Aster™ Assistant Software update (05.09.2025)
[ Video demonstrating the Side Panel (used by Vega) shows up next to Aster (Rigel fronting) even after being moved ]
Long story short: overhaul of how the side panel follows Aster around.
Also be mindful as the update may shift the position of speech balloons! You can reset balloon positions with Ctrl+Shift+F10 or via utilities in right click menu.
A minor change for the users, but a pretty massive change on the internal side of things. I have some things to say about it, there's a tech ramble under cut.
The update is currently available in the initial .nar pack download and via Network Update in the right click menu!
Thank you for downloading Aster™ Assistant Software!
[ 🌟 What is Aster™ Assistant Software? 🌟]
[ 💥 Check out Aster™ Terror Star! 💥 ]
The need to make sure side panel stays at Aster's side has been haunting me since their initial development, but with help of the community and my own accumulated knowledge of ukagaka development, I can finally say that it's been put to bed.
Before this change, the windows were basically glued together and if you wanted to reposition the panel, you'd use the according option in the menu. The option was introduced later after release.
This has since been broken by an SSP update, so it was time to end it once and for all. On my set of displays in particular this also resulted in the two getting constantly stuck together. Thanks Windows 11!
While there's ways to bypass this, i think the previous solution was a bit janky to begin with. Instead, now the side panel changes position whenever it needs to show up, while keeping primary screen boundaries in mind, just like SSP changes directions of the speech balloons.
Instead of calling up the panel to move it, you can just disable or reenable this.
Lastly, as I'm slowly getting back into ukagaka development again and remembering how things work, I want to mention that this change was also necessary, as I will need it in the next CaelOS ukagaka project.
It will be more of an idle visual novel than a companion on your desktop, but I hope if/when it comes out people still enjoy it. I've only so far made up a prototype ghost to test the kinds of animations i want it to use.
as before i'll probably be posting progress on this as it happens. but i can safely call it a start!

Rigel
In which Sarima helps the squad out Read on Ao3!
A loud thud sounded from the kitchen, and Sarima groaned, digging the heels of her palms into her eyes.
Time wasn’t something one concerned themselves with on the World Ship; There was no day or night cycles for the people who couldn’t afford artificial displays in their windows. You did things when you had time. If you had a job then maybe it was different, but everyone came from everywhere with different cycles.
Terra has its 24 hour day-night cycle. Trask has a 16 hour cycle where nobody can see the sky due to wind storms and living underground. Maestra-II has six moons positioned around the planet where you can always see one, maybe two of them.
It didn’t matter. You ate when you had time, you worked when you had too much time, and you slept when you were tired.
At least, when you were tired and people weren’t making a racket in the same room.
She sat up, casting a glare over to the kitchen. The Syldrathi (who was still way too tall for the flat) had bumped into one of the stone side tables Dariel had next to the kitchen while reading something over the head of Pixie on her uniglass.
Too many people in this Maker-forsaken flat.
The door to the flat opened, Blondie and Redhead slipping back inside from whatever the hell they were doing. Sarima stopped listening about halfway through.
The less she knew, the better.
Also she just didn’t care.
Dariel came in behind them, coming back from his job in the mid levels in the World Ship.
“Da lo mahkr khu amd??” she muttered, standing up and stretching. Why are we helping them again?
She was aware that at least two of them understood Betraskan (Dariel’s cousin and the redhead), but that’s still at least five people who didn’t.
“Finian ylb ma vyf Ghirli liir.” Dariel smirked. Finian owes me two favors now.
“Dloma’kee zha nu.” Should’ve said no.
“Ing Scarlett jai.” Also Scarlett’s hot.
Sarima rolled her eyes. “Keep it in your pants.”
“No way.” A new voice said from the other side of the room. It was Fawxhawk, talking to Redhead– Scarlett.
Fitting name, I suppose.
“Look, its simple.” Scarlett insisted. “Just sit and smile, let me do the talking.”
“No. Bloody. Way.”
“Come onnnnnn, roomie. This is just like old times. You and me? Two space queens on the prowl? It’ll be fun!”
“It wont’ be fun, it’ll be fu—”
“Stop being such a pessimist!” Scarlett cut Fauxhawk off.
“I’m not a pessimist, I’m a realist.” She crossed her arms.
“Well, good, because they’re rrrreal cute.”
“I see what you did there.”
“Cute.”
“No.”
“Cuuuuuuuuuuuute.” Scarlett sang, wiggling her fingers at Fawxhawk.
“Maker’s breath, I hate you so much right now, Jones…”
“This is entertaining.” Sarima smirked, leaning against the wall.
“Tell me about it.” Dariel’s cousin—Finian—said from the kitchen. “It’s like a soap opera.”
“Look, this is a two-girl mission, Cat,” Scarlett continued. “It’s not like I can bring Zila or Aurora with me. We just need to hook these guys long enough for me to swipe an ID card. Then we can access the Sempiternity security network.”
“Pump the breaks— are you lot mad?” Sari raised her eyebrows.
“Probably.” The Syldrathi nodded.
“Maybe?” Blondie shrugged.
“Most certainly.” Finian winked. “Been looking at some schematics Dariel dug up and poking around their system. They’re running the entire station on a reworked Occulus 19 grid with mimetic encryption. If we can get a leech into one of the main nodes, I reckon I could hack the camera network. We’d be able to see everything on the station. Including inside Bianchi’s luxury liner. Which means we can see where he’s keeping the…” he frowned, glancing at one of the monitors. “What are we calling this thing?
“The Watchamacallit?” Scarlett suggested. “The Doodad?” Blondie offered.
“The Trigger.” Curly—she was either Zila or Aurora—answered quietly, from where she was curled up on the couch.
Sarima had forgotten about her.
“Regardless of what it’s called— you guys have gone all loopy.” She pinched the bridge of her nose.
