Why can't we have a batman is the spirit of Gotham au?

He already is, in meta, in character, in theming. Him and the joker. He is so very built upon what Gotham is made of, and Gotham builds from what he needs in turn, the setting of his story.

What if that is the reason he can take damage that would permanently ruin a physical career and come back? What if that's how he's managed to maintain his no-kill streak to such an extent? What if that's how he manages to maintain such high maintenance and all consuming identities?

For the heart and soul of a city containing all extremes, the richest nobility and the lowest of the poor, the cruellest villains and the most compassionate heroes, orphaned children and ancient lineages, a city rooted in fear and madness and grit-teeth determination and hard won kindness, what better choice could you find than Bruce Wayne?

But what if he wasn't alone in that? What if Gotham has sunk to such a low because its spirit is damaged and corrupted?

okay this is it imma bout to rant about fiction once again

tell me why everyone knows and loves or at least has a strong opinion about the Lego Batman Movie, but i might just be the only human being who grew up IN LOVE with the Lego Batman Videogame(s)???

the first one is CLASSIC, no voice actors so child me could (and also couldn't cuz i was stupid) understand what was going on since I didn't speak english at all, and i remember LOVING the designs (they're not as good as i remember 😭) even tho i had no idea who the characters besides batman, robin and catwoman were. also that was when i fell in love with poison ivy cuz she had like ??? love powers (as i said, child me was a dumdum) cuz there was this one level where she controlled batman with a kiss akjdkakfkakdja

i remember i had a crush on justin bieber a little before the second game came out (it was babybabybabyohh) and then BOOM suddenly my childhood crush was a friggin blocky plastic minifigure wearing goth furry clothes:

(also, young me wouldn't know, but this is where i got most of the superbat vibes from-- when i saw this ship years later i was like "oh yeah, i remember in the videogame clark was head over heels for B and bruce was like 'i am the knight' which is batman code for ilyt", plus dick (who's dressed at tim for whatever reason) is like "oh yeah, why don't we call superman?" I'm telling ya he ships it

...i remember the whole game story like it's a fever dream i had-- there's an award show which bruce wins, joker jokers it up and batman & robin chase him, then i remember robin says something about how "dick grayson couldn't attend the party because they didn't take teenagers" (I didn't know who dick was so this was my introduction to him) and then fire in the elevator, SUPERMAN, [SPOILERS] he and bats visit lexcorp but turns out the other gay couple aka lex and joker did some lexing and jokering around and got a weapon that kills... black???? so batman would die-- but like-- he's not black, he's wearing black clothes-- oh shit, are they racist-- /j

now comes the final one:

wow this one is in space! kinda-- brainiac shows up and i remember this was the first time i saw j'onn and-- wait-- this robin is the same but-- in the scene where [SPOILER] batman is being mind controlled he says his name is.. tim drake?? who tf is tim drake, kid me would say. wow, there's more than one robin, kid me would say.

but then again, I didn't have this game cuz my dad was sick of spending our lunch money on videogames, so he got a gameplay online (just the cutscenes), glued them together and told me IT WAS A MOVIE (actually, i just assumed it) and i kept believing that until i saw my friend GAMEPLAYING said movie on his VIDEOGAME, one more evidence to "i was a dumb child.

and there was superbat shit in this one as well!! there's this scene where [SPOILERS] big blue babyboy is being mind controlled and is giant (tbh idek why he's giant and I'm not sure if they address why-- something to do with brainiac's shrinking kink i think) and brainiac is like "kill him" and bruce goes like "clark, ur my bestie, I don't say it often but i realized i gotta say it more cuz earlier tim almost got his ass eaten by a random alien and i felt fear" and clark is like "🥺🥺🥺" and mind control breaks with yay power of friendship (the whole plot is how in the beginning tim saying he was tim got bruce out of mind control which meant bruce cares about tim but bruce thinks it was cuz the batmobile went shock on him, so in the end he admits he was wrong and everyone hugs wow)

and after that i forgot dc was a thing until like four years later when dc superhero girls came out

Can you list your top 5 cruelest dark characters?

1. Goosebumps Bucky.

Possibly controversial for the top spot, but his actions aren't driven by any other motives than power. He's actually probably what some people would consider sociopathic. He literally didn't even care about B, but pretended to just to have power over her and the reader. He enjoyed the game he played and while yes, he's attracted to the reader, it's not a huge attraction. His power over the reader and what he does to her is what turns him on. He has no remorse and enjoys preying on people.

