YO! New supernatural fic idea just dropped!

Okay, so I wanna write a saileen regency au with (backgroud destiel) bc i don't have enough of my fave hetero relationship in my life.

trigger warning: abelism, because this is ye olden times and eileen is very much deaf. also, child neglect.

in this au, a 28 year old Sam of the quite well off Winchester family just came home from stuying and college and his father wants him to get married.

(dean is already married, to charlie of all people. dean has a special gentleman friend, named Castiel of the Shurly family and Charlie has a favoured lady compagnion, named Dorthy. it's a lavender marriage, Sam knows this, and he's just happy that dean is happy.)

(Adam is also in this fic, he's the boys half brother from the new wife of John, named Kate. Adam's gonna run off to Itally and get married to the eldest son of the very rich and influential Shurly family, named Michael.)

Next to the Winchester estate is the Leahy estate. The Leahy family was a decently good family who's status decresed when their eldest daughter, Eileen, was discovered to be deaf, which was a great scandal.

The poor girl was basically outcast from her family. they couldn't actually throw her out, because that would be even worse of a scandal, so they just kind of send her away out of sight.

They essentially make her the responsibility of the forest keeper Lillian O'gardy (the daughter of the previous forest keeper) Eileen is sent tutors to be taught everything she needs to know but is otherwise barely near the rest of her family, nor is she in polite society.

Lillian also teaches Eileen how to hunt and live in the forest. and even though she isn't the best to the girl, and clearly sees her as a burden, she's the only one Eileen has. Safe to say that she is devestated when Lillian dies when Eileen is 16.

After that, Eileen gets to come back to the rest of the Leahy family mansion, because keeping her hidden would be worse for the family. Still, Eileen 'sneaks' out to go back to the cabin in the woods at the edge of the estate for days if not weeks at a time, and her family barely realizes that she's gone. That's the situation there.

Now enter Sam. Sam got into a fight with his dad and decided to take a walk around the forest to calm his head (both the winchester boys were often pawned off to the winchester forest keeper, bobby, as John wanted to spend more one on one time with his new wife and son. So Sam and Dean are both very familiar with the forest)

When Sam is several miles out it suddenly startes storming like nobody's ever fucking seen before and to keep from getting soaked and probably dying from fucking phemonia or something, he deicides to seek shelter in the nearby forest keepers cabin on the Leahy estate (that's how far he walked)

He assumes it's empty. it is not. Eileen is in there, and she has a gun.

Long story short, Sam falls in love the second this woman put a gun to his chest and demands to see his hands. it is love at first life threat.

anyhow, they introduce, sam realizes Eileen is deaf and starts asking questions bc he's a curious dude. He already knows some sighn language (not much) from collage. Eileen is more then happy to show him.

due to the storm, they are stuck inside and become friends. (eventually when it's time for bed, Sam takes the small couch, since he's not about to crawl into bed with a woman, that would be the worst scandal this part of the county ever saw! the fact that they are talking without a chaperone present is already very very bad)

Anyhow. They become friends and decide to meet up at the cabin more often to hunt together, since sam really wants to see what that riffle do and Eileen would also like to see this handsome, kind gentleman with a gun in his hands (the competence kink goes both ways)

months go by. both fall madly in love. neither of them do anything because society was STRICT back then and that would be akin sodomy. they both keep their hands well to themselves.

Sam picks up sing language pretty fast and Eileen is pleasantly surprised by the fact that this very handsome, kind and well bred man would want to learn such things. Sam is respectful, funny, and wants to listen to her opinions. he treats her as an equal, not as lesser then himself or a sex object or a dim witted child like most do. they assume she can't think for herself just because she can't hear.

On the other hand, Eileen is stunningly beautiful, optimistic and likes jokes, very smart and strong willed. she is opinionated and not at all afraid to put Sam on his ass. not only that but she's a mean fucking shot and not scared to get her hands dirty. she listens to him as much as he listens to her, and like already said, Sam fell for her the moment she pointed a gun at him.

eventually, eileens family recognizes that Eileen needs to mary, and eileen is terrefied that she is to be paired with some disgusting old man because no sensible, well bred gentleman would want a woman who is this deficient.

She tells sam and sam is like 'If you want me to, i can dance with you all night and nobody will bother you.'

Eileen, verry much in love is like 'Say less.'

the night rolls around, and it's the winchester family who is coincidentally hosting this ball, so sam has to be a good son along with his brothers (and sister in law) and wait as his father greets their guests. Point is, he is there when eileen walks in for the first time and like.

thus far, he has only seen eileen in dull hunting clothes, while covered in dirt, gunpowder and animal blood. He is Not prepared at all to see her all cleaned and dolled up and in a gown. Eileen is so stunning Sam almost goes to one or both knees then and there.

on the flipside, Eileen has also never seen Sam all cleaned up for a ball, she has also only seen him in hunting gear or soaking wet from the rain. she is also wholy unprepared how nicely her friend cleans up.

their eyes meet accross the ballroom, eileen smiles out of instict upon seeing Sam, and Sam straight up almost faints on the spot.

