In “Monster Mash” (1962), the narrator lists two party guests attending the mash as “Dracula and his son.”

This is a reference to Son of Dracula (1943), wherein Lon Chaney Jr. plays Count “Alucard,” a visiting Hungarian nobleman in the Deep South who starts feasting on Louisiana aristocrats.

However, despite the title, the movie never explicitly states that Alucard is Dracula’s son, with varying interpretations leading to speculate that this is either Dracula’s descendant, a human turned into a vampire by Dracula, or Dracula himself (which would make Chaney the only actor to have played all four of the “Big Four” Universal monsters, having also played The Wolf Man, Frankenstein’s monster, and The Mummy).

The only other progeny of Dracula in the Universal canon is the Countess Marya Zaleska from Dracula’s Daughter (1936) played by Gloria Holden.

In fact, in children’s media in particular, Dracula tends to beget daughters rather than sons. Examples include Draculaura from the Monster High doll series, as well as Chocola from Osamu Tezuka’s Don Dracula (1979), Sibella from Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School (1988), and Mavis from Hotel Transylvania (2010).

Sons of Dracula are kind of rare. Castlevania III (1989) introduced Alucard, who would later see massive popularity following his starring role in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (1997) and his tritagonist role in the 2017 Castlevania series on Netflix, and Count Downe was featured in the 1974 horror comedy musical Son of Dracula as portrayed by Harry Nilsson, which I only mention here so I can show you this picture of Ringo Starr dressed as Merlin.

We are left with four options:

Dracula’s son at the Monster Mash is Chaney’s Alucard, despite the lack of evidence to his patrilineal claim.

Dracula’s son at the Monster Mash is Castlevania’s Alucard or Nilsson or another character who came out after the song’s release.

Dracula’s son at the Monster Mash is a new, unnamed character invented for the song.

One of the many things I enjoy doing is workin on USB drives, especially if it involves music I enjoy and love so I have been workin on, on a usb drive, my own Kissology…..the actual "Ultimate" Kissology. (5 Volumes: 1: 1973-1979 (Granted the 1973 portion, 1973.12.22 Coventry, is part of the bonus audios, couldn't find the video of the show so had to improvise) 2: 1980-1988 + Paul Stanley New Haven 1989 3: 1990-1999 4: 2000-2010 5: 2013-2023

Each one has folders of bonus audio (Mostly live concerts but Volume 3 also has Revenge Demos, Revenge Work in Progress, and a fan made, I guess you can call it Alive III Extended, called "Live from the Revenge Tour"). Volume 3 also has all the Second Coming Outtake footage as well. IDC if this doesn't count but I wanted to include this, on Volume 4, one of the bonus videos is What's New Scooby-Doo? Halloween episode featuring Kiss. Also I wanted to show some love for Eddie Kanon so Volume 3 also has the Columbus 1997 show. Some cuts are from official Kissology releases but hey, what can you do, right? I will soon be adding all kinds of extra material like Paul's "One Live Kiss" concert film, this 6 CD Eric Carr Boxset, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, Gene Simmons Vault (all 11 discs), Audio of the Kiss Kruise shows, Kiss Symphony Alive IV, and more.

DELLA REESE: FIRST BLACK WOMAN TO GUEST HOST 'THE TONIGHT SHOW'

Delloreese Patricia Early (July 6, 1931 – November 19, 2017), known professionally as Della Reese, was an American jazz and gospel singer, actress, and ordained minister whose career spanned seven decades.

Della Reese was born Delloreese Patricia Early, in the historic Black Bottom neighborhood of Detroit, Michigan.

In 1944, she began her career directing the young people's choir, after she had nurtured acting plus her obvious musical talent. She was often chosen, on radio, as a regular singer. At the age of 13, she was hired to sing with Mahalia Jackson's gospel group. Reese entered Detroit's Cass Technical High School (where she attended the same year as Edna Rae Gillooly, later known as Ellen Burstyn). She also continued with her touring with Jackson. With higher grades, she became in 1947 the first in her family to graduate from high school, aged 15.

