Southeast Asia (Nusantara archipelago), Philippines Malay swivel Cannon known often as Lantaka but more correctly a sub category of called Lelah, Lela, or Lila which are longer, bigger, and much larger bore swivel guns affixed to the legendary cannon barge considered a floating water castle called (Kotta Mara) or central cannon defense for a huge vessel. Cannons in this class were capable of firing as far as 1000 yards and distributing 4 pound shots effectively making them the most significant gunpowder based weapon in the Nusantara archipelago during the 16-18th c.
This example again features a bronze construction with many ornate features including a socketed tang to the rear for a wooden extension to hold the cannon, numerous bands of carving and bulbous features to tang with a large floral style transition to the primary base section of the cannon with patterns of carved protrusions and floral or revolving lotus like carving, two sights at the side of the touchhole, rear haft of the cannon is hexagonal and features an armorial plaque likely indicating it's original date or commemoration and two exceptionally carved dolphin handles with Malay style carved panels underneath, the side also features a museum export mounted seal placed during the cannons inspection & registration by the (National Museum of the Philippines) where it was salvaged from the sea floor. The trunnions support the swivel to the center section and is intact and retains fee motion when mounted, the forward half of the cannon is round and tappers slightly smaller as it reaches the breach muzzle which again also has a hexagonal section between the muzzle astragal and swell sections, the breach or muzzle hexagonal and intricately carved with a pierced sight to the top.
