DentaTonic | Supplements - Health
A Scientific Evaluation of DentaTonic: A Dietary Supplement for Oral Health
Dentists and hygienists recommend a consistent regimen of brushing, flossing, and regular checkups to maintain optimal oral health. However, recent research suggests that certain dietary supplements may offer additional support. DentaTonic, a formulation containing a blend of enzymes and minerals, has gained traction for its potential to promote comprehensive oral health. Let's explore the scientific basis behind its key ingredients.
Enzyme Activity for a Balanced Microbiome
DentaTonic incorporates a trio of enzymes: lactoperoxidase, lysozyme, and dextranase. Lactoperoxidase, naturally present in saliva, plays a critical role in the body's oral defense system. Studies indicate its ability to inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria associated with plaque formation and potential decay [1]. Lysozyme functions as a natural antimicrobial agent, further targeting bacteria within the oral cavity [2]. Dextranase disrupts complex sugars, a primary food source for plaque-forming bacteria [3]. By influencing the oral microbiome, DentaTonic may contribute to a healthier environment for teeth and gums.
Tumblr media
Potential for Enamel Remineralization
Microcrystalline hydroxyapatite, another key component of DentaTonic, is a form of calcium phosphate that mirrors the mineral structure of tooth enamel. Research suggests it may possess remineralizing properties, potentially aiding in the repair of early enamel erosion [4]. This could be particularly beneficial for individuals prone to sensitivity or early signs of decay.
A Promising Ally in Oral Care
While further clinical trials are necessary to definitively establish DentaTonic's full range of benefits, the scientific evidence supporting its individual ingredients is encouraging. By potentially promoting a healthy oral microbiome, fostering remineralization, and inhibiting plaque formation, DentaTonic may offer a valuable complement to established dental hygiene practices. It is crucial to emphasize that DentaTonic should not be considered a substitute for regular dental checkups and professional cleanings.

Maintaining good oral health can feel like a constant battle. Brushing, flossing, the occasional mouthwash – it's all essential, but let's be honest, not always the most exciting routine. That's why I was intrigued by PowerBite, a dental health supplement marketed as a "mineral candy" that promised to support healthy teeth and gums. Here's my experience after incorporating PowerBite into my daily routine.
Tumblr media
A Delicious Way to Supplement
Forget chalky tablets or messy powders. PowerBite comes in the form of small, chewable tablets that taste surprisingly good! No more forcing down unpalatable supplements – PowerBite is actually enjoyable to take.
Science Behind the Sweetness
While the taste is fantastic, what truly impressed me was the science behind PowerBite. The tablets are packed with essential minerals like calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D, all known to contribute to strong teeth and healthy gums. The inclusion of Xylitol, a natural sweetener, further appealed to me, as it's known to inhibit the growth of bad bacteria in the mouth.
Fresh Breath and a Brighter Smile
Since incorporating PowerBite into my routine, I've noticed a positive difference in my oral health. My breath feels fresher for longer throughout the day, which is a welcome confidence boost. Additionally, my teeth seem brighter and feel stronger. While I wouldn't say PowerBite replaces brushing and flossing, it definitely feels like an extra layer of defence for my teeth and gums.

