Wdym it's been 5 months ? Anyway, here is the end of my little comic serie about this niche Skyrim mod
Tumblr media
*Insert me 100%ing the 4th arc of the hit mod 'vigilant' for the elder scrolls V Skyrim with little difficulty having a grand ol' time*
Tumblr media
I messed up my files so Teldryn divorced me while I was away ckgkckkc And you know what good for him, he got a cottage and a kid out of it
[PART 1] - [PART 2] - [PART 3]
[COMMISSIONS]
If you're interested in my thoughts about this mod, you can read that below (it's fucking long so I'm sparing you all just here for the art to have to scroll through all that) vvv
A fantastic mod for sure ! I had so much fun, the voice acting was (for the most part) quite impressive, the music !!!!!!!!! Excuse me who gave this mod permission to have this fucking banger of an ost ???? Loved the new environnements, and there was so much of them !! Especially in act 4, I felt that all the locations had a unique and gorgeous aesthetic (frankly it was the most fun I had doing dungeons in skyrim... the bar is on the floor tho- if I ever see another nordic tomb or draugr I'll not be responsible for my actions), and fucking impressive mise en scene.
And the fights were so fun ??? In skyrim ?? Incredible.
But I still have some problems with it- first let's get the elephant out of the room : act 1 and 2... Boy oh boy were they not so great- I get that the begining is a slow burn to 1) get to know the vigilants of stendar, and 2) drive home the fact that the vigilants are quite incompetent and stendar hates them. Ok this is cool ! And they definetly were some highlights, like with the story of the three kajiits (I'm not good with remembering names (forshadowing for later-)), the ending of act 1, and uuuuuuuhhhh underground windhelm looked sick in act 2 !
But the quests in general were not very fun, at least not fun enough to distract me from the parts of the scenario I understood- which were kind of sexist and not that interesting (the sexism doesn't get better with act 3 and 4 but at least I'm having fun)- like I don't expect great women characters, this is still a tes mod, and it definitly doesn't get to "the man writting this is a fucking creep and I'm not playing this any longer" territory... But all the women we interact with are either : prostitutes, mothers/wives, or abuse(it's nearly always rape) victims- like I don't really mind that the first quest is to track down a vampire prostitute who propose to show me her sweetrolls, but it gets pretty tiresome after a while (and kinda ridiculous, like do all the big musley men I'm fighting in act 4 have to angst about their wives ? Can't a big musley woman angst about her partner too...). The worst one is Lamae Bal. From the charadesign, to the dialogues with her, to her story- hated that.
And also we don't have much dialogue choices and ways to influence the story in these 2 (3) first acts. Which I understand like this is a lot of work for fan content, but it's such a stark contrast to act 4 it's a bit jaring.
But speaking of the story... I get this is a very thoughtful and well researched story. A lot of work reading the tes wiki as been done by the author... But I, on the other hand, did not read the entire extended lore wiki- and I admit I was not understanding any of it during Act 4. Like I got a general idea, and the epic, dramatic and emotional moments were still impactful ! But I really don't think the author did a great job getting the story accross, and the more the mod progress, the more this problem becomes relevant. The recuring problem of tes games is that they have really deep interesting lore that we rarely get to see in the games ; the problem of this mod is that we get presented with this lore as if we already knew it.
And after watching an explaination of the story, it's such a shame because it's really good !! And well written ! But I don't think I should need a youtube video to understand it...
Also omfg I am not good with names mod please- everything has like 2-3 different weird fantasy names (but it's never explained it's the same thing, and what the thing is is never explained-), there is a billion men characters with weird ass long names, and the mod expects me to remember them all 5-6 hours after they got killed ??? I don't remember them 5 seconds after I'm done talking to them-
But I had fun playing it, and that's what matters <3 and I'll never get other twink molag bal <3
Also, my mage dragonborn is even more op now omg I can summon an army of 8ft musle men + molag bal + Jyggalag ??? The only fight I had a bit of trouble with was Pelinal's, the rest got obliterated easily (by Pelinal) kgkgkfjfifb
I'll probably need to nerf Elaris at some point in the future-

Greetings it is I the Anon who fixed their modded Skyrim.
I've been playing this game for a relatively long time and only yesterday I learned of the Skyrim Romance mod.
H-how big of a dumpster fire is this mod?? I only heard not so positive things..
(Also I love Lucien Flavius. He's such a good follower, however he is kinda slow.)
Hey! I hope your Skyrim is still running smoothly after you fixed it!
