oh man, this gonna be a long one but ty for letting me infodump about my interests </3 my overall advice would be to be creative, and DON'T underestimate how intertwined social media is with everyday life. Experiment, see what works, and good luck <33

so a lot depends if you know the person in question irl or online and i'll go over both but first, here are some things that help in both cases: -names are not necessary to find people, useful af but info like what school they go to, class they're in, clubs they're in etc do better -look at their friends, their friends' friends, family, tagged photos, followers and following list (if they're active online), info doesn't just come from them, if you can't get in contact with them you can learn a lot from family, friends classmates etc

-intelius.com

-please PLEASE keep track of what info you found out and what they told you, don't accidentally drop that bombshell

-i have a folder where i keep my fp's information saved, all the "useful" images they sent me, link to their social medias, school website and more so i'd suggest making one of those

if you only know them online, here are some cyberstalking tips that don't rely on being close and location (all this assuming they're active online):

-look up their username(s) and variations everywhere. literally every platform you can think of, i had to sign up to 3 platforms i never used just for that

-look up their friends' usernames

-look at tagged photos, mentions and interactions they have with others in the comments under their posts to find out who they're friends with

-if you can see previous usernames (like on instagram) look up those too

-you might get lucky with wayback machine

-if you can find their reddit, twitter or any social media that shows their post and comment history study that shit

- if they haven't shown their face but have photos including any other part of their body that isn't usually covered up, even in colder climates (like hands most commonly) save those too, if you manage to find a school website or something later on that might have photos of their face you could match them up. it's difficult af but never give up, if there's a will there's a way

-reverse image search all the images they posted

-try images on geoimgr.com. photos taken on phone or camera will sometimes have GPS coordinates stored in the metadata of each file, but there are some websites that encrypt this

-anaylze the background of images, especially if they're taken outside

-trying to pinpoint a location (town or country they live in) would be good but not necessary: • if they posted screenshots that aren't cropped and include the time, it will be easy to figure out the general area because of timezones • use google maps to match up the background seen in images

if you wanna figure out an email or number: • log out of your account, put their username in in the login section, press "i forgot my password", the next part may vary from platform to platform but select the option for their the recover of their password to be recieved through email and it will display the first and last characters of their name, as well as what domain they're using. same with the phone number

next, in real life, i'm not really an expert in this since i've never stalked anyone irl for as long and as much as i have online but hope these help too!:

-eavesdrop

-if you're not close or to them (as in not in the same class, school, workplace etc) look for someone that knows them in any way.

-assuming you found that person, don't directly ask about them. let's say, your fp likesa art, so you ask that person about art clubs. chances are, they'll mention the one your fp is in. very vague example but it works with almost everything

-ask your parents about your fp's parents, works well if you're younger and still in school

-VERY carefully try to glance over at their phone's screen as much as you can, it could make finding social media accounts 10 times easier

-use all the info you manage to get for cyberstalking. don't follow them around, especially don't follow them home, you don't need to do that to figure out more about them. again, don't underastimate how ingrained social media is in our lives. Cyberstalking is much more easier and safer.

Oh boy, okay then, strap yourselves. Call me Captain Tangent because I'm going to take too long getting to the point, but yippee!!

Alright, first is the context before the context. I watched Wordgirl during the original shorts that were between Maya and Miguel since I was a PBS kid (cable was inconsistent). During that time, I watched it up until season 4, when I dropped off in favor of other stuff. From that time, I do remember that I wasn't a Tobey x Wordgirl(Becky) fan. Instead, Tobey's crush on Wordgirl flew over my small head, and I was a Scoops and Becky truther because apparently, I recognized Becky's crush on Scoops more. (I didn't know what shipping was exactly. All I knew was that I liked to pair characters up in my head or be invested in romantic tension. EXs: Robin and Starfire in OG Teen Titans, Tiana and Naveen, ...Pleakley and Jumba...)

When about season 4 started, I didn't try to see what the show was up to until after the Miss Power special, where I curiously searched up Wordgirl on the family computer to see what happened. There then I found SuperstarWordgirl's art and amvs about Tobecky. Remember, I forgot about Tobey's crush, so I was just confused about why people wanted to see them smoochy kiss (I was like: "What?? Doesn't he dislike her? And she has the other boy??")

I was puzzled and embarrassed seeing shipping amvs, so I left it alone, only searching it up a bit on ff.net because I used it for mlp fics, and yup still was confused so I didn't hear of Wordgirl by then.

--Then, my mind broke in 2016. With animated movies like Zootopia and Finding Dory, I started to develop fixations beyond MLP and lurk into fandoms where I discovered Tumblr. (I was in the mlp fandom before, but I wasn't overtly active or multifandom yet, and was still a kid, so I was in very much danger and scarred for life to the point of my development but that's for another day--). Later that year, with the release of Sing, I really kicked into gears of wanting to make stuff/make friends with similar interests. Yada Yada, eventually over a year with being on Tumblr, I started to see posts about childhood nostalgia, and the PBS ones caught my eyes. Wordgirl was a big one, and superhero stories were getting interesting for me again, so I nodded and respected it. BUT THEN I SAW A POST SAYING THAT there was a canonical gay couple in Wordgirl, and I ran straight to the tag--look I was invested highly into gay shit so once I heard about it...in a PBS show? In my childhood show? I was like, OKAY, LET'S HEAR IT OUT.

