Jason: Alright, listen up. My name is Mr. Todd, and I'll be your new English teacher for the remainder of the year. I have simple expectations from you all: I assign you books, you read them, and then you write reports on them. If you stay on top of your classwork, I will make sure you succeed in my class. Any questions? Paulina: How old are you, Mr. Todd? Jason: Twenty-four. Star: You have an interesting accent. Where are you from? Jason: Gotham. Dash: What's your favorite sport? Jason: Boxing. Sam: Do you answer all questions in one word? Jason: Yes. Tucker: What happened to Mr. Lancer? Jason: Surgery. Jason: That's enough about me. Let's go over the syllabus for this class. Take one and pass the rest. I have all your assignments prepared, so if a few of you want to work ahead, that's fine. Most professors like that you do so in college, and I won't baby you. If you need extensions, let me know by email three days before. I hope you all like the Libary. We will be visiting it once a week. After Class: Danny: I have never paid so much attention in class and retrained nothing. Sam: How could you when the teacher looks like that. He walked in with a leather jacket and a white hairstreak. He's hot. Paulina: I can't believe I'm agreeing with the biggest dorks in school, but damn, Mr.Todd is gorgeous. I'm going to actually work in this class. Is that weird? Dash: Not weird at all. I'm thinking of cutting football practice to catch up on some reading. I don't want Mr.Todd to think I'm an idiot. He could show me some boxing moves. Wes: Are we all just going to ignore that the new English teacher is Red Hood? The CRIME LORD? Tucker: Not now, Wes, we're admiring the perfect man. Wes: You don't even like men! Tucker: Game recognizes game.
#dcxdpdabbles#from a fic i never wrote#Jason Todd becomes a teacher at Casper High#He is Red Hood#“Undercover ” to find Phantom#But he actaully alwasys wanted to be a teacher#He's going to run it like a college course#He's a hit with the kids#Wes is pulling out his hair#No one belives Mr.Todd is Red Hood not even the Phantom trio#NO SHIPS though the kids do have crushes nothing will come of it#Jason just wants the kids to like Jane Austin

In November, Israel’s public broadcaster, Kan, uploaded on its official X page a video of Israeli children singing a song celebrating their country’s ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. The broadcaster deleted the video clip after a huge online backlash. Even after the video was silently erased from social media, however, the song remained a subject of discussion and controversy. Many across the world were shocked to see children sing happily about “eliminating” an entire people “within one year”. Yet a closer look at Israeli literature and curricula shows this open celebration of genocide was the only natural outcome of Israel’s persistent indoctrination – or brainwashing to be more blunt – of its children to ensure that they do not view Palestinians as human and fully embrace apartheid and occupation. There is myriad evidence of Israel’s brainwashing of its citizens to erase the humanity of Palestinians spanning many decades. Israeli scholar Adir Cohen, for example, analysed for his book titled “An Ugly Face in the Mirror – National Stereotypes in Hebrew Children’s Literature” some 1700 Hebrew-language children’s books published in Israel between 1967 and 1985, and found that a whopping 520 of them contained humiliating, negative descriptions of the Palestinians. He revealed that 66 percent of these 520 books refer to Arabs as violent; 52 percent as evil; 37 percent as liars; 31 percent as greedy; 28 percent as two-faced and 27 percent as traitors.
. . . continues at Al Jazeera (13 Des 2023)
#i remember being taught in school that the indoctrination of children was one of the reasons why the israel-palestine ''conflict''#was so ~ complicated ~#but of course according to our teachers and our school books this was a sin only the palestinians were guilty of - never the israelis#palestine#israel#gaza

Anaxa’s character stories all being in mediums that have already been destroyed has me climbing the WALLS. Cerces looking through his memories. A study record that no longer exists. An improvised speech that nobody would have written down. Another fragment of memory that nobody got to see. The complicated bits of his character and explanations for his goals and Why he is the way he is will fade away and he will be remembered largely as a performer and a blasphemer. How will they remember him when so little of him yet remains?
#hsr#hsr spoilers#kind of?#anaxa#anaxagoras#hsr anaxa#I am going to LOSE MY MIND over this#the people still remaining who knew him best are probably phainon and hyacine but even they did not know him closely in that way#Phainon remembering him fondly as a good teacher is going to make me cry#Castorice too of course but. gestures at 3.2#this sent me down a rabbit trail of thinking about themes of memory in amphoreus#and how much is being lost and especially Phainon’s role in it all#if he is indeed the last one alive to witness the miracle#how will he carry the weight of all that memory#Mydei Castorice Trianne Anaxa and it is only the beginning#he knew them all and yet didn’t know everything#AND IF ITS supposedly his memories to be the ones to reshape the world. If he does indeed inherit Kephale’s coreflame#like. Even if we don’t know the specifics of how the genesis will work#boy has got to be feeling the PRESSURE#I should stop rambling in the tags and just make a separate phainon post atp#well. For now. screaming over anaxa again

Actually so tired that people mainly focus on the bdsm when they talk about La Pianiste when we literally have this dynamic right here. Like, that's insane.

