Love, Simon (2018)

Simon Spier keeps a huge secret from his family, his friends and all of his classmates: he's gay. When that secret is threatened, Simon must face everyone and come to terms with his identity.

JayBell: Okay, let's start with the positives. Yes, it's nice to have mainstream movies that are more inclusive. Representation is important, and it's cool to see people happy that their experiences are shown on a big screen.

Because I know this movie is meaningful to so many, I don't wanna be too harsh on it. But overall, I just thought it was fine. Like the acting was fine, the dialogue wasn't too bad, and I really like the mystery component. I was very invested in the mystery, and it was fun to predict the identity of Simon's pen pal.

Simon's friends do irritate me. When they find out the truth, I feel like they're lacking empathy in a weird way. Sure, it's kind of gross that he tries to keep his friends apart from their teenage romance, but they have no sympathy for him being blackmailed at all? Even after he was forcibly outed? They're not understanding at all. With that said, I think their reunion scene is missing something more.

Most of all, I thought the ending scene on the ferris wheel with the whole school watching is a bizarre decision for Simon. Like he's pressuring this guy to come out like this? In front of all these people? I feel like it would have made sense for it to be more private. But then again, that wouldn't be dramatic enough for a movie.

Anzie: I have to say I realllly have wanted to see this movie for years. I loved Nick Robinson in Being Charlie and Jack Antonoff was in charge of the music- I am shamefully still listening to all the songs from this soundtrack on the daily - maybe pushing it by at leaaaast monthly. And pls don’t remind me of the year that was bc I don’t wanna think about these being “old songs.” I’ve been listening to Jack Antonoffs stuff religiously since I was like 13 sooo we’re off to a great start. And I am really ashamed to say this movie made me feel very mehhhh. And the music was the best part for me. And okkkk maybe I’m just tooooo removed from the youths these day- but I had some qualms.

First and foremost most - it is a very good story, and an important one. It’s just done so poorly and in a very icky and cringe inducing way and I really wonder how it differs from its book. It’s okay and fun at first - ohhhh who’s blue- it’s him, no it’s him, no it’s got be him- So it was fun to keep guessing which characters it could be. But uhhh. The fact is I knoooooow from growing up using a PUBLIC computer for emails you would nevvvver leave your email up. Like you sign out and recheck that you’re signed out a thooousand times. And also like this is a big secret - why are you checking at school when it’s a secret??? Like I get it it’s looove and obseessssion. But I’d be paranoid. And obviously with good reason.

- I felllllt the cringe of the evil guy and his tshirts that all said something witty and punny. I am ashamed to say I had one or two too many of thoseeee.

- I also swear I’ve been in that exact high school theater room.

- I alsoooo swear that that Panic at the Disco reference was like a dagger to my soul. And it was the Vices and Virtues Era Brendon Urie- can I die now???

But uhhh yeah I hate his friends and he should have never forgave him??? Like there’s a lot of drama happening- buttt to turn on him?!?!? Wowza.

And the Ferris Wheel scene. I couldn’t. And these kids have no shame. To just stand and watch?!?!? How awkwarddddd let them have a moment. Anyway. It’s def a okay watch but Idk. The friends are just sooo annoying and self centered.It really ruins it bc it is an important message and story.

* Plus I endured too many war flashbacks I have actively pushed from my psyche since high school while watching this- so the cringe and awkward acting was felt tenfold.

i think people really read the "don't lie to me" scene in the wrong way. i get that it's easy to be like oh he's jealous of teresa which means he loves thomas! and its tempting to read it that way. and while i think that is one element you can take away from the scene, it's both a) not a thing to romanticize especially in a loud and almost violent outburst like this and b) he's not in his right mind because of the flare. you can see immediately afterwards he apologizes and is ashamed, so we really shouldn't read his actions here as completely his own. we can say maybe they offer a glimpse into his subconscious or uninhibited self, but we shouldn't draw specific, romantic conclusions from it.

Okay so, this is random but I wanted to share it with y’all...

