The CSS Little Trick
Tumblr media
Monday 21st August 2023
I finally figured out how to do this picture enlargement CSS trick! I was at work and C# and SQL were boring me to death so to take my mind off things, I was playing around in the W3School online editor. This image enlargement trick was something I wanted to learn for years and now recently to add to my Neocite blog.
Tumblr media
Just playing with some ideas and thinking logically how to make it work if I could code it and boom, I did it. Now the way I did it isn't the only way nor it might not be the easier way of doing things but I'm just happy I figured it out! I'll add it to my blog later~!

👀 Hullo there
I just wanted to stop by to- for one- tell you that your art is absolutely beautiful! You have such a fluidity and waterlike quality to all of your drawings, they remind me of single frames from old school Disney, like they should start dancing around my screen at any second.
I was wondering, (I'm sorry if it's annoying, you probably get this kind of question a Lot 😭) how long did it take you to get where you're at? Or- how long did it take you before you were satisfied with your artistic quality? I'm a baby artist (if you could count me as such, I started last week 😭) and I know it's gonna take me probably 5+ years to get where I want, but I can't help the insatiable curiosity
Oke das all thank u I wish u nothing but boundless inspiration and perfect ellipses on the first try
hmmmmm! im in my late twenties now and have been drawing on and off since primary school (tho i had a big gap in middle/high school before picking it up again a few yrs into uni) and can only say that i only got to Some sense of satisfaction a few yrs back, which coincided with going fulltime freelance and Drawing A Ton All The Time because of that (paired w/ the external validation of having folks wanting to pay for my work)
i also became more conscious of what demotivates me when it comes to art, being comparing myself to others mainly, and am now usually able to nip that in the bud before i go into a wild death spiral lol.......... i dont know that ull ever be completely satisfied & thats fine, as long as it doesnt stop u from trying again 🤔
i always say to beginner artists that if u can help it, really try to keep the *process* fun for urself, whatever that looks like - dont think abt how marketable it is or how many likes or whatever u get, bc when ur just starting out that stuff is just going to make u feel bad
when u think about what u want it to look like in the future dont beat urself up if it feels like ur not getting closer - tbh, by the time 5 yrs have passed what u want from ur art might be really different from what ur thinking now & thats All Good Babey
hmm what else... it might be interesting to know that ive never taken any formal art education/classes besides middle sql 'drawing' - i think that shows in certain aspects of my work (perspective LOL) and potentially slowed down my progress but personally when i find artists i Really Like and that stick out to me theyre usually also self taught!!

me: I need to work. I need to do these tasks.
my brain: but what if we instead imagine all of the job duties as DND 5e spells and assign levels to them instead of actually working, wouldn't that be more fun?
Tumblr media
anyway this was a productive afternoon even though the roomba got stuck under the couch
Level 12 "Cleric" (Business analyst)
Base stats: WIS 7 INT 8 CHA 2 STR 1 CON 1 DEX 1 Level 12 WIS proficiency bonuses for all spells
Skills: Insight (checks against WIS), History (checks against INT)
Five cantrips: Basic skills that don't cost any spell slots and can be done at any time without rolling for initiative. However, they do consume one turn.
Check email and reply if needed (Guidance)
Chat in Slack (Message - no Cleric proficiency bonus as this is a wizard skill)
Test JIRA bug/task tickets that are single point of failure (Spare the Dying) Requires a simple success or fail roll. FAILED ROLL EFFECT: If a ticket does not pass on the first attempt, then this will require a cast of Detect Poison and Disease and consume a Level 1 spell slot.
Correct typos / proof read someone else's writing (Mending)
Search Google for information (Light)
Spell List 12 (level) plus WIS of 7 for a total of 19 max available spells (I have 2 open spots left)
Five Level 1 spells
Update localization in IntelliJ with pull/push action (2 turns, but can be interrupted and resumed) (Cure Wounds)
Update Confluence page with corrected information(Healing Word)
Test workflow bug reported against the released version of the software (Detect Poison and Disease)
Compose new email to one or more person (Guiding Bolt - attack spell.) Roll as a WIS check. If WIS check fails, take damage from the backlash.