What if you were a little girl in her 40's who couldn't grow up because of your mother-wife who made you sleep in her bed and forced you to repress every sexual desires and thoughts of becoming your own person just to keep you close to her ? What if you fought back and yearned for dangerous things out of her reach ? But also, what if you let her because it's all you've ever known and been taught to want ?
#these two are so entangled with each other and in the roles they play#(mother and daughter. husband and wife. prodigal or ungrateful daughter. adoring or mocking mother)#that they cannot handle it when something else is thrown into the mix#There's no space left because they fill all the roles in each other's lives.#but at the same time they never give the other exactly what she wants#The fights never last. Erika will never live up to her mother's ambitions. And her mother will never give her any form of affection which#might satiate her hunger for love. And so on.#They are deeply imperfect- Love and Despise each other but they could never bear the thought of being separated#When I read the part in the book where Erika talks to Walter for the first time and all she wants is to go back into her mother's womb...#you can't make that shi up#when people talk about toxic yuri that's what they could mean but unfortunately we live in a society#gradually learning to accept the person I'm becoming who would've been burned at the stake by my younger self <3#been having so much thoughts about this film once again. And I know that nothing written here is new but I'm a little sad no one really#talks about this relationship online since it's really the heart of the story for me#Of course everything happening with Walter is important. But none of that would be there without the mother-daughter situation#la pianiste#the piano teacher#haneke#sheep stuffs#isabelle huppert#also I'd kinda get it if it was another film and it made people too uncomfortable to talk about it. but I mean this is literally La Pianist#*

one of the things that continues to strike me on reread is how much the character of Darcy, and Austen through him, finds Mr. Bennet dead. And how much Elizabeth, in growing and changing and discarding her past blindness, has to move past her way of seeing her father and thus of seeing reality, because the two are connected! Darcy’s letter exposes her father’s flaws to Elizabeth in a way she’d never been able to see before. Most especially the way his laziness and neglect of his own gifts have hurt his family and that ultimately he doesn’t. care. Not enough to change. It literally says that she comes home from Hunsford and tries to laugh at her sisters’ and mother’s folly (the way she used to; the way her father has taught her to by example for her whole life) and she can’t anymore! It sticks in her throat. She is grieved by the failures that she sees in him, all the more so because she IS his favorite and she loves him! And the thing about Mr. Bennet is he never changes. The Lydia/wickham situation exposes to him sharply his own conduct and the consequences and he feels it! Because he is neither stupid nor unfeeling. But he, like everyone, has free will. And he chooses not to change when the opportunity presents itself. He even jokes about how quickly his feeling bad will pass and how soon everything will go back to normal, to his laziness and his selfishness. He is set in his ways and he serves as a contrast to Elizabeth’s personal journey because he embodies a version of a person she could have become and was in danger of becoming if her only goal at all times was to laugh at and judge people from the sidelines.
#pride and prejudice#I’ve always loved his character because he IS funny and he is iconic!!! and his love for Lizzy is touching!#he’s not faking it.#but he is so flawed. a man of taste a man of ability a man of judgment.#a man who could and SHOULD have set a different tone for his children and chose not to!#and they SUFFER FOR IT#their house is a divided one. and every child feels the pain of living in a house where the parents neither respect each other#nor are on the same team#there is a crack running through their house for this reason and it’s how Lydia (and Kitty) came to be so neglected!#who is going to discipline them or guide them? certainly not Mr. Bennet!#he’s so important to teach too. because the boys LOVE HIM. of course!#and are always very struck by his failures and laziness once I point it out#and yeah Darcy one of the only people who can expose him. because Darcy is putting in the work a man should be doing#Darcy’s house IS in order. his love is active and protective. he is fulfilling his role!#Mr. Bennet’s gifts are so extraordinary—the wit. the insight into human nature. honestly the capacity for wisdom#but he likes his library. he likes enjoying himself more than he likes doing his duty#as either a father or a husband#he does fail Mrs. Bennet! I have compassion for her there#anyway I love to think about this: something no version I have ever seen has ever fully explored#but man is it on the page#yeah yeah sorry for all the words. teacher off duty etc.

