HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Rowan Atkinson, Paul Brindley (The Sundays), Max Bruch, Capucine, Sandy Denny, Kahlil Gibran, Mickey Hargitay, Michael Houser (Widespread Panic), Van McCoy, Tom Mix, Nek, Sandra Oh, Laudir de Oliveira, the 1963 New York theatrical opening of the musical OLIVER! w/Davy Jones, singer Chris Pilcher (good to sing with you), Giuseppe Sammartini, Carl Sandburg, Franz Xaver Scharwenka, Alexander Scriabin, Earl Scruggs, bassist Andy Seal (good to play with you), John Singleton, Kathy Sledge, John Smith, Charles Sumner, Ebo Taylor, Nino Tempo, Danny Thomas, Doris Troy, Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys), Kim Wilson, Paul Wilson (The Flamingos), Loretta Young, Malcolm Young, Yukana, and Syd Barrett, the famously troubled musician, guitar pioneer, singer-songwriter, and co-founder of Pink Floyd. Syd was a poster boy for 60s psychedelia—an influential and fascinating madcap who wrote most of PF’s early touchstones (“See Emily Play”). However, his real story is a shout-out for widespread mental illness in the music world. Meanwhile, in his short and stormy career, he set the tone for experimental and edgy pop music, inspiring David Bowie, Flaming Lips, Robyn Hitchcock, Paul McCartney, XTC, and many more. Here’s my take of “Remember a Day” from Floyd’s SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS album and one of the last songs Syd did with the band. Shine on you crazy diamond…

The Black Keys
Betty Who
The Wombats
St. Vincent
Father John Misty
Janelle Monae

Extended credits for Museum at Tomorrow episode 5
Below the cut are all of the folks who I used (and asked to be credited) for recordings in Museum at Tomorrow episode 5- specifically, the "This is not for You" recordings.
(The list was too long for podcast episode descriptions)
These recordings were mixed into the soundscape of the show, heavily processed- so you may or may not be able to pick out your voice. Each unique recording is preserved as rhythem, timber, and shape within the episode.
Thank you for your work in creating the canvas of this piece.

The power of Worship song
Recent research has highlighted the positive impact of worship songs on longevity and mental health. Worship songs provide believers with an avenue to express their love, gratitude, awe, and even lament before God. Incorporating devotional music into one's daily routine can be a simple yet effective way to enhance mental health, promoting a sense of calm, inner peace, and reducing feelings of stress and anxiety.
In the past two years, I've been reminded of the importance of worship songs, though I initially neglected this realization. Ironically, I used to sing in church during my teenage years—not because I was a great singer, but because I genuinely enjoyed the moments of praise and worship.
Having faced challenges in my Christian faith for almost 20 years, I have come to the conclusion that I need to reconnect with God and return to the basics. Reading the Bible, meditating on the Word, maintaining a relationship with God through prayer, and singing praise and worship songs are essential to daily Christian life. I didn't fully understand their significance back then, but now, thanks to my faithful friends and God's guidance, the importance of these practices has been revealed to me. Despite my stubbornness and weaknesses, God's grace renews every morning, guiding me on the right path.
A song of the week, sung beautifully by a dear new friend and brother in Christ, was particularly impactful. These two songs were sung during an exorcism involving my family members, and I witnessed firsthand how powerful worship songs can be in driving away evil. Even repeatedly singing "Hallelujah" scared the enemy away. Although I tend to require evidence to believe something, this experience has convinced me of the power of God's presence when we worship. All we need is an open heart to receive His blessings, guidance, providence, and everything we need.
On the second day of the exorcism, the next song sung was:
"Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace." - Michael W. Smith
As my friend sang, the devil trembled and was visibly unhappy. Trust me, you do not want to undergo multiple exorcisms, as it is extremely dangerous. Consider the following Bible verse:
Matthew 12:43-45 (ESV):
"When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none. Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order. Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation."
Let us be reminded to praise and worship God in our daily lives, especially during our best times when we tend to forget because we feel secure. Even in our worst times, we should worship God, not out of desperation for Him to fix our problems, but to maintain our faith and allow God to mature us and enlarge our capacity, just as He did with Jabez's prayer.
I hope this experience serves as a helpful reminder to myself and others of God's power to those who believe in Him. May you be blessed and be a blessing to those in need.

