So, you really are doubling down on this ASP thing aren't you, Boston Dumb Fuck (some final thoughts for a shameful day; for you, in case you are that oblivious now that you have capitulated to the dark side).
(Oh, and for any of his minions out there trolling, I fully entreat you to bubble this up to your stubborn, anxious overlord because he could do some real damage to the world, not just himself)
The negative, and 100 percent correct, comments for the Antisemitism in Schools discussion wasn't enough for you? Try to bury it all you want- the internet (and screenshots) are forever and people know. Not even when Secretary Cardona lamented the normalization of hating Jews, while you were awkwardly flaunting your poison band, tying you to the Nazi wifey, thus making you a perpetrator of this very normalization, did you not get the hint you are not welcomed in this space?
You know you can't have it both ways, right? You can't be the Political Avenger and also be "married" to a racist, antisemetic, fat-shaming, arrogant, selfish xenophob. Your balls aren't nearly strong enough to stratle that fence! Is this so much of a vanity project you are willing to forgo your "egoic narrative", wasting important people's precious time, who are trying to keep the ship we call democracy from sinking, while you look for a pat on the back for rearranging the deck chairs. You know, for someone who is very conscious of odors, you reek of rich white male Privlege. I can smell it through the Bluetooth connection and God does it stink! Didn't know being tone deaf also made you nose blind 🤷‍♀️.
Are you really going to tackle the big problems that young voters care, or should care, about head on? Are young voters even going to pay attention to what you have to offer? And who are you going to get to speak to your baby website, run by dilatants and clout chasers? I am sure you could get some blowhards like Rafael "Ted" Cruz, Matt "the Frat" Gaetz, and your old friend "Uncle" Tim Scott, but anyone with anything worth speaking to is not going to want to degrade themselves for liars like you. By the way, you may want to get used to the feeling, BDF, because if you don't make some MAJOR changes to your life soon, I sense this is how your dating life will be, too, once the divorce is finalized.
I hope your mama is still proud, because most everyone else is ashamed or embarrassed for you. You don't need to use the website as your personal barometer to tell you that.
PS- Don't make some corny joke tomorrow with the high schoolers about you being old. This isn't about you, and they weren't the ones who decided to "marry" someone 16 years their junior, who looks 26 years their junior and is sucking the life and soul out of you, making you look like you have aged about 10 years since the two kinda, sorta ceremonies. People Magazine's Most Pathetic Man of the Year! Yes, teach the young people how to make good decisions for their future, jackass!

some midge/susie thoughts (and a few other things!) on the final episode:
that scene in the restaurant was just gorgeous, god damn. susie explaining her past with hedy, so poignant and beautifully acted (DAMN, we are losing one of the great tv performances with alex borstein as susie!) and even though it was just one monologue it painted such a rich picture that it told you all you needed to know.
and midge being like “i know exactly what she saw in you” and then saying she thinks susie will fall in love again and susie asking her “were you ever a blonde”??? like, the underlying vibe of susie being like “i’m in love with you and it’s dumb and i’m dumb and it will never go anywhere and i’m resigned to that, i’ve always been resigned to that, i can’t believe i fell for another impossible rich girl” but midge being like “uh actually maybe it’s not so dumb because i completely adore you and you’re my #1 life partner and the only one who truly understands this fire of ambition that drives me at my core* because you feel that way too” felt so tantalizingly just around the corner. it felt just like how i always imagined romantic feelings between them would bloom if they ever did, so it was surreal and dreamy to feel like i was watching a tiny bit of that unfold onscreen before my eyes.
(* i mean, lenny also understands it, but he was like her handsome man comic fairy godmother more than ever destined to be an everyday presence in her life.)
and midge saying in her standup that she doesn’t think she’s gonna have a permanent life partner-y relationship with a man anymore? and then she doesn’t? HELLOOOOOOO!
that shot of susie putting her hand to her heart and her and midge gazing at each other after midge’s standup ............ gorgeous!! gorgeous!!!!!
them as old ladies calling each other to watch jeopardy on vhs together and press play at the exact same time! midge being all fancy and susie being a bird hippie! midge sending susie a bird! susie naming the bird “whore”! making each other laugh so, so much, calling back to midge wanting to marry someone who makes her laugh!!!!! bro, i can’t believe i just watched midge and susie do grace and frankie romance.
45 YEARS TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this just felt very “if i want to make this romantic then i can because it’s all there” and i’m so pleased and pleasantly surprised. i think they really (deliberately?) leaned into the subtext in these last episodes to very wonderful and rich effect.
also, this episode was just so, so charming and fun! i was surprised that we didn’t get more flashforwards with all the other characters, but actually i like the idea of just having those moments as sort of snapshots of future life rather than definitively told stories. and all the supporting characters really got moments to shine and it was delightful and warm. (and imogene was there! in her black beret! imogene!)
also, moishe and shirley in the shower, lololololololol!!! that was incredible. i wish that would happen to all my otps who need some epiphany time.
and abe and rose trying to summon the cab was a beautifully choreographed exercise in silliness that really just felt so ASP in the best way.
joel was very, very sweet in this episode. good on you, joel!
i am sad that we didn’t get to see midge & susie’s makeup scene from the 90s!!! but also: how fun to imagine in fanfic. in my fanfic they kiss and no one can stop me.
no other show will ever play this much barbra streisand in the soundtrack and that makes me sad. :’( every single time i heard her wonderful voice bless a montage on this show my heart soared.
i loved this season and I LOVE THIS SHOW! what a great show to have five seasons of to rewatch forever, knowing that midge and susie will be together for the rest of their lives (w/ one tragic five year blip) living complicatedly & soulmates-ily ever after! beautiful work, palladinos! thank you and goodnight!