Dean, who is standing next to him is like dude? what? and then remembers all the times Sammy raved about the eileen woman he met in the woods and he's like Ahhhh, right, you're in love, got it.

those two dance all night long. none of the disgusting old men eileens family had in mind for her even get half a chance to get close to her. after all, sam is an objectively better catch then any of them. he's young, handsome, rich, well bred, ridiculously well educated, and from a great family. now that dean is of the market, sam might be one of the most sought after eligible young gentlemen other then the shurley family. (the shurley's are the riches, most powerful family there. they're basically royalty.)

not only that, whenever sam is obligated to dance with someone who isn't eileen (not often), dean personally makes sure she's okay, because he cannot have his future sister in law be freaked out by some creep. either he himself, his 'friend' castiel or his brother adam dance with her. (cas has to bribe adam with promising to figure out if Michael is queer, after that he does it gladly)

even when talking, those three and charlie, of course form a barrier between eileen/sam, and whomever decides it's a good idea to disrupt them.

those two spend all night talking and dancing and it's great.

at the end of the night, they talk on a balcony for a little, (charlie is also there, to chaparone) and they decide that they do want to start courting because they have liked eachother for a very long time.

Even better, john thinks it's just one of sam's little rebellions, to go for the defective girl to get under his skin, so he just decides to wait it out until sam stops out of boredom.

then next few months, sam and eileen start properly courting. visiting, promenading, the whole nine yards. The leahy's try once of twice to push one of eileens younger sisters towards sam, since they are not 'defected'

the only thing sam talks about when with eileens sisters is eileen.

he is being so obnoxiously clear with the fact that he's courting eileen, it's almost indecent. Sam is so in love and so is eileen and they are showing it off to fucking everybody.

mind you, they do not stop hunting together either, they fully keep meeting up at the cabin to hunt deer and pheasant and rabbit and all that.

eventually, John realizes that sam is not, in fact joking. Sam is being dead serious and John is almost beyond himself. How dare he. How dare sam trying to unite their great house with a defected girl.

anyhow, the bastard tries to break them up by refusing to sit down with the Leahy's to arrange their engagement, going so far as to threaten to have Sam be declared mentally unwell for being in love with a broken woman.

Sam, being a law student, does not take this sitting down. he knew his dad was going to do this. he prepared for this. he basically tells john all the ways in which he is independently wealthy (mothers inheritance wich john can't touch, his own investments and the fact that he is very well tought) not only that, but john can't prove Sam is crazy, but sam can very much prove he is sound of mind by just writing to some of his old professors and peers and having them testify.

even if john writes him out of the will, sam would rather be a begger with eileen by his side, then be the richest man without her. but hat won't happen, because like stated, sam is independantly wealthy and has the means to make more money.

Not only that, but eileen is in the room when this talk is had. And eileen is not about to let anyone talk to her to be husband like that. she goes offffff on the fucker. swearing shouting threatening, and when john throws a fit about it eileen sneers "what are you going to do about it? tell everyone a broken girl bested you, that you got yelled at by me? they still think I'm daft. Nobody will believe you when you say I told you to suck my nuts."

John's the kind of man to only respect strength so he gotta respect that, and he eventually backs down, agreeing to the proposal.

they get married and it's the happiest day in their lives. they move out to a smaller house on a larger estate with a huge forest like the one they fell in love with, and they live happely ever after.

I would love to see a fic that is dean dying after Cas’s confession cut to Sam raising Dean jr. To Dean jr looking up his name online and finding out the person he was named after was deemed dead like 15 times and on the fbi most wanted list and goes home and is like Daaaaad? Who was uncle dean?

Cas would ask Dean if he'd still love him if he were a worm and Dean would be like "Uh. Yeah, sure man. 'Course I will" and think that would be the end of that but then Cas would go on to explain, very seriously, in extreme detail, about how he would also love Dean if he ever turned into a worm and how he'd do everything in his power to keep him healthy and alive and what he'd put in his "enclosure" and Dean would grow increasingly worried and think that, genuinely, Cas is going to turn him into a worm by the end of this to prove how great of a worm guardian he is

Meanwhile Sam would ask if Rowena and Eileen would still love him if he were a worm and they'd say yeah and they'd do their best to care for him but probably squish him by accident and he's content with that

Fortunately, the limit is very high, so I won't need to split it any time soon. In my opinion, playlists are currently one of the best ways to find fan videos on YouTube. Especially for less popular or older fandoms or smaller creators. If you have one created for SPN, I encourage you to reblog or comment under this post with the link. Let's spread the love for vids and vidders and help each other find hidden gems.

