19/12/2023 Seattle Kraken vs Dallas Stars
The Summer I Fell For Hockey - The Kraken Wagon: How to Stay Silly in the Face of Loss
I’m the asshole on the tram who’s watching hockey on their phone and not paying attention. This is how my afternoon commute home starts. I almost run into at least two people, I definitely trip a guy trying to get off the tram because I’m not looking, and I’m caught scrambling for the door after nearly missing my stop. My walk home is slowed by my unwillingness to take my eyes off the live feed. I’m sweating through an ill-advised sweater vest thrown on at 6 in the morning on my way out the door and my feet sting from the 5 hour shift I just finished — but I don’t care. The Kraken are down 0-2 and it feels like if I stop watching, if I even think about hurrying home through the swampy, muggy afternoon, the game will run away from us.
“The Kraken are a wagon” is a sentiment I’ve come across repeatedly in my idle googling about my team. They’re a new team, my friend tells me over discord — she fell out of love with ice hockey years ago, some time back when the Kraken were first drafting their inaugural season lineup — and as soon as I hear it I am enamoured with them. A baby team! One that’s still building an identity, trying to figure out its core; and I’m already so charmed by their jerseys — toothpaste red, white, and blue, a squiggly tentacle ‘S’ for Seattle and a glaring sea monster’s eye — but a baby team? That’s the kind of story I can gorge myself on.
So they have me. I’m in and I’m reading primers and checking player stats, and I only find out about the “Kraken wagon” later. My squids have been in free fall all season, I learn this not long after I catch a game (their 0-3 defeat to the Minnesota Wild). This is what I get for choosing teams based on jersey colours, it’s not too late to swap loyalties — my regulars, who have by now heard all about my latent ice hockey obsession, tell me this as I pour their coffees. They don’t get it yet. If I truly didn’t like the Kraken, I’d have given up on them by now. The jersey colours, at this point, are immaterial. The jerseys are a cute bonus.
Here’s the rub: no one ever expected them to make the Stanley Cup playoffs in their second ever season of existence, but they did — or, some past incarnation of them did. The shadow that this playoffs run casts, even now, is where the “wagon” accusations stem from. But I didn’t join them when times were good. I joined them after an 8 game-long skid into the boards.
It’s hard to love something when all you ever see are the worst parts of it, some might assume. Looking through the Kraken tag tells an entirely different story. Loving the Seattle Kraken has come so easily to me largely due to the tiny group of die-hard followers I’ve come into contact with. I have a tab perpetually open on my second monitor at home when I’m watching games, set to the Kraken’s liveblog tag, and each time I’ve tuned in has been the ride of my life. It’s clear from the speed at which we like and reblog each other’s posts that we’re all regularly checking the tag when something happens. It’s like the world’s most intimate Twitch chat section, the world’s least intimate discord call. We’re mutuals and besties, strangers and fellow fans — I imagine if we were in the stands together, we’d look at each other when our Kraken score and cheer together, maybe we’d scream and laugh in half-disbelief.
The Dallas Stars are at the top of the Western Conference’s central division table, and they play like it. In the first few minutes of the match, Duchene and Seguin blast through and slip one past Daccord, no easy feat given he’s been on fire himself recently. Time after time, the Kraken’s power play is wrecked. The Kraken are being given the runaround, having to doggedly chase down intercepted pucks where the Stars’ passes always seem to connect. Recovery from 0-2 might seem impossible from where they are at the end of the first period, but the Kraken bring to the second period the same energy they had for their relentless puck hunting. Matty B and Tuna — Beniers and Tatar  — put us on the scoreboard and keep us in it, even as we lose Canner and Belly to injuries. Recovery from such an early and demoralising goal deficit isn’t impossible, just increasingly unlikely when you’ve got no superstars and are trying to throw off the wagon allegations.
That’s another thing: expectations are low. And not in a way that’s meant to disrespect the Kraken players — it’s closer to how animals might ball up and protect their vulnerable, soft bellies from harm. Losing, to be perfectly candid, fucking sucks. Reminding ourselves that any gains — no matter how trivial — still count as a win is one way to stave off the inevitable heartbreak. Another way we do it is, to paraphrase several Kraken bloggers,  “staying silly”.