Attend a meeting where I don't have to present or talk, but I do need to appear in the attendees list (Protection from Good and Evil)
Three Level 2 spells
Update actual code in IntelliJ with pull/push action (2 turns, but can be interrupted and resumed) (Lesser Restoration)
Test through a complex multi-point bug or a new feature against a JIRA ticket in the released software (Find Traps)
Attend a group meeting where I am expected to present part of the topic, but it will not need prior planning (Augury)
Three Level 3 spells
Convert an older Confluence page and rewrite it according to the new template (Animate Dead)
Investigate bug directly in the code, not just the front end (Clairvoyance)
Impromptu meeting with a person one on one in Slack (Sending)
Three Level 4 spells
Create new or modify existing icons in Photoshop (Stone Shape)
Create a new Confluence page from scratch (Divination)
Perform regression testing on an entire screen in the released version of the software (Death Ward)
Two Level 5 spells
Prepare a presentation for a meeting on my own where I am the sole speaker (costs 3 or more turns, cannot be interrupted without restarting) (Legend Lore)
Design the UI for a new feature or improvement in the development system of the software (Geas)
One Level 6 Spell
SQL work, either mapping tables, or performing queries for a client (Find the Path)
This spell also requires at least 2 turns to initiate and may take as long as 16 turns to cast successfully because our clients are unreasonable sometimes and our database is janky

I’ve worked in databases professionally for a number of years for companies large and small so there’s a few… notes here that make this hilarious to me:
First, If you honestly think that there’s “one” database that handles all this information for the most powerful country in the history of the world… I feel sorry for you buddy
Second, there can be a whole host of reasons why some field labeled “death” can be false, a few off the top of my head:
“DEATH” just means death of the record, not the person
Old/outdated data
Are there entries of NULL anywhere?
Are there any duplicates?
Is this database following normalization rules?
Can you tie any of this data to actual payouts?
Is this table actually used for that purpose?
Is this a down-stream table that is for a different kind of processing/reporting?
Databases can be a mess to work with and context matters here. Of course, given his tweet about how “the government doesn’t use sql” I’m willing to bet he doesn’t know a lick of what he’s talking about here.
It just makes me so mad because… I do this exact kind of work for a living and I would not for the LIFE of me just prance around talking about how this data is bad without some sort of justication that it’s a) relevant to discussions and b) I’m at least fairly confident this is the case
I wouldn’t trust in any way, shape, or form

Lying awake at night. Thinking about pomegranate trees i saw on my favorite seed site. I think one of my friends on steam died 2 years ago. I want to design a space bear furry. Rolling around a concept about mechas but theyre organic and modeled after cordyceps. Speaking of death, there's a good chance that someone I used to be extremely close to may die or has died and I don't really feel much about it because they allowed their freak of a boyfriend to verbally abuse me and claim i r///ped him in a past life, while im traumatized and hes.... Not. Lately ive been liking the program I use to store database and notes in less and less but i can't find any other program that comes close to its power. Maybe i should get around to learning sql???

SQL Interactive Websites
Hi! I wanted to share some websites that have helped me with bettering my SQL skills and are interactive, as in you can learn as you practice SQL on the website through an educational or fun way!
SQL Bolt
This website is one of the best for beginners to SQL as it helps with explaining the different SQL statements as well as giving brief interactive exercises for each explanation/topic. Additionally, it offers help on more intermediate topics as well such as subqueries. However, this site doesn’t have many resources on more advanced SQL topics, so it may not be best if you’re more intermediate in SQL, but could be good for a basics refresher.
SQL Zoo
This website is another one which is good for beginners to SQL as similarly to SQL Bolt, it primarily explains different SQL statements and queries. There are brief interactive exercises as well as quizzes on various SQL topics. Additionally, there are assessments for more advanced users of SQL to test their knowledge which consist of 15 questions for different databases, including dressmaker, musicians, help desk, and so forth.
Select Star SQL
This website is an interactive SQL exercise where you learn as you go while interacting with a database of death row patients. The difficulty of queries slowly increases as you go through the exercise. I find this website helpful as it threw me into SQL and I prefer the learning while doing method, especially with real-world data. This could potentially be triggering if you don’t want to read the details of people being on death row.
SQL Murder Mystery
This website is an interactive SQL exercise where you try to figure out who committed a murder using SQL. This website is good for both beginners and more intermediate SQL learners. It offers a walkthrough for people who are completely new to SQL. Alternatively, the website gives schema details to those experienced with SQL and want to figure it out on their own.