Tumblr media
Pairing: Natasha ‘Phoenix’ Trace X Fem!Reader (Callsign Reaper)
Summary: Phoenix and you have a conversation about what the future holds for you and your relationship post-uranium mission
Warnings: some minor swearing, pure fluff, girls being gay for each other, maybe a tiny bit of angst (reference to the bird strike, but idk man), are typos a warning? Any way, there might be a few…
Word Count: 5.3k
A/N: What’s up you guys? This is my first ever fic for TGM, and on this site, written especially for @roosterforme ‘s #love is in the air tgm event. I told myself that this year I would “publish” one of my not-so little blurbs on here and I guess today is that day lol :) Title is from Dandelions by Ruth B.
———
The mission had ended; pilots were slowly leaving North Island and heading back to their home bases, with most still close at Lemoore, only about 5 hours away. You, Rooster and his girlfriend, Asp, Asp’s WSO Tweety, Bob, and Phoenix were the only ones left, each sitting in your own little pairs just chatting about everything and nothing all at once.
You had gotten up a few minutes earlier and were standing outside on the fire escape, leaning on the railing, staring out at the planes on the tarmac. The oversized white and grey button up you had thrown on over your tank top fluttered in the faint breeze and you breathed a sigh, not ready to leave the little bubble you’d created. “Hiding on me?” Phoenix asked, coming out onto the fire escape behind you.
“Hmm?” you hummed, turning back to look at Natasha, who’d hugged you from behind. “Nah, I wouldn’t dare.”
“Glad to hear it,” Phoenix replied, pressing a light kiss to your cheek. “Whatcha thinking about?”
You leaned into the gentle peck, humming contentedly. “Just how different everything’s going to be after we leave. We’ve been living in each other’s pockets for the last month or so, so it’s going to be an adjustment,” you said, turning around to face the woman behind you. “It’s a little frightening.”
Phoenix just smiled gently, her eyes raking over your face, noting the slight furrow between your brows. “Hey, we’ll figure it out,” she replied. “It’s us. If there’s anyone who can manage this, it’s us. And Asp and Bradley,” Natasha added quickly. “I swear that they are the most perfect couple.”
“Yep, I hope we get whatever magical blessing they got when they finally got together,” you laughed, a wide grin spreading over your face as you leaned back into the railing, watching Phoenix step closer. “And yeah, we’ll make it work.”
The taller woman just smiled, leaning in and kissing you gently, pulling back a few seconds later. “That we will.”
“What was that for?” you asked, looking slightly confused, but a grin split your face in two watching Natasha. “I didn’t do anything.”
“Because I get to do that now,” Natasha said, a faint pink tinge to her face. “God, I will never get tired of doing that.”
You had been pulled into her arms and ducked your head, trying to hide. “Stop it,” you mumbled, embarrassment riddling your voice.
“I’m serious,” Phoenix replied, lifting your chin and turning her face to yours. “I waited too long for something like this, I am going to make sure that I get to keep it in my life.”
“Wow.” You had a deadpan expression on your face. “Did you steal that from a Hallmark movie, cause holy shit, that was cheesy.” You were trying and failing to hide your smile, eventually giving up and pressing your own kiss to Natasha’s lips, pulling back moments later.
“Ehh.” Phoenix just waved you off, holding you close. “You bring out the goofball in me, what can I say?”
From where your head rested on Phoenix’s shoulder, you hummed happily, looking out at the tarmac again. “What’s going to happen to us?” you asked five minutes later, pulling back from the embrace just a little.
“Why do you ask?”
“Because you’re going back to Lemoore, and I’m headed for Jacksonville. The Ghosts are headquartered there, but I can’t help but wonder, what would happen if I just didn’t go back?” You replied, not looking at the other woman, seeming very nervous all of a sudden.
Cautiously, Phoenix asked “What do you mean ‘if you didn’t go back?’ Why wouldn’t you?”
“Because I was offered a position alongside Mav. Here at Top Gun. As a teacher.”
“Are you going to take it?”
You took a deep breath, before turning and facing Natasha. “I don’t know, maybe? Lately, I’ve been thinking about it a lot. Leaving the Ghosts, I mean,” you said in a rush of air.
“Can I ask why? Or do you not know?” Phoenix asked gently. Her heart was pounding in her chest at the thought of you leaving your post as a Ghost pilot for some inane reason.
“Because before, I didn’t have someone waiting for me on the tarmac. No one to ground me in one place at the end of the day. I always had Asp and Tweety in the air with me, they flew with me. But now, I have you waiting on me to come home,” you replied, running a hand through your hair. “I know it sounds stupid, me being willing to tie myself to a place, to a person without even knowing if it’s going to work out.”
Phoenix looked stunned. “I can’t ask that of you,” she finally stammered out, brows furrowed in thought. “I can’t ask you to do that. I won’t. I know how much you love flying with Asp and Tweety.”
“Asp’s leaving too. Coming here to California with Rooster so she can test out the newer and faster planes the Navy is developing,” you said softly. “I don’t have the patience to train a new wingman for myself, besides, if the Navy really needs me to fly for them in an official capacity rather than just as an instructor, all they have to do is ask.”
Natasha was quiet, but her mind was loud, echoing with your words, “I have you waiting on me to come home,” bouncing around like ping pong balls.
“You weren’t asking me, Nat. I made this decision on my own,” you reassured her, stepping closer. “Believe me, there is not a person alive who could ever make me do something I didn’t want to do. You and I both know that.” A soft smile reappeared on your face, reaching out for the other woman’s hand.
“But still…” Phoenix trailed off, glancing at your joined hands. “This is… this is a lot to take in.”
“I know,” you said softly, running your thumb over Natasha’s knuckles. “It’s a lot to hear all at once.”
“Yeah…”
You two fell into a prolonged silence, neither of you sure of what to say. “I’m sorry I dropped this on you,” you finally told her. “That wasn’t fair of me to do that.”
“No. Stop. Yeah, it is a lot, but I think I’m just surprised, that's all.” Phoenix shook her head, dismissing your attempt at an apology. “How long have you known about the offer?”
“Not long. I was asked a few days after Mav tried to step down, despite my blatant disregard of a direct order and punching another service member in the face while deployed,” you answered, biting your lip. “It could be fun. A lot of ego breaking, that’s for sure.”
“And you are already very good at that,” Phoenix quipped, making you throw your head back and laugh loudly. “You had Hangman cut off at the knees when I met you at the bar. Did a lot of damage that he was not coming back from.”
You laughed, the grin slowly coming back to your face. “And yet, I think somehow I didn’t break him enough. You heard him.” A flicker of a glare appeared in your eyes.
Natasha just tsked, pulling you towards her. “Hey. You put him back in his place. Kinda. I think,” she hummed, wrapping her arms around you. “It was kinda hot.”
“Oh come on,” you scoffed. “No it totally wasn’t, there was no way that that whole disaster was even remotely hot.” You turned to look at a blushing Natasha in disbelief.
“It was. The way you fly, the way you handle yourself, both in the air and on the ground, the way you defend your friends, all of that is insanely hot to watch.” Phoenix was bright red at this point, but managed to look you in the eyes, smiling a little as you took in her words.
A shake of the head and you were reaching up and pulling Phoenix down into a deep kiss that left you both breathless when you pulled back. “You little…” you shook your head, laughing a little. “It’s almost like you were watching me.”
“Mmm, almost. But I will have you know that I couldn’t help it, sweets. You just have this magnetism around you that makes it hard to look away.”
Your face went bright pink in a few seconds as Natasha’s words registered. “I…what do I even say to that?” You mumbled, your cheeks warm. “You should probably know that when you first walked into the bar, I panicked. Like I had a big, over the top bi panic that caught me really off guard.”
“Wait, really? And here I thought you didn’t like me when we first met,” Natasha replied. “You went all stone faced, like completely shut down.”
“Because I didn’t want anyone else to see what was really going on. Didn’t stop Asp or Rooster from picking up on it almost immediately though,” you laughed, poking Phoenix in the shoulder.
“I knew that Rooster knew something!” Phoenix cried out. “He teased me relentlessly!”
You gave her a soft smile. “They both knew, and they both teased us, and yet we were still too dense to do anything about it,” you mumbled. “But hey, we did figure it out.”
“Mhm, that we did. But it took us awhile,” Natasha mused.
“Sorry.”
Phoenix kissed your forehead, keeping you held close. “You have nothing to apologise for,” she murmured against your head. “That whole day was a clusterfuck and a half.”
A wet laugh snuck its way out of your chest, somehow you had started crying without noticing. “It really was.” You still jolted awake at night, fear of waking up without Natasha in your life punching through you with every strangled breath. You had been in the air with her and Bob when the bird strike hit, unable to do anything but watch helplessly as they punched out so close, oh so very close to the ground.
Brushing away the few tears that managed to spill over, Phoenix kissed you gently, pouring all the love she could into the gesture. “I’m here sweets. I’m safe. I’m not going anywhere,” she murmured against your forehead as she pulled you close to her chest, holding you tightly.
“I know,” you whispered. “I know. I’m okay, Nat. Just got a little caught up again, that’s all.” Tilting your head up, you caught her lips for a soft kiss, trying to tell her everything you couldn’t put into words.
Natasha was the one who pulled back first, leaning her forehead against yours. “I’m not going anywhere, sweets. I promise.” A few moments passed before she asked “So, what does moving to North Island look like?”
Swiping your hand over your cheeks, you hummed in thought. “Well, Asp and I would have to go back and help train our replacements, pack up the apartment and such, put in for the transfer and hope it gets approved, and yada yada yada.”
“So it could be a while, is what you’re saying right now,” Natasha replied.
“Yeah, a couple of months, at least,” you told her. “It’s going to be hard on us both.”
“It will. But we can figure it out, okay?” Phoenix pulled back from the hug and tilted your chin up, gently forcing you to make eye contact. “We can do this.”
“I know,” you replied, smiling gently. “We both want this, we’ll make it work for us.”
Phoenix merely nodded, pulling you closer into her, and you two stood there, wrapped in each other’s arms, savouring the quiet. “You know I love you right?” Natasha asked, breaking the silence that surrounded you both.
You froze, risking a glance up at the other woman. “You mean that?” You asked, scarcely believing what you’d just heard. “Because you don’t have to say it if you aren’t ready.”
“I don’t think I fully realised it until a few moments ago, but I do love you. I really do,” Natasha explained. “It took me until now to realise that the reason I was so scared when you took off to save Mav and Rooster was because I didn’t know if I could live without you.”
You just chuckled lightly, grabbing Natasha’s face in your hands, cradling it. “I realised it after I watched you and Bob go down. The same feeling of “I can’t live without her” hit me like a stack of bricks.”
“Seriously?!”
“Yep.”
“Jesus Christ, come here.” Phoenix grabbed your face, pulling you into a searing kiss. You melted into it, so happy that this was actually happening, letting Phoenix take control.
You two only separated when air became necessary, but even then, you rested your foreheads together, not wanting to go too far from the other.
“We should go inside,” you murmured.
“Do we have to?” Came the whispered reply.
“Food would be a good idea,” you answered in an almost mirror of their first real conversation that had happened only a few weeks back. And you realised that, both of you laughing at how similar the moment was.
It was Natasha who tugged you off the fire escape and back inside, interlacing your fingers before you headed back to the green room, to your friends.
———
Asp was the first to notice you and Phoenix walking back into the room. “There you are! I was beginning to think that we’d have to send out a search party!” She crowed, noticing the pink flush to her best friend’s face. “I guess I was wrong.”
“Shut it,” you replied, but there was no heat to it.
Phoenix had sat down next to Rooster, tugging you down and onto her lap, grinning at the whoops and hollers from the other pilots while also smiling at her girlfriend’s bright blush. “Oh come on, sweets. From what I hear, this is karma,” she mumbled in your ear.
You didn’t say anything, but you blush spread to the tips of your ears. You could hear the smirk in Natasha’s voice and you curled into yourself, ignoring the shiver that had gone racing down your spine.
“We got the girlfriend to gang up on her!” Tweety teased, watching your face somehow get even redder.
“That’s it. I’m leaving and never coming back,” you said, trying to regain your composure. “Enjoy your lives, I’m leaving.” But they could all tell you were teasing by the wide smile on your face.
“Nope.” Phoenix tightened her grip around your waist, pulling you closer. “You aren’t going anywhere.”
“Oh really?” Came the reply. You turned around, grinning at Natasha, wrapping your arms around her neck before gently capturing the other woman’s lips with yours. Phoenix melted into the gentle kiss, her arms loosening and moving up your back, giving you the perfect opportunity to slip off of her lap, pulling back with a smirk. “You were saying?” You stood over the couch, arms folded with your eyes bright with triumph.
Rooster burst out laughing at the shocked expression on Phoenix’s face. He fell into Asp’s shoulder, the room now exploding with laughter at what they had just witnessed.
“You okay there, Nat?” Bob teased, catching his breath just long enough to speak. “Cause it looks like Reaper just took a few brain cells with that move.”
“Okay, okay fine. Whatever,” Phoenix grumbled, hating how easily you had escaped. “Get back over here.”
“Aww hon, you know I very rarely do what I’m told,” you mused aloud, your smirk still very much in place. “You should know better.”
Asp hiccuped, she was still laughing so hard. Tears fell from her eyes, made only worse by her best friend’s teasing line. “She…she’s…she’s got you there!” She managed to say before another wave of giggles pulled her under.
“Hey Chicken, you might want to check that your fiancée is still breathing,” you said, your own chuckles beginning to appear.
The man just nodded, wrapping Asp up in a hug and pulling her onto his lap. The blonde gave one last wheeze before taking a deep breath and exhaling hard. “I’m okay,” she said, smiling widely.
You just grinned, sitting back down on the couch, pulling Phoenix towards you. You smiled as the other woman leaned into your side, and she pressed a light kiss to the top of your head. “Hey.”
“Hi,” Phoenix mumbled back.
The group fell silent, just enjoying the company of the others. “So, Reaps. Did you tell her?” Asp asked.
“I did.”
“And?” The blonde was curious, wanting to hear how Phoenix had taken the news.
You hummed lightly, trying to think about how to explain. You opened her mouth, but were cut off by Phoenix answering for you. “I’m happy for her,” the taller woman spoke. “I’ll support whatever choice she makes. That’s all I can do. Because clearly, I can’t tell sweets here what to do.”
Tweety nodded, smiling at the pair of you cuddled up together. “Glad to hear it,” he said. “I’m happy for you both.”
“Maybe you haven’t told her to do the right things,” Asp quipped, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “You know what I mean, don’t you?”
“Asp no,” you replied. Your eyes were wide in a combination of shock and if anyone looked way past that, they’d find laughter. “Jesus Christ, no.”
Phoenix just laughed, looking at the blonde perched on Rooster’s lap and winked. “Maybe she’s right, sweets. I haven’t tried that yet.”
You just crossed your arms, an eyebrow raised. “Do your worst, hon. I’m more stubborn than I look.”
The look on Natasha’s face was equal to one of being handed a challenge and she accepted it. “Oh, don’t worry. I will.” She shot you a wink, chuckling as you rolled her eyes, but the look you gave her was fond.
“Okay, okay. Enough of that, you’re making me feel really lonely,” Bob spoke up from his place on the opposite couch. “Tweety and I are like fifth and sixth wheeling right now, and it’s kinda painful.”
“Sorry,” the two couples said, some looking apologetic while others very much didn’t.
“We’ll knock it off,” you added. “Won’t we?” You looked over at her friends and they groaned.
“Fiiiinne,” Asp groaned. She cuddled closer to Rooster, who pressed a kiss to her forehead, humming his own agreement. “But the second I make the move here, I’m finding people to set you up with.”
“Please. No,” Bob told her. “I’m okay with being single. Don’t look at me like that,” he added when every head in the room swivelled to him. He sighed, “Seriously. I’m okay with it.”
Phoenix just shrugged. “It’s your life,” she said. “But keep in mind, I think both Reaps and I said that at some point. Now look at us.”
“Leave him alone,” you spoke up. “Let Bob do whatever it is that he does, and if he’s not looking, then he’s not looking.” The other pilots in the room looked at you in disbelief, “What? I’ve been in his position before, I hated getting constantly set up.”
“You never told me that,” Asp said, her eyebrows furrowed in thought. “How did I not know that?”
“Didn’t think it needed to be said,” you replied with a shrug. “And besides, I figured out what I wanted in the end, didn’t I?”
“Yeah you did,” Phoenix joked, nudging you.
Across from you, Tweety gagged. “You guys are gross,” he said, laughing a little.
“Oh please. Like you and Andrew aren’t absolutely sickening when you’re together,” Asp shot back teasingly, relishing in the blush that appeared on her WSO’s face. “So you don’t get to say anything about them.”
Tweety just stuck his tongue out at his pilot, before flopping back against the couch. “He should have been up here by now. Reaps, you just had to wreck your plane, didn’t you?” He whined, sticking his lip out in an exaggerated pout.
“Technically I didn’t wreck it,” you replied. You looked over at Natasha, who was avoiding your gaze and doing a terrible job at hiding her laughter. “My girlfriend did that.”
“Wooooowwww. Sure, blame me. Not the fucking birds,” Phoenix said dryly. She had caught the brief flicker of fear in your eye as she’d spoken and that simply wouldn’t do. So she pulled you close, whispering reassurances in your ear.
The group sat and bantered for a while, before Asp and Rooster stood up. “We’re off to bed,” Lucy told you. “Who’s room are we using?”
“Ummm…” you began, glancing at Phoenix, who shrugged. “It doesn’t matter to me. Take your pick, just make it clear where you are. I’ve walked in on enough people the past few weeks, I don’t need it happening again.”
“Who else did you walk in on?” Rooster asked. He had a curious look on his face as he continued “I know you walked in on Asp and I, so who else?”
Your cheeks tinged pink. “Walked in on Payback and his fiancée and then Fanboy and his partner after they and everyone else’s families and partners came to welcome us back.”
The room burst into laughter, and you had to join in. The whole thought was ridiculous.
“Looks like we found your other skill, Reaps,” Rooster teased. “You have the most awkward way of figuring out who’s sleeping with who.”
You groaned, burying your face in Natasha’s shoulder. “Knock it off.”
“Nope!” Asp crowed. You were bright red and it was funny to everyone in the room, watching your normally unflappable demeanour crumble. “Now Bradley and I have some…things to do, so we’re leaving. Night guys!”
“We do?” Rooster looked confused, but at the pointed look from his girlfriend, he grinned and followed her out of the room, the door shutting behind them.
“So,” Tweety said. “I’m going to find my boyfriend, hopefully he’s done for the night.” The red headed man also got up, and left the room, leaving Bob, Phoenix, and you sitting in silence.
“And now I’m a third wheel. Great.”
You laughed. “Look, I think Asp and Bradley went to our room and Andrew and Tweety will be otherwise occupied, so if that’s the case, you can just crash in the other bed in whatever room Nat and I end up in,” you offered, glancing at your girlfriend to make sure it was okay. “If you want.”
“Won’t that be awkward?” He asked, looking at both women.
“Not really. We aren’t going to try anything and we also know better,” Natasha said, reassuring her WSO. “But if it’s really off putting, you can probably crash in one of the other rooms.”
Bob nodded. “I might take the second option,” he said, standing up. “I should go grab my stuff, before Tweety and his boyfriend take over the room.”
“Sounds like a good idea,” you said with a grin. “Have a good night, Bob.”
“Same to you, Reaper. Nat.”
Within the span of five minutes, the six pilots had dwindled to two. You sat, wrapped around each other on the couch, just enjoying the quiet. “So,” you began.
“So.” Phoenix glanced at you next to her. She knew that if she were suddenly thrown into a cartoon world, that she’d have the biggest heart eyes for you, who seemed oblivious to the whole thing. Somehow, it seemed, to Natasha, that you didn’t know just how much you were cared for by the others in your life. You seemed so used to flying solo, both in the air and in life, always moving so you could avoid the loneliness that came whenever you slowed.
It was a feeling that Phoenix knew all too well; she’d always been independent, and yet somehow, somewhere, she’d fallen into a parallel universe where she couldn’t bear to leave your side. “Is it bedtime for us too?” Natasha asked, watching you smile softly before a yawn nearly split your head in two.
“I think so,” you replied. “I could sleep for a week.”
“Didn’t you sleep last night?”
“Mmm, a little. I haven’t really slept well since before Admiral Kazansky’s funeral,” you told her girlfriend. “Guess my brain is really on board with sleeping next to you.” You added the last bit as an afterthought, the sudden realisation of your words hit you and you frantically tried to clarify. “That’s not what I- never mind, you know what I meant,” you groaned, leaning your head back against the couch.
Natasha just laughed, burying her face into your shoulder. “I know what you meant,” she murmured. “It’s just funny to watch you flounder like that.”
“You jerk.”
“Mmm, you love it.”
“I love you, there’s a difference.” You had shifted just enough to look into Phoenix’s brown eyes and she swore she could see the love she held for you reflected back. “I mean that much.”
Natasha smiled softly, sitting up and pressing a soft peck to your lips, grinning as you tried to chase her as she pulled away. “I love you. More than you could ever know,” she whispered.
“I might just have an idea,” you replied, your own soft smile adorning your face. “I can’t even begin to put it in words.”
“If you could, I’d win,” Phoenix teased gently. “Come on, love. You look ready to pass out.” She stood up, grinning at the little noise you made when she’d pulled away. “Need a hand?”
“Always.” You extended her hand, and Natasha hauled you upright, pulling you into a hug. “Didn’t we say it was bedtime?”
“Mhm, we did. I just wanted to hug my girl,” the taller woman said, smiling at the slight laugh that she drew from you.
You stepped back. “Well, wait a few minutes. Then you can hug me,” you said, walking over to the door. “You coming or what?”
Natasha just shook her head at you and followed you out the door and down the hall toward the dorms. A T-shirt was hung on the door knob to your and Asp’s room, making the taller woman snicker. “Well you did say to make it clear, sweets,” she teased.
“Shut it,” you tossed back, a little bubble of laughter bursting in your tone. “I’m too tired for that shit.”
“Okay, okay. Fine,” Natasha laughed, grabbing your arm and tugging you back down the hall, heading for her room. “Let’s go.”
You ran down the hall, giggling like little kids. You felt weightless, giddy even, at being so close to Phoenix. You couldn’t help your grin, feeling Natasha pull you into her room and close the door, pressing you back against it. “Hi,” you said, your voice barely above a whisper.
Natasha just raised an eyebrow. “Must you start every conversation like that?” she asked, grinning at you in front of her.
“I kinda have to,” you said, your breath hitching. “Kinda my trademark now.” You watched Phoenix’s grin widen, her head falling to the side as the other woman ducked her head to nip gently at your neck.
“I don’t remember you talking this much,” Natasha mumbled into your neck. She loved the shudder that ran through your body, relishing in its newness.
“Then shut me up,” you breathed, wiggling against the door, dislodging Phoenix and you walked over to the bed and flopping back on it, smiling gently. “But do it later, cause I will fall asleep and that would be shitty for us both.”
Natasha threw her head back in laughter. “Alright, fine. But I mean it,” she said, perching on the edge of her bed. She watched you toss your oversized grey shirt off, leaving you in your tank top, which you peeled off, and your shorts.
“What?”
“For such an amazing pilot, you really are dense when it comes to how others see you,” the taller woman spoke, smiling.
You just looked confused. “How do you mean? I know that the others see me as just a Ghost pilot, the best shot out of them all. What else could you possibly be talking about?” You turned around to look at your girlfriend, ducking your gaze once you caught the fiery look in the brown eyes watching you closely.
“You seriously don’t know?” Phoenix was incredulous. She had no idea how you thought anyone saw you as just a Ghost pilot, because she knew that the others had thought way more. You shook your head, meeting her eyes once more. “They saw a very hot and scary woman shoot our instructor out of the sky and laugh it off afterwards. You have set the standard for what a Top Gun grad could be. I know they saw the passion you have, the ambition. I saw your loyalty when you stood up for Asp, when you fucking punched Menendez in the nose. You are so much more than just your ability in the air, sweets.”
You flushed deeply, opening your mouth to speak, but shutting it almost immediately after. Surging forwards, you grabbed Phoenix by the front of her shirt, kissing her hard. When you pulled away, you were breathless. “For fuck’s sake. Warn a girl next time,” you said. “You can't just go singing praises all willy nilly like that.”
“Why not? You aren’t the only one who likes to talk,” Natasha replied, smiling at how your ears had pinked.
You just grinned, shaking your head. “Because… because it will make me regret saying that we should take things slow,” you said eventually, your eyes piercing Natasha’s brown. “And I mean it. I want to actually savour this before jumping headfirst into it.”
“Well then, Lieutenant Commander,” Natasha teased. “I’ll keep that in mind.” She stood up to change, taking off her own shirt and bra, slipping into a t-shirt, before changing her pants.
A whistle from the bed made her stop and turn, catching you grinning at her as you leaned back on your elbows. “Lookin good, Trace!”
Natasha just shook her head as she laughed. “I could say the same about you, sweets,” she replied, padding softly over her bed and pressing a light kiss to your lips. “But you always look good.”
“Mm. Is that so?”
“Oh yeah, especially now that you’re sprawled on my bed.” She winked, her smile deepening when you blushed, hiding your face in the pillow next to your head.
“Stooooppp,” you whined.
Phoenix just smiled, climbing under the covers, and laughing as you followed suit. “Come here,” she mumbled, opening her arms.
Not one to miss out on being cuddled, you rolled, tucking yourself in Natasha’s arms, and sighing deeply. You didn’t know when you’d last been held like this, just because the other person could.
“You just needed a hug, didn’t you?” Natasha whispered against your forehead. She pulled you close, feeling you readjust just a little so that you could rest your face in the crook of Natasha’s neck.
“Always,” came the mumbled reply. “I always need hugs. But a callsign like mine means that some people would rather fear me than hug me.”
“Well that’s just rude.” A light kiss was pressed to your head, before Phoenix adjusted herself, moving her arm to wrap over your hip, tugging you impossibly closer. “You don’t have to worry about not getting hugs anymore.”
You pulled back to kiss Phoenix sweetly. “I love you,” you whispered against the other woman’s lips. “Always and forever.”
“Ditto,” Natasha replied in a hushed whisper. She smiled, feeling the puff of air that left you as you let out a short laugh. “I love you too.”
A soft smile formed on your face, and you tucked your face back into the crook between your girlfriend’s neck and shoulder. Moments later, your breathing slowed as you let herself drift off, fully trusting Natasha.
Phoenix took a little longer to fall asleep; her mind was too busy cataloguing every place you were touching her, just memorising them in case she never got this chance again. A shuffle had her glancing down at you in her arms, and smiling softly. She took a deep breath, letting herself settle, slowly shutting her mind off. A few minutes later, Natasha fell asleep, cradling her girlfriend in her arms, falling just a little deeper in love with the woman who’d caught her eye on day one.

