New ttrpg character for @bodbdearg ‘s superhero campaign.

Her name is Dr. Roxie Gavino, an engineer scientist and I’m mentally ill over her.

After our last session I’ve quickly become obsessed with her younger superhero sibling Event Horizon as well, meaning I had to do childhood doodles,,

The two of them make me sick; they haven’t spoken in years but now they’re working together,, but things aren’t the same as they used to be,, on top of the fact she has a secret robot child which is a whole thing in itself

M3GAN (2022)

😿Dog Dies 💁‍♀️💁‍♀️(💁‍♀️) Strong Female Lead(s)

When this movie first came out I wasn’t very interested because “Annabelle” was lackluster, but then I heard “M3GAN” was good and by GOD I was not let down (Also this is not like “Annabelle,” it has a doll but that is about all the comparison that you can make). A thoughtful and thorough sci-fi robo-horror which is set in the not-so-distant future (if it isn’t already happening and I’m just not rich enough to know about it). Some good camp included with M3GAN herself galloping through the woods and dancing down the halls but also some good scares too. Well rounded film, would watch again and recommend.

The only questionable thing happens right away and it’s that those little tinkering nerds were able to sneak making this high tech robot for thousands of dollars without their boss knowing. I absolutely call shenanigans. I'll believe that the boss wasn’t paying attention to them, sure, but I’ll bet he had his eyes on the money they were spending. That aside, M3GAN is made as a toy for children, which, I mean, an expensive robot doll like that is going to be made for adults for either two reasons, war or sex (or both!), but THAT aside... M3GAN is a toy just for kids and she is going to protect Cady, who is the niece of one of the nerds (Gemma).

The tinkering nerds built M3GAN to learn and keep learning (apparently one of the things she learned is how to turn herself on again after being turned off, damn girl) so she can best care for Cady but this starts to take a dark turn when Gemma is a little to vague in her commands. It's almost like the doll was waiting for an opportunity to push the boundaries because it only takes a boy pressing a chestnut prickly casing into Cady's hand for M3GAN to go completely feral. I'm talking down on all fours, horse galloping sound effects (I chortled)... She might have overreacted by pulling his ear and showing him exactly how Cady’s parents died…

It is important to note the neighbor and her dog that inexplicably went missing after the dog bit Cady. The neighbor reported that the doll would stare out the window at them at 3am but I’m sure M3GAN had nothing to do with it (she had something to do with it). Finally we get to the unveiling where everyone is totally on board with this doll and no one wants it for the other two things Americans love so it’s still going to be a toy for kids but M3GAN is feeling more like a WMD at the moment. She hacked the system and some people then escaped back to Cady but Cady didn’t want her murderer ass anymore.

Now, when Cady turned on M3GAN, M3GAN snapped, ignored her programming, called Cady ungrateful, and was MAD. M3GAN tried to kill the one she had previously “loved” and was previously going to protect because Cady tried to kill HER. That felt so realistic, because M3GAN wouldn’t have human empathy in the end for Cady, she would just be looking out for herself, she is a robot. I really appreciated that they didn’t make her still love Cady.

Finally we have their universe's smart home pod light up at the end and it feels right because M3GAN had already been messing with the smart house setup throughout the movie so of COURSE she is still in the Cloud! Really a great movie and a lot of fun to watch, hope 2.0 builds off of this momentum!

Mini-review:

The best thing about this animated anthology is that the thematic has no real limit: the creative teams involved can basically do whatever they want. Over the years, some of the shorts have worked better than others. But I think this is the first season where I didn't outright dislike any of the episodes. All of them are fun and imaginative in one way or another. The standout, as expected, is Robert Valley's 400 Boys; his aesthetic remains unmatched. Other particularly remarkable episodes are Diego Porral's How Zeke Got Religion (amazing creature design) and Jennifer Yuh Nelson's Spider Rose (really tugged at my heartstrings). Anyway, I hope we get more seasons of Love, Death + Robots.

Finally made a banner for Project C.O.W. What I'm mainly aiming for in terms of this project is 2 (maybe 3) rpgs that explore this little world I've been developing for awhile that takes place in a series of caverns called The Tangle. If it isn't obvious now, this project is heavily influenced from the Biopunk genre (stuff like Bioshock, Akira, etc.). With the characters and world I've created, I want to tell a story about unconventional ways of reaching maturity that relate to moments in my own life. With that said, I still want to make characters, stories, and gameplay that people fall in love with. If I can pull that off with my creations, then I think I've done enough for my dreams to become reality ^^

he's an alien, with the title (either given to him or self-styled) 'Ruler of the Galaxy and Nightmare to Humanity'

according to the intro, he's either been attempting to invade humanity for many years, or he is the descendant of an alien race which has been doing so since 'the dawn of time'

his goal is to become the 'Grand Imperial Emperor and Most Extreme Bearer of Awesomeness Who Has Lots of Friends and Never Has to Hang Out Alone'...of Earth. so we can guess he's a pretty lonely guy 😭💔

Hank and Ronny (the Shred Force boys) and Molox (the greatest rock gods in history) are familiar with Nordic Bunny and have clearly foiled his plans many times before

his headquarters may well be an entire planet, which looks like a terrifying, spiky, robotic fortress

he's either extremely technically proficient and creates a great deal of evil inventions, or he has a very subservient workforce (his minions) to do this for him

he regularly destroys his minions, who seem to be clones/virtually identical to one another, possibly sharing a hivemind

he seems to resent humanity for some specific reason, as he sends forth his crab army to 'have fun at everyone else's expense'

his vendetta against the Shred Force is personal 👀

What color are Ron's eyes? I always draw them as green, but I know there are varying opinions on the matter.