SQL Police Department
This website is similar to SQL Murder Mystery where you try to figure out police cases through learning SQL. It has prompts where you then use SQL to try to figure out the information the police need. The site also has a guide on SQL and gives basic summaries on different queries. I found this site fun to use and it has a cool interface. However, one con of this site is you can only do a certain amount of SQL queries before it asks you to pay for the longer version of the site.
Practice SQL
This website has been my personal favorite as the interface is clean and easy to understand. The website gives you prompts to use SQL to select from two different databases, the first of which is based on doctors and patients in different provinces while the the second is based on products and their orders as well as employees who work at the company. For both of these databases, there’s a series of prompts/questions from easy to intermediate to advanced SQL. Additionally, there’s learning resources which helps explain different queries and functions of SQL as well, if you’re confused or need help!
I hope you guys find these websites helpful!!

toward a metric to determine which pokemon are just little guys
abstract
we all know that some pokemon are just little guys. however there is a debate when it comes to what constitutes a "little guy." for example, some pokemon are little guys, like budew, while others are just little guys, like sableye. pokemon in the former sense of the category are fairly well known and beloved by all for their cuteness, while those in the latter category are typically chanced upon and admired for only brief periods at a time. in this paper we propose the beginning of a framework to classify which pokemon are "just little guys" in the latter sense, with the goal of making this class of pokemon more well known to all.
results
it may not be traditional to put the results section here but in the interest of not boring everyone to death, we shall announce them here. you may read on for methodology and analysis if you so wish.
pokemon that are just little guys tend to be those in the humanshape egg group, who are less than or equal to 10 decimeters in height, and whose gender ratio as a species is 50% male or more. in generations I-VIII, the list of pokemon that meet this criteria are the following:
Tumblr media
methodology
to determine which pokemon are just little guys, we use a database generated by veekun/pokedex that we can query to find pokemon with the qualities we determine.
pokemon have egg groups, that are largely determined by their overall shape. some examples of egg groups include "monster," "bug," "fairy," or "plant." we determined that a good starting point to find pokemon that are just little guys is the "fairy" egg group.
Tumblr media
this query yielded a number of pokemon, but it quickly became clear that aside from a few outliers (namely impidimp and morgrem), this was not the right starting point after all. to determine a better starting point, it was decided to consider a pokemon already known to be just a little guy, sableye, and use its egg group---humanshape.
Tumblr media
the results of this query were more promising, containing a number of pokemon that are definitely just little guys, such as abra, makuhita, and croagunk. to further refine our results, we must consider next that pokemon who are just little guys should be little (note that it was for this reason that the queries shown so far included pokemon height in the results). upon visual inspection, it appeared that a "good" height limit was 10 decimeters.
Tumblr media
this list correctly filters some pokemon who, while they may be just guys, are not just little guys, like kadabra, cacturne, or hariyama. however, there is still more refining that can be done at this point, namely in the number of false positive pokemon who are clearly just little girls, like gothita. to remedy this, we can consider the observed gender rate of wild pokemon of each species.
Tumblr media
an inspection of the gender rate for each of the candidate pokemon species reveals that any rate greater than 4 (units in this dataset are unclear, but 4 appears to be a 50% male/female ratio) represents a pokemon that is just a little girl, rather than just little guys. by filtering pokemon with a gender rate of more than 4, we come to our final query for this study.
Tumblr media
analysis
while this metric has made good progress toward accurately quantifying which pokemon are just little guys, there is still work to be done. this study was focused on filtering out false positives from the base criteria, while there are almost certainly false negatives still in the pokedex who must also be classified.
acknowledgements
this study would not have been possible without the amazing work done by veekun, eevee, et. al on their pokedex database conversion tool. it would also not have been possible without my wonderful girlfriend who indulged me in remembering how to write SQL queries and working through the filtering criteria even though we had made plans to watch succession together :)

There's just something about a professional-level workshop that brings a feeling of joy to my heart. The originator of that feeling, naturally, is a giant red "emergency stop" button. I might not ever hit it (statistics show that even in an emergency, most coworkers will just point and laugh as someone is getting ate up in the machine) but it's the one feature that draws the line between an amateur suburban-garage shithole and a place where no work gets done because everyone is constantly in safety meetings - thus allowing me to sneak onto the shop floor while they're distracted and run off a few parts before the shop steward can hear it and chase me out.
