Unpopular opinion, but I like how Rapunzel's character was written in Rapunzel's Tangled Adventures. She had been locked in a tower for the first 18 years of her life with no other human interaction aside from her literal kidnapper, who pretended to be her mother, so it makes perfect sense to me that she would be flawed. After all, she did miss out on crucial parts of her childhood development that would stunt her socially and emotionally once in society.
Rapunzel's desperation for acceptance and validation, as seen in her interactions in episodes like "Rapunzel's Enemy" (S1E2), is a poignant reminder of her longing for connection after years of solitude. She seems to crave social acceptance and inclusion within social groups which may contribute to feelings of security and self worth which may have been rather unfamiliar to her as a child since mother Gothel seemed to have no care for her aside from the purpose of using her.
Furthermore, her occasional egocentrism, demonstrated through actions like participating in the "Challenge of the Brave " (S1E4) without considering how it may impact Cassandra, highlights her self-focus and drive to pursue her own goals. This aspect of her character reflects both her determination and her struggle to balance her desires with empathy for those around her.
However, the series falls short in depicting substantial character growth for Rapunzel. Her journey towards maturity and self-awareness feels somewhat stagnant. There's a missed opportunity for her to evolve beyond the confines of her upbringing, to learn from her mistakes, and to develop into a more nuanced and empathetic individual. No one in the series ever points out when she's wrong , and when they do , they turn into villains ( eg: Varaian, Cassandra) which in turn prohibits her character from ever developing.
Perhaps a deeper exploration of her inner struggles and a more pronounced arc of growth could have enriched her character journey, making her evolution more resonant and satisfying .

I'm terrible at tagging people for things like this so if you see this and wanna do it, go ahead!
Yorkshire Sculpture Park is brilliant, ’cause it’s in Yorkshire.
I could end this post here, after that zealous statement, but I’ll endeavour to extol a few more virtues of a jaunt to this idyllic artistic paradise.
YSP is near Wakefield in West Yorkshire, (which is where I’m from, if you hadn’t guessed).
It has gazillions of acres of parkland, gardens, lakes, woods and buildings to roam…
