How can I print notes online?
Notepad: A tool that is included in your PC and laptop. You can't uninstall it because it's inbuilt tools that come with your window. Notepad is a very commonly used tool that you can't download as it comes with a Windows function. In Notepad, you can write your text and name is defining that tool called note. Note means you can note down your things in that tool. If you are a Shayari lover, write a bio or any other notes that you want to save. You can type on it and save it permanently on your computer or PC. But as we know, many computers can have issues or crashes which may cause you will lose your notes. So, in that case, you can save everything online over an online notepad. Now, the question is how it will work and where you will get the file. Also, after noting down in the online Notepad, can we change the notes after publishing?
Tumblr media
In this topic, we will let you know more about the Online Notepad which is helpful to make a print for any documents. If we talk, you are in a system in which a printer is not installed or wants to print out from a cyber café. How to do that? You need to mail your offline notepad file to yourself or a cyber man, then download it and print out the file. In that case, you can use an online notepad to print out your notes. There are several benefits of online Notepad, which resolves many issues compared to offline Notepad. But on that page, we will talk more about how to print notes from the online Notepad.
WHAT IS ONLINE NOTEPAD?
Everyone moved to digital platforms and didn't store everything on a computer. So, if you are creating notes for your School Work, office work, interest notes like Sharyaris, bios or any other information that you want to save online and take prints, in that case use an online Notepad. Do you know how to use Online Notepad? Online Notepad, which is also known as "online word pad," offers convenience, accessibility, and organization of the notes, which makes it easy to manage your notes online for printout. In online Notepad, many other facilities, like printing notes, inserting links, styling text, adding emojis, etc., make it unique. And you can take them print out too whenever you want. You don't need to do everything on your computer or your PC, which may cause you will lose your data. Also, you have lots of hassle when you print out them after a month or later. In that case, you can store all your notes in an online notepad and you can print them out when you want as well as wherever you want. We will discuss more about how to create an online Notepad and how to print them out.
STEP 1: Open any Online Notepad Tools
To start making notes, you need to open any Online Notepad like pastenow.net, justpaste.it or many other online tools. All the online notepads are web-based tools, so you need to have an internet connection to access them. No matter if you are using a Wi-Fi connection or else connect with your mobile internet. These applications can open into low connection, too. They are cloud-based tools like Google Docs. You can open any website that can provide the features of Online Notepad.
STEP 2: Write a note that you want to print
After opening any site for online Notepad, you will see a blank option like offline Notepad. You can copy and paste your content through a Notepad file or WordPad file. No matter if you are using it for professional or personal because online notepad tool will work for both. Also, if you want to design your text, you can use fancy font tools to make it impressive. When your notes are ready to print out, you can move to further steps.
STEP 3: Adjust the format (optional)
After adding your content or notes, you can print out your notes. But before printing, you can adjust your Notepad according to your page size. Like if you are using an A4 page, and then you can use it according to it. This option is optional, so if you don't want to adjust it, then there is no requirement to adjust the format. So, if you still don't adjust your notes according to your page, then you can still set it into the printout page
STEP 4: Use Print Function
After setting everything, you can find the print function in your desktop or laptop keywords. Or else you can take a printout by pressing right-click on the mouse and selecting print. But if it has no option, you can command Ctrl+P in Windows or Command+P in Mac. Click on this option to open the print dialogue box.
STEP 5: Change Print Settings as per you
To customize your notes, you can configure print settings in the printer dialogue box. Here are some points where you can change it:
Printer: - Select the printer you have on your computers and which can used by you.
Page Range: - You can select the pages you want to print. You can print specific pages or even print all pages in one print.
Paper Size and Orientation: - Ensure you can use the same paper size you would have (e.g., A4 size, letter size). You can easily print it in landscape or portrait mode.
Color or Black and White: - If you have a color printer, you can print your notes in any color. But if you haven't, then by default, it prints in black & white color.
STEP 6: Preview and Print
After configuring your printing settings, you can preview your page and see what it looks like. If it is good, you can click on the print option, but if the page preview does not look like what you want, you can change it again. After clicking on the printing option, you can collect all the pages that can be printed.