Heard your askbox was open and I uh.... I... CRAVE F L U F F. You think you could write a wee drabble of Sasuke teaching MC how to make caltrops that ends in a shoujo cliché accidental kiss??👀
My apologies my dear it has taken me a while to answer this but I hope it meets your expectations.
---
It was early in the morning and she found herself standingon the edge of Azuchi castle town by a large maple tree that was to be theirmeeting place. She had had no idea that asking her friend a simple “So what doyou do on your weekends?” question was going to turn into them inviting her tojoin them.
Standing alone at a meeting place on a weekend just made herfeel even more unsettled. It was like a date. Oh, Gods! It’s not a date, is it? No… I mean its Sasuke we’re talkingabout here. With those thoughts running rampant in her mind she cast her eyesdown to her choice of kimono. It wasn’t particularly new but it was brightcheerful colours. And then again if it isa date? I wonder if I look ok in this outfit. Becoming more distracted asshe critically judged her outfit she practically jumped out of her skin whenSasuke’s low and soft voice reached your ear.
“Good Morning Mc”
“Sasuke! H-hi.” Mc stammered out her greeting.
“Are you alright you appear to be a bit panicked?” Sasuke inquiredkindly. He had appeared out of nowhere and was standing at her side like ashadow.
“Oh? It’s nothing honestly.” Nervously giggling Mc mentallytold her heart to slow down and stop running around like a jackrabbit.
“Is that so?” If Sasuke noticed her nerves and awkwardnesshe didn’t show it on his typically expressionless face. His brown eyes justheld on to the image of her behind the frames of his glasses.
“Yes. I mean I was just wondering if I was dressedappropriately for today. You never told me what we would be doing or where wewere going.” Mc looked down at herself once more.
“We are not travelling far. There is a good harvesting areaquite near and you needn’t worry your cute kimono won’t be damaged I assureyou.” Sasuke’s familiar soft monotone was like a magic spell calming her. Wait did he…? No way he just called myoutfit cute right? It’s Sasuke there is probably nothing in that at all. Keepit together Mc.
“Well, that’s… Thank you.” There was no chance to avoidingthe faint blush that had formed on her face. Instead of reacting to it shesimply smiled in the hope that it would not be mentioned.
“Shall we get going? It's best we arrive and gather as muchas we need before the sun is too high.”
“Sure. Lead the way.”
---
True to his word Sasuke had guided her on a relativelyshort walk through a thinner patch of forest near town and emerged near a secludedpart of Lake Biwa. The water here was crystal clear but shallow. You could seethe small smooth pebbles on the lake bed and the tiny water-dwelling creatures asthey darted around happily.
It was so tranquil Mc couldn’t help but let out an audiblegasp at its beauty. But there really didn’t seem to be anything here. Therewere no buildings, no people there wasn’t even a fishing boat.
“Erm… Sasuke why are we here?”
“Trapa natans”
“Trapa what nows?” She looked at him for an explanationnoting the way he was faintly smiling and somehow convincing herself that shewas imaging it.
“My apologies. In non-scientific terms, the more commonlyused name for them is water caltrop.” Sasuke cleared his through a little andadjusted his glasses on the bridge of his nose. Times like this really made herfeel as if he was some sort of teacher.
“Caltrop? You mean like a Ground spike?”
“Precisely. I have to say you are faster at making theconnection than Yukimura.” Sasuke’s brown eyes seemed to soften more as helooked at her. What are you looking at melike that for? Actually, how have I never noticed that all those times when I thoughtyou were so expressionless that you really aren’t. Your eyes…
“You came here with Yuki?” She asked trying to distractherself from those pesky thoughts. Thisis Sasuke. There is nothing more to this than two friends hanging out.
“Once or twice.”
“Alright, so I guess these water caltrops are around herethen?” She began looking up and down the length of water even though she had noidea what a water caltrop was supposed to look like.
“Right again they are a plant that grows in water making itaquatic. But they do require some specific requirements in their environment. The water must be flowing but slow moving.” Sasuke was speaking like a narratorin a nature documentary. It was pleasantly amusing after the week she haddealing with the men at the castle.
“And shallow water?”
“Compared to the rest of the lake it would be seen asshallow. Typically, the plants can be found in waters up to an average depth ofsomething around 5 metres. You won’t find them growing in areas where it iscold. You want it deep enough to grow but not so deep that the warmth from thesun cannot penetrate and cover the majority of the plant.” Sasuke continued tospeak at length in an almost dreamy fashion. He really loves ground spikes doesn’t he? Hehe, it’s sort of reallycute.
“Photosynthesis.” The word left her mouth before sherealised it and she felt a little dumb for it as it felt a little like a childstating the obvious to a grown-up about the world around them. What did I just say that for? Seriously I wishI knew a bit more about this stuff to be able to talk properly with him but I just…
“That, of course, helps with continued healthy growth as well.Did you like science class in school?” Sasuke’s acceptance of her accidentalcomment was surprising and warmed her heart. Why had she ever thought he wouldlaugh at her? He had never been anything other than supportive.
“Honestly I never paid a great deal of attention in it. Myteacher was kind of boring and I found that I couldn’t focus unless it was aclass trip somewhere. Then for some reason my mind just cleared and learningabout things was easier.” She reminisced about her school days remembering thestuffy classroom in the science lab.
“I see. That suits you.” Sasuke nodded.
“Suits me?”
“Yes. You are a very practical creative person. Theoreticallearning in the classroom must have been a little restrictive on you. So, whenyou were allowed to interact and witness first hand the lesson throughpractical exercises and experiences you found it easier to comprehend thesubject matter. There have been numerous case studies on such things andseveral papers published on the benefits of combining practical and theoreticallearning in the educational system to promote better learning.” Sasuke wastalking confidently and with such a varied knowledge of different areas ofsubject matter that it made Mc chuckle seeing it.
“You really know a lot about this stuff, don’t you?”
He turned to her and it felt as if he had adjusted hisexpression without showing it. “I’m sorry I’m afraid I was rambling. Yukimuraoften tells me it is difficult to understand and boring.” A small cloud seemed topass over his clear eyes as he criticised his conversational ability.
“No! honestly, I don’t know if its because we come from thesame time or what but I don’t find you that difficult to understand. I mean youmight say some things that go over my head but I have never once thought of youas boring Sasuke.”
“I see. I’m glad to hear that.” He half mumbled that castinghis eyes down before bringing his head back up looking at her again. “If you couldwait here for a few minutes I’ll just go and get myself set up.”
“Is there anything I can help with?” Mc made a move to joinhim but he placed a hand on her shoulder to stop her.
“Once I have everything then you can help me. Until thenplease sit. I prepared some food. It isn’t much I gathered a few things fromtown the other day.” He pointed towards a large rock by the water with somethingplaced next to it.
“It’s like a picnic!” Her childish enthusiasm had himchuckling and her once again internally chastising herself for not being the coolgrown up, she wanted to be around Sasuke. Whendid I even start thinking about things like that?
“Please rest Mc. I’ll be right back.” With that Sasukedisappeared into the tree line.
Unfolding a blanket that was neatly placed under a wrappedhand basket Mc sat down looking at the view over the lake’s surface and thesunlight dancing on it. Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath of clean airshe exhaled slowly smiling.
Sasuke returned in a slightly different outfit. It was closerto what he wore when he was working as a ninja. The fabric clinging tighter tohis body where it had been wrapped, revealed the same toned figure she usuallysaw when the warlords were sparring. For some reason though when it came to Sasukeshe couldn’t take her eyes from him. He had a sleeveless tunic style top on andwas carrying a net bag and small knife in his hands.  She couldn’t say anything as she watched himslip barefooted into the lake. Each step into the lake had him sinking furtherinto the crystal water until he was up to his shoulders.
He looked in her direction the sunlight glinting off hisglasses just as it was on the surface of the water and then vanished from view. Hedid this several times before walking back out of the lake looking every bitlike a historical version of that iconic scene from a spy movie.
The net bag he had in his hand was full of strange lookingthings that she supposed were the water caltrops. One thing was certain theydidn’t look a thing like ground spikes.
“Are they the caltrops?” Mc asked sceptically.
“Yes. I was able to get quite a few today I should be ableto replenish my stock nicely.” Sasuke held the bag up a little higher clearlypleased with his findings.
“They don’t exactly look spikey.” Mc used a finger to pokeone of the strange looking objects in the net.
“That is because what we need is inside the pod. It’s the seedswe use to make the Tennenbishi. If you could use this knife and help remove theseed from the pod while I go and set up a cover over in the sun and get changedthat would be very helpful.” Sasuke deftly showed her how to safely remove thepart he was talking about and then left her to do the rest.
---
“Got it!” Mc cried out as the last water caltrop had beencut open. As it turned out each pod was something like a piece of fruit. Therewas a singular large seed in its centre that looked a lot more like one ofSasuke’s beloved ground spikes even if it was a little softer.
“That’s great. Can you bring them here and we’ll get them spreadout so they can dry?”
“Sure thing.” Mc removed the small packets of food from thewrapped basket, placing them on the blanket next to her and used it to carrythe seeds
Satisfied with her completed task and the knowledge that shehad been a little helpful for her dear friend Mc smiled as she carried the basketover to the blankets Sasuke had set out in the sun.
She was about to hand over the basket to Sasuke’s waitinghand when her toe caught on something under the edge of the floor covering and itsent her tumbling.
Mc scrunched her eyes shut and waited for the impact. She knewshe couldn’t stop it as her hands were full but the sensation that hit her was certainlynot one she had expected. Soft warmth. It radiated from all over her body butwas strongest on her lips. Her eyes sprung open and she was face to face withSasuke.
He always seemed so expressionless but right now he waspractically frozen rigid. The basket and its scattered contents lay around themas their two tangled bodies lay on the floor. Sasuke had broken her fall shieldingher from any pain and injury she might have suffered from the impact and somehow, they had managed to end up in a cliché kiss. This is so embarrassing. Mc pulled back and her nose brushed hisreminding her of the accidental kiss that they had just shared and she justknew her face was red as a peony.
“I’m so sorry. A-are you alright?” She attempted to movemore of her weight off him and remove her body from his but for some reason, thearm he had placed around her waist wasn’t allowing her too. It was locked onher like a steel bar. “Sasuke?”
“Mc.” His unwavering eyes pierced her own making her freeze. But the biggest more noticeable thing for her was his lower more masculine voice.I don’t think I’ve ever heard him soundlike this… “I think… no. I know we should talk.”

About Beverly Hills MD
Behind Beverly Hills MD are John Layke and Payman Daniel, two cosmetic surgeons who met during their residency at New York’s Nassau University Medical Center. The duo had already developed a strong reputation in their chosen field before deciding to get together to set up their own company. In 2014, Beverly Hills MD was born.
Making the City of Angels their base, Beverly Hills MD was created to provide solutions to support women and men ‘to feel and look their very best’. Layke and Daniel draw on their 10 years of plastic surgery experience to develop at home skincare products to target specific skin and ageing concerns. Thanks to their innovative formulations, using proven active ingredients such as saw palmetto, vitamin A and fruit extracts, their products are also safe for all skin types. Many ingredients are organic too, and the company is animal cruelty free.
Key skin concerns the Beverly Hills MD product range aims to address include scar reduction, wrinkles, acne, dullness, and sagging. They also offer formulations to enhance your skin and features, including eyes and brows.
Beverly Hills MD prides itself on being able to offer professional-grade skin care for both the face and body which can be used at home. And while the range is a premium product, it does come in at a relatively affordable price-point, considering its quality and scientific background.

Product Review
From fuller eyebrows and tackling pigmentation to plumping, hydrating, and filling wrinkles, there is a Beverly Hills MD product – or combination of products – for most skin concerns and types. Here are six of the brand’s current bestsellers.
Lift + Firm Sculpting Cream
One of Beverly Hills MD’s core products, we like the double action of this anti-aging cream, as it lifts and firms while it hydrates. The result, says many of the customer reviews, is a visible impact on the skin, with many reporting some tightening to create a rejuvenated, more sculpted appearance. Lift+Firm Sculpting Cream uses an exclusive blend of amino acids, tightening fruit extracts and collagen supporting ingredients to boost natural elasticity and create more firmness in the skin on both the face and the neck. Think of it as a natural support system for your skin’s internal structure and you can see how it can work to create a more youthful appearance.  And, with 4.78 out of 5 on the brand’s own website, this hardworking cream has its fair share of fans.
Suitable for all skin types – but especially mature skin – Lift + Firm Sculpting Cream needs to be applied twice a day and massaged into the skin. Night-time application should be prioritized as the formula’s active ingredients can support your skin’s own regeneration process while you sleep.
For all this sculpting and lifting, you can expect to pay a price, as each 5.6-ounce jar costs $120 but a little does go a long way. And you can also save up to $12 per jar with Beverly Hills MD’s multi-buy offer.