It got me to thinking about all the other places I’d like to see an emergency stop button. Every day, we are surrounded by a ton of machines that do need a way to reliably stop them from whatever they are doing, but because they do not pose the same obvious and imminent hazard to human life that a $59 scroll saw threatens, we don't bother hooking them up to big red buttons. Still not convinced? Pop quiz, hot-shot: does Ctrl-C work on your SQL client when you accidentally forget a WHERE clause on your big UPDATE statement? The big red button wouldn't be nearly so ambiguous, and mashing it would immediately stop you from accidentally overwriting the CEO’s Tinder profile with “TEST penis penis penis.” Of course, it would also knock out power to the entire shop floor, and ideally cost a fair amount of money to replace, but you can’t put a price on safety. Plus, it feels good to hit it, which has to end up as some kind of emotional benefit that doesn’t show up on paper. Bam!
The closest analogue we currently have to the big red button in cars is the hazard switch. True, it doesn’t shut the car off and stop any active fires that are roaring in the engine bay, but on a lot of cars the button blinks along with the turn signals and that’s pretty cute. For our European-car-driving friends, it gives you the power to park wherever you want. Self-driving cars are going to be a whole new ballpark. We don’t know what’s going on inside their miles of silicon bullshit, and even if we did we wouldn’t be paying attention to it because Seinfeld can be watched on phones now. Milliseconds count in these life-or-death driving situations, and when your gleaming electric cough-drop is about to run over a grandmother of fourteen, you can’t be trying to close the climate control menu in order to get to the menu you have to scroll in order to get to the self-driving settings. No, you want a big red button. Dead centre of the dashboard. Mash that shit, the robot takes a nap, and Miss Marple lives for another few hip replacements. Maybe it also blinks a little, while I’m writing out my wish list.
All this discussion about the emergency stop button has convinced me that I need one for my own garage after all. Sure, I don’t really have anything to hook up to it, but it will make me feel a lot better about not getting off my ass to finish any projects if I push that button first. Sorry boss, the button has spoken.

update 4/27/21:
I'm working at a startup so it's extremely busy. but I love my job! i am trying to find the time to fit writing in my schedule tho. gonna figure it out someday lol. my stories are not abandoned, don't worry. all the endings and plot points have been planned. i'm just struggling to find the time to write atm. still very grateful for all the kind words and support you guys have given me over the years. hope all of you are out there living your best lives, exploring, learning, and finding joy in all the little things 😊 join my tag list (read the instructions pls) to get notified when I update my fics!
//
previous big update:
hello! i know i’ve been sort of mia but… it’s been an absolutely chaotic time for me.
the (long) story goes a little something like this:
earlier this year during spring break, i had friends who convinced me to give america a shot and apply for jobs after grad. i really didn’t want to because the visa process is a pain and it costs a lot. also, not a lot of companies want to hire internationals so it’s very demoralizing to receive a million rejections… but my friends are very persuasive people lol.
so it was super hectic during the last few months I had in the country as i tried to get through the visa process, study, work, beef up my resume, apply for jobs and graduate at the same time. (i understand that a ton of people have to do this too… but it’s hard y’all). anyway, one Medium article, one cold email, and a number of grueling interviews later, i found out i got a job!
now i just had to convince my parents… this was actually in all honesty, the most stressful part. i love them to death but my father really made it feel like i was choosing between my family and a job and ngl i cried myself to sleep on the regular. in the end, he finally gave me the okay to take the job but i know he’s still very upset. that’s honest to god the worst part. (my mum’s been super supportive tho so i guess that’s the silver lining in all of this!)
prior to getting the job though, I was really in limbo. I had returned to my home country because I and by extension, my parents, were not confident that i was going to be able to land a job in the US. I was very confused because I was neither here nor there. I was interviewing with the american company from my home country, trying my best to make sure they’d still be interested in me as a candidate no matter how many hurdles there were. then, to ensure that I had a safety net, I was also doing interviews locally and sending out resumes whenever I could. I was exhausted. and I know everyone goes through the job hunt so it’s equally as exhausting for everyone but yeah it was not a fun time.
anyway so now that I took that job in america i gotta move halfway across the world again, but this time without financial support and i don’t know… maybe this is the first time i’ll be truly independent and ya im seconds away from shittin myself. really gotta put on my big girl pants and try to not be broke yeet yeet.
but uhh that’s the low down on why i haven’t been able to write much at all…….. and yeah! working on it tho… haha always working on it.
to end all of this, I just want to say that I’m super lucky to have all of you. I basically got the job because of that article I wrote. I know I sound like a broken record talking about my article over and over but I dunno I guess all of this is just a little wild to me ahah.
