
Kyonosuke: Yeah, that’s seriously what it’s like. (laughs)
Yue: I’ve been meaning to ask—Lime, you’re always filming, but you never really appear in the videos yourself. Is there a reason for that?
Lime: I guess I just want fans to see the world through my eyes. So, I don’t really feel the need to be in the shot myself.
Interviewer: That way of thinking is very dad-like too.
Lime: Hahahahahaha!
Interviewer: You’ll understand once you have kids, but you were filming the members with that kind of perspective.
Kyonosuke: He always looks so happy while filming. Even though he only posts on the blog two or three times a month, he records way more than that.
Lime: Most of it never even gets used.
Interviewer: So, the blog is just an excuse? (laughs)
Kyonosuke: It’s just a cover-up for his embarrassment (laughs).
Lime: Yeah… that might be true.
Interviewer: It looks like you’re really enjoying it.
Lime: It is fun. Sometimes, I even send old pictures to our group chat just to see how everyone reacts.
Kyonosuke: And we all just crack up laughing.
Lime: Like, ‘Damn, we were so young!’
Interviewer: Do you know any other bands like this?
Lime: Yeah, I mean, we’re aware that our backstage atmosphere is different from other bands.
Interviewer: And now, this band with such a unique bond is set to play at Budokan in the new year. Do you think this closeness is one of Kizu's strengths?
Lime: Yeah, I think so. We want to compete with other bands, so it’s better if we’re completely united. The enemies are outside, not in here. The people we know are our allies, but everyone we don’t know is the enemy. That’s how we’ve always seen it. But looking back, turns out we didn’t really have that many enemies after all.
Reiki: It’s actually been pretty peaceful.
Interviewer: Has this dynamic between you always been the same since Kizu started?
Lime: Yeah, it hasn’t really changed. The atmosphere is pretty much the same too. Of course, there were tough times when our skills hadn’t caught up yet.
Kyonosuke: That’s about me, isn’t it? For a while, I felt like I was always lagging behind everyone.
Interviewer: As a musician?
Kyonosuke: Yeah. The other three had band experience, but Kizu was my first band. There was no way I could match their level at first. I was just desperately trying to keep up… I don’t even remember the first five years. (laughs)
Interviewer: That must have been tough.
Kyonosuke: Now I feel like we’re on equal ground, so I can talk to them normally. But back then, I always had this sense of inferiority.
Interviewer: Lime, did you know that Kyonosuke was struggling with these feelings?
Lime: I actually didn’t realize it at the time. I had no idea he was struggling like that.
Kyonosuke: Yeah, I never talked about it back then.
Lime: We were all just messing around, having fun together, but actually…
Interviewer: I see. Is there anyone else who has a ‘Actually, back then…’ kind of story, like Kyonosuke? (laughs)
Lime: Stop! You’re going to make things worse for us! (laughs)
Yue: It’s turning into a tell-all session. (laughs)
Interviewer: In any relationship, things can start off great but get complicated over time. How is it for you guys?
Lime: Well, for us, it’s different because we each respect what the others bring to the live performances. No matter what happens, we can accept each other. With every show we play together, that mutual respect deepens.
Interviewer: The longer you spend together, doesn’t it get easier to notice each other’s flaws or start nitpicking?
Lime: Ah, I think that might’ve been the case in the past. Before COVID, there were times when I noticed little things that bothered me about the others. But now, there’s none of that at all.
Interviewer: What kind of things bothered you?
Lime: Mostly performance-related things. There were times when I would put the blame on others a little. I’d watch back the live footage and think, ‘Wouldn’t this part have been better if it was done differently?’ But now, overall, even if Reiki does something different from what I expected, I just think, ‘Well, that’s Reiki’s style.’ Overcoming COVID together made a huge difference.
Interviewer: So, with what you just said and Kyonosuke’s story earlier, even though you say your relationships haven’t changed, they actually have, just gradually over time, right?
Reiki: Yeah, I think we’ve changed. Over the years, I’ve grown to respect the members more and more. In the past, I felt more like I was carrying the band alone.
Interviewer: What do you mean by that?