Other Benefits of Online Notepad:
There are several other benefits except for the printout. You can take benefits with the help of online notepad tools. We all know that in offline Notepad, you need to have the same desktop to use it. But in digital words, you may need your content or notes wherever you want. You can store your codes in an online Notepad when you are a developer. Or you can store your other professional or personal information over the online Notepad. There are several reasons to use online Notepad.

How and why is it literally impossible for me to paste a link into a tumblr post. even the add link pop up bar refuses my links but I can paste that same link in any other program so I’m certain it’s this app and not my link. Functional fucking website. Is this some sort of malfunction of the richtext editor that I’m supposed to figure out how to turn off?

I had to use the HTML editor to manually edit that last text post and omg I can’t believe I used to only post using that thing even after tumblr made richtext the default for everyone

- [aos spirk, spock pov] -
Every moment I witness you like a tragic hero of ancient Ni'Var Brave in your deeds will they sing of you in far millennia. Brave in your bearings will they sing on Ni'Var
A mind captured by the lyrical romanticists So bright it enraptured with a single touching So swift it brings beings to their knees, who would dare touch.
So terrific in its monstrosity, I cannot, nor do i wish to, have you from my sight.
I would not have you know what it is to drown for want of this emotion boiling away inside, lighting the ancient predator slumbering within
A thing that claws at my belly and quickens my blood to fever.
Do you know: drowning victims do not panic as they succumb to their fate? - c.j.

It's Monday again and the dread 'I want to die' is back; and the weight, and the guilt.
Again, I don't think this is normal, and I don't think this is okay.
Thoughts are messy and this fucking text box is slow and it's annoying the fuck out of me but -
So I'm supposedly in the mental health sector, right. But no one is talking about Gaza and Palestine. Where do we go to talk about what we're witnessing in the world, mass death and genocide going on in real time? Why are we not talking about it? Why are we supposed to just turn up to work and school and somehow... not talk about it?
And then there's the utter and absolute anxiety because going to work (placement supposedly, but it is work) or any social event means no one is bloody wearing a mask, and I fucking know that they haven't been wearing one at any time outside. And I still have to drink water and eat, at least. I've been dehydrated for most of the last week because I've had to be outside, which means I don't drink water while I'm walking around.
And the community health place - ironic, I know - I'm on placement at has the fucking open office cubicles set-up, and that means I can not only hear everyone all of the fucking time, and people are on video calls at their desks, and also what the fuck what about client notes and privacy?, but also that that means everyone is fucking breathing into the same space, and no one is wearing a mask. So I can't drink water because that would mean having to take my mask off, and since we don't get to just have a room to ourselves the whole day, I guess I won't be drinking water the whole day somehow either.
I'm so fucking tired.
And I got a new laptop because my old one was whining - literally making a high-pitched whine when it was plugged in and charging and on at the same time - but this new one I got off Marketplace (FB) I don't seem to have taken to quite as well, I have to press hard to type and I keep missing keys, and the keys are spaced further away than before, and the keyboard layout is a little different, and so it's not as good for me to type and frustrating too, and also, well,
I got given a work laptop tablet thing so now I have to carry both of them around because even the cubicles are technically ones you need to book for the days you're there, like the rooms you have to individually book each time for each individual session with clients, so I can't leave the work laptop there,
and I don't have Microsoft Office on this laptop, and so I'm trying to learn how to use LibreOffice finally, but some of the formatting doesn't translate, and
even backspacing on this fucking text box is so fucking slow and it's driving me insane, and
remember when technology was fun?
I think my brain is shutting down a little.
It's Monday and I haven't heard back from any of the places I sent an application to and frankly it's not like I was expecting to hear back I guess, but more importantly
it's Monday and that means the workweek is started again and that means I have to Get Things Done today and that includes stuff like thinking about what I need to do about the rent increase which, when I rang the rental agent to ask something about, they answered me with an immediate 'So you're moving out?'
but really what I wanted to say is - and here is another tangent because I'm definitely going crazy, this text box isn't keeping up with my typing speed so it's slow and lagging and that means that I can't see mistakes and typos as they happen and letters keep dropping and there are so many mistakes my g-d and I have to type so hard and I'm going insane, I'm going insane, I'm going ins-
what I really wanted to say is - actually maybe I should just go back to using my old laptop oh my g-d this is all too much trouble and too much change to handle all at once and I'm tired and my hands are tired and my wrists are tired and my fingers are tired and I -
Well. What I really wanted to say is that. It's Monday and I am being crushed by the weight on my chest that is the thing that says "You have to email the place today and call the organisation today and respond to the conversation thing today and get back in touch with that friend you said you would catch up with last Thursday or Friday but then you got busy and didn't hear from each other and -"
but instead I am going to fucking play some FF.