“Aren’t you literally a con artist?” Finian raised his eyebrows.
“Yes, but there is a line between conning the lower levels and stealing an artifact from the richest man on the World Ship.”
“We’re already off the rails, might as well go all or nothing.” he smirked.
Yep. No doubting he and Dariel were related. They both have the crazy gene.
“Why don’t you just ask miss criminal here then, Scar?” Fawxhawk—Cat—gestured to Sarima. “It’s literally her job, isn’t it? Scamming and lying to people?”
“My job is a lot more than that, Kitty.” She crossed her arms. “It requires a certain type of finesse that most lack.”
Cat nearly lunged across the room, but Blondie grabbed her back by the shoulders, halting the short woman.
“Ease off, Legionnaire Brannock.”
Sarima paused. Legionnaire?
They’re AL?
Of course they are.
“Sarima, could you help us with this?” Blondie looked at her as Cat pulled away from him, straightening.
She blew out a breath, pinching the bridge of her nose. “This is such a stupid idea, but fine.”
——————————————————————
“The way you can look like two completely different people is scary.” Scarlett quirked her eyebrows, grinning as Sarima stepped out of the bathroom. “You’ve gotta share your secrets.”
“They’re secrets for a reason,” she answered, hooking the pearled chain attached to her earring to her septum ring. It was daintier than her other ones, as that seemed to be the theme for the dress Scarlett had handed her. It was light blue, reaching down to her mid-thigh in a flowy skirt with off-the-shoulder sleeves. She went with silvery jewelry, sticking to a few rings and a dainty chain choker with heart-shaped links. Her heels were chunky white boots that gave her an extra four inches of height.
Scarlett’s outfit was nothing short of glamorous, either. It was a dark blue strapless corset dress with a large slit in the skirt that went up to her thigh. Her necklace was a gold chain, weaved and connected together like a net over her shoulders, matching the swirled earrings—the same ones she was wearing when they first bumped into each other.
Blondie—Who Sarima now knew was Tyler—looked over at them. “We booked a room at a cheap motel near the bar. Once the date is over, try and lead them back there before the…” he frowned. “What’s it called?”
“Benzothelemene. Twelve milliliters.” Zila filled in from the couch, not bothering to look up from her uniglass.
“Right. Before the Benzothelemene kicks in.” he tossed Scarlett a small vial, which she tucked into her cleavage. “We’ll be at the motel before you two.”
“See you guys after.” Scarlett winked at Dariel on the other side of the room, whose mouth had been gaping like a fish since Scarlett had gotten dressed.
The two of them exited the flat and started down the stairs.
Sarima grabbed Scarlett’s arm as they walked. “When we’re in there, my name isn’t Sarima. It’s Micha.”
She arched an eyebrow. “And what’s with the sudden name change?”
“Micha’s the name on my current ID.”
“Your current one?”
“My legitimate one is flagged for criminal activity, so I have to use my fake one. Most bars don’t scan the IDs, they just look at them, so it’ll be fine.”
“Right.” Scarlett pursed her lips. “You think they’ll end up recognizing either of us?”
“That would have to have them stop staring at your cleavage long enough to look at your face.” Sarima pushed the door of the stairwell open, and they weaved into the crowd.
“The girls are popping tonight.”
The bar was close to the stairwell, its bright neon sign flashing for attention from any passersby.
The two were annoyingly easy to spot—they were still in their security uniforms, sitting at the large bar.
“Hey, Delcan, Lachlan.” Scarlett purred, waving to catch their attention as they approached.
The men turned their attention from their drinks to the two of them, both of them already grinning.
Here we go.
“Lachlan, this is my friend Micha.” She smiled, resting a hand on Sarima’s arm as they sat down. “Micha, this is Lachlan, Delcan’s friend.”
“It’s nice to meet you.” Sarima smiled at him. Lachlan was the dark-haired one of the two men, with light brown skin and a smile that made her want to vomit.
It was only two hours.

wait there's a VOID SIDE to the network?? and you just elected not to tell the other drifters?! (what do you MEAN there's a backdoor??)
i’ve explained this before, i swear…
rigel used his connection to the void to set up the network so that persists between loops. it’s the same network HE set up so that he could stay in contact with his clanmates, he just also let us piggyback onto it cuz i was getting frustrated with the reset undoing all my hard work every loop.
so yeah, the network’s probably MOSTLY “void side”. what do you think these taufones he gave us run on? happy thoughts?? LMAO
also yeah, any good developer is going to have dev access separate from how the users access anything they make. i mean, did you guys not connect the dots? tauline? taufone? kentauruskare??? kentaurus is his and laz’s last name. he invented this whole system, he’s BASICALLY our ISP!!!!
i don’t know how the “void side” works, but he talks a lot about maintaining and guarding the strands. says it’s more like gardening than troubleshooting. things are always trying to latch on, and he’s gotta trim off the parasites and the weeds and whatever.
i guess that’s why he put himself out like he did. abandoned one vessel to focus on fighting some sorta… i dunno. metaphysical void war in his mind or whatever?
look, YOU guys are the time traveling space freaks, here, not me!! i would’ve expected this to be just… regular drifter stuff? i guess??

365: May 8
Venus' sky was a slick yellow-green. A soft rain slipped from the perpetual clouds that always seemed to cover the campus around the Ishtar Collective. It muddled Kaley's vision as she was laid on her back in the mud and grass. The rest of Glitterbomb was doing the same. All silent and still as corpses. A bird flew over them. A Venus Poppycock, that's what they were called. Technically a lizard with wings, since avians hadn't spawned from the Traveler's Light here on Venus, but everyone called it a bird. They weren't like the little flying dragonets. It was small. Only the size of a wren, or a chickadee.
"We should go, right?" Nef asked from a few feet away.