Reiki: Back then, I saw the members as people I needed in order to express myself—as if they were there for me.
Interviewer: Like the world revolved around you?
Reiki: That's right. That’s how I used to think. But now, it’s different. I realized that my bandmates can do all the things I can’t, and once I understood that, my respect for them grew a lot.
Interviewer: Did realizing that change anything for you?
Reiki: We were always close, but now it feels like our bond has deepened. Like, even if I get annoyed, I make sure to choose my words carefully. I wasn't like that before.
Interviewer: What about you, Yue? Even though you say things haven’t changed, is there anything that has?
Yue: I think there have been a lot of small ups and downs, but over time, everything has sort of evened out. For example, in the past, there were moments where the drummer and vocalist would be talking about a new song while I was there, and I’d think, ‘Wait, no one told me about this?’ That made me wonder, ‘Why didn’t they tell me?’ But after spending so much time together, you start to understand how your bandmates think, what they like, and what they want to do. So now, even if I find out about something later, it doesn’t bother me. I can still interpret it and adapt accordingly.
Interviewer: Normally, little things like that add up over time and turn into resentment or nitpicking.
Yue: But because we respect each other, even those small annoyances just smooth out over time.
Interviewer: Or maybe it’s just that Yue has become more mature.
Yue: Saying ‘yes’ to that would be kind of embarrassing, so I won’t. (laughs)
Interviewer: Lime, what do you think after hearing that?
Lime: Honestly, that was kind of intentional on my part. When I’m writing songs, sometimes the whole vibe of a track completely changes—tempo, phrasing, everything. I don’t think it’s fair to drag the other members into that uncertainty. But even in that stage, the one person I do need to talk to is the drummer.
Interviewer: So that’s why it ends up being just the two of you discussing it.
Lime: Yeah. I don’t like letting the others hear a song until it’s completely finished. Otherwise, I’d be making them deal with constant changes.
Interviewer: That’s really thoughtful of you toward your bandmates.
Yue: Yeah, that makes sense (laughs).
Lime: (Chuckles)
Interviewer: What do you think is the reason you all respect and care about each other so much?
Reiki: For me, it’s the music. The songs are what I love the most. Out of all the visual kei bands out there, I like Lime’s songwriting the best. So even if there are things that annoy me sometimes, as long as the music is good, it doesn’t matter.
Interviewer: What about you two?
Kyonosuke: When the four of us decided to start this band, I think we were all seriously aiming for Tokyo Dome. And we’re still on that path. So respecting each other is just natural. More than anything, I made up my mind that I’m doing this band with these four people. And honestly, if you don’t have that mindset, can you even be in a band?
Lime: Says the person who has not been in any bands other than Kizu (laughs).
Kyonosuke: Oh yeah, true (laughs).
Yue: Like Reiki said earlier, there are things in this band that only I can do. The roles in a band are clearly defined from the start just by having different instruments, right? So for me, as the bassist, I always think, I’m going to be the best at this. I’ll play even the most difficult phrases flawlessly. I approach it with that mindset, and since I can feel that same dedication from everyone else, I think that’s why we can respect each other.
Interviewer: What about you, Lime?
Lime: I sometimes have negative thoughts, like, ‘What if one of the members wants to quit?’ And when I think about whether there’s anyone else I’d want to be in this band with, the answer is no. That means if even one of us leaves, Kizu is over.
Interviewer: That's how it goes.
Lime: And to be honest, I don’t even like writing songs. Composing is the thing I struggle with the most. But I still do it because I don’t want to let the band down. If I write songs that truly reach them, they’ll respect me for it. And if a song resonates with them, it’ll reach the fans too. That’s why I think the members are actually Kizu’s biggest fans. I want to keep growing so I can write songs that they love.
Interviewer: That connects to what Reiki said earlier.
Lime: And no matter how difficult the phrases I come up with are, they just play them without complaint. So I have nothing but respect for them, it’s that dynamic that’s brought us all the way to Budokan.
Interviewer: What you’re saying sounds really cool, but when I see the four of you messing around together, it kind of feels like a school festival vibe. (laughs)
All: Ahahaha!
Lime: But honestly, it might not be that different. Back then, I was also trying to put on a good show, improve my skills… And simply have fun being together.
