I don't believe your claim that you're "non-binary" anymore than I believe a Xian's claim that they're a "covered by the blood of Jesus."
If it was the 90s, you'd be "goth." If it was the 00s, you'd be "emo."
They said they were literally the spawn of Satan. They said they didn't care about anything and nothing mattered to them. They said it was a permanent part of their personality. Now they're driving SUVs full of kids and worrying about interest rates and inflation.
It's not an "identity," it's a faddish subculture of conformity that was already cliché and passé when it started.

In Kenya, Martial Eagles Hunt Lion Cubs For Lunch
Martial eagles, with wingspans that can exceed six feet, can take out young impalas or gazelles. Recently, researchers have seen them targeting another species’ young.

In December 2012, tour guides in Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve witnessed a series of killings targeting one of the savannah’s top predators. An adult martial eagle followed a pride of lions for weeks, waiting for the right time to swoop in and kill three cubs in total.
“This is an eagle really looking at these lions and thinking, ‘I’m going to systematically hunt these lions,’” says R. Stratton Hatfield, a Ph.D. candidate at Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands.
Tumblr media
A Juvenile Martial Eagle snatched this three-week-old lion cub on March 15, 2019, in the Mara North Conservancy, Kenya. No one saw the bird kill the cub. Based on the fledgling eagle's behavior, researchers suspect that an adult female gave the cub to the fledgling. Photograph By Jes Lefcourt
While the supposed kings of the jungle may dominate the land around them, this incident and others like it show that African lions (Panthera leo) may not always sit on top of the food chain when it comes to the skies. In fact, martial eagles (Polemaetus bellicosus) likely prey on lion cubs when the opportunity arises, Hatfield and his colleagues recently reported in Ecology and Evolution.
“It’s really a testament to the predatory nature of martial eagles,” Hatfield says.
Queen of the Skies
Martial eagles’ wingspans can exceed six feet. Adult females weigh more than 10 pounds, while adult males typically weigh around seven pounds. Though comparable in size and ecology to golden eagles, the species often kills larger prey. The birds swoop in and dig their razor-like talons into their prey’s spine at the back of their skull, sometimes taking out young impalas or gazelles far above their weight class. “[Their talons] are just massive killing utensils,” Hatfield says. “From a predator perspective, they are impressive in what they’re able to do.”
Hatfield’s team only recently realized the birds also preyed on other predators. The team collected seven records, including the 2012 incident, that describe martial eagles preying on lion cubs, resulting in the deaths of nine cubs and one near miss. Most of these episodes probably involve larger females, Hatfield suspects, though two records included juveniles preying on cubs.
The earliest case comes from 2008, when a photographer captured an image of an eagle feeding on a freshly killed cub, while the most recent was in 2023, when a safari guide saw a juvenile eagle hunt and kill a cub large enough that the raptor couldn’t fly off with it.
Risk Versus Reward
Despite their aerial antics, martial eagles are typically risk averse. “When they go to take a lion cub, it’s with a lot of recognition of the risks,” Hatfield says. But not all records seem to show this careful calculation.
In the one failed killing, a martial eagle swoops in to snatch a six-week-old cub right next to its mother. The lioness spots the approaching danger, and “literally leaps in the air to try to take the martial out of the sky,” Hatfield describes. “You can just see the lioness’s eyes lock onto something, then she crouches and launches.”
The eagle dodged the counterattack, and didn’t get the cub, but the whole maneuver “was just stupid.” Hatfield speculates that the raptor didn’t see the lioness. Episodes like this are so dangerous for the eagle, “you wonder if they are doing something ever just for fun,” he says.
Amy Dickman, a conservation biologist at Oxford University in the U.K., isn’t surprised that eagles will go after cubs again and again if the strategy proves successful. She also leads Lion Landscapes, a nonprofit focused on coexistence of humans and wildlife in Kenya and Tanzania, and says the conclusions of Hatfield’s team “seem sound.”
As far as the lions are concerned, “it’s just another kind of risk that lions have to deal with,” Dickman says, like predation from hyenas or male lions from competing prides. While she doesn’t think the eagles pose a conservation threat to the big cats, an individual pride in a given area might feel pressure if a martial eagle has honed in on their cubs as a food source. “It shows you how interesting and diverse the natural world is,” Dickman says.
Predators or Prey?
Martial eagles aren’t picky when it comes to big cats. Some have taken cheetah and leopard kittens, as well. Hatfield also notes the risk probably goes both ways—lions could and probably have hunted adult eagles or nests. At least one YouTube video shows a leopard killing a martial eagle.
“The relationships between top predators at the top of the [food] pyramid are complicated,” Hatfield says.
Martial eagles are considered endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and Hatfield hopes that studies like this bring more attention to their plight. Like other large raptors in Africa, the species faces habitat loss, poaching for parts, electrocution on power lines and persecution.
“We are all so focused on the elephant and lion and rhino,” Hatfield says. “A lot of these big eagles and vultures are going to go extinct right in front of our eyes.”