And yes indeed, to whom that post was referring to...was TJ and Johnson... (What I didn't know, that was just when Liz confirmed stuff on tumblr for the last season like two years ago), BUT REGARDLESS, I GOT INVESTED BECAUSE GAY PPL REAL!! So yes, guys. You technically have Tjohnson to thank for getting me into the fandom and, yes, eventually to ship Tobecky.

Getting into the Wordgirl tag, I was very excited and comforted by all the art and tight-knit unity the fandom had. Headcanons, fan arts, and crossovers with stuff like other PBS shows or Captain Underpants, it really put me in a place of whimsy at the time. (remembered I was in places like the brony fandom, so by comparison, i was safe) and I was in the starting phases of high school too, so yep, seeing nostalgic wonderful art did my brain good. My fixation of animated movies waned, and I dipped deeply into Wordgirl, other cartoons, and video games. Because I was lurking in the Wordgirl tag, it wouldn't take long to see Tobecky again, along with other ships. Then it finally dawned on me after seeing clips posted that Tobey definitely had a crush on Wordgirl. And well...I'm a sucker for anything romance and especially since I missed that detail before so I went on YouTube for more clips. This was before the resurgences of ppl posting Wordgirl stuff, so I then went to deviantart for answers and got obsessed with this one artist on their Tobecky art. Like I didn't ship it yet, but I liked it. Eventually, after a few weeks on the Wordgirl tag, I kicked the bucket and watched the full show (I actually watched it through a tumblr masterpost link AHH THE MEMORIES) but regardless, after watching everything, yup....it became a hyper fixation. But what about Tobecky? So, I mentioned before that it wasn't until re-watching the four seasons again and seeing for the first time the other seasons that started to ship tobecky. Specifically, Have You Seen The Remote. I was already a bit intrigued since the first episode (because I like for one-sided infatuation relationships), but the whole thing with Tobey trying to say how much he and Wordgirl could get along and how they're similar in some ways...he was trying to convince her on their potential chemistry; but all he did was convince me lmao.

I liked their dynamic that wasn't just romantic, too, and i stewed on it for a bit and reached the conclusion like I did with Tjohnson. That yes....shipping time. I made it to the last Tobey episode, and it just confirmed deeply that out of any other woodview school character that I liked her best with Tobey (the note dude, the note was my roman empire, similar to the scene of TJ getting bashful over Johnson complementing him in what would Wordgirl do). I was critical of the ship itself, especially after catching up with it's fandom lore and it did kinda made feel a tad guilty, but at this point I've made peace that I can like this ship but also talk shit because of my love for it (you can be analytic guys it ain't gonna kill you, but also be respectful and don't bully others).

Becky is my favorite character, and Tobey is my favorite character to analyze, so match made in haven, I suppose. Plus, i liked my spin on them in a timeskip setting, and AHH-- (*Future AU happens*). The fics only made it worse by how Tobecky began to infest my brain. Shout out to Something Hidden. Yeah, also, as I mentioned, after finishing up Wordgirl, that's when I really started to break out of my shell in the fandom and express my ideas and care for Tjohnson and Tobecky. I have never been sane since...

I’m tired of not being interacted with.

I always have to start the conversation. My ask box is empty 24/7. Maybe once in a while someone else will start a convo with me. I constantly get notes and I look and its just the kosa post I made. I might turn rbs/notifs off or delete it at this point. Someone I thought was my friend fucked up our friendship and I realized they didn’t actually value me in the first place. I joined the discord right when everything fell apart and practically everyone left. Half of my friends aren’t online often. I’m active in the discord and try to fucking fix everything and keep it lively and fun for everyone and it feels like nobody else fucking cares as much as I do.

I’m just really lonely and I feel like nobody cares to speak with me yknow. I reblog or make ask games, and I don’t get asks any asks. I tag friends in posts and they don’t rb or just acknowledge them. People always liked and never reblogged my art so I gave up posting it. I don’t get tagged in stuff and that made me hate picrew/reblog chains so I don’t do them anymore. Im always initiating conversations. I vent too much and complain and I can be rude so maybe that puts people off from me.

I just feel like I have stressed myself by trying to put in so much effort just for others to…not? Even back then when I was an anon. I would send rambles and ask people about their day and be super friendly just for..barely any response.

The last time my friends seemed to care so much was when I made my suicide note post at like, what, 14? I was begged to stay. People said they loved me so much and I mattered a lot to them.

..And then the next day it went back to no interaction.

I have ONE fucking irl friend and I’m grateful to have her and she means the world to me but fuck I’m so lonely. I even just talk to my animals like people at this point. I try to send asks to friends and they never get answered or the replies are short. Nobody sees my posts despite the fact I have 44 followers. Which irritates me. And half of those people followed for art and I can’t even do that anymore.

i feel like everyone liked me better when I was in the Lu fandom and under the different name. I got way more interactions back then. People saw my art more even though it was bad. Friends sent asks and DMs. People responded to my tagging. I would reblog ask games and I’d GET asks. I would post something and it would get attention. But now it’s so empty.