Interviewer: If you had to describe that fun in another word, what would it be?
Lime: What would it be…?
Interviewer: Maybe ‘youth.’
Lime: Ah, youth. Yeah, we’re definitely living it right now.
Yue: That’s a great word.
Interviewer: This is just my own interpretation, but I feel like the core of this band is that Lime can’t do anything on his own. I mean, outside of the band, he’s incredibly capable—he can handle anything by himself. But when it comes to music...
Lime: Yeah... that’s actually true...
Interviewer: You need other people. If you were completely self-sufficient in everything, I don’t think this kind of relationship would work.
Lime: That might be true. I mean, I can play all the instruments, but the members are better than me. And honestly, I probably wouldn’t even be able to play the stuff I write.
Interviewer: I’m sure that on your own, you wouldn’t have even been able to stand on stage. But the fact that a band led by someone like that is now about to perform at Budokan—it’s because of the four of you. That’s why I felt like this was the perfect time to talk with you.
Reiki: So that’s why you gathered us here.
Interviewer: Exactly. We’re about to wrap up the interview, but before we do, there’s one last thing I want to say.
Lime: What is it?
Interviewer: I want you to write a song that reflects this bond between you, a song that allows fans to feel like they’re part of it too.
Lime: A song, huh? (laughs)
Interviewer: I want to hear a song that makes people think, I want to be part of this circle too.
Lime: Ah… I feel like you just gave me a hint for a song. (laughs)
Reiki: Yeah, I like the phrase ‘I want to be part of the circle.’
Lime: But we’re not the kind of band that sings about wanting to belong...
Interviewer: But the fact that your band has grown this much proves that people do want to be part of it.
Lime: That’s true. People do want to be part of it.
Interviewer: So, not just for the four of you, but for everyone coming to Budokan, write a song that says, ‘You’re part of this too.’ (laughs)
Lime: That’s impossible! (laughs) But... the theme is good.
Interviewer: If you played a Kizu song for someone who knows nothing about the band, they’d never guess how close you guys actually are. So, make it happen.
Lime: I’ll do my best. This conversation just made me realize again how weird Kizu really is. I’ve been in a lot of bands, but I’ve never seen anything like this.
Reiki: This… was kind of an intense interview, huh?
Lime: Hahahaha! That really got to you, didn’t it?

Why Reiki Could Be Your Next Step in Personal Growth
Ever wondered why some people seem to radiate wellbeing? They have this glow about them, this sense of being grounded and at peace, even when life gets hectic.
More often than not, these people have discovered something that most of us miss: the power of working with energy.
Now, you might think this sounds a bit strange. Energy work? Really? But stay with me, because understanding how energy affects us might just change your life.
What Makes Reiki Different?
Reiki isn't like other healing methods. There's no physical manipulation of the body, no complex techniques to master. It works simply by channeling energy through light touch or hands hovering above the body.
But don't let this simplicity fool you.
Think of it like breathing. Breathing is simple, yet it's essential for life. Reiki is similar - it's straightforward but remarkably effective.
How Reiki Actually Works
When you receive Reiki, something interesting happens. The practitioner becomes like a conduit for universal life force energy. This energy then flows to where your body needs it most.
Your body is incredibly intelligent. It knows exactly what it needs - we just need to give it the right resources.
That's what makes Reiki special. You don't need to diagnose problems or figure out what needs fixing. The energy goes where it's needed, doing what needs to be done.
Beyond the Basics
Here's something most people don't realize about Reiki: it's not just about healing specific issues. It's about creating balance in your entire system.
When your energy system is balanced:
You're naturally more resilient to stress
Your body can heal more efficiently
You think more clearly
You sleep better
You have more energy throughout the day
The Learning Path
Learning Reiki happens in three stages:
Reiki Level 1 is where it all begins. You learn to connect with Reiki energy and use it for self-healing and helping others. This level alone can transform your life.
Reiki Level 2 takes things deeper. You learn sacred symbols that enhance your connection to Reiki energy. You also learn distance healing - yes, you can send healing energy to someone on the other side of the world!
