ok. so. hear me out.

1.20 dead man’s blood. there have been two scenes with john so far. in each one, john gives an order, sam questions it, and dean tries to stop him. when john goes off to talk to the cops, sam complains about not going over with him. dean says “oh, don’t tell me it’s already starting.” and sam’s like “what’s starting?” and then john comes back.

now, third scene in a row: john gives an order, and sam asks how he’s so sure. dean says “sam.” warning/begging, but sam insists. so john gives the evidence to dean, and explains himself to dean. but he says “any more questions?” like a challenge, to sam. then as he’s walking back to his truck, john says, kinda nonchalant, “and dean, why don’t you touch up your car? ‘fore you get rust. i wouldn’ta given you the damn thing if i thought you were gonna ruin it.”

i’m probably reading too much into this but it feels like a dig at dean for “letting” sam question him. reminding dean that it’s his job to keep sam in line. before you get rust; sam is rusty at following orders, and dean is rusty at keeping him in line. john trusts dean with these important things, the car and sam, and he better not ruin them. john gave “the damn thing” to him, and he can take it back, if dean doesn’t prove worthy of his trust.

and then in the scene immediately after, sam is complaining about dad not telling them what he thinks, and dean says “so it is starting.” and then he tries to convince sam to just go along with what dad says, which just makes sam pissed that dean isn’t annoyed as well. it’s not fair to sam, but he doesn’t even realize that this is a Thing, that It Starting again means that dean has yet another full time job, one that he can’t do without disappointing half of his family. dean’s probably already wondering whether it will be sam or dad that leaves this time, and knowing it’ll be his fault either way.

My only valid excuse for not falling in love with Finnick when I saw Catching Fire 10 years ago is that I was too busy falling in love with Beetee.

Other than that, I was stupid and wrong and there is room in my heart for both of these men.

sometimes it’s a lil hard to switch gears into a sam chapter because you’ll get brienne, jaime, cersei, arianne, and sansa back to back for like 15 chapters and it’s nothing but politics or fallout of the war constantly and then theres a screech as the narrative takes a left turn detour into Sam & Gilly having a terrible horrible no good very bad day and not interacting with the greater plot at ALL and you’re like aemon stop giving sad monologues I AM NOT IN THE RIGHT HEAD SPACE DAMMIT

AHHH... the fact that sam actually reads the journal instead of just burning it, just to be really thorough, and discovers it's the painting that needs to be burned instead via the context clues... so he doesn't have to burn the firsthand account journal from a woman in 1520s florence... or the rest of her belongings... this makes my museum work oriented brain (and heart) extremely happy.

missing sam ads is always a double edged sword of 'didnt have to witness sam ad' and 'lives with the haunting unknown of not knowing what happened during sam ads'

i like the implication in 7.03 that sam had to do the research for john and dean, probably to protect him and keep him out of harm's way. which means that he's not necessarily bookish by choice but by circumstance. dad-assigned nerd (sam) and jock (dean)

four more until inversion! ive listened to Sam, Vincent, David, Freelancer s1 and I'm on number 14 of Fs2. Just wondering if there's anything else besides maybe milo and asher that would be necessary to the inversion plot.

I know that the Imperium series says it's an AU, but it seems like some points have come up in canon? Does Echo's have anything important?

i hope dean’s concern with rowena doesn’t go to an extreme. this has similar underpinnings to the sam / benny and dean / amy pond drama. otherwise, i am glad we’re continuing to get even more snippets of sam’s inner turmoil. his confession to rowena was a big wake up call and, like an inverted version of dean’s grief this season, as long as lucifer is alive, or people he cares about are hurt, he won’t be able to rest.