The Incident in the last tags was in relation to leer aka eden rewrite.
check-ins required gdocs. which, like, fine, whatever. bothersome since that thing is laggy as SHIT on my end but i'll live.
i thought
now, you see, i'd been having a wretched time. lowest of the lows i'd had in a while. working on leer had been nothing but the little bit of joy i had at the time. it's nice to work on something experimental and seeing it come together after all! then, The Incident. i paste leer into gdocs thinking it'll be fine.
leer, experimental as it is, is in screenplay format. meaning fully edited and formatted, it looks like this.
Tumblr media
leer was nearly finished at that point. it had 60k of its 77k words.
all the formatting was gone. uploading the darned thing didn't make the formatting work either, because the universe fucking HATED me that day. so guess which person going through a hysterical breakdown laugh-sobbing as it progressed, was forced to re-align already aligned text. because the mods said it needed at least the base formatting.
and THAT's why i have a blood feud with gdocs
also read leer please

Something I've been meaning to ask for years now but keep forgetting constantly.
Why doesn't Ao3 have the option of uploading a whateveritscalled.file for fics? Why do I need to copy and paste my work onto the richtext/htmladditor? On Ff.net and other fanfic archives uploading a file is as easy as clicking two buttons.
--
Uploading files was not the norm for most archives other than FFN historically unless you go back to FTP archives. There were some, sure, but it was far from universal. I wasn't on the coding side of things, but it may just not have been seen as desirable or a priority.
Remember, this is a crowd that left FFN, not only because of the porn ban but because Livejournal had a decent WYSIWYG editor instead of a file uploader.

A Tentative Timeline of DOS2
Ok Divinity peeps here is a tentative timeline for the events surrounding DOS2. Please read more for notes, annotations, and takeaways:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Annotations (bc it's too much text for ALT):
1218 AD:
Lucian Ascends. Saves and adopts an infant Damien. Alexandar is not yet born.
1233:
Great War Starts.
Sometime in 1233:
Great War Ends.
Elven Forest Destroyed by Deathfog.
Lucian Declared Dead.
First Godwoken Killed by Lone Wolves.
1234:
First Lucian's Day.
First Voidwoken appears.
1235:
Alexandar takes over the Divine Order.
1236:
First Sourcerers are detained to Fort Joy.
1242:
Seven prisoners survive a shipwreck and land at Fort Joy. (Start of DOS2)
1244:
Fallen Heroes is said to take place.
Notes from Chart:
It is unclear if the war against the Black Ring in 1233 is the Great War or the Chaos War. I refer to it as the Great War but the text of the game and the lorebook uses both interchangeably
Most points (save Lucian's ascension and Fallen Heroes date) are taken from DOS2 files, DLC, Wiki, and Mortismal Gaming (all linked below). You can take the Fallen Heroes date with a grain of salt (bc who knows when/if it'll come out.) but I wanted to include it's date to further the idea that the DOS2 journey has space to take as long as you the player wants. A 2 week sprint around the Rivellon is just as valid as the 2 years.
You can use the comic as a resource for events note. But it doesn't specify years you're free to add them wherever they make the most sense to you.
Lucian is confirmed "dead" sometime in 1233 before 1234. This is bc the first celebration of Lucian's day and hope for new Divine.
The Great War is separated bc there's nothing that states how long it was.
Notes:
I have a file that contains basically every text seen in dos2 if you need it I've linked it HERE. (You can open this file on notepad, wordpad, or any richtext editor (not Microsoft Word mine crashed ;w;). You could probably edit out the content id tags to make searching easier but those help me realize we're on a new line of text so i keep them.) I basically input every year from 1218 - 1242 AD to check and see if there's any info in regards to things happening that year. I combined my sources with two timelines I had seen from both the wiki (HERE) and Mortismal Gaming (HERE).