Who told you about the SRM? Was it me? I'm sorry, Nonnie. It's a hard thing to learn about.
If you check this ask, you'll see my basic rundown of the mod.
SRM is a big dumpster fire. There is an entire community built around it involving more creators than just Mara the original mod author. It has become infamous in Skyrim modding circles, roasted and showcased in turn by several YouTubers. (Check out these videos here and here.) Objectively, the story is essentially the downfall of the Dragonborn as she goes from being an independent hero on a quest to save the world to Bishop's wife in a cottage in the woods. (This is if you "complete" the mod; while your PC can continue to adventure and do quests after marrying Bishop, as your PC would after marrying any vanilla spouse, the tone is a bit weirder, especially after they have a kid.)
I wish I knew more about Lucien Flavius! He seems so adorkable! Maybe I'll look at him more when I'm done with my fanfic.

Wildflower Cottage Mod: Dibellan Altar in Bedroom beneath Shrine of Akatosh
Just under the dresser in the bedroom, below the shrine of Akatosh, the screen says “Dibellan Altar”. When activated, my character kneels down, pulls something out, then stands and bends down as if she is scooping up a handful of water from a basin. She does this automatically!
There is a candle lit rock basin in the enchanting room next to the bedroom, which looks like the right “altar”. Was it originally in the bedroom, or should the “Dibellan Altar” prompt on the floor be under the basin instead of the dresser in the bedroom?
Any other hidden surprises? I am a 62 year old lady who loves Skyrim and the little cottage is perfect.

More Skyrim characters
Haven’t played Skyrim in a while, partly because the game got unstable due to the bunch of mods I used. So, cleaned up the load order and deleted all the savegames and started over. First out, Nightshade (no, Nightshade is not her real name). Altmer assassin on the run from the Thalmor. Usually wields two-handed swords or crossbows. Did not expect hiding out in Skyrim to get so complicated so soon after her arrival. Luckily, she found some allies to help her out.
Tumblr media
Next up, Merode Kath. A son of the Kath family of vampires who made an alliance with the more powerful Volkihar clan in the second era. Both as a favor and as a hostage, Merode was chosen to be the bodyguard to Serana Volhikar when she was sent to retrieve and Elder Scroll. While searching for the Elder Scroll, Merode was hit by a powerful paralysis spell by an altmer mage. The next thing he knows he wakes up in some sort of tomb with his teeth buried in a very dead adventurer’s neck. Now he’s trying to figure out where he is, *when* he is and what to do with himself.
Tumblr media
Katari of House Redoran was cosen to be a Flamekeeper, a guardian of one of their ancestor tombs, as a young girl and trained in both weapons, a bit of magic and the proper ceremonies for the ancestors. One day, guarding her assigned tomb with her mentor the tomb was raided by necromancers. Katari was knocked out in the fight and when she came to her mentor was badly injured and the remains of three ancestors had been stolen, most notably those of Salidri Redoran, a hero of the Oblivion Crisis which devastated their House. Her mentor tasked her with tracking down the necromancers and get their ancestor’s urns back.
Tumblr media
From my love of weird crossovers; Vali Tannen. Jedi knight who was working with a team of clone troopers to catch smuggler when Order 66 came. After a scuffle she escaped on a ship with the clone troopers in hot pursuit. In desperation she made a blind hyperjump, crossed into aetherius and crashlanded on Nirn.
Tumblr media
Jemima is a cathay khajiit who likes the water and was learning to be a pirate under Landon, a redguard captain. Unfortunately, as they sailed along the northern coast of Skyrim they got attacked by an East Empire warship and during the battle both ships were caught in a blizzard.
When Jemima woke up she was, as far as she could determine, the sole survivor. She found the corpse of Landon and took his sword, both for good memories and for practicality. Cold and wet she made her way to the shore and is now looking to survive and ideally make a fortune once she gets a little coin as a nest egg.
Tumblr media
Hope grew up in a family of necromancers. Being born into it, it never really was a search for power or an act of rebellion against narrowminded “colleagues” to afraid to look beyond the usual “proper” schools of magic for her. Digging up graves and reanimating corpses was just normal family activities and she though everyone had skeletons that helped out with household chores until she was a teenager. However, one night the family had their large stone and wood cottage raided by Vigilants of Stendarr. Her mom and dad had worked hard to find an old Nord hero to revive, a more ambitious ritual that would raise more than a mere skeleton, and that more high-profile work had attracted the attention of the Vigilants. Hope hid in the woods for a week and when she returned the cottage was in ruins and there were no bodies left, neither of the Vigilants nor her parents. She gathered up what few supplies she could find and set off to find her parents, as well as improving her necromancy skills.