If I were to distill the essence of silliness, I’d start with hockey itself. This game is a goofy one, in spite of my past assertions about warrior’s codes and narratives and unspoken honour. On-ice collisions can in fact be the height of slapstick comedy; and today the tension of a potential line brawl was broken with, of all things, the arena DJ playing Mortal Kombat music. As for the people? Even as the Kraken went down two goals halfway through the first period, the posts and memes rolled in.
Watching sports is meant to be a leisure activity. If the stress of it ever becomes too much for me, stepping away is vital. Having the denizens of krakenblr being silly alongside me is like having an extra layer of armour between us and the heartache of loss. We crack jokes about manifesting wins, about freeing our boys from the penalty box (they’ve never done anything wrong in their lives, ever, and even if they did those assholes had it coming), about our players who are babygirls, about the endless double-entendre made by Forslund and Olczyk. For each time we scored, for each penalty taken, each power play and penalty kill the tone set by everyone was simple: stay silly.
In the last minute of the third period, the Kraken rally for one final push. With Daccord pulled from the net the 6-man rush is relentless, and they manage to get up in the Stars’ faces. This is the grit that so inspired my admiration. Though the recaps on the news feed might only list one or two names on the assist, the last goal of third period is thanks to everyone on the ice. The Kraken players perform as their namesake implies: as one they are a many-armed leviathan, come to drag you and yours down, down, down, into the deep.
Vince Dunn — Dunner or Vincess depending on who you ask — keeps the puck from the blue line, Wenny snatches it away from a tight spot between two Stars, and everyone works to feed it back onto Bjorkstrand’s tape. Bjorkstrand’s shot cracks down the line and into the crease — and how’s this for poetry: from the same goddamn place on the ice he shot the last time he had to even up a game going into overtime — and the ensuing scuffle ends with Tolvy tipping it past Wedgewood. After a deeply frustrating review from the situation room, the goal is called good and we’re confirmed for overtime. Various posts to the effect of, “No matter what happens, I love you all. We’ll be okay,” flood the tag as I refresh my page. With them, it truly ain’t that serious; and going into overtime, even knowing the Kraken have one of the least impressive OT records in the league, truly cements it for me. The Kraken will be my team for the foreseeable future.
I won’t keep you in suspense, if you’re reading this from the outside looking in. The game ends in a loss. But I’m no heavier than I was when the game started. On the contrary, I’m lighter. The little reservoir of dread that had built up inside me in the early hours of the game has been emptied by a tidal wave of sweetness, of sincere well-wishes and optimism. To the Kraken fans I’ve interacted with so far: thank you all so much for what is possibly the warmest welcome I’ve ever received to a fandom space, thank you for making this game and this team so easy to love, thank you for shielding my tender flesh from loss and making even defeats a little fun.
So what if the Kraken are a wagon? It’s a clown wagon, and we’re riding it together; hand in silly hand.

my opinion of the umbrella academy
as a longtime fan of the umbrella academy, this season really broke my heart
first off, i want to say that the cast and actors did an amazing job. if the season fell short, it’s definitely not on them. thank u so much everyone, i love u sm
one thing that really didn’t work for me was the love triangle between five, lila, and diego. it felt awkward and unnecessary. and the whole idea of having a barely legal actor kiss someone much older? that was just uncomfortable. the minute aidan turned legal, they jumped into a love plot with him, which felt off. i never saw five as the romantic type, sure there was dolores, but that relationship wasn’t nearly as strange as this one with lila
and what was up with that subway station? why did it even exist? and jennifer coming out of a squid? i’m still scratching my head over that one. i’m also confused about how allison and diego’s kid are still alive. so many weird and empty plot points were left hanging, and it doesn’t look like we’ll get any answers soon….
honestly, it’s hard to gather my thoughts on this last (and awful) season. i’ve been following the show since day one, and the first two seasons were perfect and so much fun. but season 4 felt like it destroyed everything—the characters, the story, even the fandom
klaus’s “side business” didn’t sit right with me, and i didn’t like how viktor was isolated with sir reginald for almost the entire season. the whole ben and jennifer storyline felt unnecessary, and that love triangle just didn’t work for me
if i’m pointing fingers, i’d blame netflix and the showrunners. netflix shows seem to be declining in quality over time. the company used to produce some truly great shows, like orange is the new black and when they see us. but now, it feels like they’re just milking the cow for content without much care for quality i first noticed this with money heist after season 2—it felt like they got greedy and decided to milk the show for all it was worth. sure, netflix is a big corporation focused on making money, but it’s disappointing that they can’t balance that with creating something meaningful. look at squid game 'a brilliant show' that really touched on the struggles people face when they’re buried in debt. but then netflix turned it into a cash grab with reality shows. i can’t help but wonder how the creator of squid game feels about that.