There's something so fucked-up about creating a cozy rom-com to redeem Jimmy Mariano, of all people.
Let's forget the first attempt at the backstory because it was obviously changed. Jimmy knocks up this teenage girl, somehow agrees to marry her, they have an apartment and a life set up and they're at least going to try family life, and he bails before the baby comes home. The show doesn't talk about it because the subject is supposed to be about the Gilmores and the betrayal of Lorelai running away and choosing a less prestigious lifestyle, as well as how it's always more important that Lorelai is embarrassed to tell her wealthy father she's sleeping with his wealthy business partner or how Jess won't plan for dates and how this is the worst thing in the universe or whatever comparatively trivial thing is often going on with the main characters, but the Danes really could not take the stress of Liz being left alone as a teenager with a baby. The business was failing, William Danes got very sick at some point, and Luke (also only a teenager when this started) was the only person to hold it together...Jimmy left Liz in the middle of that, likely knowing she didn't stop drinking while she was pregnant, knowing she couldn't and wouldn't stop partying, knowing the rest of the family couldn't handle it. He didn't come back for eighteen years (and I doubt he paid child support, either) and when he did exactly...what was he expecting? Liz is gone, Luke is barely holding it together, Jess at this point is something of a broken husk of a kid who's finally failed at keeping his demons at bay...what did you think would happen, buddy? You abandoned your kid to that, two decades ago. I guess you thought it's like giving a kid up for adoption and you'd show up and find out that he's done fine without you and you can stop thinking about it, but you didn't sign the papers to give him a better life, you just left. And once you find out that he's not better off, that you had a big part in making him what he is, you leave again.
And when Jess comes to find him, in a beach bum version of Stars Hollow where he will never fit in and that he's going to hate worse than the place he just left, he rejects Jess again, because he just can't handle it again and even after making all the effort to go and see him in the first place, he doesn't have any room for Jess in his family or his life, even if Jess has no one else. He has to beg to be given half a chance, and Jimmy barely takes it. Where's the shame, the guilt, the sense of responsibility? Why does the kid you abandoned have to beg YOU for a chance, Jimmy?
And I don't care if he's cute and charming and ASP thinks throwing a handful of la-la-las in this bucolic environment is going to cover up the ugliness here. I don't care if the excuse of being a teenage father is going to be what Jimmy keeps riding on, because Luke and Lorelai were children when they got the huge responsibilities of a small baby and a dying dad dumped on their laps, and they still tried to care for the people that needed them. I don't want to see THAT GUY, who has no shame or guilt over what he's done and seems to resent Jess for asking for anything, redeemed. Fuck you, deadbeat dad. Put in some effort. Oh, it might harm your laconic hot dog stand owner vibe. I forgot.
So I'm glad it never happened, because Jimmy Mariano didn't deserve it, and I don't think it was what Jess needed, and the fact that he comes back to Stars Hollow angrier than ever and still spitting nails at Luke, unable to offer either Luke or Rory any sort of an apology or explanation, is definitely an indication that things did not go well out there. I know ASP would likely have had all kinds of excuses for Jimmy just like she did for Christopher and fail to really account for the harm he caused the kid he left behind, just like she did for Christopher but I think...we had more than enough of that for this universe, especially with the attempts to wave away Liz's behavior that we got over the next few years.
We didn't need more of that. Let Jess silently hate his worthless dad. Rory didn't get to. There should be one character that does.