So first off, my English class is reading The Invisible Man (I haven’t actually read it though, I’m not in the right mental space for it rn because I don’t want to go into an Existential crisis again) but one of the projects that goes along with it is a sound track to our life. And I wanted to share mine with y’all...

So first off it’s going to be simply tittled “and-claudia” based off my tumblr. And that’s basically what my set list is, songs that represent who I am from the fandoms I either am a part of still or that had a major impact on my life. Here’s the list in order:

1. Story of My Life by One Direction

This may surprise some but yes back in the day I was a directioner. Like hardcore... I’m ashamed to admit that but I was. They were the first concert I went to, Midnight Memories, and although I don’t really listen to them anymore they were still a huge part of my life and I feel like this song really sets up the rest of the playlist.

2. Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas

I’ve said it a couple times but Supernatural is my comfort show. I started watching it when I was in a really low place in life mentally, and it was always a pick me up. I haven’t finished the show though because in my mind once I do, then that’s it, and I’m scared that if I do then I’ll loose my comfort show.

3. Netflix Trip by AJR

This kinda ties in with my previous song. Although I do watch the office (which is what this song is about) it’s meaning still runs true for other shows. Mainly the lines “who I am is in these episodes, so don’t you tell me that it’s just a show.” People like me who get “obsessed” (I don’t like that word) with shows do it for a reason and my reason is because I find comfort in them. So when people (ie my parents) say it’s just a tv show, it hurts because to me it’s not, it’s a part of who I am.

4. Death of a Bachelor by Panic! At the Disco

This one is killing two birds with one stone. After my boy band phase I jumped into the “emo” phase of my life. This is where I was introduced to the wonderful world of Panic! FOB and TOP. This song was also my first ever dance solo, so it has a special connection to me.

5. The Game of Thrones theme

Taking a step away from lyrics, I wanted to include some themes from my favorite shows. The first being Game of Thrones, I’ve watched and rewatched this series. Again it’s a comfort thing for me. And I liked how there were so many different story lines to follow, it was easy to connect with so many different characters. This show is full of comfort characters of mine, and that’s why it hold a special place in my heart. Also the songs a bop and you can’t tell me otherwise.

6. Centuries by Fall Out Boy

Like I said I went though a mini emo phase at one point and this song has always been a favorite of mine. Everyone wants to leave their mark somehow, I’m no different. I hope that I leave my mark in some form of contribution to the study of meteorology. And also I’ve always said I want this song played at my funeral. I want to put the “fun” in funeral.

7. Kitchen Sink by Twenty One Pilots

Again, this is a huge comfort song to me. The lyrics are a bit absurd, but that’s why I love them. Mainly “I’m a kitchen sink, you don’t know what that means because a kitchen sink to you is not a kitchen sink to me.” That line speaks to me so much because for me it highlights how some of the smallest things that we hold near and dear to our hearts don’t mean anything to others and that’s okay because we know what it means and it doesn’t have to have meaning to someone else for it to be important to you.

8. The Avengers theme

I’m a nerd at heart. I’ve seen all the Avengers movies and it’s something that me and my step dad bond over. I also know how to play this song on trumpet, which is running joke in my family now. But for me this song just gets me excited to watch a movie with some of my favorite characters in it.

9. The Mandalorian theme

I don’t think it’s a shock to anyone here that I love the Mandalorian. It was the first Star Wars show I watched and is actually part of the reason I got into Star Wars in the first place. Everyone was talking about baby Yoda and Ben Solo/Kylo Ren last year and that’s when I got interested in just to see what the hype was and when I watched the Mandalorian I fell in love with it. Pedro Pascal is such an amazing character, and I absolutely adore this show.

10. Agoraphobic by CORPSE

The first time I heard this song, it really hit home with the opening lines. “I can’t do shit right, I can’t learn my lesson” stuck out to me because it’s a perfect reflection of how I feel sometimes. This is definitely my go to crying in the car song, I pull up the hour loop of it and drive and it’s very therapeutic. This song also stands in to represent my new found love of watch streamers play games. In like 4th grade I would watch SkyDoesMinecraft, The Diamond Minecart, TBone, and then I eventually started watching Jacksepticeye and Markiplier a few years after but as I got older I stopped watching them. But here recently I’ve started to watch Jack and Mark again, as well as starting to watch Corpse and Ludwig and it has really reminded me how much I love seeing them just enjoy having fun.