20 Most Anticipated K dramas to watch in 2024
Tumblr media
Without a single doubt 2023 has been a prosperous year for us Kdrama fans. Starting from Crash Course in Romance in January 2023 to Gyeongseong Creature in December, the entire year of 2023 has brought us several unique stories, fantastic plots, sometimes sad endings and sometimes fairly-tale like “happily ever after”.
Even though there were a fair amount of Korean Dramas that were disappointing in 2023, but trust me when I say it, 2024 is certainly not going to disappoint you at all. Even when 2023 has delivered back to back hits like The Glory 2, Good Bad Mother, Moving and many more, 2024 stores sequels to hit kdramas along with some fresh new stories ready to blow us kdrama fans out of our minds.
So, without wasting any more time, let’s get into the list.
20 K dramas to watch in 2024
1. Squid Game 2
Episodes: 6 (Not confirmed yet)
Expected release date: Around October 2024
Genre: Thriller, action, mystery
Squid Game redefined the place of Korean Dramas in the global entertainment industry. This drama became the first non-English act to win six Emmy awards as well as gained the title of the most watched Netflix series ever. And to level up the death game even more, Squid Game season 2 is all set to be released in October 2024.
This season promises Eight additional cast members, making the anticipation even more exciting. So, are you ready to witness this intense gory thriller in 2024 or not?
2. Marry My Husband
Episodes: 16
Release date: 1st January
Genre: Drama, Romance, Fantasy
This fantasy romance then takes us 10 years back before Kang Ji Won was even married. While she gets to choose a new life for herself, we get to enjoy this star studded drama full of angst and romance.
3. Aema
Episodes: 6
Expected release date: Yet to be confirmed
Genre: Comedy, drama
Next in the list is the comedy drama Aema, which is all set to feature Lee Ha-Nee, Bang Hyo-Rin, Jin Sun-Kyu, and Cho Hyun-Chul as the main cast. The backdrop of the drama is set in the 1980 as it tells the story of Jung Hee Ran a top actress, who is casted as the protagonist of a movie titled “Madame Aema”.
This drama will certainly be a fun watch with an intriguing plot. Thus, don’t forget to add it to your list of K dramas to watch.
4. Everything will Come true
Episodes: 12
Expected release date: Not confirmed yet
Genre: Fantasy, romance, drama
Who didn’t like Uncontrollably Fond aka one of the saddest k dramas to watch? Only recalling the amazing chemistry between Shin Joon Young (Kim Woo Bin) and No Eul (Bae Suzy), makes us want to scream and cry for the couple. But don’t worry, Woo Bin and Suzy’s upcoming Korean drama Everything will come true will have a much lighter tone with a sprinkle of fantasy to it.
Woo Bin here plays the role of an emotional genie who meets Ga Young (Bae Suzy) and promises to grant her three wishes. But everything that’s free often comes at a price. However, we hope it’s not a broken relationship this time.
5. The Trunk
Episodes: 8
Expected release date: Yet to be confirmed
Genre: Romance, melodrama, mystery
Gong Yoo is returning with romance and melodrama and it won’t be in your watchlist? How is that even possible! The Trunk is certainly one of the most anticipated k dramas to watch in 2024, not only because it’s Gong Yoo and Son Ye Jin casted as the main lead, but also because this drama is an adaptation of 2022 novel The Trunk by C.M. Castillo.
The intriguing plot of this drama takes us inside the life of No In Ji, the head of a fixed-term marriage agency and Han Jung Won, a music producer. Both of them despise the idea of getting married but eventually fall in love as the drama progresses. Interesting.. Isn’t it?