Sidenote, shoutout to the wiki which also has a written copy of a lot of the notes in game (HERE). While I recommend people do runs to better understand the origin characters (for example did you know in an origin run Ifan cannot say whatever pisses off Paladin Hardwin to say that he won't have his comrades sacrifice be shoved in his face) and what's going on in their heads, the wiki does a fantastic job of catching some things you might not see on your run. You can't screenshot everything (my computer is calling me a hypocrite i can hear them) and the wiki is a great resource.
Takeaways and what we can do with this info:
I set out with this timeline to figure out one thing. Originally, I wanted to know what reasonable age Ifan could be at the start of DOS2. I got a range of numbers that'd make sense for how I view his character and then was able to make headcanons for every other character based on that. For me tacking down Ifan's life gives me some ideas on when Sebille was taken, how old the Red Prince may be, and when did Beast get exiled. It doesn't help as much for Lohse (who I just think is the baby of the group) and Fane (listen if i just say he's over a millennia old would you all take it?). And in order to do that I needed to know some of the basic events happening in and around DOS2.
I the goal in making this timeline going over the general happening around DOS2's start is to help anyone with fleshing out character HCs and worldbuilding. It helps me when writing to know what things exist in a universe so I add on what I like or highlight parts of history. (I also bc I wanted to give the origin characters a zodiac shhhhh.)
One of the shortcomings of this is that this timeline has a lot of room to expand bc a lot of documents are very human focused/written. For example there's info in the comics that shows there's tension between dwarves and lizards that isn't dated but you could tack one down. I wish Larian had tacked down one event per race (for example: let's say in 1231 the dwarves begin to express concern due to expansions of the ancient Empire into dwarven land) but alas it didn't happen. I also wanted to avoid adding any of my own HCs because the divinity journey is your own and I would like to provide a general resources for those that might need it. If this helps others build their own timeline and world then I did my job. I'll make a separate post maybe one day on each of the characters and the timelines I make for them but that's a problem for future me.
Please lemme know if this helps at all if there's things I can expound upon.

you've switched to godot right? how have you been finding your time using it? my partner finds making menus and UI super fun (compared to unity that is)
Coming from gamemaker, the mere fact I have easy access to skeletal meshes alone is fucking amazing. And yeah, making UI is such a breeze it's not even funny. The richtext node's easily my favourite for that, you can stuff in bbcode like you're writing a forum post or something lol

Options For Categorizing Notes
In advance of digital convenience, the convergence of technology and productivity has birthed many tools to enhance efficiency. One such tool that has gained prominence is the online notepad, offering the convenience of "notepad typing" with added features for organization. Among these features, the ability to categorize or tag notes stands out as a valuable asset. Online notepads have evolved beyond traditional paper counterparts, embracing the digital landscape's inherent advantages. Categorization and tagging options have emerged as essential organizational tools within these platforms. They empower users to transcend the limitations of physical notes, enabling them to sort and retrieve information effortlessly. Categorization allows users to group notes based on themes, projects, or topics. For instance, a student might categorize notes according to subjects, a professional could categorize by clients or projects, and a creative writer might classify ideas by genre. This systematic arrangement fosters streamlined access and efficient management of notes.
Tumblr media
Tagging, on the other hand, offers a dynamic way to connect notes across categories. A user can assign multiple tags to a single note, creating an intricate web of interconnected information. It is invaluable when a particular note spans multiple themes or cross-referencing becomes essential. A researcher, for instance, could tag notes with relevant keywords, allowing for swift retrieval of information across various studies. Both categorization and tagging elevate the concept of "notepad typing" to a new level. It transforms the online notepad from a digital transcription tool to a comprehensive knowledge management system. Users can create a personalized organizational structure that mirrors their thought processes, making information retrieval as intuitive as typing.

HTML, RichText, and BB_Markup
Back in the day "RichText" or text that can be stylized like you would in Microsoft Word, or an E-Mail, wasn't often available in social media platforms.