2. OLT Peter

The only reason he's at number 2 and not number 1 is because there was love there once. Power over the reader is not his motivation. He's absolutely obsessed with the reader and wants to be her whole world and rely on him and only him. With that being said, this Peter has like...no limits to what he'll do to achieve that. He'll go as low as he needs to if it will completely break the reader down to where he wants her to be. He'll say what he needs to and behave in a way he needs to in order to completely twist her mind to his liking. If it came down to it where his back was against the wall, he'd absolutely kill anyone he felt he needed to to completely destroy her mind.

3. Kept Woman Steve

He's cruel but he actually does want something with the reader. He wants the wife he feels is perfect for him but he just has no problems with pushing her to her limits. This Steve is almost toying with the reader. She both angers and amuses him but he likes it. He's at number 3 tho because he is a mafia boss and has done some unspeakable things that's even got protect and serve Steve beat.

5. Protect and Serve Steve

I really don't think I need to elaborate on this one 😭 he's a murderer and serial rapist and kidnapper and he'll happily break the reader down to where he wants her to be.

5. Regrets of Yesterday Steve

This Steve is actually much crueler than I showed but we definitely saw some of it. He was motivated to get the reader back purely out of a sense of ownership. He thought he could fuck half the country and still get his happily ever after with his wife. He can be cruel when he doesn't get his way as we saw several times. He's selfish and entitled and he hated that she got more out of their arrangement than he did. His ego couldn't take it and the whole situation made him feel inferior and slighted and he lashed out. He's an overgrown child with access to guns

But I'm kinda scared for Tim I mean he's either gonna end up with Buce or the titans at some point, im afraid that something terrible is gonna happen his family and then titans/bruce takes him in? That boy loves batman and robin so much like even his family seeing the news knew how much it would upset him although I will say that for the brain that kid has he makes some pretty stupid decisions, hes driving around GOTHAM plastered in the bat-symbol that's not a good idea! the amount of lunatics that roam free in Gotham (and possibly have escaped from arkham) and hate the bat and hes driving around with the bat symbol on him KID be careful!

Some kind of Anti-fear toxin does seem more accurate cuz he's clearly taking something to not be afraid. Maybe it's something he found in Gotham and decided to try it and got addicted so he's using that lab place to try recreate it? and maybe he can't recreate it perfectly cuz in the crowbarring scene he seemed kinda anxious about his surroundings and he'd just taken that inhaler thing to overcome fear so I dunno?? Or maybe he went to arkham to see Crane for some reason and Crane has orchestrated the whole thing and told him about the drug but then wouldn't Crane have to know everyone's identity then? Dude I dunno I need more episodes even tho the low quality glitchyness is painful lol

There's probably an abundance of rooms to choose from at Wayne manor yet Jason takes Dicks old room and keeps the flying graysons posters up! I like to think that he does view dick as an older brother and just took his room to kind of have a connection to him and that he admires him hence the graysons posters being left up, yooo dick calling him his brother! I really want a nice family reunion with dick jason and bruce 💕

Babs was too mean to bruce when she went off like I get where she's coming from but yo lady his son just died dial it down like a notch yikes but also babs being like 'i wonder how long it'll take for bruce to replace jason and dick is all 'what no the last thing bruce is gonna do is rope another kid into this mess'. Cut to scene of Bruces potential robin folder 😅 but I also like that dick was trying to be considerate and compose himself for bruce but once he found out that bruce is idiot enough to pull another kid into this, that that's when he got mad and bruce so brokenly begging dick to come back and be robin 😢😢😢

I know the show is constantly trying to push bruce out/sideline him cuz it's a titans show not a bruce wayne show and I know they're going for a different portrayal of bruce which I'm not complaining about I do like this version of bruce (more than I thought actually) and this universe but I feel like they could have gave more cracks you know, I like that they showed him trying to avoid the reality of jasons death and just not stopping not even for a second and just immediately jump into another case and that breakdown verge where he's begging dick to be robin and then when he finally I guess let's the weight of jasons loss sit on him to the point where he whacks in jokers head with a crowbar just like he killed jason (he could have killed joker so many other ways like a less violent bullet to the head but oh no brucey crowbars him to death!!)

There's a lot of character stuff that i do like but that scene where he's in the cave on his knees scrubbing his sons blood out of the suit he died in, the suit that he only ever wore because of batman. 😢 I feel like they could have had him crack there and let out a gut wrenching scream and then just continue on doing what he was doing as if nothing happened and dick walking in on that should have had more of a reaction!? like he could have stopped in his tracks at the sight of his brothers blood all over his father and bruce screaming, dick could have like took a step back almost like he's gonna run but forces himself to stay there, because who wouldn't want to run from that and no matter how much horrible things you've dealt with before sometimes your brain does just take over against your will and makes you react, the rest of the scene just could have played out the way it did. Literally one ounce more emotion is all I wanted.