I had a very odd dream where a train (or bus?) I was on got yanked into another world. While my dream had nothing to do with SVSSS, it did have my waking self thinking about how hilarious and/or horrifying such a thing could be as an AU.
Imagine Shen Yuan riding the subway, train or bus one day, when something happens and his whole car gets yanked into the world of PIDW. Nobody else in the car knows anything about PIDW, so Shen Yuan finds himself with the self imposed task of keeping this eccentric group of strangers alive in a weird world full of demons, monsters, and aphrodisiac plants.
The group’s first assumption would probably be that they’re still on modern earth, and just got teleported somewhere. Their second assumption, if they come across common folk, might be they somehow ended up in the past.
Then they run into some monster, or people riding on swords with specific uniforms, or a commoner mentions a name or event only Shen Yuan recognizes. The rest of the party debates what sort of Xianxia or Wuxia world they’ve ended up in, while poor Shen Yuan sweats bullets. He knows exactly what world they are in, and they are so screwed.
I have this image of poor beleaguered nerd Shen Yuan successfully protecting and leading this group of primary school kids, their cute teacher, and a handful of grannies and grandpas, while all the other adults and older teens keep wandering off and getting themselves in trouble.
#Shen Yuan#SY#Scum Villian’s Self Saving System#SVSSS#SVSSS Idea#Story Idea#* Shen Yuan assumes the cute primary school teacher will end up part of the harem#* He is completely oblivious to the fact she’s crushing on him- as are the group’s young male dumbasses eventually#* Yes I do think women can crush on Shen Yuan too- and he wouldn’t notice that either#* All the kids adopt him as their gege- and the grannies and grandpas as their grandson- a whole platonic harem#* Luo Binghe crosses their path eventually and promptly starts crushing on Shen Yuan too- NOT the cute female teacher#* Not sure what part of the plot they interrupt as any option could be funny#* Binghe escaping the Abyss to get adopted by a clan of modern weirdos#* Late stage Bingge abandoning his harem to play host to Shen Yuan and company#* Disciple Binghe somehow getting collected while on a night hunt- and Shen Yuan stealing a proper manual for him#* Every option is a delight!#* Oh yeah- Shen Yuan knows all the top secret artifacts- monster parts- etc. so he probably grows himself some meridians#* He’s starting cultivation so late there’s no way he’ll reach beyond maybe foundation establishment- but that’s fine#* Unless he dual cultivates with a heavenly demon of course- but like that’ll happen 😉

"Because I couldn't draw any new announcement art, here's something that's been sitting in my folders for a while. Takahashi Akira in the vol 12 Makuragaeshi arc (the present day if the Meiji Romance arc didn't happen). In the Makuragaeshi arc's world, all 4 of the major characters in the Meiji arc (Takahashi, Yamazaki, Ibara and Kai) have fallen to darkness in their own ways, it's quite a bad-end timeline.
Akira probably became a super bad person that I'd be embarrassed to talk about on social media.
He's a man with only 2 paths: become an extremely bad person, or save a lot of people."
#youkai gakkou no sensei hajimemashita#a terrified teacher at ghoul school#translations#twitter pics#WAHHHHHHHHHHH WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM 😭😭😭😭😭#TANAMAI OSHI NO KOED HIM#hes kinda slaying the mullet though. tanamai can u give normal akira a mullet too just for funsies. and for my personal enjoyment of course#but WAHHHHHH TAKAHASHIIIII 😭😭😭😭