I owe a lot of my confidence in my writing to all of you. I personally think my writing improved bc of this blog and the support you guys give me is… unreal (“: I know it may seem insignificant to some of you to reblog/like and comment on a fic but it really spurs me creatively and makes me feel sort of confident about my writing. all of that is probably why I didn’t think twice about hitting that post button on my article. although it’s a very different type of writing… I don’t know it’s just knowing that my writing is worth something… knowing that my writing is worth taking 5 minutes out of your day to read, is pretty cool and you guys kind of gave me that! (i am in no way saying that my writing is the best thing on earth. far from it. but i think you guys understand what i’m trying to say!)
so in some way, you guys helped me get a job! nice work team hahahah. also, also i just want to say, never give up. I decided I wanted to try my luck at the American job market maybe around the end of March and graduation was in early May. so I had about more or less a month to do something. I knew I needed a way to set myself apart from everyone else because my gpa wasn’t stellar and I hadn’t had any internships in America. not to mention the fact that I was an international student hence it was even harder to get hired. so basically, why would a company pick me over the next person? I thought perhaps knowing how to code was the way to give myself an edge so I learned some basic python and sql but then I realized there wasn’t really an impressive project I could attempt within that short time frame and I also knew far too little to do anything anyway. this meant that I was back at square one.
so, I switched gears instead. I sat down and really thought about what I could do. I concluded that at the very least, I could write. I knew I could write so I needed something that I could use along with my writing and I was like… it’s gotta be data! knowing that, I picked up the basics on how to use Tableau and I also picked up VBA macros in excel (if you don’t know what this is… I think you should Google it. it will literally blow your mind. excel can do a lot more than you can imagine). Then, I picked what I wanted to write my article on, got the data I needed from google trends, used vba macros to make the calculations faster, used tableau to make charts based on the data and photoshop to spice up the charts and etc. I did my research in the meantime as well and had a rough plan on what I was going to write about. after this, it was all systems go and it went a little like this:
wrote the article. attached my charts. linked the links. hit that post button. applied to all the jobs & companies that I thought would see value in what I did and can do. got rejected many times. felt discouraged. did more searching on companies that were willing to hire internationals. decided to send a cold email to a company. ACTUALLY HEARD BACK. went through multiple interviews. ACTUALLY GOT THE JOB.
so guys, never give up. recognize your strengths and build around that. if you think you don’t have any strengths, look harder. if you still feel you don’t have any, make the effort to learn something. it’s never too late for anything. I did all of that in one month and 10 days (the learning stuff and writing the article thing I mean). always be open to learning. I say this so much irl that my friends are sick of it but in this day and age with the internet, you can literally learn anything. so please, learn. learn for fun, learn for whatever reason. learn anything. you’ll never know when it’ll come in handy. like my basic Photoshop that I learned just so I could make a header for my blog… literally used that skill for the graphics in my article lol.
anyway, you can achieve a lot more than you think you can. you just gotta throw caution to the wind and do your own thing. be determined, be proactive. if things aren’t going the way you think it should be, do something to change that. you are all amazing and capable of great things! I hope you all know that. my mum always said if you never try, you’ll never know. don’t be afraid, don’t stop to think about what other people will think of you. keep doing you. people doubt you enough so don’t add to that. keep your head held high and keep moving forward.
once again I want to thank you guys for being sort of a support system for me! every comment, nice ask and sweet message has brought me this far. i really mean it (’: always be nice and supportive my sweet dumplings. your words truly have impact!

Confessions Of A Novice Video Gamer
The third level is set in space, where you must escape the planet surface in the Millennium Falcon and destroy the Tie Fighters chasing you, each kill accompanied by a cheer from Chewbacca. The third arcade release set in the Star Wars universe sees Atari go back in time, to a previous episode in the series as well as to the vector graphics format of the original game. Keen Star Wars fans will notice that the Death Star is actually the second Death Star featured in Return of the Jedi, not the one from the original Star Wars film. If the standard stand-up version of the Star Wars arcade game were not exciting enough, there was also an inspired special edition cabinet that allowed gamers to actually sit inside the game, like climbing into your very own X-Wing ship. There some great games on the PS3, best game on the PS3? I messed up the skeletons before, so I have to reinstall the game. I have never before been so moved and captivated while playing a video game. Journey employs an orchestral soundtrack that is truly unique, and syncs with the game seamlessly.