No one really emotionally cracked at jasons death. I get that it just happened and that people put walls up and denial can be such a prominent thing when a loved one dies but it couldn't have been that difficult to put in little mannerisms now and again to show that everyone is deeply hurt but holding it in. Honestly gar seemed more hurt to me than dick did. But I do like that dick reacted in detective mode and started trying to figure things out from jasons side so at least there's that.

This redhood is defo not an anti hero he has well and truly landslided into villian territory and I dunno how that's gonna be reconciled? they better not kill him off! and they better not just straight up keep redhood/jason as a full on villian! but if they do get through to jason and bring him back a little how the heck is that little man gonna deal with what he did to Hank?? I feel like they had a bond you know and for all Hanks talk about putting Jason down I really don't think that Hank would actually have killed him even if it came down to Hanks life vs Jasons I think Hank would rather die than kill Jason (but that's heavily biased cuz in my mind jason is my son and I freaking love hank sooo) but Hank to me puts on a hard front like 'yeah I'll get in your face I'll come at you b*tch' but internally he's like 'yeah I'll come at you to help you' 😅 like internally he defo has a lot of soft spots though that's not to say he'd be like this for someone like the joker or scarecrow or whatever guys like that he'd be like no screw you you die or go to arkham like byeee

Random side note here but imagine Jasons first time in the batcave he would be so excited and trying to mess with everything and being like ohh what's that do and pressing random buttons and bruce having a hernia trying to get jason to stop before he accidentally blows the cave up 😅 also he has probably been caught several times trying to 'borrow' the batmobile, I can just picture him trying to sneak down the halls of the manor without the floor creaking and making it all the way into the cave and doing a victory dance cuz he didn't get caught and he hops on into the batmobile in his pj's and let's out a scream cuz alfred is sitting in the freakin passenger seat waiting for him and then they just hang out in the batmobile alfred had the good foresight to bring a flask of tea books and a blanket for jason

Speaking of Alfred I think it would have been more angsty and hurtful if Alfred died shortly after Jason and after a few days Jason claws his way out his grave and the first thing he sees is Alfreds headstone and that's how he finds out Alfred died : (((

I was also rewatching and that gas he takes def has to be some anti fear toxin cause he mentions fear so many times and flash backed to his near death fall, which he felt was probably holding him and back and thus had to prove himself and adds to whatever is influencing him. But ohhh he did seem pretty dang anxious at the carnival grounds, that’s a really interesting theory but recreating something he found hmm, I can see that.

Apparently according to a YouTube who got to see the first 5 episodes, we find out what his deal is a lot more in episode 5, so one more week hopefully

Brooo trueee, I couldn’t believe jason took dick’s room and like didn’t even change anything. Like Jason looks or at least use to look up to Dick SO much, like in his first episode in the first season, he went on quite a lot about how much he had always wanted to meet him and how much he looked up to him, which is probably also fueling his red hood rage, being hurt by your idol and brother like he did in S2 must have really just killed the boy. But yes omg, there freaking better be a dang family reunion scene like, after so much angst we deserve that 😭

And yesss, I loved seeing how mature Dick is getting and just how much he is growing as a character, the fact he was so calm and considerate with Bruce at first really shows that compared to s1 Dick, only breaking when Bruce tried to get more kids involved. That scene by Brenton was sooo well acted omg, the way he yelled that he doesn’t want to robin again, heartbreaking man. And Bruce begging like that omg

Yeah, this version of Bruce is def so different than any Bruce we have seen on screen before, like def the most emotionally constipated, and that’s saying something xD But I like how they are taking a risk, it also helps Dick’s character more and give him more of an arc, as he seems to be taking on Bruce’s normal role with Jason and red hood. Bro, you are so right omg, like the fact Bruce could have killed the joker in any way and he does it with the dang crowbar. It really shows how broken he really was and why the man shouldn’t depressing any and every damn feeling and emotion lol.

Yeah, I do wish someone cracked (other than Bruce lmao) a bit more, but I do think each character reacted in character though, like it is very Dick(at least this version of Dick, other versions may break down tbh) to put everything into solving the case and figuring out what was up, that’s more this version’s way of caring than just breaking down, like he rarely ever has broken down completely. I think dawn could have been a little more emotional about the death (tho she has enough coming for her lmao). Connor didn’t know Jason that well so it makes sense he would just be sad. Gar seemed pretty sad and in character about it, maybe could have had a bit more, same with Kori, tho she showed it by being almost angry and fiercely protective of everyone else, so I think that makes sense for her. It would have been interesting to see how Rachel and Rose would have reacted though (where did rose go btw?! She would so have a reaction to Jason’s death). But yeah, i wish there was more resolution and break downs for Jason, but also it may have just not felt real since they weren’t there? But I agree

Sandy smiled at the note. Arthur couldn't spell to save his own life, but Sandy found that endearing.