I used to post a headcanon about a character and people would say they loved it. Now I do it and it goes unnoticed. I talk about shit I like now and nobody fucking cares. Nobody listens. It pisses me the fuck off. Oh but if I came back as old me and started talking about lu again I’d get SOO much fucking attention.

I saw friends talk to eachother in huge reblog chains. I saw people reblog their mutuals posts all the time. Constantly answering asks. Talking about dm conversations. Everyone I was friends with. It feels like being in a huge circle of people yet everyone forgot about you. Even when you cut people off they didn’t notice. And that really shows that you weren’t of value in the first place. They didn’t care. You meant nothing to them. There was always someone who mattered more.

I feel invisible and honestly unwanted. And that really fuels my whole abandonment issues. Its so nice knowing people will leave you because they always have someone who’s more important. Someone they favor. Someone more valued.

I could post a suicide note right now and suddenly people would care. People would want to talk to me. People would ‘like’ me.

that really shows that people don’t care until your gone.

Best Book You've Read So Far: OK, I went back and forth because there were some good reads (🥁) this year. I will say both Ninth House and Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo (both from the Alex Stern series) | I think this is the best introduction into dark academia, truly. It's rarely in a lull, but never too much going on at once. All characters seem to be important in their own way, if not now then later, and I just...I love the characters aaaah!!

Best Sequel You've Read So Far: The Atlas Paradox by Olivie Blake | Obviously spoilery, but as a Callum fan, I wanna say that the fallout of what happened in book one was very interesting to see in a character with his personality. The first instance we see of him is who he 'takes on' in the mind test, expecting one of the others but finds himself. I just...man, I focused so heavily on Callum and Tristan that I forgot a large chunk of the rest, but I know it was all good...I just hyper-focused for a moment, OK?

New Releases You Haven't Read Yet, But Want To: Yuwu by Meat Bun | I have the copy, I had it pre-ordered, but...well, another book you will see down in the post put me into a slump, and now I am slowly working my way back to physical copies (I've been audiobooking the last month or so), but I've seen fan art and I'm feral already for that good shit

Most Anticipated Release for the Second Half of the Year: I'm blanking completely, a lot of things are coming out around right now that I want to read and it's been hectic, BUT for sure Yellow face by RF Kuang

Biggest Disappointment: How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix | You ever read something so shit that you go from rinsing through books, reading non stop, to....like a full on reader's slump for weeks? Yeah, it took me 3 weeks to pick up another book entirely, I hated hated that book...ugh. I finished it, but at what cost? My time, given to a cast of characters that are all entirely shit. That is why I'm only at 27 books into 2023...

Biggest Surprise: Paris The Memoire by Paris Hilton | OK, I knew a bit about Paris Hilton's dj and had sort of heard something about her time in the reform places, but...wow. She really is out here exposing your ass, Provo Canyon School, get fucked. I think if you're wanting to know what kinds of places Dr Phil sent kids is like from the inside perspective, Paris went through it again and again and also fuck men and the male gaze. Anyway, love Paris, want the best for her, xoxo

Favorite New Author: Ali Hazelwood, probably. I have only read Love Hypothesis so far, but I am eager to jump into her other works. I am also interested in reading more of Holly Black's work, as I've only read The Cruel Prince and am curious if she holds up!

New Favorite Character: Hm...Darlington from Leigh Bardugo's Alex Stern Series | At first, he seemed pretty cut and dry, cookie cutter Yale boy. Yeah, well we were WRONG OK? He's beautiful, amazing, deep, deserves to be pegged, OK I said it.

Book that Made you Cry: I am not a crier, so I did not cry. However, I will say that I was left emotionally cold after finishing No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai | The character is technically fictional, but to find out at the end that this is...just technically a fictional character, and we don't know what happened where we left off but have a good idea is....Yeah, had to pause it during seasonal depression because it was too heavy for my mental state at the time.

Favourite Page-to-Screen Adaptation: I've seen the trailers, so it counts. Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 | I read this after the anime first aired, and I will never not be excited to see Toji on screen. I will not spoil anything, I will just sit back and be Big Excite.

Book You Want to Read Before the End of the Year: Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber and The Sun and the Star by Rick Riordan...and also A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab I know, it's been out for forever and I own a copy, I just keep starting it and...idk what happens, but I forget to read it...

Ride Like The Wind - 2018 --> 2019 --> 2020

Yesterday (May 10 2023, for those of you playing at home) marked four years since the final episode of the Australian version of Pointless aired.

While it's fair to say that it wasn't a particularly popular adaptation - it didn't rate particularly well and it even got axed twice - this quiz show had such a strong hold of my heart for the ten months it was on air, I look back on it now and it's like looking back on an intense and prolonged fever dream.

And I'll admit, I wasn't really a fan at the start. I grew to love the UK original from what I'd seen on the ABC, and seeing Ten's attempt with its condensed format and commercial breaks was too jarring at first. But then I saw a call for audience members. I hadn't been to a recording of anything for a long time at that point, and I'd never been in an audience for a proper quiz show with actual cash prizes so I thought, "Hmm. This could be interesting."