"I think I need to lay here a bit longer," Grey said.
Comms fell quiet again for a few more minutes. Behind them the massive unwinding gate was closed but hummed softly with Vex energy. The spire hung as a mocking lattice in the air off towards the cliffs, curling with potential energy.
"Anyone want to talk about it?" Archie asked.
"No," Kaley's voice said, joining everyone's chorus over comms.
There was quiet again.
"We should though," Archie said. She turned her head when he sat up. Like the rest of them he'd long since lost his regular armor amid the unbuilding of Vex construction and Reggie had had to remake it all a new out of Vex pieces. Kaley could feel every piece of her new coat and armor. She could feel the way the dead Vex reached out to connect to her Light. It didn't speak but the helmet shivered and shimmered around her head like a living thing. The Vex that Amelia had made all this from were long dead but if she listened too closely she could hear it still.
"I don't even know what to talk about," Grey said, still on the ground. "I don't even know what happened."
"Rigel, Kaley, you know anything about this?" Archie asked.
"The Vex are not my area of expertise," Rigel said, voice strangely droning, glitchy almost.
"Kaley?" Archie prodded when she wasn't forthcoming.
She looked over at Rigel laying next to her. His helmet was almost a mirror of her own, a Vex head cracked open around a glass void. His was the shape of a harpy, while her's was a goblin. He looked back at her in that unflinching facade. But she knew. He'd seen it too. They'd both seen it. Down amid the Gorgons. She'd almost gotten lost but a voice in the network had brought her back to the others. She'd just seen a Warlock against the darkness of the labyrinth, a Vex lattice around his head like a noose. She thought it had been Rigel. When she'd found the others Rigel had said she'd been followed by something the others couldn't quite see. A figure in the dark.
When little Kassy had first asked her to help her on Venus weeks ago now she'd read up on some papers about the place. Nothing by Osiris. Mostly because everyone just wrote around him and included him. There was nothing about the Vex or Venus that didn't have his thoughts trailing through and personally Kaley found Osiris' research dry, difficult, to read, and completely self important to the point it was boring. And she'd come across Pahanin and his rambling madness a Warlock had written down one time. Probably just to shut him up. But she remembered the names he'd said. Over and over like if he stopped he wouldn't remember them. That no one would remember them. Kabr, a Titan, and Praedyth the Warlock, who'd been lost in a Vault of Glass where time stretched to the ends of the cosmos in all directions, melting together into the Black Garden and the fabric of reality.
They had both seen a Warlock down in the labyrinth. And all she could think of were the ramblings of a mad man. She knew Rigel had read the same report. She knew because she'd sent it to him. They'd had a little giggle about it at the time. What foolish things Hunters could think.
He was not telling Archie.
"I study birds, Archibald. Not the Vex," she said as the silence started to stretch almost too long and turned back up to face the sky.
She was also not telling Archie.

H16H-V0L7463: i think the reason it’s got him flip flopping so much is it knows we’re on the right track H16H-V0L7463: it’s trying to throw us off so we don’t take away its shiny new toy or whatever
Broadsword: I don’t like that I yearn to help him. That chipping the paint was all it took to get me to cave.

H16H-V0L7463: i don’t wanna be too late.
Broadsword: There will be something left. Broadsword: Horrible as he is, I won’t let this bastard take him. Broadsword: Or anyone.
H16H-V0L7463: yeah. H16H-V0L7463: we might’ve missed the bus on the major, but that doesn’t mean we’ve gotta just let it have whatever it wants
Broadsword: We'll figure out a way. Broadsword: Ugh… Broadsword: Hang on. I just got done reheating leftovers. Broadsword: I'll be up in a second, okay?

Happy holidays! A few quality of life fixes that have accumulated:
Rigel's internal dialogue in intro stage now shows symbol by symbol, instead of in chunks of phrases at a time (Requires SSP 2.6.87 and up)
Poking dialogue changed to reflect Aster's overhauled shell better. Should still make sense with legacy shell!
Menu displays hotkeys hints for random dialogue. While they were always programmed in there, it felt odd not to have them pointed out.
Like one (1) grammar edit in the intro speech.
Update available both within the .nar package and through Network Update. Thank you for downloading and playing with Aster Assistant Software!

Welcome (back) to the Order of the Phoenix, Gina!
You have been accepted for the role of non-biography character AMOS DIGGORY with the faceclaim of Sam Claflin! We were intrigued by the plot possibilities you bring to the game through both Amos’ job and his motivations, and all the trouble that his best intentions might well cause for the Order he hopes to help! We also liked how you didn’t let the Diggorys’ wholesome depiction from the books get in the way of showing the darker nuances of Amos’ outlook on the magical world. We’re so happy to have you back with us!
Please take a look at the new member checklist and send in your account within 24 hours! Thank you for joining the fight against Voldemort!
OUT OF CHARACTER:
NAME: Gina
AGE: 25
TIMEZONE: MST-Arizona (or GMT-7)
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Hello! I’m glad to be applying again! Things have called down at work for the most part – especially being at home. Like before, weekends are usually best for me to catch up on everything. I’ll try to get on during the week – especially on my early days. All that being said, I’ll definitely will be able to post at least once a week! As long as writing is still fun, and doesn’t feel like a chore, I’ll be on the dash frequently (and I’ll let you know immediately about any changes)!
ANYTHING ELSE: trigger: non-con.
CHARACTER DETAILS:
NAME: Amos Diggory
AGE: 27
GENDER, PRONOUNS, and SEXUALITY: Cis-Male, He/Him, Bisexual
BLOOD STATUS: Pureblood
HOUSE ALUMNI: Hufflepuff
ANY CHANGES: N/A
CHARACTER BACKGROUND:
PERSONALITY:
Amos is a very friendly and jovial fellow. A gentleman to the core, he upholds all that the Diggorys instilled in him as a child. Well-mannered, he is a Brit – fond of food, drink, music, a full pipe, his friends and good cheer, and often greets any and all strangers from both the Wizarding and Muggle worlds. Able to charm many, Amos likes to flirt (not matter how cheesy it may come off). With the traveling for his work and care for creatures, Amos loves adventures and wandering.