Meet the Writer [tag]
@squid-scribe tagged me!! Thanks! Rules: Use this picrew to make yourself and answer the questions
Tumblr media
Three fun facts about me: 1) I have watched nearly 500 different anime. I'm a bit behind on some new things and have a to-watch-list about 100 long. I'm obsessed, so if you also have this interest feel free to chat me up! (Literally listening to the Dororo theme right now) 2) I'm a pagan who worships Lilith, Hecate, and Inari in particular, but also others. I'm a bit of a lazy witch and need to practice more, but ya know chronically ill and all that messes with everything in life. I am really good at divination, especially tarot. I've never had a bad reading, meaning every friend I read for says what I talked about with them helped. I also use pendulums and cast spells as needed. I have a box of herbs locked up in my altar along with candles and gems and all, though I stick to a small subset of items for budget. Not a crystal hoarder lol. 3) I'm a bit of a fashionista. I love clothes. If you need style help consult me~ For myself, I'm big into girly clothing. Lots of dresses and romantic looks, but also punk and corsets and fairytale vibes. I calmed it down some as I age, but I used to stop people in their tracks in college lol. I could never afford clothes or pick my own before college years, so I really went all out. Favorite Season: Want to say Winter, but lately it affects my body more in bad ways, so I'll say Autumn. Continent where I live: North America, sadly in the USA and I want out. How I spend my time: Lots of doctor visits, anime, sleepy bitch, writing for my multiple series (mostly Arigale rn for a while), gaming, and spending time with my partner (married). I also enjoy cosplay and attend a con every Nov. with my illustrator and best friend. Are you published?: Yes! I have the first book of Arigale out right now (self-published) and plan on releasing two more books at the end of 2023. Introvert or Extrovert: Introvert by faaaar. T_T I want to talk and meet people, but it's so hard. Favorite Meal: Oh gosh. I spent a half year in Osaka, Japan in college studying Japanese and the culture and I'll never forget the food. Feed me anything Japanese and I'm pretty happy. Katsudon, sukiyaki, mochi, okonomiyaki, taiyaki, yakitori, bentos, don bowls, miso soup, ramen, that delicious ginger dressing on salads, shabu shabu, curry, tempura, oden, onigiri, inari udon, soba, etc. forever.
I'll tag, hmmm: @authoralexharvey @author-a-holmes @human-still-developing

Reflecting on Star Wars Celebration 2023
For 2023, Star Wars Celebration was held in London, England, part of Europe. Fans had a blast, whether they actually attended in person wearing cosplay or just regular clothes, or tuned into the live broadcasts on the Star Wars Youtube channel. Like last year in 2022, there were a lot of surprises and awesome guests, but 2023 had a lot of special moments and emotional responses. The hosts of each panel also need some appreciation, I loved the energy and relatable moods they brought to each day. In this post, I’ll recap some of the amazing highlights of each celebration day, and share my thoughts on the panels I attended while tuning into the lives at home.
Starting off with Day 1, the excitement was at the top-level. Considering it was in London, the live started at 5 AM for me where I live. So I definitely did not get any sleep, but it was worth it. The Ahsoka series got the most recognition of the day with the teaser trailer dropping to all the fans. I woke up to the trailer being posted and immediately watched it, trying not to scream so loudly. Rebels fans were truly getting fed with the new live-action debuts of Hera, Sabine, Ezra, Thrawn, and Chopper. The Acolyte cast were given introductions, and I had no idea that a star from Squid Game (Lee Jung-jae) was going to be in it. I’m really excited to see more of this show. The Making of Andor was discussed with a few of the cast members and creators there, and Diego Luna really highlighted what Andor means to a personal level. Season 2 is in the making, and that will be something worth looking forward to. The next Star Wars films were also announced, and Dave Filoni’s directing one??? Let’s see what he has in store for us.
Day 2 included just as much fun as the first day had. There were more discussions on the Ahsoka characters, and Lars Mikkelsen IS PLAYING THRAWN?! Definitely a good live-action casting choice. Ming-Na Wen came to celebration to host the panel celebrating 40 years of Return of the Jedi, looking back at the characters and how that movie’s plot set up a lot of iconic memories. She also came to an interview to discuss her character, Fennec Shand, and how she is a “badass”. Andy Serkis came to the stage and certainly incited a powerful audience (”ONE WAY OUT!”). It’s unbelievable how it’s already been 15 years of The Clone Wars, with Matt Lanter, James Arnold Taylor, and Ashley Eckstein looking back at the legacy of all of it. Ian McDarmid served the iconic laughter of Palpatine, and Anthony Daniels arrived with his usual charm that makes C-3PO lovable, and got to meet one of his droid fans. Billy Dee William’s charm is irresistible, and we love to see Star Wars authors getting recognition.