I went along to a recording on August 29 2018. And friends, I was instantly hooked. I'd end up going to ten recordings and watched a total of seventeen episodes get made. Every single one of those recordings was a lot of fun, and it gave me a much needed reprieve from the horrible shit that was going on in my life at the time.

The first image up there was something I doodled in my daily drawing diary to mark the fact I went along to that first recording. If I remember correctly, I actually drew this a few days later, and I was largely relying on memory of what Mark and Andrew looked like as I didn't have any good reference pictures. I put it up on my "art" Insta account, taking care to not explicitly tag anything that could have anyone from the show actually finding it.

Mark found it anyway. He gave it a like. I freaked out.

But that gave me a spark. I thought if my (what I thought was shit) doodle was enough to get a like from one of the hosts, what if my art was actually good? So across the next six months, I'd go to more recordings, fall more and more in love with the show, actually apply to be a contestant (my Pointless friend and I made it to the auditions but we didn't make it onto the actual show), and I'd find myself doodling a lot of AU!Pointless related things throughout my workday.

In hindsight, I think the show was all I let myself think about. Work was starting to get worse, and I was hideously stressed and anxious and probably incredibly depressed - AU!Pointless was my escape from all of that.

February 8 2019 was the day it was announced the show would be axed due to low ratings. The recording on February 15 would be the last. I took the news pretty badly. Very badly, to be honest. I felt like I was losing a friend. I remember being in the audience for that final recording and trying my best not to totally bawl my eyes out when Mark and Andrew said their final goodbyes to camera.

The second image is a second, Copic-coloured version of a pencil drawing I made to commemorate that final recording. I posted it to both Insta and Twitter at 6:30pm on May 10 2019, just as the final episode finished airing. Mark thanked me for being "so wonderfully supportive" and told me he loved the drawing. He then shared it on his Insta a few days later, thanking me as a "superfan".

My entire year was made, right there and then.

The third image was something I drew on my then relatively new iPad, and posted on May 10 2020 to mark one year since the last episode aired. It's one of my all-time personal favourite things I've drawn.

I still fondly think about AU!Pointless and just how much joy it gave me in the brief time it was on air. But more importantly - and it only hit me recently - if it weren't for this kooky dinnertime quiz the network censors somehow forgot about and how much it did consume me, I honestly don't think my artistic ability would be anywhere near where it is these days. If it weren't for the praise and attention I received back then, I might not have been motivated enough to keep going and to keep improving my skills.

And for giving me that motivation and that sense of achievement back then, I am eternally grateful.

As to why I've named these pieces "RIde Like The Wind"? The Christopher Cross song of the same name was playing in the studio before the last episode was recorded. I'll probably forever associate that song with this show now, to be honest.

A major bombshell is dropped on you the day before graduation, and you decide that it's best for everyone if you just disappear. But, what happens when the pair walks into your café four years later?

Chapter 1

Shambles.

You are in literal shambles this morning. Nothing seems to be going right. First, you woke up late because you forgot to charge your phone when you came in last night. So, you were late out the door and had to skip breakfast, the most important meal of the day. Then, your car wouldn’t start so you were forced to order an uber, which was too fucking expensive during rush hour in Tokyo. THEN, you were written up at your first job for bring late for the fifth time this month. And to top it all off, your best friend Gabbie wouldn’t be able to babysit Blossom tonight.

“I’m so sorry, babe” Gabbie lamented, “I have this twenty-page paper due at 11:59, and I’ve only written three sentences. She pouted, looking up at you with puppy dog eyes that only a true bottom could muster, hoping that you weren’t upset. Which you weren’t. How could you be upset when you’ve been there before. Assignments piled up so high, it seemed like you’d never make it through; but you always found a way and pulled through. You had to. There wasn’t any other option; Blossom needed you. “Don’t worry about it, love” you smiled, petting the pouting bottom’s head, “I’ll figure it out.”

Work progressed slowly. Thankfully, there weren’t a lot of customers coming in today, so you were able to listen to a recorded lecture while folding denim. Every moment of your free time was dedicated to studying, you couldn’t afford to fall behind. Was it tiring? Sure, but sometimes the end justifies the means.

Take Blossom, your beautiful baby girl, for example. Being pregnant at 19, in Japan wasn’t easy. Especially, when you’re black and your parent’s disowned you. On top of that you lost your child’s father and best friends. It was hard being alone, but you got by. Moved to Tokyo, found a job, moved into a small apartment, and started taking online classes. Now, you’re two semesters away from your degree, and you’ve gained a new best friend to replace the two that you’d lost.

Blossom was an amazingly gifted three-year-old, no doubt like her father. Super intelligent, oddly perceptive, and incredibly understanding for a toddler. She understood mommy’s situation and she rarely put up a fuss when you couldn’t do something. Always, on her best behavior, well most of the time. She was a mischievous little thing, always finding herself in the middle of something but never backing down. Again, like her father.

You missed him, both of them actually. How could you not when their faces were plastered on billboards and tv screens as some of Japan’s hottest up and coming heroes? Honestly, you didn’t even need to see advertisements to be reminded of them. Blossom was literally his twin, just with curlier hair and darker skin. The resemblance was uncanny.