BRIEF OVERVIEW OF FAMILY:
An only child can go in a few directions. Luckily, Amos took the amicable path – making his friends and schoolmates his family. His loyalty and devotion to them all is a strong bond that should not be taken lightly. While his parents passed away at a young age, Amos does not let their teachings go to waste. Above all else, Amos believes in family firmly – of all kinds. For him, family is what you build and make your own; water is not thinner than blood – pure or not.
OCCUPATION:
Employee of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures
Fresh out of school, Amos wanted to travel all across Europe to find the different magical beasts and beings he would be protecting. Therefore, he has been sifting through many of the sub-divisions of the Beast Division. Recently, he went on a trip to the Americas – particularly to see and gather more information about the behavior of various creatures since he’s seen some strange patterns in Europe. There, he used the study of the great beasts known as Thunderbirds in the wilds of Arizona as a cover. However, once word from Arthur Weasley came about a war in the Wizarding World, Amos quickly made his way back to London. Now, he is transferring to a higher position within the Werewolf Support Services in the Being Division. His goal is to become the Head of the entire department to make a good life for his family and provide when he decides to settle down.
ROLE WITHIN THE ORDER/THOUGHTS ABOUT THE ORDER:
Now back home, Amos is making his rounds to old friends and networking. Many of them have joined the Order – or family members within it. Having no siblings himself, he cares deeply for his old schoolmates and those fighting for justice. He will help in any way he can, but, behind the curtain. His heart is big and gives to many, but he also has a name to uphold and a reputation that he built himself. Amos cannot just go blindly into battle. Besides all of that, he does want to build a life with someone after the war, giving hope to others.
SURVIVAL:
Amos Diggory relies, not only on his magical skills, but also his intellect, and charm. As a member of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, Amos Diggory has a high level of knowledge regarding Magizoology. He knows how to classify many different beasts and beings, and the various laws regulating the ownership of such creatures – such as Ban on Experimental Breeding. In other words, work for their agenda without retaliation.
As for charms, Amos can produce a non-corporeal patronus charm as well as many other incantations (like the eradication spell) that make others consider him an accomplished wizard. In short, he survives because of his unique skills he offers the Ministry and not being outspoken about his opinions. While he disputes blood supremacy, he must keep his head down. For his career and future family. While with the Order, Amos hopes to become an ally within the Ministry for them. He realizes how important their work is and to have friends woven into the system.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Amos has a rather brotherly friendship with Arthur Weasley’s siblings (whom he would later become further acquainted with at the Ministry for work). Being schoolmates, the pair of gingers and Amos had fun roaming the halls and getting themselves into playful trouble. Even after Hogwarts, they continued to visit and write each other often. He then grew a friendship with Arthur with their work – then becoming familiar with Molly and (of course) the Prewett twins. In fact, Amos is rather fond of them – admiring their skills greatly. He would like to think he has a cordial relationship with them, considering he’d do anything for both of the Weasley and Prewett families. Perhaps he even has a well-hidden crush on one of the twins – or both.
As for anything romantic, Amos did have a fair crush on Andromeda Black, but knew she was bound to marry an older and successful Pureblood male, so never made it known to anyone but Arthur. Imagine Amos’ surprise when he heard about Ted! For years, he has been travelling all across Europe, and even visited many parts of the world. With that, Amos had shared a few beds (of both men and women) to ‘get it out of his system’ before his Pureblood family expects him to marry a proper Pureblood woman.
OOC EXPLORATION:
SHIPS/ANTI-SHIPS:
Ships: Amos/Chemistry Anti-Ships: None
WHAT PRIVILEGES AND BIASES DOES YOUR CHARACTER HAVE?
Being a Pureblood and a male, Amos had had few disadvantages in life and is well aware of it. He denounces blood supremacy – believing wholly that family is what you make it and anyone is worthy to study magic. He supports all students with non-magic parents to study at Hogwarts.
Working with beasts and beings, Amos wants a better world for the creatures that cannot voice for themselves. It is the non-humans and beings he has a bias towards. Those with human qualities, a voice, and can fend for themselves. Particularly, this is because of an old grudge he holds against the house-elf Tilly that abandoned him after his parent passed away at a young age.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO? Plotting & writing again – and with the tremendous writers in this RP!
PLOT DROP IDEAS:
No wife / family / Cedric yet. Amos is definitely looking to settle down though. Being from a Pureblood family, he will look at the aristocratic women in that society. For instance, a woman like Emma – although a bit older. Or the beloved Andromeda.
Something between Remus and Amos since he’s now in the department of Werewolf Support Services & something about looking at the creatures being recruited for the Death Eaters. Working with so many beasts and beings that have seen such cruelty in the world, Amos merely wants to help make it brighter for them; give them a future.
ANYTHING ELSE? Super excited to be RE-applying! 😊
EXTRA FOR NON-BIO CHARACTERS:
PAST: (trigger: death)
Honor. Dignity. Pride. A dictum of all the facets that embodied the Diggory family. Their beliefs were traditional, being a Pureblood house. Born on September 22nd, Amos Rigel Diggory grew up in a home his father constructed himself in Devon, England. With Amos as their only child, Domhnall Diggory and Isabella Tabor raised Amos with these ideals of family and devotion. Their goal was to make him a proper Pureblood aristocrat – who could manipulate any situation into his favor and even charm others as well. All to uphold the family name and blend in with the other Pureblood families – with a mask of a ‘proper gent’ in society.
