I had so much fun participating and ended up falling in love with these characters, so I thought I'd share them as a little Simblreen treat. Please give them a better life than being casualties or traumatized for life in my horror AU. <3

Donald Trump has never been mistaken for an environmentalist, having long called the climate crisis a “giant hoax” and repeatedly lauding the supposed virtues of fossil fuels. But the US president’s onslaught upon the natural world in this administration’s first 100 days has surprised even those who closely charted his first term, in which he rolled back environmental rules and tore the US from the Paris climate agreement. This time, the mantra “drill, baby, drill” has been used to justify a hyperactive series of actions to reverse rules designed to protect clean air and water, open up vast tracts of land, ocean and even the seabed to mining, fire federal scientists en masse and downgrade the federal response to the disasters that stem from a warming world. Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is attempting to roll back toxic regulations that were calculated to save an estimated 200,000 Americans’ lives in the years ahead, his Department of the Interior is looking to shrink national monuments and his scientific agencies are degrading the basic data collection required for climate assessments and even weather forecasts. This burst of activity faces a barrage of legal action, with the courts already taking a dim view of the administration’s attempts to skirt usual practice in its haste to deregulate. Even with a rightwing-dominated supreme court, many of these executive orders are expected to founder. However, the US must accelerate efforts to cut emissions if climate goals are to be met, half of Americans still have to endure unsafe air and endangered species and public lands face pressure from a changing climate. The next few years will see little remedy to these growing problems from the White House. “The pace of announcements may slow at some point but the pressure on our regulatory system and our democracy will not only continue, but ramp up,” said Michael Burger, a climate law expert at Columbia University. -“The result will be fewer environmental protections and more people suffering the public health consequences of more pollution. Slashed is a short Halloween-themed horror novella intended for mature audiences. It contains triggers, adult themes, and explicit content, reader discretion is advised.

Review:

A haunted house attraction... a girl who wants nothing more than to be the final girl and win the game soon finds herself getting more than what she signed up for when the killer is giving her more than what the experience promised. Sadie always thought she'd make a good final girl, and when Slashed, a haunted house experience offers a slasher game, she immediately signs up for it with her friends. Yet while waiting in line she attracts the attention of one of the actors.... and while playing the game things get out of hand as the scare actor seems to be playing a whole different game with her.... and that there might actually be bodies dropping. This is a great halloween-themed horror romance for fans of slashers!

SLASHED | Day 12. The Killer

Aidan Fisher has specific grievances with all of his former "gifted" classmates, including Jess McIntosh. But when he staged a little run-in with her, she didn't even recognize him. After what they all did to him - ruining his life, getting him expelled, and setting off a butterfly effect that would ultimately ruin his family, that stupid, callous bitch didn't even know who he was. At first he thought he might just kill her then and there, but then a thought dawned on him: he could use this to his advantage. So, he befriended her. He listened to her bemoan the friends she'd lost, cry about how hard it was for things not to go her way for the first fucking time in her privileged, cushy life. He even held her hand as she wept about her parents, sometimes letting a few faux tears of his own fall with her, and he let her yell about the dickhead boyfriend who forgot her birthday and just wanted to sleep with her. It wasn't long before she was wholly dedicated to him, stupidly faithful and even convinced she loved him. So, once the timing was just right, he began to lay the framework of his plan by convincing her that she deserved answers... she deserved revenge. He assured her that they could right the wrongs, together. Although she was hesitant at first, she was ultimately on board before long. She didn't need to know he only needed her as a means to an end; once she served her purpose and there was only one left - Dani Baker - he could dispose of her. She would set the stage for him, get some blood on her hands, assist in some kills to get her anger out, and ultimately take the fall for everything: "unhinged rich girl with daddy issues and a bad attitude snaps at her former friends." It was a foolproof plan. No one would even know Aidan had been here - after all, Jess didn't remember him. He wasn't even on the guest list.

At last Aidan would finally get to do what he aimed to do from the start, a plan years in the making: make his former classmates regret ever crossing him. If he couldn't have a future, neither would they.

The Netherlands is scrapping development aid for programmes supporting women’s rights, higher education, sport and culture under reforms announced by PVV aid minister Reinette Klever on Thursday. Klever said all programmes in future “must directly contribute to our interests” to make the distribution of funding “more relevant for Dutch taxpayers”, Klever said in a statement. Unicef, one of the international organisations supported by the Netherlands, will lose 50% of its funding. The cutbacks of €2.4 billion a year from 2027 will leave €3.8 billion to be spent to promote Dutch interests in the areas of “trade and economy, safety and stability and migration”.