Reiki Master Level is where you master advanced techniques and, if you choose, learn to teach others.
The Less Known Benefits
Here's something interesting that most people don't know about Reiki: it can actually help improve your intuition. When you work with energy regularly, you become more attuned to subtle information around you.
You might find yourself:
Knowing who's about to call before the phone rings
Sensing when someone needs help before they ask
Making better decisions because you're more in tune with your gut feelings
A Natural Part of Life
One of the beautiful things about Reiki is how naturally it fits into daily life. You don't need special equipment. You don't need to set aside hours each day.
Got a headache? Give yourself some Reiki while watching TV. Can't sleep? Use Reiki as you lie in bed. Stressed at work? Take a few minutes to run energy while sitting at your desk.
Moving Forward
If you're interested in learning more about Reiki, there are several ways to start:
Book a session with a qualified practitioner
Read about others' experiences with Reiki
Consider taking a Level 1 course
The key is finding a teacher who maintains the integrity of traditional Japanese Reiki while making it accessible and practical for modern life.
Remember: Reiki isn't about becoming someone different - it's about becoming more fully yourself. It's about tapping into abilities you already have but might not know how to access.

Reiki Master Level – Unlock Ultimate Healing Power
In today’s fast-paced world, more people are turning toward alternative therapies to find balance, peace, and deeper well-being. Among the most respected and widely practiced holistic healing methods is Reiki—a gentle, energy-based approach that encourages self-healing and emotional clarity.
For those who have already explored the foundations of Reiki, the Reiki Master Level is considered a profound step forward. It’s not just an advanced skill—it's a transformative experience that deepens one’s connection to universal life force energy and expands their ability to heal self and others.

What Is the Reiki Master Level?
The Reiki Master Level is the third and final level in the traditional Usui Reiki system. At this stage, practitioners learn the Master symbol, advanced healing techniques, and often, how to teach Reiki to others. More than a skill upgrade, it’s a spiritual advancement that empowers practitioners to become conduits for higher energy frequencies.
This level is not only about mastering techniques but also about embodying a deeper sense of compassion, presence, and inner stillness. It is often seen as the bridge between personal healing and collective service.
Why Is the Reiki Master Level Important?
Many practitioners describe this level as life-changing. Here’s why:
It amplifies your ability to work with energy intuitively.
It enables distant healing across time and space.
It often brings about emotional breakthroughs and deeper clarity.
It allows practitioners to guide others on their Reiki journey.
While the initial levels of Reiki are foundational, the Reiki Master Level often marks the start of a life-long spiritual path.
Learning Reiki Online: The New Norm
With the rise of digital education, enrolling in a reiki online course has never been easier. Certified teachers now offer interactive, flexible training programs that make this ancient practice accessible to people all over the world. From live Zoom sessions to on-demand video modules, the quality of online learning has significantly evolved.
For those who can’t attend in-person workshops due to location, time, or budget, a reiki online course provides a structured yet flexible way to advance.

What to Expect in an Online Reiki Master Course
A typical reiki online course at the Master level might include:
Attunements to the Master symbol
Deep-dive lessons on healing others and oneself
Techniques for energy clearing and chakra balancing
Guidance on teaching and initiating others into Reiki
Continued mentorship or support groups
When choosing a course, it's essential to verify the credibility of the instructor and check for lineage, course content, and support options.
The Rise of Holistic Healing Courses
Healing courses like Reiki, sound therapy, and energy medicine are gaining popularity for their non-invasive, heart-centered approaches. Reiki, in particular, stands out because it requires no tools—only intention, focus, and presence.
A study in the Journal of Evidence-Based Complementary & Alternative Medicine found that Reiki may significantly reduce stress and anxiety, especially when practiced consistently. These findings have prompted more people to pursue healing courses not just for professional purposes but also for personal growth.

I want to preface this post by saying: this isn't what Science Yarn will be all about. This is an explanation of why I try to explain science in a fun, simple, understandable way, and you don't need to care to follow along. Just be prepared for the occasional commentary on academia.
The content of Science Yarn will be me trying to explain science and philosophy so that actual humans can understand it without decades of studying. The other posts will probably also not be this long at all.