Also, does his modded(?) Fake(?) Robot(?) Eye look different?

Ronnie doesn't have a different eye though, only a scar over it. Dee however has anisocoria (like David Bowie) although it's not that obvious in his more realistic poster render

Uh- Here they are !!! At some point I decided to give the boys some more members (kind of...). These are only concepts too I will defo redesign them ^^'

The first is the third band member we see in the pilot. At first I thought his name was Locust (like the bug), but someone on the disc said his name sounded like Lucas, so hes Lucas now.

The second is a full Oc- Aka Samantha/Sam

-Lucas came to my mind first. Like given how Mollox looks it was pretty obvious he would have been a potential hero member if the show got picked up, so I HAD do give him a design.

-He has a skull motif, because of the original thought of his name being Locust (and they're usually associated with plagues... And plague causes death... You catch my drift). And I did add the same robot arms the Mollox drummer has, but he also has it in his costume. I wanna redesign him at some point cuz I'm still not 100% with the design

-I also want to tweak his colours at some point cuz like I wanted It to be green, but Hank is also green (technically a neon yellow bit fuck that, that's green)

-I imagine he can summon giant drum shields or maybe even sort of bombing based abilities. Like he uses the beat of the drum to basically make explosions.

-I also posed him poorly, but he is supposed to have a spiky mohawk 😭😭

-Samantha came after, cuz I felt like the team would be rounded out with a keyboard (and I personally like rock songs with piano so sue me)

-She has a wing motif. When I was looking up what kind of themes to give these two I realized Hank and Ronnie both have motifs that are common in rock imagery (fire and lightning) so I basically went to Google images and both skulls and wings appeared the most next to the first two, so they got that

-The rollerblades are only there cuz I had the idea she can summon like piano ramps that, when she slides over, make noise as if you went over the piano keys with your finger. With the belts the kind of resemble sandals and with the wings it kind of nods to Hermes. Her hair is also supposed to be wing-ish

-I also thought of maybe her keyboard can split to form wings on her back, with the keys kind of looking like wings. I do want to redesign her keyboard it just looks to plain to me, but it's so hard to styalize a keyboard.

I have a lot more ideas about their personalities and how they'd interact and join the boys

It's slowly taking shape, mostly because you keep asking for it 🫶🏼 So thank you! Not much bashing is going on in this part, but I do have an idea for a joint therapy session for Buck and Eddie in the works 👀 For now, here are 650 more words continuing from this.

“Val, is there any way you can land or pull him in?” Nichols asks.

“There’s too much tension on the line and he’s lower than the landing gear, so he would hit the ground if we tried to land. Neither option works,” Val replied. 

Nichols opened his mouth to respond when Buck got an idea. 

“Hey Val, how slow can the pilot get without stalling?”

And that’s how Buck and Eddie find themselves on top of a firetruck and successfully unclipping Stefan from his parachute. It had been an admittedly crazy idea when Buck mentioned it, and he was surprised that Nichols had signed on to the idea. Once they were back on the ground and had loaded him into the back of the ambulance, Buck headed over to where Val just finished giving her statement. 

“Oh my god, you’re insane! I can’t believe that worked,” Val said as she watched him approach. 

Buck just laughed, “I can’t really believe it either, but I’m glad Stefan is going to be okay.”

“No thanks to those two idiots. I should not speak ill of our clients, but the survival skills on the daughter are nonexistent, I swear,” Val leaned in to whisper conspiratorially. 

Buck just wrapped an arm around her shoulders as he shook his head with a smile, “God I have missed you.”

“Feelings mutual Bucko. But I gotta say, Ronnie’s doing really well. You may have to fight her for the top slot on my favorite partners ranking,” Val teased. 

“I’m telling Rusty you said that,” Buck said which earned him a pinch on the side. 

He was about to retaliate when he heard Nichols call out for him. So, he turned back to Val to say goodbye with a promise to hang out soon. When he gets over to Nichols, he sees the man isn’t showing any emotion. Per usual. It has been an interesting transition so far. He wasn’t sure what to make of the man yet. But he was good at his job, even if he wasn’t the most expressive or hands-on captain. 

“Yes, sir?” he asks as he gets in front of Nichols. 

“I’m going to have you fill out the after action reports on this call since it was your idea to pull that stunt. Plus it’ll be good practice,” Nichols stated gruffly. 

“O-ok I can do that. I thought you were on board with the plan, would you have done it some other way?” Buck asks, worrying he’s overstepped with Nichols. It’s always hard to tell, since the guy had so far proven himself to be a robot most days when it came to his feelings.

“I don’t believe in rehashing past calls, Buckley. Just get the reports to me by the end of shift,” Nichols all but dismissed him. 

Not sure why he couldn’t let it go he apologized and explained, “I was just trying to make sure if I made a mistake that I could learn from it so I don’t repeat it.”

Nichols sighed, a reaction for once, as he said, “Look, I know Bobby promised you that I was going to mentor you and help you make it to Captain. But I only have 2 years left before I retire. I am not going to get in your way, but don’t expect me to hold your hand. I wouldn’t have said yes to this if it hadn’t meant being able to stay at one station to finish my career.”

Buck didn’t know what to say to that. He had no idea why Nichols was so against the idea of giving him some pointers. He wondered if Nichols had something against him personally or if it was just his general demeanor, but that was a question for Bobby at some other time. For now, he turned back to the scene and tried not to let the team see his concern.