Tumblr media
There are few worlds closed to someone of divine lineage. Drawn to Nirn to help one of its Gardeners, Kamiel arrived in Skyrim at the lodge of the Vigilants of Stendarr. The undead were getting more powerful and they needed all the help they could get to make sure the living would be able to still have relatively normal lives. Kamiel did not hesitate, but swore that she would help the Vigilants in every way she could.

So what is this romance mod all about? I play Skyrim on the Switch so I can't download it anyway. But as far as I heard about it, it doesn't seem to be a good mod. Also, ballroom stuff in the middle of the wartime seems very unrealistic to me
You're right, it is very unrealistic to imagine. Seeing it is like getting whiplash, and I've only watched playthroughs of it. I play on a Switch too, so everything I know is from others' playthroughs and my own research.
The Skyrim Romance Mod adds a fully voiced male follower by the name of Bishop to serve as a "dynamic" love interest for any female Dragonborn. The romance is advertised as being believable and realistic compared to the quick and easy Amulet of Mara marriages of vanilla Skyrim. In addition to Bishop, encounters with potential "rival" love interests are added throughout Skyrim, as well as hecklers in several taverns, a prostitute and new barkeep in The Bannered Mare (does not affect Hulda and co.), an endgame cottage, and a cute wolf named Karnwyr.
(Karnwyr is the only pure thing in this mod, by the way.)
"Potential" love interests include Casavir the Paladin (Solitude), Darren the Mage (Winterhold), Alec the Prince of Song (WIndhelm) — these three have quests. Raven the Thief (Rifte), Captain Jack (Solitude Docks; no, not Jack Sparrow OR Harkness, unfortunately), and Cael the Forsworn (near Markarth) have encounters, but no real quests to accompany them. There's also a bandit named Thorn who wants to noncon the Dragonborn, but the player gets to kill him.
A major problem in the SRM is that its portrayal of a "realistic" romance in Bishop is way more toxic than any true romance. He constantly demeans the Dragonborn's intelligence, sexualizes her, makes suggestive and jealous comments in front of other characters, is ALWAYS wanting sex, and has nothing nice to say about her quest to fulfill her destiny or about her allies. He hates Lydia, he hates the Greybeards, and he hates Skyrim itself. His only redeeming quality is his wolf, Karnwyr, and once you get Karnwyr (you have to rescue him from pit fighters somewhere in the Rift), the wolf automatically follows you so you don't even need Bishop longer than it takes to get Karnwyr. (Just saying . . .)
Outside of the mod but connected to it: There's been a lot of controversy connected to the original mod creator, Mara. I'd rather not get into what she's done, myself, but you can find out all about it by googling 'Skyrim romance mod incident'.

The Pinewood Cottage stands right next to a bandit camp from the Moon and Star mod. That’s close.
No key, no price.
The potion bottles are a decoration, suggesting that you should store specific kinds of potions on specific shelves. The open books give you a small bonus to alchemy etc.
The smith corner feels not spacious enough.
Lots of mannequins. o.o
The bath gives you a bonus to Speech.
I don’t know yet what the Strange Chest does.

Skyrim OC: Antonella (Nell)
Tumblr media
Introducing my modded Skyrim SE Dragonborn! This is my first time introducing an OC on Tumblr so hopefully I’m doing this right. (please be gentle (✿´‿`)) She’s my main during my gameplay and is also the protagonist of the Skyrim fic I’m working on. A lot of her qualities are inspired by mods along with the perks I’ve chosen for her throughout the quest lines.  I’m still fleshing out some details but feel free to provide any feedback or tips that may help me develop her more as a character! I try to put a lot of thought into her development, and I also aim to make her as balanced as possible. At the same time, I see her as more of a light-hearted protagonist that doesn’t take herself too seriously, and hope to convey that. Any tips or feedback to help me achieve that is very much appreciated!
Tumblr media
Basic Profile
Name: Antonella (Nell for short)
“Please, call me Nell. Less of a mouthful that way.”
Race: Nord
“I’m a simple girl. I love a good mead, and I enjoy a good fight.”
Age: Mid-Twenties ( ~ 24 )
“Nearing my twenty-fifth winter and so far I’ve accomplished fuck-all.”