Growing up in Devon, a young Amos met the Weasley brothers. Not only this, but the fertile and hills of the Shire land was also the home to the Lovegood and Fawcett families. With that, Amos quickly found his “siblings” with the family members of his neighbors. Going to school with many of them made their little adventures within the fallen Tudor towers, riverbanks, and grasslands all the better! The youthful Diggory was curious and eager for news of the outside worlds – Magical and Muggle alike. He grew fond of the various little creatures like the bowtruckles and erklings near his home. Although, his mother’s emphasis on being a ‘Pureblood Gentleman’ took his innocence away slightly. Amos was quickly carted off into playing an instrument, studying etiquette, having a fit physique, disciplining of the mind, meeting with other Pureblood families frequently, parties, seeing sports as a luxury, and (of course) good marks in school. Meanwhile, his father put an emphasis on politics – often taking him to the office, showing him card games (along with betting fellow Ministry employees and even kissing arse at times), a prejudice against non-humans (categorized as ‘beings’ in the Ministry – which are much different from beasts, of course), and an understanding of the dark arts. Amos was to be ‘the perfect Purebood prospect’ for their family.
And that he was.
Even if he incorporated his own agenda into it.
In school, raised to be the charmer that he was, Amos shined as a ‘fun and sociable’ young man. While also loyal and determined to excel in magic, Amos was sorted into the Hufflepuff house – to his absolute delight. Immediately taken to Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts, Amos wormed his way as many of the faculty’s favorite. Even if he had skipped assignments, which he would never do (from pride alone), all he had to do was flash a smile and was in the clear. Although, his favorite subjects were Care of Magical Creatures – from pure nostalgia alone – and Transfiguration. With many friends and favor of the professors, Amos had a bit of an ego. His weaknesses were a lack of humility, insecurities, and a temper that could easily get him in trouble with other classmates.
Amos’ anger surged even more after the death of his parents. First his father from an illness, and then his mother from heartbreak. It made Amos much more somber and dedicated to his schoolwork. Especially when their house-elf Tilly left him on his own. He supposed the betrayal to the family was because Amos disregarded him completely when he was home – if he was ever there. Without any aunts or uncles to turn to for help, Amos became consumed in working new jobs in London, seeing the Underground world. There, he made himself good friends with the innkeeper Tom of The Leaky Cauldron. More often than not, when Amos was not in school, he stayed there. Unfortunately, some of his friends drifted away from him and he grew to appreciate times alone, or with only a friend or so. After getting outstanding scores on his N.E.W.T.S, a Pureblood wizard, that had been friends with his father, offered him a few positions within the Ministry. With new opportunities thrust upon him, Amos felt a bit overwhelmed. He took the proper amount of time to himself, ignoring his friends even more as weeks passed by while he tried to resolve the issue himself. However, there was one thing he was certain: the occupation could not be his entire life. He did not want any future family solely revolving around his own career, his own selfish desires. If his parents taught him anything, it was that family had to be put first. Family above all else – then friends and, finally, work.
In the end, working in the Ministry seemed the most promising. With the options laid out before him, the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures seemed the most logical. He could use his skills of Magizoology, that were his top marks at Hogwarts – and rise in the ranks quickly. Not to mention that it was challenging! And Amos loves a good challenge. The work piqued his interests greatly. It was a way to use his skills, travel, and keep a stable (while sometimes dangerous) occupation. His professors were ecstatic and helped him prepare for what he would need and the up-and-coming interviews. Finally, Amos had a dream and lust for adventure.
PRESENT:
Amos has returned to England – taking up residency in his parents’ old home in Devon. However, sometimes with late nights with work, he rents out his old room in the Leaky Cauldron. Before coming back, however, he had traveled all over Europe. The job needed someone with his knowledge of creatures, and dare he say, his Pureblood bias towards non-humans as well to properly carry out the Ministry’s work. And over the years, he noticed more and more strange behavior. To see if some of the beasts in other parts of the world were acting similarly, Amos decided to get a grant from the Ministry to study out of Europe. For about eighteen months, the Beasts Division allowed him to do some of his scholarly work in the Americas. At the time, because of Muggle-wars, the non-magical world was seeing huge economic reforms and impacting how much the Wizarding world could interact and be out in the open. In short, they let him go to America because it was the only place they could afford to. Their homeland was becoming more and more integrated with Muggle turmoil. Once in the United States, Amos stayed in the wilds of Arizona. There, he used studying Thunderbirds as a cover while watching other magical creatures. Now home, he revels in the stories he holds close to his heart (somewhat even bragging to the wrong ears). All the while, their own war rages on.
Wanting a higher position, Amos has looked into the Being Division within the Ministry. Normally, because of his prejudice against non-humans, Amos would have refused. Especially since house-elves are categorized as beings. However, he has been promised a well-respected role in the Werewolf Support Services for a year. All he has to do is keep his head down and do the tasks at hand. Perhaps here, he can get more answers than his travels did. And while a few of his childhood friends continue to aid the Order, Amos cannot help but wonder in ways he can work behind the curtain. For his own peace of mind, and the devotion to those from his youth (a Hufflepuff through and through – and loyal to a fault). As such, he has given himself the task to find the creatures being recruited for the Dark Lord – and which are still unsure of what side to take. Perhaps, he can even use his charms to convince them. However, no matter what, he cannot do more than gather information…quietly. He cannot jeopardize his career or the Diggory name.
FC CHOICES: Sam Claflin, Garrett Hedlund, or Max Irons

Amir, this might sound crazy but with what I've seen so far I think I know what's happening. The one Laz got struck me at something specific. What if the reason the system is talking like this is because Some bit of Rigel's in it? Talking the only way he can right now?
i was afraid to be the one to say it... but... yeah, i think you're right...
he IS the one who maintains the , uh... "void side" of the whole setup. there's a whole underbelly to this network that i don't even touch. not cuz i won't, but cuz i CAN'T. i've tried. cannot wrap my head around it. just gives me a hell of a headache.
if anyone has access to a backdoor i don't know about, it WOULD be him.