Sometimes you wonder how things would have gone if you’d handled it differently, but it was best for everyone involved for you to go off on your own. They had big dreams; been trying to accomplish this goal their entire lives. Plus, they had become a couple. Why cause a problem if you didn’t have to? You weren’t resentful, though. On the contrary, you were extremely proud of your former friends. Smiling proudly whenever you’d see their faces on hero news; you even had a scrapbook outlined of all their victories and interviews. You’d show it to Blossom when she got older.

The conversation hadn’t really come up yet. When she asked why her daddy never came to play, you told her that he was busy keeping all of Japan safe. She wanted to know who he was, but you told her that you needed to keep his identity a secret, so the villains wouldn’t find out. The child had been obsessed with heroes ever since, and oddly enough they were her favorites.

Time was passing quickly, and you still didn’t know what you were going to do about Blossom. Your friend, Nani, wasn’t available because she was “going out with her man”. She had started dating this retired pro hero and she was sprung. Sis was open like a can of pig’s feet. You were glad for her, get your bag sis. This is your life and your daughter, it wouldn’t be fair to burden other people with your issues.

With a sigh, you texted your manager and let him know that you’d be bringing Blossom in with you tonight. It was the closing shift, in a developing area downtown, so there wouldn’t be many customers. He was a sweet old man and didn’t mind at all, you’d done it a couple times before. Plus, Blossom was always on her best behavior and stayed hidden in the back. So, what could possibly go wrong?

“I’m fuckin’ exhausted” Katsuki sighed, plopping down on a leather couch in the waiting room of their new agency. Todoroki, Kirishima, and Izuku were all stretched out in similar positions. Muscles strained and bones aching from hero work and moving furniture. Katsuki insisted on doing everything themselves because, “you can’t trust no fuckin’ extras to do shit right!”. It was hard work, but it paid off. Now, they were all resting in the beautifully decorated lobby of their joined agency. They worked well together in high school and during their time as sidekicks at the Endeavor agency; so, it made sense for them to start their career off as a team.

Normally, it would’ve been hard for heroes as young as them to branch off on their own. But, with their awesome quirks, and Endeavor’s credit card, they’d been given a head start. It was really impressive; they were only 24 but they’d made it into the Top 20 hero chart. Katsuki was number 10, with Izuku, Todoroki, and Kirishima taking 11-13 respectively.

“Same, man. Today was brutal.” Kirishima added, “I can’t wait to get home.”

“We should all probably head out. I have a date” Shoto replied, never looking up from his phone. Katsuki scoffed, “Probably shouldn’t consider BJ’s from thirsty IG models in the backseat of your Jag a date.” The dual haired man glanced up with a frown, “I shouldn’t?” he looked confused, making the others chuckle. “Todoroki-kun, if that was the case then you’d be dating half of Japan.” Izuku says, and the others nod in agreement. “You’re a fucking slut, Icy-Thot”.

If Shoto was concerned about this new development it didn’t last long because when he answered a facetime call with three chocolate baddies, he was shrugging on his jacket and heading out the door. Kirishima followed closely behind, because if we’re being honest, he’s a bit of a whore too.

“Wow” Izuku deadpanned, shaking his head in disbelief. “I don’t know why you’re still shocked, hell if we weren’t dating, you’d probably be going with ‘em”, Katsuki smirked. They all had a reputation with the ladies back in the day. There were plenty of girls that they fucked back at UA, but they just got the dick. Only one girl had their heart. The same girl that disappeared without a trace. (Y/N)’s sudden departure was devastating.

She’d missed graduation and ceased all methods of communication. Even her social media profiles were taken down. They’d learn a few weeks later that she’d given up her dream of becoming a rescue hero to return to the states for college. Her parents sounded bitter and upset when they shared the news with the duo. The father eyed them suspiciously the whole time. They never paid attention to it, too distraught over their lost love. They’d had flings with different girls since then, but nothing seemed to stick. Just a fun way to blow off some steam. No one could compare to (Y/N) (L/N).

Izuku shrugged off the comment and yawned, “I’m tired but I want something to eat” “You can eat my di-“ “Kacchan, please !” Izuku groaned, shaking his head but not stopping the smile that was spreading on his face. He loved his flirty, aggressive, and wildly inappropriate boyfriend. “It’s a place that I went to around the corner for breakfast last week. They don’t close until late. Wanna go?” Katsuki nodded and followed his boyfriend out into the cold night air.

Hand in hand, the heroes walked along the sidewalk. Silently enjoying eachother’s company as the made their way to the café. Always the gentleman, Izuku held the door open for Katsuki who scoffed as he brushed past him. The pleasant warmth of the café tickled his cheeks, and the smell of food filled the air.

“Just a minute!”.

Katsuki froze, the voice sounded so familiar. He couldn’t place it, but he knew that he recognized it from somewhere. Izuku shuffled in behind him, huddling close to steal some warmth. “Smells good” Katsuki didn’t respond, eyes locked on the double door. He just couldn’t shake this feeling.

“Sorry about that!” You breathed, smoothing your apron down as you burst through the door. Blossom had made a mess with the cupcakes, and you were helping her clean up. You didn’t even look up, body so tired that you were on autopilot. “What can I ge-

“What the fuck?”

