Category IV Kaijus Scunner and Raiju emerge from the Breach as Jaegers 'Gipsy Danger' and 'Striker Eureka' are deployed to the Pacific Ocean to destroy it as part of Operation Pitfall - a high-risk mission with the intention of destroying the Breach via thermonuclear warhead

The first Cat. V Kaiju, Slattern, also emerges from the Breach

Cat. IV Otachi's (Jan. 8th) - unnamed and uncategorized - infant Kaiju escapes from the womb and self-strangles on the umbilical cord shortly after in Hong Kong

Newton Geiszler and Hermann Gottlieb Drift using the infant Kaiju's (secondary) brain; discover Operation Pitfall cannot succeed without Kaiju DNA that serves as the necessary key to enter/exit through the Breach

Gipsy Danger's pilots Raleigh Becket and Mako Mori kill Raiju; Striker Eureka's pilots Chuck Hansen and Stacker Pentecost deliberately detonate the warhead to sacrifice themselves in hopes of killing the remaining Kaiju and giving G.D. a chance of making it through the Breach with Raiju's corpse

Kaiju Scunner and Striker Eureka are wiped out; Slattern survives the explosion, severely wounded

G.D. trades Raiju for Slattern by tackling it into the Breach; Becket uses the nuclear turbine point-blank range to kill the Cat. V

Through the Breach and now within the Anteverse, Becket uses G.D.'s nuclear reactor to prime the Jaeger for self-destruction after ejecting Mori's escape pod first; ejects himself before the resulting explosion destroys both the Breach and Kaiju facility within the Anteverse

Hopeful Pacific Rim Headcanons!!!!

Getting exposed to the anteverse made Raleigh healthier, somehow. The theory is that the breach did something to him when it scanned his genetic code, the same as Mako.

Newt and Hermann only know about it 'cause they drifted with that kaiju brain and recognised the strange part of their blood samples. They are also currently working on their memories to see if they can learn more about the kaijus and prevent another breach from happening.

Mako, Newt, Hermann and Raleigh are not entirely human anymore? They are not sure either way.

The closing of the breach, as violent and unexpected as it was, warped Earth time frame. It took LOCCENT some hours to notice that Sttiker Eureka seemed to be floating in the ocean as if nothing had happened. It didn't cure Pentecost like it happened with Raleigh, but it kept them (Stacker and Chuck) alive.

Herc doesn't believe in miracles and he doesn't give credit to the kaijus for the good in his life. For him, getting Chuck back is entirely a product of the skill of the rangers he works with. Humanity doing the impossible time and time and time again.

As an apology for defunding the jeager program and almost dooming humanity in the process, the United Nations kept the PPDC running. There's not enough money to return the jaeger program to what it was, so they all have to adapt.

The PPDC focus is on an hypothetically second invasion now.

J-techs work on creating a new mark of jaegers, smaller, safer, cheaper, but still enough to face a kaiji and win. There are some improvements they want to make as well, like a mechanism of defense that protect the jaeger limbs, maybe spikes or something like that; new escape-pods for the pilots; a kaiju dna detector/radar; and many more.

Along with the classic studies, K-science now includes a whole side dedicated on studying the social and possibly cultural aspects of the kaijus and the anteverse. Another side is dedicated to a better use of the kaiju remins and parts, lile studies on how to regenerate skin or reverse brain damage or use the same system of the kaijus to help the decontamination of the planet.

With the experience of former jaeger pilots, the program's updating the whole cadet training. New simulations based on double and even triple events with Slattern as a possible enemy, new fight techniques for underwater and on air scenarios, a basics of kaiju anatomy and strategies... The pilots also help with the majority of the research nd development of the other areas!

The UN also granted the PPDC the right of working independently of any nation and the exclusivity of jaeger creations. Super important to avoid military forces trying to create their own jaegers to use against mankind, or companies trying to use the drift technology for cold profit, with no ethics attached.

The PPDC allow teens above 16 years old to start their studies in ares like k-science and j-tech, but to join the jaeger pilots program the person must be 18 years old and only become legal rangers after their 22th birthday. Without the kaijus threatening the world, the PPDC has the luxury of going slow with the cadets, selecting only the best and even providing a lot of experience and grow before putting them in charge of a real jaeger. That's to prevent another Scott Hansen, or to prevent teens like Chuck and Raleigh from jumping into the fire before properly maturing, since there's no need of being in such a hurry.

The wall becomes a giant memorial, with artist allowed to practice their crafts on it as they pleased. It's also a reminder: humanity is not alone, the kaijus could come back. Yet, as long as the jaeger program exists, there's always hope to cancel the apocalypse, stop the clock.

otachi emerged from the breach as part of the predicted historic first kaiju DOUBLE event along with leatherback. only after those two does the kaiju predictive model pattern increase to three with raiju, scunner, and slattern as the very first triple event

Hello! I hope you like this one! I went AU for this ask and wrote up a quick Pacific Rim drabble with Pilot!Reader and Hangman! Here is Kiss #41 Because the World is Saved. All of the Jaeger names are thanks to @thedroneranger and @mayhemmanaged brainstorming and help!