Fluff, and a little rant.
I think with everything going on right now, we could all use fluff right now. I'm thinking of doin g Andy Barber, Colin Shea, or Ransom Drysdale. Please let me know. I think everyone is just exhausted and pissed off with recent events. Please leave your answer in the comment section, or send me an ask.
Like I said, no publicist in their right mind would let anything get this far without putting a stop to it, but here we are. Why? All because another party wants some attention because thar party wants attention any way they can it. For her, she had used another person to get it, and Chris blindly went along with it from day one. His good standing in Hollywood is getting more tarnished by the hour, and I think he may be blacklisted because of all this. Megan and Chris were too lazy to stop this.
She's a Nazi, racist, narcissist, porn troll, IG stripper, prostitute, escort who's Hollywood career is over well before it began.
I think this wiki war and tag war will be over in the next few weeks once it's discovered that this is BS. I hope a statement is released saying that all this is false, and his publicist and him let this slide, and a retraction needs to happen. His team removed the wiki blurb once, and the tags referring to her and this "marriage" several times already in as many days. His team is just trying to do their jobs while trying to erase this. To me, the fact that the wiki was edited once, and that the tags were removed once told me that this is BS. Right now, I think they're carefully planning how to do this without having it blow up again.
Megan needed to be fired from day one when this started happening. Several dog videos of Chris and dogs won't cut it. I would love to see a statement saying, "I let fans down. I got into something that I was trying my hardest to get out of. I messed up, and I know better now." I know Chris and Meg let a lot of things slide here.
Chris is human, just like us. We mess up, we make mistakes, we get into scams because we're in a bad place or are having a bad day, we get involved with bad people. Do people learn and move on? Yes. Will Chris move on after all is said and done.? Yes. I think Jinx is going to be okay. ASP may be dark for a while while this gets straightened out, or it may shut down.
Everything is up in the air right now, so let's just give everything the time it needs right now.
I'm going to stop, because she who shall not be named makes me exhausted and physically ill when I see her name. I'm not feeling good today due to sinus issues that are giving me a headache right now.

Smiffina Episodes - Up In Smoke
Thankfully for Smithy, his period as Acting Inspector is finally over as Gina returns in this episode.
Before he can relax however, he and Diane are called to the park where they find a man, Duncan, flying high on drugs and holding burger van owner, Jade, at knifepoint. Jade gets stabbed in the arm and initially refuses to go to hospital. Having rugby tackled the suspect, Smithy disarms him and takes him back to the station to see the FME before interview and Diane stays to accompany Jade to St Hughes. Jade's reluctance makes more sense after Duncan is interviewed as he accuses her of selling drugs from the van.
Smithy sets up an obbo on the van and they net a large haul of cannabis that Jade had been selling in food cartons. Smithy is pleased as Jade appears to be one of the largest dealers on the Bronté estate. She refuses to name her supplier but Callum recognises him as Lee Clarke who has history in cannabis factories. Duncan claimed the cannabis was being grown locally and Clarke pops up... it has to be linked! CID are too busy to take the case on so Smithy authorises Diane and Callum to do an OBBO on Jade's flat to see if Clarke turns up which he does. They then follow him to another address and Callum takes a sneaky look when he drives off to see if it shows any signs of being an alleged cannabis factory - which it does.
Phil moans at Callum about a case uniform passed on only for Gina to appear out of nowhere and ask him if there's a problem. "No ma'am." Phil says quickly escaping. Callum introduces himself to Gina before Smithy can update her. Smithy is Not. Happy. that Callum has been schmoozing round his Gina! The smile when they first see each other - eeee! I've slowed it right down so it can be seen a little better.
Tumblr media
The alleged factory is rented out via an agency owned by Duncan's father. Given how angry he was in Duncan's interview they suspect he doesn't know the true nature of the building. Callum offers to do some background on Clarke and Gina gets the helicopter unit to do a little flyby to see if the thermal imaging backs up their suspicions and says that CID don't need to know anything about it. Callum seems to have rather attempted to take the credit on this all for himself in front of Gina... something not missed by Smithy.
Tumblr media
Duncan's father admits he's paid extra facilitate the short term let on the quiet - with no official paperwork. It's also clear - despite how dodgy it looks - that he didn't know about what it was used for. He asks them to stop it but without official tenancy paperwork it's hard to prove that Clarke is actually involved. Gina arrives with the thermal imagery. It's no longer an alleged cannabis factory!
Tumblr media
There's a disturbance at the letting agency, the place has been smashed up. Phil and Stuart find out about the factory and are annoyed that Gina has kept them out of it so threaten to tell Jack. Smithy further irritates them by telling them to ask someone on uniform to fill them in on what's happened. Gina relents and gives them a tiny part in the raid on the factory - it's at the end of the road as lookout. "I'm talking to the DCI when we get back!" Phil pouts.
Diane sees Duncan at the house just before the raid and tries to get him away without Clarke seeing. Unfortunately he comes out and spots them talking and the raid has to hurry in quickly. Diane disobeys Callum's order to wait and gets herself locked in a room with Clarke who advances on her with a baseball bat. The door has been seriously reinforced and Callum and Smithy exhaust themselves trying to break in manually and finally they get inside with the enforcer. Diane is fine but Clarke escaped out the window. Thankfully after a short chase, Smithy - who gives his asp to another officer before running after Clarke - despite knowing he's hospitalised officers before!!!!! - arrests him without further drama.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gina is happy to see all the cannabis plants being brought from the van - she's not so happy to see Phil and Stuart as they moan at her. Phil tells her he wanted to be a little more involved so she says he can be... and hands him all the paperwork for the case to complete!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As they clock off, Gina congratulates the boys on how 'they' handled things whilst she was away as she'd expected to come back to a load of paperwork - and was pleasantly surprised. Smithy smiles at her and goes on to watch as uniform drag Callum off for a drink. He refuses to join them and turns and walks back the other way after watching Callum with an almost concerned look.

(Must admit to being amused by Callum asking Beth if she is actually old enough to drink in the first place 🤣)

Meaning/references behind every Gilmore Girls episode title - Season 2, Part 1
A new note on my Season 1 post reminded me I never shared S2 here! I enjoy a neurotic deep-dive project and have been working on a clear, concise list of the meanings and references behind each episode title.
Some titles are quite obvious and literal, but many are clever references that emphasize themes and symbolism happening in the plot or character relationships. I like trying to figure them all out and wanted to share in case I have some wrong or people have caught references I've missed or didn't know writers may have spoken about, etc. ASP has such a deep well of pop culture knowledge, I enjoy mining it.
Masterlist: Season 1 Season 2, Part 1 Season 2, Part 2 Season 3, Part 1 Season 3, Part 2
My notes: - As always, please correct anything I've gotten wrong and share your own insight! - Many of these notes are pulled from and/or learned via annotatedgilmoregirls.com - an absolute icon! - Now in S2, we get many more references and more symbolism in the titles than we did in S1. I especially enjoy when there's a song reference and you can get all nerdy about how the lyrics tie into our characters' feelings. - I love the subtle symbolism of Lorelai trying to out-run her commitment issues and getting stopped at a red light (literally) in front of an open door at Luke's. - I knew the reference, but didn't realize how much Luke and Lorelai's dynamic directly related to Nick and Nora until researching.
Season 2, Part 1
Sadie, Sadie Sadie, Sadie is a song from the 1968 musical film Funny Girl, starring Barbra Streisand. The song is sung when Fanny Brice, the comedienne and Ziegfield Follies star, marries her husband Nick Arnstein (Omar Sharif), but the marriage is doomed: Nick is a gambler and criminal, and they separate after he’s sent to prison. The song references Sadie Strakosh, the married daughter of one of Fanny's mother's friends. She gets mentioned early in the show as a kind of success story to be jealous of because she's a nice young girl who landed a dentist. Throughout the film, Fanny deals with feeling unattractive and less than her peers and considers it a huge personal victory that she snagged a handsome man who wants to marry her. This is why she ignores all warning signs and happily and blindly celebrates the affair, echoing Lorelai’s own excited feelings about her doomed engagement to Max. It’s endearing and classic Sookie that she tells Lorelai “You’re gonna be a Sadie!” She’s wrapped up in the romance of it all without realizing how dooming an analogy that is. Although Sadie's dentist is good on paper the way Max is. Possibly an interesting fun fact: when Nick asks Fanny out backstage after her first show in the Ziegfield Follies, he brings her yellow roses.
Hammers and Veils “Hammers and veils” is a pun on “hammers and nails”. Rory uses the pink fluffy hammer from Lorelai to help build a house for charity, while Lorelai is concentrating on her upcoming wedding – including buying her wedding dress and veil.
Red Light on the Wedding Night A “red light” signifies a big signal to stop. Lorelai has received many symbolic “red lights” in her engagement and on her way out of town with Rory, she faces a literal one newly installed in Stars Hollow (ironically right in front of Luke’s Diner where the door is already open for the day - perhaps a metaphorical green light in the direction she should be going, but of course will continue to ignore for years to come). Technically this happens several days before the wedding, not the day-of as the title might imply.
The Road Trip to Harvard Lorelai’s impulsive road trip symbolizing her feelings of being lost, confused, and unable to commit ends up in a trip to visit Harvard for the first time, where she can take comfort in Rory’s more confident, safe, smart plan to make it to Harvard.
Nick & Nora, Sid & Nancy Nick and Nora Charles (William Powell and Myrna Loy) are the protagonists of the 1934 comedy-mystery film, The Thin Man, based on the 1934 novel of the same name by Dashiell Hammett. They’re a wealthy married couple who enjoy drinking and flirtatious banter, with plenty of free time to solve mysteries. It was the first time in a Hollywood film a married couple were shown still able to enjoy sex, romance, and adventure together. The film was such a success, it spawned five sequels, and in the 1950s was made into a television series starring Peter Lawford and Phyllis Kirk. Sid and Nancy is a 1986 British biographical film, starring Gary Oldman and Chloe Webb in the title roles. The film examines the destructive drug-fuelled relationship between Sid Vicious, the bassist for British punk band The Sex Pistols, and his American girlfriend, Nancy Spungen, which ended in tragedy when Sid stabbed Nancy, either accidentally or deliberately. Lorelai is saying that she and Luke weren’t just having their usual comic flirting, but actually fought with each other with a genuine intention to hurt each other emotionally.
Presenting Lorelai Gilmore Rory participates in a traditional debutante ball and “comes out” to society, therefore being “presented”. Using the full name she shares with her mother hammers home the way in which Emily often uses Rory to fulfill the dreams and expectations she had for Lorelai. This is especially clear when Emily tells Lorelai quite literally: “that should’ve been you up there.”
Like Mother, Like Daughter A common proverb claiming that a daughter will have traits similar to her mother upon reaching adulthood.
The Ins and Outs of Inns “The ins and outs” is a common way of mentioning the details about how something works or is done. This episode involves a lot of preliminary research, learning and planning for Lorelai and Sookie looking to start the process of running their own Inn.
Run Away, Little Boy “Run away, little boy” is a common taunt likely originating from the book Still - William (1925), the fifth in the Just William series by Richmal Crompton. The series chronicles the adventures of the unruly schoolboy William Brown. The series has spawned various television, film, theater and radio adaptations and a large fan following. This is appropriate as this episode marks the last appearance of unruly schoolboy Tristan Dugray.
The Bracebridge Dinner Wealthy clients pay the Independence Inn to recreate the Bracebridge Dinner for them at the Independence Inn. The Bracebridge Dinner is a unique Christmas tradition at The Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park, California, on the floor of Yosemite Valley. Held annually since 1927, the event transforms The Ahwahnee into a 17th century English manor for a feast of food, song, and mirth with classic carols, Renaissance rituals, Middle Age music, and sumptuous food. Over 100 players create the roles of the Squire and his family, their servants, the Lord of Misrule, minstrels and other performers. The inspiration for this ceremony was Washington Irving's Sketch Book that described Squire Bracebridge and English Christmas traditions of that period.

