Japanese Toilet Season 26 Episode 3 Thoughts
**SPOLIERS**
**ALSO RANT AT THE END**
-First off, I still don't think this episode was as good as Cupid Ye and I don't think it was as good as the Worldwide Privacy tour either. I guess it doesn't really matter what episodes is better than the other one, just so long as every episode has something funny, special or unique about it but I just like the other two episodes better.
-I don't really know what I was expecting from a Randy episode. Just like a lot of people, I don't really like Randy episodes. I did laugh when they kept playing him getting shot though. Also not him poor shaming everyone.
-I liked the Stan though. I had been wishing for a Stan episode and I guess I sort of got one. I know it could've been better but it was still Stan and I love him so I was happy.
-I was also happy to see Sharon again. She's my favorite SP mom.
-I honestly thought this was going to be a Stolkien episode and I was kind of disappointed when I found out it wasn't. When people kept calling Stan Richie Rich I thought Token would talk about how he felt when people made fun of him being rich in "Here Comes The Neighborhood" and then they would bond. Is it just me?
-I don't really like Jimmy so I wasn't really that hyped about him being in the episode. I don't hate him, I just don't really get him I guess. As a cat lover, I was sad when he said the toilet company took his cat. We cannot stand for that.
-I did enjoy seeing Douglas with Cartman though when Stan first got to school. He's one of my favorite backgrounds characters, I just really like his design and think he's really cool.
Tumblr media
-One last thing-
TELL ME WHY WE GOT TO SEE MR. AND MRS. TWEAK AND THEY GOT TO TALK BUT TWEEK DIDN'T. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?
Tumblr media
WHAT IS THIS?? LIKE I LOVE MRS. TWEEK AND EVERYTHING BUT RICHARD... RICHARD TWEAK. I HATE HIM. EW, GROSS, UGH, I DON'T EVERY WANT TO SEE OR HEAR HIM EVER AGAIN. (at least he didn't say any metaphor things this time)
ANYWAY WHEN AM I GOING TO SEE TWEEK AGIN??? HE WASN'T IN THE LAST EPISODE. HE WASN'T IN THIS EPISODE. I ONLY GOT TO SEE HIM FOR THREE SECONDS IN THE FIRST EPISODE. I'VE SEEN AND HEARD STAN, CARTMAN, KYLE, KENNY, TOKEN, JIMMY, CRAIG, CLYDE, SCOTT FREAKING MALKINSON, RANDY, CUPID ME, ALL THOSE ASSHOLES AND YET I'VE BARELY SEEN TWEEK AND HE HASN'T EVEN SPOKEN. WHY??? I SWEAR SOMEONE IS DOING THIS ON PURPOSE TO MAKE ALL THE TWEEK FANS MISERABLE.
Sorry for the rant but I love Tweek and I need a Tweek episode. It doesn't even have to be Creek, I don't care about Creek, I care about Tweek. I mean it would probably end up being a Creek episode because they're a thing but it doesn't have to be. Even if Tweek got a speaking role I would be happy.
I know we're only three episodes in and I don't know how many episodes the season is going to be but it's just the fact that his parents got to talk and he didn't. It's not fair. I will literally cry if I don't see Tweek this season. I need my baby to come back.
Tumblr media
Everyone better be manifesting a Tweek episode this season.

Do you like Stoken/Stolkien? If so, can have headcanons for them please?? ❤️❤️
OOOOOOO OKAY
So this isn't a main ship of mine, but I actually do really like it. Especially in the context of last nights episode. Although we don't see Tolkien in it- the whole context with the farms and exploring Stan and wealth has me thinking about them.
I understand that this may not be the popular interpretation of the pairing since Stan is down to earth, but i'm inclined to write/feel what I know soooooo let's go.
They could so work with the despondent wealthy youths spending money on fast cars just to feel something trope. I think Tolkien would handle it better, but take Stans dysfunctional upbringing/new found wealth/proximity to Tolkien. Do you know the song Super Rich Kids by Frank Ocean? Yeah.
Thinking about them as late teens/young adults exploring that strange distance where they relate to their peers, and are still down to earth, but also have many new privileges that wealth provides.
At some point they're going to enjoy it and let fucking LOOSE. Because maybe the stress at home is too much, and maybe their friends are being shitty, and it's really easy to blow off steam when you have a little extra cash. I like the idea of them getting lost in a wild youth, and maybe experiencing things together that feel disconnected from reality because they can AFFORD to disconnect from reality.
Of course in this- theres kindness and gentleness. These are good kids. So maybe it gets taxing, and although the sex and glamour of exploring new freedoms is fun, sometimes all they want is the simplicity of a trip to Starks Pond, or a night camping in the woods, sleeping in the bed of Randy's old farm truck. They can vent about expectations, and how much they want to live for themselves, not what their family expects. I see them really enjoying the outdoors, quality time over anything else, and a really stable romance.
Also MUSIC! They would 100% both be into making each other playlists of whatever they're feeling. I think they are both okay with words, but music translates better. They're in Tolkien's room with a vinyl on, just talking until 2am because they feel so comfortable with each other- and the silence with just a song in the background, and Tolkien playing with Stans hair is just as comfortable.