In Day 3, there was a lot more looking back to look forward to. Starting off with the panel celebrating a few of the villains of the Sequels-Phasma, Snoke, and Palpatine-it was interesting to hear their perspectives. Cameron Monaghan served his look on the stage while rocking a poncho, and we love to hear the discussions about ponchos. He even gave it to a cosplaying fan, which was so sweet. Discussing “Jedi Survivor”, the sequel to “Jedi: Fallen Order”, there’s a lot more action to look forward to in the next game. Vivien Lyra Blair is just too adorable, and we have to agree with Hayden Christhansen; “This is where the fun begins” is one of the best Anakin lines. Along with Ewan McGregor and a few other cast members and creators, the team looks back at the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, getting nostalgia between the relationship of Obi-Wan and Anakin.
And finally, Day 4 was sad as it was to be the last day of celebration, but the energy was extra hyped this day. This day was filled with content of The Bad Batch, and we love to see everyone fangirling over Dee Bradley Baker performing the voices of a few clones. (Tech and Phee are canon now after they talked about it, you can’t change my mind.) Michelle Ang is so pure at heart, and we love to hear her takes on Omega and having her grow up a bit. The fact that Season 3 will be the last Bad Batch season is saddening, there’s still so much to discover. Ashley Eckstein is truly such a kind human being, and we love to see her giving the Ahsoka recognition that is truly deserved. A second season of Tales of the Jedi was announced, and we will be getting a Volume 2 of Star Wars: Visions, and I am in love with the animation. The fact that the studio who produced the film “Wolfwalkers” is getting to create a short in this makes me happy. Listen, Nubs, that little jedi from that upcoming Disney Junior show, Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures, is so CUTE! The closing ceremony was filled with a lot of emotions, but we can’t wait until the next celebration to see everyone again. Star Wars Celebration is truly home.
My first celebration was back in 2022, and I had attended that one through the lives at home as well. Whenever I sit down to attend the live streams, I really feel like I’m there at celebration, and I have tons of fun every time. Let’s look forward to enjoying ourselves again in 2025 in Japan!

📰 "MZ Generation Reveres '2023 ver. Tae-Hye-Ji': Han Sohee, Go Yoonjung, and Park Gyuyoung [Star@Style]" (#ParkGyuyoung Cut)
Tumblr media
[AtStyle reporter Kim Yena] The representative actresses leading the 2000s can be condensed into the 'Tae-Hye-Ji' trio. Kim Taehee, Song Hyekyo, and Jun Jihyun, who have dominated dramas, movies, and commercials, have maintained their title for years. However, in 2023, the actresses revered by the MZ generation are different. Han Sohee, Go Yoonjung, and Park Gyuyoung, who connect the genealogy of Tae-Hye-Ji, form the central axis.
Han Sohee, Go Yoonjung, and Park Gyuyoung have climbed the steps diligently. They focused on acting while concurrently serving as brand ambassadors fitting their respective images, thereby expanding their popularity. Unlike their predecessors who opted for an aura of mystique, they did not lose touch with their fans. They adopted a smart strategy, emphasizing consistent efforts rather than instant stardom.
....
< Born in 1993, Park Gyuyoung >
- As good at acting as she is at studying
Tumblr media
Since her debut work in 2016, Park Gyuyoung has been actively acting. Until she became an actress, Park Gyuyoung was an honour student. She studied at a foreign language high school and a prestigious university in Seoul, indeed a student who is both beautiful and academically excellent. Even while engaging in acting, Park Gyuyoung completed her university education. Still, she did not neglect her work projects. She acted diligently as if she were studying. After her debut, she showcased her passion for acting by appearing in over 30 works. Especially keen on improving her character immersion, Park Gyuyoung never hesitated to learn. She learned to ride a two-wheeled bicycle in advance for a role, took bass guitar lessons for a practice performance scene, and it is known that she separately practised boxing, jiu-jitsu, and baseball for her action scenes.
Bob-cut Hair Fever
This year, Park Gyuyoung gave women a strong urge to get bob cuts. In "A Good Day to be a Dog," she radiated freshness with a bright-colored bob, while in "Celebrity," she boasted sophisticated beauty with a black bob. Park Gyuyoung's hairstyle choices were impeccable. Park Gyuyoung has an outstanding synchronization rate where seamlessly blends into each of her roles. Besides her contribution in the hairstyling, she has also had a hand in tailoring the overall ambiance and persona to all her characters.