And there's still some social media platforms who don't allow it at all.
This has multiple reasons, the processing is done in script at the browser level, and so there used to be performance reasons not to allow it. Or most of your users would experience a slow down just to view the text, why bother with it?
As browsers started getting more comfortable and fast enough to deliver HTML pages, with the markup allowed in HTML, HTML became the default. But as JavaScript grew in popularity, scope and use. HTML itself became a way for people to inject scripts directly into the page.
And instead of just, cleaning script tags and other injection vulnerabilities, websites took HTML away from users all together. This was a problem, in Part, directly influenced by the W3C {World-wide web consortium}, and big-browser (Microsoft, Netscape, and Mozilla, and later Google, Apple, and Opera) who all implemented HTML/CSS/JS differently.
Nobody knows why they did this, they just did. (Actually, there's a bunch of different reasons, but as you look deeper into the rabbit hole, the more absurd it gets.)
After that, forum and social media designers came up with *BB_Markup* I think BB means blackboard, but who knows for sure anymore.
BB was basically a shorthand HTML markup that used square-brackets instead of triangle-brackets, and at a server level, that markup got turned into *safe* HTML markup--to avoid user-level injection attacks.
We also get a bunch of other short hand that may or may not be used in certain platforms (like reddit) to this day. Wrapping text in asterisks to italicize a word, or tildes or the little wavey dash (~) which denote bolding under lining or strike through depending on what you're used to.
All sorts of things that some people who were netizens of the 90s and early-00s might still be in the habit of using.
Today, there's little reason for browsers to even allow <script> or script-referencing mark-up at that particular level anymore. Which would solve A LOT of early security issues. But they don't change it back because a lot of websites still use tricks like that, because that's what developers do.
Even though advertising still allows injection and browser-hijacking at a "user-level" just like in the olden days. Yep, if you host ads, there's a good chance you're allowing those ads to deliver malware to your users.
Looking at you YouTube and websites that say "Please stop using ad-block". They don't use them to prevent you from getting paid, they use them to stop you from injecting their device with malware.
You big dummys.
That's part of the reason why I'm an advocate of "ad-reform". Advertising companies are leveraging their ad-platforms for more than simply delivering ads.
There's a drive to put internet tools only in the hands of companies, taking net freedoms a lot of early-adopters take for granted, not like ad-block, more like not having to worry about malware being delivered to you while you're powerless to stop it.
I'm not even talking about internet surveillance, I'm talking about advertising companies delivering malware to office equipment. You know those hacks that seemingly target large databases everyday?
Paid Advertising.
Since a lot of, too many even, Internet users these days even know the basics of HTML/CSS/JS, they don't even get to see what it feels like to have the inspection tools be taken away from you so you can see how it is these websites are f* you.
I can't even [view source] on my phone anymore. *That's considered* a bigger security risk than ad-delivery hijacking *your* phone.
How much does ad delivery cost these days, and you can see, that's the price of delivering malware to the user. Not just advertising products.

Writer info! How to add to the Collection
Tumblr media
There are a few housekeeping things to offer as we enter the last week of the femslash fest. For those who are familiar with ao3 basics:
Upload your fic to ao3 anytime before the 26th! Just make sure to gift your fic to your giftee if their ao3 handle is in their bio, and add your fic to the Cosmere Femslash Fest 2023 Collection. This Collection is currently Unrevealed, which means your fic will stay hidden from everyone until it is revealed on the 26th.
For those who are unfamiliar with ao3 or need a refresher–once you have created your ao3 account and written a fic, this is what to do:
In ao3, go to your dashboard and click “post new”.
Give your fic the appropriate rating, warnings, and tags (Here’s a comprehensive, searchable guide for how to use ao3 metatext)
Under “Post to Collections / Challenges”, type in Cosmere Femslash Fest 2023. That’s us!
Under “Gift this work to”, enter your giftee’s ao3 account name from their bio, if they provided one.
Enter your fic in html or richtext format. (Want a script that does the html formatting for you? Click here! Note that in the google doc it says “post to ao3” in a dropdown menu, but that’s a misnomer. It doesn’t actually post it, it just does the html formatting. You still have to copy and paste it into the box in ao3.)