Your eyes widened and back straightened, it couldn’t be? Too afraid to look up, you stayed locked in place.

“(Y/N)?” It broke your heart. You’d never heard your name said with such emotion. The slight tremor in his voice made your chest tighten, and you found yourself on the verge of hyperventilating.

“(Y/N) (L/N)!” you flinched, finally looking up and wishing you’d braced yourself because the intensity of their gazes almost knocked you off your feet.

Why here? Why now? Oh my god, I look like shit you thought, fidgeting with the strings of your apron, and chewing your lip. “Yes?” your voice was soft, too soft. It pissed them off. “That’s all you’re gonna say?” Katsuki snapped, clenching his fists to contain the explosions that were threatening to pop off. Izuku wasn’t much better, left eye twitching and unreadable expression on his face. You couldn’t tell if he wanted to fight or cry. Knowing him it’s probably both. “Bakugo, please keep your voice down.” Your voice was a lot more confident than you felt.

“Bakugo?” he spat, deeply offended that you’d address him in that manner, “Since when am I Bakugo?”

“I-

“What happened (Y/N)?” Izuku interrupted, “Have you been in Japan this whole time?” Swallowing thickly, you nodded yes and both men groaned. “I don’t know whether to hug you or choke you.” The conflicting emotions were apparent in his stormy gaze. Both, men seemed upset, but they were also sad. Really sad. “Why did you leave us?” Katsuki says, it was almost a whimper. Tears stung his eyes, threatening to fall, but he blinked them back.

“i-I can explain”.

Suddenly, the double doors swung open and out ran Blossom holding a little pink cupcake.

“Mommy, Mommy! Look!” The two heroes whipped their heads around in the direction of the small voice. Katsuki looked as if he’d been punched in the gut and Izuku’s mouth kept opening and closing. “M-mommy?” His voice caught the little girl’s attention, and her eyes widened when she saw the two heroes.

“Mama! He’s from the tv! Look Mr. TV man, I’m just like you!” She held the cupcake up and it exploded splattering icing all over them. The two of them stared at you slack jawed and you laughed awkwardly.

“Heh, it’s a girl !”

Literally no one asked for this but because I spent the majority of last year (...and 2019, and 2018...) reading byler fics and coping with life, I thought I’d make a list of some of my absolute favorites. 

The other day I was basically starving for some byler fics and the angel @magicalfairy provided me with some of her faves so I thought I’d do the same, because I love reading, and I love all of these fics and I appreciate their writers💗 And fic writers in general, come on!

- This is a mix of long works and one-shots/short stories. - Everything is mostly fluff with a tad of angst and a lot of internalized homophobia conflict.  - Every fic is completed, except for the ones I mention that they are not. - I try my best to lay out the stories in a way that I won’t spoil you the plot but also warning you of some stuff you might don’t like. Either way, all of these fics are correctly tagged by their respective authors/owners, so read at your own risk. For better understanding, in between brackets I denote Rating, Words and quantity of Chapters. - I feel like I should clarify, none of these are narrated in the singular first person. None of that “And I told him...”, no. 

Long fics

a dream always the same (T, 99k, 35 chapters) What happened in those few weeks between the Battle of Starcourt and the Byers leaving Hawkins. Literally a satisfying and very needed fill in of season three, with a good dose of Mike’s thoughts and conflict. Mike’s characterization is specially amazing in this one. The writing style is amazing and I know the author put everything into making it historically accurate, and it was really sweet. You probably read it, it’s by the amazing sevensided here on Tumblr🧡

Spring Break (T, 120k, 14/15 chapters) The slowburn of my dreams. Lots of internalized conflict and conflict with each other. Conflict within the Party (uhh kind of), conflict with Mike and Will. Byers family has moved and the kids are visiting! Chaos. Characterization is on point. Yeah, I know it’s unfinished, but the fourteenth chapter actually serves as a pretty nice ending. 

This is where it starts (M, 148.8k, 24 chapters) Aged up characters. The Party is in college and Will disappears again, but now it’s different. Mike knows he didn’t vanish from thin air, and the discovery he and the Party end up making is pretty insane. Mystery solving/fantasy/third dimension, throw in a bit of D&D and Mike realizing some shit, and you get this marvelous fic. It’s a breath of fresh air. The world building is definitely one of the elements that stands out the most, because it’s very nicely described, it sounds like a dream and it’s completely immersive. Absolute gem of a fic. 

there’s a Starman waiting in the sky (M, 30.6k, 8 chapters) Do I need to say anything? Will is out there living his best life and Mike realizes that wow, umm, maybe his best friend looks a bit too nice with that costume... and wait, is he getting horny? It’s actually really fun and sexy.

The Evening Speaks (T, 23k, 7 chapters) In where Mike is a late-night college radio host and Will is the art student that stays up till late to catch up with Wheeler on the Mic. They flirt through songs y’all, this one is really sweet. 

heads or tails? (E, 24k, 3 chapters) Aged up characters. I know most people don’t enjoy sex in fics and with specific characters but this one is insanely well written. It’s a slowburn that commits to the tension and with every word you are grasping and anticipating their next move. I think you can find the author here on Tumblr as yousaidyes🧡

The Man of Average (M, 56.7k, 5/? chapters) Aged up characters. No but you don’t understand, the writing here is absolute gourmet. The story is exciting as well, it’s super interesting. Weirdly enough, for being very aged up characters, they are well characterized but they don’t feel like teenagers. They are naturally Mike and Will. The author really captured Mike and Will’s essence. I know, it’s unfinished and it’s updated very rarely, but this is the typical fic you can’t believe someone just posted on the internet for free. I will say though, I think it’s definitely not for everyone. Read at your own risk.