I also want to say that this is not necessarily my full or perfect view of science and philosophy. I mainly want to show that I will occasionally try to look critically at the current systems of science that we populate.
The Spire of Academia
I'm not the first person to ever talk about it. Some people call it the 'spire of academia', some call it an 'ivory tower', some people relate it to elitarian or to academia, or say it's an inherent property of science. I'm talking about the threshold that makes it so difficult to join science.
The Problem
The problem that a lot of people have with science is that it's so hard to be a part of it yourself. I myself am a relatively new university student. Where I live, that means I've had 14 years of education behind me, and depending on my future decisions multiple still in front of me. I'm hardly even specialised yet.
Those are 14 years of day in, day out learning. Most other kids either didn't want that, or didn't appreciate the theoretical approach. Only the kids with the best grades were funnelled to go on to university, and even then, not all of them choose to. And if I could change my decision, I probably would.
Why? Not because I'm not smart, I mean, I made it, right? Not because the curriculum was too hard, because again, I made it. Not because I don't like the prestige of being able to say that I'm studying at a university. It does feel a bit cool to say. But because I'm not sure some of the things I'm doing are really in the spirit of science.
Pseudoscience
And to understand that, we have to look at one of the biggest competitors with science: pseudoscience. This is a name that scientists and philosophers believe will highlight the nonsense factor, and there are many more ways that we try to stop belief in pseudosciences. But somehow, it doesn't seem to be working.
So let's first talk about why pseudosciences are pseudosciences. There are different reasons that something may be demarcated. There might not be proof that the theory given is correct at all. It might be impossible to prove that the theory is correct because there is no way to check it; you can't verify that the theory is actually what is causing the effects. You may even be able to show inaccuracies, biases, or contradictions within the theories themselves. And science is always first to point those things out.
But why do people still so massively flock to these theories? Why are crystal healing, reiki, and chiropractors doing so well, even when science refutes them, or at least says we can't be sure that they work? Well, there are various reasons for that.
Firstly, it has to do with how difficult it is to actually understand science. Of course, partially, that's to do with how abstract, or sometimes tiny or huge things are. You can't just go and experience an acid trading a hydrogen atom with a base the same way you can experience a Newton's cradle. In chemistry, we call that micro/meso/macro levels. Macro is what you can actually experience.
Similarly, in physics, you have to imagine all these arrows that describe forces and velocity. You have to imagine those being invisible things that influence the whole world. This ground we live on is a massive ball of liquid stone and metal. All the small balls in the sky are actually bigger than the Earth. Those aren't things you can "just" wrap your head around.
But that's not everything. Because these sizes are called 'macro' and 'micro', and not something like 'seeable size' and 'molecule size'. The arrows aren't called 'unit arrows' but instead 'vectors'. And there's reasons for that... sometimes. 'Micro' is shorter than 'molecule size', but more esoteric; you have to know what it is to know what it is. 'Molecule size' is a very clearly understandable term, even if you don't know yet what it means. Similarly, science has a lot of Latin terms, wherever possible. And I won't deny that Latin is a fascinating and very cool language, but research shows that there are significantly fewer ancient Romans these days than about 1800 years ago. And, fun fact - but this is just my own agenda - there has been one more Polish eye doctor who's invented a language to be as easy to learn as possible, and also modular. I'm subconsciously telling your brain to learn Esperanto for science. Especially effective since Latin went through centuries of different phases, while Esperanto is synthetic and doesn't have such weaknesses. >:)
So between all the things that are so small that trust me bro, things that aren't physical but that influence the world, and stuff that's written in a language most people don't even know, it's not surprising that some folks decide to believe in essential oils. Because oils are physical things, and they're understandable English words too. The part of believing they exist at all is easily done, so you only need to give the impression that they work. Plus, they smell nice!
How to Save Science
Okay, so I don't really have the answers for how to save science, that just sounds good as a title, but I have some ideas, some of them quite easy to implement.
Firstly, look back at the whole academia thing. I think much of academia is an attempt to find a middle ground between one scientific formal (super precise) but esoteric (closed off from the outside world) language, and one language that actual human beings speak when being people. And maybe that mix isn't that effective. Even for most scientists it is hard to keep their attention. Instead, what if I could just write down some scientific formulas and give some extra context in human language where needed?