"The Franklin Police Department sends its condolences to Hundley's family, friends, and fans." As CBN News reported, K-LOVE broke the news early Friday morning that Mandisa had passed away.  Mandisa became a household name after she made it to the top nine on the fifth season of "American Idol."  The Grammy-winning artist is known for her uplifting hits like "Good Morning" and "Overcomer." Throughout her career, she collaborated with top Christian performers like TobyMac, Matthew West, Michael W. Smith, Kirk Franklin, and Jordan Feliz. Tributes continue to pour in after her untimely death. TobyMac shared over the weekend that the world "lost a beautiful soul." "I have never met an artist who is more encouraging and supportive to other artists than Mandisa. She was honest and authentic but I always left her side feeling better. She watched every act, every night on every tour singing along with a smile that made you feel alive," he wrote.  "Mandisa's smile was like turning on sunshine. She lit up every room she walked into and every stage she graced. We are all going to miss her light and that beautiful smile," singer Amy Grant shared on Instagram Sunday. "Mandisa was a friend to everybody. I was blessed enough to share the stage with her numerous times and watched her bring people together. She lit up every room and everyone around her. Her music & story touched many with the love of Jesus. Join me in praying for her family today," wrote Gospel singer Jason Crabb.    Mandisa was a friend to everybody. The Life & Musical Legacy of Mandisa
K-LOVE Honors the Life & Musical Legacy of Mandisa
Friday, April 19, 2024 by Lindsay Williams
GRAMMY®-winning Christian music artist Mandisa, 47, passed away at her home in Nashville, Tennessee, on Thursday, Apr. 18, 2024. The cause of death is not yet known.
Born and raised in California, Mandisa first came to national attention when she stood her ground with kindness when critiqued by “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell on Season 5 of the popular TV vocal competition. After finishing in the Top 10 on “Idol,” Mandisa released her debut album, “True Beauty,” in 2007.
The celebrated vocalist began her career as a member of the revered Fisk Jubilee Singers while in college at Nashville’s Fisk University. After “Idol” introduced her to the masses, her charismatic personality and show-stopping voice quickly captured the hearts of listeners and her fellow artists, many of whom she collaborated with through the years. Among her most notable collaborations were songs with TobyMac, Matthew West, Michael W. Smith, Kirk Franklin, Jordan Feliz and Jon Reddick.
The two-time K-LOVE Fan Award winner released five full-length projects and one Christmas LP over the course of her nearly two-decade tenure. 2013’s career-defining album, “Overcomer,” earned the powerhouse vocalist numerous accolades, as well as an array of critical praise and high-profile media coverage, including multiple appearances on “Good Morning America.” In addition to songs of resilience like “Overcomer,” Mandisa became a staple at Christian radio with energetic, faith-affirming singles like “Stronger,” “Good Morning (feat. TobyMac)” and “My Deliverer.”
Even more than her music, the Platinum-selling singer will forever be known for her huge heart and sincerity. Her longtime friend, frequent collaborator and former tourmate TobyMac described her best when he penned an endorsement for her last book. “Since the first day I met Mandisa, she has been nothing but original and courageous,” Toby shared. “My touring family is better when she is out with us. She genuinely supports each artist that takes the stage, as well as every crew member behind the stage. In a single word, I would say without hesitation that she is one of the most authentic people I have ever met. Her heart is to help others.”
Mandisa’s final collection of all-new musical material, "Out of the Dark," bowed in 2017. She’s since released a “greatest hits” compilation, a remix EP and a string of one-off worship singles. Mandisa revealed her battle with depression in her intimate memoir, “Out of the Dark: My Journey Through the Shadows to Find God’s Joy.” She further discussed her struggles on her “Out of the Dark” podcast with co-host Laura Williams on AccessMore. Even from her earliest days on “Idol,” Mandisa was respected for her transparency both on and off the stage.
“Mandisa loved Jesus, and she used her unusually extensive platform to talk about Him at every turn. Her kindness was epic, her smile electric, her voice massive, but it was no match for the size of her heart,” says David Pierce, K-LOVE Chief Media Officer. “Mandisa struggled, and she was vulnerable enough to share that with us, which helped us talk about our own struggles. Mandisa’s struggles are over. She is with the God she sang about now. While we are saddened, Mandisa is home. We’re praying for Mandisa’s family and friends and ask you to join us.”

Worship artists .....