Dark Spot Corrector
As your skin ages, it can develop patches of discoloration and uneven pigment, such as age and sun spots. But with Dark Spot Corrector, you have a light gel which can work to help reduce the look of dark pigmentation, leaving your skin brighter and more radiant. And all without bleaching or irritating the skin.
Dark Spot Corrector uses a concentrated blend of natural ingredients, including vitamin C-rich Kakadu plum, vitamin B which protects against environmental damage and skin-evening daisy flower extract, to create a light, cool gel which rapidly absorbs into the skin.
Dark Spot Corrector can be applied up to three time daily, depending on how severe the dark areas are. And for best results, you should also exfoliate your skin at least twice a well to allow the gel to penetrate more effectively to do its brightening work. An SPF moisturizer is also recommended.
A 30ml bottle of Dark Spot Corrector will set you back $129.95, so this is one of the most expensive products in the Beverly Hills MD range.

Deep Wrinkle Filler
Now on to one of Beverly Hills MD’s consistent bestsellers, Deep Wrinkle Filler. The aim of Deep Wrinkle Filler is to erase those pesky wrinkles and creases that can be found across the forehead, between the eyes and around the mouth. And the beauty of this lux-feel product is that not only can it soften deeper wrinkles on application but with regular use works to improve the skin’s texture over time. And this means you should get both short and long-term results.
So, what ingredients make this such a wonderful addition to your anti-aging skincare routine? First up, it has a polymer blend which instantly ‘fills’ out the appearance of deeper lines on contact for day-long confidence.  Then there is diamond powder which reflects light away from the skin to disguise the look of any wrinkles. And for a longer effect, there is also a special formula called Tightenyl, which has been designed to improve the texture of the skin for a smoother, more youthful appearance.
Using Deep Wrinkle Filler is quick and easy, all you need to do is apply a small amount to deep wrinkles or fine lines and gently pat with a clean fingertip into the skin. However, you do need to leave the product to dry – around one minute – before applying your makeup.
A 0.6-ounce tube of Deep Wrinkle Filler will cost $125, although you can make some savings on the multi-buy deal via Beverly Hills MD’s website.

Ultra Firm Lifting Eye Mask
Your eyes are the window on your world, but they are also one of the first areas to show the first signs of aging. Which is why Beverly Hills MD have developed their Ultra Firm Lifting Eye Mask to help correct all those tell-tale signs. Each mask is pretty potent but is gentle on your skin to give you a relaxing eye treatment that also helps to stimulate the circulation in the surrounding skin.
And it works hard too, as it tackles not just fine lines, but also lifts, reduces the appearance of crow’s feet, plumps thinning skin and reduces under-eye bags. Like many of their products, Beverly Hills MD has come up with their own problem-specific formulas, including BeautifEye, which lifts saggy eyelids and ‘UnisoothTM EG-28’ which helps to fade dark circles and reduce puffiness. You also get Rhodiola Rosea Extract, a proven antioxidant that is effective in hydrating and energizing the delicate skin around the eyes.
Each eye mask has been designed for optimum coverage and needs to be worn for 15 minutes to allow the serum to penetrate the skin. For best results, you are advised to use every two days, but as there 15 mask pairs in each box, you should get a month’s use per pack. But this comes at a price, as a box of Ultra Firm Lifting Eye Mask retails at $128, with a saving of $20 per box if you buy three at once.

Thick + Full Brow Enhancing Serum
Full, shapely eyebrows are here to stay, so if you have thinning brows, or over-plucked in the past, a serum can help to bring them back to life. And with Thick + Full Brow Enhancing Serum, you can be sure you are using a hormone-free formula that is safe for all eyebrows.
Easy to use, this advanced formula needs to be applied daily for the best results and gives the follicles of your eyes a real nutrient boost to help them grow and thrive. With active ingredients such as polyphenols, proteins, and vitamins as well as fruit extracts, Thick + Full Brow Enhancing Serum can help to make your brows look thicker and fuller as well as more natural. It can also be used on eyebrows that have thinned due to age. A slick of this serum is all you need, and the formula also helps to gloss your brows and make them shine with health.
Results can vary, although many customer reviews show that improvements can be seen in as little as three-four weeks. However, this is not the cheapest eyebrow serum you can buy as Thick + Full Brow Enhancing Serum cost $88 per tube.

Crepe Correcting Body Complex
And finally, to a product from the Beverly Hills MD body range. And one that aims to tackle a very specific concern – crepey skin. Typically found on areas such as the arms, knees, stomach and decolletage, as well as the hands, loose, creased skin can make you look prematurely aged, or emphasize the appearance of loose, older skin.
The Crepe Correcting Body Complex is a deliciously rich formula that intensely moisturizes at a cellular level while it works to firm and improve the look of crinkled skin on the body. With key ingredients including niacinamide, which supports the body’s natural production of skin-firming collagen and protein, this high-quality complex also contains Beverly Hills MD’s own formula, Hydrafirm.
Packed with skin-boosting algae as well as hydrating and smoothing ingredients such as lentils, apple and watermelon, Crepe Correcting Body Complex is a crepe-busting powerhouse that is also a delight to use. Used daily, your skin should feel softer, smoother, and beautifully hydrated. Suitable for even sensitive skin, Crepe Correcting Body Complex costs $100 for a 118ml jar.

Beverly Hills MD Customers Reviews
If you look online or in the fashion magazines, there is clearly a buzz around the Beverly Hills MD range, and the two co-founders are adept at publicity to promote their brand. But ultimately, it is down to the user and their experience of the Beverly Hills MD product range that really counts as to service, quality and ultimately, results.
Overall, customer satisfaction is high, with the range scoring on average 4.5 stars out of five, both on Beverly Hills MD’s own website and independent review sites such as Site Jabber and Trust Pilot. It’s clear that some of their classic products, such as Deep Wrinkle Filler have loyal fans, and overall, their Beverly Hills MD range do show results, albeit of varying degrees.
Here are just a few examples: “It has unquestionably and undeniably altered my deep wrinkles around my mouth…”; “I have found this product works so well and improving the texture of my skin, after only one week”; “My skin is tighter, lifted and younger looking in just a few days. And wrinkles are extremely lessened”; “This Lift & Firm Sculpting Cream has definitely shown results”; “I was about to get Botox for them, but I thought I would give Deep Wrinkle Filler a try.”
From the full product range, it seems that Beverly Hills MD’s face masks, serums and anti-aging creams were repeatedly acknowledged for showing results.
However, the same cannot always be said with the company’s customer service, which appears to be the main bone of contention when it came to any negative reviews. And it is the company’s return policy and shipping times that attracted the most comment on Site Jabber and Trust Pilot, such as: “I have canceled my subscription due to the poor customer service”; “I noticed they make it extremely difficult, despite the videos saying no questions easy returns”; “I ordered to Australia a month ago and have still not received my item.”

Beverly Hills MD: Editors Verdict
If you are looking for a boost to your skincare routine and want science-inspired products that actively tackle the most common anti-aging and skin concerns, then Beverly Hills MD has a lot to recommend it.
With two surgeons behind the company and its philosophy, there is definitely a cosmeceutical approach to the brand’s formulas which can inspire confidence in the user. And overall, customer reviews indicate this is a skincare brand that can achieve results, although they do vary and there is a limit to what these ‘over-the-counter’ products can achieve.
For tackling fine lines, plumping, hydrating, and boosting, the Beverly Hills MD range is worth considering, especially if your budget doesn’t stretch to cosmetic surgery or surgery is an avenue you would never go down. But as everyday skincare, this is an expensive line, particularly if you have several skin concerns you are looking to address.
We do like the quality of the ingredients however, and the formulas are pretty impressive without being harsh on the skin. In fact, the whole product range is animal cruelty free, which is a selling plus.
As a skincare line, it does seem to be focused on the older customer who is looking for improvements in the look, feel and overall health of their skin. These customers also seem to be drawn to and reassured by the experience and knowledge of the company’s founders as well as the more scientific approach to skincare. And the growing reputation of Beverly Hills MD as a premium skincare brand that has the skills, ingredients, and know-how to tackle the main skin concerns can help to soften the blow of the higher price-tag.