It happened on new years eve (part 11!)
You wake up and see chris sleeping, you smile and get out of bed and walk downstairs and dodger runs behind you and you say. 'aw you want help me make breakfast bubba?'
You grab your outfit and get dressed. You walk out of the guest bathroom and fix your hair up.
Tumblr media
You get coffee on while chris is sleeping. Dodger looks at you and you say. 'Oh shoot sorry bubba!"
You grab his dog food and say. 'there you go bub" You grab two coffee cups and pour some and you hear soft footsteps, you smile and say. "hello Mister Evans."
He says behind you. "Good Morning Girlfriend." You turn around and smile at him and he says. "God you look so good first thing in the morning." He kisses your lips and pulls you closer to his chest, you pull away and say as you trace his tattoo. 'I love the dodger one here." You trace it and Chris says. "do you have any tatts?" You look up at hi and say. "No it's to much pain for me. I love that my boyfriend has them."
Chris walks over to the coffee maker and says as he grabs his cup. "Thanks for the coffee dove, I have a busy day ahead, ASP chat at noon, and then calls."
Tumblr media
You smile at him and he looks at you. "Something on my face?" You shake your hear. "No darling, i just love to hear you talk"
Chris smiles at you and says as he wrap one arm around you. "maybe we can talk more...in the bedroom." He kisses your neck and you say. "Hmm I have a doctor's appointment today just making sure our little girl is fine."
Chris kneels and says placing his hand on your belly. 'I am sure she is tough just like her mother." He looks at you and smiles.
He kisses your belly and stands up and kisses you and then says. " I love you Amber"
You wash out your coffee cup and say. 'it's Y/N, Chris, Amber is the old me, she's long gone." Chris says. "Okay why not name our girl Amber then? it love it."
You say. "Because that would...it would remind me of my past Evans! I don't need that" Chris says. "hang on i'll be back." He walks away and you lean on the counter. "Little one your father is so sweet." You feel a kick and you smile. "Yeah i know your awake honey"
Chris walks back out and is now in a white shirt and dress pants. "Fancy look" Chris smiles. "at least it's not a suit.."
Chris says. "okay back to names, How about Reagan?" You say. "What! oh my god no thanks." Chris says. "hmm, well i can't think of many off the top of my heard right now, we can talk more about this later."
You nod. "okay, well i have to get ready to go.' You say. 'You ok here?' Chris says. "of course darling don't worry" He kisses you and you pull away and say. 'Okay i won't try too"
You walk into the master bedroom and grab this outfit.
Tumblr media
You slip on the shoes and grab your makeup and put some on and then you fix your hair and walk out and back into the living room, you hear chris is working so you walk out to your car and drive off.
Chris is working and he hears glass break. He rushes out and says. 'Who the hell are you!?" He is hit over the head and he falls to the ground with blood pooling a bit. Someone says. "Get him in the car hurry!"
An hour later you get home and say. 'Chris I'm home." You see blood and say. 'Chris!? " You rush into the office and see his laptop open and phone with it, your heart races and you say. 'Dodger stay, I have to go find dad."
You get into your car and call Hank. "Hello I thought you were done working for us?" You say as you stop at a red light. "Chris was kidnapped! i need my badge and gun back, I am ten minutes out!"
You get a call from an unknown number. "hello?" You pull up to the HQ and turn your car off and the person on the other end of the call says. "If you want Chris alive you'll bring me my money Firefly, or..He Dies within twenty four hours!" You are about to say something when the person hangs up.
You get out of your car and walk into the HQ and Hank is there in your old office and he says. "So now you want back in the game?" You glare at him and say. 'They want the money or they will kill Chris, i know this person isn't bluffing."
You grab your gun and put it on your hip and you turn and say to Hank. "You with me?" Your cross your arms
Tumblr media
Hank sighs. 'Fine but I'll be keeping you safe Amber, I made that promise when we first met, I'm not going back on that" You nod. 'Fine."
You and hank walk into the meeting room and get to work.
You look at a wall and say looking at hank. 'You know who took Chris?" Hank nods. 'His name is Malcolm Bridges He's the main guy who made the bombs."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chris wakes up and looks around. Someone says. 'Sir he's awake" Chris blinks and Malcolm walks up to him and says. 'hello Mister Evans."
They get him into a tunnel and Chris is thrown into a chair and Someone has a gun pointed to his head. Chris says something through the gag.
Malcolm says. 'take it off." The gun with the gun takes the gag ut and chris says. 'Who..are you? why do you want me?" Malcolm says as he walks around with his hands behind his back. "Your sweetheart has something i need..."
Chris says. "what does She have you want?" Malcolm says. 'Stop asking so many questions!" he sigals his guard to put the gag back in. Chris says. "wait no" he is cut off by the rope in his mouth again. Chris rolls his eyes and Malcolm says. "Your girl will show her face she knows you'll die if not." Malcolm sits down.
Tumblr media
You are in the shooting range and Hank says as you shoot. "Amber" He takes your earphone off your ears and you turn around and say. "Shit hank! don't do that when i have a fucking gun you know how i hate that"
You turn back and keep shooting. Hank says. "Amber you have to get the money.." You lock the gun and say turning back to him. "I'm getting my boyfriend back then i'll think of how to fucking kill that monster!"
Tumblr media
You see the time and walk out. "time to get ready" hank says. "good luck."
You grab this outfit
Tumblr media
Hank says. "Amber you got the money?" You hold up the bag. 'Got it." You get in a car but then you see a motorcycle and say. 'Get it"
You get on and ride off.
You pull up to the big tower and say as you get off the motorcycle.
Tumblr media
'Okay I'm here." hank says. "okay I think Chris is on floor fifteen" You take your sunglasses off and say as you look at the top of the tower. 'Of course he is"
Tumblr media
You walk in and a guard by a desk says. "who are you?" You smile. 'I am here to see your big man." he looks up and down you and says. 'Got any weapons on you?" You say with a flirty grin. 'not all handsome." He calls someone and then says. "After you." You walk to the elevator and get in with a big guy right by you.
You stand there and see your on floor ten and then eleven and then the main floor.
You turn around and hold out a gun to the guy and say. 'Bye" You shoot him and the doors open and you walk out and then hear Malcolm past a door. You kneel and grab your other gun and wait.
Tumblr media
You hear a door and say under your breath. "Shit" you rush to the room and close the door slowly but you keep it open to see who it is. Your blood boils when you see two men walking with Chris, he has his hands tied behind his back.
You look around and walk out after the men leave.
You walk into a room and see chris just sitting there and he looks at you and you take the gag out and say. 'Sh" he says. "I'm really wishing we would stop meeting this way." You smile and untie him and say. "Me too"
Chris stands up and you say handing him a handgun. "Follow me." Just then Malcolm walks in and is clapping. "Good job Sweets."
You look at him and think to yourself. You and Chris were both caught...
Thanks for reading this part! Working on part 12 for you all. Love you!

The man has a net worth of $110 million. He doesn’t need to play PR games for a check. And this type of thing isn’t going finance a movie either when a script doesn’t even exist yet 🦎/// Yes but he is less and less relevant in Hollywood. His roles are meh he doesn't have Cap to cover for that anymore. He have to stay relevant in the business that is changing to streaming instead of theatrical release. This business always was trashy and now Chris is playing this game hard too. He just get catch cause apparently he can even fake a romans for pics. I don't believe they together. Maybe was are friends but that's doesn't matter. Likes matters lol. Not only for him but others too. That's how agency's gets those less known actors on top lol. It gain traffic and fallows for them. People gets interested in them and that's the pandemic effect. When we all stacked at home that was the only way for them and also people started to pay attention to likes and fallows more (maybe out of boredom). They signed contracts with them so it's in their interest to get them jobs, recognition and higher status in Hollywood. Chris is doing dirty things, stupid Hollywood games. It's just time to accept it and stop baby him. Just watch him burn himself maybe he learn something.
ALL celebrities play PR games to some extent to stay relevant with the public and sometimes studios. But I still don’t think his career is WHY he would be involved with Alba for PR if that’s what’s going on. I just don’t. I’m sorry. 1. It had the potential to backfire BIG TIME by making him another Hollywood cliche. And to a degree, that DID happen. 2. They aren’t in the media together enough for me to be solely convinced this is ONLY PR. The general public isn’t sorting through likes and follows the way fans do to try and connect the two of them together. That’s stan behavior, not public behavior. And they haven’t done a whole lot to gain PUBLIC attention. Gaining fan attention isn’t enough for relevance when we’re a much smaller group of people than a lot of us here on tumblr or LSA would like to believe we are. 3. If he was desperate for public attention, there’s so many better ways PR could have been done. They could have ran with the Sexiest Man Alive title so much further than they did, they could spin ASP to look so much better than it does, the public loves him with Dodger and they could have pushed for more Jinx ads and articles considering he’s a brand ambassador. PR doesn’t have to just be relationship related, and for him, highlighting other parts of his life has always seemed to gain him more favorable public attention. But that’s just my opinion and you’re free to disagree.
Here’s the other piece of the puzzle and I’m just going to say it. If he wants to remain relevant in Hollywood, he just needs to be picking better projects and concentrate on doing better with acting. That’s all there is to it. He’s a mediocre white guy in Hollywood. There’s dozens of those everywhere. He’s very easily replaceable. His acting isn’t strong enough to set him apart from his peers. He’s at an age where the younger, muscly men in Hollywood are going to start taking those “action” type roles (and if they’re new to the industry, they can be paid less) but he’s not growing at the performance rate of his peers or actors that are slightly older than him for more serious roles. If we look outside of Marvel, he hasn’t had very many box offices successes. Knives Out did GREAT, but he was part of an ensemble cast. A cast full of respected actors or those with enough public draw. He didn’t carry that movie on his own. Lightyear didn’t do well with the box office. It was ok, but it wasn’t great. Red One and Ghosted are both streamers that appear questionable in quality. I’m not saying they’ll be bad, but I highly doubt they’ll be scoring Oscar nominations. Pain Hustlers (again, another streamer) I think could go either way depending on how they play out the story line. Studios aren’t going to just look at a celebrity’s PR or who they’re dating. They’re also going to look at what it costs to hire that actor, if their acting chops are up to par on what they need in the movie, and if they can sell tickets based on previous box office numbers. 🦎

Songs that fit ASP and lyrics to prove it
There are seven songs so I'm gonna put a cut here. Also there's a little bit of story and discussion for one of them.
No Children by The Mountain Goats: And I hope when you think of me years down the line You can't find one good thing to say And I'd hope that if I found the strength to walk out You'd stay the hell out of my way I am drowning There is no sign of land You are coming down with me Hand in unlovable hand And I hope you die I hope we both die
God Must Hate Me by Catie Turner: Got ample mental illness, personality flaws While their only flaw seems to be is that they have none at all Do you ever see someone and think "Wow, God must hate me" I'll let 'em take accountability For everything that's wrong with me Can't hold myself responsible So I blame the metaphysical
Francis Forever by Mitski: On sunny days I go out walking I end up on a tree-lined street I look up at the gaps of sunlight I miss you more than anything [...] And autumn comes when you're not yet done With the summer passing by, but I don't think I could stand to be Where you don't see me [This is Finny's ghost to Gene :(] Final Duet (fan lyrics) by OR3O: When the nights get too lonely When the skies become gray It's okay, it's okay Just take everything day by day And you will see It's not as bad as it seems
Love Like You from Steven Universe: I always thought I might be bad Now I'm sure that it's true 'Cause I think you're so good And I'm nothing like you Look at you go I just adore you I wish that I knew What makes you think I'm so special
[Ok this is a stretch but] Satisfied by MARINA: High achiever, don't you see? Baby, nothing comes for free They say I'm a control freak Driven by a greed to succeed Nobody can stop me 'Cause it's my problem if I want to pack up and run away It's my business if I feel the need to smoke and drink and sway It's my problem, it's my problem if I feel the need to hide And it's my problem if I have no friends and feel I want to die
Seventeen (Reprise) from Heathers: Listen up folks War is over Brand new sheriff's come to town We are done with acting evil We will lay our weapons down We're all damaged, we're all frightened We're all freaks but that's alright We'll endure it, we'll survive it [Finny], are you free tonight? [...] I can't promise no more Heathers High school may not ever end Still, I miss you, I'd be honored If you'd let me be your friend
Ok so for the last one the context is it's definitely after the first fall... I think when Gene visits Finny after the second fall or Finny's surgery from said fall turns out ok and he's on crutches again.
The characters are Gene, Finny, Brinker and Leper trying to be like normal again (but I know this is dumb cause Lep is LITERALLY CLINICALLY INSANE A PYSCHO). I'd like the situation to be the first option because there's a line that says, "Let's go be seventeen [...] Act like we're all still kids, cause this could be our final chance!" and the irony is that it IS their final chance cause you all know what happens in surgery then 😒
But I don't know how to have them all partying if Finny's literally still in the bed, like he's not moving all that much 💀💀💀💀 Anyway I need to learn how to draw Brink and Lep if I do this