And that brings us to my second point: sometimes, you need to stop trying to make one language that encapsules everything. Or at least don't try to use it until it's double-triple-checked. Science is a tool to help the world and the people on it. As it currently goes, most people can't understand what we mean because of our weird terms that most people have never heard before, that require a whole dictionary just to keep up with. Instead, how about we translate some scientific works to human language? Have both versions available: English and Academia.
And finally, I too hate academia. I'm great with formal languages (like formulas, not fancy rich folk etiquette speech) and I'm a person who speaks human speech, but academia is such a massive barrier for me, despite everything I could help science with otherwise. I can perfectly communicate my ideas in language that I use, but currently, I'm being judged on how well I can write texts according to specific parameters that I don't believe are good for science. Maybe we need to separate formal and human language and acknowledge that barrier. And then when we need to communicate between the two, we call in someone who actually likes it. But until then, I'm not sure I'm thrilled about what we call science, and I might just use science to mean my own goals. And I will keep being a little chaos gremlin. Keep following this err- Tumb? Tlog? Whatever they're called for more.

Cure Vol.216 - キズ(KIZU) feature (July 2021)
Interview by—Atsuhiko Kamiya
Interviewer: Nanajo is a long-awaited tour. It's been over a year since Jigoku tour had to be cancelled in 2020.
Lime: When Jigoku tour got cancelled, it left this vague, heavy feeling, you know? So I really wanted to go on the new tour with a fresh feeling, which is why we gave it a new title. But to be honest, I'm in really bad shape right now.
Interviewer: What's the reason?
Lime: I've been away from the stage for too long, and I just can’t seem to create any new songs. Maybe it's because we've had fewer live shows and I’ve been spending more time just being a “normal person.”
Interviewer: You’ve never been away from live performances for this long, right?
Lime: Yeah, sometimes I even start wondering, 'What kind of person am I, really?' There’s something I want to regain with this tour. There are things that can’t be recovered in a studio—only live shows can do that.
Interviewer: You can even forget how to enjoy live shows.
Lime: Right? I’m sure it’s the same for everyone. Like, you headbang for the first time in forever and end up hurting yourself. If you think of my current situation as the mental version of that, it might be easier to understand.
Reiki: Yeah, I feel like I’ve turned back into a normal person, too.
Lime: No, he didn’t. He’s not a normal person at all (laughs).
Reiki: No no no (laughs). I used to be in a constant, intense state. We had tours, and I was always living side by side with creating music. But when COVID hit, that momentum just stopped. I ended up turning back into a normal person. But I’m gonna get it back. I’m going to become a bandman again.
Yue: I've also had some changes. At the beginning of May, I was feeling so sleepy. I was lethargic. But I’ve come out of that now. Going from a slump into a good rhythm.
Interviewer: Did it feel like being away from the stage for so long dulled your senses, Yue?
Yue: Yeah, with this much time away, it’s bound to happen. We had Honmou and Kataki, right? I replay those one-man shows in my mind. Of course, it’s not the same as a real live performance, but it’s how I keep myself from forgetting the feeling of being on stage.
Interviewer: What kind of feeling is it?
Yue: It’s the feeling of playing bass in front of people, I guess. When I suddenly have to perform on stage again, it feels kind of embarrassing.
Reiki: I know, right? It does feel embarrassing.
Yue: Right? It’s like, when you see someone face-to-face again after a long time, it feels a little awkward.
Interviewer: I’m surprised to hear that. What about you, Kyonosuke, do you also think about your condition and readiness?
Kyonosuke: Back when the future was completely uncertain, I was mentally and physically falling apart. But now that we have live shows scheduled, I’m feeling super positive. Lately, though, my body hasn’t been keeping up with the feeling of performing live, I was like, 'Oh no, this is bad,' so I started going to the gym.
Interviewer: So you’re training.
Kyonosuke: Yeah, I was shocked at how out of shape I was. Even during Kataki, the level of nervousness was insane. I’ve always had stage nerves, but this time it was extreme. I got so exhausted that my hands hurt. So now I’m making an effort to face the live shows properly.