11. Wow, I’m Not Crazy by AJR

This one is dedicated to y’all. Yes you read that right, you guys are featured on the soundtrack to my life because y’all have made such an impact on me. I’ve been on this app for I think a year in half maybe two years and I never expected to get over 100 followers or to have a story that is exceeding 30 parts. It blows my mind how much support y’all have shown me. And while I know I’ll probably never be like blogs that have 1000s of followers, I am more than happy with the ones I have. Y’all have made my life so much better and so this song is for you. It talks about being different, and finding someone who’s different like you and finding a connection with them, which is what I’ve done here. Most of here probably would never be as forward about our love of our fandoms to everyone in their real lives but on here everyone is “crazy” about what they love and that’s amazing honestly. I love being here, and I love that y’all have chosen to join me.

12. Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story from Hamilton

This is the closing song. I think it’s very fitting, and while it does go against Centuries by FOB, I think it still delivers a great message for everyone listening. No matter what you do here on earth, you don’t get to choose how people remember you, all you can do is try and leaving a good mark for yourself and hope others view it that way as well.

The other day, the lovely @hiddlestanss asked me what kind of music I listen to. I didn't have an answer ready because I love music. Music is my entire universe, it is what my soul is made of, I love it, and I don't judge based on genre or even artist. It always comes down to each song. I mean, there are a few that can be generalized because I either detest with a fiery passion every single thing I have ever heard by them (Taylor Swift, Panic at the Disco, My Chemical Romance, Lady Gaga) or adore every song, or nearly every song I've ever heard by them (Korn and no I'm not ashamed to say that, All Time Low, pre-2000s Madonna, The Moody Blues) but for the most part, it depends on the song.

An actor’s most cherished talent is their ability to reinvent themselves, donning any number of masks to hide their true face and instead portray that of another.

Roman was…exceptionally practiced at this particular skill.

From the moment he had first laid foot in the home of the Light Sides, he had been built up, celebrated; honoured as brave, courageous, noble. He stood tall and mighty, aware of his importance, aware of how much they loved him and how utterly indispensable he was—not only to Thomas, but to the other Sides, as well. He was strong, valuable, fearless, and enjoyed living up to these expectations, always meeting or exceeding them and never slowing down, because why should he? He was bold. He was powerful. He was unbreakable.

He was the Good Creativity. He was important. He had work to do, and challenges to face.

Innovation poured from his pen in great torrents, song after video after sketch, building Thomas up, building the others up, encouraging them all to meet and exceed their potential, to always take the extra step, make the extra leap forward to greatness and significance.

Roman became a symbol for more than just Creativity.

Courage. Success. Confidence. All things he now represented, titles to nurture and crowns to bear proudly. He was not ashamed of his achievements. And he was excited, ever so excited for each new day, each new challenge to face, each new obstacle to overcome.

He was the Good Creativity. He was a standard that had to be upheld.

See, the trouble with such an unwavering incline in achievements and innovation is that eventually it must slow down. Humans are, after all, not like machines or characters in a play, and need to take time to breathe, rest, reset. Creativity is not a limitless tap—but it does recharge, with time.

Roman found this incredibly frustrating.

Success, he argued, was not something you could simply wait to acquire. Success required a devoted, steadfast stream of accomplishments, effort, determination—because the moment you let up, the second you break character, those around you will dig their heels into your shoulders in order to elevate themselves. Success is a matter of how far and how fast you are willing to climb, and what you are willing to do to reach it.

Dreams unfold upon the ashes of dreams.

Roman’s work was never done. Script after script. Song after song. He churned out creations, works to display, musings to share with the world. Always improved. Each better than the last. Always refining, never slowing, because if he hesitated for even a second then those in his dust would catch up to him and he would be left behind, not good enough, never good enough.

He had to prove he was better.