Submit the fic, and you’re done! We will confirm with you that everything’s good to go.
Upload your fic whenever you're ready! The fic will stay hidden in the Collection until the reveal on the 26th. If you need help with anything, check out the links above. You can also send us an ask or DM me @cosmereplay.

banish every gaslight; let clarity shine - Part 7
Well, as I prep this, my backroom has officially been forced into changing into the new richtext version that doesn't like keyboard shortcuts so let's hope that this doesn't break anything too badly (bc I already broke it trying to put in a Read More ffs why this site).
Part 1 [FFN/AO3] - Part 2 [FFN/AO3] - Part 3 [FFN/AO3] - Part 4 [FFN/AO3] - Part 5 [FFN/AO3] - Part 6 [FFN/AO3]
Baby 5 makes a deal while Corazón and Law do not have a good time. [2365 words; AU where there is a Third Corazón, whose existence makes Law’s life hell]
When Baby 5 got to the top of the rope, Viola reached her hand out and hauled the other woman out herself. There was a huge commotion in the square, with citizens and toys alike panicking about not only the explosion that had gone off, but the fact that there were people coming out of a hole in the ground.
“We need to get to Antonia,” Baby 5 said quickly. “If we don’t get to her in time—!”
“It’s too late,” Viola replied. “The toys have reported that Antonia has already been left to dispose of Law. Doffy’s somewhere out there with the rest of the Elite Officers and we’ve got major trouble if we don’t shake this thing down.”
“…and how are we going to do that?”
“Oh! Hey! You must be the lady Viola was talking about!” Baby 5 looked and suddenly there was a teenager in a straw hat grinning in her face. “Hi! I’m Monkey D. Luffy, and I’m gonna be King of the Pirates!”
…a D…?!
“She said you knew Torao,” Luffy continued, “but that you also both work for Mingo? He doesn’t really seem like that good of a boss, is he?”
“You’re right, he’s not,” Baby 5 frowned. “Who is Torao…?”
“Oh, I can’t say Torao’s name, so it’s Torao now!” the boy beamed.
“Luffy is the one whose crew brought Law to Dressrosa; they are allies.” Baby 5 stared at Viola, then Luffy.
“This kid?”
“Apparently.”
“If you don’t like Mingo, why do you work for him?” Luffy wondered.
“…because, if I don’t someone close to me will be in danger,” Baby 5 replied. “Antonia and I grew up together—she’s like my sister.”
“Shishishi! Then she’s lucky to have a sister like you! Like I have my brothers!” The smile then faded from his face as he thought for a moment. “How come she and Torao hate each other so much? The way he made it sound when we were coming here was like they hated each other before they’d even met.”
“That’s the thing,” she said, “they don’t.” Luffy tilted his head and she shook hers. “That’s not my story to tell. We just have to get to them before she does something she’ll regret forever. Will you please help us?”
“If it means I get to kick Mingo’s ass, I don’t care what I gotta do first,” he grinned. Luffy then noticed the others who were coming up from the Scrap Heap. “Oh, hey, Cabbage! I didn’t know you were down there!”
“Straw Hat!” Cavendish gasped in disgust. “How did you escape the Coliseum?”
“Oh, it’s a long story, but I’m glad that I was able to get you guys out!”
“You what…?” King Riku marveled. “Don’t tell me it was you who caused the explosion!”
“Sort of…?” Luffy folded his arms and tilted his head. “I kind of redirected a bomb one of the military guys tossed at me before they became occupied…”
‘This guy’s a monster,’ Baby 5 thought. ‘He’s perfect.’
“If that’s the case, then do you want to help me get my sister back?” she grinned. His smile matched, then quickly surpassed hers.
“Yosh!”
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
The blade at Law’s cheek was uncomfortably close as he stared at Corazón, for once not knowing what to say. He had spent over a decade being the one with all the answers on the crew—the one who had at least five different plans before anything began to start let alone go sour—and this was new territory for him. His parents had been the only ones to have ever seen through all his plots as a child, and now that his mother was glaring back at him again after so long… it was disarming, to say the least.