One thing I wish I'd see more of among Ratio fans is some thought about how he views himself as a teacher.
Like yes, of course he refuses to compromise on the quality and rigor of the education he imparts, and he would find it unforgivably unethical to lower his standards in order to pass more students who had not genuinely learned the material. This is core to his character.
However, as someone who is a teacher IRL, I know the absolutely miserable feeling setting that kind of standard can cause. There's the obvious disheartening sense of disappointment ("Are students these days really not capable of doing the work correctly? Is our future in danger, if this is the highest level of understanding our current generation of students can achieve?"), but even worse than that is the self-doubt.
"Is this somehow my fault? Am I not teaching this material in the right ways for the students to learn? Is there something I could have done differently to get through to these students? Would a better teacher have a higher passing rate?"
We know that Ratio does (or at least did) struggle with feeling inferior to the Genius Society, so I think it is also likely, as much as he absolutely will not budge on his academic standards, that he has doubts about his teaching ability as well.
This is the man who wants to educate the entire world to cure the disease of ignorance, and yet only 3% of his actual students are able to get there. How can someone who gets so few of his direct students to a state of enlightenment hope to enlighten the whole universe? If so few students are successfully learning the material of a given class, doesn't that mean the teacher is doing something wrong?Would a better teacher--would a genius, maybe--not be able to impart their knowledge more efficiently and educate even the most challenging of students?
As someone constantly struggling with that balance between keeping academic standards high while also meeting the needs of today's students, I think the passing rates of his courses must affect Dr. Ratio much more deeply than I've seen fans discuss. I think he would question himself harshly over his class success rates, and I think he must be constantly trying to push himself to become the best teacher he possibly can be.
tl;dr: I hope one day the HSR fandom will stop sleeping on the fact that Ratio is an actual practicing professor who probably has astronomical levels of teacher angst. 😂
#honkai star rail#dr. ratio#not to be#ratiorine#in everything I post but#secretly this is just an excuse to imagine Aventurine throwing Ratio a sympathy party#a “Let's eat our feelings" party because the doctor just got his course evals back#and there are some insults on there that would make his ancestors cry#I can just imagine Aventurine reading out the really obnoxious Rate My Professor reviews#in whiny entitled voices#just to squeak a smile out of a gloomy Ratio#but I also really like the idea of Aventurine helping Ratio become a better teacher!!#because he's sharp and a fast learner#but he doesn't have a background in formal/public education#he's not set in the system's ways#he could suggest some really out-of-the-box ideas to help Ratio get through to more students#and be a great sounding board for Ratio's lesson material#brutally honest feedback lol#“Ratio I am in love with you but I still can't listen to you talk about gravitational time dilation for one minute more”#“You're going to HAVE to make this lecture less dry than my martini.”#look let me just enjoy this teacher fantasy for a sec#lol

I really do think looking at bad writing is one of the best ways to learn about writing in general, especially for beginners.
the thing is, writing in general is highly subjective- a good sentence will be good in different ways to different people, or not impress someone at all.
a bad sentence? most people can spot bad sentences easy, especially if it is presented to them as 'here's an example of a bad sentence, let's unpack why.'
bad writing can also be very funny, which I think is again often more engaging than 'here's a work of literary genius go analyze it'. Like here's some bad writing from lightlark3:
The moment it was out of Horus’s grip, his body became bones. The flesh turned to ash. He became a corpse.
it's dumb as hell, but I think could foster a solid discussion when you ask 'why? what is the author intending to say? what about it makes it feel 'clunky'? How would you write the same idea?'
#truly pointless posting of just. thoughts in me head#“of course you'd say that guy who has a special interest in bad writing” okay but I think it's true#thinking about chatgpt and writing and just going 'goddamn I wish I could help the youth with writing bc it can be so fun'#'analytical skills are so important in general especially with writing and reading and I think this is a fun good way to introduce that'#I don't do full on breakdowns of examples of bad writing that much in reviews vs more in context talk...#but I do hope I do a good job of trying to explain my thoughts and how I got there and how things can be viewed from many angles and not ju#t that things are bad but why. sometimes I feel very repetative when I explain stuff but then i think what if my vid is the first time#someone is exposed to some concept. I don't want them to learn 'this trope sucks' i want them to know why and how it fails and what it is#i guess....... rambles. I don't think I could be a teacher esp not go to uni again but its a thing I've always been passionate about#bc I have this dumb naive idea I can communicate with people and help them understand things#I also just want to be a positive influence on people's lives. idc online but I used to co-run dnd for mixed age group#and I enjoyed being that aspect of 'after school club adult'. I didn't have a lot of adult support as a kid so it's nice to be that!

I could easily spend the whole day thinking about Luke's acting... He has this ability to capture the subtle details that make a character feel so real: a pause before speaking, the way he holds tension, a shift in posture
It's the kind of nuanced performance that often goes unnoticed, but when it's not there, you can totally feel it! It's pretty amazing that he can pull all of that off in improv
#shoot from the hip#sfth#luke manning#i mean he's an improvisation teacher so of course he's good at it but still blew my mind
