Ironically, I feel we, as a Phandom, don't talk about Sam's Friend to All Living Things status enough.
#admittedly some of the personality traits usually associated to this trope don't exactly apply to Sam#while an altruistic person with very sweet and caring moments she doesn't exatly fit the superaturally innocent or saccharine sweet aspect#but her soft spot for anything nature-related has always been apparent#the only except would be Cujo#but I think that was mostly so they could make the cat person joke#danny phantom#dp#sam manson#danny fenton#tucker foley#plant! sam#delilah#one of a kind#splitting images#urban jungle#claw of the wild#a glitch in time#agit#nickelodeon#nick#nicktoons#2000s cartoons#wulf#there's also the fact that she's both surprisingly and unsurprisingly a horse girl

I posted this on Reddit because they're much more negative about Sidney, but it's going here too.
(Note: In this post I use "obsession" both as the dictionary definition of the word, and as the fanon concept. The fanon concept will be capitalized as "Obsession", and the dictionary definition word will be capitalized as "obsession".)
Sidney Poindexter is a great character. We have more information about his life than we do about any other ghost. We know the year he died (1958) and approximately how old he was (17 or 18, because he was in senior year).
He has a great design. While the color green is often overused in other ghosts, Poindexter has no green in his design at all, and yet still manages to fit in with the rest of the ghost designs. His monochrome color palette is arranged very well, and it fits with his personality and backstory and lair- he's stuck in the time period he died, stuck in that last year of school. He's black and white like a photo from that time period.
Poindexter even introduced the term "halfa"! The majority of the fandom uses it, but in canon, Poindexter is the only one who ever says it.
Speaking of fanon concepts and Poindexter, Poindexter's obsession with bullies is very similar to the fanon concept of Obsessions. People say Danny has a protection Obsession, but Danny's only protecting the town because, to quote Spiderman, "with great power comes great responsibility." Meanwhile, Poindexter sees the entire world in terms of "bullies" and "people who need protecting from bullies," even lecturing Skulker about it! Skulker is a gigantic hunter made of metal and guns who wants to skin a child, and Poindexter is a tiny little nerd with 0 physical strength whatsoever, and yet Poindexter bosses Skulker around repeatedly.
Poindexter's obsession and trauma drive the plot of Splitting Images. He's a teen/young adult who faced a tragic death, implied to be either murder or suicide, and both are horrible options to go through. As a result, he's fixated on the thing that caused his death, his bullies and bullies in general. He's so obsessed that he jumps to conclusions and refuses to consider that he may be wrong. This personality flaw causes him to be the villain of his episode, despite him being a morally good person.
Poindexter sees himself as the hero and Danny as the villain, which is a very interesting thing for the villain of an episode to do! Many other villains in the show just want to cause problems on purpose. Poindexter thinks Danny is the one causing problems on purpose.
We see that when Danny is in Poindexter's lair and body, he can only see through the mirror to the human realm when he's actively looking through it. This shows that Poindexter is very likely to not have seen Dash bullying Danny, and it's coincidence that he saw Danny's revenge.
To me, Poindexter is the most ghostly of the ghosts. He's stuck in the past, he had a tragic death, he haunts a specific location, and there's even an urban legend about him!
Splitting Images, and therefore Poindexter, is often hated for its bad forced moral. But The Ultimate Enemy also has a bad forced moral. At least Splitting Images plot has a Watsonian explanation in the form of Poindexter's personality and trauma being the thing driving the plot. Meanwhile, in The Ultimate Enemy, the plot is driven by burger sauce ex machina. I've seen many people who dislike Poindexter due to the forced moral of Splitting Images, but like Dark Danny despite the forced moral of The Ultimate Enemy.
To me, Dark Danny seems like a flat one-note villain. Despite the grief that caused his existence, he doesn't seem to care about the people he's lost, or about anything really, and merely focuses on destruction. He wants to recreate the events that caused him, yes, but what is his motivation for causing the apocalypse and destroying Ember's vocal cords and putting Johnny in a wheelchair before any of the time travel stuff happened?
Poindexter is much more nuanced in personality and has a sensible motivation for causing problems. (Not sensible as in it's a good idea, but it makes sense given his personality and trauma that we already know.)
I'm not saying people should dislike Dark Danny. But please, give Poindexter a chance. He isn't any worse written than the rest of the characters in this show. I brought up Dark Danny in comparison due to the fact both their episodes have dumb forced morals, but I could easily compare Poindexter's writing to many other characters as well. He's much more fleshed out than the majority of the ghosts. But this post is getting too long, so I won't.

Danny Fenton Screencap Redraw || millieueu
Was bored from drawing requests and decided to use my dad’s tablet as a way to entertain myself. Went to Procreate and tried drawing a random DP screencap. Lines might look a little inconsistent because I find it more difficult to control the weight of the lines with an Apple pencil rather than my own finger, XD
(Note : I used IbisPaintX only to add my watermarks)
Here’s the process of the artwork down below :
Criticism is appreciated, please be nice though!