CLONE X OC WEEK
DAY 2: QUALITY TIME
Ya girl is a bit early today - college calls, and I need to go to bed early tonight. But... why not indulge in some cute clone content before I sleep? ;) And even better, I get to spotlight some of my favorite artists who've drawn Juntech before as well!
As usual, here are some important links:
Juno's bio website
Juntech informational hub (outdated!)
And the tag! @clonexocweek
Without further ado, here's todays content!
What does 'quality time' look like for Tech and Juno?
For two braniacs of similar prestige, Tech and Juno have a lot of ways they like to spend time together. But quality time for them isn't always just working on shared projects!... Even if that's something they enjoy doing to wind down. No, Tech and Juno have multiple ways of sharing each others space...
Museum hopping
Tumblr media
Art by my beloved @cloned-eyes
It makes perfect sense that two nerds would enjoy such activities - a perfect excuse to be in eachothers company, AND one where they can engage their minds? Museum's are a favorite place for Juno and Tech to visit whenever they stumble upon civilized planets, and they always make an excuse to take a "Rsearch venture" to the local museum, if possible. But the trips to the museum do more than just give them an excuse to be learning on-the-go; there's quite a bit to be said about how such an excursion is made even more enjoyable by having the right company around. Tech and Juno adore being able to have an excuse to just... talk to one another about their interests. Not that they needed one beforehand, but being surrounded by so much intrigue prompts discussion, and they indulge hours of informational exchange - and cute comments sprinkled in, where Juno will compare Tech to a particularly strange bug, and Tech will feel his cheeks flare a bit.
Tumblr media
Shared invention
Tumblr media
Art by my perfect @echojedis
Working together on shared projects might seem like a chore, but to these two, it's something they adore. Being able to throw themselves into invention and work together offers them great alone time, and keeps them engaged and constantly bouncing around better and better ideas together. Tech is happy to have someone so invested in building like he is, and Juno is happy to be able to assist however she can - even if her expertise lies more in science and experimentation than it does engineering and assembly. Tech uses this time to actually teach Juno how to be a better and more informed engineer, which has already proved to pay off, as Juno is rapidly growing more and more fluent in the art of inventions and design - and she's already capable of keeping up with Tech. And Tech? Well, he feels adored just having someone around who cares enough to learn.
Tumblr media
Discussions... long, long discussions
Tumblr media
MORE @echojedis ART
What did you expect out of the two chattiest people around? It seems fitting that the other has finally met their verbal match, as Juno and Tech love to talk. Either jumps at the excuse to continue in-depth discussion about various topics of interest - astral engineering, planetary biology, diversity between biological fauna, you name it. These two will never shut up. Crosshair wants to kick them both in the mouth for how often they keep him up at night, chattering away like two eager birds. But nobody has the heart to stop them - this is the first time in their lives they've had someone else willingly engage in thoughtful dialouge with them about their interests. Who wouldn't want to spend hours talking with their favorite person?
Tumblr media
Sleep
Tumblr media
Art by bloodbroox
Sleep is a touchy thing for Juno, who has never allowed herself to sleep near another living soul. During missions, she'd stay up all night keeping watch, using it as an excuse to never fall into the vulnerable state of sleep - and this was a habit she intended to continue abiding by... until Tech showed up. Tech figured out pretty quickly that the level of vulnerability and saftey sleep required made it something Juno rarely sought out, to the point it was affected her abilities. So? Under the guise of research and improved efficiency, Tech suggested they start napping together. (linked is a fic, if you want a detailed read of how it happened. ;))
And it didn't just work. Juno became addicted to the feeling of another warm body, and soon, she became dependent on needing Tech around to sleep properly.
Tech is more than happy to accomodate - he can sleep anywhere at any time, and it just seemed logical to help Juno break her clans destructive habits and embrace sleep. It's a test of trust, one of their unbreakable bond, and Juno tests that trust every day whenever she sleeps with Tech... and Tech has no intention of breaking that promise to keep her safe.