Pre-Dovahkiin Occupation: Wanderer, Lute Player, Gambler
“I play the lute, but I’m no bard - I don’t sing and I have a weird history with bards.”
Patron Gods:
Dibella (She has a very risque part of her backstory related to the worship of this Goddess)
Mara (She does her best to follow Mara’s teachings of compassion as much as possible)
Talos (Partly due to her Nord heritage, but mostly to spite the Thalmor)
Tumblr media
Skills
Fighting Style: Spellsword
Weapon of Choice: Swords
“It’s an efficient tactic: I can cut my enemies down with my blade, or I can light them on fire. Better yet, I can do both and get the job done even quicker!”
Tactical Skills: Lockpicking & Speech (Persuasion)
Lockpicking is a specialty for Nell. So long as she has enough lockpicks, she’s very persistent with getting through locks - no matter how high the difficulty. However, she does try to be mindful about using tact - generally preferring to pick locks where there’s little to no consequence (such as getting caught and hit with a bounty). With Dibella as a patron Goddess, Nell has a knack for being a smooth talker. Though she’s a Nord and loves the thrill of good fight, she likes to pick her battles. If she has the opportunity to talk her way out of a situation, she uses it because she values convenience and/or efficiency. However, there are exceptions: if it’s bandits or the Thalmor she’s dealing with, she’ll ready her sword instantly.
“Everyone calls it ‘lock-picking’ but I’ve always considered it ‘key-fiddling’ since I was a young girl. Makes it sound much more fun, doesn’t it?”
Tumblr media
Magicka Skills:
Destruction Magic (Flames)
Basic Restoration Magic (Healing & Healing Hands)
Occasionally uses Candlelight if needed
Antonella is not a mage. She uses only the bare minimum needed to fight well as a spellsword and to get by. When it comes to spells, she primarily uses Destruction Magic with a preference for Flames. She does some Restoration Magic to heal herself or others if injured, but she prefers to keep health potions on hand so she can use her magicka to defeat her opponents. And she uses Candlelight on occasion because she finds it more convenient than carrying around a torch.
“The Thalmor love using their Sparks to disable their opponents - I suppose they find amusement in the torture of rendering others useless. I find setting those bastards on fire and watching them flail around to be much more amusing. But to each their own.”
Tumblr media
Crafting Skills: Alchemy & Smithing, a little Enchanting
Armor: Light Armor
Alchemy and smithing are skills she started learning at a young age during her upbringing. She lived a fairly simple life being raised by her grandfather in a quaint cottage isolated in The Rift. Living far from other settlements and cities, she was raised to learn useful skills for self-sufficiency: growing their own food, foraging herbs, making their own potions, crafting their own armor and clothes, and fending off beasts from the forest. She carried these skills with her into adulthood.
“I know heavy armor is more protective against blades and arrows, but there’s a much simpler solution that doesn’t require lugging about in a suit of metal: it’s called dodging.”
Tumblr media
Physical Traits
Darker skin complexion than most Nords
Brunette Hair (braided at sides and tied at the back, PrivatePark in KS Hairdos)
Pale/Cold Blue Eyes (like a very light periwinkle, borderline gray)
Very Lean Muscle Build
Lacking as many visible scars as she should have (there’s a reason for this in her background)
Pictured Below: Nell’s face every time Inigo and Lucien do their “splattering squishy squashy spiders” bit...
Tumblr media
Personality Traits
ENFP-A (The Campaigner)
Antonella enjoys good company and doesn’t mind traveling with an entourage. Her companions she recruits are Kaidan, Lucien, Inigo, Sofia, and Vilja. She values the people she cares about and is fiercely loyal. Anyone or anything who threatens her loved ones will undoubtedly face her wrath. She can also be selfless to a fault, where she finds herself undergoing tedious side quests to help others.
While she is initially unsure about how to go about handling a huge responsibility as the Dragonborn, she learns to adapt and grow her leadership skills.
As a Nord, she never turns down a challenge. But this can also be taken a bit too far.
One of her most notable traits socially is being a good listener. She genuinely enjoys taking the time to hear others out, whether they’re close friends or strangers in a tavern. This also helps her exercise compassion. More often than not, she’s willing to hear all sides of a given situation and is also willing to give others the benefit of the doubt.
She’s sincere when she communicates with others. While she may be persuasive, she’s no liar.