What the others thought of his brother was no secret. His brother was Dark, his brother was evil, his brother was not wanted. They had no use or desire for him.

And what made Roman any different?

Your goodness, Patton would say. You create nice things. Remus creates horrible things.

But where, Roman couldn’t help but wonder, was the line? What separated ‘good’ from ‘evil’, ‘light’ from ‘dark’? Surely it was but a matter of preference, of opinion, of what the individual had learned throughout their life to be accepted or admonished?

That was, ultimately, the reason the Split had occurred in the first place.

Creativity had been torn into two entities, Roman and Remus, Remus and Roman, ‘good’ and ‘evil’. 

And evil was not wanted. That much was clear, had been made clear from the very moment Roman had first grappled his way into existence. Evil lost friends. Evil lost acceptance. Evil meant nobody would listen to you, because you only caused hurt, pain, fear. ‘Evil’ was every villain of every show he had ever seen, always the losing side, never the happy ending.

And Roman was not evil. He made sure of that, tried so hard to make sure of that.

After all, could someone truly evil create such beautiful things, such exquisite artwork? And Roman was a prince! Princes were not evil, practically by default—this, of course, the reasoning behind why he had selected this moniker for himself in the first place, and fought so hard to make sure it wasn’t forgotten.

But he was running out of steam.

The quality of his creations was starting to diminish: not as popular, not as pretty, not as original. But he persevered. He had to keep going, because if he stopped, if they didn’t have a use for him anymore, if they saw through the cracks in his mask despite how he tried so hard to conceal them, then they would throw him away like they had done his brother. Like they had done Remus.

Roman did not want to be alone.

He had to prove he was worth their time. He had to prove he was worth something. He had to pay for the love that they gave, atone for their adoration, because if he stopped providing, they would stop giving, and he would be left alone and worthless and unnecessary and he wouldn’t, couldn't, can’t have that.

He had to prove he was worthy.

Minutes turned to hours turned to days spent locked behind his door, heaps of discarded scripts tossed offhandedly into empty space, neatly at first, then merely cast in the general direction of the trash as he clawed urgently for the next idea, the next project, the next success, because this would be the one, this one would prove it to them, this would show he was worth keeping around, indisputably, that he wasn’t evil, that he wasn’t his brother.

The papers piled up, Roman’s notebook overflowing with discarded ideas, and yet Thomas’s remained blank.

Once, Patton found him, head in his hands past four in the morning, torn up pages obscuring his desk and floor and half-full coffee mugs littering worksurfaces. He had been led gently to bed, and the next day Roman did not miss the sympathetic glances the others thought he couldn’t see. He didn’t miss the demeaningly cautious tone to Patton’s voice, Virgil’s uncharacteristic lack of teasing insults, the way Logan didn’t correct him, even when he purposefully misused the word ‘inchoate’ just to get a rise from him.

He had failed them. He was supposed to be strong. He was supposed to be confident, proud, indomitable. Most of all, he was supposed to be creative.

That was his symbol, his mark, his purpose. It had to be upheld. He could not allow it to slip between his fingers, fall and shatter, scatter into a million tiny, irredeemable pieces, each too small to be of any consequence or concern.

He couldn’t allow them to see him stumble, because in a moment he would be gone, cast out, forgotten. Not worthy, not ‘good’, not enough.

He had to be stronger, he had to be unyielding, he had to act the part—and act he would. Acting was one of the few talents he actually possessed, one of the few uses he had, and he would damn well make the most of it.

An emotional mask, to an actor, is elementary. Change your face, portray another, hide your true thoughts and emotions and instead channel those of someone else, someone without the meagre concerns of your own life.

Roman donned his mask—someone proud, someone self-assured, someone powerful and determined and Good.

He would not let the mask break. He would patch the cracks before they showed, with wit and charm, magnificence and splendour. Because if they couldn’t see him beneath the extravagance, if they were unable to peer too hard into the shining brilliance lest they damage their eyes, they’d never even know the cracks were there.

He would be brave. He would be proud. Most of all, he would be ‘Good’.