Heartstrings (E, 82.8k, 24/? chapters) Aged up characters. By the same author of The Man of Average. A collection of memories, the road to Mike and Will’s happy ever after. And fucking hell!!!!! You’ll cry and get angry, you’ll cheer for them, then you’ll want to crash their faces together because god dammit you love each other!!! But yeah, same thing here. The writing and the way the story is laid out as a nonlinear narrative is brilliant. And I also think this is one of the best Will versions I’ve read. The author might as well be the og creator of this two characters tbh. You can find the author here as mylesimeblr🧡

Sinners behind the walls (T, 1.5k, 1/1) And because I can’t stop recommending this author, a little thing of Mike tormenting himself but also being too deeply committed to Will. 

The Red Envelope series (T/E, 167K, two completed works) Something happens that Will thought was impossible and from there, pure drama and romance. Anything by this author has the potential to become your absolute favorite fic, but this series in particular is amazing. I doubt that any of you haven’t read this, but it doesn’t hurt to put it in this list. I’m pretty sure the author is serendipitous-magic on Tumblr🧡

A New Fight series (T, 91k, two completed works, one WIP) And finally the Star Wars AU that we all needed. But this isn’t your typical “Mike is Han”, “Will is Leia” and “El is Luke”, it’s way more interesting than that, and the author has appropriated the Star Wars world like no other. I’ll admit I’m not a 100% fluent in SW lore but this is amazing to me either way. This author is also on Tumblr, tea-for-one-please🧡

- Yes, most of these are (if not all), in a way, canon compliant/canonverse/canon continuation into fanon. (In a way)

One-shots and short stories

Sundae for Two, Please (G, 4.8k) Steve being the supportive friend and older brother these kids collectively need. (not Jonathan erasure, we love him). Steve is very sweet himself, and this little cute thing through his POV is gorgeous. Yes, it’s byler.

Backstage (T, 10k, 2/2) Jonathan, you forgot to mention to Will how hot your new band’s guitarist is, dude. Now he’s hyperventilating and weirdly flirting with him in the corner. Background Stonathan because why not.

102 Peach Street (G, 3.8k) Established relationship, but not only that, they are married :’’))) PURE fluff. Extreme fluffiness. Diabetes. 

sweatshirts and bottled up feelings (T, 3.2k) Or, Mike thinks that the sweatshirt Will wears looks insanely good on him. And kitchens are for lovers. 

kiss it better (T, 16.3k) Basically one of the best character studies of a few precise moments of Mike and Will’s relationship and feelings. 

will wonders ever cease (T, 11.3k) #i ship will and happiness. Omfg what a beautiful piece of fanfic. Will centric, this kid really deserves all the good in the world.

The Calm After the Storm (T, 1.6k) Tooth rotting fluff, boyfriends in love. Boyfriends being lazy, cuddling, love words, kisses. Boys loving each other’s company... Basically, Mike and Will in their element. What more can you ask for?

neither of us ready to let go (T, 4.8k) That scene from season three, but a bit of a fix it. 

Still in love (G, 1k) Domestic, married life au fluff. Y’all, I’m a sucker for established Byler, even if I can’t find many fics with it. But this is very sweet. It takes place in 2020, but I don’t think there are any mentions of the COVID-19 crisis that I remember.

I Nver Find Out ‘Til I’m Head Over Heels (G, 12.5K) Classic 5+1 fic. If you haven’t read it, where have you been? This is your moment. In where Mike keeps inviting Will to the school dances and Will thinks it’s just a joke until he realizes it’s not. 

Before You’re Gone (T, 5.9k) Will is leaving Hawkins and Mike thinks this is a great moment for a confession. This one I discovered last friday, thank you friend @magicalfairy 💗

You’re weird Wheeler (M, 4.5k) Mike unintentionally starts a tradition of going to each other to talk about their sexual encounters just after they finish. Will keeps getting more explicit with the details he shares, and he makes his best friend interested. This one is really fun y’all.

Out-Of-Town Friends (N/R, 4.6K) It’s not rated. I haven’t re- read it but I’d say it would probably fall in a T rating. So cute!! Will has new friends and sneaks off every friday and the Party doesn’t know where he is going, so Mike decides to follow him and is surprised. 