OCCUPATION

ROLE WITHIN THE ORDER/THOUGHTS ABOUT THE ORDER
Now that he’s back home, Amos is making his rounds to old friends and networking.
SURVIVAL
RELATIONSHIPS
FABIAN PREWETT. They didn’t really meet until their sister married one of Amos’s childhood friends, although they’d known of each other all their lives, both being from proper families. Both being amiable young men, for the most part, they’d immediately gotten on well - but over Amos’s years abroad, they fell out of contact. While he’s tried to revive the relationships that withered in his absence, connection with Fabian has proved elusive, lackluster - almost as though he has something to hide.
GIDEON PREWETT. Amos might’ve met Fabian and Gideon at the same time through Arthur Weasley, but he has very separate friendships with them. While Fabian’s relationship has started to grow more distance, Gideon’s is thriving. Amos finds him sensible and stable - and likes that. The name Prewett is only good if it’s not going to hurt the Diggory reputation, after all. Amos prefers Gideon’s friendship over his brother’s and they often find time for a pint after work.
ANDROMEDA TONKS. Amos once had a rather intense crush on Andromeda Black but he knew that a woman like her was bound to marry a successful wizard from one of the top families of magical Britain, not some wet-behind-the-ears lad three years her junior mooning over her from the Hufflepuff table, so he never made his feelings known to anyone but Arthur. Imagine his surprise when he heard about Ted!
PRIVILEGES & BIASES
Being a Pureblood and a male, Amos had had few disadvantages in life and is well aware of it. He denounces blood supremacy – believing wholly that family is what you make it and anyone is worthy to study magic. He supports all students with non-magic parents to study at Hogwarts.
Working with beasts and beings, Amos wants a better world for the creatures that cannot voice for themselves. It is the non-humans and beings he has a bias towards. Those with human qualities, a voice, and can fend for themselves. Particularly, this is because of an old grudge he holds against the house-elf Tilly that abandoned him after his parents passed away at a young age.
HEADCANONS
Amos has been working since he was fifteen. Between his 5th & 6th years, Amos spent half of his summer terms working in Hogsmeade. Having a sweet tooth, and being a charming (and delightful) teen, Amos stocked the shelves at Honeydukes to help make extra coin before leaving school. Always having a lust for adventure and travel, he had a savings jar meant for seeing the world. Helping out the older shopkeepers of Ambrosius Flume and his wife always put a smile on his face. In return, he got to see some of the Wizarding world and his classmates outside of school – as well as take home a chocolate frog or a pumpkin pasty. It was only after the passing of his parents that he took on an occupation – one to fund a place to sleep, his travels, and the occasional bottle of firewhiskey. With no family to help him, Amos became consumed in the world of Underground London – getting a glimpse at how flawed their world was. And how much he needed to grow and protect himself.
There is a relatively strong bias against house-elves for Amos. After his parents’ death, Amos began spiraling. He was young and still trying to find his way in the world. He shut himself off from friends – trying to prove to himself that he could be independent. This was rooted from the fact that there were no other family members he could turn to for help. Amos was alone. Out of school, Amos isolated himself when he wasn’t working. Their house-elf, Tilly, had been loyal to the family – but could only punish himself now that his Master practically ignored him. There was no pleasing Amos. And as the young man retreated into himself, he became more and more short-tempered as the elf continuously “bothered” him with his prying and need for work. In a fit of anger, Amos yelled “leave me!” to the creature with such spite. Finding the loophole, Tilly knew there were no other family members he could pay his service to. So, he left; freed himself. To this day, Amos thinks of it nothing more than abandonment and betrayal. If he ever thinks on it. Now, his bias make him simply ignore the beings – even when his work calls for it.
With a career path lined up and on track, Amos is looking to find the right Pureblood witch and settle down. While Amos defines himself as bisexual – having found a warm bed with both males and females during his travels – his upbringing forbids him to do anything more. Even if he were to fall in love with someone of the same sex, his Pureblood names dictates that he must find himself a promising witch that is pure of blood. But it doesn’t mean he can’t have a little bit of fun before tying the knot. In the end, he knows there is a deep desire for family again. No matter what, his affiliation with the Order cannot get in the way of that dream, his name, or his work within the Ministry.

365: May 9
It always seemed to be raining on Venus here on the coast. The sound of Vex buzzed in Kaley's mind as she stood at the edge of solid ground looking out over the deep teal sea. In the distance she watched the neon blue lava slide down the face of a far off volcano. It'd be so easy just to fall into the sea.
Boots squelched mud and came to stand next to her. She could feel the harmonic signature of Rigel's helmet against her own. She didn't look at him but she could feel him. Her armor could feel him just like she could feel the others. The Vex were all dead but even in death the network flowed through their bodies.
"Can we talk?" he asked her privately.
"There's nothing to talk about," she said, voice devoid of emotion.
"I don't want to talk about that," he said. "I want to talk about something else."
They stood in silence for a moment except for the sound of the waves below, eating away at the limestone cliff side slowly. A steady march of time of centuries that had slowly worn away the coast line after a dramatic fault quake decades ago had caused half of the Collective to sink into the sea. "About what?" she asked.
The harmonic signature changed. She looked over as Rigel removed his helmet made of a split harpy. No. Not a harpy. A Gorgon, its long trailing tendrils still behind it like imitations of limbs. She could remember the sound one had made when Kass had put her Golden Gun in it's eye and fired it fifteen times and it finally died, killing it in every timeline that mattered. She'd been so cold and cutting in there, like the edge of a blade, a cruel imitation of the girl who always smiled when she spoke.