The highlight of this game or games is its wonderful complexity. Playing the games in 3D is different. Obviously this is not the end of good games to play. You can play any of the missions over and over again to help you advance your rank. It debuted on March 2012, over the PlayStation Network. Despite never being as popular as the X-Box or PlayStation 2 and also having a reputation is a 'console for kiddies' there were plenty of worthy titles developed for the unit. To illustrate, if you refer to the section pertaining to Cartoony Toons, there is an example of three images that are stripped-down cartoon faces without bodies and we are informed that is all a character needs. Adobe Dreamweaver, Microsoft FrontPage, are examples of web development software. If you feel that, your skills go beyond Adobe flash then take a close look at Maya or Autodesk is its common name. Each time you level up you can then improve your action skill. Some key frames are specified at extreme positions, where others are spaced such that the time interval between them is not too large. Star Wars was such a popular movie series, I have no doubt all of these games are riveting!
Nowadays, filmmakers rely so much on animation to bring their scripts to life on the movie screen. Multimedia: Movie Edit Pro, Sony ACID Music Studio and Maya. I'm not sure how to describe how superb this game really is, words escape me. That is, he or she first draws the first frame of the animation, then the second, and so on until the sequence is complete. An artist or cartoonist is this case will dream up a character then draw it. Exaggeration, for instance, can be used in poses to draw attention to what the character is doing. Its main aim is to draw the attention of the audience to the most relevant action, personality, expression or a mood in a scene so that it is easily recognizable. The 2nd and 3rd waves feature the Hoth battle scene from the Empire Strikes Back, and a final showdown with Darth Vader from the Return of the Jedi, as well as the destruction of the second Death Star.
The gameplay of Empire Strikes Back followed a similar theme to Star Wars, replaced with classic scenes from Episode 5, starting on the surface of the Ice Planet Hoth. Functionality: The idea behind using a three-dimensional scanner is creating a Point Cloud of the Geometric Samples on the subjects surface. Relational database management systems like SQL, Cloud SQL and Oracle are used in complex installations to manage vast data and ensure data integrity. Security and client identification systems. Custom applications are tweaked to suit the changing demands of the client organization. General purpose applications are designed as feature-full packages while custom software are tailor-made for a client. Wordpress, Joomla and Drupal are dynamic web creation tools which are installed offline on localhosts or online on web server platforms. They work on top of browsers and use crawling or spider-like scripts to search for user requests from every corner of the world wide web.
Web apps are installed and/or run on web browsers. It also permits a user to access websites that are usually blocked in ordinary browsers. In this case lesser people are involved and the production cycle is shorter and tighter. Watch people and things around you to find out how character transports through movement. For example, a bouncing ball tends to have a lot of ease in and out when at the top of its bounce. Top Notch software have features to covey this function alone. Thus, while creating an animation sequence, the animator should try to have motion following curved paths rather than straight line paths. The shots may come easy but the motion and lighting sets the difference between an average animator and a pro. While online looking for video reviews, I noticed some other future games that I may try, such as Crysis 2, Rage, and Mass Effect.

Will you be returning to work? I'm currently pregnant as well with my first so don't have first hand experience, but many people choose to pump in the beginning to have a back up supply and also so that dad or other family members can feed the baby if mom needs a break. A friend of mine pumps at least one bottle a day so that she can sleep for a longer stretch and dad can handle the first nighttime feeding. That being said if pumping isn't for you, there are plenty of people who don't do it at all.. Fear of the pain and consequences and unsuccessful attempt might result in. 진안출장안마 Suicide isn't easy without access to a gun or effective pharmaceuticals that might result in a 진안출장안마 relatively painless death. It is definitely possible to be successful at suicide with limited resources, but also very easy to miscalculate, and end up with a lot of pain and regret and in a worse situation I started out in (and still alive and even more miserable).. I don't know how is your financial situation, but by the little said, I'm assuming, not financial settled ( by settle don't mean having $1million saved in bank account ). Don't buy a house until you fully hear his baby steps and understand the reasoning of each. Please, I beg you, for your own good, listen to him few times, he's on podcast, YouTube, has a book. Drones surveil these scenes for a long time. Many drone operators have related the stress of multiple hour missions over the same area involving long waits before any action, attacks that are over fairly quickly, then having to remain in the area and assess the damage. They have also talked about watching the white heat of formerly living targets fading to match the background.. It takes a while to get used to for sure. I almost never used to train while I was searching for a game, but I started slamming the ball around in free play and I went from C1 to C3 in a day (I was champ for 3 seasons before this lol) it helped me stay focused and helped my speed out. Biggest mistake I see is lack of passing. During World War II, car starved America dined on a steady diet of futuristic new designs not unlike that of the Mercury Turnpike Cruiser, cars that presumably would appear as soon as peace returned. Some might even fly. Above all, the postwar car would be loaded with wonders derived from wartime technology. The one at 21 days is a Kangaskhan that I dropped to play with a Blissey because I thought it was cute they both had little joey pouches and made for a fun screenshot for my collection. It not an area I know well, but I figured she wouldn be there long because it a visitor center off a busy freeway. And the Blissey had only been there about 45 minutes. He even talked smack to Einstein at one point! haha. I love science and the universe and I happen to believe in god too. Some say that is impossible because science nullifies religion, but, I don feel that way. Aludra Inc. The MMA Combine - Tell Me When It's Over
More than a decade ago, I made a fight team after a superlative performance at a MMA combine, despite having 5 months off of training.