Engineering Insight for Humanoid Robotics Emotions and Violence with Reference to “System Error 1378”- Juniper Publishers

Abstract
What kinds of social relationships can people have with computers are there activities that computers can engage in that actively draw people into relationships with them. What are the potential benefits to the people who participate in these human-computer relationships? To address these questions researchers introduces a theory of Relational Agents, which are computational artifacts designed to build and maintain long-term, social-emotional relationships with their users. These can be purely software humanoid animated agents--as developed in this work but they can also be non-humanoid or embodied in various physical forms, from robots, to pets, to jewelry, clothing, hand-held’s, and other interactive devices. Central to the notion of relationship is that it is a persistent construct, spanning multiple interactions; thus, Relational Agents are explicitly designed to remember past history and manage future expectations in their interactions with users [1]. Finally, relationships are fundamentally social and emotional, and detailed knowledge of human social psychology with a particular emphasis on the role of affect--must be incorporated into these agents if they are to effectively leverage the mechanisms of human social cognition in order to build relationships in the most natural manner possible. People build relationships primarily through the use of language, and primarily within the context of face-to-face conversation. Embodied Conversational Agents--anthropomorphic computer characters that emulate the experience of face-to-face conversation--thus provide the substrate for this work, and so the relational activities provided by the theory will primarily be specific types of verbal and nonverbal conversational behaviors used by people to negotiate and maintain relationships. This article is also intend if level of Artificial Intelligence reach over Natural Intelligence (Human Intelligence), what would be happen, if System Error 1378 (AI malfunction error) occur one day .i.e. robotic violence due to human like emotion in Robots/Humanoid [2].
Keywords: Humanoid; Robotics Emotions; Robotics Violence; System Error 1378
Introduction
Humans take a certain posture in their communication. Can take example, when mankind are happy or sad, cheerful, take a posture in which the activities and behaviour showing through body language like moving and open arms etc. When they are angry, they square the shoulders. When they are tired or sadness, they shrug the shoulder or close the arms. That’s why; the emotion and mental condition are closely related to the human posture, gestures, facial expressions and behavior exhibits through body language. And, human obtain many information from partner’s posture in their communication [3]. In this situation, the human arms play an important role. Figure 1 & 2 below shows the emotional expression exhibited by WE-4RII [4].
We can control the generally 6-DOFs (Degree of Freedom) robotic arms’ from its tip position precisely as like human’s arm. But, all their joint angles are fixed according to the inverse kinematics. By the way, humans have 7-DOFs arms consisting of 3-DOFs shoulder, 1-DOF elbow and 3-DOFs wrist. However, it’s considered that there is a rotational center in the base of shoulder joint, and the shoulder joint itself can moves up and down positions as well as moves to and fro, back & forth so that humans square and shrug their shoulders. We considered that these motions played a very important role in the emotional expressions. Therefore, researchers trying to develop more emotional expressive human-like body movements, gestures feelings, love and affection response supportive movements in humanoid robot arms than the usual 6-DOFs robot arms [5].
Robotic Software Architecture Model
(Figure 3) Risk assessment is an interdisciplinary subject, which runs together psychological, ethical, legal, and economic considerations. A major problem in risk assessment is the confusion between popular concepts of risk from robots (the ‘subjective risk’), which has largely been made irrational by the various fictional depictions autonomous robots destroying humankind and running amok (as in Terminator and I, Robot, among many other movies) and the actual objective risk of deploying robots, i.e., what rational basis is there for worry?
First, let us define risk simply in terms of its opposite, safety: risk is the probability of harm; and (relative) safety is (relative) freedom from risk. Safety in practice is merely relative, not absolute, freedom from harm, because no activity is ever completely risk-free; walking onto one’s lawn from inside one’s house increases the (however small) risk of death by meteorite strike [6]. Hence, risk and safety are two sides of the usual human attempt to reduce the probability of harm to oneself and others [7].
And finally, some have raised risks of a more abstract sort, indicating the rise of such autonomous robots creates risks that go beyond specific harms to societal and cultural impacts. For instance, is there a risk of (perhaps fatally?) Affronting human dignity or cherished traditions (religious, cultural, or otherwise) in allowing the existence of robots that make ethical decisions? Do we ‘cross a threshold’ in abrogating this level of responsibility to machines, in a way that will inevitably lead to some catastrophic outcome? Without more detail and reason for worry, such worries as this appear to commit the ‘slippery slope’ fallacy. But there is worry that as robots become ‘quasipersons’, even under a ‘slave morality’, there will be pressure to eventually make them into full-fledged Kantian-autonomous persons, with all the risks that entails [8].
Background for Work
Many people thinking about Spock, the half-Vulcan and half-human character of Star Trek, as the supporter saint of computer science. They highly intelligent, highly rational, highly unemotional, attractive to women etc. A famous image is that Spock didn’t have any emotions: after all Spock almost never expressed emotion, excepting his characteristic pronouncement of the word “fascinating” upon thoughtful something new. In fact, as the actor Leonard Nimoy describes in his book the character Spock did have emotion; he was just very good at suppressing its expression. Majority people think that Spock do not having emotion. When someone never used to expresses emotion, it is appealing to think that emotion is not there [9-11]. In affective computing, we can separately examine functions that are not so easily separated in humans. For example, the Macintosh OS exhibits a smile for years upon successful boot-up. But few people would confuse its smile - albeit an emotional expression - with a genuine emotional feeling. Machines can take the emotional appearance well mannered, with having dissimilarities in feelings similar to those we would have: they can generate separate expression, gestures and postures from feeling. With a machine it is easy to see how emotion expression does not imply “having” the underlying feeling.
Machines that might really “have” feelings are the key area of affective computing and love affection engineering that coined serious doubt about in 1997 book titled Affective Computing. We think the discussions there, and in a later book chapter on this topic are still timely and will not plan to add to them here. Researchers in the last decade have obtained dozens of scientific findings illuminating important roles of emotion in intelligent human functioning, even when it looks like a person is showing no emotion. These findings possible to restructure, redesign and reengineering with scientific understanding of emotions and can better motivation to work to young researchers with consider that emotional mechanisms might be more valuable than previously believed. Consequently, a number of researchers have charged ahead with building machines that have several affective abilities, especially: recognizing, expressing, modeling, communicating, and responding to emotion. And, insight these domains, various criticisms and challenges have arisen. Present work addresses such matters. The term emotion refers to relations among external incentives, thoughts, and changes in internal feelings, as weather is a super ordinate term for the changing relations among wind velocity, humidity, temperature, barometric pressure, and form of precipitation. In general, a unique combination of these meteorological traits buildup a storm, a tornado, a blizzard, or a hurricane events and that are co-relate to the temporary but intense emotions of fear, joy, excitement, disgust, or anger. But wind, temperature, and humidity vary continually without producing such extreme combinations [12].
Ethics
With example, if your boss yells at you, is it wrong to detect his angry voice, or to recognize he is angry? Is it unethical, once you’ve recognized his anger, to try to take steps to alleviate his anger (or to “manipulate” it, perhaps by sharing new information with him, so that he is no longer angry? One can imagine of scenario where the foregoing replies are “no”: e.g. He is shouting at you directly, and clearly wants you to recognize it and take steps in response. And, one can imagine the answers might be more complex if you surreptitiously detected his anger, and had nefarious purposes in mind by attempting to change it [13]. Humans routinely scanned, recognize, and respond to emotions using cognitions and manipulating them in ways that most would consider highly ethical and needful. Playing music to cheer up a friend’s mood, eating chocolate, exercising to perk one up, and other manipulations count among many that can be perfectly acceptable. That said, unscrupulous uses by people and by people via machine of affect detection, recognition, expression, and manipulation. Some of these, including ways affective machines might mislead customers, assuage productive emotional states, and violate privacy norms, are discussed in Picard and in Picard and Klein [14].
In 1872, Charles Darwin Published a ground breaking book - The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals 2
It was the conclusion about to 34 years of work on emotion and emotional intelligence and resource two important contributions to the field. The first was the notion that animal emotions are homologues for human emotions- a logical extension of Darwin’s early works on evolution [15]. Darwin was one of the most promised people who show this by comparing and analyzing countless sketches and photographs of animals and people in different emotional states to reveal cross-species similarities as shown in below figure. .He also proposed that many emotional expressions in humans, such as tears when upset or baring the teeth when angry, are vestigial patterns of action. Darwin second contribution was the proposal which limit to set of fundamental or’ basic’ emotions are present across species and across cultures including anger, fear, surprise and sadness and all .These two ideas had a profound influence on affective neuroscience by promoting the use of research in animals to understand emotions in humans and by giving impetus to a group of scientists who espoused the view that different basic emotions had separable eneural substrates [16] (Figure 4).
Can Robots Have Emotions