“I honestly have no idea what I’m doing. Before all this, I was just frolicking about playing the lute, drinking mead, and barely scraping by. Before that, I spent two years in a cult where I basically served as a glorified wench in a brothel disguised as a temple for Dibella. And before that, I was just trying to survive - having my arse handed to me on a silver platter more times than I can recall. I’m not in the least bit qualified to be Dragonborn, or save the world. But we’ll all be damned if I don’t try.”
Tumblr media
Quirks & Interesting Tidbits
She’s a bit of a jackass. She’s bold to the point of recklessness. She’ll scale or slide down dangerous terrain if she thinks it can be be used as a shortcut as opposed to sticking to the roads. She’ll also pull dangerous stunts during combat or take unnecessary risks in the heat of the moment. Her love for the thrill of a good fight goes pretty far occasionally - much to the dismay of her companions.
She can be greedy when it comes to treasure, relics, etc. Gets teased by Lucien and Inigo for “being a hoarder”. Her willingness to help build a collection for the Dragonborn Gallery & Museum further enables this habit of scavenging and/or looting.
She can handle most enemies...but she’s easily grossed out by monster spiders to the point where she gets queasy. Whenever she encounters regular-sized frostbite spiders, she feels nauseated. If she walks through their webs, she’s trying not to gag. If she encounters a giant spider, she’ll proceed to first defeat it before vomiting profusely. If she has companions with her and they encounter a giant spider, her friends take care of it while she retches in a corner.
She can be selfless to a fault. More often than not, her goals are shaped by the wishes and desires of those around her more so than her own. She takes the people she cares about more into consideration but rarely does the same for herself. It gets to a point where she struggles to just relax because not being given something to do or a task to fulfill makes her feel restless.
She's got a knack for maintaining a calm composure but sometimes it comes off as phlegmatic or nonchalant. There are some situations or factors that test her composure and/or break it. For example, she has little patience for tediousness or being sent on wild goose chases. A minor quirk she has is she can get easily enraged anytime she’s super close to unlocking something and the lockpick breaks at the last second.
Pictured Below: Antonella being a jackass by “surfing” on a dragon’s head so she can stab it with her sword. Pretty typical behavior she has during combat.
Tumblr media
Some Background
She’s a Nord but never knew her biological parents. Her father died in the Great War and her mother died shortly after giving birth to her. She was raised by her grandfather, Garaldr, and they lived in a remote cottage in The Rift. Her childhood was pretty ordinary but she was a bit lonely. She was close to her grandfather.
When she was seventeen, her grandfather was slain by bandits that attacked their cottage during the night while she was away trading at one of the holds, a trip that would usually take two to three days. She arrived back to find their home ransacked and Garaldr’s body. This would fuel her hatred for bandits and why she’s not hesitant to kill any she encounters.
Three years after her grandfather’s murder, Antonella wound up joining a cult dedicated to the worship of Dibella, the Divine Goddess of Beauty, Love, Art, and Music. This particular cult - The Lilies of Dibella - was devoted to beauty, women, and erotic instruction. They also had “sculptors” dedicated to modifying members’ appearances so that they met ideal aesthetics of beauty. Many of the practices had sinister undertones and members would soon find out the cult was merely a front for an underground brothel that served wealthy and noble clients under the guise of Divine worship. She spent two years there before she eventually escaped. While she joined out of her own accord and consented to the practices, she would come out of it with a warped view on love and sex -  which would later be changed with the help of a certain love interest.
“To own the truth, I envy your scars. There’s a beauty to them that many fail to understand. Each scar is unique, holding a memory that serves as proof of your resilience and ability to overcome adversity. That in and of itself is truly beautiful. I used to have much more scars on my body from the struggles I endured over the course of my life. The sculptors removed them when I was a Lily. They believed my scars were ugly and unfit for a devotee to Dibella. It was a painful process, like my flesh was being carved by scalpels all over my body. When it was over, my skin looked anew. But I never felt more empty; it was like everything I had achieved, that shaped me as a person, was cast away into nothing.”
Tumblr media
Political Viewpoint
Though she’s a Nord, she doesn’t share the prejudices many of her race have towards others. However, she does hate the Thalmor not only because her father was killed fighting them, but also because she loathes their superiority complex and oppressive nature - like trying to abolish Talos worship. Even so, she does not agree with the Civil War in Skyrim and does not approve of either side; she views the Thalmor are the real enemies of Skyrim, not the Imperials. Though she doesn’t approve of the Imperials and their oppressive tactics either (such as when they tried to kill her at Helgen even though she committed no crime that would warrant execution).