A Kiss After Saving the World

It hasn't been very long at all since monsters began terrorizing the world. But they're not anything like what all of the old science fiction novels said they'd be like. For one, they didn't come to us from space. They emerged from a colossal portal at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean called the breach. The monsters, called Kaiju, attacked coastal cities while causing unprecedented damage. No conventional weapons or technologies could touch them. In the decade since the first Kaiju attacks, things have changed drastically.

Never has the world been more united. The only line of defense between the coastal cities of the world and the Kaiju were colossal piloted robots called the Jaeger. Each robot was operated by two pilots, attached via neural link, each responsible for a side of the robot. By linking the pilots, you could ensure seamless communication between them and the two could work as one to drive the Kaiju back. It worked - for a while. Then bigger and more dangerous Kaiju started to ascend from the Breach and more and more Jaegers started to fall in their wake. That's when the world began building the sea walls to protect humanity while decommissioning the Jaegers. The walls didn’t really work, but there’s nothing the Pan Pacific Defense Corps could do. There's only one Jaeger facility operating in the world now, the Hong Kong Shatterdome.

There are only four Jaegers in the colossal hangar and enough crew and operations personnel to ensure they’ll be piloted properly. There is also only one chance to shut down the breach for good. It’ll take a targeted nuclear warhead to the center of the breach. You’re the newest pilot in the Shatterdome and the only pilot compatible with Lieutenant Commander Jake Seresin, callsign Hangman, formerly of the United States Navy, currently of the Pan Pacific Defence Corps. He’s an interesting man, Commander Seresin, taciturn and cocky by turn even as he maintains that you will never be good enough to pilot this mission. 

You’ve had three Kaiju battles since you took up the vacant pilot seat on the Gypsy Starfall and Jake still believes you’re not going to be good enough. You’re starting to believe it yourself. Every time you drift with him, you see his prior drift partner, Lieutenant Commander Javy Machado, the man who was once known as Coyote. Hangman and Coyote piloted the Gypsy Starfall for over four years, fighting back dozens of Category Three and Four Kaiju successfully, but Jake refuses to let you in. Your drifts with him bridge the gap between shallow and deep by a thread every time, one stray thought away from dissolving into chaos. Through sheer force of will, Jake’s managed to keep you from plummeting into that chaos.

You’re in the final briefing before the nuclear run at the Breach when the sirens blare. 

“It’s a Category Five Kaiju, codename Slattern. All Pilots to their Jaegers. This is an all hands on deck situation.” Colonel Kazansky sounds as serious as you’ve ever heard him.

Within minutes you’re suited up and in Gypsy Starfall’s cockpit. Across the way you can see Payback and Fanboy loading up into Banshee Dagger and Phoenix and Bob sinking into Stryker Mayhem. You know that Rooster and Maverick are in Eagle Tirade to your right as well. 

“Peony, do you read me?” Jake’s voice always makes you feel like you belong in a Jaeger when you hear him in the drift.

“Hangman, loud and clear.” Even your brainwaves sound nervous.

The four Jaegers move in unison, progressing in a straight line towards the breach. There’s a wicked storm brewing over the expanse and right as the Gypsy Starfall crosses the final defenses of the Hong Kong Sea Wall, you see the colossal head of Slattern peek out of the rift. It’s the biggest Kaiju you’ve ever seen and it’s not alone. It’s being guarded by two Category Threes, Otachi and Leatherback. It’s Otachi that you and Jake had beat back most recently and the Kaiju obviously holds a grudge because it’s rushing you as soon as it sees you. Thank god for your newly updated energy blade and the cover from Eagle Tirade’s guns. It’s through sheer luck that you spear Otachi through the heart. But Otachi’s death, and Leatherback’s death soon afterward drive Slattern into a driving rage. The colossal creature rushes towards the wall and soon all you can hear are Jake’s thoughts as the two of you fight with all your breath to beat the brute back.

You can’t let him decimate the Hong Kong Shatterdome and Hong Kong City. Jake’s entire family is there. He (You) can’t afford to bury any more people he (you) love. It’s with a roar of pure desperation that you both activate the one mayday weapon onboard Gypsy Starfall other than the nuclear warhead housed in her chest, a sonic cannon. The battering soundwaves drive Slattern back inch by excruciating inch until the brute’s teetering on the edge of the rift.

“We have to push him in, Jake!” You’re screaming down the drift link between you.

“Yeah, sweetheart, I know. But how?” He sounds exhausted, far more like an old man than a 30 year old.