it's like this: if Sleep Token wanted everyone to associate their names with their music, they would have their names in their social media bios. they would promote their music in interviews. they would have their names on physical releases. they would discourage fans from going out of their way to have instances of their names removed from the internet. you just CAN'T pretend that their mysterious identities aren't a popular joke, with vocalists from other bands joking that they are Vessel.
ST may not be explicit about their wishes, whether they just don't want to be famous when unmasked, don't want themselves or everyone who knows them stalked by invasive fans, whether they feel that their music loses its power if names and faces are put behind it, but that doesn't mean they don't have good reasons for the masks and alter egos. their own desires aside, if you want to engage with ST fandom, you HAVE to accept that most fans don't actually want to know their names or faces. if you really don't give a fuck about what they band may or may not want, just make a post saying "I know all their names, dm me if you want to know too" or "click the readmore to see all their names", don't make a public post revealing it for all to see. and don't go crying about it when other fans in the community you CHOSE to engage with inevitably get angry at you for forcing them to learn names they NEVER wanted to see. fandom is supposed to be fun and you killed people's fun. it's not hard to understand.

Conductor and composer Pierre Boulez was one of the most articulate members of the French postwar musical avant-garde, but now many music lovers believe  his compositions are sonic sewage. Boulez played a role in driving contemporary  music into a cul-de-sac.
- Frederick Stocken
Pierre Boulez’s musical avant-garde radicalism was part of how he rose in the public consciousness in the first place. But only a part. Boulez was a figure who believed, passionately, outspokenly and uncompromisingly, in the relevance of art to today’s world. In doing so he was controversial, sometimes confrontational and he divided opinion – but the trade-off was that he, and his work, resonated far beyond that of most composers and conductors. And while recalling the more controversial of his comments, it’s also important to remember that many would first have had their ears opened to classical music through his teaching (itself unorthodox – such as his so-called Rug Concerts in New York), the institutions and ensembles he founded (IRCAM, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Cité de la Musique), or the clarity and advocacy brought by his recordings of 20th-century repertoire. This, music-making, was above all his life’s work and his legacy.
There are few classical music figures who do have that wider resonance. A quick mention of some who undoubtedly do – Daniel Barenboim, Sir Simon Rattle – makes it clear that you don’t have to be an avant-garde radical or set on shaking the establishment to be among their number. But what unites them all is that they are all uncompromising in their art: it is integrity, as much as personality, that counts – the belief that music, or all art, is part of how people understand and engage with (and challenge) the world around them and within themselves.

Mina and Jonathon had an amazing relationship where they were the best of friends and trusted each other and stood on (more or less) equal terms with each other, where Mina even occasionally took the "masculine" role when it was needed, and then Jonathon joined the "boys' club" and excluded Mina, making decisions based not on her capabilities but her sex, a decision all of them made and Mina agreed to (because just because Mina was always a badass didn't mean she hadn't internalised the patriarchy) because they thought it was best, and it nearly destroyed Mina and Jonathon and both of them were miserable suddenly living separate lives in separate, gendered spheres, and the lowest point of the narrative came about because of this choice, and our heroes only managed to get back on track toward victory when they were forced to confront the error of that decision.
Just...that is bonkers. Bram Stoken do you know how bonkers you are?

