Not a Book: America’s Sweethearts
Back to the streaming services this Sunday and a documentary that I actually watched basically as soon as it came out – but which has taken a few weeks to actually get posted because of things that were slightly more pressing on a time front. But actually it’s been really interesting to watch the conversations about this series over the last few weeks as well.
America’s Sweethearts is a seven…

ngl the reason the older mclaren unboxed videos from like 2019 fascinate and compel so much is the stylistic choice the director made for the camera to be like a voyeuristic eye that lingers, watching through the cracks of doors or peeping over barriers like this without really any extra commentary or music. it catches the drivers when they're not really performing for the media, revealing something vulnerable and real about them. in this particular case, carlos when he's alone before a race looks a bit like a huge dork doing his athletic warm ups, and lando seems all relaxed and pliable in the hands of his trainer as he gets his head in the game. they have totally opposite energies but it makes sense for both. i just love getting to see what's happening behind closed doors <33

Bret Hart when Netflix asked if he wanted to be in their film so he could trash Vince non-stop in what will likely end up one of the most watched sports documentaries ever
He’s been training his whole life for this moment.

Cross-country season has started! Fifa!talia is out, FIS!talia is in!
Most of the athletes on the GBR team are Scottish and they all live in Norway most of the year. Norwegians have such a love for them and some of them even speak Norwegian fluently. Two years ago, they lost funding from the UK government and it looked like they would have to quit skiing all-together. Then, rich Norwegians began sponsoring them and now they are training with a private Norwegian team and funded by Norwegians 💖

I failed to submit multiple homework assignments because I spent my midnight study time reading bbts instead. And you know what? Completely worth it, have a croissant.
✨🥐✨
Genuinely saved my day when I felt terrible on multiple occasions, I appreciate you so much.
hell yeah! i’m a homework hater (as in, hater of the concept of it on principle) so i support you doing something fun instead of a few assignments.
and i’m so glad it has brightened your day ❤️

"The pieces have started to come together for a great documentary. Today, we spent time at Rammstein drummer Christoph Schneider’s place. He was chatting to our protagonist Stefan Kretzschmar about growing up in the DDR and how a whole new world of opportunities arose as the Berlin Wall came down.
With this film, we are hoping to reach audiences far beyond the handball community, and with Toni Kroos, Dirk Nowitzki, and Christoph Schneider now in the can, things are looking promising. Stay tuned for the premiere in January."| From the producer Nicklas Vinde Mathiassen's Facebook page.

Not a Book: 99
As if there wasn’t already enough sport on TV at the moment, what with the Euros reaching the start of the last round of group games tonight, the grass court tennis season being well underway and the build up to the Olympics, I’ve got a football documentary for you today.
99 is Amazon Prime’s documentary about the 10 days that saw Manchester United win the treble in the summer of 1999, which I…

if anyone wants to watch an actually good tennis documentary I highly recommend breaking point (different from break point). it’s about mardy fish and his struggles with mental health, it’s really well-made and feels authentic