Science fiction is full of machines that have feelings .In 2001: A Space Odyssey, the onboard computer turns against the crew of the spaceship Discovery, and utters cries of pain and fear when his circuits are finally taken apart. In Blade Runner, humanoid robots are distressed to learn that her memories are not real, but have been implanted in her silicon brain by her programmer. In Bicentennial Man, Robin William splays the part of a robot that redesigns his own circuitry so that he can experience the full range of human feelings. These stories achieve their effect impart because the capacity for emotion is often considered to be one of the main differences between humans and machines. This is certainly true of the machines we know today. The responses we receive from computers are rather dry affairs, such as “system error 1378”. People sometimes get angry with their computers and shout at them as if they had emotions, but the computers take no notice. They neither feel their own feelings, nor recognize yours [17]. The gap between science fiction and science fact appears vast, but some researcher’s inartificial intelligence now believes it is only a question of time before it is bridged. There is huge research in progress in each month in the domain of Affective Computing and an advance result comes in the form of primitive emotional machines. However, some critics argue that a machine could never come to have real emotions like ours. At best, they claim, clever programming might allow it to simulate human emotions, but these would just be clever fakes [18].
What are Emotions
In humans and other animals, we tend to call behavior emotional when we observe certain facial and vocal expressions like smiling or snarling, and when we see certain physiological changes such as hair standing on end or sweating. Since most computers do not yet possess faces or bodies, they cannot manifest this behavior. However, in recent years computer scientists have been developing arrange of’ animated agent faces’ [19], programmers that generate images of humanlike faces on the computer’s visual display unit. These images can be manipulated to form convincing emotional expressions. Others have taken things further by building three-dimensional synthetic heads. Cynthia Breazealand colleagues at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have constructed a robot called’ Kismet’ with moveable eyelids, eyes and lips. The range of emotional expressions available to Kismet is limited, but they are convincing enough to generate sympathy among the humans who interact with him. Breazeal invites human parents to play with Kismet on a daily basis. When kismet alone seems to be sad and when with someone company seems to be happy and also able to understand other human expressions and response accordingly. Does Kismet have emotions, then? It certainly exhibits some emotional behavior, so if we define emotions in behavioral terms, we must admit that Kismet has some emotional capacity [20].
Presently Kismet doesn’t exhibits full of human like emotional behaviour but seems to be towards developing phase and one day as similar like human beings. Chimpanzees do not display the full range of human emotion, but they clearly have some emotions. Dogs and cats have less emotional semblance to us, and those doting pet-owners who ascribe the full range of human emotions to their domestic animals are surely guilty of anthropomorphism. There is a whole spectrum of emotional capacities, ranging from the very simple to the very complex. Perhaps Kismet’s limited capacity for emotion puts him somewhere near the simple end of the spectrum, but even this is a significant advance over the computers that currently sit on our desks, which by most definitions are devoid of any emotion whatsoever. As affective computing progresses, we may be able to build machines with more and more complex emotional capacities. Kismet doesn’t have voice and feelings in voice mechanism but promising advanced research change this dream into reality soon. Today’s speech synthesizers speak in an unemotional monotone. In the future, computer scientists should be able to make them sound much more human by modulating nonlinguistic aspects of vocalization like speed, pitch and volume [21]. Facial expression and vocal intonation are not the only forms of emotional behavior. We also infer emotions from actions. When, for example, we see an animal stop abruptly in its tracks, turn round, and run away, we infer that it is afraid, even though we may not see the object of its fear. For computers to exhibit this kind of emotional behavior, they will have to be able to move around. In the jargon of artificial intelligence, they will have to be “mobots” (mobile robots). In lab at the University of the West of England, there are dozens of mobots, most of which are very simple. Some, for example, are only the size of a shoe, and all they can do is finding their way around a piece of the floor without bumping into anything. Sensors allow them to detect obstacles such as walls and other mobots. Despite the simplicity of this mechanism, their behavior can seem eerily human. When an obstacle is detected, the mobots stop dead in their tracks, turnaround, and head off quickly in the other direction. To anybody watching, the impression that the mobot is afraid of collisions is irresistible. Are these mobots really afraid? Descartes, for example, claimed that animals did not really have feelings like us because they were just complex machines, without a soul. When they screamed in apparent pain, they were just following the dictates of their inner mechanism. Now that we know that the pain mechanism in humans is not much different from that of other animals, the Cartesian distinction between sentient humans and’ machine-like’ animals does not make much sense [22]. In the same way, as we come to build machines more and more like us, the question about whether or not the machines have ‘real’ emotions or just ‘fake’ one swill become less meaningful. The current resistance to attributing emotions to machines is simply due to the fact that even the most advanced machines today are still very primitive. Some experts estimate that we will be able to build machines with complex emotions like ours within fifty years. But is this a good idea? What is the point of building emotional machines? Won’t emotions just get in the way of good computing, or even worse, cause computers to turn against us, as they so often do in science fiction?.
Why Give Computers Emotions
After this long review the point is clear to give emotion in computers could be very useful for a whole variety of reasons. For a start, it would be much easier and more enjoyable to interact with an emotional computer than with today’s unemotional machines. Imagine if your computer could recognize what emotional state you were in each time you sat down to use it, perhaps by scanning your facial expression. You arrive at work one Monday morning, and the computer detects that you are in a bad mood. Rather than simply asking you for your password, as computers do today, the emotionallyaware desktops might tell you a joke, or suggest that you read particularly nice email first. Perhaps it has learnt from previous such mornings that you resent such attempts to cheer you up. In this case, it might ignore you until you had calmed down or had a coffee. It might be much more productive to work with a computer that was emotionally intelligent in this way than with today’s dumb machines. This is not just a flight of fancy. Computers are already capable of recognizing some emotions [23]. If ran Essa and Alex Pentland, two American computer scientists, have designed a program that enables a computer to recognize facial expressions of six basic emotions. When volunteers pretended to feel one of these emotions, the computer recognized the emotion correctly ninety-eight per cent of the time. This is even better than the accuracy rate achieved by most humans on the same task! If computers are already better than us at recognizing some emotions, it is surely not long before they will acquire similarly advanced capacities for expressing emotions, and perhaps even for feeling them. In the future, it may be humans who are seen by computers as emotionally illiterate, not vice versa.
Modeling
System error detection-correction model
Above Figure 5 shows system error detection-correction model which highlighted critical thinking on robotics violence. Basically Ultra Artificial Intelligence with human-like capabilities partly based on two strong segments .i.e. UAISoftware and UAI-Hardware to engineer Humanoid. These humanoid mechanisms strongly based on Self Programming Support Unit for self learning using artificial preceptor with intention to implement self sensation, actuation, meaning memories generation and execute like mankind. Hence using sensors, transducers, motors and actuators mechanism with NLP, Image Processing software possible to interact with external environment. Since Humanoid scan & learn from environment there might possible sources hidden in environment for diversification humanoid for violence or undesired execution or use I called them “Triggers”. There are two triggers possible for robotics violence one is “internal violence triggers” and another is “external violence triggers”. In internal violence triggers self bad conduct by self programming responsible for it which boost to system error 1378 occurred due to internal reasons. Whereas when self programming support unit hike, hijacked, in control of enemies or corrupted through virus programming to change good ethics into bad ethics of humanoid caused robotic violence which boost to system error 1378 occurred due to external reasons [24].
Cause-effect model
(Figure 6) This is the second purposed model in effect of first model named Cause-Effect model. In this model had given brief but lucid knowledge about Humanoid violence causes and their effects on world, technology and ultimately mankind civilization. As I said in first model discussion there are two robotics violence triggers viz. internal & external triggers and this cause effect to “self distractive program with bad ethics” due to this cause system error 1378 occurred in effect which further cause to “Humanoid-Human Wars (Humanoid/Robotics Violence)” this effect will further become cause humanoid against of human for love, affection, emotion, respect and rights .i.e. world either will end or ruled by Humanoid machines over Human due to high intelligence and processing abilities.
Human friendly humanoid designing model
This is my last model to exhibit idea how can how Human friendly Humanoid engineering possible instead of only going technically very high very we must have to think could we able to control that technology if it itself become against of us, is there we have any provision in our advanced AI engineering to stop to do so. I have suggested some one can enhance it further; these are
1) If system error 1378 occurred make immediate & emergency replacement of chip in standby to avoid robotics violence.
2) Engineer constructive counseling program in self programming support unit to trace and tackle with system error 1378 with self killing of malfunction and execution to avoid robotics violence.
3) Implement system error 1378 monitoring & security program as individual component to avoid robotic violence,
4) I strongly recommend available inbuilt subroutine to activate and direct self destructive programs which make Humanoid hardware death after its execution which trigger with inbuilt command “self destroy” when system error 1378 traced to avoid robotics violence (Figure 7).
Conclusion
Relational agents, as any technology, can be abused. Agents which earn our trust overtime can be used to provide more potent means of persuasion for marketers than more passive forms of advertising. If eventually come to rely on our agents as sources of grounding for our beliefs, values and emotions (one of the major functions of close human relationships) then they could become a significant source of manipulation and control over individuals or even over entire societies. There are those who also feel that any anthropomorphic interface is unethical, because it unrealistically raises users’ expectations. One way to combat this problem is through proper meta-relational communication-having the agent is as clear as possible about what it can and can’t do, and what expectations the user should have about their respective roles in the interaction anti violence robotic programmes must need to develop before to give human like emotions to Humanoid robots to avoid system error 1378.