Rain splattered across his orange and sapphire face, ultramarine eyes bright, searching. For what?
"What did you want to talk about?" Kaley asked, not removing her helmet but switching to speakers to keep their conversation off the air waves. It was more private like this. The others wouldn't hear them.
His eyes moved and for a moment he was at a loss for words. Funny. He always had to have the last one in a conversation. "This isn't to talk about it," he started, "but what was in there..." he paused, rolling the words around in his metal mouth trying to find them. "A thousand deaths I regretted every time," he continued.
"Regret what?" she asked quietly. "Following us into that horrible place?"
"No," which surprised her. "You're my friends. I would have hated myself if you were lost in time and I hadn't been there to help." That softened her. Rigel was such a... prickly person in the lightest terms. But as soon as she and Grey had given him the verbal whipping of his life for trying to take advantage of 'Simone' by offering a meeting with the Queen in exchange for an absurd amount of work and glimmer, he'd rolled belly up and apologized. But he did know more about the Vex than he let on which is why Kass let him hang around and become friends with them. Kaley didn't always like him but after what they'd just done... been witness to, she trusted him. Trusted him more than any other Warlock she'd ever met honestly. Prickly jerk or not she knew he'd watch her back. Just like she trusted everyone else. Seemed he felt the same way. An interesting change of character from him honestly. Even as friends he was always in it for himself.
"I just--" this pause was... shy? It was hard to tell with an EXO. He looked away, up at the yellow sky, rocking slightly on his heels. "Did you know I named my Ghost?" he asked her instead, his deep blue eyes meeting her helmet again.
"No. You did?" It was the first she'd heard. He'd never named his Ghost. Kass' Ghost name was Ghost but this was different. Rigel just didn't care enough. It always had... annoyed her.
"Yeah," he held out his hand and his Ghost teleported over his palm. She was shaped almost like a Nemesis helm, winged on the sides, and had recently been shaded purple. Almost the same color as Kaley's hair. "This... is Bird," his voice shimmered with static like a tremor in his voice.
"Bird?" Kaley asked. She didn't understand. "Why Bird?" It seemed so random and Rigel did not do things without consideration and intent.
"Well I know you like birds, a lot," he said, simulant voice still stuttering like an almost skipping sound clip. "And I... well," he rubbed the back of his neck and wiped some of the rain off the dome of his metal skull.
"Yes, they're my field of research," she said.
"He thought maybe you'd show interest in him if he had a bird too," Bird said in her sweet little voice Kaley was familiar with.
Kaley stared at him through her helmet. Rain continued to ping off his orange painted skull and he wouldn't look at her. It was bashful. It was a strange look on him but... endearing. "I see," she said. She held out her hand but not like how you would for a Ghost to perch but rather a bird. Bird shivered her nemesis wings and floated over to hover above Kaley's finger. "I have never seen a bird like this. It's very unique, you know?" she said nicely and gently fondled one of Bird's side wings making her giggle like she was being tickled. Rigel was half looking at her. "Are you a song bird or-
Kaley laughed when Bird played a City pop song out of her speaker. It felt like the first time she'd laughed in weeks. The first time she'd laughed since entering the Vault where time meant absolutely nothing. "Oh I'm definitely a song bird!" Bird said brightly, playing the romantic pop song cheerfully. "Do you like this song? Or maybe this one," and she played something else.
"This is more our style," Amelia told Bird and played one of Kaley's favorite songs over her own speaker. It was a Golden Age song sung as a duet. Kaley and Amelia often sung it together, trading the lines. Despite being a duet it wasn't romantic, it was just a nice song. Bird immediately picked it up and played it with Amelia. When the vocals broke each Ghost independently decided which voice they'd play and played the song as a duet themselves. When the song ended both Ghosts flew around Kaley's head. She smiled and it was the first time since she'd entered the Vault. It had felt like forever.
Rigel was looking at her with an expression she'd never seen. Rain water dripped off his face and ran across his glowing eyes. "She's an excellent song bird for sure," Kaley said, her smile even affecting her voice.
Bird flew over to Rigel and bonked him on the head, "Say something stupid. You look like a fool," she said, almost scolding.
"Willyougotodinnerwithme," he blurted out before his voice box glitched like a thumped speaker.
"What?" she asked, she hadn't understood him at all. EXOs could really ramp up their speaking speed and he'd really just spat it out.
Rigel cleared his throat, or made an imitating noise of it. "Once we get back to Earth," he said, "would you... like to go out to dinner with me?" his voice was nervous but hopeful at the end, rising in pitch slightly.
This wasn't the first time he'd asked her out on a date. But the time previous he'd just been a little too creepy about it. She knew he had a preference for Awoken girls that bordered a fetish (or maybe was just one and she was fooling herself) and that always made her wary. She had immediately turned him down because of it. But now? After what they'd done, seen? She trusted him. Just like she trusted everyone else. Rigel wrung his hands like he was about to rip his fingers off; waiting for the rejection she'd given him the last time he'd asked. Back when they barely knew each other.
"What did you regret?" she asked him. "When you died in there. You said you had a thousand regrets."
He looked away again. It was a shy look. "Well- um..."
Bird made a loud annoyed sound. "Kaley, he's useless sometimes," she told her.
Kaley giggled. "I don't know. He's been dependable so far," she said.
"It was a thousand regrets that you'd never know how I felt," Rigel said and Kaley saw some of the vents along his neck slide open, venting hot air. About as close to 'flustered' as an EXO could get. "I know we didn't get off on the best of terms but... I really like you," he said awkwardly.