Keep reading for backstory, because there’s always a backstory.
I am from Trinidad and Tobago, I’m into women, and I’m over 35 years old!!!
Keep reading for Backstory, because there's always a backstory.
So, story time, I've been single since early this year and have been trying to ease my way back into the dating world. Now, if you know anything about my country (run a quick google, love, I’ll wait) we’re a tiny country, which makes finding someone here very difficult; so we rely on the apps!
My first tango was with Tinder (of course) where I did happen to meet a lovely woman (a few crazies down the road) but with whom there was no chemistry whatsoever, so that remained a platonic friendship. Then there was (is, cuz I’m still into her) the sister of an old college colleague who I happened to randomly be introduced to at a social event. Micro-stalked her socials and asked around in a few groups and deduced that she might be bi. Chatted her up, there was mutual flirting, regular messaging, then bam, she pulls away completely when I ask her out. Our messages dwindle down to barely anything and she stops responding in any way to any personal posts I make. So I step away and pop back in to tinder where, a few crazies later again, I meet someone who seems like I could jive with. Long story short, I was wrong. By now I’m quite frustrated, so I download a bunch of lgbtqia+ dating apps and joined a few chat groups as well. The first one I went into had an entry condition where you had to introduce yourself with some information. So I type in my ASP (Age, sexuality, pronouns because ASL is so 2001 ICQ ....ps if you don't know what ICQ is then you’re too young to be here) and the immediate response from some tween was “OMG you’re old enough to be my mom!” The nerve of that little shit. So I exited that one and checked another, same thing. I try one for 25+, most of them were under 30. So I was like you know what, fuck these new age apps, what’s the old school way lesbians found each other before the tinders and the bumbles of today’s generation? The way we’ve all met women before? TUMBLR!! So here I am. And if you’re in the same boat as me, share and add a thread with your ASP. And of course, if you’re interested, slide into my DMs.
39 | Lesbian | She/Her

Make it work
Summary: You knew the moment you saw the package at your door that Chris had some plans in store for you.
Pairing: Chris Evans x Reader
Warnings: 18+, RPF, naughty talks, use of toys, flirty Chris, smutty talks, implied smut
A/N: Picture drabble time! It's kind of a followup/part of Morning Ritual. I can't get enough of this man and his ASP chats are not helping.

Title: Make it work
As soon as his face appeared on your screen, you knew he was in a different kind of mood today. Donning his printed shirt and the white undershirt which did little to conceal his chest tattoos, Chris was all smiles and had greeted you with an excited "Hey!" with the conversation quickly turning into the most fun and energetic one you have had ever since being separated due to the pandemic.
Tumblr media
Like everyday for the past weeks, you were on your customary video call with Chris. Only that it was a Sunday and instead of an early morning call, it was in the afternoon. You would have generally slept in through the morning, but the package delivery earlier that day had kept you awake ever since.
It was from Chris and when you had texted him to ask about it, he had written back in all caps, "Do not open it."
Tumblr media
Your conversation was flowing smoothly when you asked him about Dodger and while he started recalling an incident that happened over the week with the pup chasing behind a squirrel in the park, you eyed the brown package sitting on your table. You waited for Chris to finish his story before you said, "You know I love Dodger and I love listening about him." You slid the box in front of you and pointed towards it, "But I have to interrupt. I am dying to know what is inside this box."
"What do you think it is?" He asked, grabbing his beer to take a sip.
Tumblr media
You tried not to squirm when he chugged his beer while maintaining eye contact with you. You were in that phase of your cycle where your man could melt your panties even with a side glance. For a long second you couldn't look anywhere but his lips, wishing desperately that they were on yours right now.
Shaking your head and clenching your thighs shut, you looked back to the box and began tearing it open.
"At least give me a hint of what I should expect." You mumbled while trying to take the tape off the sides. You looked up at your teasing boyfriend who seemed to be enjoying your dilemma of not knowing what you had in store.
"All I can say is..." He stopped when you let out a loud gasp.
Your mouth fell open looking at the package in front of you. Inside the outer cardboard box there was black box with a pink vibrator printed on it. It was the kind that could be controlled by an app and a remote. Seeing that the plastic covering was torn, you were sure that Chris had already configured the settings with his phone.
"Chris," You began, feeling your cheeks heat up by every passing second.
Tumblr media
"Before you feel cornered," he raised his hand to stop you from saying anything. "We don't have to try that. Anything that makes you uncomfortable is off the list."
You looked up at the screen and Chris waited patiently for your reaction. He had a smile on his face, watching you intently as you took the box out and turned it around in your hand.
You felt your face flush with warmth and your heart flutter at his words. You smiled at him, unboxing the device and taking out the curved toy in your hand. Reading over the instructions, it was supposed to be a g-spot stimulator; reading that was enough to make you wet between your thighs.
"How did you come up with this brilliant idea?" You asked, placing the box and the silicone toy on the table.
Tumblr media
Chris laughed while running his hand over the side of his head, a nervous tick that he did when left flustered. "I was only looking over at a website for myself and then Scott walked in the room-"
"Wait-what?!" Hearing that his brother might know what kind of sexual shenanigans Chris was upto, you felt a renewed wave of blush travel up to your cheeks. Your ears heated up at the possible scenarios of them discussing which device will provide you 'maximum pleasure'.
"You know Scott is not bothered by such things right?" He asked, shrugging his shoulder. "Infact, that one was selected by him."
"Chris!" You covered your mouth with your hand, groaning but also laughing.
Tumblr media
"He also wants feedback of how it felt, so he can recommend it to his friends." Chris clearly was having too much fun with your embarrassment as he laughed while he spoke.
"I'm not going to do that!" You protested even though you were enjoying this yourself. Very rarely Chris was in a jovial mood these days, hating the distance between you two and being holed up in his house. He also had a lot of projects lined up for which he was constantly stressed and to add up to his thoughts, he was worried about his family and your safety.
So you went with the flow of the conversation, watching him laugh and explain to you how the device works. He showed the screen of his phone which had the app open and to demonstrate he turned the vibration on. The pink toy began vibrating on the table, rattling along the surface as Chris alternated between low and high vibrations.
"Oh god." You giggled and reached towards it to make it stop. But Chris immediately turned up the strength of the vibrations and it bounced on the surface, making you shriek in response.
Tumblr media
Chris laughed loudly. He had his pearly whites on display, squinting as he laughed with the prominent laugh lines on the edges of his eyes. He looked adorable to you and the sound of his deep laugh made your heart strings strum with it.
"You are being so naughty today!" You chuckled when your regained your composure, and quickly turned the device off.
"Yes, yes, I am." He took a deep breath to calm himself.
"I miss you so much." He titled his head to the side, a wistful look on his face. "When will I get to hold you again?"
The change in the tone of his voice ached your heart. You sighed, running your hands through your hair and finding yourself at the loss of words.
"Soon. We are still making it work though." You tried to be optimistic. You worried that one day the distance would be too much and Chris will move on to someone present physically near him. You had stayed awake many times in the night, laying in bed alone, wishing that you had never left the country for work.
Tumblr media
"Do you worry about us?" Chris had his cheek rested on his knuckles, his eyes fixed on you through the screen.
You pushed your chair closer to the table, resting your elbows on the wooden surface. Chris imitated your movements, clasping his hands together in front of him. You instantly noticed the watch you had gifted him, the unmistakable golden body of the watch shining in the sunlight through the window. Smiling softly at your man and hating the solemn look on his face, you reassured him.
"I do worry about us, but I know we'll be okay. It's not going to affect how I feel about you, how much I love you and how much I want to be with you."
Chris sighed, finally his lips breaking out into a smile. "I love you too. I want nothing but to be with you."
You nodded at him, trying to blink the tears away. You did not want to waste a day crying over a situation that was out of your control. So you came up with a plan.
"Babe, are you alone?" You asked, picking up the bright pink toy in your hand.
Chris's eyes twinkled when he looked at your hand and how you twirled the device between your fingers. He slowly nodded, raising his eyebrow as you stood up.
"Be right back." You excused yourself and made your way to the bathroom. Washing the silicone toy before use, you striped yourself off of all your clothes and stood in your naked glory. You switched on the device and carefully inserted the toy between your silken petals, marveled at how easily it slipped inside you since you were already drenched. You blushed that Chris could have this effect on you even from many miles away.
On your way back to the computer, you took a glass of water as your throat went dry anticipating the things that would occur.
Tumblr media
"Chri-" You wanted to sound sultry but with a jolt of vibration that hit your sweet spot with ferocity, you yelped out. Your hands jerked forward and the water spilled on the carpet and you looked wide-eyed at your boyfriend laughing on the screen.
"Oh shit!" He had his eyebrows raised in surprise as you stood with the empty glass in your hand. "I didn't know you would get water too. Sorry, sorry." He clasped his hand over his mouth, waiting for your reaction.
He might have expected you to get mad at him. But you weren't even the least bit angry. If anything, that single shock of delicious stimulation had your entire body ready for some loving. So instead, you placed the glass on the table and sat down on your chair. Bringing your arms to rest underneath your breasts, watching as Chris's eyes travelled to your hardened nubs, you smirked to yourself.
"You have to make it up to me now." You twirled a stray strand of hair around your finger and noted how Chris's stare turned into a lustful gaze. "Come on now. Strip."
"Yes ma'am." He said before peeling his shirt off his body.

