When you get an insanely mid role in the school play so you have to make said character that appears in 3 scenes total a little spotify playlist as a treat

a few more thoughts about the bear…
I think I heard somewhere that the music in the show is supposed to reflect Carmy’s playlist or his own taste in music. This is interesting to me because if we can assume that Carmy is in his early 30s I don’t think that REM and Pearl Jam would be his go-to. He’s an angsty loner growing up in Chicago at the height and creation of pop punk and he just gives me more of a contemporary rock vibe. Then I thought about whose music choices would go with the selections that have been made and they are definitely in the Mikey/Richie era.
I realized that Carmy’s music taste come from Mikey and that’s why it seems a little outdated for the character 😩 Mikey’s impact is in and around so much of them that while it’s beautiful it can often be suffocating, down to his choice in music. As my Jeff @escapism-through-imagination put it, I hope as Carmy grows more into his own person and stops chasing Mikey’s shadows or trying to fix his mistakes that the music can feel more personal to Carmen as a character.

For the music ask thing!!! 23 and 30!!!!
Music ask game
23. A song you think everybody should listen to
Ooh okay I have a lot of answers for this one so I'll go with the one that I think the smallest amount of people have heard already which is Don't Call Me In The Morning by Josh Fix
30. A song that reminds you of yourself
Okay that one's a lot trickier. Honestly my instinct is to say there aren't any but I guess if Forced to choose I would go with Deeper Than The Holler by Randy Travis. I always thought it was a beautiful song when I was younger and now that I'm older (though not that much) and my heart is even more full of love, I resonate with it even more.

The fact that Anakin gets literally set on fire and reborn while the rebel cell Ahsoka works for is named Phoenix Squadron will never not be funny to me
I don’t even think she came up with the name I think she’s just physically incapable of being Painfully On the Nose At All Times

i listened to the fall out boy version of we didn’t start the first (listing 1989-2023 world events) and can i just say. first of all the original song is silly and not that deep in its commentary but at least it was like an original idea. there’s a reason your 11th grade history teacher played it in your class in the cold war unit, right? it sets a scene and a mood without even having to do anything but listing a bunch of pop culture and political iconography. but there’s also like, a sequence of events. fob’s really just throws events and names of things together sloppily in no particular order other than if they kinda rhyme. it has a lot less impact when thinking about the recent historical or present moment bc it’s just like “thing you remember, other thing you remember, other thing you remember” but from one object to the next they have no particular connection to each other in space or time. it’s poorly associated.
