Not saying it is...but what if Babygirl kinda went off...

Having some bird robe thoughts and feelings today.
It's arguably the most feminine item of clothing we see Stede wear. It's beautiful and pink and flowery and soft - all the things that Stede has been bullied for since he was a child.
It makes its first appearance in 1x07 when Stede brings Ed a cup of morning tea. He's not afraid that Ed will mock him for wearing it - he knows that Ed appreciates the finer, softer things just as much as he does. (And they're friends now - officially and everything!)
Of course we see it next when CJ arrives, and he clocks it straight away ('who's the big gal?' - and there's a whole other post there for another day).
But what really makes my heart sing is that Stede's response to Jack's bullying is not to stash the robe away, as maybe he once would have done.
No, he marches straight up to CJ wearing that same pretty, flowery, feminine robe and he orders him off the ship (top 3 sexy Stede moment right there).
It's such a fantastic costuming choice for this moment. It speaks volumes about Stede's growing confidence and self-acceptance.
Oh bird robe - let us not forget that before you were the depression robe, you were the ass-kicking robe 💪

Another small photo manip for my Happy Izzy collection. Izzy in a robe. The man deserves some relaxing time (and you can choose who is with him in the room again, just off-camera 😉).

in a completely non-joking, genuinely narrative and writing analysis way, i do seriously believe we may get to "see" stede and ed have sex this season. there have been 2 explicit and one kinda implied mentions/discussions of sex so far: the first is obviously when ed tells ghost Hornigold how two of the pros of choosing to live are "intercourse" (nerd) and orgasms. on the one hand, yes, that's an easy joke to make that will be sure to get a laugh out of it. on the other hand, the writers could have literally written anything else in the entire world. they have so many options for other jokes that would've landed just as well or better than what they went with, and yet they chose to have Ed mention those two things. how interesting. the second example is, of course, anne and mary ribbing Ed and Stede about them clearly not having sex or any sexual experiences with each other yet. again, there are sooooooo many ways the writers could drive home how deranged those two buckwild lesbians are and yet they went with the call out on the status of Ed and Stede doing it. very interesting indeed. The last, more amorphous example is Ed breaking his kiss with Stede and asking if they can take things slow. granted, that could be related to a bunch of different things that aren't sex related, however we know Stede has already basically confessed how in love with Ed he is to his face and they were already best friends basically as soon as they met each other, which starts to narrow down the options for what Ed is referring to pretty quickly. he also only broke the kiss after Stede grabbed Ed to intensify the kiss which further supports this theory. sooooo tl;dr - i think we're gonna see those two middle aged dads do it bc the writers have been seeing the seeds for the past 3 eps

Something very special came in the mail today, something I ordered several months ago, which I figured would arrive during a time of celebration:
Don't get me wrong, I'm super happy. This robe is incredibly well made. It's vibrant. It's soft. It's literally made of dreams.
I refuse to call this my breakup robe.
I ordered it because, to me, this robe isn't about Ed and Stede's breakup. It symbolizes the growth and love they both share. It represents the times when Ed allowed himself to experience softness.
This robe is my battle robe, truly. I'm wearing this bad boi as I make calls, write letters, and type up a million billion comments and emails. This robe symbolizes a time when our fandom has formed a united front. This robe is filled with love and tenderness and toughness.
Anyway, I got really emotional when I opened the package today and saw this familiar fabric. Sending you all love as we keep fighting the good fight 🖤⚔️