"Because I'm Awoken-
"No," he said quickly. "Sorry-- it's hard being alone all the time. But- no. No. I think you're so smart and kind and sometimes a little fucking scary but in a good way? Like when you went Radiant and turned the entire floor of the Templar into plasma with solar grenades? That was so cool and if I'd been a Vex I'd have felt real fear." That had been pretty cool but also would have been impossible without Kass. Her body had been shoved full of so much Light it had nearly torn her apart and all she could do was throw grenades so she didn't vomit in her helmet. "And I promised myself if we made it out of that place in one piece I'd-- I'd ask you to dinner," he stammered. "Because I couldn't live with myself if you didn't know."
She softened and after a moment took off her helmet. The rain pattered against her plum colored hair and drops clung to her cheeks and ran down her chin. She wanted him to see her face. Honestly after everything and then Bird and then the sweetest confession she'd ever heard she thought so fondly of him. She'd been desired before, adored even and absolutely fetishised for being Awoken by past partners. But this was much sweeter. She believed him when he said he was past that and also that he was too scared of her to put her in a box like that.
She smiled at him and his illuminated eyes were cautiously optimistic. She could just tell by the way they moved. "I'd love to go to dinner with you," she said.
For a second he looked about to faint but managed to avoid it. "I- great! Yes that's great. We should probably go talk with the others. See how they're doing. We should get off this fucking planet."
"I couldn't agree more," she said and when he turned to head back towards the closed door of the Vault and their friends she followed him in step.

Sonya’s Timeline: Biding Time in Zofia
After a year of running with fear in Rigel, Sonya could finally rest somewhat easily, south from the man she feared. Now in a new part of the continent, she knew from the start that she needed to abandon her old life and begin to adapt. Obviously she had no connections in Zofia, so sticking to the street alleys was already the only option. It was fortunate she already held some expertise from her previous years hiding in Rigel.
Like before, here is a map of the Zofian part of Valentia for reference. Take note of the two fortresses in the upper right (Grieth’s hideout), as that is the main setting of this headcanon, as that is directly where Sonya crossed the Rigelian border.
Some might remember the area as a barren desert wasteland. However, this change in the land was after Mila was sealed away in Valentia Year 398. Beforehand, the land was fertile and bountiful, the perfect location for trade between a network of villages. This was definitely the best place Sonya could of ended up, as it would be easy to profit off of the commotion between towns.
Before anything else, the young woman knew that survival came first. She needed a place to stay and food. While the former was impossible for a young, foreign female to achieve, both concerns could be easily answered with the collection of money. How would she get the money? Thievery, odd jobs, and dueling.
Not being one to raid trade parties while they were on the move, most of what she stole came from pick-pocketing, similar to Rigel. It was even easier to perform on the less-suspecting Zofian people, especially while Sonya was in her youth. She could just act like a lost, innocent girl who has lost her parents and run off with a few marks after passing by some citizens.
Of course, constantly stealing would increase her risk of being found out, so Sonya had to plan out a route. For some time, usually a few weeks to months, she would sneak around one village to possibly earn some easy cash and even sleep on a real bed once in a while. After she did enough pick-pocketing, she would travel on toward the next town to repeat the cycle. The mage continued this migration in a circular pattern and by the time she would return to a previously-visited village, they didn’t even recognize her.
Travelling between the safety of villages proved to be a hurdle. Making the journey alone provided the chance of being ambushed by a band of thieves, who would take special fancy for a seemingly-defenseless girl. Of course Sonya could handle herself, but she preferred to avoid pointless attention when possible. Trade caravans were the best answer, yet getting approved was a challenge of its own. Most could be bribed with enough coin, and at times her magical ability proved more than sufficient to convince some to keep her around for protection.
Rarely, however, Sonya would have to offer herself as payment for the trip. She was already aware of the beauty she possessed, inherited from Marla and perhaps even her mother. In her older years it became easier and easier to convince men to take her along through seduction, which she got better and better at through practice. She would promise the leader of the caravan a “reward” for moving her across, and all she had to do when they arrived was run off into the nearest dark alley, those of which she was accustomed to from living in the area for a long time. If she was unable to shake off men, the only option would usually end up being elimination.
While not a fully-fledged mercenary, Sonya would always look out for job offerings anywhere she went. It never mattered who the target was or if she had to kill, training was training. Still set on extracting her revenge someday, she had to make sure she was on top of her skills in any way she could. Additionally, a decent pay made any task worth it.
Another way for her to gain more experience was underground dueling. Although never devoting to major trading-raids, Sonya was unofficially a part of the bandit network surrounding the village area. It was never difficult to sniff out where the ruffians were hiding in a town, being one herself. It assisted in informing her about the general area of Zofia like the rumors she overheard in Rigel, as well as learning about stronger rogues out there. From there, the mage would scout out their location and negotiate with these big-shots.
While at some instances this would involve trading of information and goods or a temporary neutrality alliance, she would usually challenge the other to a duel. A majority of the time she would just request money, as the reward was never the main concern for her. The battles were usually a cakewalk, as they would always be overwhelmed by her magic. Before crushing them, she would try out some of her sword techniques first, both to surprise the other when she did mix in magic as well as get better in multiple fields.
-
After years and years of this same routine, Valentia Year 398 comes along and the land begins to die off. Along with the land went most of the people, abandoning their failed harvests in hope of better luck in the south. Meanwhile Sonya did not join them, as she had never left the area due to having everything she wanted. Furthermore, an instinct refused her to move anywhere south, further away from the target she swore to destroy.
With the villagers gone the desert land became a safe haven for thieves, who turned some of the buildings into bases and strongholds. One of these men was Grieth, whose name Sonya has heard previously yet never met in person. Having nowhere else to go, she decided to see if this bandit could offer anything of value.
Grieth was immediately pleased by the magic capabilities that Sonya showed off. After some thinking, he offered the woman a home in the desert as long as she remained his subordinate. Too delighted at the idea of being welcome somewhere, Sonya quickly obliged, unaware of any of the despair that was about to plague her.