After this she formed her own gospel group, the Meditation Singers.

She began her long career as a singer, scoring a hit with her 1959 single "Don't You Know?". In the late 1960s she hosted her own talk show, Della, which ran for 197 episodes.

In 1970, Reese became the first black woman to guest host The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. She appeared in several TV movies and miniseries, was a regular on Chico and the Man and played the mother of B. A. Baracus in The A-Team episode "Lease with an Option to Die". In 1991, she starred opposite her old friend Redd Foxx in his final sitcom, The Royal Family, but his death halted production of the series for several months. Reese also did voice-over for the late 1980s Hanna-Barbera animated series A Pup Named Scooby-Doo on ABC. Reese achieved continued success in the religious television drama Touched by an Angel (1994–2003), in which she played the leading role of Tess.

From 1975 she also starred in films, playing opposite Redd Foxx in Harlem Nights (1989), Martin Lawrence in A Thin Line Between Love and Hate (1996) and Elliott Gould in Expecting Mary (2010).

The world of rock music has lost one of its brightest stars. Steve Harwell, the lead singer and co-founder of Smash Mouth, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, at his home in Boise, Idaho. He was 56 years old. His manager confirmed that he died of liver failure, a condition that he had been battling for a long time. Harwell was not only a talented singer, but also a pop culture icon. He was famous for his distinctive voice and charismatic personality, as well as his hit songs such as "All Star" and "I'm a Believer". He had an amazing career in the music industry, spanning over three decades and selling over 10 million albums worldwide with his band. He also had a colorful life, marked by his passion for music.

He was born on January 9, 1967, in Santa Clara, California. He grew up in San Jose, where he developed an interest in rap music and joined a group called F.O.S. (Freedom of Speech). He later switched to rock music and formed Smash Mouth with his friend Kevin Coleman, along with Greg Camp and Paul De Lisle. Harwell was influenced by various artists, such as Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and The Clash.

Harwell and his bandmates started their career in 1994, playing at local venues and festivals. They caught the attention of a radio station that played their demo songs, which led to a record deal with Interscope Records. Their debut album, Fush Yu Mang , was released in 1997 and featured their first hit single, "Walkin' on the Sun", which reached number one on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart and number two on the Hot 100 chart.

Their second album, Astro Lounge , was released in 1999 and became their most successful album to date. It contained their signature song, "All Star", which topped the charts in several countries and became a pop culture phenomenon. The song was featured in the soundtrack of the animated film Shrek , as well as other movies and TV shows. It also earned them a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group. Another popular song from the album was "I'm a Believer", a cover of The Monkees' classic song, which also appeared in Shrek .

Smash Mouth continued to release more albums in the 2000s and 2010s, such as Get the Picture? , The Gift of Rock , Summer Girl , Magic , and Rise and Shine . They experimented with different genres and styles, such as ska punk, reggae, country, and disco. They also collaborated with other artists, such as Baha Men, Eddie Money, J.D. McPherson, and Caravan Palace. Harwell also pursued a solo career, releasing two songs for the animated film Pororo: The Racing Adventure in 2013.

Harwell received many accolades and achievements for his music career. He won several awards from MTV, Billboard , Teen Choice , ASCAP , BMI , and others. He also performed at various events and venues around the world, such as the Super Bowl XXXVII halftime show, the World Series , the Olympic Games , Disneyland , and Carnegie Hall . He also appeared on several TV shows and movies, such as The Surreal Life , Rat Race , American Idol , Dancing with the Stars , Family Guy , Kim Possible , Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated , and SpongeBob SquarePants .

He died on September 4, 2023, after being in hospice care for final stage chronic liver failure. He is survived by his wife Michelle Laroque Harwell.

Harwell will be remembered as one of the most influential singers of his generation.