Watching Splitting Images and I'm wondering about the dimension that Poindexter is trapped in, because it's filled with other kids from the 50s. Sidney Poindexter's backstory is that he was a real person who died and started haunting one of the lockers at school- but he's also trapped in a dimension that's stuck in the 50s, and it's exclusively a school hallway that seemingly just exists to torment Sidney for all of eternity. He's bullied constantly, nonstop, by his peers. But are his classmates who bully him projections of the memories of his classmates to make eternity feel more real? If they are, how do they know about ghosts? (Like, wouldn't that break the immersion a bit??) They acknowledge that Danny is a Halfa and actually call him "The Halfa," like they all consider Danny's existence common knowledge. So maybe it's more likely that they're ghosts - but there's, like, at least twenty of them, and they're all high schoolers. They would have had to all died at around the same time, right? I wonder if something happened at the school back in the 50s? Some kind of accident?? Or did all those kids actually live into adulthood but LOVED BULLYING SIDNEY SO MUCH that when they died they reverted back to their teenage years just to have a chance at tripping some nerd in the hallways again? I don't know man

Astrotech Dragon Au thoughts compiled
I have apparently made a whole ass au now so here’s a compilation of it since I can’t think of a new flavor of Prisoner’s of Love yet
Parental Bonding: Danny uses his powers like he has a brain and Sam goes on an adventure with Dora while Danny and Tucker explore the world of actually going on a date. Sam winds up with Aragon’s amulet. (Maybe she has to attune with it or something to be able to control it and when it harmonizes with her, it turns her into a smaller dragon which must grow in power)
One of a Kind: Skulker is given the appropriate amount of fear reaction in at least commentary, and Jazz’s interview stunt gets word out about Fentonworks’ technological wonders via the magazine.
Splitting Images: Danny befriends Sidney Poindexter and they prank Dash deviously until Sidney decides to try and just kill Dash to make an example out of him. Danny stops him as Fenton, gaining Dash’s respect and admiration (and perhaps infatuation who knows?)
Attack of the Killer Garage Sale: Dash invites Danny to his party because of The Big Gay, Danny acts the way he did also because of The Big Gay. Dash sees Danny transform, the trio + Sidney convince Technus to abandon world domination (which is lame) and challenge himself to fix the world’s problems through technological innovation.
What you Want: Danny jokingly wishes for a dick when he meets Desiree, who’s wish granting smoke he mistakes for an attack, triggering his first ghostray. Tucker, jealous of Sidney’s new bond with Danny and Danny’s cool powers, wishes to have spirit powers like Danny. Desiree grants this in that Tucker experiences being struck by lightning in a thick cloud of pure ectoplasm. Danny wishes Desiree to the worst part of the deepest pits of the Spirit World and does his best to comfort Tuck through becoming Ghoul.
Bitter Reunions: Vlad’s first reaction to the ghost of a child telling him not to hurt Mr.Masters’ guest is to reveal himself as Mr.Masters. Danny reveals himself in turn. Vlad makes the plan to endear himself to Maddie and Jazz while teaching Danny how to half ghost, and possess Jack every now and then to escalate his behavior into the realm of unbearability for Maddie. Harriet Chin gets the promise of an interview regarding Jack and Maddie’s technology out of them at the party.

One consistency issue that gets at me when it comes to Sam is how they often treated her love for animals and activism in their favour as a joke. And one they didn't even bother to keep every time it actually would make sense for the writers to bring it up, at that.
One such example is her complete indifference to Cujo in Shades of Gray. Now, don't get me wrong, Shades of Gray was 100% Valerie's episode and her chance to shine, so naturally, I'm not saying the episode should have been about Sam instead of Valerie and Danny's budding rivalry. Nothing further from my intention.
What I mean is that it makes absolutely no sense for her to care so little about Cujo just so they could make a quick "haha, she's a cat person" joke.
Cujo starts barking to Danny, trying to go to him making uprooting the tree. Sam and Tucker holds on the tree branch as Cujo drags them down the hill. Sam: [Sighs. Turns to face Tucker.] "This is why I'm a cat person."
Even if it is quite common for people to have a preference between cats and dogs, I just don't think it meshes well with her already established animal lover personality that refuses to eat anything with a face. Especially when early on in the show she was absolutely mesmerised by Delilah, a gorilla, and bent on keeping the frogs from being dissected.
And you could say, "Well, Geeks, Delilah was an endangered species and those frogs were going to get killed. Of course it'd make more sense for Sam to care about them more than Cujo." And you would raise a very valid point, except for the fact that we later find out that Cujo and the other guard dogs were all put down in favour of the new, more technologically advanced security system.
Don't tell me that kind of heartlessness is not the kind of thing Sam, who did not hesitate to get on Skulker's case for so much as suggesting Delilah should be in a cage (even if he was actually talking about Danny and she was in the wrong there), would completely blow a gasket over.
Same-ish with Wulf.
Again, Public Enemies is a great episode, and Danny's conflict with Walker definitely deserved all the spotlight. It's just that it feels contradictory for Sam to be so blasé over Wulf's situation. I mean, a wolf ghost who's been unjustly incarcerated and repeatedly tortured with a shock collar and Sam doesn't seem all that bothered about it?
That makes absolutely no sense!
Thankfully, they remedied it somewhat in Claw of the Wild, but still.
If you're going to introduce a character as a committed animal rights activist, be consistent about it, damnit!