He was not like his brother. He was not horrible. He was worthy, he was wanted, he was loved, and cherished, and appreciated. He was. Of course he was. 

He had to make it. He had to be good enough. Because if he wasn’t, if he couldn’t do the only thing he’d ever been good at, what use was he to them? What worth did he have?

Without his mask, what else was left?

The mask had become so rudimentary, so ingrained in his flesh that he wasn’t sure he even existed beyond it any more. He had been acting the part for so long, he wasn’t sure he could stop. He wasn’t sure he wanted to.

‘Roman’ had become nothing more than a character he portrayed, his greatest and most elaborate creation. And he had been playing this ‘Roman’ for so long, this bold and brave and extravagant prince, he wasn’t sure he remembered who he had been before.

Had he been anyone before?

Or was this all he was? A shell? A vessel through which a character was to be portrayed?

Maybe he was never supposed to change, to question. Maybe he was supposed to just keep creating, keep acting, continue playing the part of this bold, brave prince.

That was his function, after all. His purpose. And as long as he existed in some shape or form, he must continue to uphold it, no matter how much he may wish otherwise. 

As long as he kept creating, as long as he paid for his place, upheld his standard, he couldn’t be forgotten. Couldn’t be overlooked.

These challenges strengthened him, fleshed out his character for a bigger and better and bolder performance. This pain led to amelioration. And if he kept pushing away the negative feelings, no matter how insistently they tried to tear him down, he would be able to soldier forward.

He is an actor, after all. And the show must go on.

That’s when you try...a different approach, and Yoongi is not pleased.

“Is that all?” Yoongi raised a questioning eyebrow.

It had been a solid two weeks since Taehyung was moved to better treatment. Two weeks and you had yet to learn much about him. He didn’t speak to you when you came to talk to him, he rarely responded. You deduced he either had balls of steel or was terrified out his mind. You chose the former considering his serious disposition. Even if he wasn’t in this situation, you suspected he would be a rather serious man.

“Yes.” You paused. “Well, I found out his favorite color is gray.”

“Oh?”

“It wasn’t on purpose. He didn’t tell me, but you know me, Yoongi,” You glanced to meet his eyes for the first time this whole meeting. “You know I’m an observer. I see the smallest twitch of relaxation when there’s a gray colored item. Of course, he’s a smart man...” You trailed off. Taehyung could be deceiving you to believe one way.

“And what have you done with this information?” The pale man didn’t seem amused.

“I’ve taken away anything gray.” That also meant you had to change up your wardrobe, which was annoying. Gray was a go to color of yours. In the morning, you had to ignore a third of your wardrobe. You were still using a subtle torture. Depraving him of certain colors and shapes was a softer way to approach this. You had seen excellent results in the past with this method, but it was often a slow burn.

Yoongi nodded his head slowly, seemingly thinking deeply. He didn’t return your gaze and instead looked toward the ceiling.

“Interesting.”

There was a long pause. You really had nothing else to report. Taehyung woke up at 3 A.M. in the freaking morning everyday, if you could even call that morning. He managed to wake up before you. And with your absolutely fucked sleep schedule, he was almost making your life hell. wait a minute.

“Can I be dismissed?” You quickly said, already starting to stand up.

“You’ve figured something out, haven’t you?” He finally met your eyes. You had this spark, a sudden realization. You just nodded, trying to get out as soon as possible. You had a lot to discuss with Jimin.

“Fine, you’re dismissed.” Usually he wouldn’t allow such an outburst, but it was you. He had vowed never to yell at you again after what happened.

You found the silver haired man relaxing on a bench outside of one of the torture rooms. “Jimin.” You grabbed his arm hurriedly and hoisted him up to follow you before he could even say hi. He fell into step with you and panted after his rude awakening.

“What? Did something happ-”

“Jimin, Taehyung has been toying with us.” You almost shouted. Then you looked around the hallway, seeing it to be clear, and then lowered your voice.

“What do you mean.” Jimin hissed. He may be soft for the mafia, but he did not enjoy being fooled with.