Interviewer: It sounds almost like training for a sport.
Kyonosuke: Honestly, I think it is. My body isn’t particularly strong, and I’ve heard that playing drums can easily mess up your health. I’d hate to get to a point where I can’t play drums anymore, so I’ve started being more mindful of my physical condition.
Interviewer: While each of you has your own approach to live shows, the Nanajo tour starts on August 28.
Lime: We’re playing 7 locations, so it’s Nanajo (Seven Locks). That’s all.
Interviewer: That's not all!
Lime: You caught on! (laughs) Being away from the stage for so long, the title didn’t really resonate with me at first. When I started thinking, 'What is it that I want to say?' my thoughts would change from day to day, and it was scary. I even started thinking, 'Maybe there’s nothing I want to say anymore.'
Interviewer: You’ve said before, "If I have nothing left to say, I’ll quit the band."
Lime: That's right. But honestly, it was more like, 'It's there, I just can’t grasp it.'
Interviewer: It sounds like you were in a really tough place mentally. Do you talk about these sort of things with the band?
Lime: No way I’d talk about that. That’s my personal mental issue.
Reiki: Lime doesn’t say anything even when he’s not doing well, so it’s more about sensing it. I just say 'Let’s keep doing what we can.' I’m always ready to support him, so I want him to do what he needs to do at his own pace. We never pressure him.
Kyonosuke: It’s more like, 'If he wants to say something, he will. And if he wants to figure it out on his own, we give him space.' We’re here to support him in whatever ways we can and follow him.
Reiki: Once Lime does see something clearly—like, 'This is it,' he’s already off and running.
Lime: There’s something I should probably say. We were actually planning to release a single before the tour started. But I couldn’t write anything. Now I’m thinking I might write during the tour instead.
Yue: I think that’s the right choice. The agency’s been patient with us too.
Reiki: In the past, they probably would’ve said, “Hurry up and get it done.” Oh yeah, we’ve got that BBQ coming up, huh?
Lime: Yeah, I haven’t been able to write anything for so long that even the staff started being extra considerate. They were like, “Are you getting enough sunlight?” (laughs)
Interviewer: Up until now, even if it was last minute, you always managed to put something out.
Lime: Yeah, because live shows saved me. So many songs and ideas were born out of live performances. Once the tour starts, I think I’ll be able to write smoothly. I just have to believe in myself. Still, not being able to write anything was frustrating. Originally, the plan was to release a great song and then go on tour with it. But I’m feeling positive. If I were still stuck in negative emotions, I wouldn’t even be doing lives right now. I’m trying to not overanalyze everything like I used to, keeping it simple.
Interviewer: So you’re trying to let go a bit?
Lime: Yeah, exactly. Whatever it is, if I’m not enjoying it, I’m not going to do it. So with Nanajo, I’m just going to enjoy it.
Interviewer: Was there a specific trigger that made you start valuing "enjoyment" more?
Reiki: I think it was Ichigeki.
Lime: I know that, but I’ve been choosing to not say it (laughs).
Reiki: I see. Well then, let’s not say it (laughs).
Lime: Lately, including Ichigeki, there’s just been too much stimulation. To be honest, there’s a part of me that’s thinking, 'I can’t stay like this,' and I’m seriously trying to change. But I don’t really want to talk about it. I don’t think the fans want to hear that stuff either. No one really gains anything from me saying it.
Interviewer: Let’s keep it between us, then.
Lime: Can this be done in a magazine? (laughs) It’s like... I’m the one who’s least satisfied with myself right now. I’m thinking hard about what I need to do to get to where I want to be. I just really don’t want to keep fighting in such a small world. I’m ready to break out of it.
Interviewer: What kind of world are you trying to break out of?
Lime: I’ll leave that to your imagination. If I spelled it out, it wouldn’t be any fun, would it?
Interviewer: Then instead of where you’re breaking from, what about where you want to go to?
Lime: It’s not so much about wanting to get out, it’s more like I need to get out. I think fans already felt that when we released Ichigeki. Having senpai sing songs that I wrote—my old self would have never done something like that. I want to take action, break out, and go somewhere new.