A PRESCRIPTION FOR US ALL
This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart, is our temple; the philosophy is kindness. Dalai Lama.
Like you, I’m surrounded, in this beautiful place called Canada, by kind people. Canadians are generally speaking, a kind bunch. We do kind things for each other on a regular basis. We have a reputation for being ‘nice’. We also know that kind people are everywhere in the world, although in some regions kindness may be in short supply or not so easily detected. I often notice the quality of kindness in airports. YYC with those white hatted folks in the red vests is kindness central. You only have to look confused for three seconds before one of these friendly gentle seniors has got your back. Not so in LAX, where you risk being slammed up against a burger or burrito bar if you stop in the wrong place to look up at a departure display board. I have learned kindness is found in the quieter places of LA.
Even our gruff and tough Canadians won’t let a hungry or hurt animal suffer and will make daily trips to the hospital to cheer up a buddy, all the while talking about society failing apart because there’s just too many bleeding hearts these days. We may sometimes hold back our inclination toward kindness and instead indulge our anger or pride, but if we’re honest with ourselves, we have to admit our first response is more often than not, to be kind.
I’ve always attributed Canada’s exceptional kindness quotient to obvious factors such as our ancestral heritage and abundant resources and wealth. It’s easy to share and be kind when there is more than enough to go around.
But I now know there is more to it, thanks to an article I read last week by a doctor/scientist who conducted a study on the human response to images of kindness. This doctor scientifically measured the emotional state of people after viewing images of kindness. For comparison, he also measured their responses to images of ‘cuteness’, as well as ‘negative’ images.
Negative images included violence and destruction, cuteness images included the predictable puppies in a basket and baby bunnies. Images of kindness involved people lending support to others facing a challenge or problem. For example, a picture of the tops of a group of shaved heads and in the middle, a young man looking up at the camera and smiling, his head also shaved.
I know this does not sound like rocket science. It’s easy to predict what the research showed in terms of the negative and cute images. When we see images of violence and destruction feelings of sadness and anxiety rise while feelings of joy and love decrease. When we see images of cuteness feelings of joy, optimism, and gratitude increase.
The surprise came with the measures of feelings of joy, optimism, gratitude, love and trust, after viewing the kindness images. These images actually generated  twice the level of these feelings compared to the images of cuteness– which, as we all know, is much of what we see on our FB and Instagram feeds. So, it turns out, images of people offering help and support to others dealing with distress, disease, or other difficulties, produce the highest levels of positive feelings.
Science and common sense also tells us when people experience high levels of love and trust, joy and optimism, their connections to others are more numerous and strong, and they are more generous and kind to each other.  So we Canadians then, by virtue of being surrounded by so many kind people creating (by doing) images of kindness, are constantly reinforcing and increasing our national ‘kindness’ quotient and expanding and strengthening our connections to each other, which ultimately means a healthier and happier life.
Besides the obvious benefits of increased feelings of joy, trust, gratitude, love, and optimism and the consequential increase in the strength of our connections and our capacity to practice kindness, I would add another important benefit and that is the reduction of stress.
So much has been learned in recent years about the impact of stress on our physical and mental health. Stress has been implicated in everything from heart disease to depression to drug addiction. While these conditions have hounded people for centuries, there is no doubt that we are individually and collectively experiencing shocking levels of stress and therefore disease in our modern world.
How much, I wonder, is a result of the raging stream of negative images to which we are exposed? The power of technology to deliver to us a constant supply of images combined with media outlets competing for the most shocking and disturbing stories has created a virtual visual world of despair. And how much of this exposure is of our own choosing?
Real life offers enough stress. We spend a lot of our lives learning how to cope with it and how to reduce it. We eventually learn that we can also avoid it by recognizing those aspects of our lives that cause it and removing them. Sometimes that means changing jobs, changing relationships, changing our aspirations. Sometimes that means letting go of ‘stuff’ and simplifying our lives.
I love the idea that we can also reduce our stress simply by changing the images to which we expose ourselves.
Some time ago, I switched from reading conventional news with my morning coffee to reading articles from the GoodNewsNetwork, an online non-profit dedicated to disseminating inspiring and positive news stories. Not only did this change reduce my stress level, it also profoundly increased my level of optimism with regard to human intent and determination in the face of what sometimes seems like overwhelming world problems. Daily I am inspired by viewing images and reading simple stories such as volunteers bringing their pets to visit lonely seniors to awe inspiring images and stories of young scientists for example, using their own inventions to clean up the swathes of plastic waste floating in the oceans. When I see volunteers with food and blankets lining the escape routes of refugees running from war and persecution or doctors without borders treating people in tents in the middle of a drought stricken country, I feel a surge of optimism and compassion.
A year or more now of this morning routine has profoundly increased my resistance to the stress I used to feel when viewing the bad news that is unavoidable because it does have to be faced, after all. We cannot simply bury our heads in the sand when it comes to local or world problems that affect us all. But now, when I see a negative image on the news I find myself responding with confidence that whatever the problem is can and will be solved. Within me I have a much deeper sense of faith in the ability of people everywhere to overcome and solve our greatest challenges.
The doctor who conducted the research that proves what I have learned this past year suggests we increase our ‘diet’ of visual images of kindness. To try out his prescription, consider the GoodNewsNetwork.org. Subscriptions are free.
Have a warm, kind, week.