Save for my crappy shadowboxing and cardio at the end of the combine, I looked like a superstar: I clowned my partners at will, not using the same takedown or sub more than once and working my striking game at leisure.
Tumblr media
(Me [in the headgear] playing around nicely with takedowns)
I had 20 different takedowns in a three minute takedowns-only match, everyone I rolled with got subbed more than three times in the three minutes round.  In the full the MMA match portion, after taking a massive knee to the head, I secured a takedown and walked through his ground work like it wasn’t there and intentionally waited for the last ten seconds of the match to beat him by a standing leglock.
After it all concluded, while I was exhaustion-vomiting in the bathroom after, the head of the team told me I got the backup 170lb spot out of 10+ candidates, but only because my cardio was trash and my shadowboxing looked embarrassing. Still, if I could get my cardio up, the top spot was mine, because no one could stay on their feet against me and no one could stop my submission skills.
But, I had just finally started my real career, and I was working 47+ hours a week salaried at 28k a year. Yes, I criminally underbid on my pay in jobless-desperation, but this was at the start of a national depression that started 2 years early in Detroit. I also was over 30 and hadn’t trained more than twice a week in five years.
At this time more than any other, I was a part-timer in the sport at best: I was out of shape and rusty as death. I did the combine as a joke and as a favor to the head of the MMA team I trained with - I didn’t think I’d make the team. So on the long drive back, I knew it was over before it began.
Ultimately the team never amounted to anything - it was to be a state level amateur MMA group for the IFL and the IFL folded months later.
I later found out later that the people I was clowning while I huffing & puffing were amateur MMA champs in local promotions, .500 level mma pros with less than 8 fights and young hotshots and older killers from gyms all over.
That Saturday of the combine, I closed my SQL management console at work, fell off my office chair, wandered into the gym and felt like the entire world were mooks in an action movie and I was the star. I was literally punching miles above my weight and looked somehow amazing doing it. And despite that, it wasn’t enough - I chose my career.
Do I regret it? Sometimes, but I’m now living in a foreign country much more to my political bent, my work is fulfilling, my brain is minimally bashed up and other than some minor shoulder & knee issues, I have my health and my part time limb cranking for fun.
The one who got me to do the combine, Bellator fighter Dom O’Grady, well, he isn’t with us anymore and his team the Hate Squad have all moved on to normal lives.

Since then I watched amateur MMA transform to levels unheard in pro MMA fighting of when I started in this crazy sport back in May of 1997.
Amateur fighters training 6 days a week, doing two-a-days at multiple gyms plus lifting & road work. 30+ hours a week of training, if not more. Some are even using blood doping and IV rehydration with the help of local nurses.
Long gone are the days of pro fighters doing a rough steroid cycles, ECA & training 2-3 days a week. You can’t even be a part timer in the amateur ranks of MMA anymore, as a current ATT fighter and droog showed me.
This story isn’t unusual. There are tons of gym killers, supernaturally talented outliers and old school killers out there that never quite made it. Most have dropped out of the game entirely, or lurk at the edges like I do.
Injuries, kids, illness, career, whatever. We drop off one by one, trading one dream or passion for another - less spectacular one, without it being our choice.
Enjoy it while you can.