“We’re the only thing heavy enough, Jake! One push and he takes us and the warhead with him. I’ll eject you and take on Star’s full neural load. Once we’re through the rift, I’ll blow the warhead.” You can feel the arguments against your plan even before they fly through the drift to you.

“I don’t have anybody in Hong Kong waiting for me.” A tear drips down your cheek at the thought of leaving your friends, leaving Jake, behind.

“You have me waiting for you, sweetheart. So we’ll do this instead. We’ll both push Slattern into the rift. Then we’ll both eject, okay?” But you don’t even have the chance to respond as you see another colossal Cat 5 Kaiju begin to approach through the Breach. You and Jake gun the engines on Gypsy Starfall and shove Slattern and his friends back to the hell they came from. That’s the last thing you remember.

You wake up to the sound of waves lapping against your ejection pod. The Pacific Ocean is roiling around you as waves higher than your head bat the pod around like it’s a toy. Jake! Where is he? It’s far too long before the waves subside and you finally see his pod floating a ways away. 

“Jake?” Your voice is a hoarse scream as you grab a bit of driftwood and begin to row towards his pod. When you open the pod he’s just come to.

“Jake!” You’re crying again.

“Peony! You’re alive!” He kisses you then, soft and sweet. You can’t help how you sob in his arms when you pull away.

“We did it, sweetheart. We saved the world.” That’s where you stay until the helicopters come find you, tethered to the one man who you know better than you know yourself. Your soulmate and if you dare say it, the love of your life. Nothing can bring the two of you down. Not even a Kaiju.

Striker Eureka is decommissioned from active combat.

Category IV Kaiju, Mutavore, breaks through Anti-Kaiju Wall and is killed by Striker Eureka, thus proving the Anti-Kaiju Wall ineffective.

Stacker Pentecost recruits Raleigh Becket for breach assault.

Raleigh Becket arrives at the Hong Kong Shatterdome.

Pilot tryouts with Raleigh Becket begin proper.

Raleigh and Mako nearly destroy the Shatterdome during their first attempt at drifting together in Gipsy Danger, prompting Stacker Pentecost to ground her, and inform Raleigh that he would be paired with another co-pilot.

January 8, 2025:

Double Event.

Newton Geiszler drifts with a Kaiju brain.

Category IV Kaijus, Leatherback and Otachi, emerge from the breach and attack Hong Kong.

Crimson Typhoon, Cherno Alpha, and Striker Eureka are deployed.

Crimson Typhoon is destroyed and the Wei Tang brothers are killed by Otachi.

Cherno Alpha is destroyed and the Kaidanovskys are killed by Leatherback.

Striker Eureka is incapacitated by Leatherback's EMP, and Herc Hansen's arm is broken.

Since Gipsy Danger is analog and the only Jaeger able to withstand the EMP (don't ask! I didn't quite get that part!), Stacker finally agrees to let Raleigh Becket and Mako Mori co-pilot her in the field.

Stranded with an unresponsive Jaeger, Herc and Chuck Hansen decide they should do something really, really stupid climb on the top of the head of Striker Eureka and shoot at it with flare guns. For the record that was Herc's dumbass idea!

To absolutely no one's surprise, the flare guns do absolutely no damage to the Kaiju whatsoever, and they only manage to piss Leatherback off but still look badass doing it!

Gipsy Danger is deployed and saves Herc and Chuck Hansen 's sorry asses.

Chuck Hansen is revealed as a secret Gipsy Danger fanboy.

Leatherback and Otachi are killed by Gipsy Danger.

Otachi's baby Kaiju is born and dies via strangulation by umbilical cord during pursuit of Newton Geiszler.

January 12, 2025:

Triple Event.

Category IV Kaiju, Scunner and Raiju emerge from the Breach.

Since Herc Hansen is unable to co-pilot Striker Eureka with his son, Stacker Pentecost decides to take his place in the conn-pod.

Stacker Pentecost launches "Operation Pitfall", an assault involving Gipsy Danger and Striker Eureka on the Breach.

Category 5 Kaiju, Slattern, emerges from the Breach.

Raiju is killed by Gipsy Danger.

Striker Eureka self detonates thermonuclear bomb near the Breach, killing Scunner and a bunch of fishes and badly wounding Slattern.

Slattern is killed by Gipsy Danger.

Gipsy Danger uses Slattern's dead body as a "bar code" to grant them access to the Anteverse through the Breach.

Raleigh Becket sends Mako Mori to safety in her escape pod after she loses consciousness upon entering the Anteverse.

Raleigh Becket arms Gipsy's nuclear reactor to self-destruct, destroys the Breach, and narrowly manages to escape the Anteverse through his own escape pod before the Breach collapses.

Herc Hansen stops the War Clock!
