So like. Did anyone else notice that Jayce doesn't immediately shoot Viktor? He only powers his hammer on AFTER Viktor has opened his eyes. Below is Jayce's reaction to seeing Viktor (his Viktor, from his universe, not the future version of him) for the first time after walking into the dome. For the first time in months. That's like. A look of wonder. Almost reverence.

Assuming the Jinx/Rictus/Vander fight is cut to real-time after Jayce has gone into the dome, he's staring at Viktor for like. 5 minutes.

My interpretation here, of Jayce's expression just before Viktor finally opens his eyes to see Jayce in the room with him, he's committing Viktor to memory, before he has to kill him.

Edit: I almost missed it but like. HE IS SMILING For like 2 frames it's an outright smile. He leans in towards him, too. I cannot handle this.

I think what fucks me up the most about the Malevolence arc is that at some level - that early in the war - the venerators have to have felt SAFE you know? It takes a lot to breach a venerator and even more to actually disable it. And it's one thing to know something isn't as safe as it feels but it's another to have that demonstrated. and then even the failsafes aren't safe because you can still be hunted. And you're impossibly vulnerable because all that's between you and a bad death are several inches of steel and glass.

IDK man I just keep thinking about the Malevolence and wonder if Boost, Sinker and Wolffe ever actually felt safe on a star ship again.

You may notice that every single time i draw Whalepawn Ahab she has a look of displeasure on her face, just due to the generally displeasing nature of the whole "fully aware while you are being forced, not only to stop pursuing the destruction of your hated foe--but to act in its favor" thing, which she is very unhappy about and thus always seems much less energetic and more restrained than in her usual poses/expressions (because she is , in fact, attempting to restrain herself out of spite) . but also . i do think there are brief periods where it Gets To Her Fully and the influence cuts so deep that she isn't even aware enough to resist it, so she just starts acting like her regular fervent self again but this time In Favor of the whale which is , perhaps, scarier

anyway. i was talking about this and I got reminded of a really stupid video I watched a few years ago with a character who got possessed and then unironically spoke the dialogue "yo what the frick guys just happened i couldn't control what i was saying or doing" and now I can't stop thinking about that phrase so i made Ahab say it

also this . i don't know if this is funnier to interpret as her unconsciously being influenced again into attacking the other threats (her crew) instead of herself or if she really just wants to fucking stab starbuck for her own reasons

It kind of fucks with me that we never see Casper Darling himself ingame.

He's so important but we never see him physically, only through presentations and recordings that makes it feel like we just missed him. Like the guy doesn't even have a model. Jesse has never seen him in the flesh, but almost everyone else has. It makes it feel like he is here, as connected as everyone else, but he isn't, he's gone.

Even when we see him in Alan Wake II, it's the same case, only through TV screens. Such a lively person that we never see alive.

"You're going to get fat if you keep that up." You roll your eyes and scoff. You were the peak of athletic physique. What's a little treat once in a while? A meager cupcake. You could work it off in less than 5 minutes. You rolled your eyes again and ate the cupcake.

"You really need to be careful.." At it again? This time, a smoothie? With protein powder no less?? You were going to run it off, no problem. The protein was going to help with that. You smiled and ate your candy bar as you drank your smoothie.

"You're looking a little puffy." You glare at them. You had been visiting the gym 3 days a week! Down from your normal 5, sure... But you were still working out with ease. Your stomach bore the faintest roundness, as if you were bloated. You roll your eyes and continue eating your lunch.

"Have you put on weight?" Sure, the 3 day gym workouts have dwindled to once a week, and sure, your gum clothes were getting tight in spots, but you weren't that big. Your stomach just puffed up ever so slightly past your waistband! You could suck it in with ease.. But when you sat down, you definitely looked bigger..

"Your clothes are looking a little tight.." You glare at them. Your shirt could not hide the rounded form of your stomach. You tried sucking it in, but there was no denying- you've put on weight. The scale registered a bigger number, and your clothes clung everso tighter. You continued your bigger than usual lunch...

"Your stomach is getting big.." A sizable spare tire, your belly jutted out in front of you. It took up part of your lap when you sat. Going to the gym was a distant dream, and you regularly partook in bigger than average meals. You had gone up a few sizes, and your limbs and fave were softer. You ignored them. What's a few pounds, anyway? It wasn't that much.

"Your belly is getting really big.." you huffed, heaving yourself down onto your seat. It creaked in protest under your bulk. Your belly sat heavily, covering most of your lap, and pushed up against the table. Fast food again.. You ate your large order, your shirt didn't cover your protruding belly all the way, and your sides spilled out over your waistband. Sure, driving was getting a little difficult, but you were still relatively small..

"You're getting enormous.." you waddle behind them, huffing and puffing with exertion. Your belly slapped your meaty thighs and everything rippled and quivered with each labored step. Most clothes didn't fit you, and you needed to be driven around now. You didn't care, you could still move! The buffet was really close.. Just a few more steps...

"You've blown up, you look like a blimp." you huffed, panting for breath. You stopped walking months ago. Your form swelling up larger with every calorie consumed, beached in your room, continuing to grow larger. Your ass spread out under you and your enormous thighs splayed to the side to accommodate your massive belly. It rested feet in front of you, rising and falling with each breath... Maybe you were getting fat...

"You're unrecognizable and massive. You look like a bloated whale."  You didn't care. You felt your body spread out under you in multiple directions. The rhythmatic hum and pump of the feeding machine, pumping more calorie laden slop into your enormous form. Breathing best you could, you knew you were massive. Gargantuan even. You had been moved to a different facility to continue growing and you were starting to outgrow this one. Your sides were puffing closer outwards towards the walls.. But you didn't care. Your heart pounded with excitement and lust thinking about your slop filling you up. Making you even more unrecognizable and larger..

I've got big opinions on dream sequences in writing. Which is mostly that they really shouldn't be there like 90% of the time because they grind the narrative to a halt, but I think they CAN have value. It's just that they tend to be executed in a way that's kind of pointless.

It's mostly that a lot of writers have the sequences be literal 1:1 depictions of the character's anxieties or feelings, or otherwise the absolute most on the nose symbolism possible. And it's not like dreams are NEVER like that, but why bother stopping the narrative to include a full sequence that essentially just repeats information the reader already knows?

If it's established that Character A is scared that Character B will get murdered by Jeff the Killer, and then A has an entire dream sequence of B getting Jeff the Killed and A wakes up sweating like 'Noooooooooo I do not want that to happen noooooo' it's jsut like. Yeah I knew that already?