The characters Park Gyuyoung approached with responsibility has elevated the quality of the dramas she has appeared in. While Park Gyuyoung shines in dramas, she particularly has a frequent association with Netflix. She was involved in all seasons from 1 to 3 of "Sweet Home." Especially with Park Gyuyoung being cast in "Squid Game" season 2, all eyes are on her anticipating what new transformations she will showcase.

This criticism actually makes a lot of sense. HoYeon Jung, Lee Yoo-mi and KIm Joo-Ryung played an important role in the first season. Without any women characters in the game, I probably won't be rooting for anyone to win. Men tend to be more selfish with money, while women tend to give more.
Lee Jung-jae spent an entire year being depressed and only decided to start giving his money after he finally conquered some of his demons.
I also think this is gonna have major lasting effects on Netflix. Many have been waiting on this and if the second season sucks, many will cancel their Netflix subscription.

My top 5 favourite Liu Kang Actors
5. Tom Choi
Tumblr media
I loved Tom Choi voice acting as Liu Kang in both Mortal Kombat 9 & X/XL. Tom is a Korean American actor like the Mortal Kombat 1 & 2 guy but instead he's a voice actor in the Mortal Kombat franchise. He acting in a few Disney shows and he is recently in Netflix popular Korean show Squid Games. I liked that it brought the Shaolin Monk feeling in Liu Kang and it's felt like the pride of a Shaolin warrior as Liu Kang is a Shaolin Monk like his cousin Kung Lao and Kung Lao nephew Kung Jin.
He first voiced Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat 9 which was brilliant and then he voiced Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat X/XL which was amazing. Tom is such a talented voice actor for Liu Kang and it would be amazing if he done Liu Kang once again.
4. Matthew Yang King
Tumblr media
I got to give respect though to this guy who voiced act as Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat 11. He was amazing had the same as Tom Choi. Even though I don't enjoy Mortal Kombat 11, his voice acting was good.
Spoiler Alert: Mattew Yang King is also voicing Netherealms new moblie game. I am saving storage for that lol.
3. Brian Tee
Tumblr media
I was surprised to notice that my favourite Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift Character was then Liu Kang. Honestly who can't dislike Brian Tee though so Talented. His first cameo was actually in Austin Powers in Goldmember. Yes you would see a very young Brian Tee in 2002 before 5 years on when you went to Tokyo Drift as the main villain called DK Takashi, who is part of the Yakuza with his Uncle who races against Sean for DK's girlfriend.
Brian Tee plays Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat Legacy the next Mortal Kombat series in the 2010s generation in Season 2. He's not like the other Liu Kang's nor Robin Shou's in the 1995 Mortal Kombat Movie, Brain wears a red shirt and leather Jacket, not quiet the Liu Kang we was expecting but I didn't mind as I love leather jackets hehe.
2. Robin Shou
Tumblr media
Out of the blooms. Such an excellent fighter. I thought he was amazing playing as Liu Kang. It's also surprised me that Robin is July same as me and his number birth is 4 days before mine lol, but he was born in the 60s, as I was in the 2000s. Even more though he is taller then me I am smaller then him.
Before Robin Shou became Liu Kang he started in Hong Kong learning Mix Martial Arts and training in China. But then he was called to try out some Hong Kong films. So he started out to do stunts even though he didn't know what stunt was back in the 80s. He then goes on to act in Hong Kong films like Tiger Cage 2 and In the line of Duty 3 with Donnie Yen and Big Brother, The., Death Cage, City War and many more He also made a Brief Appearance in Big Heat, The.
When he came back to America a friend of his who works with Warner Brothers asked him if he could join the cast for a new movie in 1995 called Mortal Kombat who was directed by Paul S.W Anderson who made the Resident Evil series Movies & 2022 Monster Hunter. He didn't know what Mortal Kombat was he only heard it from the Game Liu Kang who was in Hong Kong filming a movie with Jackie Chan.