“Taehyung has been making our lives miserable. He observed us, learned our patterns, and knew how to use them against us. We may be the ones in power, but Taehyung has managed to weasel his way in.” You paused to take a breath. Jimin stood, mouth agape.

“So...So he knew about...”

“He knew you’re soft. He knows I wake up at 5 A.M. so he pushed it further. He’s depriving us of sleep and humanity.” You bit your lip, thinking. What has he been doing? He just sits there, he doesn’t try to escape. He doesn’t talk, but he gives you just enough information. How did he learn to read people so well? It’s impossible for him to know everything about us from just us going in and out of that room...The color drained of your face as you thought of another possibility. No, it can’t be- Jimin pulled you out of your thoughts, saying the words you couldn’t bring yourself to say.

“He’s a distraction.”

“You’re not a monster, but you’re not the woman I fell in love with.” Yoongi stood stiff. He was always so blunt.

“Might I remind you,” You seethed, hands gripping the back of the seat tightly, your knuckles turning white. “You made me this way.”

He looked away, almost ashamed. “You wanted a job here, you didn’t want to feel like dead weight. I gave you a job.”

You scoffed, “Don’t blame this on me, Yoongi.”

“Fine.” He crossed his arms, leaning casually against the window sill. The office felt so dark, a tense fog filling the room. “The position was open and I saw you as just another worker who could fill it. I could have promoted Jimin, but I gave you respect and prestige.”

“You gave me hell.” You would get to his other insults in a moment, but you needed to think. You were so enraged you could barely breathe. You were so distraught you tears springing to your eyes. But you refused to let him see you cry. You bit back the lump in your throat, swallowing thickly. A moments pause and the room felt like a tinderbox ready to catch fire. All that was needed was the matchstick to light everything ablaze.

You feared setting the room ablaze, but then you looked at his eyes, cold and merciless. And you decided, this room feels stuffy anyway, it would look prettier ablaze. You took a deep breath.

“Funny, that you can speak of prestige and respect when everyone is just terrified of you. There’s no respect in sight, just fear.” You stated plainly. “And I don’t fear you, but I sure as hell will never respect you after this. We’re over, Yoongi.” You knew you had wounded him sufficiently. You grabbed your bag, deciding that the ashes falling around you weren’t salvageable, and stormed out of the room. The office door slammed shut and you swore you would never step foot in there again.

But yet again, you lied to yourself. Again and again you said it would be the last time you saw him, that you’d leave and escape this world, but every time you drove out of town, you turned back around. You were utterly helpless, stuck. If only this was some sick love story where he would run after you. You wanted him to, but if those ashes meant anything, it meant death. Death of your love. And Yoongi would never run to you. After all...you were just another member of his illusive gang.

So here you were, breaking your own promises time and time again. You paced, unable to stop. It had been long since you felt pain looking at him, but you still felt your heart twinge to hear his voice.

“Listen, I’m telling you, Yoongi, this is a trap. He’s stalling, he’s being a distraction. Have you even heard from the other gangs in weeks?”

The slight twitch in his lips told you that he hadn’t. He carefully placed his whiskey down.

“That’s a big accusation. We are on good terms with most gangs in the area. It’s normal not to hear from them for a while.”

“No, no, you don’t understand. There’s been nothing. No crime, no new headlines.”

That got him a little more worried.

“What would their reasons be? We haven’t done anything terrible.”

“We’ve stolen land, cheated deals, killed their men. They fear us, but they’ve only just realized that with all of them combined, they can outnumber us.” You stopped pacing, almost panting from the adrenaline flowing through your veins. You felt like you were on some strange kind of high.

Yoongi was staring at you. Slowly, slowly, he stood. He went around his desk and leaned on the other side.

“I see what you mean. I’ll send Mark and Jungkook out to check on the other gangs tomorrow. We’ll prepare for an invasion, heighten security. If they get suspicious, we’ll just say it’s better to be on the safe side.” Yoongi said. Then he looked at you expectantly, as if he thought you would argue.

This would be a time to have the upper hand on Taehyung and his supposed plan. You couldn’t show all your cards of let him know you knew.