I am So. Glad. we agree when it comes to Jess and Rory's relationship and feel the same way about Rory's s4 finale arc. Not a lot of fans seem to think like that, so it's comforting to know there are people who share my thoughts!❤
The feeling is mutual!! Like I get why Rory’s s4 arc is so shocking, but in retrospect it makes so much sense. Maybe it’s because I only watched this arc for the first time this year (and there’s been a lot of shows with more morally grey protagonists since that season originally aired), but it really isn’t that controversial to my 2021 eyes. That’s not to say what Rory did with Dean (especially the second and third time and onward) was in any way excuseable (I will continue to shout about how Lindsay Lister deserved better for a long time), but the entire season builds up to this.
Rory’s entering college single, which she hadn’t expected since probably season one (being with Dean for so long and then Jess who was clear on wanting to go long distance), and for an entire year people keep trying to push romance on her. Emily sets her up, she goes on some bad dates, meets crappy guys, and all in all does not have a good time being single. She can’t even be single and not looking without people poking her and asking when she’s gonna get a new boyfriend. Meanwhile she still sees Dean all around ST and does desperately want a friendship with him, and he clearly becomes a stable person for her to rely on when everything at Yale is so chaotic. And on top of that we have resident mess Jess coming back twice with the worst timing ever to throw two more problems into her brain (love confession with immediate bolting and not-thought-through-at-all travel proposal), and Rory finds herself grasping at straws for anything and anyone who can be there for her. Who will stop people complaining about her being single. Who everyone likes. Who is familiar ground. So when Dean tells her repeatedly that him and Lindsay are not working out and that they «both know» it’s not working? Well that looks like the solution to all of her problems.
I know there are a thousand reasons that have nothing to do with Rory for why people can’t stand her (there’s the double standard with flawed men vs flawed women, the whole pedestal thing where a perfect pure good person getting a little grey makes people think they were the villain all along, etc). And there’s probably some valid reason individuals can’t stand her (I know there are some great characters out there that I just cannot make myself like, it happens!). But this still bothers me because Rory is being so human here. This is exactly the kind of stuff people do when they reach certain ages. Teenage years and the twenties are considered a mess for a reason. And I’m not saying that doesn’t mean Rory should’ve been held accountable (which she was… funny how Dean wasn’t also though), but it doesn’t make her unsalvagable either.
And the same goes for Jess! That boy lashed out in so many ways as a teen that are so recogniseable and understandable, and got way too much hate from ST, but he did hurt people too. And yes, he worked on himself and became as great as he was in later seasons and AYITL, but that work took time. His arc in s4 is that work beginning, it is him trying to crawl out of rock bottom and realizing that he does love Rory and wants her in his life, but he just can’t crawl of that whole for Rory and Rory alone. He needs to do it for himself first, and he needs more support than Rory can and should give him, which is what Luke is there for. I’ve seen people have such a black and white view of his whole arc where either he was always a manipulative evil jerk who just got more cunning or he was a dream baby boy who never did anything wrong in the first place and deserved better than anyone. And just. No. He was flawed. He did bad things. And he was good. And did good things. And he grew. Like people do.
As much as I ship literati I genuinely think ASP and co were right to not get them together on the original run (at least through s6, we’ll see when I finally get to s7 how I feel). They made each other better people and they did love each other but neither one was ready for an endgame relationship. Rory kept compromising and shutting down with Dean, and Jess could barely open up his mouth to speak unless it was in quips most of the time. When s4 rolls around they’re both on their way or already in rock bottom, and they just cannot save each other from that, certainly not at that age. If you ask me, unless we’re talking intricate AUs and AU timelines (both of which I am very fond of) Jess and Rory would not be able to work as a couple until post s7. They rejected each other and/or pulled away all those times because they weren’t ready, including in that infamous s6 episode. Just because it looked like Jess was ready (and in my opinion we knew way too little about what was going on in his life to know if he was absolutely ready) doesn’t mean Rory had to be. She was still going through so much that she had to process and live with. And while that doesn’t mean Jess was required to wait for Rory to become ready, it doesn’t mean she was never worthy in the first place and never will be again. In my head they do find their way to each other for good one day, I just don’t think it could happen at all before the end of season 6 (again, intricate AUs excluded).
Well that was a rant! It’s just so nice to share this knowing someone agrees, instead of screaming at the Tumblr void and hoping somebody will respond <3

Chapter 1: It gets so sticky down here
Tumblr media
A city girl in a small town. What could be sadder than that?
In the city, life went fast. In a place like Birch, the days dragged by as if to remind you of how helpless you were beneath the unyielding and inevitable tick of the clock. The hand wound around and around as you waited for what would never happen. The dreams of your childhood eroded beneath the rolling years leaving trail of crumbs you could not follow back to the beginning.
A woman just beyond her prime trapped in an antiquated career. The empty aisles between the shelves full of books bespoke of a bygone era. The forgotten library at the far end of the main street rarely saw a new face and those familiar were fewer by the day. The staff had thinned to three of you; Melissa was older than you with a daughter nearly your age and Colin was close to retirement if not well past.
You got on well enough, as well as you could given Colin’s faulty hearing aid, and Melissa’s wandering mind. They meant well but they shared the lethargy of the old small town.
You weren’t nostalgic for the smog or the flashing lights of the city, but there was no life to this place. Only the impending reach of death rattling closer in the roar of the motorcycles and the rumble of the old railroad that ran through the middle of town.
The air nipped at your cheeks as you approached the library. A morning of yawning had you craving a latte from the bakery and the quiet girl behind the counter cheerfully steamed the foam before handing it over. Everyone in this town was familiar, everyone knew everyone else, and yet, you still felt like an outsider.
You felt the heat of the cup through your glove and you looked up as you sensed two figures by one of the thick columns of the library façade. Melissa stood chatting with her daughter, hugging her sweater around her as she’d left her coat inside. You peeked up at the grey sky as snow threatened at any moment with the mid-November bite.
As you thought to pass them and leave their conversation uninterrupted, your name drew you back.
“I was just telling my daughter,” Mel began as she waved you over with a chatter of her teeth. “About that podcast you mentioned. She loves those old Hollywood stars.”
“Oh,” you blew the steam away from the lid of your drink as you neared, “It’s alright. The stories are worth the narrator’s schtick.”
“Yeah? I’ve been closing at the bar and I like to listen to something once it clears out.” Mel’s daughter said. “You wouldn’t mind giving me the name?”
You told her the title of the podcast and helped her find it on Spotify to follow for later. Mel shivered and stood closer to her daughter who was bundled up against the onslaught of Birch’s blustering winter. You knew about her too.
She was friendly but you saw in her a cynicism more common to city folk. You got along but you were weary of her associations. The local club of crass bikers were neither subtle nor savoury. In the city, it was easy enough to ignore the patch and all that came along with it. The seedy figures were distilled by the broader population but not in Birch. There, the club was the town.
“Mom, you can’t stay out here.” She poked her mother’s arm. “It’s too cold.”
“Little better in the library.” You grumbled and sipped your latte. “The radiator’s broken again.”
“You mean Colin broke it trying to fix what wasn’t broken,” Melissa shook her head, “and I’m fine, dear. I’ve spent more than fifty winters in Birch and been through worse than this.”
“Yes, but you were younger then--” Her voice dwindled as she turned her head to listen to the distant roar of exhaust.
You followed her gaze and noted the way her forehead creased at the noise. She swallowed and turned to watch as a dark rider turned onto the main road from the highway. It was the man who kept her entwined with the club, the one who marked her latent authority over all others. The only one who outranked her.
She swore and looked over her shoulder at her mother. Her mother touched her arm. It was a telling and surprising moment. Her expression read of all the disgust you felt for the bikers.
At least a dozen bikes followed the first and Bucky raised his glove hand to signal the others to slow as he pulled up to the curb just before the library steps. You backed away as his breath clouded around him and he waved Mel’s daughter closer. He craned to kiss her as she bent, her fingers picking at her jeans as she did, then he nodded his greeting to Mel.
“What are you doing?” He asked tersely.
“Can’t I see my mother?” The daughter challenged and the biker scoffed.
“Of course,” he killed his engine and the others mimicked him in fine order. “I wouldn’t keep ya from her but you didn’t tell me you were going downtown.”
“You were gone.”
You listened to the conversation as you stayed close to the column, thinking of sneaking up the steps into the library before you heard too much. Your curiosity had you searching the crowd of leather jackets as their wearers tried to conceal their impatience with their boss’ impromptu halt.
Among them, a large man sat casually in his seat, his feet planted on the cold pavement as he rolled slightly back and forth. Strands of his thick blond hair were drawn back beneath his helmet into a thick braid as the rest hung around his shoulders. His patch was different from the rest, an old Norse symbol you didn’t know the meaning of. There were several others who wore the same cut, including a dark-haired woman who chatted with another golden-haired rider.
You tasted your latte again, it cooled quickly as the cold air battered the cardboard. As you sipped and sidled around the column, your eyes were caught by another pair. The very man you’d just been watching was now focused on you. You stopped, hoping like some frightened animal that your stillness would ward off his attention.
“Barnes,” the broad blonde man spoke as he finally looked away. “You’ve not even introduced me to your woman. I assume that’s why we’ve stopped.”
Bucky shifted on his bike and sighed. You hadn’t expected the man to have an accent. His voice was deep but the subtle lilt defined his tone as unforgettable. The dark-haired biker of Birch rolled his eyes before he pointed to his girl and gave her name, then to Melissa as he explained their relation.
You sidestepped around the column to the stairs of the library and turned away. You were stopped again by the same voice.
“And that one? The quiet one?”
You spun back slowly and looked at each biker, many unconcerned with conversation, as a few stared back at you or at the viking-like rider. Bucky shook his head and furrowed his brow at Melissa’s daughter. She hesitated before she gave your name coolly referred to you as just another librarian. She was trying to deflect the focus and you were thankful for it. You wondered at her own blatant spite for that breed of man.
“No one important,” Bucky grabbed his keys. “Come on, honey. I’ll give you a ride back.”
“I can walk.”
“Get on.” He said gruffly and turned the keys.
The motorcycles thrummed back to life in a cacophony. You flinched and turned back to the library doors. Your lunch was almost over as it was and the cold was starting to make your head hurt. You heard the bikes tear off as you reached the door and you turned back to watch as Melissa ran up after you.
You held the door for her and paused as you watched riders tear away. The blonde remained and watched you with a smirk. He winked as he slowly rolled after the others and pushed off. You followed Melissa inside and pulled the door shut tightly behind you.
“I’ll finish the returns,” you slipped past her, “you should try to warm up.”
“Thanks, dear,” she rubbed her hands together as she neared the curve desk you all shared, “God, that man makes my skin crawl.”
“But your daughter--”
“She handles him as well as she can,” Melissa sat and logged onto her boxy PC, “she’s stronger than me, that’s for sure.”
You sat and chewed on the thought. You just assumed her daughter leaped at the opportunity to date the most powerful man in town. What else could a girl from Birch hope for?
“She doesn’t…”
“He keeps her safe, I guess,” Melissa muttered, “I don’t say nothing against it. I won’t, for her sake as much as mine.”
You lowered your lashes and turned to the stack of unscanned books. You took the first and opened the cover.
“I didn’t mean to-- I don’t really know anything about the… bikers.”
“Hope you never do, dear,” she said listlessly. “Those men, if you can call them that, are the lowest form of humanity.”
💀
You always took the same route home. It wasn’t very far. You lived in the studio apartment above Tammy’s, the clothes shop where all the local seniors got their outdated outfits. The store itself smelled like a retirement home but you were not often disturbed by the activity below. Like everything in Birch, it wasn’t very exciting.
Your walk took you past the diner and along the stretch across the street from the town’s sentinel, The Asp. The bar was the only place in town which always seemed to be bursting with life. You had an old Chevrolet parked behind the building but you never drove to work, only on your odd trip to the city to get away from the suffocation malaise of main street.
That day as you fumbled to get your earbud back in, you heard a whistle. You got a few comments now and again about your habit of blocking out the townsfolk and the town itself with your music. In the city, you didn’t just say hi to every person you walked by and you had little inclination to change that habit.
You kept going and the whistle came louder. You heard boots hammer across the street and you stopped as the earbud once more fell out of your ear.
“Eh, kitten,” you turned to the long-haired biker. A golden hammer hung from a chain and peaked out from the open collar of his jacket. He tucked his hands in his pockets as you faced him with blatant irritation. “We didn’t get to meet properly, did we?”
You stared at him and let out a foggy breath. You leaned on your left heel and shook your head with a scoff.
“No.” You said and turned back along your path.
“No?” He repeated and his footsteps followed closely. “I’m only being friendly, kitten. I’m not from around here and I’m just tryn’ ta make a few friends.”
“I’m not interested,” you march onward and stop short.
You realised if you went any further, you’d lead him straight to your door. You didn’t need him knowing where you lived. You veered off and crossed the street, he stayed close just like your shadow. You’d stop by the liquor store and wait him out there.
“Where are you going, kitten?”
“Can’t you take a hint?” You nearly tangled your own legs as you pivoted sharply. “I’m sorry for your luck that you’ve ended up in Birch but I don’t know you and I don’t want to know you.” You grasped the handle of the liquor store door. “Oh, and my name isn’t kitten.”
“I know your name. I remember it.” He grinned and you swung open the door. He caught it behind you and you let out a frustrated sigh as he trailed you inside. “It’s almost as gorgeous as you.”
“Do those work on the women where you’re from?”
You stared at the shelf of fruit wines and tried to ignore him. You were starting to build a real thirst for the bottles.
“I don’t meet a lot of women like you, kitten.”
“Would you stop it--” You blinked and stomped further down the aisle.
“Thor. My name’s Thor.” He offered gallantly. “But you can call me whatever you wish.”
“I could think of a few things.” You bent down to read the label of a wine from the Maritimes.
“Mmm, my thoughts run wild, kitten.” He purred and you looked up at him in confusion.
You swiped the bottle from the shelf and stood straight. His eyes clung to your ass and as you turned, they swiftly found your chest. Neither were well-hidden by your jacket, even as thick as it was. Your weight often deterred the whistles and the leers, but not this time.
“How many ways can I tell you to go away?” You hissed and move to step around him. He turned and watched you pass. He shivered as you brushed against him unwillingly in the narrow aisle.
“So, you got a man?” He questioned as again he tailed you to the counter. You grabbed a small bottle of Vodka from the rack beside it and dug out your wallet.
“Does it matter?”
He bent and leaned on the counter beside you and you ignored his attempt to look you in the face. You paid and took your change as the clerk bagged your purchase.
“To me, everything about you matters, kitten.”
You shot him a sharp look and took your paper bag. You hugged it close and glared at him as he straightened. “Stop calling me that.”
“Here,” he gripped the top of the bag, “I’ll help.”
“I’ll smash this bottle over your head,” you threatened. “Now I’ve told you to leave me alone.”
He chuckled and dipped his head. His hair slid down the leather and he scratched his thick beard.
“Don’t worry, kitten, I like to play.”
He looked at you again, his blue eyes twinkling. You were startled as suddenly he ‘woofed’’ at you. You backed away and he kept close as is to chase you, ready to salivate like the dog he mimicked.
“Get away!” You shouted and raced for the door.
His barks turned to laughter and the bell announced your stagger out onto the street. You didn’t look back as you charged across the street and narrowly missed being mowed down by Linda Karling. You reached the other side as you heard the liquor store door clatter a second time. You sensed his shadow as you turned down a side street.
You walked until you were certain he wasn’t following. The cold blew up your jacket as you mapped out your way back. You could sneak around the back of the clothes shop and sneak up the metal escape. You peered back and forth, the old house just at the town limits nearly faded into the dimming sky and main street shrouded by brick walls.
“Hey,” a small voice surprised you as a woman neared, walking the same route as you. “Whatcha doing all the way up here?”
You stared at her dumbly. It was the woman who worked at the bakery. She hung out with the club too.
“Nothing, I…” You grabbed your earbuds and put them back in your ears. “I was listening to my music and got carried away.”
“Oh?” she chittered like a mouse. “No one comes this way. Only me to see my ma.”
You nodded at her and gave an awkward smile. “Mmhmm. Well, thanks. I probably would’ve wandered right out of town.”
“I wouldn’t blame you,” she said forlornly. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow?”
“For your latte. And you always get the banana loaf when it’s on special and tomorrow’s Tuesday.”
You sniffed and rubbed your neck. You hated that. You hated that everyone knew you, that everyone knew what you did, and that they assumed they knew everything else. But she was sweet and you couldn’t hate her for never being freed from the prison of Birch.
“Oh yeah,” you squeezed the paper bag so it crinkled and pulled out your phone with your free hand, “tomorrow.”