Robin took the role of doing not just action but Chorography in the movie. I loved Robin Shou and even though the new movie came out, Robin was right he is the chosen one but he's the movie chosen one . I will always love the 1995 Movie one better
Ho Sung Pak
Tumblr media
I love him 100%. This guy is amazing Mix Martial Artist, so skilled. Ho Sung Pak was the first ever Liu Kang in both Mortal Kombat 1 and 2. Sung started doing Mix Martial Arts in around 80 or 81 with his brother Ho Young Pak. He stopped doing Mix Martial Arts tournaments to go on then to Film directing. Sung is also Korean American the same as Tom Choi.
Before Mortal Kombat Ho Sung was asked to play one of the thugs in the movie The Legend Of The Drunken Master (Drunken Master 2) as a character called Henry. I loved him in that whether he plays bad or good in movies he still amazing. Sung then came back to Chicago and his friend Daniel Pesina asked him if he could take part in the game Mortal Kombat and Daniel told him about it and he said "As long as we have fun I will do it".
Ho Sung came out in the first Mortal Kombat game in a Bruce Lee style black Kung Fu pants (Trousers), White Sneakers (Trainers) and he had short hair. He already had the short hair from Dunken Master 2 with a suite he has two different suits one suite that is blue blazer and trousers with a pinkie purple tie I don't know lol and another one with black blazer and trousers and black tie.
Honestly Ho Sung Pak is my most favourite Liu Kang in games and I always say even though there has been some good Liu Kang actors for the game no one could beat Ho Sung Pak he is the games Chosen one.
Fun Fact: Both Ho Sung Pak and Robin Shou met in Hong Kong. So when ever you hear Robin Shou saying he knows the original Liu Kang, he knows Ho Sung Pak from Hong Kong.

Netflix geeks listen up!
I have never before been so hyped for so many new things on Netflix, but Geeked Week blew me away! Here are some of the announcements that I will definitely be watching:
Castlevania Nocturne Season 2! After that cliffhanger, I’m excited to see Alucard join the fight with Ricter Belmont by his side!
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep! The OG voice of the White Wolf is back! And did they say merpeople are gonna be involved? I’m down with it!
Arcane Season 2! Again another cliffhanger that I am excited to see the aftermath of, and that clip of Vi’s emo fighter era! She looks great at the cost of emotional turmoil… November can’t come soon enough because all the Arcane fans are about to paint the town blue! Sound off in the reposts and comments, Team Vi or Team Jinx?
The Tomb Raider show! From the trailer, it looks action packed true to the spirit of the games. Haley Atwell is gonna be a great Lara Croft…
The Devil May Cry show! I love the games and the trailer looks so SSStylish! And is that Johnny Yong Bosch as the voice of Dante?! First he voiced Nero in the games, and now the main man himself! We just hit the jackpot! This show is gonna rock!
Avatar the Last Airbender Season 2! It’s started production and we have our Toph Beifong! I can’t wait to see the Gaang in the Earth Kingdom!
The Splinter Cell show! I may know nothing of the original games, but from the responses from the fans, I can tell this show’s gonna be great! I might check the games out to prepare from the awesomeness that is Sam Fisher… Also he’s being voiced by X-Men Origins’ Sabertooth? LFG!
One Piece Season 2! We have our Nico Robin, Crocodile and a look at what Chopper’s gonna look like! Hopefully Brina Palencia will reprise her role as the adorable Straw Hat medic… and I have to say, Joe Manganiello as Mr 0? It’s bound to be a hell of a ride for the Straw Hats, because I think we have all our Baroque Works members casted! The Nakama are ready, are you?
The new season of Black Mirror! The show at its roots is British, as the creator said, so as a Brit myself, I’m excited to see the worlds presented from the darkness of a Black Mirror… and the cast is packed!
The Sandman Season 2! We have the entire family casted and they showed us a peek behind the scenes and everything looks so cool! It’s a dream come true for the comic geek in me!
Cobra Kai’s final season! The Sekai Taikai is about get intense and so much butt is gonna be kicked! Strike hard, strike first, no mercy!
Sakamoto Days! I’ve heard a lot of good things about the manga on social media, so I hope that the anime does it justice…
Cyberpunk?! After Edgerunners, I can’t wait to return to Night City with my chooms!
Wednesday Season 2! That cliffhanger! I can’t wait to return to Nevermore and see the fan fave Addams kid in action!
Squid Game Season 2! The games are about get even more dangerous, and Gi-Hun is back in the game! I guess it’s true, the game never stops…