“We can’t be 100% sure.” You said quickly, trying to manage expectations.

“Funny, coming from someone who was so certain a few moments ago.”

There it was again. That tension hung in the air. Funny. That’s how you had started it ages ago. It felt exactly like it was a few months ago.

“You should get more sunlight, Yoongi, you look too pale.” You said offhandedly, trying to ease the tension.

“I could say the same to you. You prefer the prisoners underground to the members above ground.” He fired back.

“At least they can’t argue with me.” Your lips pricked up into a small smile.

Yoongi studied you, licking his lips. Then he smiled as well. The playful banter reminded you of when you were together. The memories were painted blue now; a symbol of what once was. He seemed to be thinking the same.

“Dismissed.” He said quietly. You simple nodded and left, softly shutting the door behind you.

Your steps are light. You could be an assassin with how well you had learned your way around this house. You knew every creaky floorboard and every squeaky door handle. For once, you didn’t feel like going back down to the artificial lighting of the basement rooms. Perhaps I’ll follow what Yoongi said. You then frowned thinking of the smug grin he would have on his face if you ever said that out loud.

He was right in some aspect. You hadn’t spent much time outside in the past few weeks. You mostly split your time between your room, the basement, and the surveillance room.

You spotted a tall man at the end of the hallway. He was on the phone and you didn’t really want to run into him anyway. Kim Namjoon was an excellent snake for the Bangtan Mafia. You just didn’t want to interact with the snake. He really was a good charmer and he knew how to say the right things at the right time. In fact, you would have enlisted his help with Taehyung if he hadn’t been so busy. Sadly, this snake was also standing right near your door, as if he had been waiting for you.

You wanted to slip by him unnoticed, but you should have known it would take a little more than that to slip past the silver tongue of Bangtan.

“Ah, I’ve got to go.” You heard him speaking. “My deepest apologies.” he spoke before hanging up. You never trusted that man.

“Hello, Kim.” You simply nodded, trying to get past quickly.

“Oh, no need for the formalities. We’re all a family here.” The corners of his lips tilted upwards in an almost smile, not quite enough to show the dimples in his cheeks. He used to be a friend, never close, but you had burned that bridge a while ago as well.

“Right...Namjoon.” You corrected yourself. You managed to get by when his hand shot out and grasped your arm.

“Why are you in such a hurry?” He quirked his head to the side. You had to stop yourself from glancing at the door across from your room. Inside was Taehyung. You wonder if he could hear you.

“I just have business to attend to.” You said vaguely.

“A little birdy told me we have a guest.”

You paused, hands suddenly sweating. You kept a straight face, not daring to move.

“Does that birdy have pale skin and wear suits when it’s entirely unnecessary?” You raised an eyebrow. Namjoon laughed, obviously over exaggerated. To an ordinary person, it would feel genuine.

“Perhaps.” He wouldn’t let his cards show.

“I really have to-”

“I heard he’s been..difficult. I could speak to him if you’d like help.”

“That’s really not necessary. I have it handled.” You ripped your arm away from his grasp.

“He’s in there, right?” He tilted his head towards the door across from yours.

“How did you know?” You narrowed your eyes.

“Just a hunch.” The prick then slid to the side and let you pass. “A pleasure to speak to you again, Y/N.”

When he was gone, you huffed and opened your room door. Annoying prick.

It occurred to me that I never shared the Loki playlist that I made for my Month for Loki back then when I was writing it. It’s the Month for Loki again, and it has stayed technically unchanged since it’s inception two years ago... so I might as well!

This is a part of a series of playlists that are based on the myths, so this is the myth-Loki and not based on my personal experiences or whatever (that playlist is elsewhere lol). Except for the last song. There is always a +1 at the end that is personal.

Overall I just wanted this to be a fun, contrarian and playfully rebellious playlist with a hint of edginess... because that’s exactly what I think Loki is like in the myths: a fun, playfully rebellious contrarian, with a little bit of an edgy addition when the plot wouldn’t be able to move on otherwise.

I feel like this reveals more about my age and taste in music than I expected but I’m not ashamed of it in the slightest