“Answer me, Trafalgar,” Corazón hissed, pinning him tighter to the wall. She pulled the knife slightly and sliced a small slit on his jaw, the fresh pain stinging brightly against his other established aches. “Why is your face so familiar?”
Shit… he needed to think fast… what could he do to stall? To give him time? To get more information out of her? To get her to realize what was going on…?
“Can…” he exhaled heavily, “…can I ask you a question first? There’s something I need to know before I take your threat as seriously as you want.”
“Depends; what is it?”
“Do you ever feel like things don’t add up?” He shivered as her brows furrowed; fuck, he was not used to this. At all. His stomach felt like it was going to all come up at once and he had to swallow to hold it down. Licking his lips did nothing to wet them and his throat felt raw. “Do you feel like everything in your life makes sense or is something… off…?”
Corazón took the knife from Law’s face and put it back in its sheath. He was trembling as he stared at her, about ready to pass out from nerves alone. Seas… of all the people, it had to be Lami… it had to be his baby sister! She studied his face for a moment, as though looking for cracks in a mask, and frowned tightly.
“I have a recurring dream,” she said. “It’s the day my mother died, before Papa and I went to live with Uncle Doffy in Spider Miles.”
His breath hitched—memories?! How did she have fake memories?!
“We were sitting down to dinner when a bomb went through the living room wall and killed her. Papa ran with me far as he could—we didn’t bring anything with us. There was no time to pack, let alone bury her.” Corazón licked her lips as she stared at a bit of wall past Law’s shoulder. Fuck… how did she not notice they did that the exact same way? “There’s always something that seems… something that doesn’t quite fit.”
“What… is it…?”
“I don’t know; you were the one who asked me.” She then looked him dead-on, her expression steely. “What did it look like?”
“What…?”
“If you think you know so much, then what did the kitchen look like?” she repeated. “Don’t make me say it again.”
“Alright, fine,” he agreed. Law closed his eyes and breathed in deeply, trying to bring his memories back to a happier time without risking it having him break down further. He was already so out of his element, so overtaken by his emotions, that he didn’t know how long he was going to last. “Almost everything sparkled white, because of Amber Lead’s refined state favoring that color, but our kitchen had touches of deep, dark blue. It was the bluest blue, which was in the curtains and part of the tile pattern on the floor. The walls behind the counter had that blue as well—Flevance was actually famous for it before the Amber Lead, and…”
Corazón snarled and suddenly a punch cracked Law’s skull against the stone wall and smashed his nose at the same time. She let go and he sagged to the ground.
“Don’t fuck with me, Trafalgar,” she hissed. His vision was blurred and partially whited-out; fuck, he was not equipped to deal with head trauma of all things. She kicked him in the stomach, knocking the wind out of him.
“We always kept five chairs in the kitchen!” he gasped through the blood spurting from his nose and the ringing in his ears. “Sometimes Mom and Dad hosted visiting doctors and old colleagues—why would there be five chairs if there was three of you?! The extra one was always against the wall when we weren’t using it!”
She paused mid-kicking motion and thought. How many chairs were in their kitchen? It was easy to guess their kitchen was blue and white—lots of Northern homes had blue and white kitchens—and yet…
…there were five chairs in the kitchen, one off to the side and four at the table.
“You sat across from Dad,” he continued. “You needed two volumes of the old encyclopedia set to sit on in order to reach properly. The stove never lit unless one of our parents did this thing where they wiggled the knob while twisting it. You hit your head on an open cupboard door the day before your sixth birthday, splitting your right eyebrow open!”
Inhaling sharply, Corazón kicked Law in the stomach again.
“My mother died when I was five, you piece of shit!” She rolled him over onto his back and placed her foot on his shoulder, pressing down so hard he wrenched his eyes shut in pain. “That could not have happened because she was already gone. The world took both my parents before I was eight and Uncle Doffy promised me the world in return! None of this makes any sense!”
“What’s not making sense?!”
“Why do you know about my eyebrow?!” Law opened his eyes and looked up at her, seeing that there were tears in her eyes. “I always keep it covered with my mask or makeup! How the fuck do you know about that?!”