In dc au i kinda gave the black arms a new ability to mind control people and add them to the hive-mind as workers bent on serving Black Doom, kind like Starro from the comics
So when they invade earth, Black doom appears offers to help Shadow take over the world and Shadow’s like ‘neat’
Sonic tags along for the ride but Black Doom assimilates him into the hive-mind with mind control stuff without Shadow knowing, Shadow was doing something else at the time (looking for that damn fourth chaos emerald) and when he meets back up with Sonic he’s acting a lil… off
At this point Shadow would’ve been rethinking him and Black Doom’s partnership, so Doom would target Sonic so he could keep an eye on Shadow more discreetly, while also being someone that Shadow is more likely to give info to rather than a doom eye, then when Shadow is pretty much definitely gonna betray Doom, Sonic tries to steal the emeralds Shadow has from him
I just have this mental image if Sonic and Shadow leaving a room, Sonic behind Shadow just intensely staring at Shadow’s quills where he put the emeralds
Sonic is keeping up conversation while reaching for it but then Shadow without turning around grabs his arm
The whole hive-mind thing is unknown to Shadow, he just thinks that Sonic just wanted to grab the emeralds for Eggman, but if that was the case he would’ve stoken them himself and he wouldn’t have waited ages either, he’s getting red flags so Shadow restrains Sonic quickly with vines and locks him in the GUN vault, not before stealing his phone
So he's running through the base while going on Sonic's phone to see if this was part of a plot or something but then he sees just how many missed calls from the Doctor there were, there were over 50, there was no way Sonic missed them
So he calls Eggy and the guy is raging, ranting about how he'd been calling Sonic all day since the hedgehog had hung up on him earlier
That’s when he realises something is very, very wrong
Throughout this arc it becomes apparent just how many people are under black doom’s control, that there’s no one who Shadow can trust, but later when there’s a confrontation about it Black Doom points out that Shadow himself had done the whole mind control thingy using his pheromones in order to have free minions
"And who are you to judge me? You too have made use of my methods, using your plant pheromones to give yourself some extra canon fodder, i do the same, coincidences are funny are they not? Besides you and i both know they are only meat at the end of the day, we are simply putting them to more constructive use."
He placed a hand on Sonic's head, "and they have the honour of being part of the hive, and they serve their purpose to benefit us, and they are happy to do so, for they are free of all the sorrow, the pain, the anner and they are no longer alone, they are at peace. A productive existence, a better existence, would you not say?"
And Shadow… he can’t say that he’s wrong or else he’s a hypocrite
Then when Doom sicks Sonic on him it’s even more disturbing for Shadow to see Sonic like this, the blue hedgehog being oddly calm and ease during the fight, with a serene smile on his face, saying stuff like: "Join us Shadow, it's so nice and welcoming, you won't ever have to feel the pain again. Lord Doom will heal you of it, like he healed me :)"
Just creepy shit like that, it’s only offset by the many breaks in the mind control as it showcases how much effort black doom has to put in to keep someone like Sonic on leash
Shadow has to put Sonic under his control and try to override Doom's control, but he doesn't have to do much to help Sonic's will fight back
Like 2 mental nudges and then it breaks
Then Sonic is hit by the quiet, the quiet of being alone in his own head
After that whole debacle, Shadow fully connects to the green and murders Black Doom, gaining a third eye in the process

Small Mercies, Grafton
Drink pictured: Flat white (made with an alternative milk sourced from peas!) and hot chocolate.
Food pictured: Kkwabaegi (Korean twisted doughnut).
I'd seen this colourful little shop in Grafton on my way to work, and was stoken to find out that it was going to be another place with coffee! Went there over the weekend. For my flat white, I had it with the No Ordinary plant milk (which I'd never had before) and it was really yummy. They use beans from Red Rabbit Coffee Co. and also do Korean doughnuts! It is a very small place with 4 seats inside and 4 outside, and I really love that their decor is so colourful!

S1E4 & S1E5 - Aliens of London & World War 3
Tumblr media
★★★☆☆
I don’t hate this two-parter but it doesn’t really hold up on re-watching this. For some reason, I remember it being a lot funnier, but the (fart) jokes don’t land quite the same way decades on.
The aliens du jour are the flatulent Slitheen from Raxacoricofallapatorius and they are comical. Badly. The premise that they have infiltrated the upper echelons of British governance in a long con only for Ricky Mickey the Idiot to gain access to the UK naval missile codes and eviscerate them just doesn’t hold water. It’s too deus ex machina for my liking and it doesn’t give that meaningful resolution when the Doctor and co triumph again.
But again there’s more beyond this than fat jokes and mutant pigs that shouldn’t be overlooked. Aliens are now a reality in 2006. Fear is being stoken within the populace to justify extreme measures. Fake news, misinformation and conspiracy theories are thriving (sounding uncomfortably familiar in 2023?).
And from Rose’s perspective, 12 months have passed by in a mere day. Time travel has consequences and a ripple effect on everyone else. Rose is unperturbed by the grief an dismay caused to her mum and Mickey, even a little too callous about it. Travelling with the Doctor is beginning to rub off on her and her perspective has changed. I don’t blame her.
QUOTE: “My mum’s cooking.” “Good. Put her on a low heat and let her simmer.”

Even over klimaat zeuren