She couldn't help, but wonder where Dennis went off to. It seemed like he just disappeared overnight.

Not that Sandy really cared anymore. As she turned on the television, all her questions were answered.

"In other news, 3 men were killed last night on a subway. They appeared to be heading home, when a man in a clown mask snuck up behind them, and shot them several times. The men identified in the murder were Ryan Travis Williams, Johnathan Richard Wright jr., and Dennis James Cullen. Our hearts go out to the families of these men."

Sandy's eyes widened. Tears were sweeping down her face, but why?

Why was she crying over this monster?

Her face seemed to twitch into a smile. She cried out of the pure joy that he was dead. Her tears disappeared as she showered away the pain and sorrow that Dennis indulged on her.

Arthur arrived at Haha's, cleaning out his locker. The others in the background were discussing the events that happened last night.

"I heard it was a clown mask." One of them said.

"Hey, Arthur. I'm sorry that the boss threw the book at ya, mate." Gary said, walking up to Arthur.

Arthur shrugged, cleaning out his locker.

"Did you really bring a gun to a children's hospital, Artie? What the fuck is wrong with you?" A clown grumbled.

"Where the hell did you did a gun from?" Another clown asked.

Arthur smirked. "Why didn't you ask Randall? I still owe you for that, don't I?" He chuckled, pointing at Randall.

"What? Stop talking out of your ass, Art." Randall growled.

Arthur rolled his eyes, honking a horn. "Oh no, I forgot to punch out." He laughed, punching the clock in box over and over until it fell down off the wall.

Sandy stood outside, smoking a cigarette. Evening had come by so quickly, Sandy didn't even notice. She smiled, watching the sunset from her balcony.

"Did you hear about Dennis? God, it's awful." Dee said, over the phone.

"Believe it or not, Dee. I'm actually glad. This is exactly what I wanted." Sandy had a big smile on her face.

"That's a bit harsh, even for you, Sandy." Dee said, surprised.

"Dee, I feel young again." Sandy sighed, dreamily. "Dennis was such a burden on me. I can't go back to that."

"Well, I'm happy for you. Not to ruin your mood or anything, but Des is coming to town." Dee gulped.

Destiny was Dee's twin sister. She had an ego as well as a very pretentious attitude. Sandy's uncle, Charles, was a rich man that fueled the girl's behavior. Des was very smart, but never put her smarts to good use.

Des was always jealous of Sandy, because she was with Dennis, despite knowing about Dennis, and how much of a monster he really was.

Sandy facepalmed over the telephone. "Ugh. Why?" She groaned.

"Well, she's been saying that California's been boring, and she's been missing home. Who knows? Maybe she's changed." Dee shrugged.

"Yeah right." Sandy scoffed. "I gotta go, Dee. I'll call you later." Afterwards she hung up.

Sandy turned on the television again.

"Tonight, we're giving an exclusive interview with Thomas Wayne about the subway murders that happened just last week."

"Now, Mr Wayne, I know that it's a difficult time for you, and we thank you for being here with us tonight."

Sandy crossed her arms. Thomas Wayne was one of those men that were very scummy deep down. Sandy had met him once or twice at a company party. It wasn't until Dennis made top salesman that he was even invited to those parties.

"Well, I didn't know them, personally, but like all Wayne employees, past and present, they're family."

Sandy rolled her eyes as Thomas Wayne spoke on the television. She knew damn well that Thomas didn't care about his employees. Sandy's darkest moments were caused by Dennis not getting a promotion or just a rough day at work. Sandy deeply despised the man.

"It seems that our less fortunate residents are taking the side of the killer."

"Yes, and it's a shame. It's one of the reasons why I'm considering running for mayor. Gotham has lost its way."

"And what about the eye witness account, saying that the killer wore a clown mask of some kind."

"Well, it makes total sense. What kind of coward would do something so cold blooded? Someone who hides behind a mask. Someone who is envious of those more fortunate than themselves, yet they're too scared to show they're own face. Until those kind of people change for the better, those of us who've made something of our lives, will always look at those who haven't as nothing but clowns."

Sandy could feel her anger boiling through her skin. She could feel herself unraveling, and become violent. Her fist bled as she slammed it into the television. Shattered glass scattered the living room. Shattered glass that she had to clean up.