Interviewer: So fans have noticed the changes in you, Lime?
Lime: To be blunt about it, if you can make music, it doesn't matter where you go. But if I’m going to do it, I want more people to listen to it. That’s probably why I want to break out. To put it bluntly, visual kei shouldn’t be a genre limited to only people who already like visual kei.
Reiki: You said it. Of course, we’d never disrespect what we’ve done so far, or betray our fans. We’ve seen that kind of thing happen before, we won’t repeat those mistakes. We want to create something like “Reiwa-kei” [modern / Reiwa era style].
Lime: When we say things like this, people sometimes say "Kizu are weird," but we are normal. We’re not trying to be edgy. I’ll be able to give you more specifics in a little while. Right now is too early to say anything. Actually… I’m not even sure how we got to this topic (laughs).
Reiki: It started with Nanajo! (laughs) Right now, the band has a lot of momentum. It’s like, 'Check us out.' We’re just responding to the feelings of the fans who come to see us.
Yue: From me, it’s just something like, 'Take care getting here.'
Interviewer: We can’t end it like that!
Yue: No good? (laughs) But I think the fans understand even without me saying it. If I try to express my enthusiasm for the tour, it just ends up sounding cliché. But, I can say something like, ‘Make sure you get here safely.’ I mean, if I started saying stuff like, 'It’s been a while since we’ve seen each other, so I’ll show you how cool I am,' that would be a bit much, wouldn't it? (laughs)
Interviewer: I think that’s great though! (laughs)
Yue: Nah, that kind of thing is the role of people who aren’t us.
Interviewer: Then what is Kizu’s role?
Yue: To deliver cool music. To put on cool performances. That’s it.
Interviewer: And what does that look like?
Yue: It touches your heart. It stays in your memory. It gets passed on to future generations. Those three things. Does Kizu achieve that?
Interviewer: Absolutely.
Yue: I'm glad (laughs). Okay, next Kyonosuke.
Kyonosuke: I want to embody through our live shows that what I’ve always loved and believed in isn’t wrong. That’s what leads to what I think is a “cool live show.”
Interviewer: It feels like you’re charging forward.
Kyonosuke: I’m excited. It’s like, 'We can finally do shows! Hell yeah!'
Lime: We’ve got seven locations, but every one of them is the final. Nanajo is going to be a tour you can only experience as Nanajo.

How I Went from Searching to Teaching: A Personal Reiki Story
I didn’t start out in life wanting to become a Reiki Master. I left my PhD at Melbourne University in pursuit of something more meaningful, and what followed were years of travel and meditation retreats.
My first experience with Reiki created a noticeable shift. It wasn’t flashy or dramatic, but it brought a sense of calm and clarity that deeply resonated. That experience began a journey that eventually led to the founding of the Om Reiki Centre in Melbourne.
What Makes Us Different
Our Reiki courses are grounded in traditional Japanese Reiki—staying close to the original teachings of Mikao Usui. We teach more than hand positions. We focus on energy sensing, intuitive development, and spiritual grounding.
Our Reiki Level 1 course is designed for beginners. You'll learn the foundations, how to treat yourself and others, and how to connect with energy.
Reiki Level 2 introduces distance healing and advanced symbols.
The Reiki Master Level is for those ready to commit to a deeper journey. We include both Japanese and Western Reiki lineages.
Each course includes a 21-day post-course program, full video portal access for revision, and ongoing email and phone support.
Healing That Transforms
Beyond courses, we offer Reiki healing sessions tailored to each person’s needs—physical, emotional, or spiritual. For those who can’t attend in person, we offer distance healing sessions.
If you've been searching for "reiki healing near me," we invite you to experience a grounded, authentic approach.
A Community of Kindred Spirits
One of the most rewarding aspects of our work is the Reiki Practice Group. With over 1,700 members, it's one of the largest in Australia. It provides an opportunity for continued practice, learning, and community connection.
Final Thoughts
People often ask why I teach Reiki. The answer is simple: it works. It creates change. And it helps people return to a place of balance and inner knowing.