Hello everyone,
For this last week I’d like to present one of my secondary sources, which is a psychological study on Billie Eilish’s music that sheds light on how her songs resonate with the mental health struggles, especially of today’s youth. I’ve really enjoyed reading that one, even if you are not familiar with the artist it easily presents an interesting study of her art but also of psychology.
The research uses Freudian psychoanalysis to explore the themes, lyrics, and even the visual storytelling of her work. The authors argued that her music goes beyond a personal storytelling to reflect broader social issues like loneliness, alienation or even grief. What’s striking is how these themes are not just relatable but also a massive symbol, representing a collective mental state of many young people today, which was initially part of my final theme
One of the studied theme how her songs often incorporate metaphors for depression. The study examines tracks like 'everything i wanted' and 'idontwannabeyouanymore' and identifies the key symbols of helplessness and internal conflict in general.
In “everything i wanted,” the artist grapples with feelings of worthlessness and disconnection, despite her huge success, which captures the paradox many young people might feel in a hyper-competitive world. The lyrics “If I could change the way that you see yourself / You wouldn’t wonder why you hear they don’t deserve you” reflect not just a longing for acceptance but also the pressure she undergoes to mask vulnerability. Those songs are an emotional tug-of-war that can be felt both personally and universally, a major theme that the study notices as a marker of her artistic skills.
An even more compelling element is the way the study ties her soundscapes to these emotional narratives, Billie’s sparse arrangements and her whispered vocals that create an atmosphere of a suffocating introspection, erasing the barrier that separated us from the ‘outside’.  The rsearch notes how the minimalist productions evoked the feeling of being trapped within one’s own mind, that can be silent yet overwhelming. Her music (according to the study) isn’t just a reflection of depression; it immerses the listener in its whole experience. This creates cathartic an unsettling space at the same time. Finally, the study argues that this is the reason her music has become an anthem for those navigating the complex and isolated realities of youth in today’s world. And when listening to any kind of song that shares the same psychological features, I’d always wonder if this art was simply reflective, or is was offered as a way to cope, if the artist found a way to embrace chaos through music. Anyway I’m surprisingly not a huge fan of the artist, but I’ve always had a lot of respect for her artistic genius (esp. considering how young she was at the beginning), for her being able to crush my mind with concise and minimalist phrases, and the way she knows how to perfectly sing any word to reach straight into one’s vulnerability

I am 95% sure i have APD and i have no idea how to deal with it!! If you have any advice, please do tell. Giving you a platonic smooch on the hand.
auditory processing disorder, hmm.. as always i recommend researching it yourself for your symptoms and their severity and loon for what type of things may benefit you the most! depending on the severity, you might find something like auditory training, hearing aids, or listening devices to be helpful. otherwise, finding a way to cut down on background noise (ear plugs or headphones for example, or turning off and muffling other sources of noise in your environment) or asking people to speak slower/clearer/repeat themselves might help as well! if youre still having trouble understanding something like spoken instructions you could aslo ask people to write them down for you. and, sadly sometimes the subtitles on many videos are not great, but ideally it may help to watch whatever you usually tend to watch but with the subtitles on! but like i said, rsearch this yourself as well and try to find what will work best for you. and dont be afraid to explain your difficulties to other people and ask for help if needed!

politics are stressing and in a way, you can't trust anyone. and I also believe it will change neither you or my mind, it will be just an echo chamber which will turn toxic(?) soon. however im still doing my rsearch in my off times

According to Purgatorio of The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, the three worst, and likely most powerful sins are Wrath (3rd), Envy (2nd) and Pride (1st), and I wonder if that will be relevant in Hellaverse. Pride makes sense because Lucifer is at charge, Satan is often depicted as the strongest in brute strength of the sins and wrath is deeply seeded in humanity, and for Leviathan to be second is interesting and funny because he will always be second place trying to be better than everyone else.
Doubt vivziepoop would actually do her rsearch.