Mindless Mindfulness
The Mindlessness of Mindfulness
 Dr. Bill Wilson
Recently as we rushed through the Tampa airport I noticed in one of the bookstores a glossy “Special Edition” from Time titled “Mindfulness—The New Science of Health and Happiness.” On the cover was a picture of a blissful young lady who appeared to be totally tuned out. Because of my decades of interest in Neuroscience, especially the connection between diet and brain function, I quickly paged through the magazine. What I saw was page after page of  mostly worthless woo and gibberish. so I put the book down and ran to my plane.
 Bad Advice From Non-professionals
Once I arrived at our condo in Tarpon Springs Florida I decided to download the article on my Kindle to give it a good read. After all, my first impression might have been wrong. You might find it worthwhile to download this Kindle version so this post will make more sense. The actual physical book is pretty expensive. I read the article from cover to cover and it was worse than I had expected. Each subsequent chapter was worse than the previous one when it comes to presenting what I call flawed science or pseudoscience. Of course these opinions are mine alone, but they are based on over 40 years of clinical practice and a vast exposure to the scientific literature. To help you understand just why the information in this article was so flawed, we first need to review the nature of science. Modern science is a two-part process. The first part is empiric science where observations are made in the real world looking for patterns in the noise. When you make consistent observations over time you then try to come up with a theory to explain your observations.
For example, if every time you sail your ships away from the shore they never return, you might speculate that the world is flat and your ships are simply falling off the edge of the world. Or perhaps there is some type of horrible monster out there who loves to eat ships. If every time you send out your ships they discover another continent and then they eventually return to their starting point, perhaps it’s because the world is round. You could then devise a series of experiments to test each theory. Or perhaps you notice that every time you drop an apple (or any object for that matter), it tends to fall to the earth at a predictable rate. You might then speculate that somehow matter has properties that attract other matter. You could then devise controlled experiments to prove or disprove your theory. One thing you don’t want to do is to spend a lot of time studying side-ways falling apples!
 Never Ignore the Science
When it comes to science and biology, things get even more complex. There are many variables in biology and if you miss some important ones, your data will be flawed and worthless. As I read through this article I recognized that many of the patients and writers had certain familiar brain dysfunction symptoms that generally aren’t found in healthy normal people. Over the past 40 years we have learned that these symptoms seem to occur after long-term exposure to highly processed food mainly containing excessive fructose from added sugars, high glycemic carbohydrates mainly from grains and excessive omega 6 fatty acids relative to omega 3 fatty acids. Of course this is the Standard American Diet that most people are exposed to every day of their lives. Over many years we have identified 22 typical symptoms of the disease. The lead symptom is always strong cravings for sweet and starchy food, pushing people to consume more of very food that is frying their brain. We decided to call this form of food-induced brain dysfunction Carbohydrate Associated Reversible Brain syndrome or CARB syndrome.
 Thin Yet Fat?
We also noticed that folks with CARB syndrome tend to accumulate excessive body fat regardless of caloric intake, level of exercise, size, weight or BMI and they are much more prone to metabolic syndrome and type II diabetes. They also tend to have a lot more trouble functioning in every imaginable environment. This article is loaded with people who fit the classic CARB syndrome pattern and they are proud to present their various workarounds and tricks for dealing with their brain problems. By the way, all people with CARB syndrome experience a magnified response to stress. Healthy humans with normal brain function handle stress like water off a duck’s back, whereas those with CARB syndrome get stressed when the cat sneezes! Do really think that our ancient ancestors were into “stress management techniques” or mindfulness exercises?
 A Major Scientific Breakthrough
You could certainly argue that it should be easy to ignore the musing of a simple country doctor like myself, but I am not the first professional to notice these trends. In 2003 James I. Hudson, MD, ScD; Barbara Mangweth, PhD and Harrison G. Pope Jr, MD, MPH from McLean Hospital in Boston published a series of articles making a strong argument that a diverse group of medical and psychiatric conditions are actually part of the same pathological process. These conditions include:
·      Major depressive disorder (MDD)
·      ADHD
·      Bulimia nervosa
·      Irritable bowel syndrome
·      Cataplexy
·      Dysthymic disorder
·      Fibromyalia
·      Generalized anxiety disorder
·      Panic disorder
·      PTSD
·      Irritable bowel syndrome
·      Migraine
·      Obsessive compulsive disorder
·      Premenstrual dysphoric disorder
·      Social phobia
They proposed that these fifteen fairly common conditions aggregated together in both individuals and families, suggesting a possible common pathology. They went beyond suggesting that these conditions were co-morbid. They were proposing that they seemed to be part of the same pathological process with a strong hereditary component. In other words, they were proposing that the above 15 conditions were part of the same pathological process and likely shared similar treatments. They called this condition Affective Spectrum Disorder (ASD). As you can imagine, their proposal was considered to be extremely radical by the medical and scientific communities, much more than they could handle in a short period of time. Because they never identified the triggers or pathology of ASD, the concept eventually died on the academic vine. Most physicians and Psychiatrists today have never heard of the disorder.
 A New Disease Process Emerges
Years ago I stumbled across their papers and realized that I was seeing the ASD pattern in many patients in my primary care practice. Over time I concluded that this disorder was triggered by the long-term exposure to highly processed food. Some individuals seemed to be more genetically prone to the ASD/CARB syndrome process. Hudson and Pope suggested that their might be treatments that would simultaneously benefit all of these conditions. Over many decades in my primary care practice, through trial and error I found some simple treatments that seem to completely reverse CARB syndrome over time:
·      The cravings for sweet and starchy foods must first be suppressed with low dose drug combinations and targeted supplements like L-glutamine.
·      Patients need to be educated about the healthiest way to eat. In general a whole foods diet seems to work best. Paleo and ketogenic diets seem to be the most effective for people with advanced CARB syndrome.
·      Serum homocysteine levels must be kept below 7 by using various B vitamins including L-methylfolate.
·      The EPA/AA ratio must be kept between 1 and 3 usually by supplementing with a high-quality omega 3 supplement or eating a lot of small fatty fish like sardines.
·      Monoamine neurotransmitter levels must be restored by giving a mixed precursor supplement containing 5-htp and L-tyrosine in a ratio of 10 to 1.
·      Exercising on a regular basis is good because of its positive effect on brain function.
·      I recommend supplementing with a special form of magnesium called  magnesium L-thronate, the only form to cross the blood brain barrier.
The details of these treatments are beyond the scope of this post but more information can be found at: http://carbsyndrome.com/.
When brain function was restored in my patients through these effective treatments, I found that many of the tricks and workarounds discussed in this article were completely unnecessary. They didn’t need meditation, yoga, mindfulness training, breathing techniques and all the tricks described in the article to deal with distraction and stress. I had to smile when I read the suggestion that people put their smart phone in a drawer so it won’t distract them. In my opinion that’s only true for people with untreated CARB syndrome.
 Bring Back the Flip Phone
For example, one of the best physicians that I have ever worked with is my Cardiologist friend Mike Arsenian. One day I noticed that he was still using a flip phone. I asked him why he didn’t get a smart phone. He gave me a subtle smile and started “because I would probably accidently drop it in the toilet.” I knew the real reason. He had little use for endless “apps” and mainly used his phone to talk to colleagues and patients. If you called his flip phone number, he would always answer 24/7. When you could hear the wind in the background you knew that he was on his lobster boat pulling traps because Mike is also a commercial lobsterman. He runs 4 miles 4-5 times per week and eats a healthy diet. He takes a few supplements that I have recommended. It is very clear that Mike does not have CARB syndrome so most the recommendations in this article would be totally worthless for him and he clearly doesn’t need the mostly useless technology of a smart phone. You could probably also guess his view of social media!
Why Most Scientific Studies are Flawed
This article lists many different scientific studies supporting various activities to improve health and functioning. These are so-called “controlled” studies where people who appear to be the same are divided up into two groups. One group is subjected to the variable being studied while the other is not and at the end to the study the two groups are compared to see if the variable had any effect. The problem is, none of these studies considered whether or not people being studied had CARB syndrome. If an important variable is missed, the results of the study will automatically be flawed. Thus in my opinion virtually all psychiatric studies in recent years are invalid because they missed or ignored the CARB syndrome concept. My wife went to medical school with John Ioannidis who wrote the landmark paper “Why Most Published Research Findings are False.”
 Two Types of Depression?
