Might be a long shot, but what do you think the chances are of a reboot for Spiral? I can't be the only one that would love to see that happen.

I would also love for that to happen but I really doubt it will, Spiral isn't exactly the most well known and popularity tends to be what influences reboots.

I would love to see more Spiral stuff but sadly it just doesn't seem likely

For my next liveblog, of anime, to run alongside Kamen Rider Ryuki, I'm presentiiiing.... 12 options!

Blue Gender's a scifi with some horror and with mechs, and from what I've heard it has a very cool woman, a loserman with weird cancer disease, violence, and crabs.

Mou Ippon is a show about a girls' judo club, and it would be the first sports anime I finish if I put it on! Got recommended it for being a non-horny girls sport anime, i like the designs, its got rivalries, and ive heard its underrated!

Asteroid In Love is vaguely a yuri, it's got an astronomical theme, I can never locate the manga for it, and I rarely watch slice of life shows so it also sems like a change of pace. Might not be too fun to liveblog tho?

MoNoNoKe is a show ive heard is fucking insane. About a medicine seller who hunts yokai with it all being morally ambiguous, wildly visual, and deliberately bizarre. Seems very fun to blog and watch, though maybe disorienting

SSSS Gridman is the only thing Tsubaraya has that isn't ultraman, and it has evil yuri megatron or so I've heard. Mech show with characters! got kaiju! comes highly recced.

Zetman seems to be both tokusatsu-y and stupidly edgy. That's al I know, that and the title character looks like an utter dingus!

Ex-Arm is a trainwreck masquerading as a yuri masquerading as a cyberpunk masquerding as a trainwreck masquerading as pornography. Few things have looked more funnybad on visuals alone. Also Zero Berzerker seems to be there

Agatha Christie's Great Detectives is an old show about both Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot occurring at the same time. Seems to be an interesting way to connect two series of mysteries. Also there is a bird and a girl

Canaan is a TYPE-MOON work, though doesn't seem to be in the Fateverse or the Tsukihimeniversity, it has mercenaries, violence, hopefully yuri, and even more hopefully the Nasu Dialogue we all know and love.

Otherside Picnic Manga Volume 3 Released in English

On Tuesday, Square Enix Manga released the third volume in Eita Mizuno's manga adaptation of Otherside Picnic (Urasekai Picnic) in English. The manga is based on the light novel of the same name by Iori Miyazawa.

Otherside Picnic is a Yuri science fiction thriller series that follows two young women, Sorawo and Toriko, who venture into a strange world known as the "Otherside." There, they encounter many dangerous creatures from Japanese internet folklore and urban legends as they work to unravel the secrets of the other world.

The publisher describes the manga:

The hunt for Satsuki continues, but Sorawo begins to have second thoughts in the face of Toriko's heedless urgency, leading to a heated argument... And when Sorawo loses her way in the space between reality and the Otherside, only to run into another mysterious entity—the Time-space Man—she discovers that Toriko's crossed to the Otherside without her! Unable to locate Toriko, Sorawo must put her feelings about Satsuki aside and enlist Kozakura in the search for her missing friend...

Otherside Picnic began serialization in Shounen Gangan in 2018. Square Enix publishes nine volumes of the manga in Japanese. The manga is based on Iori Miyazawa's novel series of the same name. The novels are illustrated by Shirakaba and published in English by J-Novel Club.

Critics and fans celebrate Otherside Picnic for its world-building, science fiction elements, use of horror and isekai themes, and characters. A television anime adaptation of the series aired in early 2021. Takuya Satou directed it at Liden Films and Felix Film.

Eita Mizuno is known for her 1999 mystery drama series Spiral: The Bonds of Reasoning (Spiral - Suiri no Kizuna), published in English by Yen Press, and her manga adaptation of Otherside Picnic. Iori Miyazawa is a celebrated Yuri science fiction author known for his novels Side-by-Side Dreamers, published in English by J-Novel Club, and Otherside Picnic. He has also written stories for SF Magazine.

What do your characters look for in a partner romantically? Personality/looks if they have a specific type?

Thank you for the ask! This is a fun and interesting question. :)

I’m not entirely sure which characters you want to hear about most, so I’ll focus on the Liddell kids. I have trouble with tumblr refusing to post anything long (not an issue I had in the past on tumblr, since I’d post chapters of stories on here), so if anyone wants to hear about other characters, I’ll do them in separate posts/asks. ^^

For all of the kids, however, someone “not like Vivian” is important in a partner! ahahaha Answers below cut ;)

I’ll start with Sophie, since she’s actually had romantic partners. She’s been in several relationships, even if Brielle and Rhett are the only two times she’s ever been married. As far as personality, she seeks those who are kind and make her laugh. People she can relax around. Those who enjoy a bit of mystery and things that are whimsical, if only because she’s anxious that revealing she’s a spirit could total the relationship.

For looks, she tends to be one of those “fall in love with the person and start seeing all the beauty of their features even more” people, but she does like pretty eyes and a kind smile to attract her attention first. :)

I’ve mentioned Shannon is aroace before, in that he’s never experienced any sort of arousal or romantic attraction to people. This has nothing to do with his upbringing, although that does affect him having any partners. He might thrive in a queerplatonic polyship someday. For now, I’ll just be grateful he’s warming to his siblings and understanding that Phineas’s other kids are also his found family.

Shannon would require that partners not be anything like Vivian and Graham. That extends to more than personality. Maybe he needs a quiet dork of a partner who enjoys reading by the windows on rainy days, the curtains open wide to let in all the natural light despite the weather. :’)

Shannon will not date humans.

Howie finds “liking nature” attractive. (I feel like spirits in general will gravitate toward those who love nature, who knew? But I bet he dates a lot of people whose favorite season is autumn “coincidentally”.) He does have a preference for redheads. He loves having someone to compete with on racing or climbing, someone who’ll join him on hikes.

As he wants kids eventually, he will seek partners who feel the same about parenting as he does, given his traumatic background. It’s not a spoiler because this takes place well beyond the epilogue, but Howie does have a family and ends up being like… Best Dad Ever.

Howie will date humans, but for long-term partners, he’ll hold preference for fellow spirits.

Bee… has a partner in the epilogue, and saying too much about what he wants is a bit of a spoiler. I’ll just let that relationship speak for itself, and if anyone has further questions, feel free to ask them. I plan to keep asks open for a while after I finish the series, although I’m sure it’ll eventually taper off and just be around for reference to new readers, if I have any. xD

Okay, so El.

El… is attracted more to fictional characters. Particularly monsters. Scales and horns are sexually attractive. I answered another ask about sexualities and briefly mentioned this, but I was a bit self-conscious about going into it at the time. He’s probably aro, but he loves the idea of romance and courtship—at least to make it a significant part of his reading!

And while I’ve been too chickenshit to actually wonder this out loud before, I’ve honestly thought that based on how unhealthy El and Howie’s dynamic is, how many readers have ended up shipping them. No judgment here, obviously it crossed my mind. It has that taboo ripeness for the picking, that’s all? It’s not canon, but I also don’t mind people shipping characters. (I’m old, and some of my earliest fandoms included Clamp works and Spiral Suiri no Kizuna soooo…yeah.)
