i do think it's worth talking about how the hugo awards fucked up in this specific instance, but not in isolation from how generally corrupt and regressive they've been for quite some time now. this blog post from Simon McNeil addresses the current scandal in context with some of the broader issues that have been plaguing the hugos for a long time (excerpt below):

A lot of people have been saying that now the Hugo awards have lost their credibility. But the Hugo awards lost credibility when their red carpet was sponsored by a bomb maker. They lost credibility when a bitter conservative author brigaded the nominations using a slate because he thought it was his turn for the participation trophy. They lost credibility when they said Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was the best SFF novel of 2001 rather than A Storm of Swords or Midnight Robber. They lost credibility when they included the second volume of L Ron Hubbard’s manifesto in the form of a 10-volume posthumous SF series on the short-list. As of the time of writing the Hugo Award for best novel has been awarded to only two non-white authors: N. K. Jemisin and Liu Cixin (as translated by Ken Liu) in a brief run from 2015-2018 – this is not the actions of a credible award. The Hugo awards have never been credible.

This is my first ATBF installment of 2025, and also my first new show in a while. Hospital drama with a pretty diverse cast of women. In addition to the Black women here, there's some South Asian ladies, a hijabi woman, one I believe is Filipino + white, and Fiona Dourif is also there. I know she's not a woc, but I think she's pretty freakin' awesome and I enjoy seeing her outside of Chucky. There's a blond girl on here who was reciting lyrics of Megan Thee Stallion, I think as her mantra. It tickled me idk. As for the male characters, I mostly see white men. But, I am 3 episodes in as of right now and I have had my lil' ol' heartstrings tugged on a couple times.

Also Tracy Ifeachor in a main role is something long overdue. BEAUTIFUL. I'ma be attached to them. I'll also be available for any discussions anybody wanna have about this show.

Hi consider this your one (1) excuse to talk about your Greek mythology time travel book series 👀 I would like to see the baby know more

So it's hard to sum up because it is planned to be a 15 book series (book 1 is in finalization stage now, more are draft stage). I got the idea for this when I was 14 reading Battle of the Labyrinth and Percy (also 14) saw Theseus and went oh my god he's like my age. And I found that horrific so I had to write about it.

The series is about a group of high schoolers starting a club called MythoClub at their school, and ending up getting sent back in time to relive the Greek myths. They later learn they actually ARE the ancient heroes, deaged and sent forward in time to aid the gods in stopping a major threat. There's a lot of Greek mythology, teen drama, romance, friendships, and magic in the series.

Major Cast-

Club members:

Teagan "Teague" Davis- the president of the MythoClub as well as captain of the swim team despite being a freshman. He's a major nerd and natural leader, though he would only agree with the first statement. He also struggles with bipolar disorder. His hero is Theseus, and his love interest is Aria. He's the son of Poseidon and develops powers later in the series.

Pryce Dae- Teague's best friend since they were kids and the one who came up with the name "MythoClub". He's a major flirt for the first few books and incredibly lacking in impulse control, but the most loyal person to ever walk the planet. His hero is Perseus, and he has two different love interests in the series: Andromeda and Attie. He is the son of Zeus and develops powers later in the series.

Aria King- Another of Teague's childhood friends and the antithesis to Pryce: logical and even tempered. She has a lot of darkness she keeps hidden, especially in regards to her father and her abilities. Her hero is Ariadne and her love interest is Teague. She is clairvoyant.

Isaac Little- a junior at the start of the series and the first person outside of Teague's circle to join the club. He's one of the very few people attending the school on scholarship and is a major overachiever due to his impressive amount of insecurities. His hero is Jason and he has no powers, though he is the best at close combat fighting. He ends up leaving the club later in the series.

Attison Stone- the fifth person to join the club and star of the school track team. She is brash and has no regard for rules or standards. She's the only person in the club who doesnt have any myths of her own, due to being a type 1 diabetic and dying in her original timeline as a baby. She is the daughter of Ares and has super strength.

Owen Arendok- Teague's only friend on the swim team his freshman year, Owen doesnt join the club until Book 6. He is pragmatic and easy going, as well as a scholarship student like Isaac, though he's not embarrassed by it. His hero is Odysseus and his love interest is Kestrel.

Hannah Kozak- the best friend of Arias little sister Fallon and cousin of Owen's girlfriend Kestrel who joins the club in book 7. She's hyperactive and always looking for her next adventure and ways to escape her quadruplet siblings' watchful eyes. Her hero is Helen and her love interest is Kai (though that's a whole other thing)

Major Bad Guys:

Myran King- Aria's abusive father, the ruthless owner of King Industries, and the leader of the villainous faction. He is King Minos.

Tanner McNeil- another member of the swim team who hates Teagan and goes out of his way to make his life miserable. Tantalous.

Simon Callahan- one of Tanner's lackeys at school well known for being lazy and cheating his way through everything. Sisyphus

Maddie Sweet- a stereotypical mean girl who follows Tanner's around and seems obsessed with Isaac. Medea.

There are a ton of side characters as well as the Olympian gods. Every 5 books takes place over the course of a year, and the tone changes with each of them. For anything more specific, in depth, or any other questions, feel free to ask! I will say that not all the myths go exactly as they've been told to us in modern day.

Are there, by chance, voice files of the female deputy actually speaking, or a name of the voice actor who recorded the sound effects?

The female Deputy never speaks, but it sounds to me like she has the same voice actor as one of the cultists. You can find a transcript of most of her lines in this document if you search for “CULT_FOLLOWER_FEMALE_05”. One of the Angels might be played by the same person too.

I know Randy Yuen did motion capture for the Deputy in general, and maybe the male Deputy has his voice, but there is no information about who played “CULT_FOLLOWER_FEMALE_05” and the female Deputy…

Duncan Grant

Duncan James Corrowr Grant (21 de janeiro de 1885 – 8 de maio de 1978) foi um pintor e designer escocês de tecidos, cerâmica, cenários de teatro e figurinos. Ele era membro do Bloomsbury Group .

Seu pai era Bartle Grant, um major “pobre” do exército, e grande parte de sua infância foi passada na Índia e na Birmânia . Ele era neto de Sir John Peter Grant , 12º Laird de Rothiemurchus, KCB, GCMG, e às vezes Tenente-Governador de Bengala.

Vida pregressa

Infância

Grant nasceu em 21 de janeiro de 1885, filho do Major Bartle Grant e Ethel Isabel McNeil em Rothiemurchus , Aviemore , Escócia. Entre 1887 e 1894, a família viveu na Índia e na Birmânia, retornando à Escócia a cada dois anos. Duncan Grant em Londres