SHINSOU KAZUYA quirk: siren - makes people do as she wants as long as she sings the command bubbly and easygoing but pretty selfish, not wanting her whims to be refused. once she’s into doing something she’s hell bent on finishing it tho her attention span is as short as they come. the house cats go to her when they want to play
SHINSOU MAMORU quirk: mind reading - reads people’s thoughts, depends on how fast they talk your mom’s an assertive and passionate woman, your little sister is loud and hyperactive, and everyday you feel like you wanna die. he’s tired as shit and would rather be in quiet places.  he doesn’t like getting caught up in people’s issues and try to stay away from problems as much as possible. the only reason why he’s willing to help his dad is that he uses his quirk only when he’s sure the suspect won’t know about him.
MIDORIYA CHIHIRO quirk: pyrokinesis (hell fire, non hero ver) - makes and controls fire she’s bright and really expressive, unlike her sister she likes being around people. she’s really energetic and optimistic. likes heroes but mostly their costumes and the contraptions they used. she idolizes aunt mei and melissa for all the cool things they makes. good at cooking from hanging around grandma inko and uncle katsuki. and also because of uncle katsuki she tolerates spices. baby of the family, both the midoriyas and todorokis

BAKUGOU KYOUSEI quirk: eruption - lava flows from his skin in katsuki’s own word, literal fucking sunshine. idolizes eijirou very much he tries to copy him. however he could very well be seen as blood thirsty and aggresive when angry tho that doesn’t happen all that much. he’s able to calculate situations on the fly easily and do things well after a few tries, text book studies however is not his strong suit.
TETSUTETSU SHIINA quirk: mercury - can turn himself into mercury, pure or variations of it with the nature of the mercury in his body, he has to be mindful of keeping his body in check as to not accidentally poison people. he’s more often than not stays quite as he gets jittery and becomes scared easily, where he would melt away into a puddle and tries to run away. however he’s very stubborn and won’t stop until he achieves his goals. close to kyousei as their parents hangs around a lot even though they live in different cities. likes hugs but only from family
OJIRO ASAHI quirk: prehensile hair - strong and can be controled like an extra limb, very tough tooru likes to spoil her and dress her up in cute clothes, hates it how her hair takes away all the nutrients she eats. tooru gets called to go on a lot of info gathering missions so she's not home often, and when she does come home she showers her with a lot of attention. she finds it overbearing. close with dad, he teaches her martial arts for fun. has both a cat and a hamster, they're the only ones allowed to touch her hair.
YAOYOROZU ITSUKI quirk: marionette - has a cord at the back of his neck, objects poked by it can be controlled gender is a social construct. doesn’t see the benefit of holding things back. easy going and laid back, going through the motion as he sees fit. he’s very close to his parents, sharing the same interest in music as kyouka and momo happily spending as much time as she can with him, hoping to do things she wasn’t able to with her parents as a child, so he really doesn’t feel lonely all that much.
ASHIDO KURASHI quirk: hallucinogen - produces hallucination inducing liquid looks like she wears her heart on her sleeves and doesn’t bother with hiding anything. looks like an air head but not really. when her quirk started to show many adults became wary of her, equating her quirk to that of drugs and not want her anywhere near them or their children.more into non violent approaches. she’s also very touchy.
KAMINARI ARASHI quirk: technopath - controls electrial appliances and uses them as he pleases at 7 years old he was saved by denki during a break in after being used by a group of villains. ditching his old self he changed basically everything about himself as he can and took a new name. he and denki likes to play together, and he can often be found with hanta on top of tall buildings in tokyo. he especially admires katsuki’s no-shit-taking personality and is a big fan of his. he’s no good with dark cramp places

The Kitties
Summary: while out with Dodger, you find two kitties.
Pairing: Chris Evans x Roommate!Reader
Tumblr media
Chris has been pretty busy with all his ASP interviews so you’ve decided to get yourself and Dodger out of the house so Chris can focus on his work. You ended up taking Dodger on a hike on one of the trails that Chris has taken you both on only for it to rain after 20 minutes. You are completely and utterly lost and soaked in your high top converse, leggings, T-shirt, and oversized denim jacket (may or may not belong to Chris). Dodger isn’t fairing too well either. Your phone is also dead.
“I’m sorry, Boo-Boo,” you said trying to find the parking lot since you know exactly how to head back to Chris’s home.
Dodger barks before bolting it down the path and to another break off point. You’re yanked and you slip. You hit the ground hard and thankfully catch yourself on your hands.
“DODGER!” You yelled picking up your glasses and shoving them back on.
You start running after him and really wish Chris was here because the dog would have not been easily taken him down. You slip and slide. It’s truly comedic. You fall again. Twice.
“Dodger, you fucking—,” you hissed as the dog sniffs a box.
A meow or two stops you from getting after the dog and scolding him from dragging you. You get off the path and hesitantly open the wet box. It’s a little white dirty kitty that is somewhat dry.
“Shit,” you pouted and grasped the cat that hiss at Dodger.
You hold it close to your chest and Dodger disappears.
“Dodger!” You exclaimed.
You find him by a bush with a muddy little kitty and take that one as well after putting the white one in your jacket pocket.
“Is there another one, Lassie?” You asked grabbing the muddy leash in your hand.
You look around as best as you can and Dodger sniffed around. It just seems that it’s just the two little kitties you found. You ultimately wrap them kitties in the denim jacket as they just shake like leaves and carry them. You do finally find the parking lot and walk all the way back to Chris’s house in the pouring rain with no jacket on.
Upon entering the house, you and Dodger track in mud without hesitation. Chris is in disbelief at your state.
“What-?” Chris said.
“I dont want to talk about it,” you said putting the kitties in his hands. “Other than the fact that we got two cats now.”
He opens his mouth to say something but you just shake your head. He watches as you walk away to the bathroom with your shoes squeaking.
“Dodger, off the couch,” Chris scolded.
Chris ends up taking them to his bathroom and he closes the door which Dodger paws at. He places the cats on the bathroom counter where your makeup isn’t taking up the whole space and pulls away the jacket. There’s two little freezing kitties.
“You poor things,” Chris cooed.
He ends up pushing up his sleeves and turning on the bathtub faucet. He makes sure it’s at a good temperature before taking the duo and putting them in the shallow water.
“You two are fine,” Chris said as he squirts a palm full of Dodger’s shampoo into his hand.
He cleans both the cats earning some scratches from them. Chris does leave them in the water for a second to grab clean towels for them and also you from the dryer.
“I got you some towels,” Chris said keeping his eyes to the ground as he placed them on the counter.
“Thank you!” You exclaimed from the shower.
“You’re welcome, Darling,” Chris said.
He’s quick to go back to the kitties. He pulls them out of the tub and starts drying them. They meow at him.
“See now you’re all better, you two little shits,” Chris cooed sitting on the floor with them.
He gets a video of them purring when he wraps them up together in a towel. You soon come into the bathroom in only a big fluffy white towel wrapped around you to find Chris sitting crisscross on the floor with his back against the porcelain tub holding the cats.
“What happened?” Chris asked seeing your scrapped and slightly bleeding knee.
“Your dog. He had to play Lassie and he pulled too hard on the leash,” you said grabbing the bandaids from a draw and neosprin.
“C’mere,” he said. “Lemme fix you up.”
You sit down beside him adjusting your towel a bit. You bend your knee which makes you hiss in pain.
“Aww, you poor thing,” Chris cooed taking the neosprin out of your hands only to find your palms are scrapped up as well.
“He literally bolted it from me,” you said.
“I’m sorry. —Where did you find them?” Chris asked as he played doctor.
“Off that one trail,” you said. “The black one was in a soggy cardboard box and the other one in a bush. I think someone just didn’t want them anymore.”
“What a fucking asshole. It’s a good thing you found them,” Chris said.
“Can I keep them please?” You asked looking at your best friend.
“I don’t see why not,” he smiled.
He might not be a big fan of cats but it might be nice to have them around. He also knows that you happen to love cats and dogs and any animals. Plus, he can’t say no to you and he has a feeling you’ll be very happy to have them.
“Oh my god! It’s Marie and Berlioz!” You exclaimed softly looking at the two kitties.
Chris can’t help but laugh. You’re perfect. You’re as much as a big Disney fan as him or he’s corrupted you. It’s probably both.
“If only there was an orange kitty too,” you pouted.
“Oh my god,” Chris said. “That would be three cats in this house.”
“But would that be so bad?” You asked.
“Just go put some clothes. I don’t need you catching a cold,” Chris said.