Snowed Under (G, 1.3k) By the same author of The New Fight series. Mike is spending christmas by himself in college because a snowstorm hits Chicago and Nancy can’t drive to see him, but then he has a surprise visitor. Ahhh just a lil sweet holiday fic. Super cute. 

you love me anyway series (T, 7.1k, three completed works) Literally just the cutest thing ever. Established Byler. Will loves to take pictures and he loves taking pictures of Mike. It’s adorable. 

you wanna be friends forever (i can think of something better) (T, 9k) This one is so amazing. So. Amazing. From Will’s POV, my kid deserves the world and he gets it. 

okay not to be okay (T, 4.9k) Mike is a bit sad but then everything is okay. 

can’t hold out forever (G, 18.4k) Y’all!!!!! 5+1 sweetness. Mike has been falling in love since kindergarten. And it’s long af, you’ll enjoy it. 

even if it takes forever (G, 1.3k) College short AU, they miss each other, they love each other, they promise all to each other. It is sappy y’all.

clear as day (N/R, 18.4K, 4 chapters) It’s not rated, but I’d say it falls in the T category. Strangers to friends to lovers. And also, everyone is pretty gay; we have our dynamic trio Mike, Max and El as disaster lesbians (and gay). Will works at the library and he is also gay. Lucas and Dustin and Will are the best friends we needed. It’s very sweet and the Party is kind of formed here!

I went overboard with the one-shots, so you must have realized how much I love long one-shots and I favor them over long works lmao but they are all amazing!!! If it’s on this list, I probably read it at 2 am, sobbing in my bed. So. Hope you enjoy it☺️🧡

So, Isaac! He's like one of my favorite types of fictional character: unhinged arrogant men who are incredibly broken. Isaac has like two main motivations: he wants power and control, and he doesn't want to be hurt. And these are also very influenced by incredibly excessive amounts of hubris and anger.

A little bit of backstory: Isaac is an immortal shapeshifter, and he was born in like 1600s France (or the fantasy equivalent depending on the universe I put him into). He's transgender, which very much sucked for him in 1600s France, because 1. he was not allowed to live as his true gender and 2. people seen as women were not treated very nicely in 1600s France. Isaac was going to be married off to someone he didn't choose- so he ran away instead. And almost immediately afterwards he got into a duel and almost died. A last-minute deal with a deity saved his life, because he received his immortality and shapeshifting powers. The cost was that everyone he knew forgot about him- so he just went to the woods and lived there for like 150 years. Eventually he returned to society tho. However during that period of time in the woods, Isaac was completely isolated, and that warped his worldview very much. He thinks that he's above like all humans because of his powers. Combined with deep-seated resentment at humanity because of the restricted life he once led, Isaac decides to take it out on people by like. Murdering them. And then cannibalizing them afterwards. He looks down on people so much and he's desperate for a feeling of power and control, and murder and cannibalism gives him heaps of that. And then after like 50 years of that he gets caught. And his captors attempt to execute him, but it doesn't work since he's immortal. And they try everything. Hanging, beheading, drowning, immolation, garroting, just about everything. Isaac was alive and conscious for every one of them. So yeah, trauma! And eventually they decided to immure him (lock him in a cell, brick up the wall, and leave him to die), because he'd have to die eventually, right? Well, he didn't, and he spent about 200 years in a cell. A dark cell in a basement, with nobody else inside. His first escape attempts were futile, and eventually he lost the strength to even try escaping. Isaac may be immortal, but he still needs food and water to function normally. So it was just torture for him. He suffered even more knowing that he was there because he was subdued. Isaac knew that nobody would ever come to save him. He feels ashamed that he ever wanted someone to save him. Eventually he escapes because the prison above gets demolished. It takes him a while, but after finding food and water and getting to rest, Isaac does fully recover physically. His powers ensure that he'll never even have a scar. He returns to killing people anyways, because Isaac will never learn. Being left to rot in a basement cell changes him quite a bit, ofc! He's incredibly angry that he was bought so low, and he takes it out extra on people by committing more murder. And he's incredibly afraid of people and how they could hurt him now, although he'll never admit it. Isaac tries to pretend nothing ever happened to him, but he still sleeps with the lights on, and he hides food in his clothing, he's always eating or drinking something, and he flinches when someone gets too close to him. He's gone through so much shit, especially cuz of his own actions, but his pride prevents him from doing any self reflection, so he will keep digging his own grave further and further and further. Isaac does not have the ability to swallow his pride and reconsider what path he's taking, or seek help, and he doesn't try to be a better person cuz he doesn't think he needs to be.

And yeah! That's the Isaac infodump. It's just about every piece of information about regular Isaac. Should I reveal this in my writing instead of a tumblr ask? Probably. Will I post this anyways? Absolutely.

When I was in the discord you always talked shit about jack and nit picked over the smallest faults he’s made. You being associated with blue even ONCE tells me that you are attracted to these people (not romantically obviously but you get my point). Then we go onnn about me leaving the discord. Like I had the choice to tell you? I knew you’d talk shit about me if I told you why I left and if I lied you’d find out so I did the right thing and just left for good. at first i looked at cover artists of rrp books

Vivienne To did the art for Dragon Pearl and The Last Fallen Star so the art style feels familiar and she is clearly tied to the Riordan label, but it didn't feel right.

Vanessa Morales also did art for Paolo Santiago and the Forest of Nightmares, which was also kind of similar but her work was like, too dynamic to feel right for this profile. the colors she uses are so vibrant!!!

....then i got lazy and only did those 2 😭 the rest felt too off anyway

The problem with those two is that it seems they only draw for things related to their culture (which is a neat move on riordan's side i think) but the pjo artist all seem to be the same for the pjo articles.