“I helped stitch it!” Silence settled between them, the only sounds being that of his heavy breathing and far-off fighting. His voice was quiet as he stared at her and asked, “How old are you…?”
“Twenty.”
“What… what did he do to you…?” he breathed. “He took your memories, he took your personality, he took two whole years of your life away…” He closed his eyes and tried to look away, attempting to hide his tears and grit teeth against the patio stone as he curled inward on himself.
Somehow Doflamingo knew this was going to happen. Law realized that this was just a sick joke by an even sicker man, who was ready to torture him long before he even put his plan into action… before he had considered becoming a Shichibukai to further his goals. His former boss, former groomer, former abuser, had done everything he couldn’t do to him, except to his little sister instead. He barely recognized her, and all for what…?
In the end, he was a bad brother, wasn’t he? Why didn’t he press further? Leave for his pirate career earlier? Pay closer attention? Out of all the doable things he’d promised his parents’ corpses, protecting Lami had been such a big one, and now… fuck… he was so tired. He couldn’t go on. Frankly, how could he? Law sighed in resignation and looked Corazón in the eyes.
“Go ahead. Kill me.”
“Wait, what…?” Corazón knelt down and stared at him, trying to understand. “You just spent so much time trying to get me to not kill you, and now you want to die?”
“I thought you were dead for so long, and now that you’re here, after all this time… that bastard won. He knows that I can’t live in a world with you like this, even if I avenge Cora-san.”
“Cora-san…? You mean…?”
“The Second Corazón, Donquixote Rosinante.” Huh… that didn’t make sense…
“…but why would you avenge Papa…?”
“…because he’s not your father; I keep trying to tell you, but you’re just as stubborn as when you were little. Cora-san helped save us and I think… I think he would have gone back for Bee and fled with the three of us if he survived long enough.”
Corazón gaped. “Bee…? You know Bee…?”
“I thought I did, but if you truly are like this, then I guess she just was another of Doflamingo’s pawns after all…”
“…which is something I’m beginning to rethink with each passing moment.” Law and Corazón both tensed as they realized they were being watched. Doflamingo hopped down from the roof and frowned at the youngsters. “Antonia, dear, why haven’t you drowned the rat?”
“Uncle Doffy, why don’t I remember him?” she asked. Corazón stood upright, staring him down with the ease that came from being his protege for a decade. “The things he’s saying… none of it adds up.”
“That is because he’s lying,” he replied. He stepped close enough to grab her face with one hand and tilt it up as though she were a petulant child. “After all this time, he’s still jealous that it was you I chose.”
“Don’t touch her!” Law shouted, his efforts to wriggle out of his cuffs renewed. “Get away from her!”
“You failed this test, Antonia,” Doflamingo said, ignoring Law. “Here I was thinking I could give you some more responsibility around here and instead you disappoint me.”
“Uncle Doffy, I…!”
“Now how am I going to punish you, hmm…?” He lifted her up so that he stood straight, her legs dangling as she tried to break free of his grip. “I have not had to punish my darling niece in oh so long… I don’t even know what’s age-appropriate these days…”
“Let me go!” Corazón demanded. She let out a burst of Haki, only for Doflamingo to unleash his, dropping her so as to give the full effect of his crushing, oppressive presence.
“Don’t think you’re going to get off easy, Corazón,” he sneered. “Now what are we going to do? No dessert for a week? Take away your toys?” He watched as she tried to get back on her feet and grinned at her struggling. “Ah, yes; I believe I’ll send you to your room for a time out. That will teach you to not be naughty and disobey…” He held out a hand and twitched his fingers, Corazón feeling her limbs jerk into place as he caught her in his web.
Oh no…
Just then, a shishishi was heard as something whizzed towards them, landing a punch on Donflamingo’s left side. The blond flew into a wall and the strings holding onto Corazón snapped.
“He’s not gonna stay down for long,” their rescuer grinned. Corazón stared in confusion, while Law…
“Strawhat-ya!” he snapped. “What the fuck are you doing?!”
“Her sister said I can’t beat up Mingo until I get you two to safety,” Luffy shrugged. He hefted Law under one arm, threw Antonia over his other shoulder, coiled his legs into springs, and jumped.
Holy fucking shit.