Also, please, if you like any of the videos, don't get discouraged by the fact that they're old. Like, save and make comments. I have yet to find a creator who isn't happy when people interact with their older creations. It can make someone's day. Who knows, maybe it will motivate them to dust off their skills and love for the fandom, if they have time.

Ugh, why did they cut this? This is the type of family shenanigans we sorely wanted. Dean and Eileen teaming up to tease Sam, Cas smiling fondly. Peak brother/sister-in-law dynamic. ❤️

In my ongoing denial of the finale, I'll choose to assume this happened some time after they got Cas back and are settling into a happily ever after.

So, openly bisexual Eileen*, right? And you know she's pointed out hot girls to Sam before, even proposed they try a threesome one day. And maybe when Sam is trying to get Dean to admit he’s in love with Cas, Sam brings up Eileen’s bisexuality to try and make his point and make Dean feel better, but things get mixed around thanks to Dean cutting him off and Sam getting flustered and moping off. And now Dean thinks 1. Sam is the bisexual one and 2. he over hears/sees Eileen and Sam discuss a potential threesome and 3. sees Sam and Eileen talking to Cas a LOT recently and comes to the conclusion that they are trying to either proposition Cas into bed or even worse! (for Dean) welcome Cas in as their permanent Third

And like, Dean is already having issues accepting his feelings for Cas for both his own internal denial of his sexuality and his own insecurities about if he’s good enough for Cas. Now he has to try and make a move on Cas AND steal him away from the person Dean's raised and grown up giving everything he could to? But really hasn’t Dean given Sam enough? How could Sam do this?!? But doesn’t Cas deserve all the love and support he can get and wouldn’t it be selfish of Dean to trap him with the someone as big a mess as Dean rather then going being with the 2 best people Dean that would be like, triply selfish, right?

(Eileen and Sam have been trying to get Cas to make a move and confess to Dean as well, but he’s less argumentative so they have been having longer heart to hearts with sappy movies and ice cream together to help Cas commiserate and for them to try and give him a push. These slumber parties are what Dean sees as them wooing Cas lol)

Anon, I am definitely with you. You can tell me any character is bi and I will probably believe you, and bi Eileen is already canon to me. 

Dean thinking Sam is the bi one is hilarious to me (and bi!Sam is fully justifiable in canon). But for the sake of your question let's say this Sam isn't into men. If I were writing the story, Sam and Eileen's potential third would be nonbinary or another adjacent identity. This would allow Dean to still misunderstand and think Sam is the bi one, and still see Sam talking a lot to Cas, and conclude that Cas is the nonbinary third. I do think at the time of 15x18 Cas identifies as a gay man, but to me his is a trans narrative, and I believe other SPN angels are, outside of human vessels, roughly genderless. I like it when Dean has to face this and it's a great way for him to get used to the idea that he's into Cas and/or that he's into genders other than women.

Could this be because I was closer to 40 than 30 when my spouse being nonbinary made me realize I'm into genders other than men? Yes. Yes it could :)

thinking about winchesters and last names

about sam retiring from actively hunting. he and eileen do the same kind of thing bobby did, giving advice and etc, but they're mostly retired. they have a little life of their own. and when they get married, sam takes eileen's last name. it's not about shame or spite or cuz he just doesn't like his last name. it's because sam winchester was a hunter and a bit of a legend. he was a man who never got to be much of a boy, a child burdened with a family name and family curse he's not old enough to remember. but he's retired now and marrying the woman he loves. and maybe it's time sam winchester was put to rest. he's lived a lifetime as sam winchester. maybe he wants to spend the rest of his life living relatively peacefully, as sam leahy.

about dean retiring from hunting and running his own place that's a lot like harvelle's roadhouse. its a casual place tho, open to normal people and hunters. its a rest spot for hunters who need it. a waypoint for wanderers needing direction. he's sober now, as hard as it sometimes is and as ironic as it feels considering his place has a bar that he often mans. and when he and cas get married (not that they actually needed to, but maybe they wanted something to celebrate and look back on as a real marker of how far they've come), cas chooses to take dean's last name. cas never had a last name of his own. sure, there were cases where he used "novak," but it wasn't ever his. and maybe cas just wants to take deans last name. and dean himself... he doesn't want to be rid of it. dean has spent too many years fighting to figure out and maintain who he is to want to let go of his last name. dean winchester is a legend who's lived several lifetimes in one, but maybe, now that the world is safe, he wants to be dean winchester... the retired legend.

maybe there's nothing wrong with either winchester brother's choice in name. maybe it's their own ways of being at peace with who they are and the lives they've lived