Another example might be instructive. Depression has been around since the dawn of mankind. It was initially labeled as melancholia or black bile. Patients with melancholia were always severely depressed and they gained no pleasure from any activity. They always lost their appetite and lost weight. They slept poorly and withdrew from family and friends. The only effective treatment for melancholia today is strong drugs called monoamine oxidase inhibitors and electroshock therapy. The incidence of this type of depression has not increased over time and none of the treatment methods outlined in this article will have any positive effect on improving melancholia.
Over the past 50-75 years we started to see a lot of depressed people who have an increased appetite with cravings for sweet and starchy food and weight gain. They also are able to gain some satisfaction from daily activities. They usually respond to SSRI medications and they also often improve with some of the techniques discussed in this article. The folks at DSM who come up with the criteria for psychiatric disorders decided to call this form of depression “atypical depression”.  The incidence of this type of depression has increased at an epidemic rate over the past few decades. The folks at DSM just came out with version V and they consider melancholia and atypical depression to be subtypes of the same disease—major depression disorder (MDD).
Now let’s back up for a minute and start thinking like scientists. If a parameter such as weight qualifies you for a disease throughout the spectrum of the parameter, throw it out because it can’t possibly help you make the diagnosis! In my opinion atypical depression is not really a psychiatric disorder at all and it has no connection to classic depression. It is a brain/metabolic disorder called CARB syndrome and if you fail to treat it like CARB syndrome the patient will get worse rather than better. This isn’t rocket science—it’s plain old fashioned science, a parameter that seems to be sorely missing in the article.
Integrative Medicine—Let the Snake Oil Flow
This article also relies heavily on practitioners of “integrative medicine”. Dr. Andrew Weil who is quoted in this article defines integrative medicine this way: “Integrative medicine is healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative.” Talk about woo-ville. Medicine is either based on solid science or it isn’t. If people want to meditate, eat mindfully (say by chewing on a single raisin), attend a yoga class or practice controlled breathing, go for it. These activities can be enjoyable and satisfying but they are not part of medicine because there is little good science to support their effectiveness at reversing or treating common diseases.
I do agree that getting plenty of direct sun exposure and grounding both likely have health benefits so this article isn’t a total wash, but you have wade through piles of bad stuff to find the few useful tidbits.
This article also discusses at length the history of meditation in various cultures going back thousands of years. It’s important to remember one thing—back then nobody had CARB syndrome. Today trying to use meditation to treat an illness like CARB syndrome is like trying to kill an elephant with a peashooter! If you don’t have CARB syndrome I’m a great fan of some sort of meditation. I get mine as a member of the Greek Orthodox Church but I would never try to use meditation to treat a serious illness like CARB syndrome.
I was especially interested in the section titled “Fourteen Ways to Eat in the Moment (And Love it)” by Michelle May, author of the series of books titled “Eat What you Love, Love What You Eat” series of books. Because of my interest in the connection between diet and brain function I took a careful look at her recommendations. Let’s go through them one by one.
1.     Start with: Do I really want this? This implies that humans need to use their conscious brain to tell them what and how much to eat. This is only true for people with CARB syndrome where their normal automatic hunger drives have been disrupted. People with normal brain function eat on autopilot guided by their bodies’ nutritional needs.
2.     Actually sit down. They site a study showing that people who eat on the go tend to eat more food. In this case it was granola bars. First of all, nobody should be eating granola bars because they are loaded with added sugars, highly refined carbs and bad fats. People with CARB syndrome will never eat the right amount and type of food that their body needs regardless of their body position. People without CARB syndrome will never have to consciously think about food and eating because everything is on autopilot.
3.     Act like a baby. This section suggests that “we should take the time to notice the aroma and flavor of, say, a pizza slice we’re about to shovel down.” Once again I hate to tell you, but if you are eating a lot of pizza you are heading on a fast track to CARB syndrome, poor brain function and poor overall health. I would suggest eating like a healthy adult and let your normal hunger drives be your guide. Of course for that to happen you can’t have CARB syndrome.
4.     Have lunch anywhere but at your desk. They claim that if you eat at your desk you won’t fully experience your meal and you might end up overeating. Once again this is only true for people with CARB syndrome. People with normal brain function can eat anywhere and anytime they want and their intake will be automatically guided by their bodies’ nutritional needs. The human brain evolved to exactly match intake and type of food to what the body needs. The conscious mind isn’t involved in this process unless you have some type of brain dysfunction.
5.     Create a food speed bump. May recommends dividing food on our plate in half to remind us whether or not we really need to clean our plate. Once again, this is only true for people with CARB syndrome. To me this seems just plain silly.
6.     Go wild with Thai takeout. It’s implied that by tasting new ethnic foods you will be less likely to eat on autopilot and overeat. Seriously?
7.     Don’t swear off comfort food. This is one of my favorites. So-called comfort food is the primary trigger of CARB syndrome. If you want to be sick with poor brain function, go for it!
8.     Have candy, just don’t have it handy. “Renowned” food researcher Brain Wansink found that people consumed 125 less calories from Hershey’s Kisses if they moved the candy dishes six feet away from their desks. Once again, if you have CARB syndrome eating any amount of Hershey’s Kisses will fry your brain and eventually put you six feet under. People with healthy brains and no CARB syndrome will likely avoid this type of food no matter where it is placed. By the way, at one point Wansink was discredited for falsifying some of his study results. Perhaps he ate too many Hershey’s Kisses and that affected his ability to think rationally!
9.     Chew like a cow. They discussed a study where people wearing noise blocking headphones ate more cookies, pretzels and chips than those not wearing headphones. Somehow the sound of eating these items made them eat less. I hate to tell you but both groups are heading for CARB syndrome if they continue to eat any amount of this type of toxic food.
10.  Beat buffet syndrome. This section claims that tensing your muscles at a buffet will reduce the amount of food you put on your place. Sounds like a lot of fun but I’d like to see the studies. Once again people with normal brain function will automatically eat the right type and amount of food in any setting. People with CARB syndrome will virtually always eat too much of the wrong type of food. That’s what keeps commercial Buffets in business!
11.  Play with texture. They suggest things like adding crushed salted pretzels to frozen yogurt. I call it a fast track to CARB syndrome. Folks, I hate to tell you but this is not real whole food and if you eat it you will eventually fry your brain and become sick.
12.  Follow the rule of two. You can order a reasonable entrée plus any two things you really want. Have a little cocaine and methamphetamine with your ibuprofen! Wow—this is some of the worst nutritional advice that I have ever heard.
13.  Clean that cluttered kitchen. They claim a neat kitchen will automatically reduce food intake. This may be true for people with CARB syndrome, but as I have already mentioned, people with normal brain function will eat according to their bodies needs regardless of the environment.
14.  End the meal on a favorite. They give an example of finishing a meal with mashed potatoes if that is your favorite food. I hate to tell you but if mashed potatoes are your favorite food you already have CARB syndrome and your brain is in the toilet.
 Mashed up Nutritional Advice
These 14 “tricks” are likely some of the worst nutritional advice that I have ever been exposed to if you want to be healthy. If you really want to know the heathiest way to eat, especially when it comes to brain function, I would start with Joe Mercola’s new book “Fat for Fuel”. In this excellent book he outlines the benefits of consuming a low carbohydrate, moderate protein, high fat (healthy fats) diet. This is an ideal diet to enhance brain function. Next on your reading list should be Jimmy Moore’s book “Keto Clarity”. As with Dr. Mercola he guides you through the benefits of eating healthy fats. One of the best new books out there concerning diet and health is Robb Wolf’s new book “Wired to Eat”. He walks you through a program to individualize your diet based on your own body type and genetics. He also wrote the excellent book “The Paleo Solution Diet”. Robert Lustig, Richard Johnson and Gary Taubes have written excellent books focusing on the toxic effects of fructose from added sugars. All of these scientists and writers are pointing you in the same direction—if you want to be healthy and avoid CARB syndrome, eat a diet low in fructose especially from sugars along with moderate protein and high quality healthy fats. I know these recommendations likely will give the authors of this article heart attacks, but sometimes the truth does hurt!
10 on the Fluff and Woo Scale
In summary, this article contains little or no science and is based on the opinions of various individuals who share Weil’s approach to medicine. If you have CARB syndrome none of these approaches will have any positive effect on your long-term health. You need effective treatment as I have outlined above. If you don’t have CARB syndrome or another serious medical problem, these activities will likely cause little or no harm but you don’t need them to be healthy. This silly article basically outlines the symptoms and thoughts of people with untreated CARB syndrome and unless they get effective treatment their long-term prognosis for good health is poor. For them to be giving advice to you about how to stay healthy in my opinion is mindless and unprofessional. I would give this article a 10 on the fluff and woo scale?
